Guess who's back. Tyler is.
B
Do you guys miss me?
A
Everyone always misses you.
B
I don't know.
A
I didn't see any feedback. I asked. People prefer solo episodes. I didn't see anything. Did you?
B
But I feel like people do, like, deep down they want you back.
A
I think it's good to have a mix of like, both.
B
It's okay if you guys don't want me here. Just say it. Say it with your chest. Dm me.
A
I actually love to not be on the podcast. I'm sure it is a lot of work, but I do it for the besties and I know you guys. I know there's like valuable shit on here. By the way, did we ever find that audio? I emailed Slay amazing. I from I guess my last clip, one of my sayings that I was talking about, I went off. Apparently someone made like a little audio of it, but it's like scratchy. So I want like the clear, crisp version of was really motivational. So a little life update. I'm trying to think what's been new. I feel like I've just been working a lot, getting, you know, settled back in after traveling a ton and about to go travel again because I'm like a flight risk right now. To be quite honest, I have not struggled so bad in my personal and professional life at the same time. So it's been like really hard for me to manage. And like every time I feel like I need an escape, I want to go to the ocean. So. But to be fair, this wasn't a last minute trip. I actually booked this in February and I'm really excited. I can't wait. I'm going to Indonesia. I'm going to go to Sumba island first. And they have like a lot of like wild horses that run there and it's always been like a lifelong dream. And then going to Komodo to see the Komodo dragons and they have one of the only pink beaches in the world. So of course I'm excited to do that. And I was gonna do Raja Ampat, which is like one of the best places to dive. And actually China just started mining there. I saw like a whole like thing about it. So it's sad because it's like the basically last untouched coral reef. So it's like insane, like the amount of coral they have. But it's like super remote. It's super hard to get there. Like even though it's in Indonesia, it's like a 13 hour boat trip. There's not many places that you can stay like it's a whole thing. And then on top of that, apparently it's like not a good season to go. It's like very dangerous diving conditions. And so I just don't obviously want to risk my life. So I'd rather go when it's like, calmer waters. Yeah. And I think that's just like a trip in itself. I think it's better to do like a live aboard and dive because then you can dive like way more. It's easier to get to more remote locations and like just staying at a, like, dive resort on land. So you want to be like on a boat doing that. So I will be back to Indonesia to do Raja Ampat before China ruins it.
B
When you're going to Bali.
A
Yeah. Well, you have to fly into Bali. And I was just like, this was a last minute add on. I was like, well, since I'm already there, why don't I. And there's a lot of healing stuff in Bali that I want to do. So Komodo is like all the diving and then Sumba, it's going to be a lot of like, horses and animals and like, just wildlife, hiking, nature. And then Bali is going to be where I do like, a lot of, like, the healing stuff. So I'm excited. Slay and then I get back and then it's like pretty much time for the spa to open. We're getting really, really close to everything being finalized. So exciting stuff. I'm really excited.
B
The spa has. It's kind of crazy because we've been working on this since, gosh, like, basically right when I started last year, we like dove right into it because I think we found it in February, like right before I started of 2024.
A
Yeah.
B
So it's been a long time coming. I mean, gosh, it's gonna be almost like two years, basically, like a year. And really six months, I guess a year and a half. February day.
A
That's crazy.
B
So. But it's crazy because, like, so much went into the beginning of it and like, it felt like so slow at the start. And now everything is just happening so fast. Like, we blink an eye and there's like half the spa has been done getting built. I feel like a lot of it was, you know, architectural plans and like getting foundation or like the framing up and stuff like that. But, like, once they got that, they've been flying. And so every time we walk in, it's like there's like a whole new layer that's done.
A
And not to like, toot my Own horn. I think at least in the US this is going to be the prettiest spa in the US Because I know they have like crazy shit like around and about, but like, actually no, because like I don't count like the win or like, like Vegas spas. But the thing about, I would say like met spots and be the prettiest met spa.
B
Yeah. But even like the thing about those spas that you're talking about is I feel like they're all like super value engineered. Like everything is. It looks really nice, but it's not actually nice. You know what I mean?
