Unnamed Co-Host or Pastor (1:38)
No more empty churches. So let's partner with Church Candy and get our churches full. The glory of Jesus. Let's go. We're in Exodus, chapter 35, 38. Only got a couple chapters today. Chapter 35, 36, 37, 38. If you haven't done the reading, you want to go ahead and do the reading. Pause the recording, pause the video, pause the audio and go do the reading for today. Solid reading. Now, if you've done the reading, then you're going to immediately notice that this is really, really, really repetitive. Okay, You've heard all this stuff before. Okay, before the golden calf incident, Moses is going to receive instructions on how to build the tabernacle. And if you're not carefully listening, then you could think that this is the exact same thing, but it's not. This is actually them building the tabernacle. The only issue is that to prove that they build it, they. That they built it correctly, it's a literally verbatim copy and paste from the instructions. So the instructions are just. And God said to Moses, build it this cubit by this cubit and this curtain by this curtain, and blah, blah. And then when you get to this part of the book, it's going to be. And so the Israelites built it this cubit by this cubit and this curtain by this curtain. And it's going to be copy and paste. But the manifestation or the building of it as opposed to the instructions around the building of it. So it's gonna seem really, really repetitive. And a lot of people check out during this part of Exodus. Once you get To Exodus chapter 36, I believe we're just gonna start getting. Yep, Exodus, chapter 36, it's. It's just copy and paste from earlier in the book, like in the 20s. So let's kind of give some. Let's kind of like, help us orient ourselves in what's going on, like always. I'm gonna give you a context clue, gonna give you a nerdy nugget, gonna give you a timeless truth, and I hope it's gonna add value. Here's our context clue. We're gonna get a lot of instructions around the building of the tabernacle. And just so that you get this, it may not be apparent from reading, we're gonna have an outer court, an inner court, and a. Now, the reason that the structure of this tabernacle is important is because you and I are made in the image of God. Now, remember before we talked about atonement, so we talked about at one mint. Now, this tabernacle has three parts. An outer court, an inner court, and a holy of holies. Although it has three parts, it's a cohesive whole. It is one. It's a unified whole. It's three, but it's one. God is also three and one. The triune being, He's a trinitarian being. And if it weren't for the Trinity, we wouldn't have love. Okay? The Bible says God is love, and if there weren't three members of the Trinity, he couldn't be love. The reason that he is love is because the Father loves the Son, the Son loves the Spirit, the Spirit loves the Father, the Spirit loves the Son, so on and so on and so forth. But there's never disagreement in the Trinity. It's a cohesive whole. It's a picture of three and one. Three distinct parts, but complete shalom. Wholeness. Okay? God says, let us make man in our image, which means you and I are also triune beings. In the same way that God is Father, Son, Holy Spirit. In the same way that the tabernacle is outer court, inner court, holy of holies, you, my friend, me, we are made three in one outer court. It's everything you can see. That's my race. That's my ethnicity. That's my height or lack thereof. That's my hair color, hair texture, eye color. That's my gender. Well, we can make an argument that is that my gender is. Also goes deeper than just my outward appearance. But that's a conversation for another time. So we got an outer court, and we got a lot of Christians who will say things like, my outward appearance doesn't matter. I just want God judges my heart. Man looks at the outward appearance. And I would say, you may want to open up Exodus and read the description of this tabernacle because it seems like the outward appearance of the temple is really important. And I don't know if we're being biblically accurate to say that I can be sloppy and dress however I want and not care for the outer temple and still think that I'm doing a good job as being a priest over this temple. There are times where young adults will ask me about being single and being married, and I'll tell them, well, marriage is a choice. And a lot of times in the Christian space, we emphasize gaining favor with God. There's so many things that you could do to gain favor with God, but marriage isn't about gaining favor with God. Marriage is about gaining favor with another human being. And human beings care about how you smell, how you look, and you should care about those things. Your outer court matters. Okay? No one in the ancient world would say, it's just the holy of holies that matters. Absolutely not. That would be crazy there. The holy of holies is not the only part of the tabernacle that needs attention. The outer court has to have blue ribbon, has to have crimson yarn, has like. There's certain things about the outer court that God is specific about because its appearance matters. So we are. We have out of court, inner court. I would say this is your soul. It's the soul of a person, the seat of your emotions, your affections, your thoughts, your personality, your will. It's your soul. It's your inner court. Okay, out of court, inner court, then. You're holy of holies. That's your spirit. It's the thing that makes you you. It's your you ness. It's your uniqueness. It's the part of you that God has known forever in the part of you that is gonna be eternally safe in the arms of God forever. Okay? It's your spirit. In the same way that the Trinity is never in disagreement with each other, the goal of atonement, or one mint, is that the three parts of you are never in disagreement. I remember when I was believing God for children spiritually, I believed I was a father. I believe there was a mantle of fatherhood. All my life, everybody around me got dad vibes from me all the time. Kids in the youth group called me dad. Everybody around me. I was in my late 20s. Everybody referred to me as Dad. I was a spiritual father. And I went, you know what? I refuse to live an incongruent life. Doctors are saying that we're infertile, we're never going to get pregnant. But I believe that there's something true in the spirit. Therefore, if it's true in the spirit, it needs to be true in my soul. If it's true in my soul, if it's true in my mind and my emotions, then it needs to be true in my body. So I remember commanding my body to stop being in rebellion against my spirit and my soul. And so I believe for healing. Healing is wholeness. Healing is shalom. Healing is atonement. And so when we look at the tabernacle, we shouldn't just see arbitrary instructions for building some tent out in the wilderness. No, we should actually see a blueprint. A blueprint that shows us something about God, that he's three in one. But then a blueprint that reveals something about us, that we're made in the image of this God. And if this God is three in one, we're also three in one. And if he operates in wholeness, shalom at 1 m, then we should operate in wholeness shalom and at 1 mitt. I never want to be playing tug of war on the inside of me where my mind thinks one thing, but my feelings feel another way. And my body wants to do one thing and my mind wants to do another thing. No, the goal of the human experience is for all of me to be in alignment with God's will, God's word, God's way, God's wisdom.
