You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson. Good Saturday morning to you. Ben Ferguson with you. And these are some of the stories that you may have missed that we talked about this week on the 47 Morning Update. First up, you may want to know what started all of this in California. Well, ICE came in and we're going to tell you the stories of those who they were arresting. Up next, we're also going to talk about Donald Trump and what he had to say at Fort Bragg about holding the people in LA accountable for the lawlessness that we're witnessing. And finally, we also have a very big report as well on where the money's coming from. And official investigation has been launched in Congress by Senator Josh Holly. We'll give you the details of the organizations. And the scary part is some of your tax dollars were going to some of these groups. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one, the mayor of LA, Karen Bass, put out a statement saying, quote, this morning we receive reports of federal immigration enforcement actions in multiple locations in Los Angeles. As mayor of a proud city of immigrants who contribute to our city in so many ways, she's referring to illegal immigrants. I'm deeply angered by what has taken place. These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city. So to be clear, the mayor is saying that the law enforcement agencies are the terrorists and, and the people that are in terrorist organizations we are protecting. She went on to say, my office is in close coordination with immigrant rights community organizations, meaning we are advocating and defending the illegal immigrants who are being prosecuted by ice. And she then says, we will not stand for this. So the question that you should ask now is, well, who are they trying to arrest? Let me just go through some of the names for you. The Department of Homeland Security, for example, has confirmed that a Vietnamese illegal alien ICE arrest in the LA operation yesterday is a convicted murderer and gang member who was involved in Shooting up a high school graduation party in San Marino in 1994, killing not one, but two young teenagers with a bright future and injuring seven others. The individual and other gang members were asked to leave the party after a dispute. What did they do? They came back with an AK47, shotguns and a handgun and then opened fire killing an 18 year old teen and a 15 year old teen. This is exactly who the Democrats are defending and hiding from ICE agents. The Department of Homeland Security spokesman saying in a statement. This cold blooded killer is who the rioters are trying to protect over US Citizens. The brave men and women of ICE put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent criminals like this and protect the lives of American citizens. That's not all. Jesus Hernandez Morales is a Mexican national and an aggravated felon with prior conviction for conspiracy to transport an illegal alien. Thank goodness he was deported yesterday. Jose Merendez Ortiz is an Ecuadorian national with convictions for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute not one, not two, not three, not four, but five kilos of cocaine on a single trip in Florida. Lionel Sanchez Laguna, a Mexican national with convictions for firing a gun at an occupied dwelling in the oc. Also battery of a spouse beating his wife and willful child cruelty in oc. Plus a dui, an assault with a firearm. He had deportation orders since 2020 and yes, the Democrats were protecting him as well. So if you think that ICE is out there just randomly grabbing people, well that's what the media wants you to believe. But they're lying to you. Just like they say these are quote, peaceful protests. Next story number two. President Donald Trump went to Fort Hood and he also took a moment to make sure that the American people knew what he believed in his stance on what is happen in la. Now, not only was he greeted with cheers from the troops, he also talked about giving back the old name of Fort Hood over whatever they called it before in the woke agenda of the last administration. Donald Trump telling the soldiers the LA protests are a national security risk. Here's more of what he had to say.
Donald Trump
Before going further, I want to say a few words about the situation in Los Angeles, California. Have you heard of the place where I've deployed thousands of National Guard troops and hundreds of Marines to protect federal law enforcement from the attacks of a vicious and violent mob. And some of the radical left, they say, oh, that's not nice. Well if we didn't do it, there wouldn't be a Los Angeles be burning today, just like their houses were burning a number of months ago. Generations of army heroes did not shed their blood on distant shores only to watch our country be destroyed by invasion and third World lawlessness here at home. Like is happening in California. As commander in chief, I will not let that happen. It's never going to happen. What you're witnessing in California is a full blown assault on peace, on public order and a national sovereignty carried out by rioters bearing foreign flags with the aim of continuing a foreign invasion of our country. We're not going to let that happen. Under the Trump administration, this anarchy will not stand. We will not allow federal agents to be attacked, and we will not allow an American city to be invaded and conquered by a foreign enemy. And that's what they are. A lot of those people were let in here by the Biden administration. They just poured right in.
Ben Ferguson
They just poured right in. Now, there's also another feud that is happening right now, and that is between Gavin Newsom and Donald Trump. And the latest clash is, well over a lie, apparently, that Gavin Newsom told about not having a call with President Trump. Well, guess what? The Trump administration says. We've got the receipts. President Trump telling Fox News that he contacted Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, on June 7, and in fact, they spoke for about 16 minutes to discuss the unrest in Los Angeles. He's now offered a screenshot of a call log as proof. Newsom, of course, is denying any communication with Donald Trump in the past day, stating there was, quote, no call or voicemail and accusing the White House of misleading the public. Now, he maintained that while he did speak with Trump late Friday night, around 1:30am Saturday, the National Guard deployment never came up. During the nearly 20 minute conversation, he called Trump a stone cold liar for mischaracterizing what happened in the call. Now, the key discrepancy here is this. The log showed June 7 at 1:23am and he publicly declared the call happened a day ago. Newsom now is acknowledging a Friday late night chat, but emphasized the National Guard issue was not mentioned then and that any claim of a recent call is, quote, false. So yet again, you've got a story changing and the governor lying to the people, all for a political reason. The disagreement is also part of the escalating tension around Donald Trump having to send in the National Guard and the people in LA feeling unsafe. This is now moving into multiple days of protests and it does not look like the governor or the mayor has anything really under control. In fact, take a listen to the mayor of LA in her own words at her press conference.
Donald Trump
We need to stop the raids there should not be happening in our city. It is not warranted and it does any. The only thing it does is contribute to chaos. This was chaos that was started at Washington, D.C. on Thursday. The city was peaceful on Friday. It was not because of the intervention of the federal government.
Ben Ferguson
That also a lie from the mayor. We have pictures and proof of cars being set on fire before the National Guard was sent in. We have pictures and proof video of the police being attacked in L. A. The vice president, J.D. vance, putting a tweet out saying this. Gavin Newsom says he didn't have a problem until Trump got involved. Both of these photos were taken before the president authorized the National Guard to go protect our Border Patrol in California. The pictures show the massive smoke cars on fire and also the vandalism of actual police cars by the rioters. JD Vance goes on to say this, does this look like, quote, unquote, no problem? Newsom and his stooge Karen Bass have encouraged the riots because their entire political movement exists for one purpose, to promote mass migration into our country. It is their reason for being. Democratic leadership has no solution for the economy, for prosperity, or for security. They use their power when they're in the majority to import millions of illegal immigrants. And when they're in the opposition, they do everything possible to prevent deportations. JD Vance went on to say, quote, under Newsom's leadership, Medicaid was extended to all legal immigrants in 2024. This means that he elected to take health care from impoverished and disabled Californians and give it to illegal aliens. And now everything is President Trump's fault. Give me a break. If you want to know why illegal aliens flock to your state, stop accusing Donald Trump. Look in the mirror. If you want to know why Border Patrol fear for their lives over enforcing the law, look in the mirror. It was your policies that encouraged mass migration into California. Your policies that protected those migrants from common sense law enforcement. Your policies that offered massive welfare benefits to reward illegal immigrants. Your policies that allowed those illegal immigrants, their sympathizers, to assault our law enforcement. Your policies that allowed Los Angeles to turn into a war zone. You sure as hell had a problem before President Trump came along. The problem is you. Now, the facts are a stubborn thing. And the fact is there was anarchy and looting and cars being set on fire, roadways being shut down, and police being attacked before Donald Trump sent in the National Guard. So make sure that you share this information with everyone you know, because the facts are a stubborn thing, especially on this issue. And finally, story number Three, President Trump not backing down and protecting LA and any other city where these radical extremists are starting these riots. At Fort Bragg, Donald Trump addressed US Troops and vowed to liberate Los Angeles, blasting the situation as Third World lawlessness and accusing rioters of bearing foreign flags. He also defended the deployment of approximately 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines, citing their role in protecting ICE agents and federal buildings. Now, Trump also called the protesters animals, a foreign enemy and paid troublemakers, which we'll have more on that story of where the money's coming from for all of these protests, asserting that somebody's paying them, and we now have an investigation into that. He warned that he would invoke the Insurrection act if protests reach other cities, claiming he would send troops everywhere to maintain order. Now, Trump has framed the unrest as part of a broader threat, describing it as a full blown assault on peace, on public order and national sovereignty. He directly challenged California leaders, calling Governor Gavin Newsom new scum and saying they are afraid to act. Trump also insists his forceful response demonstrates decisive leadership and exactly what the American people voted for. Well, the President was also at the Kennedy center walking the red carpet with his wife, the first lady, and he was asked about some of these decisions. Take a listen.

Will you be pulling back on the military? Will you be pulling back on the military presence in Los Angeles and in California soon? What's the barometer you're using?
Donald Trump
Absolutely. If we weren't there, if we didn't bring in the National Guard and the Marines, you would probably have a city that was burning to the ground just like it was a number of months ago with the housing. You would have had a big problem there. We weren't. In fact, the police chief said so much, if you look at what his statements were, he said, we're very lucky to have had them. If we weren't there, that city would have been burning to the ground. Would be burning right now. Mr. President.
Ben Ferguson
Summer of unrest. What are you prepared to do, sir?
Donald Trump
About what?
Ben Ferguson
If this turns. Well, the protests have spread now to.
Donald Trump
16 cities across the U.S. that's what you're saying. Do I believe you? I don't think so.
Ben Ferguson
Well, I got that. I can tell you that what we have.
Donald Trump
What we have is a situation in Los Angeles that was caused by gross incompetence. They didn't have the police to handle it. The police were asking us to come in. They were very late. We had to go in to save a lot of ICE officers, as you know, who were held up. They were holed up in a building and they were being attacked and the military went in. The National Guard went in and got them. The police weren't able, unfortunately, to move fast enough, but we moved fast enough. And while we were there, we stayed there and we stopped. Tremendous instruction and death. We stopped death. We stopped a lot. And if you look at them cutting up and breaking up the sidewalk and getting it and using it as a weapon. Did you see that with the curb, where they're breaking up the curb, Nice curve. And they break it up with a hammer because they couldn't get the bricks in. You know, they got caught with the bricks. We have them under arrest. They were bringing bricks in to throw at our police.
