Mr. President, do you intend to lift sanctions on Iranian oil and do you intend to potentially put US Troops or more troops in the region? No, I'm not putting troops anywhere.
Interviewer
If I, if I were, I certainly wouldn't tell you.

You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
Good Friday morning. Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two stories for you. First, there's a growing obsession from the Democrats claiming that there was no imminent threat from Iran. We'll debunk that. Plus the speaker of the House, Mike Johnson throws down on intelligence and calls out a man by the name of Joe Kentucky and his lies. But before we get to that, I want to tell you about our good friends at Patriot Mobile. America is entering the 250th year and the direction of this country is being decided right now. In our culture and our economy and who we choose to support matters more than ever. Most wireless companies don't care who you are or what you believe. They just want your money. Patriot Mobile, they're different. For more than 12 years, they've stood with Americans who believe freedom is is worth defending. Funding the Christian conservative movement. When others stay silent, that's what they do. So here's the deal. You don't have to give up quality or service when you switch to Patriot Mobile. They deliver premium priority access on all three major U.S. networks. So you'll get the same or better coverage than you have today. Think switching is a hassle? It isn't anymore. In 2026, you keep your number, keep your phone or Upgrade and they're 100% US based. Support can activate you in minutes. Still paying off a device. Patriot Mobile even offers a contract buyout. This is a defining year. We must work together to save our country. So go to patriot mobile.com Ben47 or call 972 Patriot. And if you use the promo code Ben47, you'll get a free month of service. That's patriotmobile.com Ben47 or 972 Patriot and switch. Today, it's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now. Story number one, Democrats are pushing a new narrative right now that Iran was not an imminent threat to the United States of America. Therefore, Donald Trump jumped the gun and should not have acted to go after the regime. Well after the strikes and the broader military operations have been a massive success, Democrats are now trying to figure out how, how do you push this narrative that this was a war of choice, arguing there's no credible intelligence to justify the actions? Some lawmakers, even after classified briefings, have doubled down, saying they didn't see evidence of an immediate threat. Take a listen to the House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, and what he had to say at the press conference, having
Commercial Announcer 2
been briefed now not once but twice. There is no evidence that has been presented to us that the United States was under threat of imminent attack from Iran. Zero evidence of that. In fact, many members of the administration have actually publicly now admitted that. So if in fact, that was the case, it's hard for the American people to understand the rationale from launching a preemptive war in the Middle east that has now spread to more than half a dozen countries and resulted in the death of at least six brave, courageous, heroic service members. That's unacceptable.
Ben Ferguson
Now Democrats are using the death of those soldiers to push their political agenda. Now the dni, Director Gabbard was also asked on Capitol Hill as Democrats answer, honing in on this one single point. And here's what she had to say about the only person that's opinion matters, really on what an imminent threat is and can determine what to do about it, she says, is actually the president of the United States of America.
Senator or Questioner
Was it the assessment of the intelligence community that there was an imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime?
Intelligence Official
The intelligence community assessed that Iran maintained the intention to rebuild and to continue to grow their nuclear enrichment.
Senator or Questioner
Was it the assessment of the intelligence community that there was a, quote, imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime? Yes or no, Senator?
Intelligence Official
The only person who can determine what is and is not an imminent threat is the president.
Commercial Announcer 5
False.
Senator or Questioner
This is the worldwide, this is the worldwide threats hearing where you present to Congress national intelligence, timely, objective and independent of political considerations. You've stated today that the intelligence community's assessment is that Iran's nuclear enrichment program was obliterated and that, quote, there had been no efforts since then to try to rebuild their enrichment capability Was it the intelligence community's assessment that nevertheless, despite this obliteration, there was a, quote, imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime? Yes or no?
Intelligence Official
It is not the intelligence community's responsibility to determine what is and is not an imminent threat.
Speaker Mike Johnson
Okay.
Intelligence Official
That is up to you. The problem on a volume.
Senator or Questioner
No, it is. It is precisely that he received. It is precisely your responsibility.