A
He knows the inside scoop because he's got his uncle.
B
Yeah. It's like in construction in Vegas. So he was saying that like these like grand like stone looking things are really just like plaster with like a paint put on it like crazy.
A
So SBA is not.
B
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Every. Every single thing at sba, if you.
A
A lot of pleasure too.
B
Yeah. Like if you have the pleasure of coming, it is like you will see that every not even square inch, like square millimeter of the space has been methodically planned. It is like detailed, custom. I mean, I would like, I think we have like maybe five pieces of furniture. Like the spa beds and desk chairs are the only things that were like retail furniture. Like every other like built ins thing is completely custom furniture. Fabric choices, like the piping on everything, tables, like everything is just. It's going to be insane. Long story short.
A
Yeah, I would say the vibe is like Parisian beach house fair, right?
B
Yeah, yeah. Parisian beach house. Yeah. I think we went into it saying.
A
Well, it's crazy to think about, like I wanted to go like, remember, like super organic and have like big rocks in there. And then I was like, yeah, it's pretty. But like everybody does that. Not everybody, but like a lot of people do. Like the plaster walls and like it's very like just minimal. But like, I think I would just get so bored and sick of that. It's not Savannah because I'm not minimal. I'm not a minimal person. So I want the space to reflect who I am. And it's not like gaudy or chaotic, but there's definitely.
B
It's like, it has character.
A
It has character. Like, it is really unique. I mean, I don't even think there's like a name for the style. It's just like Savannah.
B
Yeah, it's literally Savannah. Well, I was going to say you said beach house. Like we went into when we started bringing in some beach elements. Vanna was like, I just want a little bit here and there, and I feel like the further we go along, like, she's becoming a beach house.
A
No, it's not. I know I confused some people. Our new logo has a seashell on it, and, you know, it's because I love the ocean. Like, I think it's just a big part of, like, who I am. So, yeah, I don't give a fuck that we're in Texas and we're landlocked over here.
B
Yeah. We have a lot of lakes.
A
Yeah.
B
But we are going to be doing.
A
A Q and A. Yeah.
B
So let's get started. We're probably going to do a few episodes of Q and A's because y' all submitted so many questions. Like, I. I don't know if you can see here, but, like, I can literally scroll for so long. So we want to get to all of them. We don't want anyone to feel left out. So we're going to do some rapid fire Q and A episodes. Hopefully you ask questions and you're intrigued by the answers. But let's get started. Savannah, are you attending the Face Reality retreat summit?
A
I am. I'll be there. I'll be speaking. I'm really excited. It's in Texas. It's in Austin, not Dallas.
B
I'm excited because everyone raves about this resort.
A
Yeah. The resort's supposed to be really good.
B
Wasn't Lydia just there?
A
I don't know. You know more than I do.
B
I think I saw on her Instagram story that she was right.
A
So we need to write down. I need to text her.
B
Okay, next question. What is your favorite board game? When's the last time you played a board game? When's the last time you played a board game?
A
I would say, like, years. I liked. I think I liked sari.
B
Is that the one with the pupper?
A
No, I think it's the one that looks like a butt plug. Oh, I'm gonna Google it.
B
Yeah, I know what you're talking. They look like chess pieces, almost like a rook.
A
Let's see. Yeah, these. Yeah, I liked that.
B
But do they have the dice and the. What's. What was that game? Do you know what I'm talking about?
A
I think they have a dice, but.
B
Like, it had, like, a popper in the middle. I don't know. Y' all will let me know.
A
I liked. Sorry. Yeah, that was a good game.
B
Are you going to hire estheticians?
A
Eventually. We have Lauren, who I've hand trained, hand selected, and just poured so much into her So I want her to be the first and just give her that time to really grow and foster her growth and pour everything I can into her. So I think it's gonna be a lot for me to manage two people. And also, I don't wanna hire someone more seasoned than her and make her feel like she's left in the dust. I just really want her to feel taken care of and prioritized.
