Ah, that's right. Mizzou has dropped down a few notches, man, and Oklahoma just keeps moving up. Oh, John Matiere over here. I tell you what, the gun show, that was awesome. And I feel like he was. He was the story yesterday. I mean, there was, you know, a couple of hot takes from Josh Hoeple and whatnot, but I felt like at the end of the day, John Mattier was what people were talking about.

So last year, I felt like everyone was patting me on the top of my head, like, hey, man, 6 and 7. We told you. We told you. But, hey, just hang in there, buddy. It's going to be okay. It might get. You might get to eight wins at some point. And now it goes from. I mean, there's one on this show picking them to play in the SEC championship game, and I'm hearing other people saying, oklahoma's my trendy pick. Watch out. They could win this league. I knew there would be some buzz about this team coming into today. I didn't think it was going to be like it was yesterday. They were the stars of the day. John Mattier, Brent Venable. So what does that mean? LSU was the buzz last year, and they fired Brian Kelly's ass before the year was over. So I don't think it ultimately means anything, but it's definitely been. There's more respect on OU this year than there has been the previous two years. I don't think it's that close.

I feel like it's totally different. I mean, this time we're having conversations about hot seat, you know, is. Is Venables out if this doesn't work? And I feel like we're. Well, are they going to make the playoffs again? You know?

Well, I mean, and to be fair, that was the talking point last year. That was the talking points. And I hate to bring up this game in front of you guys going into November. Last year they lost Ole Miss, they got to go to Knoxville, to Tuscaloosa, play Mid Zoo and lsu, and there's conversations of if they lose all of those November games, watch out. And then they go on that magical red November run and. But yeah, I mean, there were even conversations of it going into November last year, but all of that's changed the mood around it. Everything is completely different than what it was at that time. Absolutely. Everybody feels good, so we'll see.

Did you learn anything interesting about the Sooners yesterday when they came through?

Yeah, from Taylor Wine, who he emerged after our Mason Thomas got hurt in that Tennessee game. He looked like the best player on the field. When they play Alabama, that was a really good OU defense that they had last year. And I asked him about it and he was like, man, I. I don't know. Like, it took us five games to create a turnover. And, oh, we're talking about. It's like it ain't good enough. It felt like he was talking to Brent Venables yesterday. Like, I look at that defense and say that's like one of the. That's the best defense you had in 20 years. And the way that he's looking at it, and I think everybody there, like, I mean, I don't know. It wasn't good enough for us. We got to be a lot better this year defensively. So that was kind of nice to hear. That they don't feel like they've just made it, that they're going to continue to push and maybe be an even better defense this year. And Sprint said yesterday they've got as much competitive depth offensively as they've ever had. That's got to be the case.

The program overall is in good shape right now, but it's still vastly different from the defense to the offense. The defense, their 11 starters will be old guys that they recruited. Right. The offense has kind of been a bunch of mercenaries. You got a Portal quarterback, your top three receivers are probably going to be Portal wide receivers. Your tight ends are Portal Guys, your offensive line's got some portal guys in there so they've got to get to the homegrown recruited guys like you've had on defense. They've got to figure that out offensively and it sounds like they're getting closer to that. But it's a huge year for the offense, man. It's the reason why they didn't make a deeper run in the playoff last year. And if they're going to make a deeper run this year, it's, it's on the offense.

You know, we get in conversation especially in the offseason about who's got the toughest schedule and I feel like Sooners may be leading the pack there, if not at least the top three. But did it surprise you when the over unders came out and Oklahoma was sitting at seven and a half coming off the playoffs?

I thought they'd be eight and a half. But if you look at, you know, certain sports books, they're an underdog at Michigan. I think they're going to go up there and win that game. I really do. They're like a ten point dog to Georgia. Okay, you see that? They're an underdog to Texas. I, I would hit the over on that just like I thought the over was going to hit last year at like six and a half. It's what I think it opened up as. I think that there's some real value in playing the over on OU and like Mike maybe picking him to make it to the SEC championship game, maybe win the SEC championship this year. But yeah, that did surprise. I thought it'd be a game higher at least. But it, it's brutal dude. At Michigan, at Georgia, Texas and Dallas, three of your first five. That sets up the entire season like the under. If you go03 in that stretch, the under is absolutely in play. Like you need to go, you need to win at least one and to give yourself some breathing room you may need to go two and one in that three game stretch.