Ben Ferguson
You can hear their Democrats honing in. And now they've latched onto the resignation of the top counterterrorism official who is grandstanding, claiming the same exact thing, that Iran didn't pose an imminent danger. Now, to be clear, that completely contradicts what that individual had said in the weeks and months and years in the past. We also have now found out that that same individual is apparently under FBI investigation that was open long before his resignation for leaking classified information.
Intelligence Official
Sources are saying that Joe Kent, the former director of the United States National Counterterror Center. This is from Semaphore. He just resigned. He's now under FBI investigation for allegedly leaking classified information, and the investigation predates his departure. Congressman, your reaction to that tonight?
Interviewer
Wow.
Ben Ferguson
Well, there's a lot there, and I think that we need to let this investigation play out, but we shouldn't tolerate any leakers in the administration, particularly regarding classified national security interests and information. So we'll let this play out and see where it goes. But if he was leaking, he ought to be held accountable just like anybody else would be.
You listen to the former National Counterterrorism center director, Joe Kent, again under FBI investigation for allegedly leaking classified information. And the investigation predates his departure. Now, the White House, by the way, they're in on this as well, making it clear where they stand. They were acting, as they described it, on intelligence, on decades of Iranian aggression, and on a very simple reality. Iran has been a sustained, evolving threat to the United States and its allies for nearly half a century. Top Republicans and administration officials have pushed back hard, saying the President reviewed intelligence and made a deliberate decision that the threat was real and imminent. And they're not alone. Military leadership has been crystal clear about the mission. Dismantle Iran's nuclear capabilities, neutralize missile threats, and stop a regime that has targeted Americans around the globe. Defense officials have said this operation is about finishing a fight Iran has been waging for years, not starting a new one. And even more importantly, early intelligence assessments now say that Iran's capabilities have been significantly degraded as a result of these new strikes. That's not speculation. That's literally the results of the actions taken by the Trump administration. And while Democrats are focused on second guessing the timing, the Trump administration is focused on outcomes. Stopping nuclear escalation, protecting American lives, and reasserting deterrence in a region where weakness has major consequences. Let's be honest about what's happening here. Democrats are debating process, and President Trump is acting on prevention. They're arguing about whether the threat was imminent enough. The administration is saying, we're not waiting for Americans to die to prove it. And politically, this is a familiar pattern because every time decisive action is taken against an adversary like Iran, the same voices emerge, questioning whether we should have acted at all. But the Trump doctrine is different. In fact, it's really simple. If you threaten Americans, if you move towards nuclear capability, if you destabilize the world, you don't get the benefit of the doubt. You get stopped. And that's exactly what this administration believes it has done so far and will continue to do. I want you to take a listen to what Speaker Johnson had to say on Fox News Channel, not only about Joe Kent's resignation, but the reality of the situation in D.C. and the president's decision to act.
Interviewer
How is that not an imminent threat?
Speaker Mike Johnson
Yeah, that's a great question. I'm not sure what Joe Kent is reading, but it's not the same intel that I've seen. Look, I'm on the Gang of Eight. We got all the briefings before this operation in Iran began. We got briefings during and then after it commenced. And the intelligence was exquisite. It was very clear this was an imminent threat to the United States and America's interest. And the commander in chief did exactly the right thing. He had to protect American lives. We knew that those ballistic missiles that they were stockpiling and preparing were going to be fired at our troops and our civilians and our installations in the region. And so the commander in chief did what he had to do. Joe Kent seemed to understand that until about 24 hours ago. I'm not sure what happened there. There's lots of discussion about it on Capitol Hill. As you can imagine, we're trying to get down to the bottom of it. But he is an outlier. I'm telling you. As we noted earlier, Bongino and others have said, everyone else in the administration and everyone who sees the actual intelligence understands clearly that the president did what he had to do.
Ben Ferguson
All right.
Interviewer
And Speaker Johnson, I think you would confirm, as I know, as Dan Bongino knows, anybody that knows the president knows he is a man of his own mind. He will listen to everybody. He'll listen to all points of view and he's going to make up his own mind, then it's the job of those people around him to support the policies. He was elected commander in chief, not them. Some of them need to learn that.
