Kyle Yeomans
We did two weeks ago. We like set a goal. Last week was just kind of. We're just chatting, you know, we're just taking it easy. Just goofing, you know, just goofing around.
Josh Rodriguez
You know, we could goof around last week.
Kyle Yeomans
You're such a. Yeah, we can't goof around.
Josh Rodriguez
We can't goof around.
Isaiah Stanback
Monday's gone. It's Tuesday.
Kyle Yeomans
Is it? Stand back.
Josh Rodriguez
Yeah. Like the midnight rule.
Isaiah Stanback
It's like.
Josh Rodriguez
No, I'm still feel this for a few days, man.
Isaiah Stanback
24 hours.
Josh Rodriguez
I mean, we. I.
Isaiah Stanback
Okay, I'll give you until after news and notes.
Josh Rodriguez
After news and notes.
Kyle Yeomans
You'Re going to.
Patrick Walker
Give me until we start talking about the packers tomorrow?
Isaiah Stanback
Two whole days, bro.
Patrick Walker
I'm not the one that has to put the helmet on. I don't have to go to the meeting room, mind you. Mind you, I get more than a midnight.
Josh Rodriguez
We're taking calls today. So you think they're gonna be. Yeah, all positive.
Isaiah Stanback
Well, but we all can't be sitting here sulking.
Patrick Walker
Oh, it's not sulking. Be not mistaken. It's not. It's not soaking. It is passivity, but it's not soaking.
Isaiah Stanback
Five minutes after.
Patrick Walker
I don't know.
Josh Rodriguez
I'm. I'm blood red.
Patrick Walker
Five and a half.
Isaiah Stanback
Five and a half.
Patrick Walker
Five & a half.
Josh Rodriguez
I'm just blood red mad all day.
Kyle Yeomans
Five minutes and 46 seconds, please. All right. By the way, last night had a great conversation on the Cowboys hour. Had sidecar social with one Kevonte Turpin.
Patrick Walker
Okay.
Kyle Yeomans
Last night, it was great.
Patrick Walker
Good.
Kyle Yeomans
I did have you tell him that.
Patrick Walker
Was a great catch.
Kyle Yeomans
It was a great catch. We talked about the catch. We talked about his mentality through it all and how he knew he was going to get ear holed and stuck through with the ball. It was really cool. He did a great job on the show last night. It was with Nicole Hutchison, who of course was just here with Girls Talk, Boys Talk, Young Hutch. This morning I did ask them the question, which nickname is better? Oh, I asked him right at the end. You can go look at it. Oh, yeah, there is, there is tape evidence. And I threw them out there. I didn't throw any allegiance to any of the nicknames, but I. A couple of the nicknames.
Josh Rodriguez
But before you, before you say that, what was your nickname?
Patrick Walker
Tasmanian Terp.
Kyle Yeomans
Oh, I didn't, I didn't use that exactly.
Patrick Walker
Which makes it awful.
Kyle Yeomans
I used.
Patrick Walker
But continue your.
Isaiah Stanback
Because I thought that was.
Josh Rodriguez
The Torpedo is mine.
Kyle Yeomans
And that's.
Patrick Walker
There's a reason that.
Kyle Yeomans
Sorry. Beamer offer up. I'm mixing.
Patrick Walker
So what did you present to him?
Kyle Yeomans
I presented Turpy. Turpy Speed. Speed. And he said he liked it. And then I also presented the torpedo and he said no, scratch that one out. What?
Isaiah Stanback
Interesting.
Patrick Walker
Almost Beam. Almost as interesting.
Kyle Yeomans
Sorry, Beam. I thought I would have scratched out.
Patrick Walker
No, it wasn't. He didn't offer mine up at all. Which makes that entire ballot void.
Isaiah Stanback
I just got to go back, get.
Kyle Yeomans
Online and send my, my, my Turpin jersey.
Patrick Walker
That's it.
Kyle Yeomans
Go and return the offer.
Patrick Walker
A reason. He knew what was going to happen.
Kyle Yeomans
No, I did. I offered it up because I thought Torpedo was yours. But Torpedo is Beams. That's unfortunate. I would have never put Beam in that situation.
Patrick Walker
And yet you did.
Josh Rodriguez
But you.
Kyle Yeomans
Yes, but I, but Pat, like I.
Patrick Walker
Was trying to make your own people.
Josh Rodriguez
But he liked speed.
Kyle Yeomans
Speed. But he did like turvy turby speed.
Josh Rodriguez
And he says he hears it a lot.
Kyle Yeomans
He said his favorite one of all time was one from high school and he was called Video Game.
Josh Rodriguez
That's pretty cool.
Kyle Yeomans
And I was like, that's pretty sweet.
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah.
Kyle Yeomans
Being called Video Game just as like a joystick.
Patrick Walker
Yeah.
Kyle Yeomans
Running through everybody Which I could see that with Turpin, but the people.
Patrick Walker
Circle button, jute button.
Isaiah Stanback
I think she's throwing the magic man.
Patrick Walker
Magic man.
Kyle Yeomans
Now you see me. Now you don't.
Isaiah Stanback
You like it. I know you do.
Patrick Walker
I saw it.
Josh Rodriguez
You're the Neil DeGrasse. That's my nickname for him now. Yeah. You see that where he's like demonstrating?
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah. Ocean. Yeah. All right, let's get into news.
Isaiah Stanback
Oh, shucks.
Patrick Walker
Must we?
Kyle Yeomans
No, I don't want.
Josh Rodriguez
I told you.
Isaiah Stanback
You got five timer.
Kyle Yeomans
Five and a half minutes at the timer.
Patrick Walker
Oh, the live long day. But this passivity shall live on. All right, so let's start with the good. The good news is. Is twofold. Number one, it does appear that Jadevion Clowney will make his debut for the Cowboys this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Kyle Yeomans
That's good stuff.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. So we like that. We like it a lot.
Kyle Yeomans
And that was courtesy of Jerry Jones.
Patrick Walker
That was courtesy of. Well, actually was courtesy of Stephen Jones.
Kyle Yeomans
Stephen yesterday and then Jerry backed it.
Patrick Walker
Up today on both on 153 the fan. So that. That looks like it's. It's a go. Also on the good news front, Duron Bland is expected and on track to return from his foot injury against the Green Bay packers as well.
Kyle Yeomans
Let's get stuck on the right track.
Patrick Walker
Two defensive players. Yep. Two defensive players getting back impact. Yeah. And which side of the ball is struggling the most right now.
Kyle Yeomans
Defense.
Patrick Walker
Defense. All right, now offensive side of the ball. Now we go to the bad news. Yeah. That was the good news. Here's the bad news.
Kyle Yeomans
Can't stop there.
Patrick Walker
No, can't stop. Won't stop.
Isaiah Stanback
It's time already.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. Great. So city Lamb, let's start there. City Lamb, as we all know, has the high ankle sprain and his timeline is varying depending on who you talk to. What day of the. You know, what time of the day you're talking. It is all over the place.
Kyle Yeomans
All over the place.
Patrick Walker
On one note, it's. Well, let's go ahead and. And state that he will not play against the Green Bay Packers. Yeah. So let's be clear on that. But I've heard everything. Yeah, I know. Right? I've heard everything from. It'll be a week to week evaluation after the Green Bay packers game. He put.
Kyle Yeomans
That is.
Patrick Walker
But it was a body catch. It's okay. You gotta extend Jerry Rice.
Josh Rodriguez
Why'd you jump when you had a catch buddy player?
Patrick Walker
So. Yeah. So CD Lamb, his. His timeline is all over the place. But we know he's not going to play against the Green Bay packers and I'm just going to treat it as a week to week thereafter because I've heard everything from 2 to 3 to 2 to 4 to 3 to 5 week to week on CD Lamb. But scratch him against the Green Bay.
Kyle Yeomans
Packer and it is a high ankle.
Patrick Walker
It is a high ankle sprain.
Kyle Yeomans
So the way with high ankle sprains vary from everybody. Everybody wants to tab the four to six weeks as the normal default.
Patrick Walker
Yeah.
Kyle Yeomans
Which that still is very possible. But with a wide receiver like CD Lamb, there's. It goes twofold. One, you look at him, you say, well he needs to be able to cut and move and go laterally and accelerate. What do you need to do that? You need your ankle to do that and you need it to be healthy. So even if he is returning and he's able to play, it probably won't be 100% within that four to six week window. The second part about it is that he's been very durable throughout his career and when he has missed time, he's been very quick to get back to it. I thought Stephen Jones yesterday put it in a very simple term. He said he heals quick. And I was like, okay, I guess that that's not the doctor term.
Josh Rodriguez
And he's a tough dude. I mean he played all of last season with one shoulder with a sprained AC joint.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah. All the way through it. So I.
Josh Rodriguez
Tough dude.
Kyle Yeomans
I wouldn't pass him getting back. But the fact that they're not going to put him on ir, that's a win.
Patrick Walker
That does bode well for him. And a little birdie told me that yesterday CD Lamb was doing some rehab work on the field outside alongside Trevon Diggs with trainer Brit Brown. And he was, you know, running, cutting, doing some, some, I'm not going to say full speed, but it was brisk jogging in between his cuts and he was, you know, doing everything he needed to do and that he was moving fairly well. Now that being said, he was also spotted in the building thereafter on the scooter. So my thought process is taking both of those data points together is that they, they like that he can be back far sooner than a four week period, which is why they're not putting him on the ir. But when he's not rehabbing, they do not want him on that leg or that ankle at so. So that's not great news for CD but certainly far from worst case scenario.
Isaiah Stanback
What's the craziest rumor that you heard revolving around cd?
Patrick Walker
The craziest would. I wouldn't say crazy, but I did hear the default 4 to 6, and it was. It was never viewed as 4 to 6.
Isaiah Stanback
Oh, that. He was on a flight to Germany to go get stem cells and all kinds of other stuff.
Patrick Walker
Really?
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah. Well, there's a lot of stuff.
Patrick Walker
I mean.
Kyle Yeomans
I mean, that wasn't a rumor.
Isaiah Stanback
I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on. There's a lot going around.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. I mean.
Kyle Yeomans
Internet, he's in the building.
Isaiah Stanback
Internet. I'm just. That's why. Internet's a wild place.
Kyle Yeomans
October fist, they have that at AT&T Stadium. It's fine.
Patrick Walker
Nice plug.
Kyle Yeomans
Thank you.
Patrick Walker
Nice plug to the curveball. This is also on the offensive side. Curveball came out of left field yesterday.
Kyle Yeomans
Tyler Booker, that's not where curveballs would.
Patrick Walker
Well, actually, as an outfielder, I can tell you they curve.
Kyle Yeomans
Keep going.
Patrick Walker
They curve. Yeah.
Isaiah Stanback
Wait a minute.
Patrick Walker
They don't all. Yeah, he said.
Kyle Yeomans
He said a curveball out of left field.
Patrick Walker
That's fair. That's fair.
Kyle Yeomans
You throw in.
Patrick Walker
Can curve. You better learn how to slice. Isaiah knows because you know outfield stuff.
Josh Rodriguez
But when you're hitting home base from the third place.
Isaiah Stanback
What's going on with Tyler Booker?
Patrick Walker
Damn it, Kyle. Okay, so Tyler Booker, he is out for now. This looks like a true four to six week time.
Caller
Oh, yeah.
Patrick Walker
This is a true.
Isaiah Stanback
What are you talking about right now?
Patrick Walker
No, seriously. At some point in the game, there's late in the game.
Josh Rodriguez
It was before that interception.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. Final few reps, just like you can kind of pinpoint when it may have happened. But he popped back up. So he played every single snap in the game. We saw him in the locker room after the game. He was fine. No boot? No. Not a. Not a single device. No indication. Okay. We talked to Shoddy yesterday. No indication. No one knew that Tyler Booker was dealing with this situation.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah, they kept that under wrap.
Patrick Walker
Right. Shortly thereafter, after the press conference. Kaboom. Tyler Booker is out for projected four to six weeks. A true four to six weeks. And he is likely to be headed to IR this. So with what last week. It's a high ankle sprain. It's a hikle sprain. A little bit more. A little bit more severe than CDs. And like Jerry Jones said on 153 the Fan and Steven Jones said yesterday, difference between those two being not only severity, but just the size of the individual trying to come.
Josh Rodriguez
Yeah, the bigger you are, the harder it is to come back from a higher.
Patrick Walker
And that's just facts. So hence Cooper BB is now the offensive line that lost Cooper BB to IR one week prior will likely lose Tyler Booker to IR this week. So you're seeing Brock Hoffman at starting center and TJ Bass is going to be next in line at right guard. Our pets heads are falling off.
Josh Rodriguez
I thought you said five minutes.
Patrick Walker
Right?
Isaiah Stanback
He told me to stop the timer.
Josh Rodriguez
Oh, okay.
Kyle Yeomans
So the time stopped.
Patrick Walker
What? Yeah. Seriously?
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah.
Patrick Walker
Completely outlift you. It's just.
Kyle Yeomans
And remember you did and now you're did pick up Trevor Keegan from waivers off Philadelphia's waivers. I'm not saying stop. I'm just saying these are the options outside of it. It's not good.
Isaiah Stanback
Well, your first option was Brock Hoffman in the game. Oh, that's right.
Kyle Yeomans
He's already in the game.
Isaiah Stanback
Sorry. You're to your third. You're now third offensive guard. Yeah.
Kyle Yeomans
You're down. You're too young.
Patrick Walker
Second.
Kyle Yeomans
You're second string center. Yep.
Isaiah Stanback
Third string offensive guard.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. And. And Bass is a gamer. But my. My problem is is there is now. Now that I've seen Tyler Booker on an NFL field. There's a drop off there. Yep. But also there's the comp. It's the combo that. I mean you're going against this Green Bay packers defensive front and you have two backups right there in the middle of it. That's. That's who.
Josh Rodriguez
Aside from Michael Parsons and not even to dismiss him. But they're a great defensive front. Carried away Enzo before and after Michael Parsons.
Patrick Walker
So.
Isaiah Stanback
Well, since you brought his name up, I don't know if you guys have been watching the Green Bay packers to date, but he's been lining up over the center a lot.
Josh Rodriguez
Yeah, he loves doing it.
Kyle Yeomans
He loves that. And they love dq.
Patrick Walker
Started that.
Isaiah Stanback
Yes. Well, because they say why thank you.
Kyle Yeomans
It allows Gary to go on an island outside against Cleveland. And yeah, it's ISO.
Isaiah Stanback
They like the ISO. Micah on your center or your guard? Jesus.
Kyle Yeomans
TJ Brock Hoffman.
Isaiah Stanback
Is it commercial time yet?
Kyle Yeomans
I mean we can maybe go.
Isaiah Stanback
We should probably do that.
Patrick Walker
What happened to the 5 minute rule?
Isaiah Stanback
Need to break.
Kyle Yeomans
Gotta go to break. Any more NASA notes, Pat?
Patrick Walker
No, we had too good. Too bad. Too good on the defensive side. Too bad on the offensive side. And now let's. Let's give it to a commercial.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah. When we come back we're going to take your calls. 888-855-2297. We're going to need you to cheer us up. Especially for Isaiah's purpose. He thought that 24 hour rule still applied. But TJ or excuse me, but Tyler Booker is out for four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. We will talk about that and a whole lot more with more Talking Tuesday right after this.

I'm old enough to know that sound. That song sounds like one of those old ITT Tech commercials. And if you know, you know, just go to YouTube and find it. You see what I'm talking about?
Josh Rodriguez
It sounds like an auto commercial.
Isaiah Stanback
You was here before Mory.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. You know, I mean, oh, my.
Kyle Yeomans
It's like on at 3am and now you, like, fell asleep with commercial.
Josh Rodriguez
You are not the father. It's time for Talk Tuesday.
Patrick Walker
He was like, what are you doing? You're sitting on your sofa. You're looking at me. You couldn't be studying for Isaiah. Five minutes are up.
Kyle Yeomans
Huh? You know what? I know will cheer you up here, Isaiah. You know, talking to the fans. Talking to Mike in New York. Our first caller is on the line. Mike, what's going on? I need you to bring the energy.
Caller
Yeah, we need a better pass rush. And can we actually cover somebody? I mean, come on. I mean, that game on Sunday was horrible. It's that one touchdown. Dude. Where's our secondary? I could have went out and covered. I'm, like, standing the tv. I'm like, come on. Like, our secondary's horrible. Horrible.
Patrick Walker
I love that. Mike, hold on. Really quickly, before you even come off of that.
Isaiah Stanback
I'm gonna go now to Texas and.
Caller
I want a coach. I want to coach. I'm going to say, let's go, Mike.
Patrick Walker
I don't know if You've ever seen Family Guy. I don't know how familiar you are with Stewie, but you just did the Stewie by accident where he was like, do we have a pass rush?
Caller
Can we even cover any money?
Isaiah Stanback
Are you gonna play decent this week?
Caller
Oh, man.
Patrick Walker
Classic.
Kyle Yeomans
I love it. I love it. Thank you so much for the call, Mike.
Josh Rodriguez
Appreciate you speaking for the fan as a whole, I think. Yeah, absolutely. What, what can we do as fans to get these guys more involved? Actually cover some guys. I mean, it's, it's rough to watch. And as a fan, you're sort of sitting there hopeless. You're like, wait a second, I know these guys are better than what we're seeing on tape, right? They have to, to be. They have to be. And being as someone who's seen this team throughout camp, granted, it's the only football team we get to watch at camp. Right. At several points during this camp, I was like, this was.
Isaiah Stanback
This looks pretty good, man.
Josh Rodriguez
I like these guys.
Patrick Walker
I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say these guys are good.
Josh Rodriguez
And especially, you know, guys like Kyrie Elam, Jack Sanborn, guys that you thought at camp, like, all right, I'm seeing something here. I just triggered Isaiah a little bit.
Isaiah Stanback
She put that on me, put that on me.
Kyle Yeomans
Ricky Bobby, question mark.
Josh Rodriguez
It's flabbergasted.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah, the question mark to me is I'm a pole. In talking with Barry and in talking with some of these other defensive minded guys over the last couple days, I keep hearing the same thing. And honestly, you and I have the same conversation too. It's simple. This is simple stuff from a scheme standpoint. You're running stuff that you've learned all the way back in the early years. And this is, We've had this conversation on the show and then you talk to some of the guys kind of off the record, just in locker room yesterday and after the game on Sunday. And when you're talking to these guys, they say, oh, there's just no communication and people are trying to pick up the scheme. It's like, why are we still trying to pick up the scheme? It's week three. Where was the lapse to get to this point on a simple scheme to start with, right? Not only are you, you're frustrated at the results and you're frustrated at the big plays because in Shoddy talked about it yesterday too, you're not just giving up 15 to 20 yards per play, you're giving up 30, 35 yard plays, these big downfield plays. And that's busted coverage. That's bad situation, that's bad eyes, that's bad everything on the defensive side. And yet it's a simple scheme at the same time.
Patrick Walker
I really think it's just a combination of a lot of things going wrong at the exact same time. Perfect storm of errors, miscommunication. It's guys being asked to do things that they don't excel at. It's injury, it's, it's this, it's that, it's the third. It's. It's quite literally just everything that could be going wrong right now for this defense is really going wrong really quickly.
Josh Rodriguez
I think it is a parallel to last season. Two, when you're talking about Mike Zimmer trying to install a new defense, a new coordinator at the time last year and Jordan Lewis had brought something up halfway through the season where he's talking about the details and it's guys that are going above and beyond the role that they are given in that given defense and trying to clean up too much. We were looking at it yesterday with Donovan Wilson getting out of his zone to cover up the run when he is indeed supposed to be covering the space in the zone in the backfield that is wide open for a touchdown. I mean, it's. It is paying attention to the detail and manning your position and knowing your job and not trying to clean up for everybody else because everyone needs to be on their own.
Patrick Walker
And I'll add to this, man. I mean, no matter how you slice it, no matter how you slice it, let's just keep it a stack. If you trade a generational pass rusher away six days ahead of the season, you're not putting your defensive coordinator in a good spot. Sure, you're just not.
Kyle Yeomans
And not to keep defending coach Eber flu, but when. When Eber Fluss is getting a lot of the. The negativity and a lot of the pushback for all of this and some of it deservedly so. But at some point, when are we going to look at it and say, oh, these guys weren't very good with Zimmer, they weren't very good with Eber Fluss. They of course had a great time with. With Dan Quinn.
Patrick Walker
Damn good time.
Kyle Yeomans
Damn good time with Dan Quinn. When are we going to look at it and say these guys just don't fit here and they don't play well, they're just not good at what they do well? I mean, when is that going to be the point? It's just these guys can't play.
Patrick Walker
Yeah. And I Think that. Well, first I'll put an asterisk on because they had a damn good time with Dan Quinn until the playoffs. Very true.
Kyle Yeomans
The Green Bay Packers.
Isaiah Stanback
Oh.
Patrick Walker
Because let's. Let's not. Let's not forget about some things to make other things look. Let's just put it all out there. But to answer your question, Kyle, I think that's a valid conversation. I think it's a conversation if we're about to find out if. If it. No, no. We're about to find out if it's true what Schottenheimer said, which would go to your point. Schottenheimer said they've had meetings about changes that are coming potentially with the scheme, potentially with the personnel. So that makes me wonder if that type of conversation is already being had between the coordinators and Schottenheimer because he said in his press conference, he said the standard is not being met. Yeah. So changes have to be made.
Kyle Yeomans
Because there are times where I look at the film and you're playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage on third down and two, and I'm saying, okay, that's the scheme. But then there are other times where it's just wrong place, wrong time, wrong step in the wrong direction at this time instead of going that direction. And it's just coverage wise, you're not in the right spot and that's going to be a problem. So at times it's technique, at times it's scheme. It's all bad on the defensive side.
Patrick Walker
Oh, no. We'll take another call, but I want Isaiah to weigh in on the next call. Just. He is biting his tongue, so.
Isaiah Stanback
No, I just. That was one caller. We got to get seven more, that's all.
Kyle Yeomans
Why are you biting your tongue?
Isaiah Stanback
I'm not biting my tongue. I thought we were supposed to cheek guy myself.
Kyle Yeomans
I. You are done. All right, Brian is our next caller. What's going on, Brian?
Caller
Good morning, gentlemen.
Kyle Yeomans
Good morning, Brian.
Caller
Oh, man. So, you know, here's the. I'm just going to give you a what if and ask each one of you to tell me what you would do.
Patrick Walker
Okay.
Caller
If. If Jerry calls in tomorrow and says, hey, you know what, I'm hanging up the cleats as the gm, I'm just gonna go watch the games from. From the box. And you're the gm, what's the first thing you change to try to turn this around personally? And this is just a guess, you know, I've never coached or done anything like that a day in my life, but mine is I think next week I start clowning in Houston because the other guys aren't getting it done and they've had a chance already. And I make it that that would be the first thing I would change. Can't change injuries. You know, they are what they are. That's the first thing I would look at. And I'll hang up and listen to Yalls answer. Good to talk to you.
Kyle Yeomans
Thank you, Brian.
Josh Rodriguez
Thank you.
Kyle Yeomans
And that's a great question. Great question. I know what Isaiah would do.
Josh Rodriguez
Isaiah, stand back at quarterback.
Patrick Walker
You're going to have to speak. I know the Tyler Booker thing. Really?
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah.
Patrick Walker
That hurt. You're going to have to bounce back, I don't think.
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah, that's gonna hurt in a major way for a while. The reason why it hurts is because the first. The first half of your season, and we said this on the post game.
Patrick Walker
You'Re not going to get away from answering Brian's question.
Isaiah Stanback
I'm going to answer Brian's question. But, like, I need people to understand the severity of the timing of these injuries. The Dallas Cowboys, in order to have remotely. Be remotely successful this year, needed to win the first half of the season.
Patrick Walker
Yep.
Josh Rodriguez
Because the second half is not second half.
Isaiah Stanback
You just. You just.
Kyle Yeomans
No, you're gonna have a tough time.
Isaiah Stanback
You're gonna be hitting on all cylinders and be fully healthy to combat those teams.
Josh Rodriguez
See how Detroit played last night?
Patrick Walker
Yeah.
Isaiah Stanback
Detroit's amazing.
Josh Rodriguez
So you're playing them and then Philly and then.
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah, no, so. So this is compromising your ability to get off to a good start and go into that. That bye week in week 10 with a winning record. So, anyways, the first thing that I would do. First of all, I don't think Jerry Double J's had a bad run in terms of injuries, and the whole organization has. There's. There's talent on this team. These guys are fully capable of playing. They're not showing you at this moment. And I can't put my finger as to why that is. If I were playing coach slash gm, I guess if I'm the GM and I'm calling and telling the coach what I was wondering, I was like, yeah, I mean, whatever. However you guys want to look at it, if I'm shoddy, I'm. There are guys in a secondary that I'm. That I'm sitting. That's just the reality. I would go back to guys who have made huge contributions to you in the past in Wanye Thomas and Marquis Bell. These are guys who were leading your team in tackles. But yet they're now subjected to just be a special teams contributors. Marquis Bell two years ago had 100 tackles last time I checked. He now he just runs down on kickoffs and punts. Make it make sense. There's, there's something he could be doing. Maris Leopold is one of the few guys that actually got a jam in cover three and you know, played two to, you know, played his, played his coverage the way he was supposed to. So I would give him more opportunities. I would not have any entitlement to guys based upon their salaries. And that tends to happen in the NFL often. There are plenty of guys like the Bells, like the Wanye's, like the Mares leaf House that don't get opportunities because coaches are either have favoritism towards certain individuals or certain players paychecks state that they should be playing first over guys who may be more capable to fit schemes and maybe more capable to make plays. So I would like to see that go away because we heard the word competition all through training camp.
