You're listening to the 47 Morning Update date with Ben Ferguson.
Tom Holman
Good Saturday morning to you, Ben Ferguson with you. And these are some of the stories that you may have missed that we talked about this week on the 47 Morning Update. First up, the new book that is out is saying that Joe Biden wasn't actually the president of the United States of America. In fact, there's now new accusations that there was five different people that were running the country. We'll have the details on that as well. Also, the American people are now backing Donald Trump at the same level they were on the day he was inaugurated. This after big news from a Middle east trip, the trade and tariff negotiations going extremely well, and the president making it clear he's securing the border. We'll have those details on those polls in just a moment. And finally, Tom Homan, the border czar, is going to join us in a moment. And we're going to talk a lot about what's happening at the border as well as what's happening with fentanyl and the national security Crisis. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now. The Atlantic has come out with a new article entitled An Autopsy Report on Biden's In Office Decline. The headline reads this way about the new book Original Sin. That book says this five people were running the country and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board. Now, this new book that has come out, Jake Tapper is one of the authors of it, from cnn, is now describing a presidency without a president, where there were five people, none of them actually named in this book, who were running the country and calling all of the shots. We also are now learning that the cognitive decline of the president was massive even before he became president of the United States of America, for example, three years later on the presidential campaign trail, Biden's struggles became more obvious to those around him, Tapper and Thompson report. In 2020, for example, members of Biden's inner circle gave the candidate a teleprompter with scripted questions for a local news interview, his dwindling communicative and cognitive abilities. Aides were shocked as they said they couldn't rely on Biden to stay on message and he often had a very short attention span. The book's most astounding, previously unreport story from Biden's 2020 campaign concerns his staff's attempts to create videos of the candidate speaking to voters over zoom. Tapper and Thompson's description of this is worth quoting at length, saying this Biden would sit in a room with several monitors beaming the faces of real Americans in front of him so they could discuss issues of importance. You have to remember this was during the time of COVID The videos came back hours of footage. Some on the team couldn't believe their eyes. The videos were horrible. One top Democrat said he couldn't follow the conversation at all. I couldn't believe it, said a second Democrat who hadn't seen Biden in a few years. It was like a different person. It was incredible. This was like watching Grandpa who Shouldn't be driving. Yes, they're referring to Joe Biden when he was running for president in 2020. A special team was brought in and told to edit the videos down to make them airable, if only a few minutes worth. They had to get, quote, creative. The authors go on to write edited. The videos likely appeared fine to viewers. Biden no worse than any other senior on zoom. But two of the Democrats who were involved in the film's production together were dumbfounded, saying, quote, I didn't think he could be president. The second Democrat said after what they'd seen, they couldn't understand how Biden could be capable of doing the job. And that's not the only thing that apparently is being revealed in this book that comes out on Tuesday. Another example of just how bad things were. Quote, In 2022, according to one witness, Biden found himself unable to remember the names of his own national security advisor, Jake Sullivan. Steve, he called him at least twice. Or his communications director, Kate Bedingfield, whom Biden once resorted to calling press. That's not the only thing that we learned from this book in the excerpts, as some high ranking Democrats quoted anonymously in the book put it to Tapper and Thompson after Biden's disastrous debate with Trump last June, they said, just who the hell is running the country? At least one unnamed source close to the Biden administration was willing to provide the authors with an answer. And this is the part that should make every American angry. Quote, five people were running the country, the insider said, seemingly referring to the president's closest advisors. And Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board. Near the end of the book, Tapper and Thompson offer a glimpse into how powerful Democrats responded, for example, to the grim spectacle of Biden's early summer face off with Trump. The authors described a scene at the home of James Kostos, an ambassador to Spain under Obama, where celebrities and politicians gathered to watch the debate. Debate. As a dotering Biden tanked on stage in front of some 50 million Americans, the film director and Democratic donor Rob Reiner became scared, then furious, saying, quote, we're going to lose our effing democracy because of you. He screamed, seeming to direct his ear at the closest thing to a Biden official in the room. Who was it? The second gentleman, Doug Inhofe. What Reiner apparently failed to consider, but what original sin the book prompts readers to ask is whether America's democracy was already meaningfully diminished. Describing how some in Biden's world justified propping him up for re election in 2024, a longtime aide told Tapper and Thompson, quote, he just had to win and then he could disappear for four years. He'd only have to show proof of life every once in a while. In other words, before Biden stepped down from the race, the plan for some aid seemed to be the Weekend at Bernie's. A cognitively impaired president in the hopes that upon winning a second term, he could be hidden from the public while unelected staff took care of the real business of governing. When you vote for somebody, you're voting for the people around them, too. This aid offered as a way of justifying what was, by any reasonable metric, an effort to undermine democracy and defraud the American people. So, yes, the COVID up was massive. Yes, we had someone running the country or a group of people that were elected by no one. And now the question is, what is Congress going to do about it? And will there be an investigation? We'll keep covering it right here.
