We do. We got the first. The first official transaction from the Dallas Cowboys in weeks.

But it likely won't move the needle for you any more than it moved it for me. We all know that Charles Snowden, the outside linebacker defensive end, was suspended by the NFL for three games to begin this season because of a DUI incident that occurred during his time with the the Las Vegas Raiders. That being said, he is no longer on the roster. He was waved yesterday on the Cowboys day off. How you get fired on your day off?

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Okay.

[Josh Rodriguez]

That's crazy, man. One west, one less whistleblower practice.

[Patrick No See Walker]

That's tough, man. He waved injured. So he was waved with an injury and he was replaced. His roster spot was replaced with offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez, a 28 year old journeyman. He's an NFL journeyman. He's played on a multitude of teams. He's still looking to find a home in the NFL. And the Cowboys are experimenting with depth on that offensive line position. So they're hoping Gutierrez can show something. But this is his shot, this is his tryout.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Some flex there because he's played offensive tackle and signed him as a guard. So definitely looking for just more depth in that position.

[Patrick No See Walker]

Most recently with the Patriots entered the league via the Denver Broncos. And like I said, he's played with a lot of different teams. So he does have the experience of understanding how to pick up a playbook fairly quickly. We'll see if he can do that out here in Oxnard and give the Cowboys some depth at ol. But yes, Charles Snowden has been waved, injured and Sebastian Gutierrez is in, in that spot. Still giving the Cowboys that 91 man roster because they have the roster exemption for the IPP player as well.

Hey, why not? Well, actually, you know, let's go, let's go back to week one because I do want to make sure we touch on the players that kind of made flashes stood out week one of training camp. And again, no padded practices just yet. But who was kind of your star players? See what I did there?

[Josh Rodriguez]

Well, the star. A star amongst stars. I mean, because we're, we're not gonna do the low hanging fruit. We're not gonna do Dak or George or cd. I mean obviously these guys, you know, and you've come to expect them to have a certain elite and that they're, they're playing out of their minds. Of course. But like one of the questions that was posed before we started was player, who sold you through week one? I. I mean Kobe Durant.

[Patrick No See Walker]

Okay, okay.

[Josh Rodriguez]

I, I think that was a player that I, and obviously like not the most popular player being number two and with the, the Caleb Downs, he doesn't have a lot of, a lot of favor in his court. But I will say as the, as CB2, you've seen him to do some really good things out here. And obviously with Revel sort of nipping at the Bud to get that spot. I mean, it doesn't seem like Kobe Durant's coming off of that.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

That's fair.

What you got, Pat? I'm gonna go with Rashawn Gary.

You know, for, for whatever reason.

Great brown minds. So for whatever reason, Rashawn Gary has, has seen a surge of smoke, for lack of a better way to put it, from outside of the organization. And it's not every Cowboys fan, so I'm not going to assign it to every Cowboys fan, but there is a, a very vocal faction of Cowboys fans over the past several weeks that really have kind of hammered down on their belief that Rashawn Gary is, quote unquote washed and that he won't, you know, do much of anything to move the needle for the Cowboys. I disagree with that. Even before those takes came out, Josh and I, we sat here on Talking Cowboys and we said we love the, the Rashan Gary edition. We would like a plus one with that. And I believe that's still true for Josh as it is for me. But I also believe Rashawn Gary is going to be resurgent under Christian Parker. We're seeing that as early has the first three practices out here in Oxnard. Who had the first force fumble for the Cowboys defense?

It was Rashan Gary. Also saw Rashan Gary had at least two or three would be sacks, but you're not allowed to touch the red jersey. Also saw him hunting the ball downfield a couple of plays last week. It was 10, 15 yards downfield. There was Rashan Gary. Not only was he still engaged in the play 10, 15 yards downfield as a pass rusher, but there he was punching at the ball, trying to get it free. So for me, there are a lot of standout. Like Josh said, there's the low hanging fruit, which really is the high hanging fruit when you talk about Dak, gp, CD Lamb, some of these other guys, Javonte Williams. But I'm really going to go ahead and circle Rashan Gary for those that for whatever reason think that he won't be productive. I'm already seeing it. All he has to do is continue what he's did in week one of practice.

Are we all going defense? Dang.

You can mix it up.

