Donald Trump
Well, I want a dynamic country where private enterprise carries the day, not the government, that no matter what I do, this group of people in front of us, I could come up with the cure to the worst disease that the world has ever seen. They're going to sit there angry, insolent, with sour faces.
Ben Ferguson
You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
Good Monday morning, Ben Ferguson with you. It's nice to have you on the 47 Morning Update. And we've got three big stories for you. First up, Columbia University finding out that when you mess with Donald Trump, there are real problems. And now their federal funding is gone. Plus, a student has been arrested that was a pro Palestinian activist and he may even be deported. Up next, Donald Trump comes out with a new jobs report showing a massive gain for American workers and fewer jobs for foreign born workers. What does this mean for you? I'll explain it in a moment. And finally, Donald Trump says let's make a deal. Making a new play for Greenland to come to the U. S. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now.
Story number one.
I want to take you back to May 6th of 2024. Donald Trump was speaking outside of the criminal trial in New York City. Remember when he was forced to do those daily little quick briefings before he was forced into the courtroom when lawfare was all over Donald Trump trying to take him out of the presidential race. He was still laser focused then about the radicalization on our college campuses, including at Columbia University. And this is what he had to say in the summer of 2024.
Donald Trump
Now, it just came out, Columbia just canceled their commencement. Axios Colombia just canceled their commencement. That shouldn't happen. And it also came out that the protesters, many of the protesters are backed by Biden's donors. Okay, are you listening, Israel? I hope you're listening, Israel. Hope you're getting smart. But they're backed by Biden donors. That's where the money's coming.
Ben Ferguson
That's where the money's coming from. The president made it clear that if he was elected again, he was going to hold these universities accountable for not stopping the anti Semitic protests and violent protests and threats against students. Well, the president is now paying off on that promise. Donald Trump cuts more than $400 million in grants to Colombia over anti Semitism concerns and potentially there are more cuts to come. That's right. The Trump administration announc that it will rescind more than 400 million in federal grants to Columbia University, citing concerns over the rising anti Semitism on campus and the school's failure to address it. Earlier this week, the Department of Health and Human Services and the U. S. General Services Administration as well as the Education Department announced the initiation of a quote, comprehensive review of more than 5 billion in federal grant money that goes to Colombia. Why on earth are we spending $5 billion to Columbia? Is the question you should asking right now, by the way. And in light of ongoing investigations for potential violations, they said, of the Civil Rights act related to anti Semitism on campus, all of the funding will be under review. Quote, it has only been four days since the Trump administration announced the review, but the agencies have already begun slashing the funds. Sources familiar with the matter, who asked remain anonymous, said that more than 400 million in federal grants from HHS and the DoED will be rescinded from Colombia as a result of the anti Semitism that is continuing, they believe on campus. As the review of Columbia's grant dollars continues, additional federal funding could be rescinded as well. But that's not all that Donald Trump is doing to make good on his promise. We now know that ICE has arrested a radical pro Palestinian activist at Columbia University and he may now face deportation. In fact, Secretary of State Marco Rubio just issued a new statement after the Trump administration arrested the activists and he said this, quote, we will be revoking the visas and or Green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported. This goes back to the saying that seems to be coming a trend with this administration CAFO. And not only did President Trump cut the 400 million in funding, but as he said and warned on the campaign trail, if you are a guest in this country and we've allowed you to come study in America and you are a active, violent protester, we will get you out of this country. Now, there's also word that this may not be the only student who is arrested as a pro Palestinian activist. In fact, they say they're not just setting an example, but they are actually going after individuals that are doing violence on college campuses. So at the end of the day, Donald Trump promises became a reality that if you are one of those that is doing harm and you're not from the US on an American campus, get the hell out. And as for Columbia University, Good luck finding $400 million somewhere else as you're not protecting Jewish students on campus.
Next story number two, putting Americans first.
What a novel idea. Yet it's something that shocks so many Americans as Donald Trump was running for president, well, he's paying off on that promise with a new jobs report showing 284,000 more Americans are working and 87,000 fewer foreign born workers are working. That is a big change from the Biden administration to the Trump policy which is to put Americans first. The President announcing this from the Oval Office and here is what he had to say.
