Ben Ferguson
Welco. Hey guys, the 47 Morning Update, Ben Ferguson with you. And here are three big stories that you may have missed that we talked about this week. First up, there is a radical judge that was busted actually harboring people that are considered terrorists from these hardcore criminal gangs. What happened to him? We'll have that story for you in just a moment. Also, Donald Trump decided to meet with retail CEOs about tariffs and what was the takeaway. Deals are starting to get very close to getting done. And finally, Linda McMahon joins us from the Treaty Room at the White House to talk about waste at the Department of Education and working with Doge. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now.
Clay
Story number one, there's a pretty interesting.
Ben Ferguson
Trend that is happening now with the Democratic Party. They are now in love with terrorists, terrorists that are in radical gangs in this country and they're doing everything they can to protect them instead the American people. We've seen this from congressmen and senators that are running down to meet with Ms. 13 gang members held in Venezuela, for example. And now we may know a little bit more about just how corrupt the Democratic Party is, how compromised they are by these gangs that have been declared terrorist organizations. Look to the new headline. A Democratic judge in New Mexico has been forced to resign from his bench after immigration agents arrested a alleged Tren Diarago gang member living in his home. The illegal alien entered into the U S in El Paso, Texas before being released on an immigration parole due to overcrowding. He eventually moved, we've now learned, to New Mexico. Federal prosecutors in the District of New Mexico allege that the 23 year old was illegally in possession of a firearm and has direct ties to the hyper violent Venezuelan gang. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump and the U. S. State Department declared the gang to be a foreign terrorist organization. Police arrested Lopez while executing a search warrant on February 28th at the home of Donna Ana County New Mexico Magistrate Judge and his wife. The Albuquerque Journal is reporting now. The report follows a detention hearing where prosecutors claim the illegal alien is a flight risk and an alleged Trende Araga gang member. Kanu a Former police officer allowed the gang member to file a request for immigration relief using the judge's residential address. This isn't a joke. Now, that's not all. We also now in court exhibits have seen pictures that were posted on social media of the foreign national with the judge. Yes, they're good friends. Court records obtained reveal that Lopez, a Venezuelan national, entered the United States illegally in eagle pass during the peak of the biden border crisis in December of 2023. And then due to overcrowding in the eagle pass detention facility, he was released three days later. Social media posts obtained by the u. S. Attorney's office for the district of new mexico show Lopez and other illegal aliens at a shooting range. They appear to be in possession of multiple firearms at a large quantity of handguns and rifle ammunition. In one image, the man is also holding an AR15 style rifle in one hand and a semi automatic pistol in the other. A video shows the Venezuelan migrant in possession of another AR15 equipped with a suppressor. He fired the rifle until it was empty and then reloaded it with a new magazine, which he continued to fire. The prosecutor stated. Now, the photos and videos show Lopez displaying the Trinidad gang tattoos. The United States government recently declared this violent gang to be a transnational criminal organization as well. Investigators found additional firearms in a neighboring home owned by Nancy Kano's daughter. That would be the judge's daughter. Lopez was seen in possession of several of these firearms. Investigators report that the Venezuelan national moved to El paso after being released by border patrol agents. There, he roomed with five other people, Court documents state. And while living there, Lopez met Nancy kano and began doing construction and handy man jobs. Kano extended an offer for the illegal alien to live in the casita behind her home. Now, other images from Lopez's cell phone obtained by breitbart news show graphic images of multiple decapitated and mutilated bodies. Let me say that again. Other images from Lopez's phone obtained by breitbart news show graphic images of multiple decapitated and mutilated bodies. Lopez is currently in the Donna Ana county detention center where he's charged with being an illegal alien in possession of firearms. Now, it's not clear if judge Kano or his wife Nancy will be charged with harboring an illegal alien or providing material support to a female foreign terrorist organization. But if you want to know whose side the left is on. Well, just take a look at this New Mexico democratic judge. And what did it cost him when he was busted for all this? Well, he had just had to resign after ICE arrested the gang member in his home.
