Welcome back to the Bill and Doug Show. It's around the Shoe. It's a Monday, and we're talking about uniforms and looks and vibes, and you look good, you feel good, you play good, you talk good. Look how good we look on the show. Douglas Mason, Bill Landis, joined each week by two outstanding media members. We'll also talk about turf for a little bit. Josh Paloha and Chase Brown, both of eleven Warriors. Chase is back for a second visit. Josh is here for the first time. Josh, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to join us on around the Shoe.
C
Thank you, guys. I appreciate you having me. I'm a long time listener, I guess, long time watcher, whatever you want to say. I, I guess I watch you guys on YouTube. So I listen and watch. But yeah, I'm glad I got to finally join you guys for. Talk about some jerseys. Talk about some turf.
B
Yeah, yeah. I mean, it is. It's turf time. It's jersey time. And Chase, we appreciate you taking time to, to come back and join us. You're a Jersey guy. You're a uniform guy, right, Chase?
D
Oh, yeah. Love the uniforms. Love what Ohio State's doing on that front. So I'm excited to talk about it.
B
So this is one of these things where this has been something that, that I've adapted to over time, of two decades of doing this. It's like, you know, it's like, ah, yeah, you're an old man. It's like, do I. It. It doesn't matter what we think. Fans care about how Ohio State looks. Fans care about helmets, they care about jerseys, they care about pants, they care about stripes, they care about sleeves, they care about what their favorite players, what their favorite team looks like. Bill Landis. And that makes it important. And it is one of these things where, like, anybody who poo poos this, like, it. You're wrong, right? Because all this stuff matters because, like, kickoff times matter, parking matters, concession stand prices matter, what your team wears matters, Announcers matter. Because, Bill, all of this affects the enjoyment for the average fan. And so, of course it matters.
A
Yeah. The thing that's interesting, too, to me, like, about the, the uniform stuff, is like, not only is Ohio State deciding what its athletes wear, it's deciding kind of what the fans wear.
D
Right?
B
Like, people.
A
People are buying these jerseys and wearing them to games. And, you know, it's not that there was anything, you know, absurdly wrong with Ohio State's jerseys in the past, but people get passionate about these things. And I think rightfully so sometimes in the past, Ohio State has had some silly jerseys. It's. It's, you know, normal. Home and road, I think, have been. Have been nice. But there was a specific thing about those jerseys that the fans were very passionate about, and it sounds like Ohio State listened to them.
B
So we have a substack. We do this show every week. We do it here on YouTube. We do it on your podcast feeds. We're so happy to do it. So happy to bring it to you. Bill and I do more during the week. Over on Substack. We write. We do two extra shows for subscribers only over there. Billanddugosu.substack I surveyed those substack subscribers and asked them a couple questions about this that will work in during the show. The first question was, like, how much do you care about this? How much do you care about jerseys and uniforms and what Ohio State looks like? The choices I gave were, I care a lot. I care some. I care a little. I don't really care. 38%. I care a lot. 42%. I care some. So that's eight out of 10. That's 80% of people, Josh, who, like, really are kind of invested in this. 12%. I care a little. 9%. I don't really care, Josh. Just like, as you think about this, talk about this, like, does that sound about right to you, that at least, like, 80% of fans, like, have some pretty substantial feelings about the look?
C
Yeah, I mean, I'd say that's right. Most fans would just be like, I don't care what my team where it looks like on the field as long as they win. But it's also cool to look cool while winning, too.
B
Yeah. And Chase, like, isn't that, like, the winning is kind of assumed to some degree at Ohio State? So again, it's like our Purdue fans, like, oh, my God, I can't believe the mustard shade of the helmets this year. What are we doing this? It's like, dear Lord, could we win four games? But Chase, like, when. When stuff's going well, then it's okay. You have time to invest in stuff like this. Right. I mean, you know, like, you would find, right, Chase, fans care.
D
Yeah, I would say fans care because to Josh's point, when you're winning football games, you're able to kind of find the margins to continue making your football team better. I think that Ohio State now is in a place where they're looking for any edge possible to win over recruits to continue building a program that is a perennial national championship. Contender. And so even just by putting Grace leaves on a uniform, I think that gives you fan buy in. That gives kind of an excitement around the program that's going to hopefully then lead to wins, I think is the mindset behind it and continued success for everyone to be happy about.
B
And listen, if you're an Ohio State fan who is watching this or listening to this and you don't care, that's fine too. Maybe you skip this around the shoe. We'll talk more ball. Again, if you don't want to talk about sleeves and stripes and, and color rush and whatever, that's fine. But just understand like as you don't care, which is fine, there's a lot of people who do, which is why we're investing an entire show into this. And we'll start with this first question. Josh Palloha, we will begin with you. What word or phrase would you use to describe the return of this gray or silver silver sleeve stripe that was changed? It had always been there. It vanished in 2006. It has popped up on occasion, special occasions since then. It feels like it has been a talking point over the years of this sleeve. Right? It, it maybe was like more gray before, maybe it's more silver now, but it's back after 20 years and it's on every version of the jerseys. If you're watching on the YouTube show, you can get a look at that, that shoulder sleeve stripe deal that is going on there. Josh, how would you describe what this means?
C
I guess I'll just use one word and just say finally, because 20, for the last 20 years, Ohio State's biggest games. I guess not biggest games, but like the national championships and all that. They've all, they've always brought back the gray stripes, which obviously means that the gray stripes mean a lot. So I just for them to be back permanently on every jersey, it's just like one of those things where 20, 20 years too long. But I'm glad they're back.
B
Like when you say finally, Josh, do you, do you feel like you or, or people that you know or just fans that you interact with were literally like, please, when will this happen? Like, someday my prince will come, but I don't know when. But that people were actually waiting for it?
C
I think so. I mean, Twitter is probably a bad use of like fans are waiting for it because Twitter is just. Well, I guess X is if you want to call it that. But yeah, I just feel like a lot of fans love the throwback look. I mean, I still have a jersey with Grace leaves on it. It's not. It's not only just a throwback, it's just like a cooler look. I feel like.
B
Yeah, okay. All right, so finally, for Josh, Chase, was it. What is it for you? The sleeves are back.