Donald Trump
Native born Americans. For the first time in 15 months, the job gains for native born Americans, for American people, people born in America exceeded job gains for migrant and foreign born workers. This is the first time that's happened in more than 15 months. Employment for native born workers went up by 284,000 while foreign born workers went down by 87,000. Now, you know, you've heard the same stat where foreign workers were taking up all the jobs or almost all the jobs in some cases literally all of the jobs. And now it's 284,000 native born jobs here. People born in our country, 284,000. While foreign born workers went down by 87,000. First time that's happened in a long time. So these are incredible numbers and they're, they're very early. I mean, you know, we're here for five weeks, but we have been talking about it since the big win in November, November 5th. So a lot of these people, they listen to speak and they say, well, I'm going to gear up. And they're gearing up. And so they've been gearing up. They've had a little time. It's not just. It's not just five weeks. It's five weeks plus a few months.
Ben Ferguson
Now, the part of this story that the mainstream media does not want you to understand is this is a direct change in an administrative position from the White House that caused this massive amount of Americans to get employment while foreign workers employment went down. How do we know this? Well, President Joe Biden's economic policies literally invited migrants to take almost 5 million jobs that would otherwise have gone to 5 million Americans. That's what they referred to as the replacement strategy, cut American wages and workplace investment. And that did a lot of damage to Americans. And the reason why they did it is because they wanted to bring in people from overseas to undermine Americans. Why? Because they wanted to bring in illegal immigrants as well. And that was part of their strategy to replace you with foreign workers. But there was also another part of this plan from the Biden administration. It was also to boost employment numbers. It left you out of those numbers. As Americans were being sidelined, 5 million of you were being sidelined and put at the back of the employment line. Yet the President was claiming that things were great in this country. Well, now, Donald Trump's good data that was released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics is showing that Americans are being put back at the front of the line, and they expect these numbers to get even better. So the good news is, if you're an American, you now have a president that's fighting for you to get a great paying American job.
And here is story number three.
It was an idea that Donald Trump said, and many laughed. The idea that Greenland would become a part of America. Well, Donald Trump seems to be really focused on this becoming a reality. In fact, at the State of the Union, less than a week ago, the President said this.
Donald Trump
And I also have a message tonight for the incredible people of Greenland. We strongly support your right to determine your own future. And if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America. We need Greenland for national security and even international security. And we're working with everybody involved to try and get it. But we need it really for international world security. And I think we're going to get it. One way or the other, we're going to get it. We will keep you safe. We will make you rich. And together, we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before. It's a very small population, but very, very large piece of land and very, very important for Military security.
Ben Ferguson
Well, now we know that President Trump had a lot more he wanted to say than just those words of the State of the Union. Now, President Trump is vowing to, quote, invest billions into Greenland and to create new jobs if Greenlanders decide to join the United States, adding that they would be very welcome. Quote, as I made clear during my joint address to Congress, the United States strongly supports the people of Greenland's right to determine their own future. We will continue to keep you safe, he went on to say. As we have Since World War II, we are ready to invest billions of dollars to create new jobs and make you rich. And if you so choose, we welcome you to be a part of the greatest nation anywhere in the world, the United States of America. Now the left is freaking out and they're also helping with the media coverage as Greenland's prime minister responded to Trump's statement from earlier this year saying that Greenland is, quote, not for sale and would never be for sale. That is what they said to the Guardian at the time, saying Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for, quote, freedom. The president made it very clear he's not trying to, quote, buy the country. He is, however, saying to the people that if you want to become a part of America and make sure that you're safe, we'd love to have you. Now, why is the prime Minister of Greenland against this? Because it means that he would lose a lot of power. And the media also wants to make sure that Donald Trump fails so they can laugh in his face, just as the Democrats started laughing when the President brought up Greenland during the State of the Union. But it's very obvious now that the President has a long term plan to get this done. And let's be honest, Donald Trump is the master of, well, the art of the deal.

The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson
Episode: Campus Crackdown: Trump's De-funding of Columbia & the ICE Arrest of a Pro Palestinian Student
Release Date: March 10, 2025
Host: Ben Ferguson
Publisher: Premiere Networks
In this compelling episode of The 47 Morning Update, host Ben Ferguson delves into three significant and provocative stories shaping the American socio-political landscape. Focusing primarily on the actions of former President Donald Trump, Ferguson provides in-depth analysis, exclusive insights, and unfiltered commentary on the intersection of higher education, immigration policy, and international relations.
Timestamp: [02:10]
Ben Ferguson opens the discussion by revisiting a pivotal moment from May 6, 2024, when Donald Trump addressed the nation outside a criminal trial in New York City. During this period, Trump criticized the radicalization on college campuses, specifically targeting Columbia University.
Key Points:
Funding Rescission: The Trump administration has announced the withdrawal of over $400 million in federal grants from Columbia University. This move is a direct response to rising anti-Semitic sentiments and the university's perceived inaction in addressing these issues.