Clay
Next story number two.
Ben Ferguson
Monday was a very big day at the White House. Not just because it was the Easter egg roll, but Donald Trump also met with major US Retailers to discuss tariffs. This time the President sat down with major retailers including Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's and Target to discuss the broad based tariffs likely to raise the cost of everyday goods that they import. Now, big U. S chains like Walmart and Target, they rely heavily on imported goods and tariffs including the 145% levies on China are expected. They claim to add strain on Americans already burdened by prolonged inflation. That is obviously their talking point as they want everything to go back to cheap Chinese goods, regardless of what it means for American workers. Now, this meeting was important and it adds to what we have seen over the last several weeks as prominent CEOs have expressed support for President Donald Trump's economic policies, highlighting potential benefits for their industries as well in the long term. The CEO of JPMorgan Chase has acknowledged the strategic use of terrorists as economic tools, stating that if they are slightly inflammatory but beneficial for national security, then it's acceptable. The CEO of Goldman Sachs know that the business community understands the administration's engagement and appreciates the efforts to involve them in policy discussions, which is exactly why the President decided to bring in companies like Lowe's and Walmart and Home Depot and Target. The CEO of Bank of America also highlighted that favorable regulatory changes under Trump's administration could provide companies with the certainty to be more aggressive as interest rates decrease. Additionally, as you know, tech leaders like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos have showed interest in engaging with Trump's administration, drawing to his pro growth agenda and favorable economic policies such as tax cuts and major issues of deregulation. Now these developments indicate a trend among corporate leaders to align with President Trump's economic policies, focusing on potential benefits such as tax reductions, deregulation and increased capital investment. Now as for these new companies that have come to the table like Walmart and Home Depot, one of the things the President has made clear, things are going to change. It may not be what's best for your company in the short term, but it's what's best for Americans in the long term, including American workers. He's also making it clear to these companies that Liberation Day included allowing American workers to get back into manufacturing. And that's exactly what the message need to be to so many of these companies that were relying on cheap goods and cheap labor in China. Trump's tariff policies have obviously sent ripples across numerous industries around the world. And the President said that was all part of the strategy. Now U. S. Stocks are going up and down, as many are expecting, with benchmark 10 year treasury notes and the US dollar also coming under some pressure. The President made it clear this is short term for a massive shift in how this country works when it comes to importing goods from countries, especially that are adversaries to the United States of America. And having these important conversations, the White House clearly means that the conversation is moving forward and getting closer to resolution.
Clay
And here is story number three.
Ben Ferguson
What was the biggest waste of tax dollars that you've uncovered at Doge? And let's start there.
Unknown
Well, I can tell you, first of all, let me say I welcomed the Doge group that came in and has been looking at a lot of the wasteful spending that has been going on. I think one of the things that jumped out at me was that we had about $600 million that we were spending on teacher training programs. Now that's 600 million. So now that sounds, that sounds, you know, incredibly like a good amount of money to be spending or on a good thing to train our teachers. But what we really were finding was that most of the programs at that point were really focused on DEI training.
Ben Ferguson
Yeah.
Unknown
And not on what, excuse me, you would typically be looking at, you know, for teacher training. And so we took back that money and we shut down that kind of training program. So that was one that just jumped out at me.
Ben Ferguson
So is it fair to say the Department of Education and I have a sister, she's in an inner city school and she's doing the best that she can. My mom was a teacher. My aunt was a principal. Like, I come from that world. But what is sad to me is it seems like the Department of Education has basically decided we're going to indoctrinate kids instead of educate kids. And we're going to do it in a way where they're using taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate them in what we believe in instead of reading, writing and arithmetic. How far off am I on that? From a national standpoint?
Unknown
You're not far off on that at all. And what we have really seen, I mean, think about this, Ben. The Department of Education was established in 1980, and since that time, we have spent over $3 trillion in education, and our performance scores have continued to go down. And, you know, I don't say there haven't been things that have been tried. I mean, the Bush Administration tried no Child Left Behind.
