Good Monday morning. So nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two major stories for you. First up, in a big announcement, there is an official meeting between the US President Donald Trump and Russia President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. In fact, it's the first time we've hosted a leader from Russia in the United States of America since 1988. And the president, his goal is simple, to get a peace deal done. I'll give you the latest details on this meeting in just a moment. Also, at the FBI, they're cleaning house. And we're now finding out much more about just how corrupt the deep state has actually been. We're going to break down what's happening now and hear from Miranda Devine about what this means for the future at the FBI.

Story number one, it is official Donald.
Ben Ferguson
Trump has announced a major meeting with Vladimir Putin. It's a high stakes meeting over the Ukraine war and is certainly one that will be a big part of his legacy. Even Russians are now cheering Vladimir Putin's invitation to Alaska. And there does seem to be real optimism as NATO's security general says they are optimistic about Trump meeting with Putin as well. Zelensky also getting in on the action saying, quote, we will not let Russia deceive the U.S. now, President Trump announced this via his platform Truth Social that he's going to meet with Vladimir Putin on Friday, Aug. 15 in Alaska, marking the first face to face summit between the two since 2019 and the first such US hosted summit of a leader from Russia since 1988. The purpose, very simple. The summit aims to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. And Trump even hinted the deal could involve some swapping of territories, quote, unquote. Now the meeting follows a deadline Trump set around Aug. 8 for Putin to agree to a ceasefire or face major secondary sanctions, though no concrete ceasefire agreement was reached by then. The Ukrainian position is this. President Zelensky firmly declaring that Ukraine will not cede any territory. He emphasized that any peace deal must include Ukraine and be just and lasting. Now Europe is also getting in on this action. Leaders from the EU, including France, Germany, the U.K. italy, Poland, Finland and the European Commission demanded that Ukrainians must be part of the negotiations and fiercely opposed any forced territorial changes when it comes to Ukraine. Then there's the diplomatic pressure that is coming in. NATO security general said Trump will be testing Putin in the meeting, a crucial gauge of Putin's seriousness towards the issue of peace. So far, he has not really been in favor of peace at all, and that's part of why this meeting is so vitally important. There is even the prospecting, certainly in the media, for the inclusion of Zelensky. While the meeting is currently bilateral, the White House says they have not ruled out a trilateral summit including Zelensky. However, as of now, there has been no formal invitation that has been extended to Zelensky. And you may ask yourself the question why? My White House insiders are telling me they believe that it's time for Donald Trump to be in the room with Putin to see where they are and if they are even close to a real possibility of peace. Before you bring Zelensky into the room, there's also things that need to be said between the President, United States of America and Vladimir Putin on what ramifications there will be on Russia if they do not come to the table and actually advocate for peace. Which brings me back to Zelensky. Zelinsky sang on Sunday that his country will not let Russia deceive the US as this meeting between the two looms, saying, quote, of course our team is working with the United States. Not a single day goes by without communication on how to ensure real peace. We understand Russia's intention to try to deceive America. We will not allow this. Zelensky went on to say, quote, I greatly value the determination with which President Trump is committed to bringing an end to the killing in this war that coming from his official office. Now. In his first few months back in office, Trump and his administration have pushed for an end to the war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Vladimir Putin seemed not interested in that at all. Then Trump said last week he's going to meet with Putin in Alaska and hosting him for the talks and also letting him know what the real landscape looks like moving forward. The highly anticipated meeting between myself and President of the United States of America and President Vladimir Putin of Russia will take place next Friday in the great state of Alaska. Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Trump said in the Truth Social platform In the Sunday address, Zelensky also said that each day many people are giving their lives, but the sole root cause of these killings is Putin's desire to wage war and manipulate everyone he comes in contact with. Zelensky adding, we in Ukraine know Russia well and that is why in extremely difficult circumstances, Ukrainians have endured more than three years of full scale war we will certainly defend our state and our independence. I thank everyone who is helping. Which brings us back to the legacy aspect of this meeting. There's no doubt this will be a big part of Donald Trump's legacy. And the question is, does he have enough leverage over Vladimir Putin to get this deal done? Because it's very clear that Vladimir Putin's not coming in looking for peace. Well, we know how successful the president has been in the past at getting other countries to do deals together. And there's a very good chance that the man who is the master of the art of the deal, hopefully we'll be able to save lives and get this deal done.

Now story number two, Cash Patel seems.
Ben Ferguson
To be cleaning house at the FBI. Yes, that's exactly what is happening now is Patel has decided it is time to make sure he has good people working there. Miranda Devine went on Maria Bartiromo show on Fox News Sunday and had this to say about what's going on at the FBI. You also hear some audio from Dan Bongino and Cash Patel in an earlier interview they did at the very beginning. I want you to listen carefully to what they're saying about what we're doing now to get to the bottom of something like January 6th and the pipe bomber case, for example, you need three things. You need people, you need information, and you need people with information. I'll allow the public to put that together and just wait and you'll see. Nothing we're doing, nothing is by accident. Dan and I have already told the FBI every employee that acted appropriately, we are going to defend you to the Hill literally, no matter the consequences.
Host 1
And that was FBI Director Cash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino with me in my exclusive on the FBI back in May earlier this year. As more heads rolled at the FBI this past week, former FBI Acting Director Brian Driscoll and Special Agent Walter Giardina were forced out, among others. Forced out. Driscoll oversaw the Jan. 6 investigation while Giardina worked on cases against President Trump and Peter Navarro, the trade executive in the White House who was ultimately convicted and sent to prison. Joining me now with more on all of this is New York Post columnist and FOX News contributor Miranda Devine. Miranda, great to see you. Literally, it's been a decade of scandals led by the Democrats. But first, get your I want to get your take on these FBI changes. First they promoted Driscoll and then they asked him to leave.
Miranda Devine
Yes. And also Stephen Jensen and Walter Giardina. And these people were all involved in the politicization of the FBI under Joe Biden and Christopher Wray, attacking and persecuting Trump allies and people who had worked for Trump, including the Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon being jailed for contempt of Nancy Pelosi, effectively, and the January 6th defendants. Stephen Jensen was in charge of the most overzealous prosecution, persecution, investigation of these Trump allies. And so I think it was long overdue, really. I was surprised that they lasted as long as they did, but I think it's great that finally Kash Patel has cleaned house and I assume and your interview with Patel and Dan Bongino is the only record of this, but that they there was method in the madness, that there was a reason to keep them close for the first six months and now to remove them summarily.
Host 1
Miranda, what's your take on what we're seeing? Are we finally seeing some signals of some accountability? We've been waiting for accountability, from the Russia collusion nonsense to the impeachments of Trump, the laptop from hell. How do you see things now?
Miranda Devine
That's a really good question, Maria. And I think we're seeing really positive signs. There just seems to be a systematic, very orderly procession of, you know, investigations and subpoenas and grand juries. We saw on Friday that Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, who prosecuted Trump every which way she could find, as well as the notorious Adam Schiff, who of course was, you know, now is a senator, but then was a congressman who led a lot of the Russia hoax nonsense back in Trump's first term and is really somebody like Letitia James, who continues to mouth the refrain, no one is above the law. Well, they found out that they're not above the law because Pam Bondi, the attorney general, appointed on Thursday night Ed Martin, as the special attorney to investigate these two. He can bring up grand juries wherever he likes, and he's done. So grand juries are looking at Adam Schiff and Letitia James in Maryland and in Virginia on allegations of mortgage fraud, also bank fraud and wire fraud. And these charges, if convicted on them, they would serve up to 30 years in jail. So it's a serious accountability.
Ben Ferguson
A serious accountability. That is all that we're asking for here, is that you take a look at all of this and you say, were there actual laws that were broken? That is what Miranda Devine is saying is a real possibility, that there are real laws that were broken, real corruption that we can clearly see. And because there is real corruption, there are real laws that may have been broken. There should be accountability. This is all that the President, United States of America has been asking for, which is, hey, FBI, do your job. Take a look at all of these things, see what happened, and if there is something there, hold those accountable for their actions. Now you look at the weaponization of our government, the weaponization of our deep state. You look at how it was weaponized to take out political opponents. You look at Letitia James, you look at those in around Biden, you look at so many that were just involved in incredible levels of corruption and they all thought they could get away with it because no one would ever come knocking. Remember, they were the ones that were knocking on the doors, raiding people's homes, even going into the President of the United States of America's house. Never, ever forget that.

