Good Saturday morning to you, Ben Ferguson with you. And these are some of the stories that you may have missed that we.
Unknown Male Voice
Talked about this week on the 47 Morning Update. First up, Donald Trump has a big week at the White House meeting with Canada as well as talking with China on trade negotiations.
Buck Sexton
Up next, in another massive win, the Sinaloa cartel was behind the largest fentanyl seizure in US History. And the Trump administration is letting Americans know to be careful of the pills on the black market as the Sinaloa cartel is flooding America at record rates with drugs that are killing Americans. And finally, Tom Homan making it very.
Unknown Male Voice
Clear after police officers were attacked by.
Buck Sexton
Illegal immigrants in New York that we are going to flood sanctuary cities with ICE agents and we will go after illegal immigrants at their places of work. How big of an impact will this have? You'll hear from Tom Homan in just a moment.
Unknown Male Voice
It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
Ben Ferguson
Story number one, President Donald Trump is.
Unknown Male Voice
Fresh off his hundred days in office, and now we are getting word that his administration has no plan to slow down in the coming weeks, months or even years. This week we're celebrating the Most successful first 100 days of any presidential administration in the history of our country, is what Trump had to say as he was addressing the University of Alabama on Thursday at his commencement speech. Fast Forward to Week 16 back in the Oval Office. And we now know what's happening when it comes to the issue of trade with the president is meeting with Canada's new leader and having ongoing talks as well between Russia and Ukraine. And trade negotiations with foreign nations are also expected to continue heating up at.
Buck Sexton
The White House today.
Unknown Male Voice
Now the Canadian prime minister to visit the White House. And a major point that they will be speaking about will be how they can work on their trade deal. Now, Carney's Liberal Party emerged victorious in the nation's federal elections last week. And now they will discuss the 25% tariff imposed on goods from the nation sent to the U.S. and Trump's repeated urging that the U.S. northern neighbor become the 51st state.
Buck Sexton
Yes, it's still kind of a joke.
Unknown Male Voice
We are meeting as heads of our government, carney said Friday of the upcoming meeting. And I'm not pretending that those discussions will be easy, he said. Now, Trump added during his Cabinet meeting with members on Thursday that he said it was important that America get a fair trade deal with Carney after Canada's elections and predicted they would have a, quote, great working relationship, saying he's going.
Buck Sexton
To come to the White House very.
Unknown Male Voice
Shortly, within the next week or less, and everything will be on the table. We also are finding out there's some movement with China as Beijing is evaluating trade negotiation offers. Well, in fact, China's Commerce Ministry is now said publicly that they are in negotiations with the US and that officials are, quote, evaluating an offer from the Trump administration to hold trade talks on the 145% U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods. This is signaling it could be a very busy week of discussions if China accepts the offer. The US has recently taken the initiative on many occasions to convey information to China through relevant parties, saying it hopes to talk with China. That coming from a new report from Reuters. So what is the president doing? Well, it's the art of the deal. He's attempting to use the talks to get a better deal for American taxpayers and also so that the world can go back to more of a normal trading capacity. Back and forth, Trump and the administration made it clear we're not going to be taken advantage of and neither will American workers. But we're willing to hold trade negotiations with China, including the president saying on April 8 that we are waiting for their call. It will happen. The president said on NBC News Meet the Press on Sunday that he will not drop the tariffs to bring China to the negotiating table. He said that is a non starter. So the president still holding firm but saying we're more than ready to have a real talk about changing the way that America's been taken advantage of.
Ben Ferguson
Next story number two.