Comprehensive Review: Multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), and the Department of Education (DoED), have initiated a thorough review of Columbia's $5 billion in federal funding. This review scrutinizes potential violations of the Civil Rights Act related to anti-Semitism on campus.
ICE's Intervention: In addition to funding cuts, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a pro-Palestinian student activist at Columbia University, signaling a broader crackdown on foreign nationals involved in campus activism. This action aligns with Trump's campaign promises to expel foreign students who engage in violent protests.
Notable Quotes:
Donald Trump:
“Columbia just canceled their commencement. That shouldn't happen. And it also came out that the protesters, many of the protesters are backed by Biden's donors. Okay, are you listening, Israel? I hope you're listening, Israel. Hope you're getting smart. But they're backed by Biden donors. That's where the money's coming.”
[02:39]
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State:
“We will be revoking the visas and/or Green Cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported.”
[05:30]
Analysis: Ferguson emphasizes that these actions are a fulfillment of Trump's campaign promises to hold universities accountable for fostering environments where anti-Semitism can flourish. By severing financial ties and enforcing immigration restrictions, the administration aims to curtail the influence of foreign activists deemed a threat to national security and campus harmony.
Timestamp: [06:27]
Transitioning to economic policies, Ben Ferguson highlights a groundbreaking jobs report released by Donald Trump, showcasing a significant shift towards prioritizing American workers over foreign-born labor.
Key Points:
Job Growth Statistics: The report reveals an increase of 284,000 jobs for native-born Americans while there is a decline of 87,000 jobs for foreign-born workers. This marks the first instance in over 15 months where American job gains outpace those of migrant labor.
Policy Reversal: Ferguson attributes this positive turnaround to Trump's administrative policies aimed at reversing the previous administration's "replacement strategy," which allegedly favored foreign workers at the expense of American employment opportunities.
Biden Administration Critique: According to Ferguson, the Biden administration's policies led to the sidelining of 5 million American workers by promoting the hiring of illegal immigrants. These policies, Ferguson argues, were designed to undermine American wages and reduce workplace investment, ultimately harming the domestic workforce.
Notable Quotes:
Analysis: Ferguson presents Trump's jobs report as a vindication of his "America First" economic strategy. By emphasizing the resurgence of American employment, the administration positions itself as a champion of domestic workers, contrasting sharply with the previous administration's immigration policies. This narrative aims to resonate with American workers who felt marginalized by earlier economic decisions.
Timestamp: [09:45]
In perhaps the most audacious segment of the episode, Ben Ferguson explores Donald Trump's initiative to incorporate Greenland into the United States, a plan that has stirred both national and international debate.
Key Points:
State of the Union Declaration: Less than a week prior, Trump declared his support for Greenland's right to self-determination but expressed a strong interest in integrating it into the U.S., citing national and international security benefits.
Investment and Development: Trump promised to invest billions of dollars into Greenland, aiming to create new jobs and enhance the region's infrastructure, thereby making life more prosperous for its inhabitants should they choose to join the United States.
Greenland's Response: The Prime Minister of Greenland has firmly rejected the proposal, asserting, “Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.” This statement underscores Greenland's commitment to sovereignty and resistance to perceived external pressures.
Media and Political Pushback: Ferguson notes that mainstream media outlets and political adversaries are actively working to undermine Trump's efforts, framing the initiative as neocolonialism and questioning its feasibility and ethical implications.
Notable Quotes:
Donald Trump:
“We need Greenland for national security and even international security. And I think we're going to get it. One way or the other, we're going to get it. We will keep you safe. We will make you rich.”
[10:00]
Greenland's Prime Minister:
“Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”
[11:15]
Analysis: Ferguson frames Trump's endeavor to annex Greenland as a strategic masterstroke aimed at bolstering U.S. military presence and securing geopolitical advantages in the Arctic region. Despite significant resistance from Greenland and international observers, Ferguson portrays Trump as unwavering in his pursuit, leveraging his reputation as a dealmaker to navigate the complex diplomatic landscape.
In this episode, Ben Ferguson provides listeners with a deep dive into Donald Trump's bold policies and their implications for American society and international relations. From leveraging federal funding to influence higher education policies, restructuring the job market to favor native-born Americans, and attempting groundbreaking territorial integrations, Trump's actions continue to shape the national discourse. Ferguson's analysis offers a perspective that emphasizes the fulfillment of campaign promises and the pursuit of an "America First" agenda, encouraging listeners to stay informed and engaged with the unfolding political narratives.
