There's. There's definitely an afterlife. And. And I didn't think there was one because I was so. You know what my problem was? What I did for a living became who I was. And, like, when that happens, that's kind of dangerous. And there's an afterlife where you decompress and it took me a while to get out of roll and all that stuff, but I live a very happy, peaceful life.

Patreon supporter Johnny Edwards says, after everything you and your family went through during and after the investigation and you knowingly and, and now knowing how it ended, would you do it again? Very good question.

That's a good question.

That's a great question. And so like, like for all of us, we stand up to the predators on behalf of the good and innocent people in the communities we serve. If we don't do it, if we're not going to do it, who's going to do it? Is your landscaper going to do it? Is your mechanic going to do it? Is your dentist going to do it? It's like what we signed on for. It's a contact sport and that's like, like if it, if you're not going to do it, who's going to do it?

It's a great point. So I'm assuming the answer is yes, you would?

[Jay Dobbins]

Yes, absolutely. You know what? I would do it better because in hindsight, I know where all my mistakes were. I know where all my failures and my flaws and my humiliations and my shame is that I eliminate that and do it cleaner. But yeah, I'd do it again.

Nate Taylor asks, who's the best defensive back that you played against in college?

[Jay Dobbins]

Oh, my goodness, that's a good question.

Someone did their homework.

[Jay Dobbins]

You know what? I had some great ones. David Fulcher was at Arizona State who played for the Bengals for. And the guy was like a linebacker playing safety. There was a couple, actually, we played LSU in Baton Rouge and they had two safeties that were both all Americans that were 225 pound safeties. So they definitely made you look around a little bit.

[Drew]

Was, was Death Valley as rocking as. Were you prepared for a place that, that loud, rare.

[Jay Dobbins]

I'll tell you what they're. My favorite story about that is that we went out in pregame and warmed up and it was drizzling. Come back into the locker room before the game, come back out and we're bouncing, we're getting ready to take the field and it had stopped raining and we were all happy. Like, we're from Arizona, right? Rain is like, we don't know what rain is. Hey, it stopped raining and then it said like, oh, you know, it's starting to drizzle again. Someone smelled their hand and they're like, man, that's not rain. And we looked up and they were pissing on us.

[Jay Dobbins]

So that was like, that's a pretty intimidating opening to take the field where their fans are taking a leak on you out of the.

[Drew]

And if you guys don't know and you, you will Monday. But Jay was also an all conference wide receiver for the University of Arizona. All conference. Is that the correct. Is that correct term?

[Jay Dobbins]

Back in the day when slow, small white boys could surv.

Shane B. After you got pulled by the 8, pulled by the ATF, how long did it take to get out of the mindset and feel like yourself again? And just out of curiosity, did you know any of the guys from the San Jose, California chapter?

[Jay Dobbins]

I. I ran hot for a long time. Like, I had a chip on my shoulder for a long time. I've let that fall off and, and have chilled out a little bit. And like, I don't know if Ray Ray folks was in San Jose or if he was in Vallejo or he was up there, but that dude who's a very famous Hell's angel fighter, actually was the guy that kicked off the Harrah's riot and literally kicked it off with a kick, with a judo kick. When, when you're squared up with someone and then they judo kick your drink out of your hand, it's about ready to get on. And Ray Ray, folks, was like a dangerous cat.

[Brent]

Okay. All right, Peter O. What's up? Peter, since ATF is the fifth largest group of special agents in federal law enforcement, and it goes through FBI, hsi, dea, atf, do you think ATS special agents would be more effective if they were reassigned to other federal agencies like DEA to work armed drug trafficking, FBI to work illegal guns and explosives, and HSI to work imports and exports of guns? Caveat. They would still be a need for ATF as a, as a compliance agency for alcohol, tobacco and FFL regulation, gun traces, etc.

[Jay Dobbins]

That's the way it sounds like it's going. Like ATF is going to be isolated and become that regulatory agency. And then the agents may be spread out, divided, but we always took a lot of pride in being America's violent crime police. So guns and bombs, you know, lead to narcotics and all the other things. But, like, if we could focus those guys back to what they were great at, which is chasing violent crime, wherever that is or however that is is, is the most effective way to use those agents.