D
Oh, I was gonna go with perfection. I think that it is something for Ohio State fans. Yeah, Chef's kiss. You can give it that as well. It's something fans have wanted for a long time. I have to give credit where it's due. I think Bo Bishop is probably the pioneer in the movement to get these silver stripes back on the uniform. So for years of listening to his show on 97 1, knowing probably the gratification that he's feeling right now that Ohio State has finally listened to the movement, that I would give him credit with kind of charging it has to feel great for him. But, you know, it's. It's something that brings back nostalgia. I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I think that when you're able to reflect fondly on the years where Ohio State was wearing these uniforms with these stripes, thinking about iconic players wearing these uniforms, you are now able to kind of set the course for what the next era of Ohio State football is going to look like. And so it's fun to think about. Okay, 20 years from now, it's been 20 years since Ohio State had these stripes. 20 years from now, who are we going to reflect upon as being those iconic players in the Ohio State? I guess you're looking at players like Jeremiah Smith and Julian say, and Bo Jackson, and you even have like, Jermaine Matthews Jr. Kenyatta Jackson, or these are guys who are showing off these uniforms who's going to kind of make their legacy, make their stamp that we'll look back upon. I just think it's a fun thing that gets people engaged. I know the players love them, and I know that the fans are probably going to love them too when they show them off this fall.
B
Who. Who epitomizes that old gray shoulder sleeve stripe is. Is it like Andy Katzenmore? Is it Chris Spielman, like, who pops to mind? Chase.
D
Andy Katzenmire, for sure. That picture. There's one iconic picture of him where he has that visor on and you can see. See the reflection of. I believe it was the Missouri game where you can see the reflection of players is one of the coolest photos I think I've seen. And him wearing that gray, that silver stripe is immediately comes to mind for me.
B
Okay. And just to double check us here, in the old days, Josh Would we have called this a gray stripe on the shoulder, but now we're calling it silver? Does that matter at all? Like, where are we here?
C
I don't really think it matters. And, okay, it's probably, like, it's more shiny, I guess, to match the helmet, but silver gray.
B
I mean, okay, you gotta match your shiny.
C
Yeah.
B
You want your shinies to match. No, I get it. That makes sense. All right, Landis, what's your word or phrase here for the stripe?
A
Yeah, I agree with a lot of what's been said already. I would say it does feel sort of like, of. Of the time and kind of in. In sports apparel generally. I do think nostalgia is very much the route that a lot of teams are going down, even if you look like the NFL. Right. There's a lot of teams that are kind of going back to older color schemes, like reimagined versions of them. But I think color schemes that people sort of ask themselves, like, why did you ever go away from this in the first place? And. And this feels like what Ohio State is doing. It is. It is slightly reimagined. It's not. The flat grade is more of a metallic silver.
C
I'm.
A
I'm okay with that. It's like a. Whatever. It's a millennial version of. Of the gray sleeves, I guess. But. But I think it looks clean, right? I think the sort of even like, strip away the. The historical factor. The fact that this is what they used to look like and they changed just kind of looks. Right? It looks. It looks how the jersey, I think, like, should. Should look. If you knew nothing about Ohio State football and said, like, here are their colors, what should the jersey look like? I think you would say something like this, right? Like, and it's not like I didn't hate the helmet stripe on. On the sleeve, but I just think this looks much cleaner. So I'm. I'm glad it's back. Even if it is, whatever. Slightly different from. I think even the sleeves that people saw during. During these early college football playoff runs where it was like, oh, yeah, we used to wear those jerseys. They look cool. Can we bring those back full time, please? It's like, it's not exactly that, but it's close enough.
B
Yeah. It is funny to me, Josh, that if you were like, if. If you're just some outrage fan right now who doesn't exactly know the ins and outs of all the changes over the years, it's like, who got rid of these stripes? This is ridiculous. Was it Coop? Was it that guy? Coop, that outside, it's like, no, it's Trestle. Like the homegrown born and bred, live and die. Buckeye was like, yeah, no, we're not doing those. Like. And I don't know if he was in charge of it, but it happened in 2006, Josh. Like, I almost. I don't know if there's a little vitriol or like, like two decade venom of how dare this happen. Trusted it. Which is shocking to.
C
Yeah, I don't know if it's even that Trestle did it. It might have just been Nike did it. I don't know. I don't. I don't know, like, ins and outs, the behind the scenes stuff. Maybe something that Nike wanted them to do or not only wanted them to do, but, like, made them do. Yeah, I don't know the ins and outs of that, but I also. That's a good point. I honestly don't know because it's like
B
they had the thing of like Trestle unveiling the first jersey that doesn't have the gray stripe. And it's like, it's like Trestle's like, hey, here we are, everybody. It's like, what do we do? And again, maybe, you know, Nike gives you money and then Nike makes you do stuff for money. I mean, Nike makes you do stuff for money. I almost invited Chase Bow on this show, but it just would have been 50 minutes of B.O. but kiss, he's gotten enough. I was on a show on Friday and I thought it was going to be 15 minutes of Jersey talk, but he'd been doing. He'd already done 15 hours of Jersey talk, but it was. I don't know what he's going to do anymore because this one. And also, like the fans, was Chase, was this not near or at the top of the list of consistent Ohio State fan complaints? I don't know what people are going to be mad about anymore now that the sleeves are back.
D
Yeah. And the only other one is a topic we'll talk about later, and that's the turf. I feel like every year we. We come out of the season and we're talking about a player who took a fall or maybe an injury that happened during one of the preseason camps or spring football or whatever it is. And you can always just chalk it up to the turf. So those two things I would certainly say outside of the performance, which people tend to get pretty upset about if the Buckeyes don't perform to their standard, but those were among the top of the list.
B
So, like, if Ohio State loses to Texas Landis, you think Ryan Day is going to be like, but we brought the stripe back. I know, I know. Nobody wants to lose 56 to three, but look at our shoulders.
A
Yeah, I think you will. Right? I think everyone will have a really measured and reasonable response to that when he does. Yeah.
