And now your hosts, Isaiah Stanback, Patrick Walker, Josh Rodriguez and Kyle Yeomans. Go, go Dallas Cowboys. For the first time since two Dallas Cowboys put the beat down on the New York Jets. It was a butt whooping from the get go. I don't care what the final score said, the final score still was a win 37, 22. But I'm talking about the 33 lead the Cowboys had before garbage time on the road. It's the first road win of the 2025 season. First road win under Brian Schottenheimer. And for those that are out there saying New York is the greatest city on earth, no, I completely agree. Because guess What? The Cowboys are 20 against the city of New York in 2025. Welcome in to Talking Cowboys presented by Black Rifle coffee company live from the star in Frisco, Texas and the SWBC studios. Welcome in everybody. We've got the whole cast and crew ready for you to rock today. Patrick Nosi Walker, Josh Rodriguez, Isaiah Stamback, crispy back. I'm Kyle Yeomans.

B
So no reason to be coy about a loss against the winless Jets.
C
Listen.
D
Not at all. You know what? I feel good about the win. And listen, you don't control as you should. You don't control who's on your schedule. Yeah. You control with. With. With what you do with whom is on your schedule. And the Dallas Cowboys took care of business. And I would like to give a lot of kudos today. Do we.
B
Where's there's no helmet, no smelly stickers.
D
No, man, it's okay. We'll time you in the break. I would like to give a lot of kudos. Out. Okay. No smelly sticker right now. Okay. I have to decide who's going to get that. I haven't done that actually. Yeah, yeah.
A
You weren't here.
B
It's been a minute here.
D
Yeah, it's been a while.
B
Didn't do it a lot last year.
D
I would like to give a shout out. Okay. To Schadenheimer and his entire staff.
B
Absolutely.
D
Okay. Shout out to the entire staff.
B
They're Clayton Adams.
D
Clayton Adams. And what they've done. Riley, Connor. Riley. What they've done with that unit to where there is no substantial drop off. There's no apparent drop off. Now, you can always say our starters are going to perform better because they're starters, but there has not been a drop off where you're able to identify. Ah, I wish we had so and so. Right. They have been productive as a offensive line unit. And because of that, the ground game has continued. Who has been the benefactor of the ground game? Javante Williams, number one. Javante Williams has had career numbers. Career. He had a career. He's had career touchdowns.
A
Right.
D
Tied his career touchdown yesterday. He's also had career yardage in a game yesterday. The is. I'm assuming that his yards per per per carry is. Is probably career at the top of his career as well.
C
I would say so.
D
My friend, Jack Prescott, top of the league in terms of passing. Right. His efficiency fell off a little bit yesterday, but overall, all right, he's still killing it. George Pickens, the benefactor of offensive line, the benefactor of Dak Prescott, the benefactor of this running game. George Pickens had career numbers. Now, okay, you talking about record number of touchdowns in his career. Tied for it already through the first five games. Um, talk about the amount of yardage that he's getting. Right. He didn't get a bunch of yards yesterday, but just overall he's done a heck of a job. So everybody seemingly is having their best, huh? It's kind of interesting how these guys.
A
Offensive side.
D
Okay, let's talk about the defense then.
A
I would love to talk about the defense.
D
Defense.
A
The first time the defense got any resemblance of a pass rush all year long. You know what happened when the pass rush was able to finish?
B
Secondary looked pretty good. Correct.
A
Secondary did their job.
C
Damn good.
D
It's kind of funny that you bring that up, Kyle, because there were some different guys on defense yesterday. Yeah, Wanye Thomas played.
C
Yes, he did.
D
And he played well. You had James. James.
C
James Houston.
D
Oh, James Houston.
C
Is that James Houston? Yeah.
D
So those two guys. That's James. Yeah, that's James Houston. Those two guys have showed up for you in the preseason, right?
C
Yeah.
D
So people were wondering why I felt, you know, some type of way about some of our practice squad guys kind of getting taken. Those are guys that performed in the preseason as well. These guys were on the roster and performed well in the preseason. Wanya's been a contributor on special teams for years. These guys perform well. Ah, and there's this linebacker that I've been asking, speaking of James Jamar.
C
James.
D
That guy number 50.
C
Yeah.
D
And how many tackles did he have.
C
Actually had more of a penalties negated? Two or three other ones, but yeah. 15. 15.
B
Hold on. Get ready for the most obnoxious talking cowboys episode of all time because this is a big time we told you so episode.
A
Oh, it's true.
B
Oh, across.
D
I was going to say it, but you said it.
C
So since you said hello, I'm going jump back to office because there's something I want to lob to Josh.
B
No, we. We told you about your. We told you about wrestling foul and.
C
We. So we going to savor this one.
A
I'm going to push my microphone away and it might turn down.
D
Oh, no, you get ready.
B
You get ready.
C
I need you to enjoy your Javante Williams 100 game in the first half.
B
I said it with my chest and it was a smashing machine. That's. That's ultimately what we bought tickets to say that.
