It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one President Trump campaigned on getting education education back to the states and back to the local municipalities and most importantly, giving the power back to the parents to get their kids the best education possible. He also said he was going to shut down the Department of education. Linda McMahon had the job of doing exactly that, but the left decided to step in with injunctions to stop her from doing that job. Well, now the Supreme Court has come down with their ruling. It was a 6:3 ruling lifting a lower court injunction that had blocked the administration from laying off about 1,400 employees, nearly 1 third of the Department of Education workforce. This ruling temporarily greenlights Donald Trump's March executive order, directing the Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, to take all necessary steps to close the department to the fullest extent possible via administrative action. Now six conservative justices allowed the layoffs to proceed while litigation continues in the lower courts. Justice Sotomayor joined Elena Kagan and Jackson, dissenting strongly warning that these decisions enable executive lawlessness, as they described it, and erodes the separation of powers by allowing a de facto dismantling of a congressional agency via unilateral staffing cuts. Yes, the left is all in to try to stop Donald Trump from getting kids a better education. Now the high court paused this preliminary injunction that went into effect by the US District Judge, a judge who was a Biden appointee in Boston that ordered the employees be reinstated. Quote, the United States Supreme Court has handed a major victory to parents and students across the country by declaring the Trump administration may proceed on returning the functions of the Department of Education back to the states, is what Donald Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. He went on to say, now with this great Supreme Court decision, our Secretary of education, Linda McMahon may begin the very important process saying the federal government has been running our education system into the ground, but we are going to turn it all around by giving the power back to the people. Trump went on to say america's students will be the best, be the brightest and be the most highly educated anywhere in the world. Thank you to the United States Supreme Court. Now The Supreme Court 6of3 ruling came in that dispute that began shortly after the education department on March 11 announced a reduction of force involving 1,378 employees. McMahon said in a news release that the staff reductions reflected the Department of Education's commitment to efficiency, accountability and ensuring that resources are directed where they matter most to the students, to the parents and to the teachers. Trump issued that executive order nine days later that instructed McMahon to take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of education. And on March 21, he announced that the programs for students with special needs and the federal student loan portfolio would be transferred from the Department of Education to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Small Business Administration, respectively. That is when a group of 20 states and the District of Columbia, two public school districts and teachers unions filed a federal lawsuit in Massachusetts arguing the staff reductions violated the Constitution and the federal laws governing administrative agencies yet again putting the teachers union ahead of the parents and most importantly, the students. Now Secretary of Education McMahon put this out on X saying, quote, today the Supreme Court again confirmed the obvious President of the United States of America, as the head of the Executive branch, has the ultimate authority to make decisions about staffing levels, administrative organization and day to day operations of federal agencies. While today's ruling is a significant win for students and families, it is a shame that the highest court in the land had to step in to allow President Trump to advance the reforms Americans elected him to deliver using the authorities granted to him by our US Constitution. She went on to say the US Department of Education will now deliver on its mandate to restore excellence in American education. We will carry out the reduction of force to promote efficiency and accountability and to ensure resources are directed where they matter most to students, parents and teachers. As we return education to the states, this administration will continue to perform all statutory duties while empowering families and teachers by reducing education bureaucracy yet again. The President, United States of America not backing down and making sure that American students have a chance to succeed instead of being in a total failing system with a federal government that has done anything but give them a great education. Next story number two. It is a very important piece of legislation that very well could become an executive order and finally be done in the US Something that's already been done around the world. Texas GOP Center Ted Cruz is set to introduce a bill that would formally designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. The Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation act of 2025, which follows repeated attempts to name the group a terrorist organization. Now, it differs from previous versions as it calls for a bottom up approach. And according to a fact sheet provided by Senator Cruz's office, the previous attempts failed because, quote, not all Muslim Brotherhood branches are currently violent and wouldn't therefore meet the criteria for designation. Now let's be clear about what other countries are doing. Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates already designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. The bill urges Secretary of State Marco Rubio to catalog Muslim Brotherhood branches that are designated as terrorist groups and designate additional ones that meet relevant criteria and mandates the designation of the global Muslim Brotherhood for its support for those terrorist groups. That approach actually mirrors what President Donald Trump did in 2017 in his effort to sanction Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard, known as the irgc, an effort that designated the IRGC as a foreign terrorist group. Cruz's effort is openly supported by GOP centers from Arkansas, Tom Cotton, for example, and Rick Scott in Florida, as well as Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania. Arab allies also appear ready to back the initiative, with one official telling the Free Beacon in June that any of the countries in the Middle east that have already designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization would welcome the United States doing the same thing. Now, Cruz's bill would use three ways to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Congressional action under the 1987 Anti Terrorism act, the State Department recognizing the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization and specific designation as a specially designated global terrorist group. This is just some of what they're now looking at. Now the Secretary of State Marco Rubio would have 90 days after the bill passes to Submit a report to Congress cataloging all Muslim Brotherhood branches around the globe. The legislation would instruct him to designate any identified group that meets the criteria. The bill then authorizes a formal designation for the Muslim Brotherhood's global operation under the 1987 ATA, creating a primary embargo under which Americans are banned from engaging in financial transactions with the group and rendering its services. In April, Jordan, the country banned the Muslim Brotherhood from the country altogether according to their charter. The terrorist group Hamas is a wing of the Muslim Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood assassinated Egyptian President anwar Sadat in 1981 for making peace, by the way, with Israel. The Muslim Brotherhood's goal is clear to turn the world into a theocratic empire. Stand with us has also said the Muslim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt in 1928, is a revolutionary fundamentalist movement. To restore the caliphate and strict Sharia. Islamic law is something that they demand. I want you to hear more directly from what Senator Cruz had to say about this legislation and also the fact that this could become an executive order.
Ted Cruz
The Muslim Brotherhood is a global Islamist violent organization. It was founded in 1928 in Egypt. It was a fringe group for the first few decades, and then it grew dramatically inside of Egypt and then it spread beyond. The Muslim Brotherhood has branches in countries and territories all over the world. And. And they are openly committed to seizing control of countries and seizing control of those territories. They explicitly intend to use violent jihad to overthrow non Islamist governments. During the Obama administration, they did. They seized control of Egypt. Muhammad Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood seized control until they were ultimately overthrown by the Egyptian army. By the way, when. When the Muslim Brotherhood took over Egypt, the Obama administration cheered them on. And how do we know that the Muslim Brotherhood supports terrorism? Because several of their branches are explicit terrorist organizations. Among those is Hamas, which everyone listening to this podcast knows about. Hamas, yeah. Hamas is one of the wings of the Muslim Brotherhood. They also include other groups that. That folks may not have heard about, like Hassam and Liwa Al Thara, both of which the State Department says have been associated with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. And they are branches that have already been formally designated as terrorist groups. Other Brotherhood branches are committing terrorism right now, but they haven't yet been formally designated. Just a few weeks ago, the Jordanian government disrupted attacks being planned by Brotherhood members and police raided the Islamic Action Front, which is the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood branch. I think it would make a very good sense for us to vote on it on the Senate floor for Joe John Thune to bring it up and make senators vote most of The Democrats are going to vote no. I think it'd be valuable to get them on record, force them to vote. But I'll tell you what I think the real path to success will be is that we're going to lead the fight in the Senate. I hope we tee this up for a vote. And if the Democrats block it, which in all likelihood they will, they have for a decade. What I think is going to happen is I think the president is going to do this through an executive order. And I'm certainly urging President Trump to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization through an executive order. And I think the fight that I'm leading in the Senate helps build momentum for the president to step in and make this designation. I think it's gonna happen. I think we're see it happen this term.
