Former Assistant U.S. Attorney
This is an agency that is near and dear to my heart. As a former Assistant United States Attorney, it's critical that we have a great leader at the top of the Department of Justice. Obviously, we thank Pam for her service and she's served the administration for this first 15 months. But the next person who's heading the Department of Justice has got to be aggressive. We have a limited period right now with President Trump in the White House, with House Republicans and Senate Republicans. We have got to be on offense for justice and accountability.

You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson. Good Friday morning. Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update. And we've got one big story for you coming out of the White House. The President has decided to make a switch when it comes to who is the Attorney General of the United States of America. Pam Bondi is out. So what does this mean and who could fill the job? I've got all the details for you. Every day, Americans make choices that shape our country's future, right down to which cell phone provider we support. Here's what most people don't actually realize. Patriot Mobile isn't just a wireless provider. They're an activist organization funded by selling top tier cell service. They've been on the front lines defending our freedoms long before it was cool, standing up in the gap when others wouldn't. The best part is they deliver prioritized premium service on all three major US Networks, giving you the same or even better coverage backed by 100 US based customer support. You get unlimited data, mobile hotspots, international roaming, and so much more. But when you switch to Patriot Mobile, that's what I love the most. You'll help grow a movement that fuels the Christian conservative cause. Every bill you pay helps advance the values of faith, family and freedom. And switching is easier than ever. You can literally activate in minutes. Keep your number, keep your phone or upgrade. So take a stand today. Go to patriotmobile.com Ben47 or call 972-patriot and if you use the promo code Ben47, you're gonna get a free month of service. That's patriotmobile.com Ben47 or 972-patriot and make the switch today. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one, there was major news coming out of the White House today and that was the reporting that Pam Bondi has been fired from any official position in the Trump administration. I want to walk you through exactly what happened here and why it's happening. So you understand. Over the last 24 hours, there have been rumors circulating all over Washington that Pam Bondi was either fired, forced out, or stepping down amid internal conflict. However, none of those claims, well, became the real story until the White House made it very clear that she was out of a job. Here's how the news broke on Fox News Channel.
Fox News Correspondent
Kelly, I just got off the phone with President Trump. We have a big scoop. Pam Bondi will soon leave her job as the attorney general. She is going to get a different job within the administration. It doesn't sound like there is any bad blood between her and President Trump, but it does seem like they want her to go and do something else. And in an interim role, she will be replaced by Todd Blanche, who is currently her deputy at the Justice Department. So it doesn't sound like Blanche is being elevated long term to the attorney general. There might be somebody else that the president wants to go in there. But President Trump soon will announce to the entire world that it is the end of Pam Bondi's time as the attorney general. He still thinks that she is a great person and that she did a good job. And he still wants her in the fold because she will still be an important part of the administration, he tells me, but no longer as the top law enforcement officer of the United States that, at least for a little while is going to be Todd Blanche.
Ben Ferguson
Do you see this right here first? That's rather big news and I'm sure you don't have the answer to this, but there have been some rumors, rumored names to replace her.
Fox News Correspondent
Did you happen to catch that so far, Tom Blanche?
Ben Ferguson
Now, even as that news broke, there were still questions being asked. Hold on a second. Was Pam Bonnie fired? Was she not fired? And is she actually going to stay within the administration? Well, here's a new headline from the New York Post right now, Pam Bonnie speaks out for the first time after Trump fired her as the attorney general. Now, the former U.S. attorney General Pam Bondi is their headline spoke out after being fired from her perch as the head of the Justice Department and teased her new private sector role where she will continue fighting for President Trump. She put this out on X saying, quote, leading President Trump's historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history. I remain internally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to make America safe again. Now, Trump's decision to axe Bondi came weeks after making the first cabinet level firing of his administration. That is where he terminated the former Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, who is now serving as special envoy to the Shield of the Americas. Bondi is getting a new private sector role is what she said, where she will be allied with the administration, but details of that position are not fully clear at this moment. In the meantime, Trump has tapped the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, to serve as interim AG while he decides on a permanent replacement. The name that I'm hearing the most right now is the EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. Apparently he is seriously considering looking at him for the job. Bonnie also added on X this I will be working tirelessly to transition the Office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I'm thrilled about and where I will continue to fight for President Trump and this administration now President Trump told Pam Bondi in person on Wednesday that she was on the outs. The source had told the Post that conversation took place after the two attended the Supreme Court's oral arguments and the birthright citizenship case earlier in the day. Bondi, who served as the Florida attorney general from 2011 through 2019 and was a key ally of Trump in the 2020 election aftermath, has been the president's second choice to helm the DOJ after Representative Matt Gaetz withdrew. She quickly faced controversy after claiming on Fox News last February that a list of late sex predator Jeffrey Epstein's clients was sitting on my desk right now to review later mag influencers were welcomed the White House and given those binders that were titled the Epstein Files Phase one. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wilds later told Vanity Fair in an interview last year that Bonnie completely whiffed the Epstein situation, chiding that there is no client list and it sure as hell wasn't on her desk. Again, that coming from the White House chief of staff. And that is where the turmoil really began. Key allies of the president such as Laura Loomer publicly and privately pushed Trump to get Bonnie the boot after firing several Republicans in Congress, such as Representative Nancy Mace, cheered Trump, who famously had a falling out with the ags of his first term. Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr appeared frustrated with the DOJ's lackluster attempts to prosecute some of his political foes is what many in the media are also trying to spin this as. Now let me be clear, a lot of this really did come down to the Epstein files. Trey Gowdy talking on Fox News Channel had this to say about it.
Trey Gowdy
Todd will will do a great job and I know the president thinks highly of him. She obviously had some dust ups up on Capitol Hill numerous times whenever she went up there to testify here she is versus GOP lawmakers.

Bondi, I can assure you. So is that what built up, do you think, that handling early on of Epstein? I know you say she's not tied to it, but how it was handled early on. Yeah, but it wasn't just her, Brad. I mean, how many different podcasters and other folks promised us all this information on Jeffrey Epstein? And those of us that actually were prosecutors were sitting there thinking, you've had three opportunities. You had Florida, you had Maxwell before she was convicted, and you had Epstein before he killed himself. So where are the coconspirators? The problem was whenever you. And it wasn't just Pam, there are other members of this administration that wrote checks with their mouths that the rest of their body couldn't catch. Now, you played a clip from somebody who's running for governor in South Carolina. I mean, why would you subpoena a Republican attorney general when all you have to do is what I did this morning, call her on the phone. So she was a victim, a little bit of other people's ambition like Nancy Mace. A victim, a little bit of getting out over her skis. But let's be honest. When did we start releasing files, Brett? I mean, I haven't seen the Matt Gates file, have you? I haven't seen the JonBenet Ramsey file. When did we start releasing files?
Ben Ferguson
One thing is sure, it's the President said it was time for someone new. Pam Bondi will go to the private sector, as she said, and support the President. What will be very interesting to see is who gets the job now. And we expect that to come very shortly. And when that name is named, we'll give it to you.