D
Did we say that?
C
That's the one tickets too. That's the one.
D
I bought tickets to Smash.
A
No, we didn't.
B
We. We ultimately bought.
C
I did.
A
You and I were on the same page and we did.
D
What did I say?
B
We got the third down movie.
D
Yeah.
C
And I bought. I bought the Smash.
A
We went to the third down movie Isaiah.
D
But I bought those tickets.
C
No, you're in my back pocket.
B
You took those for free.
C
You went for the free.
D
Damn it.
C
So we got Shamar James.
D
Yes. Good try, though.
C
Devonte Williams.
D
Yeah.
C
Hive.
D
Yeah.
C
Uhoh.
D
Oh, he just draws.
C
Let me. Let me tell you something by. Let me tell you something about number 19.
D
He just dropped the draws.
C
Let me tell you something about number 19.
D
Oh, chill out. Oh, here we go. Here we go.
C
Say it with Kendrick. In the chat. In the chat. You're absolutely right. You beat me to it. Ryan Floynoy. Woo.
D
Say it again.
C
Ryan Floy. Make sure you say his name. Ryan Flournoy.
D
How many?
C
Ryan Flournoy. Career game, what my guy finished with.
D
Oh, my God.
C
114 on six receptions.
A
I also had 10 more on the ground.
C
He was a running back too, which is why when I asked Dak Prescott about one of his biggest attributes, he said strength. So what was one of the bigger attributes I said about Floy? Physicality, Ability to dominate the line of scrimmage, get off press coverage. Attack at the high point.
B
Tell him.
C
And run routes. We saw all those things on the full display yesterday. It's almost like. It's almost like. It's almost like he should have gotten these opportunities beforehand.
B
Ooh, I don't know.
C
It's almost like he a game breaker. Oh.
D
So how many career games was that? Flournoy.
C
Uh huh.
D
James. Houston. Jamar.
C
James.
D
Javante Williams.
C
Oh, yeah.
D
George Pickens.
A
Maris Liefow.
D
Maris Liefow.
C
That's right.
D
Show your rhyme.
C
Show your rhyme. Showed up. A Right on. Just saying. Just saying showed up.
D
They were playing against other professionals. I know what people are gonna say, okay. I'm not saying that our fans, our fan fame, they're all five. They're professional athletes. Okay. Are they as good as they want to be? Absolutely freaking not. Nobody wants to be that. But they were who were on the schedule, and that's what you had to.
C
Take care of for that. Okay. Okay. Right here. Continue talking.
D
Yeah, go ahead.
A
Oh, that's a great. That's a great sign.
C
Continue talking.
A
Patrick is holding up a sign that says this does not underline it in all caps, not imply the Cowboys will win the super bowl, which I completely agree with.
B
Absolutely.
D
But it's one heck of a building block.
A
It is a building block. This is a step in the right direction. Your defense. Sorry for my language, for all those family users out there, has played like ass throughout.
D
They did.
A
They did not play, like, against the Jets. They did not Play like that. They played well. The. The defense finishes with five sacks. They took the ball away from a team that struggles to hold on to the football. They did not play like that in this matchup. And that's a step in the right direction. I don't care who you're playing, this.
B
Is a big win, not only for the Dallas Cowboys, for talking Cowboys, genuinely, I mean that, because these are guys that we've talked about since training camp. These are guys that we've been championing. And then, unfortunately, Jack Sanborn had the concussion protocol. He was out for the rest of the game. To have Shemar James come in, and honestly, that changed the vibe of your defense. He was able to fly to the football. If you read the wrong read, he was able to get to it pretty quick and make a tackle. One thing that you didn't see last week, that you saw this week were tackles. Like we just said, Jamar James, 15 tackles. Amazing for a backup linebacker that we've said. Maybe he should be in the rotation earlier more than not. Anyways, to get past the I told you so stuff, one of the main.
D
Things that get past the what I told you so.
B
I told you so.
D
Should we just say it all together? I told you so. Okay, good.
B
This is one of those episodes, guys. Sorry, we need.
D
We need to embrace this.
C
Keep the party going.
B
We've had a lot of losing. We've had a lot of tying recently, guys. Yeah, yeah, we gotta embrace this a little bit. And for those listeners out there that know, just. Just give us a break on this one. But, guys, one thing I want to shout out here, okay? And we're talking about the defense and making plays. You know, early on in that game, first drive, I was like, oh, okay, this is one. Third down. Conversion after note.
D
This is.
B
That's what this movie's about to be.
D
They're running the ball.
B
Guys, let me paint you a picture real quick.
D
Painted Picasso.
B
Second and goal at the three yard line on the first drive of the game. The jets score here. The Cowboys are down 7 to 0 on the first drive of the game, which has been proven to be ungood for the Dallas Cowboys when they're having to play from behind. Granted, it's the first drive, but it's just the implications of it, and it's just not good for the Dallas Cowboys.
D
Bad vibes.