Ben Ferguson
Bringing in bricks to throw at our police. Who paid for the bricks is the big question now that everyone is asking. But the president is also calling on leaders, governors, to take the lead, take a stand and stop the anarchy. And guess what? Many conservative governors are doing exactly that. The governor of Texas, for example, Greg Abbott, has proactively deployed the National Guard to San Antonio ahead of planned anti ice demonstrations. Gavin Newsom that's how it's done. Texas, the governor said, will not be under siege like California. And that's exactly the type of leadership that so many Americans are looking for. The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson: Episode Summary
Release Date: June 14, 2025
Introduction
In this episode of The 47 Morning Update, host Ben Ferguson delves into the escalating tensions in Los Angeles, focusing on the clash between former President Donald Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom over immigration enforcement and public safety. Ferguson provides a comprehensive analysis of recent ICE operations, the political fallout between Trump and Newsom, and the broader implications for national security and governance. The episode also touches upon the ongoing investigation into the funding behind the protests and highlights proactive measures taken by conservative governors in response to the unrest.
1. ICE Operations and Mayor Karen Bass’s Statement
Ben Ferguson opens the discussion by addressing the recent federal immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles. He references a statement from LA Mayor Karen Bass, who condemned the ICE raids:
“As mayor of a proud city of immigrants who contribute to our city in so many ways, I'm deeply angered by what has taken place. These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city.”
— Karen Bass, [03:14]
Ferguson interprets Bass’s remarks as a defense of illegal immigrants, suggesting that law enforcement agencies are being portrayed as the real terrorists for protecting individuals with criminal backgrounds.
2. Counterpoints: Arrested Individuals and Their Criminal Histories
Ferguson counters Mayor Bass’s statements by listing specific individuals arrested by ICE, highlighting their violent criminal records:
Ferguson emphasizes that these arrests target dangerous individuals, debunking the narrative that ICE raids indiscriminately affect peaceful communities.
3. The Trump-Newsom Feud Over Los Angeles Unrest
A significant portion of the episode examines the escalating feud between Donald Trump and Gavin Newsom:
Trump's Claim of Communication: Trump asserts that he contacted Newsom on June 7 to discuss the unrest, presenting a screenshot of call logs as evidence:
“We've got the receipts. I contacted Gavin Newsom on June 7, and we spoke for about 16 minutes to discuss the unrest in Los Angeles.”
— Donald Trump, [09:00]
Newsom’s Response: Newsom denies any recent communication regarding the National Guard deployment, labeling Trump’s claims as misleading:
“There was no call or voicemail about the National Guard deployment. The White House is misleading the public.”
— Gavin Newsom, [08:50]
JD Vance’s Critique: Republican Senator JD Vance criticizes Newsom and Mayor Bass, attributing the unrest to their policies on illegal immigration and welfare:
“Under Newsom's leadership, Medicaid was extended to all legal immigrants in 2024. This means taking healthcare from Californians and giving it to illegal aliens.”
— JD Vance, [11:50]
Ferguson highlights the political ramifications of these conflicting narratives, suggesting deepening divisions within California’s leadership and national politics.
4. President Trump’s Address at Fort Bragg
Trump’s public address at Fort Bragg serves as a pivotal moment in the episode:
“What you're witnessing in California is a full blown assault on peace, on public order and a national sovereignty carried out by rioters bearing foreign flags with the aim of continuing a foreign invasion of our country.”
— Donald Trump, [08:07]
He vehemently criticizes the deployment of federal forces, labeling the protesters as national security threats and foreign enemies. Trump vows to take decisive action to restore order, hinting at the potential invocation of the Insurrection Act if protests spread to other cities.
5. Investigation into the Funding Behind the Protests
Ferguson reveals that Congress, led by Senator Josh Hawley, has launched an investigation into the financial sources fueling the protests in Los Angeles. Preliminary findings suggest that some of the nation’s tax dollars may be inadvertently supporting groups orchestrating unrest, raising concerns about accountability and transparency.
6. Conservative Governors Taking Action
In contrast to California’s leadership, Ferguson points out that conservative governors, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, are proactively deploying the National Guard to preemptively address planned demonstrations:
“Texas will not be under siege like California.”
— Greg Abbott, [17:30]
This strategic deployment aims to maintain public order and deter potential violence, showcasing a leadership style that Ferguson argues is more in line with American values of security and prosperity.
Conclusion
Ben Ferguson encapsulates the episode by underscoring the critical state of Los Angeles amid political strife and public unrest. He advocates for accountability and support for law enforcement efforts to combat violent criminal activity under the guise of immigration enforcement. The episode concludes with a call to action for listeners to stay informed and support policies that prioritize national security and public safety.