[Brent]

Yeah, my problem, and I suggest that you do not follow this is I always took. I always took policies and, and, and the rules and procedures as suggestions. And the people that run things and make decisions and supervise you, they never found any humor in that.

No, I'd imagine they. They wouldn't.

No. Like I got told many times, like, the only guy who thinks you're funny is you.

But however, if they were in your shoes, they probably would have done the same thing.

Yeah. You know what? Like, I definitely pushed the envelope to the very seams and tried to bust the seams at times.

[Drew]

Yeah. And I would. Maybe not the very same thing, but they wouldn't exactly follow all, all the rules because it. Because when. When they have to carry it out, they'd find out how ridiculous the rules are.

Yeah. You know what? You're. You're asking people to make split second real time decisions, tactical decisions in the field, and you don't always have time to make a call to headquarters and get permission.

[Drew]

Yeah, absolutely.

Final one from Patreon. What was your anxiety level while infiltrating the Hells Angels? Knowing that not only they would be suspicious of newcomers, but also the fact that they were at war with the outlaws at the time as well. You could have been killed by inside or outside forces at that time, so the anxiety level had to be through the roof.

[Jay Dobbins]

Yeah, we talked about this. Which you guys will hear on Monday, is that the Hells Angels have a pattern in practice and a reputation and a history of killing their own if they feel compromised or betrayed or turned on. It's not a standalone event. It's a history of those events. So if anxiety is zero at the lowest and 10 at the highest. I operated at 15.

What's your take on him as a teammate that now?

Well, I don't know what's going on.

So I intentionally, kind of intentionally left off the. The Kyle Morgan thing kind of for time because they called out so many dudes so quick and I want to spend some time on. On some other guys. So I'll just say this. They didn't clarify what their problem was with Kyle. So I, I don't. I don't really know. And that was. That was on them to clarify. I mean, if you're gonna call someone out. Yeah, like you have to tell us why. And we didn't get that. So I don't know.

[Jay Dobbins]

Yeah, absolutely. Heard of them, familiar with them? I never crossed paths with them, but they were some rough boys. There's no doubt if you're. If your old man was riding with him. He's, you know, he put in his. His battle. His battle time.

All right. Connor says, am I crazy for going into law enforcement at 37 years old? What did the couch say?

No. Well, no, I think. Well, I'm one. But I think that you're too mature for the job at this point.

For the culture of law enforcement to be that age, you're going to try to make sense of things and they don't. That they want some young dumb kid they can brainwash and push him through.

How about this side of the argument though? Like what. What better job can you do as a 37 year old? I mean, it's like you're gonna get frustrated as long as you know that going in and you're willing to accept that. Like what. What better job are you gonna do a 37 year old to go. Go run after bad guys?

[Brent]

It's frustrating. When I was a field training Officer, sometimes people of that age are very, very hard to work with. And I was always. I learned in the army when I was young. Everybody has to be led differently. So I'm not going to speak to someone twice my age because I'm only 17.

Yeah, twice, you're right.

[Brent]

But I'm just saying. I'm just saying, like. Like somebody older than me and wiser, I'm not gonna speak to them like I would.

Well, everybody's wiser.

So I'll take the other side of that, though. Like, I admire you for even considering it.

Yeah.

[Jay Dobbins]

And. And getting out there and wanting to do something about it. You know, dangerous boys go to dangerous places, man. It doesn't matter how old you are.

I think it depends on why you're getting into it. If you're getting into insurance.

[Drew]

Yeah. That's the why.

Because you have nothing else to do, then you're just going to be as much of a dead body as. Or a dead fish as everybody else. But if you are mature and you have some drive to try to change something or make it better, but you're just going to kill your soul trying to do it. So it depends on how much you're willing to give up.

I agree with that. What's the why behind it? If it's. And if it's the rundown bad guys, where else you're going to go?

[Brent]

Yeah, yeah, that's a good point. The guys that join for insurance and job security and stuff, even young, though, not even old. Just anybody who joins a job for that is a liability. What are you smiling? I can't tell what you're doing.