Ben Ferguson
Yeah.
Unknown
Barack Obama tried Race to the Top, but we're failing in the mission of teaching our students. And I think the reason for that is we have gotten away from basics. We've gotten away from teaching reading, teaching arithmetic. And so what we're finding in schools that are showing improvement in scores is that they have returned to the science of reading, teaching phonics, teaching repetitive, you know, just memorization, like in mathematics, for your times table and things like that. And then building upon that base, you know, up through third grade, you are learning to read, and after third grade, you're reading to learn.
Ben Ferguson
Sure.
Unknown
And if you can't read, you can't. You're not going to be able to learn. So we found that a lot of the fall off, if you will, in education is because we're not teaching the basics. And so a little return to that basics is great. Now a lot of other things can be introduced that can be helpful, like AI.
Ben Ferguson
Yes.
Unknown
Because they're.
Ben Ferguson
How far behind are we in technology?
Unknown
Oh, my gosh. We're just.
Ben Ferguson
Because it seems like we're back 20 years ago and all of a sudden now are 30 years ago in technology and we're having these kids go out in the world. I laughed the other day. I was talking to a group of students and the students said that at their high school, they were still teaching them to do photography and develop film. And you're like, for what reason? That doesn't happen anymore. You're not going to use that.
Unknown
Is that going to be their major when they go off a career path that they want to be on? If it's a career path they want to be on, I'm all for that.
Ben Ferguson
Right. However, it's digital now. Pictures are digital. And they're like, the teacher's been there and said, well, this is how we've always done it. That was a response to the students. I'm like, we're paying that salary to someone who's literally saying, I refuse to move forward.
Unknown
Yeah. And I just think that just goes to the bigger problem of how I think education is not in touch with the communities. It's not in touch with the industries that we need. And that's what we need to make sure of that we are educating our students for, you know, for their. For their livelihood. What, you know, what. What does industry need? What does the community need? You'll hear most universities say that we want to make sure we can keep students in the community when we're training them. But if you don't understand what community, what industry, what business needs or what technology needs, etc. You can't construct a proper curriculum to fill that need and you'll find we won't be successful.

The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson
Episode: Judge's Shocking Ties to Violent Gang, Trump Talks to Major Retailers & DOE gets DOGE'd
Release Date: April 26, 2025
Introduction
In this episode of The 47 Morning Update, host Ben Ferguson delves into three major stories shaping the political and economic landscape of America. From shocking judicial affiliations to high-stakes meetings between the President and major retailers, and a critical examination of the Department of Education's expenditures, Ferguson provides insightful commentary and exclusive details that paint a comprehensive picture of current events.
At the forefront of this episode is a bombshell revelation about a Democratic judge in New Mexico, Judge Nancy Kano, who is compelled to resign following arrests related to harboring a member of the Tren Diarago gang—a group recently designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the Trump administration.
Key Details:
Arrest and Charges: On February 28th, immigration agents executed a search warrant at Judge Kano's residence, apprehending Lopez, a 23-year-old Venezuelan national with documented ties to the Tren Diarago gang. Lopez was found in possession of multiple firearms, including an AR-15 style rifle and semi-automatic pistols, as evidenced by social media posts and court exhibits. [04:15]
Judicial Complicity: Prosecutors allege that Lopez was granted immigration relief through Judge Kano's residential address, allowing him to live in her casita. Photos revealed Lopez frequently socializing with Judge Kano and displaying gang-related tattoos, raising serious concerns about the judge's impartiality and integrity. [06:10]
Impact on the Democratic Party: Ferguson emphasizes this incident as indicative of a troubling trend within the Democratic Party's handling of terrorist affiliations. He states, "This isn't a joke. Now, that's not all. We also now in court exhibits have seen pictures that were posted on social media of the foreign national with the judge. Yes, they're good friends." [07:05]
Government Response: Lopez remains in detention facing charges of illegal possession of firearms. The investigation is ongoing, with potential future charges pending against Judge Kano and her wife for harboring an illegal alien and possibly providing material support to a terrorist organization. [07:50]
Notable Quote: Ben Ferguson highlights the severity of the situation, stating, "And what did it cost him when he was busted for all this? Well, he had just had to resign after ICE arrested the gang member in his home." [08:10]
The second major story covers President Donald Trump's strategic meeting with leading U.S. retailers, including Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Target, to discuss the implications of broad-based tariffs on imported goods, particularly those from China.