B
Yeah. And I also think this is a first for us as a business. For the past seven, six, seven years, Savannah has operated completely solo. And so the idea of letting other people, no matter how wonderful any of you are into the business is. Yeah. It's stressful. And it's like you have to have the time to dedicate.
A
I have to have the right people. And like that. That's the thing is I've, like, tried many times. You know, I'm like, oh, like, maybe this person would be good. Maybe this person would be good. But it's, like, never worked out. Lauren's like, the first person that I felt like in my gut and in my soul was like, right for it and the person for it.
B
So we definitely need to get established with just figuring out how to.
A
But the goal is to have more SDs for sure.
B
How long should purging last before it's no longer purging?
A
I'd say 4 to 8 weeks, sometimes 12 if it's non inflamed.
B
If you could only afford one ondo or alpharette. I'm sensitive, acne prone, and 42 years old.
A
I would. Since you're 42, I'd go with Alpharex. It's going to be more anti aging.
B
Best balm for removing makeup.
A
I like. It's not a balm. It's an oil cleanser. I love the one. Love organics oil cleanser. And it smells like a vacation. It's stunning.
B
You go through phases with that one? Yeah. What razor do you use?
A
Okay, so that gold one. Everyone always asks. I don't really like shaving with it, to be honest, because it hurts me.
B
Is that the one that you cut yourself with?
A
Yeah, I've cut myself with that a lot. Let me see if I can find it.
B
I feel like when you use the belly, you're fine.
A
Yeah, but that dulls so fast. But it's because, like, you're supposed to gold razor shaping. Let's see if we can find it. I feel like I got like an ad. Oh, it's. It's Leaf. It's from Leaf L, E A F Shave, leaf, shave. But be careful. Please.
B
Be careful. How is soft wave going for you? Are you using little squares to map the face?
A
We are using little squares to map the face for sure. It's going really well. I think we're seeing really good results with clients. Everyone seems to be really happy. I've done my elbows because my elbows actually, when I lost weight, it's weird. Like, I didn't get, like, loose skin really, on my stomach or anywhere else other than, like, my elbows to my elbow. I was like, had a photo shoot. I looked at one of these photos and I was like, my arm looks like it's 60 and like, there's nothing wrong with that if you are 60. But, like, at 27, obviously it's not the vibe. So I soft waved it like, what, twice? And it looks like 3,000 times better. So. Love that. And then I just did my jawline and lower cheek area. So I'm excited to see those results. But, yeah, I mean, we've seen a lot of lifting and all of our clients that have had it done are extremely happy.
B
What's your go to way to boost rebooking rates?
A
I would say it all starts the consultation. Giving them a game plan, managing expectations, letting them know, like, what it's going to take to get to that goal. I think it really comes down to the communication and the way you speak to your clients because a lot of people, they're like, oh, like, I just need one microneedling and that's going to, like, fix my scarring. So you just have to really make sure you're educating and coming up with, like, a treatment plan for them and being like, okay, so next time we're doing this service, instead of like, what do you want to do next or when do you want to come back next? It's like, okay, so after this treatment I recommend or you need to, however, whatever your language is in your business, I usually say, like, I want to see you back in four to six weeks. Four weeks would be ideal. But if my schedule and your schedule doesn't allow like six weeks max, and then after that we'll do three more and then we'll move on for fall to do this peel for this pigment that we want to address, xyz. So I think just like, really coming up with a concrete, solid game plan is, like, key.
B
What are your tips on growing your business? Been having some slow weeks. Despite posting constantly.
A
I think it's more about, like, the quality of what you're posting, not just, like, the quantity. So really speaking to like, what is going to make people book and like, kind of just taking yourself out of your own brain and like, when you go, like, I'm doing all these trends, like, I'm doing all these educational things, More client success stories. People buy feelings more than they find they buy products. So if you really can make people feel something or feel connected to you, that's going to help a ton and just really putting yourself out there and being a go getter. Like, I had days where I wasn't fully booked and like, I just stayed in. Like, would do social media content or I would do virtual consults to fill my books, or I'd go like, you know, mingle and network with other people in the salon suite to help, you know, just boost client retention and get new people in and also feed them clients. So I think it's just important to just never honestly give up and just be consistent, even when it's slow and even when it's busy.