Hey, so I posted because you, you were pretty open about your issue with the fact that they put a Texas banner right next to. Do you think the SEC did that on purpose?

Well of course they did because all they've done is cater to freaking Texas since they entered the league. Look at the difference in OU schedule the first two years and the crap Texas schedule Texas gets to play. Oh, they used to be rivals with Arkansas. Let's let them play Arkansas the first two years, huh? How can we play Arkansas? We don't play Arkansas to like year four in the sec. Oh, they get to play Mississippi State. They get to play Texas A and M in November. Who else would you rather play in the SEC than Texas A and M late in November with a lot on the line, that's a guaranteed win every single time. I'm telling you, they've had the layup schedule of anybody else in the sec. So yeah, doing that right there. Another sick joke by the sec. Have asked for a full refund since they did that. We'll see if they get back. But just more shenanigans from the sec. It's unbelievable, man.

You know, we love, love, love, love the Red river, but rivalry week is probably one of our favorite. It is. I don't know what I'm talking about. It is our favorite week. Not only we got Thanksgiving and family, but we got programs that absolutely hate each other. And are you upset? I mean, realistically, when you knew that you were coming over here to the SEC and you had a pick of all the teams, are you upset that Mizzou is your rivalry from here on out?

What's that word that you used? Did you use rivalry? Huh? Am I pissed? Everybody's mad about it. You know what we wanted the first year in the sec? You played in Baton Rouge on that week. Let's go, man. Like, we all thought that your three would be like Texas. Who else? We think probably freaking mid zoo, but maybe you get to play LSU that last week. That, that would be fun, right? They don't really care about Arkansas anyway. Arkansas cares about it, but LSU doesn't care about it. They rather play Oklahoma. So to have to go to Columbia, Missouri, where the sun's going to set at one o' clock that late in November, it's gonna be awful weather now. I hate it, man. I hate it now. I was talking with Ty Richardson, you guys know that covers Arkansas, and they were just like, thank you. Thank you for taking Missouri away from us. Now, granted, they can't beat them, so maybe that's a reason why they're happy about it. But they are. They're really happy. They don't have to make that trip in late November anymore. But another thing. There you go. Another thing by the sec, you know, just.

Will Oklahoma score an offensive touchdown in Texas this year?

Hey, you can't hurt me because I've already made that joke on Texas stations this year. I'd say they better, man. You know, I think people still like Ben Arbuckle. But you are judged pretty heavily in what you do in that game and getting shut out the way that they did last year. You've got to respond in a big way. I mean, look, you got to go win at Michigan. You got to go do things that Joy. You got to do a lot of things. But there are more exciting games than there's ever been for on OU schedule. That's still the most important game. That's still the biggest game. It's still your biggest rival. You've got to perform there. So when I say Ben Arbuckle's on the hot seat, I wouldn't say that, but I'd say it's a big year for him in the offense. And what happens in that game is going to determine a lot as to what we think about the direction of the OU offense. You've got to score a touchdown three of the past four years. You haven't. I mean, come on, you got to. You got to go down there and score.

And I would even take it a step further, but I want to get your opinion, because I know that's that rivalry has been streaky. I think every, every Oklahoma fan is fired up about Venables. I think he's the best defensive mind in college football, and it's shown and the program's on the rise. And I'm not saying he's on any kind of hot seat, but if he loses to Texas again, I mean, is that, is that how we get to back being on the high? I mean, he has to win that game at some point, right?

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. If you're the head coach in Oklahoma, you need to beat Texas now. Call it a, an excuse, whatever. Jamateer was clearly affected by the hand injury one year. Dylan Gabriel got knocked out the game before. There was another year where I felt like they were, oh, which I don't think it would have mattered if, you know, you had the Jackson, Arnold, Michael Hawkins situations year before, but that's on you. Like, you got to be better prepared. You've had some bad luck of quarterback in that game, but you got to be better prepared. So, yeah, if you're the head coach at Oklahoma, you got to beat Texas and you can't lose to them consistently. So it's like, again, it's the biggest game of the year. It's a massive game for Brent Venables. You cannot continue to lose to Texas and people just be okay with it. Can't happen.

