Good Wednesday morning. It's so nice to have you on the 47 Morning Update. And here are two very big stories that we have have for you this morning. First up, Republicans are saying it's time for accountability when it comes to taking advantage of government programs, including food stamps and also medical health care. Why is it the Democrats are now attacking Republicans after they used to be in favor of this type of accountability? And how many lazy people are taking all of our tax dollars? Well, we're going to break that down for you in just a moment. And also in a shocking story, Chinese nationals have now been charged smuggling agro terrorism weapons into the US and doing research at American universities that could cost us billions of dollars and a threat to all of our agriculture. I'll have the details of what the Trump administration is doing to stop it in just a second. It's the 47 Morning Update and it starts right now. When Donald Trump ran for president, he promised the American people accountability, especially with waste, fraud and abuse. We know what has been uncovered just through do. But there's also another type of accountability the president talked about, and that is making sure that people aren't taking advantage of American government programs because they're just being lazy. A great example of this is the issue of work requirements for food stamps. Republican lawmakers, backed by former President Donald Trump, are now advancing legislation to impose stricter work requirements on federal assistance programs that also include Medicaid and snap, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps. The initiative is part of the One Big Beautiful bill, a comprehensive tax and spending reform package that passed the House on May 22. The bill aims to offset 4.5 trillion in tax cuts by reducing federal spending, including significant cuts to Medicaid fraud and SNAP fraud, also allowing for work requirements so that you can't just be lazy taking advantage of the American taxpayer. Now Republicans have been very clear about this. They have argued that these work requirements promote self sufficiency and reduce fraud. House Speaker Mike Johnson has emphasized that the changes are designed to ensure that able bodied American adults without dependence contribute to the workforce. A study by the American Enterprise Institute found that non disabled Medicaid recipients without children spend on average 4.2 hours daily watching TV or playing video games, supporting the GOP stance on encouraging employment among this group. Now there's some hypocrisy that I'm going to expose for you right now when it comes to the left and I'm going to play for you a montage of Democrats once champing the welfare work requirements that they now claiming are, quote, abusive. Now if you'll make sure that you share this podcast wherever you can on social media and also subscribe the show so you don't miss any of this information when I put it out, now would be the time to do it. Now, Democrats are strongly opposing now in 2025 the work requirements they're arguing that they quote, would disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, including caregivers, individuals with intermediate employment and those with health issues not classified as disabilities. Now former President Barack Obama even criticized the bill, stating it could strip health care coverage he claimed from millions of Americans, including 7.6 million losing Medicaid and 3.1 million losing Marketplace insurance. Critics are also saying that similar work requirements in states like Arkansas and Georgia have led to significant coverage losses without substantial gains in employment. Well, so why is it now that Democrats are obsessed with helping people commit fraud and also just being lazy? Especially when you go back and listen to what they've said in the past, it's pretty simple. They're trying to buy votes now of people they believe are willing to vote for them as long as they don't make them work and take care of themselves or act like adults. So let me just remind the Democrats of their hypocrisy. Here's the montage that we put together to remind them of their own words. Even Bill Clinton got in on the.

Action nearly 30 years ago. Robert Kennedy said, work is the meaning of what this country is all about. We need it as individuals. We need to sense it in our fellow citizens and we need it as a society and as a people. He was right then and it's right now. From now on, our nation's answer to this great social challenge will no longer be a never ending cycle of welfare. It will be the dignity, the power and the ethic of work. Today we are taking an historic chance to make welfare what it was meant to be. A second chance, not a way of life. This bill will help people to go to work so they can stop drawing a welfare check and start drawing a paycheck. It is now clearly better to go to work than to stay on welfare. Clearly better because of actions taken by the Congress in this session. It is clearly better to end the terrible, almost physical isolation of huge numbers of poor people and their children from the rest of mainstream America. We have to do that today. We are ending welfare as we know it. But I hope this day will be remembered not for what it ended, but for what it began. A new day that offers hope, honors responsibility, rewards work and changes the terms of the debate. For too many, welfare has been a way of life. For too long. It has condemned too many on welfare to a lifetime at the margins of our society. Today we start to change all that.

Anyone who wants to receive welfare must sign an individual responsibility contract so that they are forced to agree up front to the conditions placed on receiving the benefit and so that they will have a plan from day one on how to get themselves off of welfare. Put them to work and make them want to go to work and make it reasonable for them to go to work. Be mandatory work requirement for anyone receiving welfare.

They actually have charged and run ads saying that President Obama wants to weaken the work requirements in the welfare reform bill I signed that moved millions of people from welfare to work. Wait, the requirement was for more work, not, not less. I am telling you, the claim that President Obama weakened welfare reform's work requirement is just not true.

Best anti poverty program is a job which confers not just income, but structure and dignity and a sense of connection to community.