Speaker Mike Johnson
That's right.
Interviewer
We appreciate.
Speaker Mike Johnson
You're exactly right. And he's restoring peace through strength, and America's better for it, and so is all of the free world.
Interviewer
Well, okay, peace through strength. He learned the lesson of the last century where over 100 million people died because we didn't take action when we could have sooner on many occasions. And he also doesn't want to get into a quagmire. And that has been and will be the Trump doctrine throughout his presidency.
Ben Ferguson
That I can pretty much Speaker Johnson is absolutely right. Joe Kent. Well, he's not reading the same intel that many others have seen. And unfortunately, he wasn't on the A team. He was on the B team and he wasn't in the room for the decisions that were being made. So yeah, he's a useful idiot to our enemies and to Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens and Megyn Kelly. But the reality is the majority of Americans are trusting Donald Trump. And when he says that Iran is an imminent threat, well, the American people overwhelmingly seem to believe him.

Episode: Democrats Second‑Guess as Administration Says Iran Left No Time to Wait
Date: March 20, 2026
Host: Ben Ferguson
Notable Guests: Speaker Mike Johnson (audio clips), Intelligence Officials, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries
In this episode, Ben Ferguson examines the escalating debate over the Trump administration’s recent strikes on Iranian targets. The primary focus is the Democratic Party’s insistence that Iran was not an “imminent threat,” juxtaposed against the administration's position that decisive military action was necessary to deter Iranian aggression and protect American interests. Ferguson also addresses political infighting over classified intelligence, the resignation and investigation of a top counterterrorism official, and features strong rebuttals from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
Democratic Narrative:
Administration & Republican Response:
(06:16 - 07:04) Hakeem Jeffries Press Conference Clip
Quote:
“There is no evidence that has been presented to us that the United States was under threat of imminent attack from Iran. Zero evidence of that... So if in fact, that was the case, it's hard for the American people to understand the rationale for launching a preemptive war... that has now spread to more than half a dozen countries and resulted in the death of at least six brave, courageous, heroic service members. That's unacceptable.”
— House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (06:16)
Ferguson's Reaction:
Ferguson criticizes Democrats for using the deaths of U.S. soldiers to “push their political agenda,” and frames their concerns as process-focused rather than results-oriented.
(07:33 - 08:33) Senate Hearing Excerpt
Senate and intelligence officials are pressed repeatedly about whether there was an “imminent nuclear threat.”
Key Exchange:
“The only person who can determine what is and is not an imminent threat is the president.”
— Intelligence Official (07:55)
(08:00 - 08:38) Congressional Pushback
(09:21 - 10:09) Segment on Joe Kent
(10:09 - 11:18) Policy Defense
White House and military leadership describe Iran as a “sustained, evolving threat...for nearly half a century.”
Military objectives:
Ferguson’s Summation:
(12:48 - 14:18) Fox News Clip: Speaker Johnson
As a member of the “Gang of Eight,” Johnson asserts he had full access to all intelligence.
Quote:
“The intelligence was exquisite. It was very clear this was an imminent threat to the United States and America's interest. ... The commander in chief did exactly the right thing. We knew that those ballistic missiles ... were going to be fired at our troops and our civilians and our installations in the region. ... Joe Kent seemed to understand that until about 24 hours ago. ... He is an outlier.”
— Speaker Mike Johnson (12:50)
Johnson contrasts President Trump’s decisiveness and willingness to listen to all viewpoints with what he sees as Democratic foot-dragging and infighting.
“He's restoring peace through strength, and America's better for it, and so is all of the free world.” (14:12, Speaker Mike Johnson)
(14:36 - 15:05) Ferguson Wrap-Up
Throughout, Ben Ferguson adopts an unapologetically pro-administration, conservative tone, often disparaging Democratic critiques as politically motivated or out-of-touch with “real” intelligence and security needs. Speaker Johnson maintains a measured but firm defense of executive action, emphasizing the seriousness of the threat and the clarity of the intelligence.
For listeners who missed the episode, this summary provides key context, the main arguments from both sides, and the flavor of the program’s energetic, conservative commentary.
