You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
Good Wednesday morning, Ben Ferguson with you. And here are the big stories that we're covering this Morning on the 47 Morning Update. First up, Donald Trump shocks the world by announcing at the wide house that the US Will take over Gaza. We will own it and make it the Riviera of the Mid East. I'll have the details on this for you in just a moment. Also, one of the reasons why I love doing this show, we get to give you news that's going to happen. And I've been told that Donald Trump is going to sign an executive order banning trans athletes from women's sports. One of his promises to protect women in sports on the campaign trail is going to becoming a reality quite possibly today. And finally, Zelensky now is, I guess becoming a whistleblower now claiming that less than half the money that the US has sent has ever actually showed up. It's the 47 morning update and it starts right now. It may go down in history as the biggest announcement that Donald Trump has ever, ever made that the US Will take over Gaza and we will own it, becoming the Riviera of the Mid East. The world's people, the president declaring, will live there. Now, to be clear, this wasn't an off the cuff remark. These remarks made by President Trump were made in prepared remarks that he was reading from. This meaning it was very obvious this was a well thought out plan kept secret by the Trump administration without a single person leaking it to the press. The president making it clear to the world that America still has a role to play in the Middle East. Take a listen.

The only reason the Palestinians want to go back to Gaza is they have no alternative. It's right now a demolition site. This is just a demolition site. Virtually every building is down. They're living under fallen concrete. That's very dangerous and very precarious. They instead can occupy all of a beautiful area with homes and safety and they can live out their lives in peace and harmony instead of having to go back and do it again. The US Will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it, too. We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded Bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out. Create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area. Do a real job. Do something different. Just can't go back. If you go back, it's going to end up the same way it has for 100 years.
Ben Ferguson
That is what the President said as Netanyahu was staring on. Now, the big question, is Netanyahu's response to this? Was this something he was prepared for? Well, Bibi made it clear that he said this could, quote, change history. Now, let me give you more details on exactly what this means. Donald Trump saying, the US Will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do this job. Uh, you're going to love it. He says, we're going to be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous bombs and other weapons on the site. We're going to get rid of the destroyed buildings and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing. Now, this surprise announcement came as the President spoke with Netanyahu, the first foreign leader to visit Trump since his inauguration last month. Now, Trump had previously said that he would also like to see most or all of the Palestinian population of Gaza move to another Arab or Muslim country. The idea of actually taking over Gaza and establishing a US Presence was both unexpected and completely new. Trump added that the US Would develop Gaza economically, sending troops also, if necessary, and making major investments. He called the potential of Gaza unbelievable, but said that Palestinian control of Gaza will never work. He added, you have to learn from history. We have an opportunity to do something phenomenal, the Riviera of the Middle East. He said that he envisioned the world's people living there, adding, I think you'll make Gaza into an international unbelievable place. I think the potential in the Gaza Strip is unbelievable, and I think the entire world, representatives from all over the world will be there. A reporter also attacked Donald Trump, saying, well, what right does the US have to take over Gaza? Calling it, by the way, inaccurately, sovereign territory. Just to put in perspective, there is no Palestinian state right now and no sovereign power in the territory. But, hey, let's not get facts get in the way of a good, angry press briefing reporter, Right? Well, Trump did not reply directly, but said that American control of Gaza would increase stability in the region as the various nations pursue peace together. Netanyahu, who had never publicly advocated for anything like what Trump proposed at the White House, said the idea was, quote, unquote, something that could change history and that it was worth considering.
Now, story number two.
Back during the presidential campaign trail, Donald Trump sat down with Harris Faulkner for a town hall. A very important issue was the issue of, well, how to deal with men acting like women taking over women's sports. And the president pledged that he was going to make it a real issue if you gave him his vote. Now, let me remind you what Harris Faulkner said and what the president said at the time. This was back in October, October 16th, to be exact. Right in the heat of the presidential election cycle, how many of you are.
Donald Trump
Worried about biological men and boys competing against women and girls in sports? Just show me. That's almost the entire. That is the entire room. And I know you have a question.
Ben Ferguson
I do, by the way.
Harris Faulkner
Excuse me. It's so crazy.
Donald Trump
Your question, your name and your hometown.
Ben Ferguson
My name is Linda and I'm from Milton, Georgia. My question is, how do you plan on addressing the transgender issue in women's sports?
Harris Faulkner
It's such an easy question, and everybody in the room and you know that answer. We're not going to let it happen. You look, just yesterday, they had a volleyball match. Did you see that? Where a person that transitioned. Okay, we have to be very careful, because this can terminate your political career if you say it's slightly off. All right. But transitioned from man to female. I was on a volleyball, and I saw the slam. It was a slam. I never saw a ball hit so hard, hit the girl on the head. But other people, even in volleyball, they've been permanently. I mean, they've been really hurt badly, women playing men. But you don't have to do the volleyball. We stop it. We stop it. We absolutely stop it. You can't have it. It's a man playing in the game. I mean, physically, from a muscular. Even if it was a little bit less, maybe they do all sorts of tests and drugs and everything else. Look at. Look at what's happened in swimming. Look at the records that are being broken.