That part, that part. I think I'm going to go. Jayson Barham. I know we're going to talk about him later in the show. But I want to make sure we highlight him because that linebacker position has been the biggest question for what, the last two years since I've even been here?

And you've seen what he brings at the outside linebacker, the versatility. He's able to rush the passer, obviously, from the outside, come in and play inside linebacker. He's always there wherever he needs, whether it's filling in gaps, whether it's dropping back in coverage. Didn't he have like a pbu?

He did have a PBU in the red zone.

Was this the first time we heard from CD this week? Like this year?

CD Lamb talked and he said a bold statement. What he said, make sure this is on. He said that the Cowboys are gonna have a third 1,000 yard receiver in this wide receiver room that is Ryan Floynoy. And I don't know about y'.

[Patrick No See Walker]

All, y'.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

All. I kind of believe it. What y' all think about that?

[Josh Rodriguez]

I'm going with the flow with this.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Okay.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Because I, I, I like those words. Those are great words to hear, but you're talking about a guy that, that took that number three job last year. He just took it. He wasn't necessarily there in the conversation for a long period of time, but at camp, it became very Very clear that Ryan Flournoy was that dude. He's that number three now. Seeing him now, I mean, the, the difference between, you know, the last training camp, a full season where he actually really, really made a name for himself, and then now, like there were a lot of comparisons to physically, to DEZ Bryant, like when he was drafted, like just that, the stature of him, the yards after catch ability. Now you see more of the size on him too. Like I definitely hit the weight room. But it's not only that, it's his chemistry with Dak Prescott and them working together in the off season, like that is something that Dak thrives on. Like, that's why Jalen Tolbert had such an extensive career here in Dallas, because of that relationship that he built with Dak Prescott. Now Ryan Floy is in that spot because CD is going off to Europe. You know what I mean? George Pickens is doing his thing, so it's like he has to have a guy there that he trusts. And right now that is Ryan Floy and he's going to get those extra reps. And as more teams and more defenses decide to look at the tape and Tommy Yarsh had a great point about this. It's like you have a whole year of tape on Brian Schottenheimer's offense and now teams are going to be able to scheme better for the. The duo of Pickens and Lamb. That to me just says Ryan Flournoy is going to have even more bites at the apple this year. Like he's going to have even more targets, even more opportunities to get to 1,000 yards. I don't think that's even a question for me right now. I think 1,000 is, is very, very doable.

[Patrick No See Walker]

I like those words. Listen, everybody who follows me knows, you know good and damn well that I'm going with Flo Rider.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Did you, did you like him? Like from the start?

[Patrick No See Walker]

Yeah, from the start. You've been a day one made the pick. I've been day one for Ryan Flournoy. And much like flow, right. I said he was going to spin your head right round. Right round, please. Okay. But he needed, had to do it. But he needed the opportunity. He needed the opportunity. And when he came into the league, the Cowboys were still trying to figure out the WR3 position between Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks and some of those other guys. How were they going to utilize Kevonte Turpin in the offense? And a lot of that ended up being kind of a log jam to Ryan Floy's first year. I mean, remember? And it's funny because we're sitting here talking about the likelihood of Ryan Floy having a breakout season to the point where he becomes a third thousand yard receiver. The Cowboys waved him.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Yes.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Let's talk about it.

Go back in the archives. Because it was on Cowboys Hour last year that Nicole sat down with Ryan Flournoy and talked through this exact thing and what. What that mentally did to him. Nicol.

Yeah. No, I mean, he was waived. I believe it was the day before the season. I have to remember that day before the season. I'm sorry. So he was told he made the roster, and then it was literally the next day he got cut. Okay. And it was right before, I believe him and his wife were going on a trip to kind of celebrate, you know, their wedding and everything like that. Shout out to him for, you know, obviously being great to his wife. But you talk about a kid who. Why do I keep saying kid? They're grown men. Grow, man.

Young man who has been through so much. He had that conversation with Shoddy, and Shoddy was like, listen, man, like, we're gonna do everything we can to bring you back. They brought him back. And since then he was like, it's just about opportunity for me.

Also lucked up because any of the other 31 teams could have put in a way.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Absolutely.

[Patrick No See Walker]

We are not having this.

A guy that's been overlooked basically, since, like high school football.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Yeah.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Like, genuinely.

[Patrick No See Walker]

But he's always been a freakish athlete. And we, we tend to throw that phrase around, that label around. But it absolutely applies to Ryan Fenoy. And I love the fact one of the first conversations I had with him after he got drafted, I asked who his. Who he idolized coming up, and he said, Jerry Rice. He's. He's managing his game to mold it. After Jerry Rice, he finally gets his opportunity. Jalen Brooks gets waved. Jaylen Tobert doesn't pan out, becomes inactive, and now it becomes Ryan Floy's opportunity, especially when CD Lamb went down. So he had to kind of step that WR2 role. All he goes out there and does against the Panthers is show out. The jets to show out. And you're looking at this guy and you're saying, okay, for me. For me. Patrick. No, see, Walker speaking. It was very affirming and validating to see that he can translate that freakish athleticism onto the field and make plays digging into his playbook. He's improving his route running. You see his athleticism and he's very physical. I've said this before, I will say it again. His physicality, his. The way he attacks the ball at the point of catch is violent and reminiscent. I'm not saying he's DEZ Bryant. I'm saying that that physicality is very similar to DEZ Bryant and peak Michael Gallup. Only he's more athletic than Michael Gallup was.

[Patrick No See Walker]

Stronger too. So yes, I absolutely believe that the Cowboys have the potential for three 1000 yard receivers with Ryan Flournoy taking that next step. My question then becomes not necessarily for us to answer right now. My question becomes if you have three 1,000 yard receivers, does that dampen the possibility of having that? And a thousand yard rusher. Javante Williams has to get the ball. The offense has to run through him. We all know Dak Prescott excels at what play action. Play action only works if what you can run the ball and we know Javonte Williams can do that. So careful, don't shoot four 3, 1000 yard receivers just to say that you can do it. Be smart about it. And I believe shotty will balance.

Yeah, I think balance. I think shotty did a good job of the play calling in terms of making sure guys were equally distributing the football last year. So I want to make sure that we do mention that. But kind of going back to your point about Ryan Flournoy. He's always been counted out, like since he was a kid he was told

that he was undersized.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Undersized. He was never going to make it to the NFL. Made it to the NFL last year. He was the fourth leading receiver in receiving yards on the team. And that was with not that many snaps.

[Patrick No See Walker]

We're being honest.

Just maximizing opportunity.

And especially with CD out for a good portion. Like he stepped up in that role. Absolutely. And God forbid you have one of these guys go out, anybody in the wide receiver room go out for any extended period of time. I feel like his confidence level is there to be the X or the. Yeah. And step in immediately.

We saw it.

And last year, even to the point where Schottenheimer's on the podium saying like, you know, as far as special teams go, it's like, I don't know, he's pretty. I don't know, he's pretty good. Let's maybe, let's not do that.

And it also goes back to the physicality at the catch point. It's not just that. It's the willingness to help block down feel.

Oh absolutely.

It's the now growth in I talked to him in the field doing something cool. Check it out on Dallas Cowboys.com It'll be edited today, but it's, it's with my meta glasses and just kind of seeing how either receivers DBs or I'll say receivers for example, is just how they beat a DB off the line of scrimmage. And he said that he's really kind of grown by studying a Ceedee Lamb by studying a George Pickens this offseason and how he's able to beat a guy off the line kind of understanding leverage a little bit more. And you've seen that over the first what, week or so in practice we'll see how much it pays off over what the first week of.

[Patrick No See Walker]

Pat, just put it this way for perspective. Number one, this is a player that was waived going into his rookie year. This is a player that didn't start 16, 17, 15 games last year, still ended up being having the fourth most receiving yards on the team. We're talking about him having a breakout with technically less than a full year of starts under his belt. That tells you how special Ryan Floy can be. That also tells you how dedicated he is to the craft, to advancing in the craft. And his work ethic is one of the best on the team. So I cannot wait to see this young man get out there and cook. Obviously, you know, CDs going to get his and George is going to get his and Jake Ferguson and Javante Williams. But we've now seen and we can state confidently, we will continue to see that when the ball is in Ryan Floy's hands or when he's the target, you'll probably see a big play come off of that.

Yeah, that's another one. Like I think there are just a few names that that could possibly be that four. I mean like Terp, I mean he's been there. He's. I think we know that the longevity is there.

No, but you know what he is,

you know what he is the only other names, I mean Jonathan Mingo has to really, really step up this, this off season. I mean, you traded for fourth Round pick, fourth round pick. There's a lot of. And there's just a lot of spotlight that comes along with that pick, you know what I'm saying? An emphasis on making sure that he gets to where he needs to be, like in this camp. And as far as the other names, Treshawn Holden, like, he still makes good plays, he's very athletic. I just don't know if that necessarily translates because how many times have we heard training camp podcast talking about a receiver that's, oh my gosh, look at this catch that he made. You know, like it happens so often that these guys have sort of. It's. They're developmental guys that you expect to produce in the season and it ends up not happening. These guys kind of fall by the wayside whenever camp is done. I really hope that's not the case with Treshawn Holden because I like what I'm seeing from him. But also Anthony Smith, I mean a guy that you draft, that you drafted, that is making plays as well, that is just as athletic and really, really fast.

The fact that you bring up Anthony Smith, and this is something that I've been saying about that young undrafted rookie since late April, early May, when they made the decision to make him a high priority or strafe pick. My fault.

So late round pick, correction. So when they grabbed him, you go back and you look at this kid, young man. You go back and you look at this young man's ECU film. He's. He just gets it done. He's a speedster. Are there things that he needs to refine? Absolutely. Some of his routes, things like that. But he's instantly, as we have this conversation, he's one of the fastest players on your team, period. I don't see how you risk him to waivers as long as he continues to have at least a solid count. That being said, the other side of that coin is the fact we're Talking about a seventh round pick in this conversation of potential WR4, WR5 tells you how shaky the ground is.

From WR4 backwards, you also don't know are the Cowboys carrying five or are they carrying six? Are they going to be forced to carry six to keep Anthony Smith, Marquez, Valdez, scantling, He's the veteran in the room outside of the George and CD. As far as WR4 backward has the most experience. However, which version of MVS are you going to get? Are you going to get the Green Bay packers version? Are you going to get the version last couple seasons that seem to be in the dusk of his career and

more often than not someone that into the twilight of his career, I mean you just expect probably, yeah, the latter.

And then Jonathan Mango, he has the ability to get it done. But we had this conversation this time last year year out here in Oxnard saying that Mingo needed to have a great camp. He actually did have a really good camp.

It did not translate onto the field. So now we're having that conversation again. Tren Holden, you don't know what you're going to get from him. And some of these other names. Denzel Mims. Yes. You know, former top pick of the New York Jets. He's here. Keep an eye out for him. However, question mark, Camden Brown. Question mark, Jaden Smith. You don't know who that is. No knock to that guy. But you don't as a Cowboys fan. You don't know who he or Camden Brown might be. Point being here is you have arguably the best wide receiver duo and trio in the league. The problem is once you get beyond that, you don't know. You have no clue what you have. But that to put it in Nicole's quote, that's why we're at training. That's why we're at training.

I love it. All right. This linebacker room, y' all right on. Let's talk about it because there's been four that have obviously stood out well to me. I'll speak on my behalf. It's a Jayshawn Barham. It is D winners. It is demarvian overshone. And it is Shamar James. I want to first touch on demarvion overshone. What's kind of been the most encouraging about him? Obviously this is agent zero. We know what he is. But what's been the most encouraging thing about him now that he is entering this year as completely healthy, I mean, it's.

[Josh Rodriguez]

It's no surprise that his confidence isn't all at an all time high. But I would say the, the most encouraging would be his speed and conditioning. He looks great, he's moving great. Like, I don't think there's any limitations on him as far as I'm concerned. That may be different as far as like the training staff, maybe they feel like, you know, snap counts or anything like that. I don't know if that's necessarily part of his regimen right now, but it doesn't appear that way. It's. He's in every snap basically on the first team. So I'm feeling very confident in that respect. Yeah, I'll stick there because I think we need to talk about it a little more.

You know, I would argue that while I do agree that demarvion Overshone's confidence is as high as it's ever been, I would argue that it's never been below where it is right now.

[Josh Rodriguez]

Yeah, that's right.

Even when he went through his two devastating knee injuries, he's always maintained confidence rooted in his faith. He's, he's never wavered. And all of it just being a test so that he could get the testimony after the fact. So he's hoping that this year and he believes that this year can be that testimony. And I firmly believe that as long as the Mavian over shown stays healthy and is available for the multitude, if not the entirety of the season. This is a Pro bowl linebacker in 2026. I don't see a reason why he would not be. The Cowboys are testing him at the mic. They're testing him at the green Dodd. Brian Schottenheimer was on the podium just the other day unprovoked, mentioned the situation wherein Christian Parker pretended that his walkie had gone out. It was pre planned by Shotty and Christian Parker, although Demo did not know about it. The test was for Demo to see if he could call the right play and he called the perfect play for the situation. So again, for me, as long as demarvion over shown stays healthy, I believe that he can be the leader of the linebacker corps. I believe he can be a Pro bowl linebacker as early as this year. But again, and I'll say it a million more times, he just needs to stay on the field. And it's not even that he's injury prone. I want to do away with that narrative. I try to do away with it on, on Twitter. I want to be clear. I think people like to throw the label injury prone on anyone who suffered multiple injuries in a short period of time. But I think you need to look at it contextually when you look at his injuries. He's bad. Wrong place, wrong time.

Yep.

I mean, his knee got blown out because Mozzie Smith got rolled on to his knee. That has nothing to do with being injury prone. That's just bad luck, bad spot. So again, he's flying all over the field, like Josh said. And like you saying out there, Nicole, he's playing sideline to sideline. He's controlling the. The defense when it's his turn to be tested at. At the green dot. He's at the mic right now. I said demarvion over shown. Stay on the field and you're going to see something special from that young man.

I think it's the beauty of what they have right now is three guys who can play the mic. And we knew this coming in this offseason. They were going to be rotating guys. I think he should be experimenting with rushing the pastor. I. I really do. In blitz situations. Absolutely. As far as I'm concerned, in week one and this is, you know, non padded. So I think a lot of questions will be answered this week. I'm a little concerned about his. About how he's going to do in the run game because so far you've seen him in run situations get kind of washed out in the middle. Tyler Guyton washed him out pretty good last last week. I mean, it feels a little, I don't want to say the word undersized, but I just don't know that he necessarily has that physicality to stay in place and, and affect the play in that way. You want him sideline, sideline, you want him moving at like, at a heat seeking missile, which is what he is, you know what I'm saying? So I'm a little concerned in that respect. But definitely experiment with him rushing the passer experiment with him moving his legs at all. Just get him moving, get him on a. On a war path basically is what

I'm looking forward to see normally Josh and I agree going to disagree with Josh on this.

When it comes to the Marvio and Overshone, keep in mind this is a former safety at Texas who was converted to linebacker. Also at Texas became a star linebacker. I say, I bring up that point to say he is an excellent cover linebacker. Okay. That's why he can play sideline to sideline so effectively. We've also seen that he is effective because of his speed, his length, his glide to be able to affect the passer from the linebacker position in blitz packages. I am 100% with every once in a while sending demo at the opposing quarterback in a blitz package. But if the question is posed to me am I willing to utilize demarvion over shown as an outside linebacker or an edge rusher, the answer is no. The answer is no. For one reason and one reason specifically. He doesn't have the the mass to time and again through over the course of a game take on NFL left tackles. We just sat here and justifiably said that the Marvi Nova show needs to remain healthy. You don't say that and in the same breath expose him to multiple reps against opposing left tackles. Right? Yeah. Larmy Tunsos of the world.

You just, you don't do that. I think he thrives more in space. You keep him in space and that's how you're going to get the most out of the Marvel and Overshone. So yes, Bliss packages 100%. He's an excellent cover linebacker and he's going to do all the right things he needs to do as an inside linebacker. As an outside linebacker. I think it creates a liability that's unnecessary when you have other guys that can drop down to that position like a Jason Jayson Barham, for example. If you're going to play that game, play it with Barham. Don't play it with the Marvion overshadow.

Well, speaking of Jayson Barham because they have with that was great down. Yeah. Jean Barham. They have been experimenting with him playing inside linebacker, playing outside linebacker. How comfortable has he kind of appeared processing all of that in a matter of what off the fly Josh, Pat, what you got?

[Josh Rodriguez]

Yeah, I mean the. I think this is the most alarming of this because now with the spotlight that's going to be on Jason Barum, especially after this week of padded practices, I don't think he's going to be under the radar anymore. I think a lot of people are going to basically say like, you know, as far as building defenses, that's the guy you want to build around. And I think that is way too much pressure to put on a rookie that was picked at the pick that he was at, and then to expect him to basically overturn the. The linebacker room like we talked about last week at Linebacker 3 is what we were talking about him at. So it to me is concerning in that the expectations are going to be very high once people start seeing him on the field and once people start kind of diagnosing what he is as a player, the kind of thumper that he is. However, if he's able to meet all those expectations and more, that's going to be great. That's going to be nothing but great. But it is the narrative that is going to build in the legacy of Jayshawn Barham that's going to say like, oh, well, this guy isn't what they talked him up to be a training camp, you know what I mean? So it's a slippery slope there. I don't want to necessarily put that on him, but I mean, so far it's been astounding. Really, truly.

And that's almost like you have to leave it there. So far so good.

Yeah. Now I ideally like to leave it there. Now stop. However, chill out. We have to analyze and project.

And. And that's part of the science. And I'm just going to tell you, when it comes to a guy being a, you know, first, second or third round pick, the pressure comes with that. I am of the mindset where whether it's fair or not, the pressure is there and you're going to have to deal.

Okay. And that's something that Jayshawn Barham is reacting to positively. You know, it looks as if he came into rookie minicamp, OTAs, mandatory minicamp and training camp. Most certainly he's ready to. And it looks like he's incrementally getting better and better with every rep, with every day of practice. And I cannot wait to see his big angry. Please a crooked letter hitting guys out there because you could just tell that he woke up this morning and that's what he wants to do. Like Josh said last week, he's everything he does, he's angry, you know what I mean? Just pissed off at some.

Getting orange juice earlier. Yeah.

Just fruit loops, you know what I mean? So I think Jayshawn Barham, I think that he will be a an impact guy for the Cowboys. I'm going to stop short right now of claiming that he'll be a starter because I do want to see more of Dee Winters they traded for him. I believe Demo is. Is definitely locked in as a starter so we'll see how Barham comes along. But I think that he has the ability to earn his reps at two positions because if you go back and look at what he was able to do for the Michigan Wolverines, he earned his reps at two positions, inside linebacker and outside linebacker. So he's right now working at inside linebacker. He's getting Mike work as well. Talk about that. PBU for example. But he's also going to start getting reps on the outside to be able to rush. And unlike Demo, he has Jayshon has the mass to take on yes left tackles. This dude is a prototype. He was built in a lab somewhere and the Cowboys will definitely enjoy his services at a point position that going into this offseason was of critical need

by a mad scientist, if you will. Science how mad he is all the time.

Mad scientist science. J Sean, I like what this.

That was great. This is going. You talk about what he did in Michigan. 10 tackles for loss. Titus career best in for sacks. J. Sean is impressive. I think like Shoddy has mentioned with the Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence. It's not just the traits of what he's able to bring, the versatility. It's the fact that he can learn something, take it in and apply what he's learning. And it's the same day every single day. And so obviously with you know we've talked about this so many times. So many guys come in here and they've had to develop them which is great. The Cowboys have done a great job of doing that. But you feel like he is ready to someone make an impact now. Is he starting? I'm not gonna say all that.

[Patrick No See Walker]

Yeah.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

But I think that he can be a nice rotational piece in the inside linebacker and outside linebacker core which is what you need to be in this Christian Parker defense.

[Josh Rodriguez]

But. And I totally agree with you but I feel like that's not going to hold on very long because he's going to exceed those expectations. That's what you want like genuinely like today once the pads are on, like. Like I'll be doing pusha t ad libs out there.

Y' all are sick. All right, y', all, we got padded practices, the first one of Cowboys camp. What are y' all looking for, Pat, what you got?

[Patrick No See Walker]

I'm looking for this, this physicality that we've seen in non padded practices to ratchet up in a fantastic fashion. Now, of course, the goal now with padded practices being here is I'm looking for everyone to remain healthy. You got to balance the physicality with the chippiness, but not going over that line. I don't want to see any. Any, you know, fish thrown. I don't want to see any guys getting into, you know, these kind of violent scrums, but I do want to see the physicality turned all the way up as far as it can be. I want to see guys leave practice healthy and inside of that, I want to see guys like Jayshawn Barham step up. I want to see more of Caleb Downs now that he can run around and run free. I spoke with Caleb Downs, I think it was after the second practice out here in Oxnard, and I asked, you know, how things coming through those first two practices. And he basically told me that the real fun starts when the pads come on, well, they come on today. So 11th overall pick. A lot of eyes are on you. Go out there and have some fun.

Physicality without fights. I think that's a perfect way to put it. I want to see the tension out there. I also want to see a bit of a chess match with Christian Parker and Brian Schottenheimer and Clayton Adams. To be fair, I feel like Dak is going to really need to earn it out here and. And he has before. He has time and time again, but obviously in the past, you know, five, six years, he hasn't been facing a defense to the same caliber that he sees each Sunday.

Going up against the Eagles, the, you know, on and on and on. So now I feel like there's going to be a bit of a chess match when you have Christian Parker understanding what his defense is. He has the full off season now to really know where his guys are and what they're best at and really throw it at Dak Prescott. Like, I'm genuinely curious how that's going to play out.

[Nicole Hutchinson]

Yeah, I think it's going to be real chippy too, I think, but we need that. Yeah, we've been hearing about, you know, CP talking hits. There we go. We've been hearing, you know, the receivers and everybody else talking crap to each other and love that. And I saw. I remember when Brevin dropped that pass. Caleb Downs, number 11 overall pick for the Cowboys, pushing him back. So. So I'm excited to see kind of the competition between these two units. Talk about which player faced the biggest test heading into the first padded practice of the day.

I'm going with Tyler Guyton.

I think Tyler Guy. And of all the guys that I could point at to answer that question, Tyler Guyton is playing one of the most important positions on the field, the blind side of Dak Prescott. And there are question marks at that position going in. That's why Brian Scheidenheimer declared an open competition in the first place between Tyler Guyton and Nate Thomas. That's why while Brian Schottenheimer is saying that Tyler Guyton is going to start at left guard, he keeps leaving the door open by saying things like, we want our best five out there. He's not shutting the door on the potentiality of Tyler Smith being moved to left tackle, even though I don't want to see that happen. But point being, Tyler Guyton needs to hit the ground running. He played or played. He had solid practices in the first three non padded. But here's where the rubber really Begins to hit the road up against guys like guess who I named earlier. Rashawn Gary, for example. Rashawn Gary wants to eat. He wants to prove himself. Donovan, Ezra. Yep. Wants to prove that Year two, he can be what he was at Boston College. He was one of the the best in pressures last year, but he always was just like, right there. He wants to get his hands on a quarterback. Now, obviously out here, he won't be able to do that, but he can show as early as today in padded practice that at full speed, he can do that. So Tyler Guyton up against these edge rushers, Sam Williams, I literally was about to prove it. Year.

I can go on and on. Right. These edge rushers are coming out here. They're out for blood. Not literally, but proverbially, proverbially speaking. So Tyler Guy in is. He's. He's up against a big test. So I'm curious and anxious to see if he can handle his business.

I think just the offensive line as a whole, because you're talking about, you know, bringing all 11 starters back from last year to this year and how they can improve upon what they did last year as the number one offense in the league. Now you're saying the one demerit I would say throughout the season at times would be the offensive line and getting that push. And granted, Javante Williams had a great season, but it's like, can we consistently run the ball when the defense knows we're going to run the ball and you're going to have scrimmages and practices coming up against other teams with the Rams and the Saints, where you can really, really test that theory. But, like, right now you're talking about how hungry the defensive line is. The offensive line needs to be. Be even more hungry because it's saying, like, we're not taking a step back, we're taking a step forward, which means we're pushing you into the ground right now and especially, especially the outside. But you need to see a step up from the center to the guards, to the tackle. I mean, like, literally across the board. You need an improvement across the board.

And once you get improvement from the offensive line, you know who I'm going with?

The running backs, aside from Javon T. Williams.

But that entire running back room I feel like will get the biggest test because not only running the football, you got to be able to what it seems like Shotti has already mentioned as well be able to be effective in the passing game. Yes, Jaden Blue. I know that PBU with I think believe it was demarvi and overshone where he kind of felt the presence a little bit and that's where Malik Hooker was able to catch that intercept tips drill. So I, I think that once we see a little bit more of that, I'm going to be looking forward for that running back to take a step as well in this first pad practice practice. But dang, this has been fun guys. I feel like time goes by so fast. Yeah, well we got the first pattern.
