How did Ella bake her way to the top? It all started with one smart decision. She test drove a certified used truck from her local Ford dealer. It was inspected, backed by a Ford warranty and fit her budget. A Carfax report was the cherry on top. Soon a pinch of confidence became a truckload of ambition. Cupcakes became customers. Customers became regulars.

Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the golden age of America. We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplished in four years or eight years. And we are just getting started. You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson. Good Thursday morning. It is Ben Ferguson with you. It's the 47 Morning Update. And here are the big stories we're covering today. First up, it was a grand slam for the president, United States of America, with a joint address to Congress. How do we know that? Well, a new CBS poll says that 76% approved of Donald Trump's address. I'll break down the poll numbers for you in much more detail in just a moment. Plus, Democrats didn't learn a darn thing from election night, and they certainly didn't learn anything in the address to Congress as anarchy set in among the Democratic Party. So when you look at the polls, are they going to change the way they're doing things? Apparently not. And we have a big showdown over censoring one of those Democrats in the House of Representatives. And finally, it's a really important subject. It is the tariffs on China, on Canada, and on Mexico. So what is this really all about? I'm going to give you exclusive details from the White House on exactly what they want you to know. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now. Here is story number one. After you do a State of the Union, the question is, did it land with the American people? Well, boy, did it ever. CBS poll has come out and said that 76% approved of President Trump's address to Congress. I cannot tell you how massive that actually is. The majority of Americans overwhelmingly supporting Donald Trump's decisions. And viewers who watched it said, yes, we approve of what Donald Trump had to say in his speech, which was the longest day of the union ever to that joint session of Congress Tuesday night. Now, Trump boasted about the many accomplishments since being inaugurated January 20th and exclaimed, we are just getting started. Do The American people believe and support what the president was saying. Saying, Yes, a whopping 76% of those watching said they approved of Trump's first, second term speech to Congress. And this is again coming from CBS News. Now, one of the X factors of this is also just how negative and honestly psycho the Democrats look. They wouldn't even stand and clap when someone gets into West Point who had lost a loved one. They wouldn't stand and clap for a, a young boy who was made a Secret Service agent. They wouldn't clap when we talked about bringing actual terrorists that had killed Americans at Abu Gate to justice in the United States of America. And I'm going to have more on that list in a moment. But that may be why the President landed the speech so well, is because the American people could see just how much the Democratic Party hates basic things that all Americans should be in favor of. It shouldn't be a partisan issue if you have a president saying, we're bringing terrorists to justice. It shouldn't be a partisan issue to stand for a young boy who is fighting for his life with cancer and surviving and then being made a, you know, a Secret Service agent. This is one of those moments that everyone should clap for. And yet the Democrats refuse to stand. So let's get to the poll numbers and really break this down. Not only did 91% say that Donald Trump spent time on issues they cared about, meaning that is a speech that later. Look, I've gotten to help on a couple of different State of the Union addresses. And if you walked into the presidency, Mr. President, we just wrote you a speech that 91% of the country is going to connect with and say that you, you, you talked about an issue they cared about. Let me just tell you, you would be a God in the political speechwriting world. Okay, I, I've never seen a speech, to my knowledge, that rated afterwards at 91%. That is the Holy Grail, where 91% of the people watching said, hey, you talked about something that I genuinely cared about. Now, that is unbelievable on its face. But then you go back to the other question. Okay. Was the speech something you watched for a long period of time? That simply comes down to an issue of entertainment. Are you engaged? Is the president speaking to you, or is he talking about things that you don't care about? Well, 91% said the president spent time on issues they cared about. And then 74% said the address was presidential and also informative and entertaining. A total of 71% after that said the speech was inspiring. To them. Now let's go back to speechwriting here and say the unions, when you're writing a speech like this, if you could walk into any president, say, hey, I'm going to give you a speech that 91% are going to say connected with them In a way, 74% said that you, your address was, quote, presidential. And then 71%, Mr. President, said the speech was inspiring to them. That, that is, these are numbers that I, I would literally argue are, are virtually unobtainable. Now, these numbers I just gave you all came from CBS News. So they had to have been on suicide watch after they had to report this as a news organization because this is not what they were hoping to tell you. Next story number two, if you thought the Democrats were going anything from Donald Trump's speech or how America reacted to it with the incredible poll numbers, well, you'd be wrong because they are all now saying that they didn't do enough to disrupt the President of the United States of America. Even ABC News's Sunny Hoston said all the Democrats should have walked out during Donald Trump's address. That on the View, saying the Democratic lawmakers should have, I guess, in essence said, we're standing with you to the one man that actually was booted from the night, Sonny Hosin said, you know, while I didn't watch it, I was looking for signs of an opposition party, which is what the Democratic Party must be at this point, not a resistance, because resistance is passive, opposition is active. I think that is what I saw when Representative Al Green stood up and said, quote, you don't have a mandate to take away Medicaid. And he was tossed out. I expected the rest of his Democratic caucus, his colleagues, to walk out with him because alone you can survive, but together you thrive. She went on to say later in the program that, quote, that is the energy that we need. They should have stood with him in solidarity. We had Jean Pierre here on this show yesterday and she said, we have to have a sense of urgency as we move forward and we cannot do it the way we have in the past. This is not normal. It is a five alarm fire. And what I want to say to the Democrats is you can't play by the rules with a party that has thrown away the rule book. You cannot do it. Now. This is coming from the same people that tried to put Donald Trump in prison and anyone else around him. They're the ones that advocated for the raid of Mar A Lago. They're the ones that said that the people around January 6th were the same as terrorists that attacked this country on 9 11, you know, Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda. These are also the same people that are now actively advocating for anarchy, or another word, Democrats obsessed over insurrectionists. Now it seems that the Democratic Party is calling for exactly that, anarchy and insurrection, but not from people outside the Capitol. They're literally advocating for it by the people that have been elected inside of our government. You may have also seen during Donald Trump's joint address to Congress, the purple haired congresswoman who went viral Tuesday night for scowling throughout the entirety of President Donald Trump's address to Congress. Well, she decided it was not enough just to scowl at the President all night. She even put out a special video on X saying this.