B
Can I microneedle? As an esthetician in Texas, you have.
A
To have a medical director.
B
Any recommendations for stretch marks during pregnancy?
A
So I love Lipid Body Serum and then the Ace Body oil from Environ is amazing.
B
Bless you. Do you use Glymed products for your back bar?
A
I used to, yeah. I don't really do facial stuff anymore. Like, I feel like everything's so corrective that I'm not putting like a bunch of serums on people. If I do anything, it's like lipid or restorative. Ha.
B
Yeah. And like sunscreen.
A
Yeah.
B
That's what they walk out the door with.
A
Yeah.
B
Vivid brightening or skin better intensive even tone for melasma on deep dark skin. Both of them.
A
Yeah, I was going to say both. Actually talked about this last night on a webinar for skin. Click. I like Vivid because it's a dual way hair. So it really carries down that pigment inhibitor, which is Hoxhl resourcinol. It's comparable to 4% hydroquinone and also has augustoche Mexicana that lowers the skin temperature. And with pigment, you really want hydration. So it's imperative that the skin is extremely hydrated and also so that your ingredients can get it. And like, if you're putting like all these exfoliation products, pigment inhibiting products, bleaching creams, but your skin is dry, dehydrated or compromised, it's not going to allow those ingredients and it's literally like gonna shut down. This is inappropriate, but I can say it on the podcast because I wanted to say it But I can't. No, but it's like a vagina, you know, like when the vagina is wet and juicy and your pores wet and juicy, it opens up. If it's tight and dry, nothing goes in. So, yeah, you want basically your skin to be a big loose pussy. But then even Intensive, I love. Cause it treats all five pathways of pigmentation, which is imperative because there's so many different processes of skin pigmentation. And it has slow released alpha hydroxy acid. So Viva doesn't have any alpha hydroxy acids and even intensive does. So I love it for that. And it also has tranexamic acid, which is amazing for pigment. So I would say both. But if you had to pick one, I mean, I would say even if you're using even intensive, like, I want you using a hydrating serum with that again, because Wet and juicy. So I'd probably say vivid. If you can only afford one product that's a pigment inhibitor and a hydrating ingredient in one product.
B
Yeah, but I feel like a majority of people wouldn't even think to use both. Like, I know so many of our clients are on both, but like, I feel like a lot of the average consumer may think that it's one or the other, but no.
A
Yeah, everyone thought that on the webinar and I was like, wrong.
B
Yeah, they were like, on the webinar, I saw the quote. They were like, is that not overkill?
A
Never how I get good results.
B
What are your thoughts on this? Is reminding me of the tea video that you recorded with Cyril. You want some tea?
A
Do you want some tea, besties? Let's get into it.
B
What are your thoughts on Skin Better? Allegedly selling products on the TikTok shop.
A
They are not. It is diverters. So it's either people that have like a plug that's giving them products that they're then selling out of their home, or it's a Skin Better account that just like had like.
B
It's just breaks the rules.
A
Yeah, it breaks the rules. But the annoying thing is it's like now that they're so like corporate Skin Better, it's like they have to go. Like, it's not like your rep can just like reach out and be like, hey, like take that down. Like, they have to go through like legal and like have legal reach out. Like, it's like a whole thing. So now it takes like three months to get like people doing illegal taken down. When like before, like, people would, like, my rep would just text the like Oklahoma Rap and be like, yo, your account is selling online or whatever and then it would get taken down. But yeah, it's annoying for sure. But I mean that's just like, that's what happens. I mean, there's fake botox on the market and there's. There's just diverters everywhere. It's like a huge thing.
B
It's not skin better though. No one product for pie.
A
Even tone from skin butter works so good for redness.
B
But we're not one product type of people.
A
So I would also say intense serum.
B
She was itching to say it, so I had to give her the movement.
A
Honestly, arctogenin is phenomenal. So how I'd layer that I would do intense serum first arctogenin and then even tone. And those are all pregnancy safe and acne safe.
B
Just a sweet message. I'm going solo. As an esthetician, you have been such an inspiration to start my business.
A
That's so sweet. I love that.
B
What to use on oily acne prone sensitive skin that doesn't tolerate actives but loves oils.
A
Run that back.
B
Sounded like a mad lib to me too. I know what to use on oily acne prone sensitive skin that doesn't tolerate actives.
A
Well, basically her skin barrier is compromised and so her skin's overcompensating by producing more oils. That's why she's oily. So if I could give you the perfect regimen, I would say Prelude cleanser for sure. I double cleanse with that. I'm going to do like affordable. Okay, well, not affordable, but like not 17 steps. Like high quality good products, but like not a million steps. So double cleansing with Prelude morning and night. Don't double cleanse in the morning, just double cleanse at night. Then I would say CBD mist help balance. Actually, I'm going to take that back. I'm going to go with hydrobiome mistake 22 hydrobiome mist. And then you're gonna use lipid serum. Okay. Lipid serum is gonna be like your holy grail. And then I want you using Ondo and then Maestro to help balance your skin. And then Trio to balance your oil levels. And then a sunscreen. And then I want you using a peel pad once a week at night and then at nighttime. Instead of using Ondo, I want you using Alpharet. So Prelude that we're start with morning Prelude hydrobiome lipid serum on Dew Maestro trio sunscreen. And then nighttime Prelude times two. And then once a week you'll put a peel pad. And you're not gonna wash this off you're just gonna go peel pad and then go straight into the rest of it. But every six nights out of the week, One night you're not doing a pill pad. Hydrobiome mist. Okay. Then lipid serum and then Maestro and then regular alpharette and then trio. That's what I want.
B
That's what I want.
A
That's what I want. Love it.
B
I feel like I have acne Mechanica, and it always comes back. Please help.
A
So acne Mechanica is basically acne that forms from friction and heat and sweat getting trapped. So if you wear a headband, a helmet, if you're someone that wears really tight clothes when you work out that aren't, like, breathable, basically you don't want to wear, like, super tight bra straps or, like, if you're wearing a bag that's just rubbing constantly. I see this a lot with people that are athletes and people that work out a lot, and people that are in school wearing backpacks, which I don't really think people wear backpacks anymore because they don't need them.
B
That's a crazy thought. They have backpacks, but, like, do you think they don't?
A
I feel like they probably, like, book totes. I don't think kids wear backpacks like that anymore.
B
That's crazy. My backpack used to be, like, £100.
A
I know.
B
That's insane.
A
Yeah. I don't think they need them.
B
And they don't use, like, all their assignments are like. Yeah, I didn't have lockers either. We had too many students. Not enough lockers.
A
Damn, Flowermon. Really cut the budget. Yeah. So wait, what was the question? Oh, Acne Mechanica.
B
How to fix it?
A
How to fix it? Basically, you need to be naked.
B
You have to wear baggy clothes. You can't be cute.
A
No, you can't.
B
Baggie's in.
A
Baggy is in. But you don't know. You don't need to wear baggy. You just don't want things that are tight. And make sure you're cleaning, like, your bra straps. Like, I remember when I had my big old titties, I had, like, one or two bras that I loved. And I'd alternate days. And I'm gonna out myself. Did I wash them every day? No. And so they can get gross and rub back and forth. So just make sure you're cleaning your bra straps for suresies. And then as soon as you're done with whatever sport that you're doing, you want to make sure that you're really nourishing that skin. And Also gently exfoliating it. Sulfur mask would be really good for you. I wonder if it's still sold out.
B
I don't think it is.
A
No one tells me anything in this fucking office. Mad. No one ever tells me when things are back. That's so annoying. When it come back?
B
I don't know.
A
I said, tell me when it comes back so I can post about it. When did it come back?
B
I have no idea.
A
How did y'. All. How did. How do you know?
B
Well, I just saw an email from John saying it had been shipped out and it should be delivered in this time frame. And I.