Patrick Walker
Yeah.
Isaiah Stanback
And there are individuals whose play through these first three games don't show that they should still be receiving the opportunities that they're receiving. I'll put it that way. But because of affiliations, comfortability or paycheck, some of these guys are still on the field. And I believe that if what you said in training camp was true, if a backup performs better than a starter, we saw those rotations happen in training camp. Starter goes back, second guy comes up and gets more reps in practice. That doesn't seem to be the case now that the games are present. And I would like to see that. See these coaches keep that same energy for me.
Patrick Walker
And I love Brian's thought process from a coaching standpoint because I'm with Isaiah. If you're the gm, you shouldn't be making those decisions. So let's just say from a coaching standpoint, I like the idea of Jadevion Clowney and James Houston starting to. Let's see what that looks like. Okay. I love Isaiah's point because I was thinking that as well literally before you said it, I'm like one year Marquis and you said it. Kaboom. There you go. I would go from a coaching standpoint, let's go to the middle of the field. I'm putting Marisley afoul on the field early and often. Yeah. And that's at the expense of Jack Sanborn. Yes.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah, that's, that's, that would be the first move.
Patrick Walker
That's my first coaching decision. And. But if he wants, he Being Brian, if he wants the GM question, I'm flipping at least one of those picks I got from Green Bay for a marquee defensive player, likely an edge rusher.
Kyle Yeomans
I'm not there yet. I don't think this team is one piece away. I, I'm not there.
Patrick Walker
I don't know. I don't know that they are one piece. Well, actually I'll go ahead and agree that they're not one piece away. One piece anime, if you don't know. But what I would say is if you combine this move with the coaching decisions that we're talking about, then maybe you now have a. Maybe you're cooking with something there. Maybe you're starting to brew up a good recipe. Maybe if it's one year Thomas and Marquis Bell, plus Marisley Afoul, plus James Houston getting more burned, plus your Davion Clowney, and then you throw in some, some kind of marquee addition on the defense. I think those things could be a recipe.
Kyle Yeomans
As exciting as that might be to, to go and get a marquee defensive player. And trust me, if they go get the right guy, then I'm fine with it. But I said it when the trade happened. The Micah trade was not a 2025 move. That was a 2026, 27 move. And so with the way that, the way that this defense is so broken right now, I don't have the faith that one guy is going to come in and change that to the point where this is a playoff push type of team. Because that's all that's the ultimate goal is not to make the tournament. Right now you're hoping they have the talent to make the playoffs, but that's not the goal. The goal is to go and win the whole damn thing. And I'm not going to do that with one extra player. If you're going to go get a guy and it's the right guy, fine. But I would rather see what happens and then use those picks later on to fill in where you're going to need it.
Josh Rodriguez
And I don't want to name names here, but I think there are vested players on your team that could be worth something there on the market that I don't think you see a future for sure. There are quite a few and at least for me currently, that's. I would start building capital for the future.
Isaiah Stanback
I I for me, that's your GM.
Josh Rodriguez
That's my, that's my GM, my coaching hat. Marisley foul. Absolutely.
Kyle Yeomans
100.
Josh Rodriguez
I don't need to see the current Linebacker core as they stand, not naming names. I don't want to see the current linebacker corps as they stand on the field again, period.
Patrick Walker
I named a name.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah.
Patrick Walker
Continue.
Kyle Yeomans
All right, Antoine from Pasadena is our next caller. Antoine, what's going on, my friend?
Caller
Good morning, man. How are you?
Kyle Yeomans
Great.
Isaiah Stanback
How are you?
Caller
I'm fine. Hey, tell me something about this kid, number 25, Trickweasey Bridges. Yeah, he had a good game on tape. And you have Freddy Stewart. Those are two. Two guys. I'm not saying you can build a secondary round, but their efforts, yeah, their effort is exactly what you want to see out of the George Pickens of the world and out of the Lozzie Smith of the world. And it would be nice if there was a message the rest of the team that it's going to be effort that carries this team through the rest of the season. It's going to be the effort that makes up for the injuries. What are your thoughts?
Kyle Yeomans
Appreciate you in the question as well. Bridges in and ready. Steward, were those two guys, of course, that were late in the edition, they were the first waiver wire wave that came in. So a lot of Cowboys fans are seeing them really for the first time because of that depth overall. Thank you for the call and thank you for the question. But what did you see from those guys?
Isaiah Stanback
I think those guys are great run fits. I don't see them as coverage guys right now. They might be good zone coverage guys if they know their responsibilities. I honestly didn't spend a lot of time watching them individually, so I would have to go back to speak in more detail about them. But I do know, and I did mention this, you know, off, off air, those guys are going to come up and hit you. So I do agree with you on the effort aspect. If I'm putting on my GM hat, I am one that would load up my team with high effort individuals. Very much so. Like Detroit.
Josh Rodriguez
And I'm so glad you bring it up.
Isaiah Stanback
Somebody we saw last night also.
Patrick Walker
Yeah.
Josh Rodriguez
Who was here. Who was here in training 2024.
Kyle Yeomans
Say the name again, just to be clear.
Josh Rodriguez
Al Kadin.
Patrick Walker
Muhammad.
Kyle Yeomans
There you go.
Josh Rodriguez
And you saw him last. Last night make at least three two, seven two and a half.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah. With the Detroit Lions.
Josh Rodriguez
Played lights at lights out for the.
Isaiah Stanback
Started for them.
Josh Rodriguez
Started for them. Playing across the. Across from Hutchinson. Yes, absolutely. And just high effort guy that's making plays that is earned spot and is fighting for that position. And I do not think you have enough guys like that on this team currently that are doing that and I was.
Patrick Walker
And Shamar James mad, I think James Houston in that.
Isaiah Stanback
James Houston.
Josh Rodriguez
Is that James Houston is one of those guys. Shamar James.
Isaiah Stanback
Yep.
Josh Rodriguez
Still inactive. I don't understand it. Guys like that, that need to earn that spot, I think that are hungry, you need out there and you're just not seeing it right now.
Isaiah Stanback
And. And so to that point, it's a.
Josh Rodriguez
Very well said because some guys are just giving this like it goes, that's my boy. Like it goes to throw him out there.
Isaiah Stanback
It goes to my point that I was saying some coaches have affiliations. So you talk about like a Sandborn, right? Okay, I understand he. He understands your system. He comes in, all right, boom, he's your guy. But once the game start and you put on the film, it's like, okay, okay, I'm waiting. And if you don't see it, you have to make a change, right? You have, you look at the secondary. We're running basic schemes. All right, I understand that you're high paid. Understand we just, we gave you the bag a couple years ago or maybe even last year. But if you can't get the job done and you're not executing what I'm telling you, I'm going to the next man that is ready and willing to let me see if he wants to.
Kyle Yeomans
Right.
Isaiah Stanback
Because it's the next man up mentality. You don't want to do it. I can't make you do anything. You're a grown man. You make your own decisions, right? You have a paycheck, you have a contract. You decide to do what we're asking you to do or quote, unquote, not understand what we're doing. Okay, cool. You be in that moment. I'm going to the next guy. That's, that's how this league works. There's no feelings, there's no emotion. Like nobody, nobody's coming to care about your feelings.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah.
Isaiah Stanback
We have a mission. And if you can't get the job done, I'm going on to the next guy. Last night I'm watching that game and I text my guy. I was livid because last year at training camp, during, during the preseason games, I talked about him. I said, that's my dude. When I watch him in practice, my eye just is attracted to individuals like that. I'm like, he's a dude. He's a guy. Yeah. Does he need some more moves? Yeah, but look at his body type and look at his effort. You can't teach either one of those things.
Kyle Yeomans
And I'll back this up because I Remember standing there. We were in the back corner of the end zone, closest to the tunnel, where the players walk out, and the defense was going that direction. The offense was coming toward us, and we were. I remember watching, and Muhammad was on the side of the line of scrimmage, and Isaiah is sitting here. He's like, damn, it's like that 92 cat or whatever number it was. I remember you said the number. Was it 92. I can't remember what. What his number was, but it was one of the. Whatever his number was. I remember you saying, man, that you didn't even have his name yet. You were like, he's. He's real. And I mean, like you said, there was. There were growing pains. There were things that he needed to learn to get there.
Isaiah Stanback
But look where he's at.
Kyle Yeomans
He. He just showed. He announced his presence to the National Football League on a national stage last.
Isaiah Stanback
He almost has as many sex as your entire team from last night's game.
Kyle Yeomans
That's true.
Isaiah Stanback
Crazy.
Patrick Walker
And the Ravens in Baltimore in big, bold letters.
Josh Rodriguez
In big, bold letters, next man up should not just apply to injury. You should be able to look at the guys that you have on the field and say, we need to make.
Isaiah Stanback
It like they said in training camp.
Josh Rodriguez
And like that energy. And I'll give Shoddy a credit because he said it yesterday. He's like, we're going to make personnel changes.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah.
Josh Rodriguez
We're going to take a hard look. You hope to see it.
Isaiah Stanback
And I know we got to get this next caller. Just be direct. Don't break the things that we're referring to. They're inexcusable. Like, the mistakes that are happening are beyond inexcusable. These are the most simplistic people I'll talk about after the game. Oh, we're going to have to get to a more simplistic defense. There's nothing else that's more simplistic than what's already being ran. Yeah, like legit. Like I. I would.
Josh Rodriguez
You're talking about, like, the call should be more simplistic, but there is nothing.
Isaiah Stanback
Else that you can run that is more simplistic than what's being called and the fact that these guys are not executing it. Have to make changes.
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah. Got to make a switch. Got to make a switch. And we've got to take a break. When we come back here on talking Cowboys, we've got a couple more callers. We've got Troy on the line. We've got John on the line. It's not Troy Aikman. I wish he was calling. That'd be fun, too. But that's okay. We're going to be totally fine. We'll be back with more right after this.

Caller
Dear doctor, My friend supported me during.
Isaiah Stanback
A tough time, but what's the right gift that says thanks for being a shoulder to cry on? Okay, this one's easy. I say give her a delicious Dr. Pepper. Nothing says thanks girl better than a one of a kind soda. Yes, any Dr. Pepper flavor will do. Now, just a reminder that I don't need to be a real doctor to know that Dr. Pepper is the one you deserve.

Patrick Walker
He had forgotten. He had forgotten.
Kyle Yeomans
All right, let's get to these next couple callers. The calls have been phenomenal today.
Isaiah Stanback
Good job, callers.
Kyle Yeomans
You guys are really bringing the heat today. This one is Troy from Philly, one of our very own. Troy, an enemy behind enemy lines giving us a call. Troy, what's on your mind?
Caller
My guys, what's going on, man?
Kyle Yeomans
Good to hear from you.
Caller
Same here, man. Well, first of all, I'll be Troy Aikman if you want me to, you know.
Kyle Yeomans
Come on.
Caller
I have no problem with that.
Kyle Yeomans
I just need somebody to give us a call so that way we can bring him back in the building.
Patrick Walker
That's all it is.
Caller
I wish I could do the impersonation. I would do it for you. You guys are all over it, man. I'm totally where you are because I believe that this team. There's definitely some problems on the field, but I think most of this team's problem is off the field on the sideline because I'm seeing the same old coaching stuff. We're gonna do it our way. And my guys and. And I thought all that Was supposed to be different because that defense is not working. I want to see just like you guys were saying. I need to see 30, I need to see 35. You know, I use the numbers. I don't call.
Patrick Walker
No, we're with you, you know?
Caller
Yeah, I need to see 50. Like, where is this guy? Like, you got dynamic players sitting on your bench like that. You're not playing. Where is the word he's got? But, and it can't be that they're not getting it because the guys on the field ain't getting it. So what I mean, it can't be like, I, I need to see more of the guys that's not on the field. And if I see 57 on the field one more time, I'll be calling you guys next week from Best Buy because I'm going to need another tv. Like, I, I'm sick of him. I really am. I get that he may be trying and all that. I get it. But I, I, I can't do him anymore. I, I can't. If I, I want to just switch over to the office for a minute because I, it's the exasperation. What was it? 19 plays, 76 yards, 10 minutes, and they ran the ball 11 straight times. I'm screaming at my TV even before they drive scene. Once 88 goes down, we need to be running the ball more. You're getting seven to pop every single time. This guy, you now have a running game of a running back. Run the ball. He needed to have 30 carries last week. 30 carries and you get the other guy. I really don't care much for 24, but you get, you get the other guy. Seven or eight. Like, that's where we needed to be on offense. And then one last thing. We don't have a 1A and a 1B in terms of receiver. We got 1 and a 2. Because if we had a 1 and a 1A and 1B, 1B will be able to do what 1A does once, once 88 went out. To me, it looked like San Francisco playoff game a few years ago. That's what it looked like to me. We're right back to that same thing where we, There is nobody we can get the ball to bring. Run the ball, get that safety in the box, and then you can do what you want to do behind that. I'm not getting it. Thanks, guys.