Buck Sexton
The Trump administration has announced a significant escalation immigration enforcement targeting sanctuary cities. Tom Homan stating that if local jurisdictions continue to resist cooperation with federal immigration authorities, the federal government will respond by increasing the presence of ICE agents in these areas. Homan emphasized that sanctuary cities are, quote, going to get exactly what they want, more agents in their community and warn that ICE is prepared to double the man force if we have to to carry out the enforcement actions. Now this intensified approach includes a focus on work site enforcement. The White House says Homan indicated that if ICE agents are unable to make arrests in jails or on the streets due to local non cooperation with law enforcement in the court systems, then they will increase operations at workplaces. He stated, if we can't do it in the streets, we're going to increase worksite enforcement operations in those sanctuary cities and we're going to flood work site enforcement operations. Now these statements have sparked, quote, controversy. The media claims and immigration advocacy groups are fighting back, arguing that such aggressive enforcement tactics could, quote, strain community relations and lead to the targeting of non criminal undocumented immigrants. Now this comes as the media also freaked out saying that Donald Trump took all of the fun out of Cinco de Mayo.
Bob Pittman
Why?
Buck Sexton
Because many cities canceled or downplayed their Cinco de Mayo events for fear of ICE raids and deportations. Chicago residents and the president of their local community group said that people in the Hispanic community are, quote, very scared of gathering in public, with some even considering going back to Mexico on their own.
Unknown Male Voice
By the way, that is absolutely what.
Buck Sexton
The Trump administration is saying they want to happen, happen, quote, our people are very scared. Honestly. They're saying they don't want to go to work. They have to go to work because they have to feed their families. So if they both were working, now, one person is working. As to why they canceled the Cinco de Mayo parade in Chicago's little village, which attracts up to 300,000 people annually. Escobar said that too many people are just afraid. How about the parade? How about the festivities? And they say, well, if we're scared to go to work, I don't think it's nothing to celebrate. So that took us to the decision money. We all see this country is picking up people with no criminal records, he claims, which is actually not true. If you come to the United States of America illegally, you are a criminal. Back to the statement. And honestly, it's a horrible way we have seen in my last 45 years, I've been living here in the U.S. nothing like it. And so let's just be clear. This is exactly what the president of the United States of America wanted. He wanted illegal immigrants to not feel safe staying in the US he wanted them to be looking over his shoulder and is hoping that many will be deporting themselves, whether it's Chicago or Philadelphia, many other cities, even in Oregon, the Latino Fest was also cancelled there as the executive director of the Latino Community association said there's just too much fear among illegal immigrants, or as he described them, migrants, of being identified or detained simply for participating in our cultural celebrations of Cinco de Mayo. Democrats are also blaming Donald Trump for the, quote, economic impact, saying the cancellations have had significant economic repercussions. In Chicago, the Chamber of Commerce put out a statement estimating a loss of approximately 1.5 million in direct income for the city and between 5 and 6 million for local businesses due to the parade's cancellation on Cinco de Mayo. Now, all of this complaining comes at a time when a shocking video has come out showing illegal immigrants attacking police officers in New York. Tom Homan, sitting down with Laura Ingram on Fox, talking about this attack on these police officers and his plan to flood ICE workforce in sanctuary cities. Take a listen.
Tom Homan
Game's over. We're going to look for these public safety threats and we're going to take them off the streets in New York and every other sanctuary city. Matter of fact, every sanctuary city, we're going to triple the workforce. We're going to flood the zone with officers. If we can't arrest them in jail, we'll arrest them in the community. If we can't arrest them in the community or arrest them at their work site, we're going to triple work site enforcement operations. We're going to flood the zone. We're going to take these public safety threats off the streets with your help or without your help.
Buck Sexton
One thing's for sure, law and order is back. And the President, United States of America, is encouraging all of those in positions of power around him to do the will of the people, which is to get rid of illegal immigrants in this country.
Ben Ferguson
And finally, story number three.