Total and utter hypocrisy from the left. Now, as the bill moves to the Senate, it faces resistance from both Democrat and Republican holdouts who are concerned about the potential impact on their constituents. And they also claim the national debt. The reality is this plan, spearheaded by Donald Trump, is one that's long overdue and one that virtually every major leader in the Democratic Party in the past has supported. So why are they not supporting it now? Solely because they're trying to buy votes and allow people to take advantage of you, the taxpayer.

It is a story that you may only have heard about if you lived in Detroit and were watching the local news. Chinese nationals now charged with smuggling agro terrorism weapon into the United States of America. The question you should be asking yourself is this, why would the Chinese do this? And the second question you should be asking yourself is why is the media not warning you about what just happened? Now these two Chinese nationals have been charged with conspiracy, fraud and smuggling a deadly biopathogen into the United States of America. And as I said moment ago, if you weren't in Detroit, you probably didn't know that this threat to our entire nation even happened. How'd the Detroit Channel 7 News cover it? Well, here's what they had to say about the pathogen coming through their airport.

Now to two Chinese nationals with ties to the University of Michigan facing federal charges accused of smuggling a dangerous biological agent through Detroit Metro Airport.

33 year old Yin Ching Jian and her boyfriend Ji Young Luke are charged with conspiracy, smuggling, making false statements to investigators and visa fraud.

Here's why this could have been such a big deal. Federal prosecutors calling the pathogen a potential agroterrorism weapon that could be used for targeting crops like wheat, barley, corn and rice.

On Tuesday, 33 year old Eun Chun Jian made her initial appearance at the federal courthouse in downtown Detroit right behind me in front of Magistrate Judge Kimberly Altman. Jian, a postdoc research fellow at the University of Michigan from China, has been charged with smuggling a biological pathogen that has been described as a potential agricultural terrorism weapon.

That is kind of scary. You kind of just don't understand why.

U of M students Camilla Webb and Tanvi Dega are trying to wrap their heads around how it all happened. This 25 page federal complaint outlines how the alleged crime transpired at Detroit Metro Airport on July 27, 2024. U.S. customs and Border officers detained Jian's 34 year old boyfriend Lun Yong Liu, also a Chinese national, for carrying Fusarium graminerium, a plant based pathogen. The complaint describes this fungus as capable of producing mycotoxins that adversely affects crops, humans and animals, causing billions of dollars in economic losses globally each year. During the investigation, Liu initially denied possessing the pathogen but later admitted to bringing it into the country for research at the University of Michigan where Jian worked in the lab Lab it's kind of.

Shocking that our resources are being used for something like this.

A joint investigation by the FBI and CBP reviewed electronic communications between Leo and Jeon. Evidence showed discussions on shipping biological materials and research activities at the lab prior to Leo's arrival. Additionally, electronic records indicate Gian's involvement in previous smuggling activities.

I would have never expected something like that to happen at our school.

Investigators also found evidence linking Jian to the Chinese Communist Party and receiving funding for her postdoctoral work from a foundation largely supported by the Chinese government.

Now, Ji an is being held in federal custody until Thursday, June 5th. That's when Magistrate Judge Altman will decide on Jeon's detention or bond at the next hearing. Meanwhile, Jeon's boyfriend Leo was denied entry into the US and was sent back to China on the day of the incident. From downtown, I'm Faraz Javed, seven News, Detroit.

Why is it that you're not hearing about this nationwide? Why is it that a story this big that could have this big of an impact on our lives in America is just being covered up by the mainstream media? Thank goodness the FBI director, Cash Patel, put out a lengthy statement bringing all this information to the public's eye, saying, quote, new I can confirm that the FBI arrested a Chinese national within the United States who allegedly smuggled a dangerous biological pathogen into the country. The individual is alleged to have smuggled a dangerous fungus, which is a agroterrorism agent, into the U. S to research at the University of Michigan where she works. This fungus can cause a disease called head blight, a disease of wheat, barley and rice, causing significant health issues in both humans and livestock. It is responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year. Evidence also indicates had expressed loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party and had received funding from the Chinese government for similar work on the pathogen in China. Now the FBI director also talks about her boyfriend, also charged in a complaint working at a Chinese university where he conducts research on the same pathogen. They also say that he lied and then admitted that he also smuggled this pathogen into America through the Detroit Metropolitan Airport so that he could also conduct research at the University of Michigan. Now, both these individuals have been charged with conspiracy, smuggling goods in the United States, false statements and also visa fraud. Now then, the FBI director says this, this case is a sobering reminder. Chinese Communist Party is working around the clock to deploy operatives and researchers to infiltrate American institutions and target our food supply, which would have grave consequences, putting American lives and also our economy at ser risk. Your FBI will continue working tirelessly to be on guard against it. This is exactly why the American people voted for Donald Trump, because he was going to put people in charge like Cash Patel to tell you what's actually happening now.