B
Buckeye Beard said I need to get used this is some of our subscribers that I'm going to use. A couple of their comments in the show Buckeye Beard. One of our subscribers said I need to get used to the more silvery gray. At first I didn't like it as much as the more matte gray version that was used previously, but it's growing on me, so that's good. QB draw. One of our loyal subscribers says, I've been waiting for them to get back to the heritage Buckeye stripe forever. And this is one of those things again, like this is representative. People have been waiting forever. The overall subscriber views on the shoulder stripe, the choices were I'm so excited. It's cool. It's fine. I don't like it. 51. I'm so excited. So more than half the people are like going crazy. 39. It's cool. Only 10 of the people like, it's fine. I don't know if I care that much. So again, 90 of the people excited for the shoulder strike. My word, strategic. Watch yourself. We brought back the stripe. You're excited. It's nostalgic. And also next week, Ohio State will announce its support for a 56 team playoff and that they're putting a dome on Ohio Stadium in 2031. Right. So just you give them a little old, you give them a little new. I did find it interesting that it was like, hey, it's like we're doing the black jerseys, the stripe. Hey, the stripes going to be on everything. And then they were like, also we have the tomato uniforms that we might wear this year, but they put the stripe out first. So like they did, right? Like Landis. It's all a balance. And I do think the world is changing so much. I'm not so sure that. Do you think it's possible Ross Bjork got here was like, give me something old to make these people happy because we're gonna. Stuff's blowing up.
A
Well, it's not. The thing we haven't discussed yet is, is which. Which brand is going to get to have its logo slapped on the shoulder too. Right? So it's like, oh, and like when. When we see that, it'll be jarring. But at Least you'll have the gray sleeves when you see that whatever it is, nationwide logo on the shoulder of an Ohio State jersey. So, like, yeah, there's a, there's like a, like a one for you, one for us kind of thing here happening, I think with this, this unveiling. Definitely.
B
And, and Josh, like, I'm not being cynical about that. I, I think it is actually very strategic to. There's going to be new things you're not going to like. But we also want to enhance and honor the traditional things. And I think college football right now, I mean, really, it is a constant balance of the future and the past, the new and the old. And so I think it is not a cynical, strategic move to bring back these shoulder stripes. But I think it is knowing that like, hey, there's going to be some stuff that people don't like. This is a little bit of a payoff. They should, probably, should have done it when they brought Rutgers in. They're like, oh my God, Rutgers is in the Big Ten. Here's your stripe. But like, this is like if you, if. Because if you're Ohio State, Josh, you can't completely give up on the past and on nostalgia and on tradition or you're punting your team, right? You're, you're killing your program. So you do have to be smart about things just like this.
C
Yeah, I mean, I, I agree with Bill too. Just wait until fans, I mean, Ohio State fans are always going to find a way. Some Ohio State fans are always going to find a way to be smart, somewhat angry. And now everyone's happy with the gray stripes like you guys said. But now they're gonna slap a little sponsored logo on either. I, I guess it'd be the right, either side. It'll be like, why are they doing this with an old time jersey?
B
Yeah, Woody, Woody wouldn't be slapping a logo on there. But it's like, sorry, so like, it is, it's, it's all a balance. So anyway, stripes, everybody loves them, even if they're a little bit shinier, because as Landa says, Gen Z likes shiny things. Okay, so question number two. Chase, we will start with you. One of the other things they did is they, they announced last week it was just a slew, just a slew of look announcements. It was like, was it the Met Gala last week? Is that why they did it last week?
A
Because it was two weeks ago.
B
So it was Met Gala. And then all the people from the Met Gala came to Ohio Stadium. They had a uniform unveiling they unveiled an all black look, an all white look and an all scarlet look. So they, they've talked about and we're going to sort of like pick our fav later in the show. But Ch Chase, as we think about this, they sort of said these are our five looks for this year. How should. This is the question. What's the appropriate usage of these alternate looks in 2026 and maybe beyond how often? Like what type of game? When should they be using the alternate looks as their uniforms on game days? Chase?
D
Yeah, I think maybe the best percentage that would work in their favor is something around 75 core home and away and then 25% those alternate looks. 12 regular season games, you're going to have nine in the standard traditional scarlet and gray uniforms and then you have so many premier marquee games this year that it's not going to surprise me to see them bring out all three of those alternate uniforms. The one tricky one I think is going to be the All Blacks because you're kind of at the mercy of, of Fox. And whether or not you're going to play a noon game, I don't imagine they're going to bring those out for a noon kickoff or even a 3:30. So who's your 7:30, 8 o' clock kickoff gonna be where you can debut those uniforms? You can black out the stadium and you can get the whole thing to be the right setting to debut those uniforms. But I'm imagining that they're probably going to bring out those sub zeros. Maybe they do it for week two against Texas. Maybe they wear them when they go to Bloomington. I think those are probably the two games. Maybe also usc. But then the All Scarlets, they can use those really at any point. I think I would probably imagine they're going to keep the traditional look for the Michigan game, but then you would have your pick of, you know, some more regular opponents, I guess you could say in the mix. Maybe they use the Illibuk, you know, the Illinois rivalry as a, as an opportunity to debut the All Scarlets, maybe the Oregon game when they come to town. So there are opportunities there. But I would imagine that they're probably going to try and find a happy medium of like we're going to wear the core uniforms because they're the core, but we're also going to throw in and sprinkle in those new looks because you didn't debut them, to not use them. Right. You're not going to show them off to put them on the shelf for the whole year.
B
Yeah, Yeah, I want to run through everybody because there's a couple things I want to ask about this Bill. What do you think is the right usage here?
A
I think I'm pretty much good with any kind of usage. As long as they don't wear them in the Michigan game. Right. I think when Ohio State and Michigan play each other, they should look like Ohio State of Michigan. And I also think they should both wear their home uniforms, but that's a different conversation. Like, no, no, all red if you're playing Michigan in the shoe. It is weird. Like, I can get more on board, I think, with wearing the all white if you're playing Michigan on the road, but I think I'd rather just keep them with the traditional uniforms. And then I think they did play. Did they not play a noon game that they had a blackout and wore the black uniforms? Like, that's, that's a little silly. Or at least they had a blackout, but they didn't wear black uniforms. Like, save the blackout for when it's actually dark. Otherwise you just look kind of. Kind of silly. And I understand that. Like, that's not entirely up to them. Although I do think moving forward, they probably will at least have one Big Ten home night game, even if it's not the. The best possible one they could have. So I would reserve the, the. What's it, they call the tunnel vision all black uniform for, for those occasions and otherwise, like, yeah, mix it up. I don't, I don't particularly care what you wear against anyone else in the Big Ten. And frankly, like, Oregon is sort of like emerging as this, this secondary rival perhaps in the Big Ten. Like, they get really weird with their uniforms all the time. I think it's okay to kind of, kind of match that if you want to do the same thing when you play them.
B
Yeah. All right, Josh, I'll jump to you like, Josh, what, What's your vibe here on the correct usage of the alternate all black, all white, all scarlet?