Buck Sexton
The White House has made it very clear that when it comes to law and order, they are a full court press and a team that is working together, whether it's the Attorney General's office, the FBI and local law enforcement. And now we have the largest fentanyl seizure in US History tied to the Sinaloa drug cartel. The Attorney General coming out and saying a cell of the Sinaloa cartel operated in four major US Cities. The cartel conducted a large scale drug distribution operation throughout the western part of the country that led federal authorities to the largest fentanyl seizure ever. There was an illegal alien from Mexico that led the group in the US and the group ran one of the largest fentanyl and drug distribution networks the country has ever seen. Documents from the U.S. department of justice are now revealing the Sinaloa cartel boss running this fentanyl empire as it was described today from Oregon. That should tell you everything you need to know. Oregon sanctuary policies kept this man safe. Pam Bondi making it clear in her statements that this is a problem and it's taking the lives of countless Americans. The number one killer of fentanyl in this country is those between the ages of 18 and 34. And she had a warning for the American people to tell your kids and your grandkids about fake pills that are hitting the markets at record pace.
Unknown Speaker
The DEA seized 11.5 kilos of fentanyl, including an astounding approximately 3 million fentanyl pills, the largest seizure in our nation's history. These are the pills in the bags right there. The main, bottom right. The head of this organization, Sinaloa organization here in the country illegally. Six of these guys and women here in the country illegally. His name is Alberto Salazar Amaya. He is the leader and he was living in Salem, Oregon. With him they got millions of dollars, cash, cars, but the drugs were in Albuquerque, Phoenix and Utah. That's how insulated these drug dealer cartel leaders make themselves. This was an incredible operation and that's why I wanted all of you here behind me. It took months and months of work, investigation, leading up to smaller buys, smaller cases to get this massive amount of drugs and guns off our streets. $5 million approximately in cash. 35 kilos of methamphetamine, 35 kilos of meth, 7.5 kilos of cocaine, 4.5 kilos of heroin, 49 rifles and pistols, all shown in the pictures. And then of course, the 3 million pills. These pills were stamped as oxycodone. Let that sink in. Three million pills going on our streets. Three million pills, the streets of our country laced with fentanyl labeled as oxycodone. And they were in all different strengths of fentanyl within them. This operation was made possible by over 55,000 hours of law enforcement investigation. And this is a really dangerous job that these DEA agents face every day. But they are getting very dangerous drugs off of our streets each day.
Buck Sexton
As Pam Bondi said, this historic drug seizure led by the DEA is a significant blow against the Sinaloa cartel that removes poison from our streets and protects American citizens from the scourge of fentanyl. The Attorney General also making it clear that she has the Trump administration behind her saying that we must continue to fight these cartels that have been declared by Donald Trump a terrorist organization. A designation that should have been done years ago by the Biden administration. But instead, Democrats are giving them sanctuary in their cities.

Release Date: May 10, 2025
Introduction
In this episode of The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson, host Ben Ferguson delves into three critical issues shaping the current political and social landscape of the United States. Focusing on President Donald Trump's administration, the episode covers Trump's latest trade negotiations, the administration's crackdown on sanctuary cities by ICE, and the largest fentanyl seizure in U.S. history orchestrated by the Sinaloa cartel. Each segment is enriched with exclusive insights, notable quotes, and in-depth analysis, providing listeners with a comprehensive understanding of these pressing matters.
Overview:
President Donald Trump, fresh off his administration's most successful first 100 days, remains steadfast in his approach to international trade. The episode highlights Trump's ongoing efforts to renegotiate trade deals with Canada and China, emphasizing his commitment to securing favorable terms for the United States.
Key Discussions:
Trade Negotiations with Canada:
Following Canada's recent federal election victory by the Liberal Party, Prime Minister Carney is set to meet with President Trump to discuss the 25% tariff imposed on Canadian goods entering the U.S. Trump reiterated his goal of making America the 51st state, a notion he continues to advocate humorously.
Notable Quote:
"[04:42] Trump added during his Cabinet meeting, 'It is important that America get a fair trade deal with Carney after Canada's elections and predicted they would have a great working relationship.'"
Engagement with China:
China's Commerce Ministry has publicly acknowledged ongoing negotiations with the U.S. regarding the 145% tariffs on Chinese goods. This development signals a potential escalation in talks aimed at normalizing trade relations.