Kyle Yeomans
Lots to unpack there. Really good call. Overall, Troy, I think you did a great job, and I agree with you on the last side of it. If Pickens is going to have to show that he's a one this week.
Josh Rodriguez
I I would argue that you do have a 1A and 1B. I think the talent is there for George Pickens. I think he hasn't been running routes very well. He hasn't been great in run blocking but he the talent is there obviously. But I think you're back to the issue of last year where you do have a one, a solidified one and then you have a three and a four and a five. You see what I'm saying? There is no second option there. You have Kevonte Turpin who I think you can see well, who's played well. He's great and he's very talented obviously. But I think defenses can kind of scheme him out of the play. I just don't think you have a reliable enough to I'm just going to.
Patrick Walker
Go ahead and say it again. I'm gonna say it Ryan Flournoy. I need to see more of Ryan Flournoy. I need to see it. I mean when you look at and this is why I posed the question to Shoddy yesterday, more opportunity or more from his opportunity? Because when given the opportunity Ryan Flournoy has done his job and then some he's giving you the plus on top of the doing the basic of doing his job right. So even in Chicago obviously the game starts getting out of hand and Chicago starts pulling away. Now we start start to see in that time frame Ryan Floynois get targeted and then what did he do his job and then got you some yak after that. Good quality catches going up high, pointing the catches. He's physical, he has to speed his route running is is vastly improved over last season which wasn't poor but that means it's that much better this season. So for for the question of you know what's the answer? In the absence of CD Lamb, I asked Shoddy about Jonathan Mangle as well and he did say Jonathan Mingle is man a pro is nearing the finish line. So his 21 day practice window key to note can be activated as early as next week if the Cowboys choose to do so. So Jonathan Mingle might be on the way back. But as far as this week, effective this week, there's no reason in my mind that Ryan Floy shouldn't be given some some a good amount of targets opposite George Pickett.
Josh Rodriguez
Totally agree.
Kyle Yeomans
The moment that Patrick just mentioned Ryan Flournoy and Jonathan Mingo, Isaiah just let out the biggest yawn and I couldn't agree more. I just don't think those guys are very good right now. I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
Josh Rodriguez
I didn't change your mind at all.
Kyle Yeomans
Not even a little bit?
Josh Rodriguez
Really?
Kyle Yeomans
No, I, until I see it in the regular season and Ryan Flournoy has made a couple plays, I'll give him very much so credit and look great.
Patrick Walker
Show me season also.
Kyle Yeomans
Show me more.
Josh Rodriguez
Are they giving you more than Jalen Tolbert right now?
Kyle Yeomans
Yeah, Jayla, I've been very disappointed in Jalen Tolbert and I've been very active in saying yeah, I've been disappointed.
Isaiah Stanback
Jalen Tolbert's route running is fine. It's good.
Josh Rodriguez
Probably the best you have right now.
Isaiah Stanback
Probably the best you have right now.
Josh Rodriguez
So what is he doing?
Kyle Yeomans
But he doesn't do anything else. I, I, he doesn't block. He doesn't give a ton of effort.
Isaiah Stanback
There's, you can say that about there.
Josh Rodriguez
Are things when he has the ball in his hand, where's he going?
Isaiah Stanback
You can say that about others. I agree that are paid more than.
Josh Rodriguez
Him and we've said it on this show.
Isaiah Stanback
I didn't say it makes it okay. I'm not on the the Thrash Jalen Tolbert train right now because, because, because Jalen Tolbert. Jalen Tolbert is your best route runner right now that you have available.
Caller
Now.
Patrick Walker
Wait, I'd argue.
Isaiah Stanback
Oh, yes.
Patrick Walker
I just want to argue it might be Kevante.
Josh Rodriguez
Is that good? Is that a good thing that Jalen Tolbert is your best route runner right now?
Isaiah Stanback
No, it's not your best right? No, it's not. It's not what you want. It's not what you want. But I mean, it's the, it's a reality, you know, I mean, that's what you have at your, that's what you have right now.
Patrick Walker
Going to give you routes. He's going to give you physicality in, in his possessions. He's also going to give you a ton. I almost curse a ton of effort in his blocking in the run game. That's what you're going to get from Jalen Tolbert in addition to his value on special teams. Again, there's no reason we should not see more Ryan Floy. Yeah.
Kyle Yeomans
Going forward, John from Alaska is our fifth and final caller today. John, thanks for waking up early and starting your day with us. What's going on?
Caller
Good morning. Good morning. It is early. I need some black.
Josh Rodriguez
Yeah, buddy.
Caller
Hey, y' all took most of my points. I was going to talk about ask if Flournoy was going to get more, more Reps because Lamb is out. But I agree with you. I'd like to see more Bell, Thomas and Carson on defense. The one thing that I haven't heard mentioned is from the, from the, the information that we have at the moment for the three games, a birthless is his defense. His style is kind of reminding me of a previous defensive coordinator we had.
Patrick Walker
Don't say Mike Poland. Oh, he said it.
Kyle Yeomans
There are a lot of people making that comparison. Mike Nolan. Mike Nolan, D.C. nolan, 2020.
Josh Rodriguez
It's kind of an inception of way.
Kyle Yeomans
There's also a first year with a new head coach and a lot of similarities there.
Caller
Yeah, but. Well, Nolan, if I remember correctly, his. His issue was that he was trying to fit players into his scheme. And I'm just wondering from, from your perspective, is Berthless trying to do the same thing or is it something else?
Kyle Yeomans
I appreciate the call, John. Great question, Isaiah. Based on what you're seeing, is it. Is it there again, is it. Is it back to that point.
Isaiah Stanback
No, I don't. I don't have a problem with Eberfluss's system.
Kyle Yeomans
I don't think I do either.
Isaiah Stanback
I don't.
Josh Rodriguez
It's not the mic.
Kyle Yeomans
Nolan was super complex.
Isaiah Stanback
Yeah, I really don't.
Kyle Yeomans
A lot of complexity.