C
I think I'm, I'm with Chase. The 75 to 25 where one. One of each. All black, all scarlet, all white once during the regular season and then we're the core the other nine games. And then just. Yeah, just for a blackout game, don't have it be a noon game. I guess if it's later in the season, it can be technically a 3:30 game because it's going to be dark out by the second half. And then for the all white and the all Scarlet, just no matter what time the game is, just make it look good.
B
Okay, so. So there's two main questions I want to ask here from my point of view on this. Everybody agrees that black only works at night. Like, is black during the day just weird? Is that. Is that the vibe here? And if so, like, why is that? Just because, like, I don't know. Like, because. Because black means dark at night and there's no sun. Like it is. I kind of think that way, too. Why do we all think this?
A
It's. It's an aesthetics thing, I think. I. It's weird. Like, maybe I thought it was odd last year that they asked the fans to wear all black for a noon kickoff. I guess it's different if the team's wearing all black. Like. Like trying to, like, blanket your stadium in this dark hue while you're playing in the sun shining in the sky. Like, it's just a little.
B
Little.
A
Okay. It's incon. It's incongruous for me. So, yeah, maybe that is. Maybe it's not a thing. I don't know. Maybe people don't care. But I thought it was kind of strange to have a blackout during the day.
B
Well, we all think it. Chase, you think it's weird black has to be at night, right?
D
Yeah, I think Bill's on. On the nose there with just the aesthetic of it. Right. You have a team wearing all black that isn't traditionally wearing that color.
A
Right.
D
The scarlet and gray, and then you have kind of the black trim as maybe a third color in the mix. But when you watch an Ohio State football game, you turn on your tv, you're expecting to see scarlet and gray in some form or fashion. So that disconnect between the sun's out, but they're wearing this all black uniform, and traditionally they're wearing two different colors. I think that kind of disconnect just doesn't really land quite well. To really maximize on it, I think you need the stadium lights to shine off the. The different elements of the uniform and to make it crisp and clean.
B
Okay. So black at night and that also, like, is this one of these where they're doing a blackout? That means the team's wearing black. They're doing a scarlet out. That means they're wearing the color wash scarlet that day. Right. Josh, are we, like. We're gonna try to link up the, like, what the fans are told to wear with the. The uniforms the team is wearing that day?
C
Yes. I just think. I mean, going back to last year, no matter what, if it's not all scarlet, I feel like the fans don't really wear the color that. It's like if it's, if it was a blackout, it's gonna be like 80 fans will wear black, but then the other 20 will just wear their scarlet jersey.
A
Yeah, that makes sense. It's like to go buy a black
B
shirt to go to the game. So I'm paying this much for a ticket. I have to pay this much for a hot dog and this much to park and have to buy a black shirt. I've. I've been in those conversations in various parts of my life. Those are real conversations. For real. I can't wear what I was gonna wear. I have to wear a special thing now. It's fine. The other thing is this. The idea of we got in this run in the Michigan game, I would just double check in at least this. 09, 13, 17. Those road trips to Michigan, they're wearing all white. They were all. 17 was all white with black numbers. 13 was all white with scarlet numbers. And 09 was like a tribute to 1954. Remember, they were wearing white helmets. They look. And I've always said that, Chase, you should, in your biggest game, the game that defines you, the game that goes in the history books, look like yourself. But there was this time period where that Ohio State was opposite of that. Nike was like, you're wearing the weirdest things that we have for the Michigan game. But do you think with this look like yourself where one of the cores for Michigan should be a tenant of this, that. That. That should be like officially a thing?
D
Yeah. And I would agree too, with Bill. I think both teams should wear their home uniforms for that game. There are some pictures to honor the legacy of the game from decades ago where they're both wearing Michigan, their, their kind of maze and blue uniforms and then Ohio State wearing their scarlet and gr. Traditional helmets. And I think that it is. It's a great look. I love when the basketball teams do that. When the basketball team wears those old Jimmy Jackson or Clark Kellogg script Buckeyes uniforms and then Michigan is wearing their amazing blue. I would love to see that. But if they're not going to go that route, I think you, you probably are smart to keep it as traditional as possible. It's the same conversation as wearing black during the day. For me, I think there's just a disconnect. When you turn on that TV to watch the game, as millions of people do every year, Ohio State fans, Michigan fans, and then just college football fans in general, you're expecting a specific look. And I think that Ohio State can deliver on that with these jerseys.
B
Okay. Jason, one of our subscribers said, can we agree that the game demands our traditional uniform? That is not the time to mess with tradition. Anthony P. Said, Agreed. I'm fine with alternate jerseys, but not in the traditional big game. So it is, like. It can be pretty hard, though, sometimes. Again, like, if they're trying to sell the alternate jerseys, then they want it for the big games anyway. Just don't mess with Michigan much.
A
That goes for Michigan, too. I think the last. I think the last couple times Ohio State's played in Ann Arbor, Michigan's worn the. The blue on blue that I think is actually just like kind of a terrible look. So I wish they would wear the regular uniforms, too.
B
Yeah. Okay. Yeah, let's get an agreement on this. All right, let's go to question number three. We're going to briefly talk about something that actually affects the football a little bit more, but also his aesthetic. This is the turf announcement that Ohio State made last week in the midst of the jersey stuff. It's cool because they're gonna be able, with this, they're gonna have new turf that's going to be installed for 2026. One thing is they're going to be able to change the end zones to sort of match the aesthetic of the uniforms of what they're doing in the stadium that day. But also, it's better turf. And what's the name of the turf that was everyone hated before? Slit. Slit what?
A
Film.

Everybody's like, oh, that's slit film. Everybody knew like, oh, slit film. Oh, can't mess with slit film. But they installed this slit film turf in 2022. And then, like, as soon as they installed it, the NFL was like, yep, that stinks. And Ohio State was like, but we just literally put it in, Bill. They're going to the stuff that, I don't know, I guess is better. How big of a deal on a scale of 1 to 10, is this both in look but also in substance? It's a different type of turf. You have opportunities to change out the look a little bit. How much does this matter?
A
Yeah, I think it's a 10. I like, like, four men function right. Like, I like the idea that you can change it to match whatever your game day theme is. I. I think is cool. I think I. I have felt this, you know, in my time covering Ohio State like that the pre2022 turf was, like, faded, and the end zones looked pink almost. And then, honestly, this turf they've had for the last four Years like kind of faded very quickly too. So I, I guess this new turf they're using is supposed to more replicate even, even just didn't look like a natural surface. So I'm hoping that like, you know, the green pops a little more and it just is, is aesthetically a little more pleasing to look at and, and especially in a place like Ohio State, right, Like you're the best program in the country. You should like walk out onto a field that I, I think is like fitting, fitting that. And it felt like at times Ohio State wasn't necessary, wasn't necessarily doing that. I think the best version of that is playing on actual grass, but that's probably never going to happen. So this is sort of the next best thing, I guess to have this, this artificial surface that is kind of the most like playing on grass. And then the player safety issue is huge. I actually can't recall a ton of like injuries that have happened on Ohio stadiums feel that I would attribute to the playing surface. But I understand that especially that slit film turf does have a higher percentage of, of non contact injuries. So why would you want to play on that? And I think what has happened, like guys were slipping all the time on that, on that old surface too. So I'm hoping this new surface avoids that. So I'm not a turf expert by any means. People are asking me like, is this monofilament? Or I was like, I don't know. I don't know how many filaments there are. I just know that the NFL says this, the turf Ohio State had was bad and this one should be better. And that's kind of of good enough for me. And, and the fact that Ryan Day, like in the quote on the release said like, this is good for player safety. It's like, well, why were we even playing on the old stuff to begin with other than to save money? So I'm glad that Ohio State is not looking to cut costs when it comes to something that impacts player safety.
B
It was maybe just bad timing, I don't know. But they put the new turf in and Jackson Smith and Jigba's hamstrings exploded. So like, I don't like, again, we already know though that's because he was wearing the wrong size shoes. The Seahawks already cleared that up. So like, this poor guy is on new turf, his shoes are the wrong size, he's getting bent in half by Notre Dame players, which actually might be more of an issue than all the other stuff. But there's something I want to ask about that. I'm going to hold my vote for a second. Josh, scale of one to 10, one is like turf. Who cares? No big deal. 10 is like, big deal. Where are you on this?
C
I would just say 10 just because of what Bill said for the player safety. I mean, I guess it's more of a big deal because of the player safety part than anything else. I mean, I know fan. A lot of fans were complaining about it, but they're. They were. They were wannabe experts. But as far as player safety goes, that has to be, like, top priority. So I'm. I'm all for it.
B
Okay. Chase, what's your number?
D
I would also give it a 10. The other factor that I've had conversations about with some people who work out of the stadium is that this also. Let me use your word from earlier, Doug. It's strategic because it's. They're really making a big push for having a lot more concerts and events at the stadium as well. And so having some of the flexibility in the end zone to take up some of that turf to put down a big stage for Bruno Mars that's coming to town this week. Or 21 pilots is going to be in the stadium next October. They're going to be able to do more events in that space with more versatility, which is just bringing in more revenue and more money. So I think that Ohio State is making a smart move in that regard as well to continue adding some more revenue streams, which should in turn be helping the program win games. So I think that it's. It's giving versatility, and it's also going to, as. As these guys mentioned, hopefully keep the players safer and. And lead to an overall better experience for both teams that are playing on it.
B
Does anyone feel like there was a vibe with any of this? Is like, why don't they go back to grass? Or is that. That we just are out of that world for what you're talking about? They want to use it for other things. That. That's just not really the conversation anyone's having anymore.
D
Yeah, we're probably past it. Yeah.
B
Okay, Here's my question. If we're all tens, should we be making a bigger deal about this the last 40 years? I feel like Gerd. Tony Gerdovin asked about turf a couple times, should we have been Landis in Ryan Day's news conference being like, why you guys play on this crappy turf? What are you doing? You're getting players hurt. This is not acceptable. You're Ohio State. If it's not A good enough for the NFL, it's not good enough for Ohio State. They should have ripped this stuff up in 2023 because the media was pressuring about. Them pressuring about it constantly. Like, it feels like. And I mean, like, me, like, all of us. Right. I mean, like, did we miss something here by not making the turf discussion more prominent? While they did have what now they're saying is, like, not as good turf?
A
Yeah, I think so. I think. I think, like, a decent amount of the fan base was actually on it, but, you know, there. But people aren't gonna, like, boycott games because of the turf. I just think people were just like, you put this stuff down. The NFL says this, like, why. Why are you not sort of in sync here? And I think there could have been more pressure put on.
C
Yeah.
A
Or at least. At the very least, more questions asked about it. I think, you know, some people did. I think it's not that it was. It went entirely unasked over the last four years, but there wasn't, like, you know, the deep dive investigative piece about this turf, why Ohio State chose to use it, why did it make sense to have it that I think probably could have enacted some change earlier than. Than what we have here four years down the road. So, yeah, I would. I would chalk that up as, like, the. The people who cover Ohio State, which includes myself, obviously, dropping the ball a little bit on that.
B
Yeah, it's. It's hard because it's like, hey, I know you guys are getting ready to play Texas, but can I ask six questions about the field? But also, like, maybe. Maybe it should have happened. Like, really. Like, really, maybe it should have happened. The hard thing about it, Chase, is. And no excuse, I accept it, too. Like, I should have done more. I think part of it is, like, trying to draw a straight line between injuries and turf and that. It's. It's. There's. It's overall statistics, it's data, it's trends. Right. It's not like that player got hurt because of this field. That's a harder straight line to draw. And it's a small data set when you're just talking about Ohio State for four years. But rip us Chase. Go ahead. Say me and Bill blew it. Come on, Chase. This is your opportunity. Landis and Lamer east let Ohio State off the hook because they're homers.
D
No, I mean, so take me back in time. When I was a senior at Ohio State a few years ago, my enterprise journalism class, I actually tried to do an investigative piece for Ohio State. On the turf that they had at that time. And it was the biggest runaround I have ever done for any article I've ever written. I probably talked to over a dozen people that all directed me to this person and this person and this person. And anyone that you talked to wasn't able to give a straight answer about why Ohio State had the turf at that time that they did. So it honestly to me probably wouldn't have been the most fruitful endeavor to try and go down that road again, because I wasn't necessarily motivated to do the same routine that I had just done. But it is something that probably deserves more questions and something that we can definitely monitor in the future. Because I'm not sure how often Ohio State plans to replace this turf. Right. The one that they installed back in 2007 was replaced, I think seven years after that point and then another seven years after that in 2021, 22. So this is now a four year cycle. Are we going to now be operating this turf is going to change in 2030 or are we looking at more routinely updating this playing surface that Ohio State's going to be on? Because I do think to. To Bill's earlier point that this team does have a standard and a look that it needs to uphold. When you watch Ohio State run out on a field where the end zone that's supposed to be scarlet is fraying and turning pink, that's not necessarily a great look for the university. And for someone who's been so highly motivated to continue bringing in dollars for the athletic department, I think Ross Bjork wants the field to look as pristine as possible in addition to the team. So it is a lot of the aesthetics that they're probably focusing on as they move forward. So maybe we see them replacing the turf more frequently from this point forward.