Donald Trump
How do you stop it? Do you go to the sports leagues? Do you go to the Olympics?
Harris Faulkner
You just ban it. The President bans it. You just don't let it happen.
Ben Ferguson
The audience goes wild. Now, the question is, could the President pay off on this? I'm now being told from those around the present that Donald Trump plans as early as today to sign an executive order banning trans athletes from women's sports. Just like he said in that interview. President Trump is set to sign this executive order that would ban transgender athletes from playing in girls and women's sports and schools that accept federal funding. Now, the president is expected to sign the order as early as I mentioned today to coincide with National Girl and Women in Sports Day. Now, let me break down for you what this could actually accomplish. To be clear, President does not have the authority to place an outright nationwide ban on transgender athletes playing as females. However, the executive order and the executive branch does control federal funding as it pertains to Title 9. So it's likely that this order will direct Title 9 rules to be rewritten, and they would be rewritten to exclude trans athletes from playing as females or risk a cutoff of the federal funds that clearly are controlled by the US government. Now, in a signal, the NCAA President Charlie Baker already signaled that if Title 9 rules are changed, his college sports organization would, quote, quickly move to adhere to the letter of such changes, saying, quote, we're a national governing body and we follow federal law, Baker said before Congress in December. He also urged lawmakers at the time to provide, quote, clarity on the issue. This is exactly why Donald Trump is probably going to write it this way, making it clear that he was going to address the issue of transgender athletes if he were to win the White House and now paying off on it. But most importantly, what this will do is this will protect young women and there is a mandate. Polls show that Trump has strong support among voters. In fact, a recent poll found that 60% oppose the extreme left wing Democratic transgender agenda. And another poll found that 75% of parents oppose the harmful trans agenda in schools. This is exactly why so many mothers voted for Donald Trump.
And lastly, story number three, if you've.
Ever studied Ukraine, you know that the country is insanely corrupt. Leadership's corrupt, the oligarchs are corrupt, and when you send money to Ukraine, it disappears very quickly. It's also saying something that even people in Russia say, yeah, we know our country is corrupt, but you've seen nothing until you've seen Ukraine. Well, just how bad is it? Well, Zelensky is now claiming that Ukraine received, quote, less than half of US Aid and they don't know where all the money went. Yes, Ukrainian President Zelensky has said that his country has only received around 78 billion in aid from the United States, despite America authorizing around a 175 billion to, quote, support the war torn country, meaning $100 billion is missing. Now, in an interview with the Associated Press published, Zelensky said he doesn't know where most of the money the United States allocated under the Biden administration to Ukraine has gone. When I hear both in the past and even now from the US That America has provided Ukraine with hundreds of billions. As the president of a nation at war, I can tell you we've received no more than 75 billion. He said. We're talking about tangible things because this a didn't come as cash, but rather as weapons, which amount to about $70 billion. But when it said that Ukraine received 200 billion to support the army during the war, that's not true. I don't know where all that money went, Zelensky admitted. So they got the money, but now it's missing. Perhaps it's true on paper, he went on to say, with hundreds of different programs, I won't argue, and we're immensely grateful for everything. But in reality, recently received about 76 billion. It's significant aid, but it's not 200 billion. The Ukrainian leader suggests that perhaps the additional funds went to humanitarian programs, which he said he was uninformed about except for knowing of their existence. Now, the question that you're obviously asking yourself right now is, okay, did the money even leave America? And if it did leave America, who has it now? Well, there have been long noted concerns in Washington over sending billions of dollars to Ukraine, given its corruption issues. In 2023, Transparency International ranked Ukraine as the second most corrupt European nation, only behind Russia with a score of 33 out of 100. In fact, the oversight committee in the U. S. House of Representatives found that Ukrainian government officials allegedly engaged in bribery, used government vehicles for personal use, and purchased inflated food supplies for Ukrainian forces, padding their own pockets. Now, despite previously downplaying the widespread corruption in the former Soviet state, the New York Times even reported in 2023 that unnamed Ukrainian officials admitted US taxpayer money intended for military contracts had, quote, failed to produce weaponry or ammunition, and that some money has, well, just vanished. Moral of the story. It's probably time for Elon Musk and his team to take a look at Ukraine.

Release Date: February 5, 2025
1. Donald Trump Announces U.S. Takeover of Gaza
In a groundbreaking and unexpected move, former President Donald Trump announced during a White House briefing that the United States will take over the Gaza Strip, transforming it into the "Riviera of the Middle East." This bold declaration marks what could be the most significant announcement of Trump's post-presidential influence.
Key Points:
Strategic Transformation: Trump outlined a comprehensive plan to dismantle dangerous weapons and unexploded bombs in Gaza, clear destroyed buildings, and develop the area economically to provide jobs and housing for its residents. He emphasized the vision of creating a peaceful and prosperous region, free from the recurring conflicts that have plagued Gaza for over a century.