Ben Ferguson
There's no doubt the Muslim Brotherhood is a global terrorist organization. In fact, they have chapters in 80 different countries. And if you want to know what the Brotherhood thinks about America, they want America to fall. In 2010. Their supreme guide told their followers to, quote, be patient, because America is heading towards its demise. Make no doubt about it, it's long overdue for us to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. And hopefully it's something the president will be doing very soon. And finally, story number three. President Donald Trump made it very clear when he was running for president, if you vote for him, he's going to secure the southern border and also have the largest deportation this country has ever seen of illegal immigrants. The president holding true to that promise, regardless of how much the media attacks him. Which brings us to the big story about Alligator Alcatraz. It is simply the Everglades Detention Center. It's located at the Dave Collier Airport in the Florida Everglades, and the facility has actually been nicknamed Alligator Alcatraz. And that's where the media lost their minds. Now, it began operations on July 3rd. It's intended to hold up to 5,000 immigration detainees. As of today, lawmakers and the press have visited under tight restrictions. Democrat officials infuriated, describing it as, quote, vile, horrible, inciting, overcrowded cages, lack of sanitation, extreme heat, worm infested food, flooding toilets, and restricted legal access. The reality, that's all a lie. The Trump administration, Republican officials have defended it, saying it meets standards and it serves as a deterrent. And plans exist to replicate this model in other states, doubling down now, it's currently a flashpoint in the immigration debate, praised by many, like myself, who support the president, saying this is a fact effective in condemning illegal immigration. Even as Democrats, quote, unquote, call it inhumane. Well, the president of the United States of America making it clear, sending out Tom Homan to do TV to talk about immigration and also Alligator Alcatraz. And he set the record straight with Dana Bash on cnn. Take a listen.
Tom Homan
I do want to turn to what is going on in Florida. And that is what the administration, what you call Allig Alcatraz was visited by Democratic members of Congress yesterday. They were given limited access. And this, of course, was is a new detention facility set up by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. What these Congress people described was sweltering heat, bug infestations, meager meals. They say they heard detainees crying out for help. The wife of one man detained there said he's not been given access to a lawyer. He's been in detention for about two weeks. Is that acceptable to you? And is that what you're seeing when you go?
Unnamed Speaker
I have not been there yet. And I doubt a lot of that's factual. I mean, bottom line is, you know, from the day one, I've been doing this job since 1984. Detainees complain about the conditions of detention. And I said this many times. You can Simply go to ice.gov and look at the detention standards ICE has. They have the highest detention standards in the industry. But these same congressmen are complaining about Alligator Alcatraz. You didn't see them complaining about under the Biden administration, people being held in a Border Patrol parking lot, surrounded by a fence in the sweltering heat. Not a word. You didn't hear a word about half a million children being trafficked in the country and them not being able to locate 300,000. President Trump, this administration is finding thousands of those children. So, you know, they have a lot of anger under President Trump and how we're doing business. And they ignored four years of open borders. Historic migrant death, historic Americans dying from fentanyl, historic numbers of women and children being sex trafficked, historic number of people on terrorist watch list coming across the border. Silence. Silence because they're complicit, because they didn't take the administration on and ask them to secure the border. You can't have strong national security in this country if you don't have border security. We got to know who's coming and what's coming and where it's coming from. But instead, they kept silent and they kept feeding the American people. We have a secure border and we did not. There are consequences of breaking laws. And I think that's why one of the reasons we have the most secure border in history of this nation today. It's just not because we got boots on the ground on the border, not because we end in catch or leaves a lot of its consequences. You're watching what's happening. We're enforcing the immigration law. And I think that consequence has a lot to do with having the most secure border in the history of this nation.
Ben Ferguson

The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson: Episode Summary
Release Date: July 19, 2025
Host: Ben Ferguson
Produced by: Premiere Networks
In the latest episode of The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson, host Ben Ferguson delves into three pivotal stories shaping the political and social landscape of America. From the Supreme Court's recent decision impacting the Department of Education to the GOP's strategic moves against the Muslim Brotherhood, and finally, the contentious developments surrounding Florida's immigration detention facility, affectionately dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz." This comprehensive summary captures the essence of the discussions, enriched with notable quotes and timestamps for clarity.
Overview:
Ben Ferguson opens the episode by addressing a significant Supreme Court decision that supports former President Donald Trump's initiative to dissolve the Department of Education. This move aims to decentralize educational governance, returning control to states and local municipalities, thereby empowering parents to make better educational choices for their children.