A
When was that email sent?
B
On Tuesday. Monday.
A
That's really fucking annoying, guys. I've literally said this so many times. I need to be in the loop and know when things are out of stock. When things are in stock. For a long time, nobody would toss me on anything, and I would just be spending all. I'd waste a whole fudgeing hour posting products to sell. And they're like, why are you posting that? It's sold out? And I'm like, well, no one fucking told me. No one fudgeing tells me anything. That's the worst part about getting bigger in your business is shit like, this happens. Like, I know people look and they're like, oh, probably never has any problems. It's, like, bound to happen. I have an amazing team. They're wonderful. But there's, like, certain things that, like, constantly get left out. And it's like, when things are out of stock and in stock, like, it's just like, the ban of my fucking existence. So if I seem frustrated, I am, because I've had this conversation probably 40 times.
B
Not with me. I'm not the one who receives that stuff. I'm in the back with you.
A
Yeah. But just like, you should know by now that they don't tell me, so you need to tell me.
B
But I.
A
If you see it, just be like, yo, Sav, did you know sulfur's back? And I be, yeah, Tyler, I already was told that. Or I'll be like, oh, my God, you're the favorite today. Because no one fucking told me. I'm actually text them about that nicely. Like, I literally wanted to post that yesterday. And I was like, I don't think.
B
It was there yesterday.
A
You said it came back Tuesday.
B
No, I said he sent me the email that it shipped out, so it's not even in the office Monday, Tuesday.
A
So it's not in our physical office.
B
I'm saying I don't know if it's.
A
Not in the office then. I'm not mad.
B
I'm saying I don't know.
A
Okay. I thought you were trying to say that last week it came in.
B
No. God, no.
A
I was really stressed. Okay, nevermind. Disregard that whole rant because, yeah, I don't give a fuck if it shipped out, but we should put it back on the website.
B
Does carboxy mousse cause purging?
A
No.
B
Any products to help my dry and peeling skin?
A
Dry. I'm feeling skin. Sorry, that really just. Like, today's been a fucking day. So this week's been a week. This life's been a fucking life. This year's been a year. This month's been a month.
B
This is the last question.
A
This journey has been a journey. So dry, peeling, flaky skin.
B
I mean, you added flaky, but sure.
A
Well, this probably is. I would say do Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser with refining foam cleanser as your double cleanse. Barrier balance first, then refining foam. I would use Ondo because it's a gentle exfoliation. I would do restorative ha on top, and then I would do Alpharet at night regular. And then I would do Triolux at night. And then I'd use the hydrating enzyme mask a couple times a week.
B
Slay.
A
Slay.
B
We're done.
A
We're done.
B
We're gonna come back with more questions next week. We love you guys. Have a wonderful rest of your.
A
I'm getting to the bottom of this sulfur mass bullshit. Fucking hate owning a business. It's like the best thing ever. But also, it just, like, I think that's what stresses me out so much, is like, I'm so not so hands off. I'm still very hands on, but I'm like, not able to have my hands on every single thing that I used to be able to have my hands on. And obviously when my hands were on it, I was very overwhelmed. But everything was handled because I was always in the know. And now, like, people just, like, don't tell me things. So I'm just like, usually the fucking last person to know stuff now. And it sucks. True.
B
I'm second to last.
A
Like, you know more than I know. I feel like you guys kiki. And then, like, y' all are like, oh, my God, we forgot to tell you. I learned like, eight weeks later, they're like, oh, my God, we totally forgot to tell you. I feel like. And I get it. A lot happens in a day, but I also have a really fucking good memory. And, like, I like to know things. And so they just, like, forget to tell me stuff because, like, a lot of, like, little things happen over the day, and then it's like, do we want to, like, tell her? No, we'll, like, remember it while we're microwaving our Mac and cheese eight months later, and then we'll tell her about it. That's literally what happens.
B
I'm not getting put into this. Yeah, well, you do not.
A
You don't have a good memory sometimes, but that's okay. Anyways, love you guys. You should own a business. It's so fun. It is.