Ryan Seacrest
Now, story number two.
Tom Holman
There's one thing that is for sure. Democrats are having a tough couple of weeks. James Comey is under investigation. Now there's a massive tell all book talking about Joe Biden not actually being the President of the United States of America. Democrats who are rallying behind the 86, 47 picture on the beach. It's not going well. But who is it going well for? Where four polls are now showing that Donald Trump has a strong approval rating. That's right. Coming off of last week's trip to the Middle East. And his administration's recent progress on trade agreements. It appears to have boosted the perception among American voters, with four national polls now showing Donald Trump's favorability rating above 47%, consistent with the levels following his inauguration. Polls released on Monday by Morning Consult Rasmussen and Harvard Harris showed Trump's approval ratings at 48, 49 and 47, respectively. And the Daily Mail poll released Sunday showed his approval rating at actually 50%. Despite the doom and gloom headlines from news organizations, the American people actually feel great about the direction of the country. That's what the White House had to say. And adding this what's to hate? We are undoing the widely unpopular agenda of the previous office holder, uprooting waste, fraud and abuse and chugging along on the great American comeback. The Daily Mail poll was conducted, by the way, May 13th and 14th. With a large sample size of more than a thousand registered voters. Trump's approval rating is up 5 percentage points from a poll taken 100 days into his second term nearly three weeks ago. The most important thing this shows is that Trump can bounce back when some of his voters waiver is what James Johnson, the co founder of JL Partners, said. People who were concerned about the sense of direction, the strength after tariff reversals are now back on board as they see the president doing what they feel he does best, making deals. This on top of the new news that we may actually get an into the war with Ukraine and Russia, that the President's brokering will only push his approval ratings higher.
Ryan Seacrest
And finally, story number three.
Tom Holman
There is one man that is fighting tooth and nail to keep all Americans safe and getting rid of violent criminals that are in this country illegally. His name is Tom Holman and he's the border czar. And I was able to sit down with him and ask him several questions about exactly where we are in the fight to get rid of so many people that broke into this country illegally. And here is what he had to say. You mentioned budget a moment ago and how important it is to have the budget for you guys to continue your job. Explain for everyone listening, is that referencing the big beautiful bill and what is in there that you need so much to continue to do your job at the border?
Ben Ferguson
Well, we want to make the border secure permanently. So we need more infrastructure, right? So we need to finish building a wall. Now let's be clear. Every place they build a border barrier, illegal immigrations went down, illegal drug flow went down. But most importantly, wall lives, women and children can't get over that wall. The most vulnerable. So they Go to a place where there's not a wall and what's waiting on them, the men and women of the Border Patrol, first of all. So the ball saves lives. So we need to finish the border barrier. We need money to finish the technology within the existing border wall. Because not only did President Biden stop the construction of the wall, he stopped adding the technology in that smart wall. Technology that lets us know when someone climbs a wall, touch this wall, dig under that wall. Technology where border patrol agents in the middle of nowhere can get on a radio and use a wall as a repeater to talk to other agents for help. There are some places on the southern border where they lose all communication. So all that technology needs to be done. More technology at the port of entry to make sure no fentanyl is coming through. And as far as the interior enforcement, we need beds. Right now we got about 52,000 people in detention. We're funded at 34,000. ICE is already in the hole. We need about 100,000 beds because everybody we arrest needs a bed. We just don't arrest somebody in New York City and put them on plane leave. We got to detain them for several days or several weeks to get travel documents, get flight arrangements, flight clearances. So we need beds. So we need, you know, so this budget that the pending budget right now, the big beautiful bill will give us money for those beds. They're going to give us thousands of more. Border license, thousands more ICE agents. It's going to give ICE a budget to bring in more contracts up. What I mean by that, badges and guns shouldn't be sitting at a desk doing reports of processing. They shouldn't be sitting at a desk doing travel documents and all the administrative duties that occur within ice. You can have a contractor sitting there doing that work, give that badge and gun, get them out on the street to arrest the public safety threats and national security threats. So we need the money. Like I said, we're doing more than Biden did, But Biden wasn't doing anything. We need to do 10 times more than Biden doing, not three times more. And I'll leave you with this. We got 700,000 illegal aliens in this country with a criminal conviction walking the streets of this country. We got to get them. We got to get them quickly. We got 1.4 million illegal aliens who do have due process at great taxpayer expense, were ordered removed by a federal judge and didn't leave, and they become fugitives. We got a lot of work to do, and we need money to do more. We're doing good, but the more money we have, the more we can do.