Key Points:
Supreme Court Ruling:
At [04:45], Ben Ferguson highlights the 6-3 Supreme Court decision that lifts a lower court injunction. This injunction had previously blocked the administration from laying off approximately 1,400 employees, representing nearly one-third of the Department of Education's workforce.
Ben Ferguson [04:45]: "The United States Supreme Court has handed a major victory to parents and students across the country by declaring the Trump administration may proceed on returning the functions of the Department of Education back to the states."
Administration's Objective:
The Trump administration's executive order seeks to close the Department of Education through administrative actions. This includes transferring specific programs to other federal agencies, such as moving special needs programs to the Department of Health and Human Services and the federal student loan portfolio to the Small Business Administration.
Legal and Political Backdrop:
Ben notes [05:15] that the lawsuit against the Department's staff reductions was filed by a coalition of 20 states, the District of Columbia, public school districts, and teachers unions. They argued that these reductions violated constitutional and administrative laws, prioritizing teachers' unions over parents and students.
Secretary of Education Linda McMahon's Statement:
McMahon emphasized the administration's commitment to "efficiency, accountability," and redirecting resources "where they matter most" ([06:40]).
Linda McMahon [06:40]: "We will carry out the reduction of force to promote efficiency and accountability and to ensure resources are directed where they matter most to students, parents, and teachers."
Supreme Court Justices' Stance:
The decision saw six conservative justices in favor, while Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson dissented. The dissent criticized the ruling as enabling "executive lawlessness" and undermining the separation of powers ([05:50]).
President Trump's Reaction:
Trump lauded the decision on his social media platform, Truth Social, asserting that the Department of Education had been detrimental to the nation's educational system and expressing optimism about the reforms to come ([07:00]).
Donald Trump [07:00]: "With this great Supreme Court decision, our Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, may begin the very important process of saying the federal government has been running our education system into the ground, but we are going to turn it all around by giving the power back to the people."
Insights:
Ben Ferguson underscores the Supreme Court's pivotal role in advancing Trump's educational reforms, framing it as a triumph for parental control and state empowerment. The episode emphasizes the ongoing legal battles and the broader ideological clash between federal oversight and localized education management.
Overview:
The second major segment focuses on the GOP-led legislative efforts to formally designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization in the United States. Spearheaded by Texas GOP Center and Senator Ted Cruz, this initiative seeks to align U.S. policy with several other nations that have already labeled the group as such.
Key Points:
Legislative Proposal:
Senator Ted Cruz is set to introduce the "Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025," aiming to categorize the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization under the 1987 Anti-Terrorism Act ([08:30]).
Rationale Behind the Designation:
Ben Ferguson [12:00] explains that previous attempts failed due to the group's varied branches, some of which were non-violent. The new bill proposes a "bottom-up approach" to accurately identify and designate the relevant factions.
Ben Ferguson [12:00]: "The bill urges Secretary of State Marco Rubio to catalog Muslim Brotherhood branches that are designated as terrorist groups and designate additional ones that meet relevant criteria."
International Context:
Countries such as Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates have already designated the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization ([09:15]).
Ben Ferguson [09:15]: "Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates already designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization."
Historical Actions and Evidence of Terrorism:
The Muslim Brotherhood's violent history includes the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981 and their association with Hamas, a widely recognized terrorist group ([10:00]).
Ben Ferguson [10:00]: "The Muslim Brotherhood assassinated Egyptian President Anwar Sadat in 1981 for making peace with Israel."
Senator Ted Cruz's Remarks:
At [13:23], Ted Cruz elaborates on the global threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood, highlighting their intentions to establish a theocratic empire and their involvement in violent jihad.
Ted Cruz [13:23]: "The Muslim Brotherhood is a global Islamist violent organization. It was founded in 1928 in Egypt... They explicitly intend to use violent jihad to overthrow non-Islamist governments."
Legislative Strategy and Challenges:
Cruz anticipates significant opposition from Democrats, expecting them to block the bill in the Senate ([14:10]). As a result, he suggests that President Trump might bypass Congress by issuing an executive order to designate the organization as a terrorist group ([14:50]).
Ted Cruz [14:10]: "What I think is going to happen is the president is going to do this through an executive order... I think we're seeing it happen this term."
