Hey Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's Bible verse. In Leviticus 9:6, Moses says, this is what the Lord has commanded you to do so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you. In a seven day ceremony, Moses sets apart Aaron and his four son as priests. On the eighth day, God's people have their first service at the tabernacle. They make offerings and sacrifices and Moses and Aaron bless the people. And then the glory of the Lord comes down. Fire from heaven burns up the offering. The people shout for joy and praise to God as they should. Can you imagine how awesome it all was? And then sadly, Aaron's two oldest sons decide to ignore all of God's instructions because they think their way will be better. God won't stand for this and the two oldest sons die right away. God talks to Aaron directly and gives him specific instructions about being a priest. Moses tells the two sons who are left to make an offering and eat it. They make the offering, but because they're sad about losing their brothers, they don't eat it. At first Moses is angry about it. But when Aaron reminds Moses of the great loss he suffered, Moses is understanding. God shows compassion. And that's a great word to remember. Word remember compassion is kind concern for others when they're suffering over and over. In Exodus, God was compassionate when Moses asked him to be. Today when Aaron asks Moses for compassion, Moses shows it to him. The more time that Moses spends with God, the more he reflects God's character like a mirror. Have you noticed that in your own life? In what ways are you reflecting more of who God is? I'll tell you one way. You're here reading through a really tough book of the Bible because you love God and you want to know him more. You are learning more and more every day that he's where the joy is. Sam.