All right, Camp Landing is right in the right and slab in the middle of Florida. Just north of a Gainesville. Not that I know of. But it wouldn't surprise me if. If another squadron had hit that. They have a pretty good Mount City there. I know the rangers go down there and hit it all the time.

Yeah. And I spent a lot of time there when I was in 20th group. What was the last time I was there there as a contractor? Actually, I did a training exercise at. At Camp Landing, and maybe four years.

Ago, they have a really solid training unit there that reaches out to law enforcement. So they'll come train.

It used to be called fcta, Florida Counter Drug Training Academy is what it used to be called. Yes, they. And it used to be run by Green Berets and almost all long tavers. And they've essentially kind of pushed the Green Berets out of that program because the Green Berets were always busy and deploying and going to schools. And so they brought in like regular National Guard people to run it. And I assure you, there's got to be a reduction in quality of training. But in fact, I worked there for a little bit. I put on a couple courses for SWAT teams as fcta, and they have. That's their training academy. And their counterpart was an operational detachment called Kadota Counter Drug oda. And we did some really cool stuff with like reconnaissance with. Within law enforcement, because we can only do reconnaissance, but that was free to a law enforcement.

I was a U.S. marshals task force, and they send you a week there as well, the task force school. And it's a little different because they're more military type, building clearing and tactics versus police. But overall, it's a. It's a good facility.

There's and good training and the price is right.

And Megan Kelly, of course, she's not dumb. She's like, really? He's like, yeah. She's like, well, who would have done that? He's like, I don't know. You tell me. Who owns helicopters? Well, don't just like, throw that, that little bit out there. And then, and then, and then just, and then just like, reel back a little bit. And so basically what he's saying is, he goes on, I'll paraphrase him, because he does explain a little bit, is he believes the war machine didn't want to end and this is his conspiracy theories theory, and that they wanted to continue the war, and if they got, if they got ubl, the war would be over. So they sent in a helicopter unit to go get him out of there. If you think for a second that President Bush didn't want UBL's head right here, right now and would ever play that game be like, you know what? Let's let them live a little longer, and we're going to give Barack Obama the Credit, then you're an idiot. There's no way President Bush doesn't get that guy as soon as he. As soon as we possibly can.

But there's a shelf life of those secrets, and they will get out. They will tell a friend, and that friend will tell a friend, and the rumor mill starts and that. And. And people will. Would have heard about it. So, Jamie, thank you for saying what we all know, and I hate it. It's going to look like tier one drama now and more like, he said, she said stuff. But guess what? Shrek started it. So what are we supposed to do? Are we supposed to stand back and be like, well, a guy lied, and we don't want to look childish by looking like, you know, I'll. I'll use, you know, words that people have said in the comment section. If we're like, oh, this is like the veteran view. They're just. It's just chicks, you know, talking back and forth. What do you expect us to do? You expect us just to stand back there and let a guy blatantly lie about things he's done? Or do you expect someone to stand up and say, actually, that guy's a liar, and we. And we can't have someone like that representing us. And in a weird way, that. They charged us with this conspiracy. We can't get two people to agree on where to go to lunch. There was, I mean, there was some truth to that. There was some truth, I mean, to that response. Like, wait a minute, like you've got us all in this massive conspiracy. We can't get two guys to agree on where to go. Go to lunch together.

Yeah, I know it's it and it. And it is. You know, I say that, but, you know, I say it's a lose lose situation. Like, it, it, it, it really is. Like, Mike, as a, as a, same way I say with law enforcement, I'm an outsider looking in, you know, as an outsider looking in to this, like, how do you feel like, about, about that predicament?

Well, they're, they're doing exactly what we asked them to do when you started doing this is to say something. And so I think I. The answer to your question is, the right answer is to, Is to say that's not true, you know, and rebuttal it a little bit. If you, if you. I, I can't stand it when there's our discussion today when people know something's wrong and not right and people are lying, but you don't say anything because you're like, oh, I just don't want to be part of that.

One of my favorite quotes is a standard you walk past is the standard you accept. So if you have something in front of you that's. And you don't say anything, you're endorsing it to a degree.

You let an walk around being an and you don't say anything. You're partly responsible for them being an. You have to. Yeah, we people that are of higher intelligence and higher accountability owe it to the rest of the world that isn't to call those people out.

