Hey, Bible readers, I'm Ms. Emily and this is the Bible recap for kids. Today's bible verse, Leviticus 16:34 says this is a permanent law for to purify the people of Israel from their sins, making them right with the Lord. Once each year, God gives instructions about the Day of Atonement, which will happen once a year. It's the only time the high priest will enter the most holy place in the tabernacle where he will offer sacrifices as a penalty for the sins of the priests and the sins of the people. On the Day of Atonement, the priests bring two goats to the tabernacle. One goat takes the people's sins and is allowed to escape into the wilderness. The other goat is sacrifice to the Lord. Like we've seen over and over in the Old Testament, this points forward in God's plan. The first goat is the scapegoat and it represents Jesus who takes all of the people's sins. The second goat is the sacrifice. And guess what? It also represents Jesus, who was sacrificed to God on our behalf. God also tells his people how to be set apart in their relationships. For example, they're not allowed to marry anyone they're related to or act like someone else's wife is their own or marry someone of their own gender. These were all things that were happening among other groups of people around them. But God wants his people set apart like he is today. Vaja God atones. A few days ago, that was one of our words to remember. Let's review it now. Word to remember. Atone means to cover or to pay a penalty. The Day of Atonement points forward to Jesus who would come from the most holy place to take our sins and sacrifice himself to God. He would atone or pay the penalty for our sins. And he wouldn't just pay the penalty for the Israelites, but for everyone who would believe when he would atone for our sins, it wasn't just for one year, but forever. He's where the joy is. Don't forget to recap your recap with our seven Day Roundup. In this special episode, we'll zoom out to look back on everything we've learned and we'll wrap it all up into a big picture. We'll revisit our words to remember so that we can apply God's word to our lives. We'll see you at the seven Day Roundup. It.