B
Bad vibes. So second and third. Yeah. Second and goal at the three yard line. Solomon Thomas.
C
Yeah.
B
Unblocked tackle for loss on Breeze Hall, a guy that you had a really hard time bringing down today or bringing down yesterday the entire day. But Solomon Thomas, as a former Jet getting his revenge a little bit. He was there for three years. He kind of had a little chip.
C
On his shoulder for that unblocked four yard loss.
B
Four yard loss. That was the change of pace that.
D
You might want to block that.
C
What happened next?
B
Oh, and then who was it but Dante Fowler.
D
Okay.
C
Got involved. We've been asking Dante Fowler to refind his form. Dante Fowler. And granted, uses his head.
B
Arguably.
C
Head, hands, chest, doesn't matter to me. Past breakup. Okay. Chest, pants, shoes, a little bit of boosie in there. Yeah. I mean, Dante Fowler, he gets involved. And if not for the sky cam, maybe Kenny Clark comes down with the interception. Who knows? And then that drive to your point ends in a field goal. Not a touchdown.
B
Manageable way to come back after a drive like that. Ben, don't break. Was the certification of the Dallas Cowboys defense all day long.
D
I do have to bring up one sore spot.
A
I'm glad you will.
D
Yeah. I don't want it to be all.
B
Yeah, we got to bring us down.
D
We got to be able to analyze well.
A
And that's the part of it.
C
It's.
A
This team is not going to win the super bowl because they beat the O in for.
D
No, no, no, no.
A
It's plain and simple.
D
There's.
A
There are things to get better at.
D
You cannot win. Win the super bowl if you miss extra points. I mean, come on, Brandon.
A
Huh?
D
Come on, man. Freaking A.
C
Contribute.
D
Can't believe it.
A
Kicked it out of bounds and he.
D
Kicked it out of bounds. What the heck? Brandon Aubrey, your worst game of your career.
A
I'm glad it happened this day. I'm glad it happened when it was 30 to 3 and it didn't happen when it was. What was it, 47, 44 or whatever the F or. I guess it's 37, 34. And we needed a 64 yard field goal to keep us from going 0 and 4.
B
So everyone has an offense.
A
Yeah.
C
Little human, but he's still Brandon Aubrey. I want to. I want to circle real quick back to something Isaiah said because I pointed it out on Twitter yesterday on X. This coaching staff on the offensive side of the ball, obviously we're giving a lot of rightful credit to Brian Schottenheimer for, you know, orchestrating the league's best offense. Okay. The hiring of Clayton Adams and Connor Riley.
D
Yeah, it's genius, man.
C
That combo pack is nasty freaking work.
A
Absolutely.
C
When you can have. Because Clayton Adams has a big hand in coordinating the offensive schemes going into each game. So he has, you know, so there's that. But also he has the duality of being a heralded offensive line coach out of Arizona. So you combine that with Connor Riley and what he can do as the offensive line coach heralded out of Kansas State, bring those together like Isaiah said. And Quinn and Williams yesterday. Let me just illustrate the point. Quinn and Williams.
D
Did you hear his name? No.
C
You know why you didn't hear his name? Here's why. He only had three tackles. He had only one quarterback pressure. He had only one run stuff. He had zero sacks. One of the things KY pointed out last week when we were previewing this offense versus that defense is Quinn Williams not only is a monster at stopping the run, only one run stuff, but he also is a monster on the pass rush. Zero sex. Only one pressure on Dak Prescott. Let me detail this for you even further. Left to right, you had Nate Thomas. Was it okay? Brock Hoffman and TJ Bass, four backups to the left of Terrence Steele. And still Dak Prescott was only sacked one time by McGregor when the game was well out of hand.
A
That's the most impressive thing in my opinion. Unbelievable about this whole thing.
C
Connor Riley, Clayton Adams, you're.
A
You're missing CD Lamb. That's one thing we did. First time. First time the Cowboys have ever won a game without CD Lamb catching a pass. Just by the way, since he was drafted in 2020.
D
That's crazy.
A
So with all that being said, you're missing your number one target. That's tough in its own right, but missing guys on the offensive line is a completely different answer. You know this as a former quarterback, Isaiah, when you have to deal with the cohesion up front, when you have to deal with a different ball snapper, when you're doing communication, center, that communication and then you've got to move positions. Hakeema Dennis, he has played what throughout majority of his time in Dallas, Tackle. He's played tackle. He's playing left guard.
C
Yes, he is.
A
He's going in there and playing left guard. Nate Thomas did not play his entire rookie season. Really didn't practice his entire rookie season was this is his de facto rookie season and he's playing at left tackle for a former first.
C
They let him go.