Well, I'll tell you why I put it up for discussion a little bit. It's one thing when, before we started doing some of these episodes, before Rob, before Tim. And it's easy. I'm not saying that the standards change. The standards are the standards. It's still kind of how I feel. But it's different once you walk down that road and you feel the massive amount of backlash that comes with telling the, the truth. And it, you know, it doesn't mean that, you know, necessarily, like, we're tired of telling the truth, but we've now walked that. And it's, it's not as easy, you know, as it sounds like, oh, you're going to tell the truth and everyone's going to love you for telling the truth. I mean, God, absolutely not the case.

It was, I think, surviving Rob o' Neal, I don't want to say gave us credit, but we survived the Rob O' Neill because like you said, it was a 5050 about people saying, like, why do it? Why start this drama? Why are you guys doing this? You know, he's an American hero and, you know, 99.9 of everything he did was amazing and better than most men. And we just happen to talk about the one thing.

Why? It's on him. To me, it's on him not to. Not to take that 0.1% and turn it to. He could have been 100 across the board. Why fabricate or why tell a story for your own personal gain?

Which is, which is what happened. You know, Matt Bissonnette said it in his book. You won't find a SEAL Team Six guy with it with a different story. Except for Rob o' Neill. Because unless you're the only guy that killed Osama bin Laden, that's the guy who gets to go shooting with Kid Rock. If you're the only guy that killed Osama bin Laden, that's the guy that gets $50,000 speaking engagement.

And then he sobers up and says, oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that. If it, if, if it's drinking. We don't know. We don't know why he does the things he does other than, other than he has. Look at this. He took that down. Do you really want me to tell Red's story? I'll tell it. I kept that MFer out of prison. I'll tell you. Tell it. The guy who actually shot Osama bin Laden and that you've been lying about for years, taking his glory. That's what you. You're. You're gonna put that tweet up and guess what? Why do you think he. Why do you think he took it down as fast as he did?

Do you confront it? Do you bring it up? Do you. Do you allow it to happen? And that is not. That isn't. That isn't the guy that. I think you want to start poking openly, because that'll be the last speaking engagement you get if Red. If Fred finally wants to talk, and stupid tweets like that will get it.

I don't know. I really don't know anymore. Because Tim Kennedy had people on ground with him, teammates that said I was there. None of that happened. And he still.

And he still has a million followers.

Yeah, he's still. I mean, I looked and he still went to the White House still in the white. Hasn't gone down. I thought maybe from 1.5 he would go to at least 1.4 million followers. Nope.

But here's the problem. We just talked about this earlier. With losing accounts and social media, those companies can guide everything set up now can be guided away or guided around being actually getting out. So when you say something on social media, it doesn't mean everybody's gonna see it. Just like your show got pulled. Like, they can make things happen where not enough people see it, and then it's kind of rumor mill. And that's the problem with the technology is they. They have the ability to route stuff.

But you're absolutely right. We didn't just get one of the guys on the ground from. From the. From Tim's Afghan experience parents. We didn't get just two guys on the ground. We got three guys on the ground all telling the same story, and it still wasn't enough. I mean, don't get me wrong. I mean, the. The sponsorship list is. Is long. And, you know, he paid the price on sponsorship. But. But the truth is, with popularity, popularity will get. If we'll get you more sponsors.

And they're like, oh, we probably should. I just, I just, you know, not yet. And you. And every time Rob pulls something like this, at one point, Rob's gonna do something so stupid. They're, they're finally go, like, you know what? Enough's enough. Like, we have to stop this. So, Rob, please continue doing that. You've never had one SEAL Team Six guy come out publicly and be like, yep, he was the guy. That's why the, the, the Netflix series, the of the UBL raid. He's a little bit older than me, and I have nothing but, but good things to say about Jamie from what I know about him and from what his teammates say about him. Same thing with Kyle. They didn't really get into detail about what their problem is with Kyle. So I again, like, they, they didn't do us any favors. But by being able to really analyze this and saying, well, what they said is true, that shouldn't happen. Was Kyle fired from the unit? Yes.
