Today's Bible verse Job 14:5 says, you.
A
Have decided the length of our lives.
B
You know how many months we will live and we are not given a minute longer. Job's friends are back with their terrible advice. And this time they tell him his grief means that he does trust God. This isn't true at all. Grief and mourning are a part of life and they don't mean that the person who is grieving lacks faith. When we get to the New Testament, we'll learn that even Jesus, who is God, remember the Trinity grieved and mourned. Job is mourning and some of what he says in his speech is hard to read. When someone is going through a really hard time, they might spend more time thinking about how short life is and how death will come to everyone. If you're not also going through a hard time, it's tempting to want to rush them to find a silver lining or something good in spite of all the bad. Be patient with Job here. His suffering might be lasting longer than you want it to, and it is certainly lasting longer than he wants it to. God knows this, and as always, he has a plan. Today. Baja God is worthy of your trust. He's in charge of everything and he knows exactly how long we will all live. Even when we don't understand why someone has died, and even when we don't think it was the right time for someone to die, God is still in charge. Even in death, we can trust that he has the best plan for all of us because he's where the joy is.