A
Absolutely. The one thing I even hate about this is because people out there that are draft nuts and we hear this a lot on the draft show of you should never spend first round picks on offensive linemen. But it was three undrafted free agents, a sixth round pick and a seventh round pick Starting up front for your offensive line in this game, and they did their job. But I think that that's a lot of credit to Clayton Adams, a lot of credit to Connor Riley. It's a lot of credit to the guys up front that put it all together, because when they pieced it all together, it made a complete difference. And you could tell Dak was still comfortable in the pocket running this offense all the way through this, even without his starting four of five offensive linemen. That's an incredible stat. And I think no matter if they're playing a high school team or college team or a pro team like the New York Jets, I don't care. That is a huge win because you got it done without those guys in the fold.
B
Tommy Irish wrote a great article about this and about Dak's support of the offensive line, the backup offensive line. And in his press conference, he was talking about how, like, if there's anybody that believes in guys that people think shouldn't be starting, it's me. That's not the exact quote, but please check out that article. His confidence level in the offensive line was at its highest, and I mean for good reason, because those guys plays played lights out.
D
They really. It was so funny because when we were doing our training camp shows. Yeah. He was telling people, we're talking about, like, what's the biggest high, you know, biggest additions to the team this year? And like, I kept going back to my conversations on air and off air. The offensive line, the investment into the coaches. Investment into the coaches. Investment to the coaches. And they're like, oh, that. You sound crazy. Everybody wants to hear the players. This is why. This is why when you are able to go and take the. Arguably the best offensive line coach in the NFL and bring him on your staff. You took him. You took him from Arizona, snatched. And then you went and you took arguably the best offensive line coach in college. Yeah. And you brought him on your staff. You have two masterminds at that position group working on where you have invested the most resources over the last few years. And now you're seeing the productivity not only from your starters, but. But now you're understanding the importance of positional coaching. It is the most undervalued aspect of this NFL game. Position coaches. We have been on this show. It was just talking Cowboys. Right?
B
That's the show we're on.
D
That's the show we're on. We talk about position, the importance of position coaches so much. Right. We've talked. We've given a lot of credit to Linda Wells, we talked about Al Harris last year. We've talked about a lot of these positional coaches and the impact that they have. You are seeing it. You do not, and I repeat, you do not get to your second and third people on the depth chart at the offensive line and maintain your productivity. It does not happen in this league. You might get away with it at maybe one spot on your offensive line because you can kind of help and favor and shift and change your scheme. Four out of your five and you're still putting up numbers and people are having career days. It doesn't happen. So I want people to understand and please give hand claps to Shotti and give hand claps to this offensive line mastermind that has taken place between those two coaches that are responsible for that unit that goes out regardless of the personnel. It doesn't happen. And you have to pay respect to Shotti for identifying where the resources needed to be placed. It wasn't the popular thing. It wasn't flashy. It wasn't. We're going to trading and grabbing some more. No, these are our guys. We're going to grab one more offensive lineman this year right in the draft and we're going to coach the heck out of these guys. Yeah. And you have two guys doing it.
C
But we need a collection play because.
D
Amen.
C
Yeah. All right.
A
When we come back, I want to focus on the defensive side of the ball because there were a couple of things that went well. You talked about Breeze Hall. That did not go as well. There are things that they're going to have to clean up going into this next week against Rico Douda, who had.
D
A really big game and he put some. Oh, we'll talk about that.
A
He was talking. But is this defense fixed? That's my question going into the next segment.
C
Huh?
A
There we go. That's why, when we come back with more on talking cowboys.
D

A

D
Good job, Tommy.

Except I'm not really that sorry.
C
I'm not just left to be but.
D
Yeah, yeah.
A
All right.
B
It's all right. My team hasn't won anything in many years.
A
Well, we got to talk about the Art Institute. Art Institute of Dallas.
C
Your biggest feature.
A
Cowboys give up couple late touchdowns, two touchdowns in the final half of the fourth quarter. 7:56 in the fourth quarter. This is when really the points started to happen for the Jets. But they held the jets up until that point to just six points. However, Breeze Hall, 14 carries, 113 yards, 8.1 yards per carry. He was running the football effectively, but Justin Fields was not effective. His passer rating and his. His overall stat line is not going to look poor. I mean, he was 32 of 46 passing.283 and two touchdowns. But he didn't have any rhythm.
B
Did he forget that he could run really fast?
A
Yeah, probably.
B
He just forgot. Every time he sees the star, he's just like, wait a second, I was.
D
Okay.
A
It happened last year in Pittsburgh too.
B
Exactly.
A
Same thing.
B
What are you doing, dude? Run the ball. I mean, I'm not even.
C
I'm fine with it.
B
Yeah, I'm fine with it. Thank you. Appreciate you. But that whole dual threat thing we were all concerned about, he didn't show it at all. Didn't show it one bit. Granted, that's the Cowboys being able to put him on notice and be able to contain him quite a bit.
D
Somebody got. Somebody got in his head. You think so?
C
Yeah.
A
Like on his own side.
D
Yes. Yeah.
A
That's unfortunate for him.
B
Unfortunate for him and beneficial for us. Thank you very much.
C
I hate that for him. Love it for us.
A
But where did you see the biggest improvement from week four to week five? I'll start with you, Josh.