Tom Holman
Tom, you mentioned finding them all. Let's talk about sanctuary cities for a second. It's very clear Democrats are not backing off of that. How dangerous is the policy and who is being harbored in these cities that are refusing to work with you guys? Will there be accountability? Are they harboring Ms. 13 gang members and domestic terrorists? Foreign terrorists, Those that are putting the fentanyl out in society. How dangerous are these cities?
Ben Ferguson
They're dangerous for everybody. Because in a sanctuary city means I don't have access to jail rest a bad guy public safety threat. In the safety and security of a jail, were the aliens safe, the officer safe and the public safe. When sanctuary cities knowingly release a public safety threat back in the street, it certainly puts the community at risk, even puts the alien at risk because anything can happen during a street arrest. And a great, it puts the officers at great risk because now we got to arrest a criminal alien public safety threat on his turf, who he has access to, who knows what weapons. It's very dangerous. And yes, we're going to hold sanctuary cities accountable. Pam, Bonnie's already filed lawsuits against several. We're working with DOJ now. Again, we want. Where's that bright? Where's that? Where's that line? When do you cross that line? You can sit there and watch ICE do your job. Because here's what irritates me the most. I don't care what party you're in, if you're an elected mayor, elected city council person or elected governor, your number one responsibility is the safety and security of your neighborhoods, your communities. ICE has been clear from the beginning with President Trump. We're going to prioritize public safety threats and national security threats. Why will you not help us make your community safer? There's no downside on that. And sanctuary cities want to argue, well, we're a sanctuary city because we want victims and witnesses of crime, if they're illegally in the United States to feel comfortable coming to the law enforcement without fear of working with us. That is a bunch of crap. Victims and witnesses of crime don't want the bad guy in the neighborhood either. And as far as the illegal alien community, I'll say this, despite being here illegally, many of them are God fearing family people. They don't want a predator in the neighborhood either. They don't want someone convicted DUI 10 times driving through their neighborhood either. So, you know, if you go to the immigrant community and ask one simple question, would you rather have ICE Operating in the jail or in your community? What do you think they're going to say? They're going to say the jail. So sanctuaries will be held accountable. Matter of fact, we're reissuing the ICE detainer. We just changed the new ICE detainer. We're letting in black and white. Let them know this person is a designated terrorist. This person is a designated returned felon. We're going to let them know exactly who they're detaining based on biographic and biometric information and see what they do. Are they going to violate Lakes and Riley Act? Then we'll go out to prosecution. Are they going to normally release a terrorist? Then we're going to go out to prosecution. So it's about to get a lot tougher and it's the right thing to do.
Tom Holman
I want to go back to accountability for a second time. I want to ask you. There are a lot of people that believe that there were laws that were broken deliberately in the last administration. They knew they were breaking the law. One of those would be former Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas that you mentioned a moment ago. Should he be criminally prosecuted for his role in the border crisis? If it was as deliberate as it now seems.
Ben Ferguson
Look, I think what he did was borderline treasonous. I'm not an attorney, I'm not a prosecutor, but what he did, he did more damage to this country. Him and the Biden administration. What they did to this country. I can tell you when they opened that border up, sex trafficking, women increased tenfold. A record number of migrants died making that journey. Over 4,000. A record number of Americans died from fentanyl that come across an open border. And it's just what he calls this country and from a national security perspective, because here's what his orders were. Process quick, release quick. They didn't care about the crisis. They cared about the optics of the crisis. If there's no overcrowding, there's nothing to see here. So border trades were processed as quick as they could and releasing as quick as they could. And there's been several instances where they released so quickly the FBI scanned and come back and they came back hot after they already been released. They came back hot as a known inspector terror. So, yeah, what he did was unconscionable. What he did is, in my opinion, borderline treasonous. He should be held accountable because a lot of deaths occurred under his watch. And look at like Senator Cruz said a few minutes ago, right now, 96% decline in illegal immigration when 96% less people are coming. How many women aren't being raped? How many children aren't dying crossing that border? How many known inspected terrorists aren't getting in the country? How many pounds of fentanyl is not getting in the country? What are you going to see? Under President Trump's administration, fentanyl deaths would decrease, sex trafficking would decrease, smuggling would decrease. And no inspector terrorists, they got no open that anymore. Now that we got the border secure. Every single border patrol agent is on the line on patrol doing his national security duty. Under Joe Biden, it was an average, most days, an average 70%. 70 70% of agents were no longer on patrol. They were changing diapers, making baby formula, making hospital runs. The last time I went down there before the election, I talked to hundreds of board police and told me, hang on, hang on, change is coming. I really think President Trump's going to win where they told me no. We're sick of being tourist stations. We're sick of being uber drivers. We process and deliver these people to the very same people who pay for their smuggling. They couldn't recruit, they couldn't. People were quitting. They were quitting before they're even eligible for retirement. They couldn't read the recruiting numbers. You know, last month, ice, excuse me, Border Patrol had the highest recruiting numbers in the history of that agency just last month.