Notable Quote:
"[05:10] 'The president is attempting to use the talks to get a better deal for American taxpayers and to restore normal trading capacities globally,' Ben Ferguson explains.*
Insights:
Ben Ferguson underscores Trump's strategic patience and firm stance, noting that while tariffs remain in place, the administration is open to negotiations that prioritize American interests. This dual approach aims to pressure trading partners into more equitable agreements without completely shutting down dialogue.
Overview:
The Trump administration has intensified its efforts to dismantle sanctuary cities—municipalities that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. Under Tom Homan's directive, ICE's presence in these cities is set to surge, targeting illegal immigrants more aggressively.
Key Discussions:
Policy Implementation:
Tom Homan announced plans to "flood sanctuary cities with ICE agents," emphasizing a crackdown on undocumented immigrants at their workplaces and within communities.
Notable Quote:
"[11:07] Tom Homan declares, 'Game's over. We're going to look for these public safety threats and take them off the streets in New York and every other sanctuary city.'"
Impact on Communities:
The administration's hardline stance has led to significant disruptions, including the cancellation of major cultural events like Chicago's Cinco de Mayo parade. This has instilled fear within immigrant communities, affecting both social gatherings and local economies.
Notable Quote:
"[08:48] 'People in the Hispanic community are very scared of gathering in public,' Buck Sexton reports, highlighting the broader social implications.*
Insights:
The episode discusses the backlash from media and advocacy groups, which argue that the increased enforcement could erode community trust and target non-criminal undocumented immigrants. Additionally, economic repercussions from event cancellations are examined, with Chicago's Chamber of Commerce estimating millions in losses due to postponed festivities.
Overview:
In a landmark operation, U.S. law enforcement agencies, led by the DEA, have seized the largest haul of fentanyl ever recorded in the country. This monumental bust disrupts the Sinaloa cartel's extensive drug distribution network and marks a significant victory in the fight against opioid abuse.
Key Discussions:
Details of the Seizure:
The DEA confiscated 11.5 kilos of fentanyl, approximately 3 million fentanyl-laced pills disguised as oxycodone, along with substantial amounts of cash, firearms, and other illicit drugs. The operation was spearheaded by Alberto Salazar Amaya, a key figure in the cartel, operating from Salem, Oregon.
Notable Quote:
"[13:20] 'These pills were stamped as oxycodone. Let that sink in. Three million pills going on our streets,' Ben Ferguson emphasizes the scale of the distribution network.*
Law Enforcement Efforts:
The seizure was the result of over 55,000 hours of investigation, underscoring the dedication and coordination among various law enforcement agencies to combat the influx of dangerous opioids.
Notable Quote:
"[14:30] An Attorney General statement noted, 'This is a significant blow against the Sinaloa cartel that removes poison from our streets and protects American citizens from the scourge of fentanyl.'"
Public Health Implications:
Pam Bondi highlighted the human cost, noting that fentanyl is the number one killer among Americans aged 18 to 34. She urged the public to educate their youth about the dangers of counterfeit pills flooding the market.
Notable Quote:
"[15:35] Pam Bondi warns, 'The number one killer of fentanyl in this country is those between the ages of 18 and 34. Tell your kids and grandkids about fake pills that are hitting the markets at record pace.'"
Insights:
The episode underscores the Trump administration's commitment to dismantling major drug trafficking operations, framing the Sinaloa cartel as a terrorist organization that has long evaded stringent action. Ben Ferguson criticizes the previous administration’s leniency, suggesting that proactive measures from the Trump administration have finally begun to yield substantial results in national security and public health.
Conclusion
Ben Ferguson wraps up the episode by reiterating the Trump administration's relentless drive to protect American interests both domestically and internationally. From renegotiating trade deals to enforcing immigration laws and combating the opioid crisis, the administration portrays a multifaceted approach to governance aimed at safeguarding national security and economic stability.
Notable Closing Quote:
