But I remember you texting me like, oh, he said, you know this and this is, this is big and this, you know. So I want to talk about that stuff but the first thing I want to talk about is, is old Dan Crenshaw. And I didn't know about this whole Congress thing but apparently there was a bill that almost got passed or was close to being passed that was going to take away from future veteran Benefits and apparently was not going to mess with any other veterans that already had benefits, but they were going to target certain disabilities that are rated right now and they were not going to rate them anymore or something like that. I heard about this first from old Dan Crenshaw and he put out a reel. And sometimes I don't know if this guy is mentally ill or if he just loves being a heel, but like he already has no support from anybody. But then he puts this out. So I was watching it. So isn't he a lame duck?

All right, so the vfw, with the help of a small handful for Republicans and of course all Democrats, just over combat wounded veterans and surviving spouses. Why would they do that? Well, Congress finally got their together and put together pretty good bill. A bill that again helps surviving spouses, actually helps combat wounded veterans. Right. Sizes the kind of benefits that everyone gets. And to pay for that, they right sized other benefits that veterans have been getting forever. Like 50 disability rating for sleep apnea. That is. It was when I was getting out, it was a 30 disability rating. If you lose a limb or an eye. And tinnitus, another disability rating, they took away that too. That's the pay for. It doesn't even affect anyone getting their benefits now. And yet a handful of Republicans and all Democrats are too chicken shit to actually get it done. And who's suffering now? The people who actually need these benefits. So good job, vfw.

Whoo. Dan Crenshaw coming in hot. So I saw that and I'm like, what the hell is he talking about? So this is what he's referencing. Congress recently debated the Take Care of America veterans, the Take Care of America's Veterans act, which included controversial provisions that proposed reducing or limited future disability payouts for certain conditions like tinnitus and sleep apnea. Lawmakers included these cuts as a budget offset to pay for expanding other highly sought after veterans benefits, such as the Major Richard Starr act, which allows medically retired combat veterans to receive both their full military payment and VA disability compensation. Supporters of the bill argued that because the VA was already considering updating its rating criteria for these conditions. Codifying the changes would ensure the resulting funds stayed within veterans community rather than returning to general treasury. However, the proposed trade off faced heavy backlash cash from major veteran services organizations and was temporarily stopped. Whoa. So what they were going to do was they were going to take VA benefits from the conventional guys, the average guys, and they were going to try to give full on med board from what this is saying people, that med board out of the military, which means you medically retire now, just like we can talk about how some people get VA benefits that disability benefits that they maybe don't need. Right? Because I'm all about it, man. Do you, man? If you can get your money from the federal government like everybody else does with Section 8 and food stamps, you at least served your country, go get it. Right. But I know a lot of people that were medically retired out of the military and I'm like, huh, you're back yet you're, you're a cop now wearing a 22 pound vest and a 16 pound utility belt, but you're medically retired for your back out of the military. Again, not hating on anybody, but we're essentially, we're taking funds from veterans and trying to give them to more specialized veterans.

No. Yeah. I'm not saying soft, I'm not saying special operations forces. I meant like more special, like more niche groups or more specific stuff. But is Dan Crenshaw talking about special operation forces guys? Most likely he went off the whole back of my day spiel about, you know, we only got 30 for this. Well, do you think that's fair? No. Judging by the tone of your voice, Dan Crenshaw, you don't think that's fair. But your generation was getting hosed. So now guys are coming out. Guys have tinnitus so bad that it's crippling and giving them migraines. You can't get hearing loss when you get out of the military. It's so, so hard to get hearing loss that my hearing dramatically went down from firing weapons for four and a half years and then another three years in the National Guard. My hearing has tremendously went down, but the, the VA is not paying for it. The least they could do is give you 10% for tinnitus. That's it. That's all you get for tinnitus. 10%. There's people that can vouch for that like you that have fired weapons their whole career and now have to deal with tinnitus. It's crippling. Right before you came on, you had no idea I was going to bring this up. And you were like, dude, you're tinnitus is killing me today.

Yep. It's so loud right now, dude. I'm distracted. My head hurts. So yeah, dude, like, especially my left ear because, you know, I got some sound in this one. It's drowning it out. Dude, it's so loud right now. I wish people who don't have it could experience it. Like, I send it. There's a YouTube clip that. That goes through different tinnitus sounds that I'll send to someone. They don't understand tinnitus. Like, yeah, I'm like, that's what I hear 24 7. I never have silence in my ears, and I kind of just live with it, dude. I don't even think about it. But some days, man, it's really bad. Like today, usually when I'm. When I'm sick or getting sick or when I'm hungover, it's loud as a. And I'm neither right now. So I don't know what the Going on.

So I think maybe lack of caffeine today.

We've all had a hard day today. I've had a hard day. So that's the one. Poor Eli's had a hard day. Eli got grounded for two days for. From video games for not washing his pot that he's supposed to wash every morning. And then he fell off the treadmill and then tried to get back on the treadmill after he fell off and got fell off again. And I had to scream at him to stop trying to get on the treadmill because he was in an OODA loop trying to get back on a treadmill that was kicking his ass off. So Eli's had a hard day, too.

Well, I mean, here's the thing. We've attacked the VFW for not being relevant. I've attacked the VFW for not staying relevant and destroying their own machine because they won't. They won't. I mean, the easiest thing I can do is stay relevant, like GWAT veterans. You mentioned the, the vfw, and they're like, why would I go to a vfw? I don't think that they're doing very good marketing. I don't think they're appealing to the new generation. But that was really my only critique. I never really critiqued their effectiveness in dc. I didn't know what they did. I talked to some people high up there on the phone that didn't want to come on the podcast necessarily at the time. And, and they, they explained to me what they lobby for and the importance of vfw. And I was like, okay, this is huge. Now, granted, this video is God awful and you will see what I mean when I say they are not in tune with marketing or anything like that or the this generation.

We had a good win today on Capitol Hill, and normally we wouldn't read a lot of different things, but we wanted to make sure we get a clear message out to everybody about the advocacy that we succeeded in today. So we're going to read this first and then you will receive it in print officially. But we want to make sure that everybody hears our message first here. We stopped Congress from taking a dangerous step today. No matter how people tried to spin it. Congress shouldn't open Pandora's box on arbitrarily reducing disability ratings. It's never been done before and we're not about to let it start now. I know there are provisions in this bill that everybody wants to get done. Major Richard Starr act needs to pass, but it needs to pass clean. And it certainly cannot be passed by taking away from future veterans for survivors who wanted this path to be fixed. Your injustices, the fight is not over.

Like, I would be like, hell yeah. But again, it's not probably a good idea. It's not. I. That's the only thing I critique about the vfw is their loud.

And I from what I researched when I read earlier that they're that they were trying to allocate it from veterans to other veterans to make sure that if the VA was cutting those that didn't go back to general treasury. And I get that. But why take from veterans who are earn it, they're rated for it, they're provided it and give it to other veterans. I do believe in my bones Dan Crenshaw is trying to cover for more like kind of what you said for the special operations guys so they can have. Because he believes maybe special operations deserves it more.

Well, he doesn't have a check anymore, so he needs to get all the money he can get now.

So I don't know what his angle is with that. I mean to whatever veterans were you were supporting is like. So if I'm at. If I didn't get medically retired out of the army and I'm at. And I'm. But I'm about to get out of the Army. I'm getting out and I want to get tinnitus or I got sleep apnea because those were the only two really that have been mentioned that I've seen. I don't get to get those. But some guy that get. Because my money's got to go to a guy that medically retired now gets medical retirement his entire career or a guy that retires and gets his pension and from the army, but now he wants both, so I get none.

So I. How's a sleep apnea work into to the military though?

I don't know. I don't really know what sleep apnea even is.

That's where you can't breathe it. You kind of stop breathing at night. It's pretty dangerous. A lot of men die from it.

I mean I could see how it could happen. I just don't know. I, I'm not. I've never tried to go get it, so I don't know. I don't have it. I don't think so. My wife argues that I have it, but I think I just probably have it, dude.

I've seen people. It was really, really hard to get for a long time. In particular, sleep apnea was insanely difficult to get and it took like a year or two to get processed. I've heard that since it's happened, since they did better with it. I don't know. It's, it's, it's gotten better as far as getting it approved quicker, but,

Sometimes I, I really do try and figure out why Dan Crenshaw is so hated. We've had him on, we've talked to him, me and Mike on the phone way back in the day. And you, Mike asked him like, dude, why are you so hated?

Yeah, yeah. It's a pretty good interview. Mike, Mike held, held his feet to the fire. And he just says, because he essentially said, because people are haters and they need someone to hate. And I'm like, I can, I can relate to that statement. Because as much as I try to be an advocate for the conventional guy, the average cop, the first responders, like blue collar dudes, like, people will attack me for trying to stand up for them. I'm like, but I'm standing up for you.

It just seems he's universally hated, which is completely different than, you know, just your average jerk off, some comments who just hates on people to hate. You know what I mean? Yeah, So I think the. The whole thing with all of this is the fact that we're gonna have that whole debate of when it's. When people are in right now, are they worried about when I get out? Am I going to have issues of getting compensated for things that I did or whatever it is. A lot of it, too, is a lot of people don't realize we have VA lawyers that will back you 100 for everything. So I hired a lawyer before I even started doing any of my claims. He spoke on my behalf. He did all of that because when I did the first. When I did my first claim, I only got 10% out of everything. And I'm like, what? That's crazy. There's people that go to boot camp, will trip, fall, and. And. And sprain their knee, and they get 100, and they never even graduate and never do anything. Like I said, I'm gonna get mine. Like, I'm. I'm gonna get my money. I don't give a. What anybody says. You can call me a. I don't care. I'm gonna get paid from the government for the rest of my life. I'm gonna do everything I can. But, I mean, the fact that there's actually people that are helping us and backing us is very, very surprising, because the VA is not easy to work with. It's not easy to get vetted through. Like, I said yesterday, I have a dental appointment, and that's all covered, too. And I didn't even know about any of these things until Someone. I was 100 for almost two years before and said, hey, man, you know you have dental, right? And I was like, no. What the are you talking about? It's not like they hand you this packet, and it's like, no, hey, here's everything that you. You can do. And I have a buddy who hit me up, and he's like, hey, man, just let you know you have all of these benefits you can do. You might want to start looking into Them. So I did, and I was like, holy. There's. There's a lot of things at 80, at 60, there's a big difference. But I think it's going to be a huge legal battle. If it does go another way, it's gonna make a lot harder for these VA lawyers to get you what you deserve, and especially if there's backing, like, my medical jacket is thick. Anything. If I was sick, I went to medical. Didn't take a day off, but I went in. I got documented. I hurt myself. I went. I just got documented. I probably, maybe my entire career, maybe took a month to myself for medical reasons. A lot of them were surgeries and stuff, but if you don't get it documented, it never happened. And my dad did. You know, he did a while, and he told me, he's like, dude, anything you do get documented. You can't go to the VA with no paperwork and expect money. It doesn't. It doesn't. Doesn't work like that. And all VA money, disability money is hush money.

It's. It's that it. I mean, if you don't, your uphill battle gets a lot more uphill. Exactly. You know, hey, I didn't. I didn't go because it was. It was frowned upon in the infantry to show weakness. The VA does not care about that.

Then you got to go into letters from people and contacting your buddy you haven't Talked to in 10 years. Be like, remember that jump when I said I hurt my knee and I was walking funny for like four months. Do you mind writing me a letter?

And even then, it might not even work. You know what I mean? So, like, I don't understand his backing behind it. I. I just. This is what we did and anybody else can kind of off, but I'm just hoping it kind of.

Were you getting the. Kind of. Were you getting the feeling that he was trying to. He wants that money to be allocated to more soft foundations or do you think.

Yeah, I think he's trying to people. He lost his job and a lot of it had to do with veterans not voting for him anymore. I think that might be his way of shoving it up their ass. Seriously. I think he's that type of guy that would. People added spite.

Yeah. I mean, he still has a voice and a lot of different stuff. And, you know, it. He's going to try to use it and put his name on something. Whether good, bad, or indifferent, you know, that's just. I think that's the type of person that he is. It just. I. I think it sucks. Whether you're the soft community, whether you're admin, it doesn't make a difference. You have injuries that the military caused or if you have, you know, problems at the mill that you got within the military. I still have a deviated septum. Like, half my nose is closed shut, and it's because I got. I got blown up. So it's like, I didn't. If you look at my pictures from boot camp, I never had this. Like, I never had any of this stuff. And like, I snore and. And speak. I can't breathe when I go to the gym. I have to literally wear a. A nose thing.

But that's the internal cranial one. That's like the. That's the. Mine is literally just this. It's like just this piece here. It's nothing inside. So they have to really break your nose. And that's why I haven't done it yet. They have to break your nose. They put the slither up there to form it and then put it. Oh, yeah. And because literally, like, half my. When I go to breathe in through my nose, one side completely closes. And yeah, it's.

My nose is up. It doesn't really look like much, but at the end of the day, like, it's still affecting me, you know, And I claimed it. I did all that. I think I didn't really get anything for it. And it's like, what the. Like, let's get this going, you know, Everything else. Everything else got moved along pretty quickly. But it's like, you miss an appointment, like, you're screwed. They don't care about what's going on in your life. Like, you better get them done. And I know there's laws in a lot of the states that require them to whatever job. If you have some type of VA appointment, they have to give you that time off. Not saying it's going to be paid, but they have to give you opportunity to go to those appointments.

My, my, my gut is telling me that he's trying to take away from the conventional guy and give it this off. And he doesn't think the conventional guys deserve sleep.

And it's been for the last couple years since that second amendment stuff, I guarantee you, out of Spike, because one doesn't have to do with the other. And there's literally things that I need to get done. Pain management, dental, whatever it is. But a lot of people will get this money and never schedule any appointments to fix these problems and that.

It's basically going to lead in front of the vehicle. So whatever that runs over, the vehicle will run over. And it's supposed to detect, you know. Yeah, it'll. Well, yeah, but what they did was. Well, what they did was they offsetted it and they put the pressure plate about 20ft up and then the IED 20ft back. So I hit the plate, we took it. Mine roller ended up on top of the turret where I was at. I was fine. I just. My head hurt. I just couldn't breathe. And then once everything was said and done, like somebody was like, dude, your nose is all up. I was like, oh, cool, whatever.

This was an app called Inshot on my phone that I'm comfortable with. And it took a lot of work.

I was the original mean dude. You know how I did it? Xerox machine and overlaying, cutting out. It was tough back in the day, dude.

I mean, see, what. What we would do with Counterculture Studios there is. You're. If you done those thumbnails, Tyler, we would look at them and then we would enhance the bit. So we would add, like, light sources, shadows, shading, different text to what everyone else has and just make it like, particularly for that person's brand. So although that. Those thumbnails are good and everyone can do them, I don't think everyone can do what we do, as in make it personable and make them stand out. So it is. It's amazing. But it doesn't replace creativity, I don't think.

So therefore when it breaks, and it will, because you use it a lot. It's not break as in like it's got to be replaced. Things will fail in it. Things will snap. Things are not meant to be. And so you now have to learn that device and it becomes a full time job just maintaining an industrial machine. Which is okay. If that is what you do all day, every day.

Are you sure that hat's sewn on and not glued on with a heat press? No, I'm dick. I'm dead serious. A lot of people think they're sewed on because they see the design stitching, but they're actually heat pressed on.

But yeah, I'm super excited about, you know, being able to pump out hats. What we didn't get to was when he asked, are you gonna do hats? Is that. Yes, but my goal, and I've talked to Jay a little bit about this, so I hate when I. When I haven't talked to Mike, I don't like to do this on Anti Hero. Like when I'm like, this is what we're gonna do. Because like sometimes I can see Mike looking at me and I'm like, I think we're gonna do this, Mike. Right? You're on board. But I haven't talked to Jay extensively about this, but I want to really creep on. This shirt was successful. Maybe next month. And then like we. There's things I want to do. I want to do stickers, I want to do flags. It was very not crazy designs. You take the same design and make flags. Flags cost a lot of money here in the States, but guess What? They're about 11. 11 to 12. No, actually they're 11 to 13 to have made and then you have to sell them at like 25 to get any profit. Where if we could get the same nylon flags made. One sided, right? Not double. Doesn't need to Be thick. Just no one puts them outside, dude. They're indoor flags. They're team room flags. Those. If we could get them cheaper than 12 bucks, bro, we could sell them way cheaper.

You can, you can. And I think what. We'll just move like. Like you say, bit by bit, rather than trying to solve it all at once.

Stickers. I know. We're so used to an America in America. I, like, I use a company called Anley Flags, right? They charge $13 per flag. If you order 100, they knock it down to like $9 a flag, right? But no one's ordering 100 flags, so. And then you've got to wait, like 40 days for them, dude, unless you pay an extra $35 or $40 to have it quicker than that. But there's no guarantee they can't give you a date. They're just going to prioritize you, right? And sticker companies, right? Sticker companies in America. You can. I'm saying sticker company right now. I need stickers. In the next 10 minutes, my phone is going to be nothing but ninja sticker sticker mule and that. There's tons of places to get great stickers. They're so expensive. Eve, Jay is able to go out there and go, I can find our stickers. We could get 300 stickers for 17 cents a piece.

Well, I'm just checking flags, and I'm looking at flags for like a dollar.

And that's what I'm saying. Will they make them like. Well, they.

So and so Jay has that ability that's like saying, I need this transcribed in French. You have to have somebody that speaks French to do that. Jay knows this stuff because this is what Jay does as a profession is he shops around internationally and. And is able to look at these things and knows where to go and knows how to talk to these people and knows the risk, knows the frauds, knows not to look at this and look at that. So it's all super exciting stuff. Flag stickers, hats. That's the. I believe that's the bread and butter of an apparel line outside of the shirts. And I really want to get those squared away before we start. And maybe like one or two other designs that we sit down and do. We've both tossed each other designs for shirts back and forth, and I like them, but we haven't really decided on a second design, so. But yeah, that's the exciting part in hats, dude. Everybody wants. First off, you want a hat. I don't really know Anybody that's like, I need the premier hat. It has to be perfect. And everybody just wants to slap a counterculture hat on because they want to support the boys, right? So why would I get premier hat where I've gotta charge 35 for a hat to see any profit? It's insane. So you look at hats, they come out eight, nine bucks a hat.

And then you probably get the. The hatch. You already do the embroidered hats. If you want to order 20, 30, 40, 50 at a time from China.

Yeah, I would have to order them wholesale. Then I'd have to take them to get printed on and each hat or.

[Jay]

Well, no, they'll do it there.

[Tyler (Anti Hero)]

Yeah, I would have to take them. And then each hat would end up being, you know, with shipping and labor and the embroidery, it ended up being 20 bucks a hat. And then you got to sell them for 30 to make any profit. Because what people gonna do, they're gonna use discount codes, right? We have. We have discount codes ranging. You might as well say that your

prices are 15% less than that.

So that's the hard part about. But having you on board where you're like, I, I found this. We're able to sit down, we're able to take it one step at a time and really save money. Because you might think like, oh, they're saving, what, a couple bucks here and there? Well, if we really scale this counterculture idea with the media side as well, with all the podcasts and the merch designs and what people want to do, like, hey, can my podcast get a shirt? When we start really scaling this whole business, the apparel side of it, that couple bucks per unit is going to be seen tenfold. It's not just going to be $6 for six shirts. Hey, we saved 36 bucks. It's gonna be $6 for 600 shirts. Look how much money we saved. So that's kind of like.

I mean, I use the same as If I say 50p on sending out a parcel, and I send out 100 parcels a week, that's. Or 200 parcels a week. That's like a hundred dollars a week I've saved.

Yeah.

So it works like. Yeah. Rather than looking at the actual. They've only saved a dollar. Look at the percentages saved. Like, you've saved 25 to 50 on your. Your costs. So. Yeah.

Well, I'm stoked, man. I know you're excited about it. I am, too. So we'll sit down and I'm gonna start printing shirts tonight. We're doing it in house. I Never thought I'd do that ever. Never thought I'd do that.
