When I showed these clips the room fell silent.Elon Musk predicts AI will be smarter than ANY human by next year. Smarter than ALL humans within five years. Which means that by 2030 AI’s intelligence will transcend the combined intelligence of all human beings on planet earth. The AI-Human Eclipse is upon us…I shared some insights from Elon and other AI luminaries during my presentation of “HumAInity: Human + AI Creativity, Connection & Coalescence” at CreativeMornings Lisbon during Portugal Tech Week.Tristan Harris (from The Social Dilemma) responded on Jon Stewart: We’re building the most powerful, inscrutable, uncontrollable technology we have ever invented; we’re releasing it faster than we’ve deployed any other technology in history; under the maximum incentive to cut corners on safety. There’s a word for this, and that word is…👆🏼 Watch the video above to find out 👆🏼What’s your word for what’s transpiring with this super-technology? Is AI “awesome” or “insane?”Let me know in the comments. This is a public episode. Sam Altman and his cronies have already blown past the ONE-PERSON billion-dollar company betting pool. Now? The bets are on something more radical: the first ZERO-PERSON billion-dollar company.Take a minute to process that. A zero-person company. Worth a bil. This ain’t sci-fi. It’s an era when tech CEO’s place bets on when you can type a prompt into a chatbot to conceive, build, and scale a company to billion-dollar valuation—without a single human employee. The timeline? Within a few years. But... to what end?• Who benefits when value is created without human participation?• What happens to work, purpose, and economic distribution?• Are we building tools that empower humanity, or replace it?The technology is inevitable. The choices we make around it are not.The one-person company was a way to leverage human potential. The zero-person company is something else... or is it? If a useful product or service makes life better for humanity, then does it matter who made it?ZERO-PERSON BILLION-DOLLAR companies — a harbinger of abundance or a caution tale in-the-making? How can success be natural? Our success manifestation already exists as a wave of potentiality, a particle of probability, a currency of consciousness. And our flow state is how we move to meet it. Future PrescientCan we predict the future? By embracing transformative change in the here and now, I believe we can. We can divine the future —through presence.Hollywood is a bellwether for culture as it evolves. Innovations in entertainment both reflect the culture and enhance it. Hollywood shapes culture while being shaped by it.Transformations taking place across the entertainment landscape offer a unique opportunity to delve deeply into the consciousness of Hollywood. To peer inside the minds, hearts, and offices of those who craft the consciousness-molding media that circulates in the world as entertainment.Conscious ContentMarshall McLuhan proclaimed “media is the message.” But my experience transcends his statement: Media is bigger and more incisive than that. The concept of media, of information, of the nature in which content is presented, projected, distributed and digested impacts consciousness.Because content IS consciousness. As a fluid storyteller across multiple platforms, my long-time message to media makers has been that publishing content in all its shapes and forms across all the channels available to us is precisely what makes one a “content creator.”It’s a responsibility. A privilege. And also very meta: a content creator’s work derives from consciousness, affects consciousness. Because it is consciousness.Content. Is. Consciousness.TransformationsI am—and have long been—a shaper of art and commerce, a steward of storytelling, a midwife of media birthed into being.I’ve guided content creators from disparate backgrounds in all forms and genres. From the graphic novel heroes drawn from India’s Ramayana to studio-produced fare drawing on the power of iconic characters like Elle Woods. My own unique offerings are published across manifold forms of media. I’ve authored editorials, essays, a hard copy book, hosted a web series, produced meditative sound journeys and audio books, shot docuseries, recorded podcasts with teachers and business leaders, moderated panels with startup founders and venture capitalists, posed questions, offered insight and followed my own sense of journalistic discovery through my own writing, teaching, speaking.I bring a unique perspective as writer and filmmaker along with an intimate knowledge of leadership and enterprise; personal growth and professional development; lean-startup methodology and design thinking. My philosophy and practices inform hopeful, aspirational — sometimes cautionary — content about the future. All of which serves to transform the audience. Transform it by raising its consciousness.Future VisionsMy company, Virtual Matter, is a Future Visions Agency. Which is how I envisage my work: serving as catalyst for clients and creative partners to seize agency for themselves, for the future, when crafting their own meaningful visions. If you like what you hear in the audio above, please listen to the full (14 minute) episode where I introduce some Algorithmic concepts and pose inquiries in greater depth.Where’s all this headed? No human being knows, but The Algorithm of Hollywood has the answer. This is a public episode. Who is programming who?In Hollywood, something new is running the show nowadays. In the podcast, I go into depth about the factors surrounding the ins and outs of the Hollywood content game and the challenges and opportunities all of its players are currently facing. There’s a new studio boss in Town, a new network head, a newfangled streaming chief: the enigmatic “algorithm.”Will the Algorithm support it’s own investigation? What kind of impact does the algorithm have on the way we conceive, create, produce and consume content? What influence will it exert on the media and technology that companies are streaming on their platforms? How do we mitigate algorithmic bias while using what the latest tools have to offer? What about the serendipity of discovery? Is it forever lost? How do we retain our sense of humanity? Can we strive for a sense of balance in a business—and world—being revolutionized by machine learning and optimized for metrics that re-shape the nature of entertainment, the business of creativity, and the nature of storytelling? The Algorithm of Hollywood has the answer.