B
Third down efficiency.
C
Like it.
B
The jets offense was only 7 of 16, 44%, which by our metrics is pretty darn good for this defense.
A
I'm down for that.
C
It's a 180 degree turn.
B
I was actually okay with that. And then another improvement over last week was snaps for James Houston. Granted, he had the same amount of snaps last week, but you saw the snaps being sort of divvied equally more so this week. Jadevin Clowney had 31 snaps, up from 23 last week. Again, James Houston 36, Sam Williams 44, Donovan Nezeraku 52 and Dante Feller 34. To me, that's a pretty darn good split for what you're asking for from this defensive rotation.
C
Yeah.
B
And again, James Houston is. He's great.
C
Yeah.
B
Maybe keep him out there more.
C
Speaking to that point, biggest improvement, pass rush. For me, I think the pass rush not. I think. I know the pass rush helped contribute to the third down efficiency of the Cowboys defense and being able to get off of the field more often than not. But James Houston, you're a dog.
B
A weapon, arguably absolute dog.
C
Needs to be starting. It's. We've been saying it. We've been pounding the table about it. Isaiah's been standing on the table about it, and I'm right there with him. We all have been right there with him. We need to see more James Houston, his efficiency as far as when he's in the game, his production versus his availability, it's off the freaking charts. And then you started to see contributions from other guys. Dante Fowler, we talked about it. Sam Williams, once he got that, that.
D
Dante Fowler had a good game.
C
He did. Once that Williams got that apparently obligatory penalty out of the way, seems like he got to get one. He got that out of the way. He got it out of the way. He started playing some, some big boy ball back there, right? So the pass rush for me is the biggest takeaway. They found it and they just absolutely harassed Justin, Justin Fields, the whole game. He was nervous. He did look like he was playing nervous. They did a much better job of rushing, lane discipline, keeping him contained. They didn't let him to break out a lot of times. Not to the outside, at least not to the outside. Now that's the good. The bad is that the, the run defense, which has been stout this season, had a bad day at the office yesterday. Yeah, the most part. Breeze hall, when you look at those numbers, 8.1. Those are true numbers. Those numbers weren't just being stacked up in garbage time like he had the jets in position several times to find pay dirt. So shouts out to guys like Maris, Leophile, you know that red zone, the drive where they got into the red zone. And Breeze hall, he tears off another chunk and right behind him comes Maris Leophil, heat seeking missile. Give me that.
D
What'd you call it?
A
What was that? The Hawaiian punch. That's on my highlight reel last night. Hey, man, Hawaiian punch.
C
You've got the juice now, Maris, he.
A
Did bring the juice.
D
He did bring little high fructose.
C
You got that?
D
Lots of that, lots of that.
C
Shouts out to one Yay. Thomas. We talk about how well he played in coverage and his, you know, great eye discipline yesterday. Not cheating too far in one direction or the other, just played it true.
B
Keeping everything in front of him, keeping.
C
Everything in front of him. Two, at least two, possibly three different occasions where Breece hall broke out and it was one yay. That stopped him from cribbing that ball. So when you talk about one yay. Some of these younger guys, these young guys, you know, Houston, Marist, one yay. And then you flip to the offensive side of the ball. These young guys had a day yesterday, but again, run defense because they've played so well through the first four games, I'm just going to treat it as a bad day at the office. So going forward, if you can get this pass rush that we saw against the jets, in addition to the weeks one through four, run defense that's going to set safety, safety play and cornerback play up for success. And now, now eber flu scheme can take hold.
B
I would argue that Solomon Thomas had a really good game aside from the rush defense. Like you're talking about the rush, the run game was pretty bad in terms of our defense. But what Solomon Thomas was able to do, what OSA was able to do in keeping Justin Fields contained and limiting, you know, the rushing quarterback, the dual threat that we're talking about, and then also just limiting like the pocket, just like that's where he's going to throw from all day. And he wasn't doing very good at it.
C
Good, great. That's what you need because I'm not a pocket passer.
D
So the thing that helped. Sorry, I'm simultaneously continue to watch film the thing that helped the pass rush hurt the rush defense with eber flu. Eber Flutes does not like to blitz. He doesn't like to bring additional players.
A
Now he's gonna try and get home with three.
D
He's gonna try to get home with with four guys up front. And, and the way in which he was able to do that effectively yesterday was by doing a lot of defensive line movement, right? A lot of guys were running tt stunts which means that the two interior defensive linemen were crossing. You're running stunts across where 3, 3, 3, 3 defensive alignment cross the face of the offensive line. You bring James Houston around, right? So that the tackles are consumed by the. The crossing defensive tackles across their face and James Houston is able to sneak by. So they were doing a lot of movement up front. Now that helps in terms of your pass rush, but when you are doing that every on say majority of your plays now when they decide to run, they're using their your momentum against you, right? So if you're crossing my face and we're running the ball, I'm taking you in the direction that you're going, which means I'm washing you out of the play. Which creates big run lanes. That is something that they're going to have to fix. It was good that they fixed the pass rush with that but exposed them in the running game. So now Iber Flutes has the film to say, okay, this was. We can do this with pass, but how do we now still protect ourselves in the running game whilst still running this type of scheme. So what you said, so really, really good in terms of the passing. But to your point, your move.
C
So most.
D
Yeah, some guys got rushed. I mean, some guys got washed out. And so that's why there was such big splash plays in the running game, because they're stunning guys across the face and they're scraping linebackers to go ahead and feel the outside. So they're taking away the outside run, but the middle of the field, there's nobody there. But overall, the two interior guys also had a good game. Also was able to get a lot of penetration for the season.
C
Yep.
D
Solomon Thomas had had a lot of really good high effort plays that created some havoc. Mozzie was actually. He's like a spark plug right now. That's kind of like, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. So you see, you see, like, okay, it caught on for a second, and then the next is like, ah. Like, it's not.
C
It's might have to hit the gas right times. Exactly.
D
It's like the long lighter. It's like the long lighter. You know what I'm saying? Like, when it works, it works. And then other times, you're like, come on, man.
A
What is going on?
D
So that's where Mozzie's at right now. But it's good. It's encouraging to see when he's on. He's freaking powerful. Yeah. And it's.
C
It's. It's.
D
It's very surprising because it doesn't look powerful. But then you look at the offensive lineman going backwards, you're like, dang, he's moving these guys. He's putting them on sleds. Yeah, I like to see that. I just want to see it more frequently. They.
A
They did pair Mozzie Smith with Kenny Clark a couple times. I liked that because 1. Mozzie Smith, when he was brought in here, was hopeful to be a nose tech. And then he loses all this.
C
Too little.
A
It just didn't work out. I think Mozzie can be a serviceable three Tech.
C
Yes.
A
I really do. In this league, somewhere has to get quicker. And it felt like there was just a. There was a pigeonholed role for him to try and fill. The nose tackle. That's what we brought you in here to do. That's what you got to do. And we need one right now. Good point. Now you don't need one. You have Kenny Clark as your nose tackle as you're super strong. Muddy up the middle. Defensive nose tackle. Now Mozzie Smith can kind of play free a Little bit and not. And he's not o said Yuzua. He's not your best. He's not twitchy roster, but he's better as a three tech than he is as a one for sure. And I think now that you've got those two guys to pair together, it makes it OSA Solomon and then not a massive drop off to Mozzie Smith and what he can do there too. I think that rotation bodes better for him. And you saw it on the film yesterday.
D
One thing that I like to point to that is important, the emotions from the defense. The defenders were playing with heightened emotions. They were excited. They were. For the first time ever, I saw Mozzie excited.
C
I saw that. Right.
D
Mozzie didn't make the play. But what Mozzie did on particular plays allow for his teammates to make the play and he celebrated as if he made the play. That's understand tell that's registering with him. I did my job. And because I did my job, the guy that I was trying to free up made the play. I'm hyped. Like that was so encouraging to see. And the stuff that you don't see on the film unless you go back and really watch it, that was encouraging to see. It was encouraging to see Trayvon Diggs celebrating from the cornerback role y while his teammates were getting sacks because he understood that this where I what I did on the outside took away where Justin Fields wanted to go with the ball. And because I did my job, my guys went out there and made the play. And you saw him celebrating the sack. It wasn't okay, we're walking off. Okay, good job. It was.
C
Yeah.
D
Let's go, baby. Like I because I took this away, we got the sack. So you're seeing this camaraderie really start to come to fruition. And then when you guys were talking about the defense all in in its totality, so much faster at the second level.
A
Way faster.
D
Shamar James is so decisive. Is he making all the right decisions? No. He's young, but he's decisive, man. And he's going, he's flying around. He's hitting, he's flying. He loves to hit. His energy's crazy. Kenneth Murray is still a tackling machine. Okay, so you got Kenneth Murray.
A
I like the scene from Kenneth.
D
Absolutely.
C
Yeah.
A
He gets lost in the sauce of a linebacker play. And bro, poor edge rusher setting the edge of times. I like what we've seen.
C
For the most part, he had a good game yesterday, but he did have a couple of misses like one of Bree Hall's when he has fast guys.
B
Like when you have guys like Shamar James and Maris Leaf that are able to clean up those things putting, you got to love it. Matt Eberflu is probably back there. Like they're beginning to believe, you know what I mean? Like, like Matrix Morpheus moment.
C
Sanborn was on, not James. So you're right.
