Could the Hurricanes and the Chiefs suffer upsets to their bogey teams, the Reds and the Brumbies? Or will home advantage be too much for our Aussie counterparts? And the Blues face a seemingly impossible task of playing in front of a sold-out Te Kaha Stadium against a rampantly building Crusaders side. Don’t say it. Don’t say it. Hosted on Acast. It was a super time at Super Round this weekend in Christchurch. The team headed down to the Garden City for the opening of Te Kaha, One New Zealand Stadium and it was a banger! 5 sold out games and plenty of action. The Crusaders gave their fans an opening night to remember as they put away the Waratahs with a hat trick from Dallas McLeod. The Hurricanes once again showed their dominance by destroying the Brumbies on Anzac Day with flying Fehi Fineanganofo inching ever closer to the all-time try scoring record for a single season. And it was only fitting that we went to Super Point - with the Reds and the Blues taking it down to extra time in a nail biter. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week on the pod! It’s no longer a theory - it seems well and truly evident that if you have a player celebrating 100 caps, you’re guaranteed a win! There’s something about a centenary celebration that gees the boys up something chronic. And this weekend was a shining example. Luke Jacobsen got his 100th crown, battering the Hurricanes defences and clinching an extra time win to see the Chiefs top of the table. Finlay Christie’s hundredth saw the Blues hold on for dear life, as the Highlanders tried but failed to get a win. And it was another 100 capper that saw one of the biggest upsets of the weekend - as the Force rallied around Harry Johnson Holmes to topple the Crusaders in Perth, making it two losses on the road for the reigning champions. It’s certainly going to be a doozy of an Anzac weekend at Super Round in Christchurch. We’ll see you there! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Two major tragedies were thrust upon Super Rugby this week as both the Crusaders horses and Moana Pasifika officially get the axe from our great competition. Is this the future of Super? One axing at a time?In other news, it was poetry in motion as the Canes keep their No.1 status, with a decent thumping of the Blues, as Cam Roigard cements himself as the best halfback - probably in the world. The Chiefs pound Moana into literal non-existence to setup a thrilling top of the table clash next week in Hamilton. And the Crusaders faced the wrath of the hurting Reds side, as the 100th celebration to Filipo Dangunu geed the boys up to a historic win, the first at home against the Crusaders since 2011. Goes to show, anything can happen in this comp! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It’s Easter and you know what that means! Only 3 games of Super Rugby? WTF? Weirdest decision since the inclusion of the Sunwolves. The Easter bunny brought a second consecutive thumping for the Queensland Reds, as the heat turns up on soon-to-be Wallabies coach, Les Kiss. Poor bugger. What has happened to the Brisbane men and can they bounce back to stay in the top 6?The Chiefs finally answer some critics with a tasty performance, albeit against a seriously average Waratahs side. And the Crusaders do what they always do - start to push the throttle in when it counts as they absolutely devastate the Drua at the last ever game at Apollo Projects Stadium. God help us when they move to Te Kaha… Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It was lights out both figuratively and literally this weekend as the Hurricanes switched off the Reds like an old lamp and the stadium lights went down at North Harbour Stadium, just as Highlanders started their one game winning streak. The Brumbies will regret not celebrating James Slipper’s 100th game for the franchise, as the Tahs sneak past them for an upset, thanks largely to Angus Gardner. The Chiefs barely scrape by the Force as they still struggle to find their rhythm.Newly crowned Prince Peyton continues to shine in his father’s footsteps as part of a killer Blues backline, and Ruben Love has had a lovely hair treatment and is looking better than ever.