B
Oh, Bill, I feel so much better. It's Chase's fault. He blew it as a.
D
It's me. You just put it on me. You put it on me.
B
Sure, Bill and I have a combined 30 years of covering Ohio State, but hey, 21 year old Chase, as a senior at Ohio State, why did you blow the roof off this thing? And I wonder like sort of what you're bringing up, Chase, if this is like a little early in the cycle to replace it, maybe it is because, I mean, somebody internally was like, our turf stinks. Like, we got to get this crap up and get better stuff down. And now to your point, what is the new cycle that'll be very interesting to keep an eye on? Maybe there's like a 15 year old who's gonna eventually go to Ohio State, who for his senior project can be in charge of keeping tabs on that for the entire beat. Let's go to question. Oh, I would. I just want to say this. I didn't ask our subscribers on Substack specifically about the turf because it is a little more complicated. But there were people who chimed in and said, like, uniforms, great. Turf is the bigger deal. And to your point, Bill, there were fans who I think did have this in their head of like, this isn't good enough. It needs to change. And they were excited about that. And then Miguel was like, it's going to look better. Miguela was, was excited. I love all the new unis. However, what I'm really excited about is the new unis in combination with the color coordinated end zones. The little OCD man in the back of my brain is dancing a jig over that. So, like, that's great for everybody. It's all going to fit together. Question number four.
D
Four.
B
What's the best look? So they have these five options now. Five options. They have the sub zero and if you're watching on YouTube, you can see it. I'll just grab it. Otherwise, the sub 0 is the name for the all white, white jersey, white pants. The tunnel vision is the all black and that includes a black helmet. The scarlet rush is the all scarlet. And then they have the core away look, which is the white jersey and the. The gray pants and the core home look, which is the scarlet jersey and the gray pants. What is the best look of these five? And I will say, and maybe part of it is just that, like, it's so good, it's hard to get away from the core home look. The scarlet jersey with the traditional helmet and the gray pants is just like, I don't know, like that's the best one. You can do the other stuff, but that's excellent. That would be my vote. Josh, what's their best look in your mind of the five that are going to be in the rotation this year?
C
I'm actually completely opposite of you. I love the away look. The white tops and either the gray pants or the icy whites. I don't know why, but I love that. I love. I mean, the icy whites are great, but I'm fine with the core always too. Just there's something about the white tops and either the gray pants or the white pants.
B
I mean, it's like white's good guys, right? It's like you're like, you're like the sheriff riding into town, right? It is that, that that word icy, like brings like that kind of idea to that. And it is interesting. Like, I'll like the black is like, okay, like you're the bad. Like you're the bad guys, don't mess with us kind of thing. But I don't know the. That is a good look, Josh. That's a good vote. Chase, what's your vote?
D
I'd go with you, Doug. I think the core home is probably my favorite of the uniforms that they just put out, and I, I think it stands in such contrast to the Scarlet Rush jerseys. I'm not a big fan of those. I know that there are a lot of people. People who are. But I just think that standard look with those silver gray pants are. Are a great complete look that I always think of when I think of the Buckeye, so I'd go with those.
B
All right, Landis, what's your vote?
A
I have also always sort of been partial to the. The white jersey over the scarlet jersey. I don't know why either, but, but I do, I do like that look a little more. So my favorite actually is the sub zero. I like the white on white. I remember one. It was, it was a different white on white uniform, but like in 2014 when, when Ohio State played at Penn State in the whiteout and they wore all white, I thought that was awesome. Oh, I say to probably never play in a nighttime whiteout again in Beaver Stadium. So maybe, maybe it's not as necessary moving forward. But I, I do kind of like that. It's like a stormtrooperish kind of look I think is pretty cool, especially like, juxtaposed to the old. I, I don't like the, the scarlet on scarlet. I like the scarlet jersey, but I don't like the scarlet pants with the scarlet jersey. I think that's a little too much red for my liking.
B
Okay, can I ask this, and this is just kind of a side note, I guess all the looks for these except the all black has the traditional helmet. For instance, I mentioned that, like the 2009 when they wore white at Michigan and they wore like a white helmet with that. I don't like them wearing any helmet that's not the traditional helmet with the buckeye leaves. Josh like, and I understand, like, you want to match stuff, but I would almost make that a non negotiable. Like whatever we're doing neck down is great. Neck up. We're looking like the Buckeyes because the Buckeye Leaf is among the Great things in college football that represent a program. Where are you on that, Josh?
C
Yeah, I mean, I kind of agree with you. It is interesting that for the all black uniforms they went with the black helmet. But for the sub zero all I see white uniforms, they just stick with the standard. But then I guess it would look, it would look kind of different if the all black uniforms had the standard helmet too. So I kind of get it too. But yeah, I'm, I'm with you. I mean, the Buckeye helmet is the best helmet in college football. So I, the more you can use the regular helmet, I'm, I'm always for that.
A
Yeah.
B
Where are you on that chase?
D
Yeah, I'd agree. I think probably more than the uniforms, more than the stripes, the, the helmet is what stands out most about Ohio State football with that Buckeye leaf. And I don't know necessarily how you work in a black uniform without having the black helmet. It kind of feels like though I would agree you would want to make it a non negotiable. How do you make those colors line up in a way where it actually looks the way you want it to and the way that people would be excited about it would feel a little bit to me. Like the high school I went to had all black uniforms and they wore white helmets with it, but it was only because the school could afford one singular helmet. So it always kind of looked funny to me that we would be wearing these black uniforms with blue numbers but then a white helmet. And so it just didn't really fit. But it was the only thing you could do. If you're Ohio State and you got the Nike money, you might as well try and play around with a new helmet that people can get excited about.
B
Yeah. Okay. I did survey the folks on what they thought the best look was. We'll put it up one more time here for the YouTube viewers. The core home look, scarlet top, gray pants, got 58% of the vote. As the, as the best one. The core road look, white top, gray pants, got 21%. And so then we're. Again, we're just like at 20% of the people who are picking any of the true alternates as their favorite Look. All white 10%, all black 9%, all Scarlet 1%. And that's going to bring us back to one other thing, Bill, I want to cover before we get out of here, which is like the, the Scarlet. What are we like? I. The Scarlet. I don't know. I. You said this, I think already. I don't know about the All Scarlet. I asked those three individuals. I said, like, again, awesome. Great. Good. Fine. Not a fan. Give me a rating on those three alternates. Awesome ratings. All white, 49%. Awesome. All black, 39%. Awesome. All Scarlet, 16%. Awesome. The combination of the top two votes, awesome or great. White, 75%. Black, 68%. Scarlet, 39%. And then not a fan. The worst rating. Scarlet, 16%. Black, 4%. White, 3%. Right. So the bottom line here is everybody likes the black and the white, and some people love the all black and the all white. Landis. The All Scarlet is much iffier for a lot of people.
A
It should be. I think it's by far. It's by far their worst one. Like, I don't. I can't remember what game it was where they actually wore them a few years ago. I just, like, this is. This is an odd look. And then, like, that was kind of, at the time, I think, where the NFL was doing its color rush uniform. So, like, there were a lot of teams kind of look with. Going with the monochromatic look. I just. I don't like it. I. I would be interested maybe in seeing, like, what the. The scarlet pants might look like with the white jersey, maybe, but, like, the. The scarlet on scarlet is just. It's. It's not for me, so I'm not surprised that people like that one the least.
B
Okay. Does anyone like All Scarlet? Josh, you like the All Scarlet? Are you in, like, you can see it or not so much?
C
It's my least. Like you guys. It's my least favorite, but I don't mind it. I mean, they did. The all scarlet uniforms did look good under the lights against Tennessee in the College Football Playoff. But I think it's better. I think it's a better look under the lights than it is, like, at a new team.
B
Yeah. Okay. And Chase, you're in or out on Scarlet?
D
I'm kind of out. I. I also think I. I was also thinking about the Tennessee game, and would you feel differently about the all scarlet uniforms if Ohio State didn't boat race, Tennessee 45. Right. If they went out there and they lost, gosh, so much would be different about the program. But if they go out there and they lose in those jerseys, I think they would have been probably burned at the stake. But I think that because they won, maybe they are on the shelf for another year or two until they. Okay, release some new uniforms.
B
And. And there is certainly something you. You could do different with the scarlet top that doesn't have to be head To Toe Scarlet. So I. I wonder what they'll do. Maybe experiment with that. We did have Kurt chime in in the comments and say even Rhett Butler agrees that you cannot beat all Scarlet, my favorite dame and uni. So
A
I don't know what any of that means.
B
It's Gone with the Wind. Night off, Scarlet, what's her name? And Gone with the Wind. Scarlett Johansson. I can't remember her name. It's Gone with the Wind. She's famous. What's left? Landed like a fart in church, man. Nobody's getting Gone with the Wind references. It's only made it came out in 1939. What's wrong with you people? Uniform.
C
I'm with Bill. I have no idea what was just said.
B
Butler. Come on. Rhett Butler. Content is big in the algorithm these days. We're going to. We'll have the producer cut this out. Josh, question five. We'll start with you. What's left? They had a couple other, like, right. They got a O on their neck or whatever. Like, there was a couple other little details here, but it has been like. There's been an alternate uniform discussion around Ohio State for years. There's been the sleeve discussion for years. They really have answered a lot of questions in a way that people seem pretty happy about. Josh, what's left? Is there anything with jersey's helmets anything else that you would want for Ohio State football? In how the Buckeyes look. That isn't happening yet.
C
I mean, this is the easy way out, but I don't think there's really anything left to do. They brought back the nostalgia like we already talked about. And, yeah, I don't think there's any. I love the blocko. I love the black go both on the front of the helmet and on the collar. I think it's a cool look, but. Yeah, I don't think. I think they basically perfected the new. The new look jerseys.
B
Yeah. Okay. Chase, do you have anything?
D
I do, actually. I. I've had people tell me they're not coming. I don't believe them. I think Ohio State has all gray uniforms stocked up at some point that they'll use, and that's only because Ryan Day appeared on Cam Hayward's podcast. I think it was last month. And toward the end of their discussion, Cam Hayward asked Ryan Day what his favorite uniform was, and he said the All Grace. And I think if your head coach has a uniform that he is partial to and that head Coach makes almost $13 million to coach your team, you're probably Going to do something to make him happy in addition to all the other things that you're doing to make him happy. So I think at some point, I don't know when. I'm never wrong. I'm just early. I think Ohio State will have all gray uniforms that they will bring back. We'll see if they do. But I, I think I just have, I have some sort of inkling that it's going to happen at some point and that they're keeping it tucked up their sleeves.
B
They've done all grays in the past to some degree, right? Every now and then. Okay.
D
Yeah. The one that sticks out is 2023 against Michigan State. I think they wore that at least one time since then as well.
C
It was for a night game. I forget which game it was. But they wore them at home at night.
B
Okay.
A
Could you do the, the new sleeve on a gray jersey?
D
That's what I don't know.
A
Yeah.
D
You'd have to be creative with it. But maybe you don't have the Buckeye stripes for those uniforms if it means that you can bring back those. All grades. Because I think they were a fan favorite in some regard. I think they would rank higher than the all scarlet.
B
Yes.
D
At least. Right. So it's like you could bring that back as kind of a flare at some point either this year, next year, somewhere down the road.
B
How about September 11, 2027, against New Hampshire and we officially make it Ryan Dayday and he gets to do everything he wants. Right. It's that he can have clam chowder in the concession stands if he wants that week. Because it's Ryan Dayday. They're playing his alma mater. They're wearing his favorite gray uniforms, and it's all about the head coach.
D
I love it.
B
I like it. What's your thing, Landis?
A
I actually think they could do more with the helmets. Like, I, I, I like Ohio State silver helmet. I agree that it is probably. It's either that or Notre Dames or are the most iconic helmets in college football. Of course. Like the, you know, the wing thumb, what's up there. But I'm not gonna make Ohio State fans acknowledge that either. But it's not like, like Ohio State hasn't always worn the silver helmet. Like, there is historical precedent for them to wear a scarlet helmet or a white helmet. If they wanted to with those uniforms, I would get it. I guess if you don't want to go like that far down the road. But I also think since you've already done the black helmet with the black uniform and kind of bucked tradition in that way. You could do something different with the black helmet. And I thought of, like, maybe getting. I don't even know if you have to get rid of the helmet stripe, but I think you could get rid of the helmet stripe on the black helmet and then put, like, a red block O on the side and have it be like the Woody Hayes hat helmet, like the iconic Woody Hayes hat. But it's just a black helmet. It has a block on the side instead of the front, obviously, like Woody's hat did. So I like. On the actual jerseys and pants themselves, I don't know how much more there is you could do other than add the. The gray color scheme. But I think there's something you could do to be a little more creative with the helmets. If we're already doing these all white, all red, all black uniforms.
B
Okay, what if you did. Because you could wear those, and then everybody could wear Woody glasses under their helmets that day. Let's see.
A
Yeah.
B
Okay.
D
Here.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah. Yeah. Everybody's like, why is it Rodrigo Blankenship day at Ohio State? It's like, oh, my God. People don't even know what we're getting yet. I do think it's the thing that has been said here before. I think it's what's left, and I think it can become the next. Next thing. And I think it can be taken to Ross and, like, pushed is like, is Ohio State and Michigan wearing their colored jerseys against each other? Right. Wearing that home look. The visitor wears the home look. And that we get into a world here where, like, it's. Don't wear alternates, but where it's. It's scarlet versus blue. Right? Like, can we get. Can that become the next push, like, ever? Josh, Everybody's in favor of that, right? It's been multiple. Already mentioned multiple times here.
C
Yeah, I. I mean, I. You guys have discussed it already. The show. I would love it. I think everyone would love it. I just don't know. I don't know if that's like a TV contract thing or who. Whose final decision that actually is to not make it like that, but I'm all for it. Like, you guys.
B
Yeah.
A
I do think whatever the respective home team that year would have to sign off on the other team wearing their home uniform, which, like, maybe that's only part of it. Maybe the Big Ten would have to do the same. But, like, I don't like the. The Big Ten grandfathered in USC and UCLA doing it. Right. So I don't Know why Ohio State of Michigan couldn't do it?
B
Yeah. And if you did agree to a two year cycle, you get to do it here, we'll do it there. Right? Like so I think they could figure it out because Chase, as we said, like most of the other stuff figured out. So we have to find, you know, like we'll have you do. We have the secret Ryan Day grays and then we have, you know, wearing the, the home jerseys against each other in the game and everything else will be fixed. Josh and Chase. Thank you, guys. Fashionable Josh, you care about fashion or only football fashion?
C
Man, I've never been asked that question before. Football,
B
football, fashion. All right, Chase, how about you? You, you like you. You're going out on a Saturday night like you care how you look or is it only for sure?
D
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, as long as my wife likes it, I'm good. I think that's a good answer there. You know, I don't really know. Think I have to be addressing to the nines, but as long as I'm looking presentable and as long as I look and feel clean, I think I feel good.
B
Yeah. Is it fair, I don't know if I'm using this word correctly, but what Ohio State did last week in unveiling all of this, would it be fair to say that the Buckeyes were look maxing? Is that a thing right?
D
Sure.
B
Was that in a headline anywhere? Was that the eleven warriors headline? Buckeyes look maxing with new Uniform unveilings.
D
Yep. It said Buckeyes frame mod college football with looks maxing jersey debut.
C
We hit, we hit all the SEOs in that one.
A
There you go.
B
My God.
D
You.
B
It's just tearing it up. Josh Paloha, Chase Brown. Josh, like work. You, you jump in. You do interesting stuff over there. Eleven warriors. Like I know you got other stuff going on. Where can the people make sure to find you? Like what, what kind of stuff usually working on for the, for the folks over there.
C
I'm just 11 warriors. I'm not. I guess I'm not part of the full time stuff, but I just write. Write what I want to write, what I want to write and just help out wherever I can. You can always find me on Twitter. It's George J O R S H P. And yeah, I just, I love chasing the guys over to 11 wars. I think we do great stuff and I respect what you and Doug do. Doug and Bill do here at on the show too.
B
Well, thanks for. Thanks for joining us today, Josh. Chase, what you got going on over there with the fine folks, 11 warriors. What can we look forward to? Where they where can everyone find your work?
D
Yeah, still keeping up with the school sessions Monday to Friday during this time of year. Like Josh just kind of getting to contribute whatever way they have. News pop up about Ohio State football at the Uniforms last week and then on Twitter as well at Chase a Brown underscore. Underscore because there's a million Chase Browns, including the Cincinnati Bengals running back that have taken all the desirable usernames. So you have to do a little bit extra work to find me, but I'm there.

All right, Bill Landis, we got more stuff coming over at the substack this week. I think we figured out what our Wednesday show is going to be. But also Tuesday here on this feed, we are going through our opponent previews. We are to week three of the Ohio State schedule, which means Kent State State.

Which means we will have Kent State head coach Mark Carney on the show joining us. We're looking for a writer. They don't exist. So we said we'll just get the head coach.
B
Yeah. So he will be joining the Bill and Doug Show. You can look for that sometime on Tuesday. And again, go find us over on Substack Substack, Bill and Doug. Osu.substack.com Once we get to June, we'll be having another special for Father's Day. So if you want to give the gift of Bill and Doug for Father's Day, you'll have that opportunity. For now, thanks as always to you guys for being here, for watching, for listening, for making all of this possible. We want to thank Josh and Chase for their great contributions. Appreciate you guys sharing your time for now. For Josh Paloha, for Chase Brown, he's Bill Landis, I'm Doug Lamemarise. And that was around the shoe on the Bill and Doug Show.
Episode: Best uniforms, sleeve excitement, new turf and right look vs. Michigan?
Date: May 18, 2026
Host: Blue Wire | Doug Lesmerises & Bill Landis, with guests Josh Paloha & Chase Brown (Eleven Warriors)
In this episode, Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis are joined by Eleven Warriors’ Josh Paloha and Chase Brown for a deep-dive discussion about Ohio State football’s updated uniforms, the much-anticipated return of the gray/silver shoulder stripe, new turf at The Shoe, alternate looks for 2026, and what Ohio State should wear for “The Game” vs. Michigan. Using input from Substack subscribers, the group explores how aesthetics, tradition, and nostalgia boost both the fan and player experience—and why even details like sleeves and turf shouldn't be overlooked.