D
Talk about the second level. You have Kenneth Murray who's attacking the machine in the middle. You book in him with Maris. Leopale, who's a freaking flying Hawaiian. Yeah, okay, Flying Hawaiian. Shamar James, who just wants to run through somebody's face, right? He's just a high effort guy. And then when you walk somebody down in the box, it's either Wanye Thomas or is Donovan Wilson. Both of those guys fly around in hit. So that second level, the reason why you're seeing the speed of the defense, the reason why you're seeing guys fly around and be a dog on moth to a flame right now is because you have those four, potentially five guys in that rotation at your second level. So you have your guys up front that are trying to get after the quarterback. Your second level is fast as all get out. They did a much better job of getting depth, right. Not allowing passes behind them and then playing downhill. That's why this defense feels different right now. And you, you replace a couple pieces, right. Unfortunately, that go out with injury, but opportunities present themselves in this league based on injuries. Malia Hooker goes out, Jack Sanborn goes out, Wanye comes in, Leo FAL comes in and James Jamar James come in.
B
It looks better.
A
Arguably there may be one more guy that they're missing. Remember at the end of that game, Donovan Wilson had to leave because of injury right at the end of the, the final defensive drive.
D
But you got Marquis Bell that could replace.
A
Yeah, absolutely. You feel comfortable there. But Donovan Wilson, that was probably his best game of the year because he's doing what they.
D
What he does best.
A
Best. He plays down, not playing coverage.
D
He's a box.
A
We've been saying this since 2019.
D
Yeah. And if, unfortunately, if Donald's out, you have another box safety that can come in and replace. So I'm saying like guys are. It's like Eber Floose is figuring out I can't just plug guys into my system. Right. I'm learning what these guys do best and I'm putting them in position to be successful. And then the second half of the year, don't you get another guy back.
A
We'll talk about Agent Zero when he comes back in like a month. We'll see. But when we come back, we've got to do some smelly stickers. We got to give credit to those.
C
Yeah.
A
A huge impact in the 37:22 win over the New York Jets. More to come with talking Cowboys after this.
D
Yeah.
B
I'm home.
D
Hey, mom, before you ask, I've done.

C
Yes, sir. You know what, I'm just going to go ahead and put it on out there. I've chosen a mango.
A
Okay.
C
Chosen a mango. Would you like to know why? Of course.
D
Why is that, sir?
B
Bingo. Didn't play.
C
This meant mango.
B
Oh, mango.
C
Mango. This mango is for Ryan Flournoy because Maine go off. Okay.
A
I love workplace.
C
Yeah. Ryan Flournoy went off career day, 114 yards in the air. Also added another 10 yards on the ground because why not on two attempts, average five per carry. Ryan Floy has been waiting for this day. And in addition to what I love that he did on the first field, I loved the conversation in the Q and A we had with him after the game and we asked about the patience and the mentality of it and he was just like, he plays for the Lord. And he said that when he's playing out there, the way he stays level is it's always a oneman show. There's only one fan that he's trying to impress. So that young man deserves it on all levels.
A
Very nicely done.
B
Ryan Flournoy, 1000%. Guys, in our our first of two trips to New York this year, a guy went off in the Big Apple.
C
Hey, hey.
B
All right. And he had a career day. A guy that we talked about last week. We're buying tickets for a movie. Which movie gonna see? And one of them was the Smashing Machine being Javante Williams and having a career day. His first ever 100 yard ground game. Amazing. For Javonte Williams, the juggernaut. I love it. And two tuddies to go along with it.
C
Yes, sir.
B
Let's go, baby. Javante Williams, congratulations to you. We've supported you from the get go, Kyle. Never had a doubt about Javante Williams. You heard it here first. Big apple goes to Javante Williams.
A
Williams I never had a problem with. It was a run game as a whole.
C
I had a question about.
A
Just to be very clear.
B
Any more questions, Kyle?
A
No, but I do have a stat. It was the first time since 1978 that the Cowboys have had a 100 yard rusher and a 100 yard receiver in the first half of a game. In a single half of it.
C
Is that good?
A
And it was Ryan Flanoy, your smelly sticker. And it was Javante Williams, your smelly sticker.
C
Fusion.
D
Boom.
A
Got it. Done. How about it on the nose? Hi there, Isaiah.
D
Hello, Kyle. I have a smelly sticker.
A
What's on your nose?
D
I smell it. You know what I smell?
A
What do you smell?
D
I smell two mangoes hanging out, crossing the legs, just chilling. Two fellas just hanging out, you know, because they took care of business. You know who those two fellas are?
A
Who's that?
D
They be Clayton Adams and Connor Riley.
A
That's what they are.
D
Those two guys just hanging out. You know why? Because they had never doubted it. They, y' all just finding out, boom, there it is right there in the front.
A
Oh, I love it.
B
Clayton Adams, strong head coaching candidate.
D
Don't do that.
A
Don't do that.
B
I'm just saying.
C
Settle down, Beavis.
B
I'm just saying at the totality of this year, you might settle down.
C
Just.
D
Hey, silence.
B
You might consider it.
A
First year head coaches in New York are like, oh, and 5. He doesn't want to go there anyway. He doesn't want to bury that deep.
D
Down inside and never bring it up again.
B
I don't want to lose them either. I like them.
C
Lock it up. Drop it in the ocean along with my. Okay.
D
Oh, no, no.
C
You gotta know the quote. Go ahead. You gotta know the rest of the quote.
D
Okay.
A
I don't know. I don't know it.
C
I'll show you after the show.
A
Okay. I don't know what's going on.
C
It's a bad boys quote. I'll show you after. Okay.
A
Okay. Just confused.
C
All right.
A
I'm a little thrown off here because I wanted to go with an offensive player, but all three of you guys did an offensive player. I think there needs to be a little bit of love for the defense.
B
Absolutely.
D
Do it, Kyle.
A
I think there needs to be my original smelly sticker and the reason I grabbed the macaroon, I was going to give it to Dak Prescott.
B
It's in French, though. You have to say in French.
A
Macaroon. Oh, is that how you say it? So one of the things about a macaroon is you have the icing and it's kind of smashed in the middle, you know, and so that was Dak Prescott. He was putting all together on the offensive side. That was going to be my original smelly sticker.
D
Okay.
A
But now I'm going to give it to Coach Eber flu.
C
Okay.
A
Because I think the defense as a whole, figuring it out, put it all together, and they pieced it together going into this matchup. Dak, you're an MVP caliber player. I. I will. I would give you a smelly sticker every week so far this year.
B
He'll probably get a few more.
A
He'll get a couple throughout the year. But I'm going to. I'm going to switch it up a little bit here. I'm going to give it to Coach Eber flu, because he is. He's starting to put it all together, and he's beginning to be pretty sweet like a Mac.
D
And he's only going to get stronger because guys are coming back.
C
Yes. Agent Zero, you got.
D
You still have multiple corners that are out.
A
Yeah. And you might be missing another safety this week.
D
Marquis comes in.
C
We'll see.
A
We'll see.
D
You're leading back from two years ago.
A
I. I think for as much as that defense has not played well, I think there needs to be credit where credit is due.
C
Absolutely.
A
They shut down a mobile quarterback in Justin Fields. Whether it was his choice or not, he did not run the football.
D
His mobile button didn't work.
A
The only thing that was really tough was the running game. And Breeze. Hall's an elite running back.
D
He's a dude.
A
One more thing before we get out of here. Patrick, can you hold up your sign real quick?
C
Yeah. Let's just watch the table. Let's just make sure that you guys understand.
A
I just. I want to say this. It does not mean the Cowboys are going to win the super bowl, but don't come at me with this.05 Talk with the new York Jets.
D
That's why we hit it in the beginning. We told everybody they were going to.
B
Say desperate team theory. And now let's not move any goal posts here.
A
Yeah, let's not move.
B
They really wanted to win that game.
A
Pittsburgh Steelers beat them in week one by two points.
C
Whatever.
A
The Pittsburgh Steelers, they're a one loss team right now. The Buffalo Bills beat them. Not as bad as the Cowboys did. It was 30 to 10 the final score. But it was a much closer game in that football game than this one was when it was 30 to 3. Cowboys, Buffalo 1 loss football team. Tampa Bay beat the jets by two points. Two points. And it took a last minute drive to go down and beat the New York jets while the Buccaneers were at home in that football game. So with all of this being said, don't move the goalposts. Don't move it. The Cowboys beat the jets down on the Sunday afternoon in week five. They get the win 37 22. I just thought it needed and that.
C
Take does not imply that the Cowboys Cowboys are going to win the Super Smiley.

On this Victory Monday, the Talkin’ Cowboys crew—Kyle Yeomans (Host), Patrick “No C” Walker, Josh Rodriguez, Isaiah Stanback, and Chris Beam—celebrate the Dallas Cowboys' first road win of 2025, a dominant 37-22 performance against the New York Jets. Broadcasting from The Star in Frisco, the hosts break down key moments, player performances, and coaching impact, while addressing what this win means in the broader season narrative.
Quote:
"It was a butt whooping from the get go… I don't care what the final score said, the final score still was a win 37–22."
—Kyle Yeomans (01:04)
Quote:
"You are seeing it. You do not, and I repeat, you do not get to your second and third people on the depth chart at the offensive line and maintain your productivity… It doesn't happen in this league."
—Isaiah Stanback (18:31)
Quote:
"Let me tell you something about number 19… Ryan Flournoy. Career game… 114 on six receptions."
—Patrick Walker & Crew (07:32–07:56)
Depth Targeted: Notable contributors included wideouts like Flournoy and a ground game thriving despite missing multiple starters.
No CeeDee, No Problem: Cowboys win the game without CeeDee Lamb catching a single pass for the first time since his drafting.
Quote:
"The first time the defense got any resemblance of a pass rush all year long. You know what happened?... Secondary looked pretty good. Correct."
—Kyle Yeomans & Patrick Walker (05:18–05:37)
Detailed Film Note:
Iberflus loves to rely on front four pressure via creative stunts. That’s great for pass rushing, but moving linemen so aggressively can create gaps for the run game (31:24–32:57).
Quote:
"This does NOT—underline, in all caps—not imply the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl, which I completely agree with."