Key Insights:
Tariff Implications: The tariffs, some reaching up to 145%, aim to reduce dependency on Chinese imports, thereby encouraging domestic manufacturing. While retailers express concerns about the immediate impact on costs and inflation, Ferguson interprets the move as a long-term strategy to bolster American industry. [09:00]
Corporate Support: Prominent CEOs from JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America have voiced their support for Trump's economic policies. For instance, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase remarked on the strategic use of tariffs as tools beneficial for national security despite being slightly inflammatory. [10:15]
Economic Strategies: The administration's engagement with major retailers is seen as a pivotal step towards achieving significant economic shifts. Cox mentions, "Trump's tariff policies have obviously sent ripples across numerous industries around the world. And the President said that was all part of the strategy." [11:30]
Market Reactions: In response to the tariffs, U.S. stocks exhibit volatility, with benchmark 10-year treasury notes and the U.S. dollar facing pressure. Despite short-term fluctuations, the administration remains committed to its strategy for reshaping import dynamics to favor American workers and manufacturing. [12:05]
Notable Quote: Ben Ferguson encapsulates the administration's vision, stating, "This is short term for a massive shift in how this country works when it comes to importing goods from countries, especially that are adversaries to the United States of America." [12:50]
In the final segment, Linda McMahon engages in a candid discussion from the Treaty Room at the White House, addressing significant wasteful expenditures within the Department of Education and the contentious focus on DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) training over fundamental educational practices.
Key Points:
Misallocation of Funds: McMahon reveals that approximately $600 million was allocated to teacher training programs primarily centered on DEI initiatives rather than enhancing core educational skills such as reading and arithmetic. This misallocation is seen as a diversion from the department's primary mission of educating students effectively. [12:14]
Educational Decline: Highlighting a $3 trillion investment since the department's establishment in 1980, McMahon points out declining performance scores. She critiques past administrations' educational reforms, like Bush's "No Child Left Behind" and Obama's "Race to the Top," for failing to prioritize essential academic skills. [13:03]
Call for a Return to Basics: McMahon advocates for a renewed focus on foundational education, emphasizing the importance of teaching reading and mathematics effectively. "If you can't read, you're not going to be able to learn," she asserts, underscoring the necessity of mastering basic skills before advancing to more complex subjects. [14:38]
Technological Lag: Addressing the outdated technological curriculum, McMahon illustrates the disconnect between current educational practices and the needs of modern industries. She cites anecdotal evidence of high schools teaching obsolete skills like film photography, which do not align with today's digital demands. [15:25]
Community and Industry Alignment: McMahon stresses the importance of aligning educational curricula with community and industry needs to ensure students are adequately prepared for the workforce. Without this alignment, educational institutions risk producing graduates who are ill-equipped for contemporary career paths. [16:00]
Notable Quote: Reflecting on the state of education, Ben Ferguson remarks, "It seems like we're back 20 years ago and all of a sudden now are 30 years ago in technology and we're having these kids go out in the world." [14:55]
Conclusion
Ben Ferguson wraps up the episode by reinforcing the significance of these stories in understanding the current socio-political and economic climate. From judicial corruption and strategic economic policies to critical evaluations of educational expenditures, the episode provides listeners with a nuanced perspective on issues affecting America today.
Final Thoughts: Ferguson encourages listeners to stay informed and ahead by subscribing to The 47 Morning Update, ensuring they receive daily updates and in-depth analysis on the pressing issues of the day.
