Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily, and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verb. In Job 42:1 2, Job says to the Lord, I know that you can do anything and no one can stop you. When God speaks to Job, he asks questions, and Job's answer is pretty close to, I'll just stop talking now. Like we learned a few days ago, Job did stay faithful and true to God during his trials, but he's still a sinner. And now God is pointing out to Job his sin of arrogance in thinking that God owed him an explanation for his troubles. When Job understands that he's guilty of being arrogant and prideful, he repents. And that is a really important word to remember. Words remember. To repent is to turn away from sin and to turn toward God. Then God moves on to talk to Job's friends. He tells them how wrong they were. In chapter 42, verse 7, God says, I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me as my servant Job has. God tells them to give an offering to him, and Job prays for them, the friends who told Job things that weren't always true. As Job finishes praying, God sends rich blessings back to Job, twice as much as he had before. God blesses Job with riches, animals, children and grandchildren, and a long life. God loves to restore, and that's another word to remember. To restore is to return something or someone back to how it was before. In Job's case, God first restores Job's relationship with him, then he restores Job's relationships with his friends, and then he even restores Job's blessings twice what they were before. God loves to restore, and he's where the joy is.