Tom Holman
I gotta say, there's so many Americans that are so thankful that Donald Trump picked Tom Holman to lead in this role. And it's also very clear that he's not stopping. He is going to continue to fight for Americans and make sure that these violent criminals and those that are human trafficking, sex trafficking, bringing in fentanyl at record numbers and killing American citizens are out of this country for good. He also is fighting hard to secure our southern border and continue to build the wall. A promise that Donald Trump said will be done while he's in office during the next four years.

The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson: Episode Summary Release Date: May 24, 2025
Ben Ferguson, hosted by Premiere Networks, dives deep into the pressing political narratives shaping America in this engaging episode titled "A Nation on Autopen, Trump’s Rising Tide plus Border Warrior Tom Homan’s Mission." The episode covers explosive revelations about President Joe Biden’s administration, the resurgence of Donald Trump’s popularity, and an in-depth conversation with Border Czar Tom Holman about the ongoing border crisis.
Timestamp: 03:05 - 10:02
The episode kicks off with a shocking revelation from The Atlantic featuring the new book Original Sin, authored by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Thompson. The book alleges that Joe Biden was not the sole authority running the United States during his presidency. Instead, it suggests that “five people were running the country,” relegating Biden to a mere “senior member of the board.”
Ben Ferguson delves into the book’s claims, highlighting Biden’s alleged cognitive decline, which supposedly became evident during the 2020 presidential campaign. Notable excerpts include:
The book details encounters where Biden struggled to interact effectively, such as during Zoom meetings where his performance was so disheartening that Democratic aides questioned his capability to lead:
Furthermore, the book accuses Biden's administration of undermining democracy, with insiders revealing plans to maintain control by obscuring the President’s role:
These revelations spark questions about accountability and the integrity of the current administration, prompting discussions on potential investigations by Congress.
Timestamp: 10:03 - 15:25
Contrasting the gloomy outlook surrounding Biden, Ferguson highlights a significant uptick in Donald Trump’s approval ratings. Recent polls from Morning Consult, Rasmussen, Harvard Harris, and the Daily Mail indicate Trump’s favorability is soaring, reaching up to 50%:
Key factors contributing to this resurgence include:
James Johnson from JL Partners attributes Trump’s bounce-back to voters regaining confidence in his leadership:
The White House counters the negative media portrayal by emphasizing achievements:
These developments suggest a shifting political landscape, with Trump regaining his foothold amidst the current administration’s challenges.
Timestamp: 15:25 - 21:21
In the third segment, Ben Ferguson interviews Tom Holman, the appointed Border Czar, who outlines the critical measures needed to address the worsening border crisis. Holman emphasizes the urgency of securing the border permanently through infrastructure and technology:
Key points discussed include:
Holman also addresses the issue of sanctuary cities, condemning them for harboring dangerous individuals and obstructing law enforcement efforts:
Further, Holman criticizes former Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas, labeling his actions as “borderline treasonous” for his role in exacerbating the border crisis:
Holman’s passionate advocacy underscores the administration’s commitment to reversing the perceived failures of the previous administration and restoring national security.
Ben Ferguson wraps up the episode by juxtaposing the troubling allegations against President Biden with the growing support for Donald Trump and the active measures being taken to secure the border. The narrative conveys a nation grappling with leadership controversies, political realignments, and pressing national security issues.
Key Takeaways:
This episode of The 47 Morning Update offers a compelling exploration of current American political tensions, providing listeners with insider perspectives and authoritative commentary on the state of the nation.
Notable Quotes:
For those seeking a deeper understanding of America’s current political climate, this episode delivers a comprehensive and thought-provoking analysis.