Well, you know, we got Shane Beamer floating around here somewhere, and one of the talks that we always bring up is it's an even year. You know, South Carolina's due, but you know who does horrible here the last couple of even years is Brent Venables. And we go back. I mean, let's be realistic. 24. We got six, so we got a seesaw. We had 10 last year. Six, 10, six. So if they hit that six mark again, what is what happens at the end of the season? Is Arbuckle gone?

You crack the code for Oklahoma football is what you've done with this six way. Yeah, there will be. I don't know who, but someone would pay for a six and seven season.

Does that even year include a bowl loss to Navy in there as well? Hopefully not. I don't. I can't live through that. I can't do that again. Yeah, that would, that would be a massive, massive setback because here's like you've got so many returners on def. Oh, you's done a great job of retaining talent. You got Kip Lewis to come back, you won against the law and you got Owen Heinecke to come back. Right. Taylor Wine's really good. David Stone, maybe his last year, they're going to be really good defensively as long as Brent's here. But this could be the most star studded group that they've had. My point is the time feels like it's now for ou. You need to take the next step. You've got the best defense that maybe you've had in a while. A six win season would be a drastic setback and yeah, I'm sure something would happen at the end of the year.

Well, it's funny because when I put out a little thing about blue blood programs, the first team that popped up in my feed, which I was expecting, was Alabama. But the second one kind of surprised me with Oklahoma. And I don't know if that's just me because I've not followed Oklahoma until they came into the sec. But I look back at this historical run you guys have had and I'm thinking to myself, what if the playoffs are in conversation every single year? What if this is the program that we should be talking about more than the Texas Longhorns that are coming in? So how big is it that we do? I mean, you've kind of hit on this, but how big is it for the program as a whole to take, you know, just to say, hey, this is where we belong, this is what we do every year?

Yeah, I mean, I think that that season last year and winning the games that you did, especially on the road. It's. Everybody was on board with this move. But to see it like, all right, we're good, we can do this. I think was was big. There's a 12 team playoff at the Big Ten has their way. Might be a 75 team playoff here in a couple of years, but as long as it stays 12, the thoughts and the opinions of oh you fans are we should be in the playoff most years and a contender for a 12 team playoff and every single year, even in the SEC. So that's how they view themselves as a program. Ultimately. We'll see if that's the case or not. But yeah, man, like this program's had a lot of success over the years. Texas does have the head to head against ou, but, oh, you's got more national championships, more conference championships, more Heismans. Oh, he's been the better program over the years than, than Texas has. Texas just gets kind of celebrated a lot more in the off season and they certainly deserve that recently for what they've done. But Oklahoma's a big time. And I remember when Paul, you're you guys. Love you some Paul Finebaum. He went to Norman, I think early on when, oh, he was in the SEC news. Like, I mean I was just looking around and I saw the Heisman park statues and the national Championship and I'm just like, oh my God. I mean Oklahoma's had a lot like, yeah, Paul, where you been, man? I thought you knew this sports. But I see it now when you're in the bubble of the SEC. Like, I don't watch Big 12 football anymore. I'm not watching the ACC. I'm not even really watching the Big Ten. There's so many intriguing storylines just in the SEC itself and games that you almost forget that everybody else is playing the sport. Unless you tune in on a Friday night or a Thursday night.

I will add that this, this event makes me feel really good about one thing. There was an off season injury that I was really, really concerned with and have been concerned about it all off season long because the last time I saw Cousin Shane, it looked like he cut his finger on a beer can before the OU Tennessee game. So he's a little bit dinged up. But I'm glad to see he's 100% healthy and he's back at it.

Well, don't listen to Shane's negativity with this 6 loss BS. Get that, get that garbage out of here, Shane. So I got. Oklahoma's the second best team in the conference. I think they're going to Atlanta. I think they could win the national championship this year because I think they could have arguably the best defense in the conference and not the nation. Perhaps if John Mateer takes that big step forward. You know, what do you. Were you and your audience surprised that I've got Oklahoma going to the SEC championship? And are they of the like mind that Oklahoma could win it all this year?