In this episode of The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson, host Ben Ferguson delves into two pivotal stories shaping the current political landscape in the United States:
Ferguson provides in-depth analysis, expert opinions, and exclusive insights, ensuring listeners are informed about significant developments that may impact America's future.
Key Announcement: President Donald Trump has scheduled a high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, August 15. This marks the first time a Russian leader has been hosted by the United States since 1988 and the first face-to-face summit between Trump and Putin since 2019.
Objective of the Summit: The primary goal of the meeting is to negotiate an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine. President Trump aims to secure a peace deal, potentially involving territorial negotiations, despite the complex geopolitical tensions surrounding the conflict.
Global Reactions:
Ukrainian Position: President Zelensky emphasized that any peace agreement must be "just and lasting," with Ukraine retaining its territorial integrity. He highlighted the ongoing sacrifices of the Ukrainian people and reaffirmed the nation's resolve to defend its sovereignty.
European Union's Stance: Leaders from France, Germany, the U.K., Italy, Poland, Finland, and the European Commission have collectively demanded Ukraine's inclusion in the negotiations. They vehemently oppose any forced territorial changes that undermine Ukraine's sovereignty.
Diplomatic Dynamics:
Legacy Implications: This summit is poised to be a defining moment in Trump's presidency. The success of these talks could significantly influence his legacy, especially regarding his efforts to secure peace in Ukraine. The critical question remains whether Trump possesses sufficient leverage to convince Putin to pursue a genuine peace agreement.
Notable Quotes:
FBI Leadership Shake-Up: Under the leadership of Director Cash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, the FBI is undertaking significant internal reforms aimed at eliminating corruption within the bureau. Recent weeks have seen the ousting of high-profile figures such as former Acting Director Brian Driscoll and Special Agent Walter Giardina.
Miranda Devine's Analysis: New York Post columnist and Fox News contributor Miranda Devine voiced her support for the FBI's actions on [11:16], stating:
"These people were all involved in the politicization of the FBI under Joe Biden and Christopher Wray, attacking and persecuting Trump allies and people who had worked for Trump, including Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon being jailed for contempt of Nancy Pelosi, effectively, and the January 6th defendants."
Key Points Discussed:
Expanding Legal Actions:
Ben Ferguson's Perspective ([14:15]): Ferguson emphasized the importance of accountability, remarking:
"This is all that we're asking for here, is that you take a look at all of this and you say, were there actual laws that were broken? That is what Miranda Devine is saying is a real possibility, that there are real laws that were broken, real corruption that we can clearly see."
He further criticized the previous administration's perceived misuse of federal powers, citing instances like the raids on the President's residence and the targeting of political opponents.
Miranda Devine on Accountability ([12:43]): Miranda asserted that the current changes signify a broader movement towards legal accountability:
"We're seeing really positive signs... grand juries are looking at Adam Schiff and Letitia James in Maryland and in Virginia on allegations of mortgage fraud, also bank fraud and wire fraud."
Implications for the Future: The FBI's current trajectory under Patel and Bongino suggests a potential dismantling of entrenched partisan biases. By targeting high-profile figures and enforcing accountability, the bureau aims to restore public trust and ensure impartial law enforcement.
In this episode, Ben Ferguson provides listeners with comprehensive coverage of two major developments: President Trump's strategic engagement with Vladimir Putin in a historic Alaska summit aimed at fostering peace in Ukraine, and the FBI's significant internal reforms targeting deep state corruption. Through expert interviews and incisive commentary, Ferguson underscores the importance of these events in shaping the nation's political and security landscape.
Listeners are encouraged to stay informed and engage with Ferguson's analytical insights to understand the evolving dynamics of American politics and governance.