Unnamed Democratic Congresswoman
I was really stunned that the election was fought over the cost of living and people, families who live paycheck to paycheck, concerned about whether or not they were going to be able to pay their bills, be able to pay for the health care, in some cases even putting food on the table. And the address tonight didn't address any of those issues about cost of living and the fact that people live paycheck to paycheck. And what we ought to be doing in the Congress is to make sure that we are helping people to secure an economic future for themselves and their families.
Ben Ferguson
By the way, let's just hit pause there and go, what do the CBS poll numbers actually did tell us about the speech? The people watching the speech definitely believe that the President was actually talking about those things. In fact, when asked whether the president had a clear plan to battle inflation in the speech, 68% said yes and it was a plan that they could get behind. So what is she actually complaining about? She's complaining about the fact that the Democratic Party lost the last election. And that is when she tells you the truth about how much she hates Donald Trump. Keep listening.
Unnamed Democratic Congresswoman
I found the speech to be vengeful, revengeful. And instead of being lifting the hopes and the aspirations of people of the United States of how we move forward as a great nation, that we are what the vision for our future was, it devolved into just vindictiveness and self adulation on behalf of Donald Trump. It did not address the issue of unchecked billionaires like his friend Ally and Elon Musk. It was not a speech befitting a great world leader or a great president of the United States.
Ben Ferguson
So there you have it. They're angry about Elon Musk cutting their waste, their fraud and their abuse. They're also angry at Elon Musk for apparently being wealthy, but they have no problem with George Soros or any of the other billionaires on the left that have been financing this type of, quote, anarchy and revengeful vengefulness, to quote her. So at the end of the day, if you thought Democrats were going to learn from their mistakes, apparently they're not at all. And that may actually be a good thing for Donald Trump and his agenda. And finally, story number three. It's very important that you understand what's going on with Donald Trump using tariffs to protect American lives. There's a lot of misinformation out there about the president and the tariffs that have just gone into effect. And I want you to understand why. First off, the president is actually doing this. You may not know, but President Joe Biden did very little on fighting to protect Americans from fentanyl. Fentanyl smugglers killed roughly 300,000Americans during his time in office. That is exactly why President Trump has quickly imposed painful tariffs on countries that are helping those smugglers that killed, again, 300,000Americans. During the Biden administration, quote, I determined that the failure of the government of the People's Republic of China to act to blunt the sustained influx of synthetic opioids, including fentanyl, flowing from the Chinese Republic to the United States constituted an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy and economy of the United States of America. That is what Donald Trump declared in his March 3rd order. He also went on to say this in recognition of the fact that China has not taken adequate steps to alleviate the illicit drug crisis. Section 2A of Executive Order 14195 is hereby amended by striking the words 10% and inserting in lieu thereof the words 20%. The order is titled Further Amendment to Duties Addressing the Synthetic Opioid Supply Chain in the People's Republic of China. Now, this isn't the only place we're having problems when it comes to Americans dying because of the drugs that are pouring across the open borders. Trump also posted trade penalties against Mexico and Canada, where criminal gangs are producing more drugs for export to the United States. Now, the vast death toll from fentanyl, much of which is manufactured in Mexico from chemicals that were directly produced in China, is described in multiple government reports. This is something the Biden administration knew and they didn't care that 300 plus thousand Americans were ODing. Yet Biden's countermeasures were, by the way, all tactical when he did act like he was acting. And he put little or no pressure on Mexico and China to stop the killing of Americans. In part, Biden's deputies, including border chief Mayorkas, they prioritize trade deals with China and migration deals with Mexico over American lives. Let me give you an example. In 2022, Biden's deputies stayed mute when Texas Governor Greg Abbott uses power over cross border inspections to force modest concessions from four Mexican regional governments. Unsurprisingly, Trump's efforts are being opposed by pro illegal immigrant advocates who do not want to recognize the huge death toll to American citizens. For example, Aaron Boyd at the Washington Post wrote this President Donald Trump's long promised tariffs on goods from Canada and Mexico are due to go into effect Tuesday. This despite fears that the taxes on imports could cripple the economies of our two neighboring allies and negatively impact the U S economy as well by exacerbating inflation. You notice they don't care about American families being ripped apart by these synthetic drugs, the New York Times wrote. For American families, the likely result is higher prices nearly everywhere they turn. Trying to fear monger you that the grocery prices are more important than your children's lives. They also went on to talk about car dealerships and electronic stores and iPhones and what you're going to pay at the pump. The Wall Street Journal even ignored the narcotics trade as it slammed Donald Trump's tariffs. Good news is Donald Trump wasted no time responding to the Wall Street Journal criticism saying this, quote, the tariff lobby headed by the globalists and always wrong Wall Street Journal is working hard to justify countries like Canada, Mexico, China and too many others to name continue the decades long rip off of America both with regard to trade, crime and poisonous drugs that are allowed to so freely flow into America. China, by the way, is also rejecting Trump's focus on fentanyl, saying oh, it's not a big deal, calm down. The President, United States of America, however, is saying yes, this is a battle worth fighting. Why? Because it's already cost the lives of more than 300,000Americans and that clearly is something he's willing to fight for. Thank you for listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson. Ben Ferguson opens the discussion by highlighting the overwhelming positive reception of President Trump's SOTU address. Citing a recent CBS poll, Ferguson reveals that 76% of Americans approved of Trump's speech delivered to Congress.