I think as we move forward in the off season, more and more people are kind of coming to that thought, like we could do this again. Those, the three of the first five games is so daunting and you haven't had recent success against Texas, but there's a belief that no man like now is the time. Our, our offense can't be as bad as it was last year and it's going to take a step because the pieces around John Mattier are a lot better. So yeah, there's a belief on it.

Maybe a little bit. I mean, we are talking about the guy that got the 10 and 2 correctly last year. So they just come to know that he's the authority on OU football. But I mean, maybe a little bit surprised. But I think more and more it's like, we can do this, man. Can absolutely do this.

You know, speaking of Tennessee, I got to ask because it really crushed my soul to see Jason Whitten over there. But how, how is his addition to this program transformed? You know, I mean, I'm looking at the tight end transfers. I mean you. I love Rocky Beer is just the name, but you got some dudes. You got Jack coming in, you got Hayden Hansen. So what does, what does that tight end room look like now that Jason Whitten's got his hands in it?

I'll go coach and. And you're in it, but you're not really in it, right? That's not Jason Whitten, dude. From. From everything that I've understood, that wasn't Jason Whitten when he was coaching high school football. Jason Whitten puts everything he's got into this. And there's a thought in Norman that he's going to be a head coach soon. Now maybe you guys are, you know, love him so much you're going to hire him after you fire Hypo's ass in a couple of years. But I don't know if he'll get an SEC job right away necessarily. But there's a thought that. Enjoy him while you can because this is a guy that's going places. He is. He's a really good recruiter. He's intense at practice, man. He gets after it. He is everything that you guys would think Jason Witten would be as a position coach, right? I mean, that's what he is.

Any concern, though? There's a lot to like about Oklahoma's defense, but the depth maybe not as deep as, like, do you think it. They are deep. We just. Maybe we don't know a lot of these guys names yet.

That's it. That's exactly what I've been saying all offseason long you lost some guys on your too deep to the transfer portal that you. You thought, man, you enjoyed all that depth last year and you just don't have it. Maybe. Were we talking about Taylor Wine this time last year? I mean, no, I don't think we were talking about Owen Heinecke. I don't think we were talking about Cortland Guillory, who's one of the best corners in the sec. Like, I can kind of go down the list and I can pick out four or five guys. And that just speaks to the defense and how they've been able to develop guys. The offense hasn't been able to do that. They got to get to that. But the defense has. So on paper you say, I like what they're frontline guys, but where's the depth? I guess I just have enough confidence in Brent and this coaching staff that. That those guys are going to emerge and we're going to be talking about four or five guys A lot differently a year from now than we are today. So look, if there is a concern defensively, it's that. But I think, I think that that's. I think they're going to figure that out. I really do, man.

We've been talking to a lot, a lot of folks, a lot of Oklahoma folks, a lot of them excited about going down to Gainesville this year. What are your thoughts on those Florida Gators?

Well, is that the game that you and I are going to be at? Because first two years in the sec, I've been at a game that cousin Shane has been at, so maybe it's the Florida game this year. I, yeah, I'm excited to go to the Swamp. I'm just very curious as to who Florida is going to be as a football team by the time that game goes around. Still have hard feelings about Tebow in the National Championship game. Haven't always heard the best things about Florida fans, especially in Gainesville. Haven't been around them before, but I haven't always heard. I don't feel like there's a lot of Southern hospitality there in Gainesville, but just seeing the Swamp, I think is going to be really cool. Just like seeing Neyland for the first time was freaking amazing, man. Like, that was. That was cool. So, yeah. Excited about that, oddly enough. I don't know why. I'm kind of excited to go to Starkville. Just never been there before. Just excited to see it.

So to go to Neyland for a big time football game was cool. Bryant, Denny's, awesome. I almost feel like it's more of a pro feel a little bit just because the stadium's so big. It's spread out. It. It Was a great atmosphere. It wasn't super loud but I nean's number one man. I Death Valley was cool, but it was the last game of the year. They were out of the playoff race. They didn't care. Ou was a 6 win team. I think when you go back and they're really good, if they're good under lane, I think that would threaten for maybe that second spots.