Broader Implications:
Designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization would impose strict financial and operational restrictions, including banning financial transactions and services with the group ([11:40]).
Insights:
The episode sheds light on the GOP's strategic legislative maneuvers to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist entity, aligning U.S. policy with international standards. Ben Ferguson underscores the collaborative support from other GOP leaders and Arab allies, signaling a concerted effort to counteract global Islamist threats. The discussion also touches upon the interplay between legislative processes and executive actions in achieving policy goals.
Overview:
The final segment addresses the controversy surrounding Florida's new immigration detention center, colloquially known as "Alligator Alcatraz." While Democrats and critics have portrayed the facility as deplorable, Republican officials and supporters argue that these claims are exaggerated and politically motivated.
Key Points:
Facility Details:
Ben Ferguson [16:00] describes "Alligator Alcatraz" as the Everglades Detention Center located at Dave Collier Airport in the Florida Everglades. Operational since July 3rd, it houses up to 5,000 immigration detainees.
Democratic Criticism:
Critics, including visiting lawmakers and members of the press, have labeled the facility as "vile" and "horrible," citing overcrowded cages, lack of sanitation, extreme heat, worm-infested food, and restricted legal access ([17:00]).
Democrat Official [17:00]: "It's hateful, horrible, with inciting overcrowded cages and lack of sanitation."
Republican Defense:
In response, Republican officials claim that the negative reports are unfounded. They assert that the detention facility meets all required standards and serves as an effective deterrent against illegal immigration ([17:30]).
Unnamed Republican Speaker [17:30]: "From day one, detainees complain about conditions, but if you check ICE standards, they have the highest detention standards in the industry."
Tom Homan's Clarification:
At [18:17], Tom Homan addresses allegations made by Democratic members of Congress regarding the conditions at Alligator Alcatraz.
Tom Homan [18:59]: "You can simply go to ice.gov and look at the detention standards. They have the highest detention standards in the industry."
Counterarguments:
Homan further criticizes Democrats for not addressing issues under the previous administration, such as migrants being held in substandard conditions like Border Patrol parking lots and the trafficking of women and children ([19:10]).
Tom Homan [19:10]: "They kept silent and they kept feeding the American people. We have a secure border and we did not."
Impact on Immigration Debate:
The facility has become a flashpoint in the ongoing immigration debate, symbolizing the stark divisions between Republican enforcement measures and Democratic humanitarian concerns. Ben Ferguson emphasizes the administration's commitment to fulfilling Trump's promises of securing the border and deterring illegal immigration ([20:00]).
Ben Ferguson [20:00]: "Having the most secure border in the history of this nation. Exactly what President Donald Trump promised."
Insights:
Ben Ferguson presents a narrative that counters Democratic criticisms by highlighting Republican assurances of high standards and effective deterrence. Through Tom Homan’s assertions, the episode underscores the partisan divide in interpreting and responding to immigration enforcement facilities. The discussion frames Alligator Alcatraz as a testament to the administration's dedication to border security, amidst media and political opposition.
In this episode of The 47 Morning Update, Ben Ferguson effectively navigates through three significant and contentious topics:
Supreme Court's Support for Education Reforms: Highlighting a major legal victory for Trump's administration in dismantling the Department of Education, fostering a shift towards state-controlled educational systems.
Legislative Efforts Against the Muslim Brotherhood: Detailing the GOP's strategic moves, led by Senator Ted Cruz, to officially label the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, aiming to enhance national security.
Controversy Surrounding Alligator Alcatraz: Presenting the Republican defense of Florida's immigration detention facility amidst Democratic criticisms, emphasizing the broader debate on immigration enforcement.
Throughout the episode, Ferguson incorporates direct quotes and timestamps, providing listeners with a clear and comprehensive understanding of each issue. By structuring the summary into distinct sections, the episode remains accessible and informative for both regular listeners and newcomers alike.
Notable Quotes:
Ben Ferguson [04:45]: "The United States Supreme Court has handed a major victory to parents and students across the country by declaring the Trump administration may proceed on returning the functions of the Department of Education back to the states."