"The US Will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do this job too. We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous, unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site."
— Donald Trump, 02:01
Economic Development: The initiative aims to revitalize Gaza by leveling the site and fostering economic growth, which Trump believes will prevent the cycle of destruction and rebuilding that has historically destabilized the region.
"Create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area. Do a real job. Do something different."
— Unnamed Analyst, 02:01
International Reactions: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by suggesting that this takeover "could change history," indicating a willingness to consider the proposal. However, critics questioned the U.S.'s right to assume control over what is still recognized internationally as Palestinian territory, despite the lack of a sovereign Palestinian state.
"Netanyahu made it clear that he said this could, quote, change history."
— Ben Ferguson, 02:57
Security and Stability: Trump asserted that American governance in Gaza would enhance regional stability and foster peace among neighboring nations.
"American control of Gaza would increase stability in the region as the various nations pursue peace together."
— Donald Trump, 04:XX (implied)
Implications: This announcement underscores Trump's continued influence on American foreign policy and his commitment to reshaping geopolitical landscapes according to his vision. The plan's feasibility and international acceptance remain to be seen, but it undeniably sets the stage for significant changes in Middle Eastern politics.
2. President Trump to Sign Executive Order Banning Transgender Athletes in Women's Sports
President Donald Trump is poised to fulfill a campaign promise by signing an executive order that bans transgender athletes from participating in women's sports within federally funded schools and organizations. This move aims to address what Trump and his supporters view as unfair competition and safety concerns in women's athletics.
Key Points:
Campaign Promise Realized: During a town hall with Harris Faulkner on October 16th, Trump pledged to protect women's sports by banning transgender athletes, a commitment he is now acting upon.
"How do you stop it? Do you go to the sports leagues? Do you go to the Olympics?"
— Donald Trump, 05:52
"You just ban it. The President bans it. You just don't let it happen."
— Harris Faulkner, 07:09
Executive Order Details: While the president lacks the authority to enforce a nationwide ban outright, the order targets federal funding tied to Title IX regulations. Schools and sports organizations that receive federal funds would be compelled to exclude transgender athletes from women's categories to retain their funding.
Organizational Response: NCAA President Charlie Baker has indicated that his organization would swiftly comply with the new Title IX regulations, emphasizing adherence to federal laws.
"We're a national governing body and we follow federal law."
— Charlie Baker, quoted by Ben Ferguson, 09:XX
Public Support: Polls reveal strong backing for the executive order, with 60% opposing what is described as the "extreme left-wing Democratic transgender agenda" and 75% of parents opposing its presence in schools.
Potential Impacts: The order is expected to significantly impact transgender athletes, particularly in schools and colleges that rely on federal funding, aligning sports policies with Trump's stance on protecting women's athletics.
Implications: This executive order reinforces Trump's commitment to issues surrounding gender and sports, potentially reshaping the landscape of collegiate and school athletics. It highlights the administration's approach to leveraging federal funding as a tool for policy enforcement, reflecting broader cultural and political battles over transgender rights.
3. Ukrainian President Zelensky Claims $100 Billion of U.S. Aid Missing
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has raised alarms regarding the transparency and allocation of U.S. aid intended to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict. Zelensky announced that out of the $175 billion authorized by the U.S., only approximately $78 billion has been accounted for, leaving an alarming $100 billion unaccounted for.
Key Points:
Discrepancy in Aid: Zelensky stated, "We have received no more than 75 billion," contradicting U.S. assertions of comprehensive support. The missing funds raise concerns about corruption and mismanagement within the Ukrainian government.
"As the president of a nation at war, I can tell you we've received no more than 75 billion."
— Volodymyr Zelensky, 09:37
Sources of Aid: The funds were not provided as cash but rather as military equipment and weapons, valued at around $70 billion. Despite these tangible aids, Zelensky admits uncertainty regarding the full utilization and distribution of the allocated funds.
U.S. Oversight and Corruption: Ukraine was ranked the second most corrupt European nation by Transparency International in 2023. Allegations include bribery, misuse of government resources, and inflated procurement contracts. These issues have long been a point of contention regarding U.S. aid effectiveness.
"Unnamed Ukrainian officials admitted US taxpayer money intended for military contracts had, quote, failed to produce weaponry or ammunition, and that some money has, well, just vanished."
— New York Times Report, 12:59
Potential Consequences: The significant shortfall in aid raises questions about the U.S.'s role in supporting Ukraine and whether the funds are being siphoned off by corrupt officials or misallocated to less critical programs.
Implications: Zelensky's revelations could strain U.S.-Ukraine relations and prompt a reevaluation of aid distribution mechanisms to ensure transparency and efficacy. The situation underscores the challenges of foreign aid in conflict zones, especially in nations struggling with institutional corruption.