The good news is it can't be as worse as it was last year. I'll say for the first time in College Football Playoff history, the committee gets its act together. A 9 and 3 sec team will make the College Football Playoff. There will be a payoff and I know Drink and some others are worried about it and I think it's fair that, hey, you added another SEC game to the schedule. Is the committee going to respect that? They should. A 9 and 3 sec team will make the the College Football Playoff and oh, you will make it to Atlanta more importantly. So I'll give you two there and

Georgia. I'd pick Oklahoma. Maybe Texas is the 9 and 3 team. Hey, they've got a tougher schedule than they've had. I'm just saying I think they're going to be good, but they've just had a tougher schedule than they've had. So I'm just interested to see how they navigate that. So those would be my three fascinated about Ole Miss to see if they can replicate what they did last year.

I knew there would be some buzz about this team coming into today. I didn't think it was going to be like it was yesterday. They were the stars of the day. John Mattier, Brent Venable. So what does that mean? LSU was the buzz last year, and they fired Brian Kelly's ass before the year was over. So I don't think it ultimately means anything, but it's definitely been. There's more respect on OU this year than there has been the previous two years. I don't think it's that close.

Last year they lost Ole Miss, they got to go to Knoxville, to Tuscaloosa, play Mid Zoo and lsu, and there's conversations of if they lose all of those November games, watch out. And then they go on that magical red November run and. But yeah, I mean, there were even conversations of it going into November last year, but all of that's changed the mood around it. Everything is completely different than what it was at that time. Absolutely. Everybody feels good, so we'll see.

Yeah, from Taylor Wine, who he emerged after our Mason Thomas got hurt in that Tennessee game. He looked like the best player on the field. When they play Alabama, that was a really good OU defense that they had last year. And I asked him about it and he was like, man, I. I don't know. Like, it took us five games to create a turnover. And, oh, we're talking about. It's like it ain't good enough. It felt like he was talking to Brent Venables yesterday. Like, I look at that defense and say that's like one of the. That's the best defense you had in 20 years. And the way that he's looking at it, and I think everybody there, like, I mean, I don't know. It wasn't good enough for us. We got to be a lot better this year defensively. So that was kind of nice to hear. That they don't feel like they've just made it, that they're going to continue to push and maybe be an even better defense this year. And Sprint said yesterday they've got as much competitive depth offensively as they've ever had. That's got to be the case.

The program overall is in good shape right now, but it's still vastly different from the defense to the offense. The defense, their 11 starters will be old guys that they recruited. Right. The offense has kind of been a bunch of mercenaries. You got a Portal quarterback, your top three receivers are probably going to be Portal wide receivers. Your tight ends are Portal Guys, your offensive line's got some portal guys in there so they've got to get to the homegrown recruited guys like you've had on defense. They've got to figure that out offensively and it sounds like they're getting closer to that. But it's a huge year for the offense, man. It's the reason why they didn't make a deeper run in the playoff last year. And if they're going to make a deeper run this year, it's, it's on the offense.

You know, we get in conversation especially in the offseason about who's got the toughest schedule and I feel like Sooners may be leading the pack there, if not at least the top three. But did it surprise you when the over unders came out and Oklahoma was sitting at seven and a half coming off the playoffs?

I thought they'd be eight and a half. But if you look at, you know, certain sports books, they're an underdog at Michigan. I think they're going to go up there and win that game. I really do. They're like a ten point dog to Georgia. Okay, you see that? They're an underdog to Texas. I, I would hit the over on that just like I thought the over was going to hit last year at like six and a half. It's what I think it opened up as. I think that there's some real value in playing the over on OU and like Mike maybe picking him to make it to the SEC championship game, maybe win the SEC championship this year. But yeah, that did surprise. I thought it'd be a game higher at least. But it, it's brutal dude. At Michigan, at Georgia, Texas and Dallas, three of your first five. That sets up the entire season like the under. If you go03 in that stretch, the under is absolutely in play. Like you need to go, you need to win at least one and to give yourself some breathing room you may need to go two and one in that three game stretch.

Well of course they did because all they've done is cater to freaking Texas since they entered the league. Look at the difference in OU schedule the first two years and the crap Texas schedule Texas gets to play. Oh, they used to be rivals with Arkansas. Let's let them play Arkansas the first two years, huh? How can we play Arkansas? We don't play Arkansas to like year four in the sec. Oh, they get to play Mississippi State. They get to play Texas A and M in November. Who else would you rather play in the SEC than Texas A and M late in November with a lot on the line, that's a guaranteed win every single time. I'm telling you, they've had the layup schedule of anybody else in the sec. So yeah, doing that right there. Another sick joke by the sec. Have asked for a full refund since they did that. We'll see if they get back. But just more shenanigans from the sec. It's unbelievable, man.

They don't really care about Arkansas anyway. Arkansas cares about it, but LSU doesn't care about it. They rather play Oklahoma. So to have to go to Columbia, Missouri, where the sun's going to set at one o' clock that late in November, it's gonna be awful weather now. I hate it, man. I hate it now. I was talking with Ty Richardson, you guys know that covers Arkansas, and they were just like, thank you. Thank you for taking Missouri away from us. Hey, you can't hurt me because I've already made that joke on Texas stations this year. I'd say they better, man. You know, I think people still like Ben Arbuckle. But you are judged pretty heavily in what you do in that game and getting shut out the way that they did last year. You've got to respond in a big way. I mean, look, you got to go win at Michigan. You got to go do things that Joy. You got to do a lot of things. But there are more exciting games than there's ever been for on OU schedule. That's still the most important game. That's still the biggest game. It's still your biggest rival. You've got to perform there. So when I say Ben Arbuckle's on the hot seat, I wouldn't say that, but I'd say it's a big year for him in the offense. And what happens in that game is going to determine a lot as to what we think about the direction of the OU offense. You've got to score a touchdown three of the past four years. You haven't. I mean, come on, you got to. You got to go down there and score.

And I would even take it a step further, but I want to get your opinion, because I know that's that rivalry has been streaky. I think every, every Oklahoma fan is fired up about Venables. I think he's the best defensive mind in college football, and it's shown and the program's on the rise. And I'm not saying he's on any kind of hot seat, but if he loses to Texas again, I mean, is that, is that how we get to back being on the high? I mean, he has to win that game at some point, right?

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. If you're the head coach in Oklahoma, you need to beat Texas now. Call it a, an excuse, whatever. Jamateer was clearly affected by the hand injury one year. Dylan Gabriel got knocked out the game before. There was another year where I felt like they were, oh, which I don't think it would have mattered if, you know, you had the Jackson, Arnold, Michael Hawkins situations year before, but that's on you. Like, you got to be better prepared. You've had some bad luck of quarterback in that game, but you got to be better prepared. So, yeah, if you're the head coach at Oklahoma, you got to beat Texas and you can't lose to them consistently. So it's like, again, it's the biggest game of the year. It's a massive game for Brent Venables. You cannot continue to lose to Texas and people just be okay with it. Can't happen.

You know, South Carolina's due, but you know who does horrible here the last couple of even years is Brent Venables. And we go back. I mean, let's be realistic. 24. We got six, so we got a seesaw. We had 10 last year. Six, 10, six. So if they hit that six mark again, what is what happens at the end of the season? Is Arbuckle gone?

Yeah, that would, that would be a massive, massive setback because here's like you've got so many returners on def. Oh, you's done a great job of retaining talent. You got Kip Lewis to come back, you won against the law and you got Owen Heinecke to come back. Right. Taylor Wine's really good. David Stone, maybe his last year, they're going to be really good defensively as long as Brent's here. But this could be the most star studded group that they've had. My point is the time feels like it's now for ou. You need to take the next step. You've got the best defense that maybe you've had in a while. A six win season would be a drastic setback and yeah, I'm sure something would happen at the end of the year.

Well, it's funny because when I put out a little thing about blue blood programs, the first team that popped up in my feed, which I was expecting, was Alabama. But the second one kind of surprised me with Oklahoma. And I don't know if that's just me because I've not followed Oklahoma until they came into the sec. But I look back at this historical run you guys have had and I'm thinking to myself, what if the playoffs are in conversation every single year? What if this is the program that we should be talking about more than the Texas Longhorns that are coming in? So how big is it that we do? I mean, you've kind of hit on this, but how big is it for the program as a whole to take, you know, just to say, hey, this is where we belong, this is what we do every year?

Yeah, I mean, I think that that season last year and winning the games that you did, especially on the road. It's. Everybody was on board with this move. But to see it like, all right, we're good, we can do this. I think was was big. There's a 12 team playoff at the Big Ten has their way. Might be a 75 team playoff here in a couple of years, but as long as it stays 12, the thoughts and the opinions of oh you fans are we should be in the playoff most years and a contender for a 12 team playoff and every single year, even in the SEC. So that's how they view themselves as a program. Ultimately. We'll see if that's the case or not. But yeah, man, like this program's had a lot of success over the years. Texas does have the head to head against ou, but, oh, you's got more national championships, more conference championships, more Heismans. Oh, he's been the better program over the years than, than Texas has. Texas just gets kind of celebrated a lot more in the off season and they certainly deserve that recently for what they've done. But Oklahoma's a big time. And I remember when Paul, you're you guys. Love you some Paul Finebaum. He went to Norman, I think early on when, oh, he was in the SEC news. Like, I mean I was just looking around and I saw the Heisman park statues and the national Championship and I'm just like, oh my God. I mean Oklahoma's had a lot like, yeah, Paul, where you been, man? I thought you knew this sports. But I see it now when you're in the bubble of the SEC. Like, I don't watch Big 12 football anymore. I'm not watching the ACC. I'm not even really watching the Big Ten. There's so many intriguing storylines just in the SEC itself and games that you almost forget that everybody else is playing the sport. Unless you tune in on a Friday night or a Thursday night.

So he's a little bit dinged up. But I'm glad to see he's 100% healthy and he's back at it.

I think as we move forward in the off season, more and more people are kind of coming to that thought, like we could do this again. Those, the three of the first five games is so daunting and you haven't had recent success against Texas, but there's a belief that no man like now is the time. Our, our offense can't be as bad as it was last year and it's going to take a step because the pieces around John Mattier are a lot better. So yeah, there's a belief on it.

You thought, man, you enjoyed all that depth last year and you just don't have it. Maybe. Were we talking about Taylor Wine this time last year? I mean, no, I don't think we were talking about Owen Heinecke. I don't think we were talking about Cortland Guillory, who's one of the best corners in the sec. Like, I can kind of go down the list and I can pick out four or five guys. And that just speaks to the defense and how they've been able to develop guys. The offense hasn't been able to do that. They got to get to that. But the defense has. So on paper you say, I like what they're frontline guys, but where's the depth? I guess I just have enough confidence in Brent and this coaching staff that. That those guys are going to emerge and we're going to be talking about four or five guys A lot differently a year from now than we are today. So look, if there is a concern defensively, it's that. But I think, I think that that's. I think they're going to figure that out. I really do, man.

Well, is that the game that you and I are going to be at? Because first two years in the sec, I've been at a game that cousin Shane has been at, so maybe it's the Florida game this year. I, yeah, I'm excited to go to the Swamp. I'm just very curious as to who Florida is going to be as a football team by the time that game goes around. Still have hard feelings about Tebow in the National Championship game. Haven't always heard the best things about Florida fans, especially in Gainesville. Haven't been around them before, but I haven't always heard. I don't feel like there's a lot of Southern hospitality there in Gainesville, but just seeing the Swamp, I think is going to be really cool. Just like seeing Neyland for the first time was freaking amazing, man. Like, that was. That was cool. So, yeah. Excited about that, oddly enough. I don't know why. I'm kind of excited to go to Starkville. Just never been there before. Just excited to see it.

It Was a great atmosphere. It wasn't super loud but I nean's number one man. I Death Valley was cool, but it was the last game of the year. They were out of the playoff race. They didn't care. Ou was a 6 win team. I think when you go back and they're really good, if they're good under lane, I think that would threaten for maybe that second spots.

The good news is it can't be as worse as it was last year. I'll say for the first time in College Football Playoff history, the committee gets its act together. A 9 and 3 sec team will make the College Football Playoff. There will be a payoff and I know Drink and some others are worried about it and I think it's fair that, hey, you added another SEC game to the schedule. Is the committee going to respect that? They should. A 9 and 3 sec team will make the the College Football Playoff and oh, you will make it to Atlanta more importantly. So I'll give you two there and

Georgia. I'd pick Oklahoma. Maybe Texas is the 9 and 3 team. Hey, they've got a tougher schedule than they've had. I'm just saying I think they're going to be good, but they've just had a tougher schedule than they've had. So I'm just interested to see how they navigate that. So those would be my three fascinated about Ole Miss to see if they can replicate what they did last year.
