Kentucky state represenatative John Hodgson (Dist 36) shared his thoughts on today's tumult within the ranks of tourism leadership. Here's the background info: the Kentucky Supreme Court ruled that Republican-led laws to reduce Governor Andy Beshear's power is unconstitutional.Today, Beshear revamped the Kentucky State Fair Board and his newly appointed members immediately fired longtime Ky Venues CEO David Beck.Beck's leadership produced generous funding thru the state legislature for massive upgrades at the Kentucky Expo Center and Ky International Convention Center. Plus, the convention and tourism numbers soared under Beck's relationships with decision makers.Some of the biggest shows on the tourism calendar: Bourbon & Beyond, Louder Than Life, the farm machinery show, teen sports competitions, faith group conventions, and so many more have expanded during Beck's tenure.Mike Berry has been named interim CEO, but admitted he's a short-termer.Will the new leader be able to maintain Beck's successes?