Isaiah Stanback
Listen, there's a lot of. If you go back, I don't know how many people. How in depth people get, but if you go and watch the film and you understand defensive concepts and responsibilities based upon coverages and based upon the defensive line assignments and how the linebackers are supposed to play off of that and everything that coincides that to make a good, good, good defense, you. I can see the framework of what it's supposed to be. I genuinely can see the framework. And then you can see individuals who are doing their assignments, but then you. On those same plays that you can circle individuals that are doing what's asked of them, you also can circle individuals who are not doing what is asked of them. And if one person fails to do their job on a defense in a scheme, it exposes everybody. So I don't have a problem with Eber Flu's system. And I, I really, really would advise people to go watch the film and really kind of pull the E brake back a little bit on their criticism of Eber Flutes at this time, even though it's easy to do. So this is his unit if changes aren't made this week.
Patrick Walker
Right.
Isaiah Stanback
Which are Eber Flutes and Shoddy. Right. And this is a big moment for them in terms of culture and really in terms of the culture that they've been preaching, then I would say that the scrutiny is warranted. Right. But in terms of scheme, this guys just aren't doing what's asked of them. Literally on the touchdown, we talked about it already, the touchdown with the seams, two people didn't do their job. Donovan Wilson didn't get a jam on the same route, and Malik Hooker was over there on the opposite hash. I don't know what he was doing playing hooky on the opposite side. Those are two guys that fail to do their job and exposes everybody. When you go back to the touchdown, when they were playing match zone and who scored back there? DJ Moore.
Kyle Yeomans
DJ Moore.
Isaiah Stanback
Everybody did their job. Malik Hooker did not do his job. Right. So literally everybody else was doing what's asked of them. One person did not. So guess what? Everybody looks bad. So I'm saying, like, understand this, that you can have everybody doing what they're supposed to do. And if one or two guys decides to go rogue, everybody looks bad. And who they're gonna point the finger at. Eber flu isn't doing his job. That's wrong. That's what's wrong. It's just these guys aren't being. Aren't doing what's asked them. Therefore, if the changes aren't made in the personnel, then go ahead and shoot the messenger.
Patrick Walker
That. That's. That's the crux of my issue with Eber flutes right now. It's not the system. The players are not executing well enough. And that include. It starts from the pass rush, the lack of pass rush, the lack of the ability.
Isaiah Stanback
It doesn't help.
Patrick Walker
It doesn't help. But then what that does is expose even more so the miscommunications on the back end, because there's time for those miscommunications to be exploited, because the password is not getting there. So one thing makes the other thing worse. Now, that is not on either flutes. That. That is not schematic for me. For me, it's the decision to Sanborn over Marist, someone over Houston. However you want to spin it, this is a critical juncture right now, and this is why I'm completely with Isaiah. This is a critical juncture. We hear what you're saying, what you're saying. Shoddy and Eber flutes show us that the entitlement is not present. Yeah, we know Sanborn was with you in Chicago, and he is familiar with the scheme. Cool. He's struggling through these first three games. And you have an athletic guy, and you.
Josh Rodriguez
You going, he's Struggling in a defense he knows.
Kyle Yeomans
Yep.
Patrick Walker
To my point. And you have an athlete, Malik Hooker.
Isaiah Stanback
But, but it's, but it's important.
Patrick Walker
The decisions on personnel and that, that's. To this point, that's my. That' issue. And it's fixable.
Isaiah Stanback
And we have to get out of here. We have to go. But if you don't make the changes, trust me, and I know, I know from being in locker rooms, I know from hearing people walking around here, there's already fractures. There's already fractures in the locker room that freaking gorilla glue can't fix. If you don't make these changes this.
Patrick Walker
Week, no flex seal.
Isaiah Stanback
Because if you don't make these changes, guys already have it in their head, it doesn't matter what I do, that guy still going to get the first opportunity. That's already being said, right? That's already being said.
Kyle Yeomans
And that could be real dangerous.
Isaiah Stanback
And if you don't make the changes and give these guys the opportunity based upon the preachings of your teachings, you will lose the entire club. And if you don't believe me, go look at last week when people are getting sacked. Go look at last week when guys are making plays and see whether or not those guys are being picked up or if they're being celebrated.
Kyle Yeomans

This Talking Cowboys episode centers on the Dallas Cowboys’ rocky start to the season and the palpable anxiety among fans and hosts alike—or, as titled, "Is the Sky Falling?" The crew tackles injury updates, major personnel issues, and struggles on both sides of the ball. A lively call-in segment features fans voicing frustrations and sparking debate on where the real problems lie: on the field, on the sideline, or higher up. Throughout, the tone is a blend of exasperation, earnest football analysis, and fan-driven energy.
CeeDee Lamb out with a high ankle sprain, timeline uncertain but won’t play this week (06:45).
Tyler Booker (starting guard) out 4-6 weeks with high ankle sprain (10:38, 11:21). Offensive line stretched thin with backups.
“Are we going to talk about the Packers tomorrow?”
“I’m not the one that has to put the helmet on. ...Mind you, I get more than a midnight.”
– Patrick Walker reflecting on lingering frustration after tough losses (02:11)
“There are individuals whose play through these first three games doesn’t show that they should still be receiving the opportunities that they’re receiving. ...And I believe that if what you said in training camp was true...that doesn’t seem to be the case now that the games are present.”
– Isaiah Stanback on the need for merit-based personnel changes (29:18)
Questions the staff’s "my guys" mentality and lack of adaptability/coaching accountability.
Wants to see "dynamic players" like #30, #35, and #50 on the field, tired of underperforming regulars like #57.
Complains about offensive play-calling: not running enough after Lamb went down, lack of a true 1A/1B receiver combo.
Draws parallels between current DC Eberflus and former DC Mike Nolan—Is the scheme a poor fit, or are players just not executing?
Isaiah: The system/framework is solid, but individual breakdowns (often just 1-2 guys per play) sink the whole unit.
Patrick: Personnel decisions are the bigger issue (Sanborn over Liufau/Houston, etc.), not the scheme itself.
This episode is a cathartic, at times comedic, but ultimately hard-hitting look at the Cowboys’ mounting struggles and the sense of urgency among fans and analysts. The cast voices honest criticism over stale personnel decisions, pleads for an injection of youthful energy, and challenges the franchise to align action with their words on competition and accountability.
While there are glimmers of hope (Clowney and Bland return, hard questions being asked on staff), the overall tone is clear: major changes are necessary, both in lineup and in locker room culture, if this team is to turn the season around.
Most Memorable Quote:
