Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite on Humor Me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week. My guests, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an acapella band with their between songs banter.
Bobby
Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes.

Bobby
Hey everyone, it's Rider Strong and Will Friedle from Pod Meets World. And now the Pod meets Twirled podcast. We're two men who were completely clueless to reality tv and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of Survivor knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just gonna remind you. Aha.
Lunchbox
Who.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Ah.
Bobby
Who?
Amy
Ooh.
Bobby
Again, we are Experts. Listen to Podmeets twirled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Yes you can. A five minute quick and easy calorie burning workout. Give it a try. Come join our sweat sesh on TikTok. It's time for the good news. Tell me something good around the room, Amy.
Amy
So I've been trying to figure out what I'm gonna do when we have vacation this summer. And I think I nailed it down yesterday and I'm feeling really good about it. It's not Paris.
Lunchbox
What is it?
Amy
It's not Paris.
Bobby
Say something good though.
Amy
Well, what feels good is that I. I could easily see that. That time frame sneaking up on me. And then I just go to Colorado to see my sister, which would still. That is great, but I need to see more of the world.
Bobby
Okay, why are you talking down about all this? Like you said, okay, it's not Paris. No, this is good. What is it?
Amy
Because I thought. Because I know that I have on. I've been manifesting Paris and I thought you'd be like, why aren't you going?
Bobby
This is good. I might do that. And tell me something suck. But no.
Amy
Okay.
Bobby
But also, you can go to Paris anytime if this doesn't work.
Amy
Not anytime.
Bobby
Sure. You can go the next year. Go the next year.
Amy
That's what I keep saying. And then I texted my sister yesterday when I was in the midst of trying to figure this out, and I'm like, should we go on the Alaskan cruise? Finally? Because that's what mom wanted to do before our mom passed away. And we were trying to take my mom. And then the doctor was like, she cannot be on a boat for nine days or seven days or however long it is. So we took her to South Padre. It was very different.
Lunchbox
That is very different.
Bobby
And all lovely, but very different.
Amy
Even though a hand. The 45 minute flight from Austin to Padre, by the time she landed, she was feeling sick and she spent most of her time on the porch feeling sick. So I'm like, man, I'm really glad we didn't do the Alaskan cruise and go rogue on the doctor and just be like, you don't know what you're talking about, because that was pretty terrible. But I'm reading this book right now, Winter Garden. And in it, some of the characters are. They just got on an Alaskan cruise and it's two daughters and a mom. And I'm like, what? So I text my sister and I'm like, should this be what we're doing? And then Ray, Ray, you know how you have that cruise guy, you. So he DMed me at some point when we got back from our cruise, and he was like, hey, you ready for that Alaskan cruise? So what does that mean, Ray? Like, does he. Will he hook people up?
Bobby
I wouldn't want to be hooked up. I would just use him as a resource to help you get all the good things that you're going to pay for.
Amy
Oh, have you looked how much Alaskan cruises are?
Bobby
No, I'm just telling you, I'm not going to go anywhere on a boat or an airplane where I'm not actually paying for. I don't want that free because I feel like I'm not going to be safe.
Amy
Oh.
Bobby
Or I'm going to owe somebody.
Amy
What if I just, on the boat had to be like, oh, Alaskan cruise
Bobby
tech, you can do whatever you want. I'm just saying if it's something. If I want to go eat at a restaurant that's different, that's in town, I can leave. That's. I. If I'm be trapped somewhere by boat, water, sea, air. I want to make sure that they're looking out for me, and it's not a free thing. Okay, but that's me.
Amy
Well, I just thought it'd be cool if I. If that worked out.
Bobby
Three Alaskan cruise.
Amy
I call my sister and I'm like, guess what? We got a hookup. All we get to go do this, what we wanted to do with mom. And my sister might be more inclined to be like, oh, are you asking
Bobby
Ray to hook you up with a free Alaskan cruise? To.
Amy
No, the guy messaged me and I haven't replied. Like, I was. As I was asking, what's the deal with him? He's a cruise guy and a friend of Ray's. Ray? What does he do?
Travel Agent
Yeah, he's just a travel agent. And really the great thing with that is they'll give you a pretty sizable discount. And if there's ever an issue, you're get with a travel agent, it's fully refunded, and they can usually convert it to another cruise or something like that. Whereas if you just booked it on your own, sometimes you're screwed.
Amy
Okay. Yeah. I mean, because I. I will pay. You're right, Bobby. I'll pay. But maybe there's. Maybe there's a, you know, you get a free tour of free sunset walk or something. I don't know.
Bobby
So then free sunrise walk. What was Amy doing?
Lunchbox
Yeah, Sunrise.
Amy
Sunrise walk, sunrise walks on the cruise. So this is where I was yesterday. Just kind of. I've got to figure out my vacation. My sister, she never replied about the Alaskan cruise.
Bobby
What's the good in this?
Amy
The good is I think I have a plan, and it's in Arizona. Okay.
Lunchbox
Is it booked? Like, did you do it?
Neighbor or Guest
Sedona?
Amy
Nope. Tucson.
Bobby
You and Vrabel. Oh, it's that place.
Co-host or Friend
Where does.
Amy
Where was.
Bobby
Where was he In Sedona.
Amy
Oh, okay.
Bobby
I don't know where the place was.
Amy
This is Tucson, so it would be different. So my. My friend from college, you know, Lauren, she was my sorority sister. Kappa. It. You know her, right? Yeah.
Bobby
Is that pertinent to the story?
Amy
Kind of. Because she started working with this place, and it's really awesome. And she hit me up a while ago and she was like, I would love for you to go. And I thought, well, maybe now is the time that I go do this experience. And it's very relaxing.
Bobby
That's great. You took us on a wild drive here. We got in the car and we went. I'm not Going to Paris. Okay. My mom, before she died, wanted to go on Alaskan cruise.
Amy
Probably not doing that.
Bobby
Well, probably not gonna do that, but. You think I'm gonna free one from Ray's guy?
Amy
No, I was curious. It's not that it has to be free. I was curious when he texted, when he DM'd me about, are you ready to go on a lesson cruise now? I don't know what that means. So I was saying, is that like a hookup or he. Yeah, to raise point, I guess. He's a travel agent, so he can plan it to make sure you have the best experience and you go on the best cruise because. I don't know. I would like guidance. I've never done it before.
Bobby
But you're not even doing it this time because you're going to Arizona.
Amy
Well, my sister never replied.
Bobby
And I remember the Opry one. Let's start over.
Amy
What?
Lunchbox
The opera?
Amy
That's bad. The opera one I thought was good.
Neighbor or Guest
What did Lauren have to do with anything?
Bobby
Just do the good, and then you can do all the other stuff.
Amy
It's like, I'm just the. Lauren came in a picture of, like.
Bobby
Tell me. Tell me something good.
Amy
I think I know where I'm going for vacation.
Bobby
Oh, yeah? What's up?
Amy
Arizona.
Bobby
Oh, that's cool, right?
Amy
Yeah, it should be cool. This place called Canyon Ranch, and it's like they have, like, hiking and yoga and.
Bobby
That sounds awesome.
Amy
Meditation.
Lunchbox
Yeah, you're gonna have fun there.
Amy
That's my. I called Kat, who co hosts my podcast with me, and she. To see if she had free time during that, because I would be maybe going by myself, and she was like, oh, my gosh, I think I can go during that time. That could be fun.
Bobby
So awesome.
Amy
We might go. And she was like, oh, that sounds like the. Because she's pregnant. And she was like, oh, something relaxing, like, and I'm pregnant. It's like we're doing all these crazy activities or having a. Everything's on the grounds and there's a nice pool. So now Kat and I might do that. And it sort of could be like a podcast retreat, or we could.
Bobby
Don't work. This is vacation.
Amy
We don't have to work. But, like, we. We do need to do some planning because she is pregnant. We do need to figure out our schedule for when she takes maternity leave.
Bobby
Question. That sounds like a fun vacation. Have you considered doing, like, an Alaskan cruise at some point? Because I know before your mom died, that was something that you guys were going to do together.
Amy
Yeah. So I have. Funny you say that, because I just. In the book that I was reading yesterday, they are embarking on an Alaskan cruise. And it's a mom and two daughters. And that was supposed to be my mom and me and my sister. And ever since my mom died 12 years ago, we've thought about going and we haven't gone.
Bobby
That's something to put on the list to do.
Amy
Definitely.
Bobby
Ray's got a guy, too. Ray?
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
Didn't you have a guy?
Travel Agent
Yeah. And he can get you good insurance. And if anything ever goes down, it would be refunded and then also some kickbacks.
Amy
Okay.
Bobby
You should DM him or see if he's ever DM you.
Amy
Okay, I'll check that out.
Bobby
What I don't want you to give up on though, is Paris. Because I still get some point.
Amy
I think I should do that.
Bobby
You should. You don't have to it right now. You got plenty of time. I know you've been kicking the can, but that's such a far trip. That's a kick the can trip. Anyway, it'll be perfect at some point. That's really exciting about your vacation.
Lunchbox
Tucson sounds great, Amy.
Amy
Okay. All right. See how we got there? See?
Lunchbox
No, do you see how I got a.
Neighbor or Guest
Wait, wait.
Amy
Can you see it?
Neighbor or Guest
Can I ask a question?
Amy
Yes. Lunchbox. Ask away.
Neighbor or Guest
What did Lauren have to do with the story? I thought you said you were going with Lauren from college. Sister.
Amy
She just started. She. She just started working for Canyon Ranch. So that came into my mind because she texted me about going and she was like, have you ever tried this out? It's an amazing experience. And so I thought, okay. And they have one on the east coast, and I did the east coast one with my boyfriend, but I've never done the Tucson one, which apparently is the most desirable one. And it's like an amazing. So it popped in my head, like if I'm looking for something. And look, we're down to the wire here, so. Wait, wait, on what?
Lunchbox
Wait, wait, wait.
Amy
Why am I talking?
Co-host or Friend
Yes.
Neighbor or Guest
I just needed. I got confused. I thought you were going
Bobby
to.
Amy
No, it's just that I'm trying to brainstorm ideas of where to go, and I think it should be domestic because I. I'm a little too late for international. I feel like plane tickets would be crazy. And then that gets me thinking about how I'm not using my credit card points effectively because I follow all these people on Instagram. They're like flying first class with a bed, and they're like, you can't look
Bobby
at people on Instagram.
Amy
No, no, no. They're like. They're like, I'm a normal person. I paid $56.
Bobby
They start with, I'm a normal person.
Amy
Because you think people with that. It's like this. They've. They paid all this money, but they're like, no, I have a normal wage. I make normal money. And I paid $59 for this bed to Europe. And they're like. Because I used credit card points. And I'm like, am I doing credit card points all wrong? Like, sure. My flight to Tucson might be free on Southwest because my points. No, no, no. I want a free. I want a 59 flight to Europe with a bed.
Bobby
That's probably a lot of points. That's a lot of points.
Amy
I can get points.
Bobby
Thank you for your story. I think it's good. I still don't have an idea what we're doing for vacation, because we don't know. We can do probably nothing with the baby. Yeah, probably nothing. We may go to Fayetteville or something. I don't know.
Amy
Yeah, it is hard with a newborn.
Bobby
Yeah. So I don't have one. So that's. That's good for you. You know, something I saw yesterday that was really weird, I was looking on our YouTube page, which I hope people go over to our YouTube and subscribe. It's obbyboneshow. That's the show page. And I saw our personal tell me something good clip. And if you pull up the screen cap of it, it says, tell me something good. And there's always a sub, which is like, an indicator of what we're going to talk about. And today it could be like, tell me something good. Amy has crazy vacation plans where it leads you into going, oh, this is going to be good. Or, tell me something good. Lunchbox. Won a hundred bucks in the lottery. And then you. You know, that's what we're going to talk about, but it's always in the positive. Yesterday, I'm not kidding, it said, tell me something good. Bobby realizes baby Billy will never meet his mom.
Lunchbox
That's what it said.
Amy
Oh, yeah. That was the.
Bobby
That was it. That's not. When you read exactly what. But that's not. Tell me something good. And that's not good. That was me just matching Amy's vulnerable moment. I was like, that said, that's not. Tell me something good.
Lunchbox
Huh?
Bobby
It was the weird. I want to let Mike pull that one up. But I read that and was like, that is not. Yeah, that's like, walmart that's like if AI wrote it. If it just listened to it and wrote one. Yeah.
Pet Owner
Hey, I just followed what Mike did. I. I get sent titles and I just pluck it in.
Lunchbox
Oh,
Bobby
read it.
Co-host or Friend
Bobby on his mom never getting to meet baby Billy.
Amy
That's the.
Bobby
Tell me something good.
Pet Owner
That was the title for the podcast yesterday. So I follow what Mike does, but a little bit.
Bobby
If Mike jumped off a cliff. Because that's a yes. That's.
Lunchbox
That's.
Bobby
I didn't know who did it.
Amy
So.
Bobby
Podcast labeled weird. I didn't see that one. I never look at the podcast. I did. I do look at the videos. If Mike jumped off a cliff, would you.
Amy
No.
Pet Owner
But also, he has a better beat on maybe something you want that maybe I don't understand.
Amy
Fair enough.
Pet Owner
So I'm just kind of following, and maybe I don't quite know all the information. So I'm just fair.
Bobby
That's an absolutely fair answer. I just wondered. I just thought it was bizarre when I saw. Tell me something good. Bobby's mom died and will never meet her grandkid.
Co-host or Friend
I will say in that one. Not a lot of people had something good in that. Tell me something good.
Amy
Well, I did.
Bobby
Amy did.
Amy
It was spontaneously, go drop in on your friends and like, that's a cool moment.
Bobby
But then it's definitely not. Bobby never meet his grandma.
Lunchbox
What was Amy's again?
Amy
Mine was that I. My son had to go to church, and I decided to pop in at my friend's house because I think I was looking at it as. We don't do that enough. Like, pop in on our friends.
Lunchbox
How do you put that one in Title. That was tough.
Bobby
I don't remember everybody. Oh, I don't remember me either.
Amy
Oh, I do. I know Eddie's.
Lunchbox
Oh, it's my son's award.
Amy
Yes.
Bobby
Oh, Eddie's son wins a big award. It doesn't matter. The. The one that was not good was Bobby's baby will never meet its grandmother.
Amy
But you only ended up saying that because I was saying when I popped in on my friend. She's pregnant. Was showing me her stroller, and then I was sad. I'm never gonna have a str Roller because.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Oh, my gosh.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Amy
Amy reflects on her infertility.
Bobby
That's today's Dang. Okay, tell me something good, Eddie.
Amy
Who's next?
Lunchbox
Yeah, let's see if this could be a title.
Bobby
My.
Lunchbox
Oh, I went to my last. My last ever kindergarten graduation. My last. Do you know how many of these I've been to? Sad Nah, I'm happy. Like, we've been to so many of these because a lot of my kids have repeated grades just because we hold. We hold them back for educational reasons, whatever. But so they've like, they've redone kindergarten twice. So I've probably done six, seven, seven kindergarten graduations. We're done.
Bobby
But why would they graduate kindergarten if they didn't get to graduate kindergarten?
Amy
Oh, well, they just decided to re. Enroll them again.
Lunchbox
They redo it.
Bobby
But don't you decide that before graduation?
Lunchbox
Yeah, well, yeah, they're like, are they going to do kindergarten again? You're like, yeah, let's just do kindergarten.
Bobby
But then they do graduation anyway.
Amy
Yes, well, yeah, because they're with their.
Bobby
But they didn't graduate.
Amy
Yeah, but they did.
Lunchbox
They graduated.
Bobby
No, they don't. No, no, they didn't graduate that year.
Lunchbox
They did. They're just. They did go again.
Amy
It's elective.
Bobby
I know. But they didn't graduate even if you're holding.
Amy
Yeah, but you're gonna tell the kindergartner. You don't get to go to your.
Bobby
They don't even know about it.
Lunchbox
They're fine. Oh, they know.
Amy
They know.
Lunchbox
They know.
Amy
They know. And you can't.
Bobby
They're like, why am I in the same grade? I just graduated.
Amy
No, you just say, this is what everybody.
Lunchbox
You know what's funny about that though? Like when you do two graduations like that they have, they always say, what do you want to be when you grow up? They always have different answers.

Bobby
The worst?
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Yeah, Me. Is there anything to the idea that because you're from Harvard, you only got in because your parents made a huge
Bobby
donation to the group? The Yardbirds. Right. That's the.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
The Name the Harvard Yard, but they're
Bobby
open if you have a name suggestion.
Lunchbox
We're open.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Since you guys are middle aged. One erection. Listen to Humor Me with Robert Smigel and friends on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.

I'm Dr. Maya Shankar, a cognitive scientist and host of the podcast A Slight Change of Plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation.
Amy
There is one finding that is consistent and and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships.
Bobby
I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Dr. Maya Shankar
Listen to A Slight Change of plans on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Amy
The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.

Lunchbox
It's like if that's what you said the first time, you should say that the second time.
Amy
Every year it changes.
Bobby
It could change, but year two, they're showing the other kids where to sit. They're like leading it.
Lunchbox
No, no, no, guys, I've done this before.
Bobby
Over here. Lunchbox. Tell me something good.
Travel Agent
Yeah.
Neighbor or Guest
Last night one of the neighbors, I guess she went shopping and she made some pasta with some cheese in the middle of it and some spinach and she bought too many ingredients, so she had an extra pan. So dinner for us. You dropped it by the house.
Bobby
That's nice.
Neighbor or Guest
Yeah, it's really good too. And the kids Devoured it.
Lunchbox
Lunchbox gets dinner for free. Oh, are we.
Bobby
Oh, we can figure out the title at the end. Is that what we have to do now? I'm just starting to think on this.
Co-host or Friend
If y' all want to just speak in headlines, that'll really help.
Bobby
Morgan.
Pet Owner
I finally figured out my dog's dress for the wedding.
Bobby
What?
Pet Owner
So. So her and my cat are my something blue. And I have them dressed in blue outfits, but I had to get Remy, like, a customized dress, and it came from Ukraine, but the first one that arrived was, like, for a lab, and Remy's like £20. So then I had to send the dress back to Ukraine, and it was a whole thing because the package almost didn't get a go because of the war. But it made it back and she was able to adjust it and. And now it has arrived and it is perfectly customized to her little body. And she looks adorable.
Amy
That's cute.
Bobby
A lot of odd elements in that story.
Lunchbox
Yeah. The dog's going to wear a dress
Bobby
that she ordered from Ukraine and there's
Lunchbox
a war going on. Yeah.
Bobby
Maybe it's just Friday, you know, could be that's why everybody's feeling a little odd.
Amy
What? I feel like everything's been great.
Bobby
Yeah.
Amy
With everybody.
Bobby
Yeah. Last night I had a long day yesterday, so I did the whole show. I went and I did a four hour shoot for pilot. Shoot some content for them. It was excellent.
Amy
Pilot the gas stations.
Bobby
Yes.
Lunchbox
What's the other pilot flying planes.
Bobby
No, that's not a company. So I'm just curious.
Amy
I was just clarifying.
Bobby
Got it. Glad you did. Thank you. So I shoot for pilot the gas stations instead of.
Amy
Yeah. It could be for pilot.
Bobby
Pilot Lights, Sully.
Lunchbox
Pilot.
Amy
Sully, Pilot, Pilot magazine.
Bobby
And a lot of times, if I'm doing that. And I shot with two different artists. I shot with Thelma and James, and we did like a driving thing. And then we go back to the gas station and that shot with Larry Fleet, we go back to the gas station and they have really good food there. Kind of one of their things. Kind of like European gas stations, where they have really good food at European gas stations when you're driving through. So pilot. That's something they're really focusing on. They brought their corporate chef in that does. And so we're talking with him about the food. And usually if I do this and have to eat something over and over again, I get really tired of it. But they had a chicken tenders, so I had to shoot it like six times. Chicken tenders were awesome. No dairy. The sauce has like honey mustard. It. It's like a honey mustard type sauce. So that was good. Drove home after not home. Drove to the Bobby Cast studio and interviewed Gavin Rossdale, the lead singer of Bush.
Lunchbox
That's awesome.
Bobby
Which was a band that I loved growing up. We got invited to the show tonight. I can't go.
Lunchbox
Really? Yeah, I can't go.
Bobby
Yeah, I knew you couldn't. But he was really nice and real. Right, Mike?
Co-host or Friend
He was awesome.
Bobby
Like super cool. And you never know about like those either. Guys that are not Nashville, they come from LA or Europe. London. Yeah, he's LA now because sometimes LA guys, they feel like, because the LA culture, they have to present themselves as something bigger than they are. Always doesn't matter how big you are, you got to present yourself something bigger. Nashville's the opposite. No matter how big you are, you have to present yourself as something smaller so that you seem nice and relatable. And he was really nice. And that'll be a while before it comes out. But we had a really good time and so I had an extremely long day where I was just hype, just exhausted at the end of the day. But everything just kind of worked out really well. That kind of kept me up. So I was grateful for that. At the end of the day. Nice because it started really early and I didn't get home till 6:30 or 7 and then I had to go right to baby until like 9:30. I did sleep hard last night though.
Lunchbox
But that's good.
Bobby
Gavin Rossdale was really nice. That's my. Tell me something good. Not that I was worried, but this is what happens too. I've kind of gamed the system a little bit, built these studios, not my house studios, not the ones we work at for the radio show, bought a couple buildings, built them out for the Netflix studio for sports studio. So super nice. I'm super excited and proud of them. All my own money. And when you come in there is a specific waiting area, like a lobby and I own the building. So there's like an Arkansas old football picture, but it's like a ticket from the 1960s that's blown up. There's a picture of me in a theater, the Little Rock Theater. And it's a sold out show and it's like me from behind in the crowd. It's one of my favorite pictures. There's like the million dollar show signs and people would come in and just assume I'm like this. That don't know me, assume I'm like this wildly famous Stand up comedian. And so then I have some other plaques said, well, I just should capitalize in it. So, yeah, I toured for four or five years doing stand up pretty regularly, but I never got good. I got okay to pretty good, but I never got good. But I have all these sold out plaques, like 30 sold out theater shows in a row. So I put a couple of those up in that room because now it's basically the museum of me. There's a big frame picture of when I got in the Radio hall of Fame. So, like, Gavin Rossdale comes in, doesn't know who I am, obviously, because he's Gavin Rossdale. He's from London, he's from the 90s, he's Bush. It does not collide with our world in any way. By seeing all this, he thinks I'm this wildly famous standup comedian. So during the interview, he's like, you know what? It's like, you're a massively famous comedian.
Co-host or Friend
I'm telling you.
Bobby
So people that don't know me just see this, and now they think I'm something, that I'm really not.
Lunchbox
So funny.
Bobby
It's so funny. And I didn't plan on that happening, but I started to notice that with people who did not know me or what I did, they just were told, hey, this podcast is big. We should go do it. But what they're collecting in that room, what they're gathering, is that I'm this wildly successful comedian. And they bring it in. They're like, you get it right? If you notice that, Mike. Yeah, it's so funny.
Co-host or Friend
It's always interesting, like what they gravitate towards from your career. And then he went full on in the comedy.
Bobby
Full on. Dude. Dude. Thought I was Chris Rock.
Lunchbox
That's awesome.
Bobby
And so I wasn't initially the plan, but now there's enough stuff in there that you can kind of pick your own adventure on what you think I was good at, which I was just kind of medium at a lot of stuff. But it's kind of funny that the lobby now tells people that don't know me a story that's not 100 accurate.
Amy
Yeah.
Co-host or Friend
Should we just Photoshop some pictures of you with, like, world leaders?
Bobby
Me and Gandhi. It's me and Gandhi.
Co-host or Friend
You went to the moon.
Bobby
And that wasn't the initial idea of putting that stuff up. I just didn't have anything else to put up. Like, it's like my building. And so now, to me, that's hilarious when people come in and have no idea and they think that's really? What? It is. So Gavin Rossdale, really cool guy. That's mine. What's the headline from this?
Co-host or Friend
You want to hear my two options?
Bobby
Yeah, go ahead.
Co-host or Friend
I have Bobby has awesome experience with celebrity, or Amy has crazy vacation plans.
Bobby
How about.
Amy
Can you merge the two? Yeah, Amy's crazy vacay plans.
Bobby
Oh, you did vacay, too? To save characters. Amy's crazy vacay plans. Slash, bobby meets awesome 90s celebrity. Because I think 90s is a little quirky element that maybe would interest people more than just celebrity. Will that fit? Yeah. Okay, cool. Not, like, tell me something good. Eddie's dad died.
Lunchbox
But I never said that.
Bobby
I know, but.
Lunchbox
All right.
Bobby
There you go. That's what it's all about. It's time for the good news with Bobby. Tell me something good. 22 years ago, this Colorado Springs firefighter helped deliver a baby in an emergency situation. 22 years ago? Well, she's graduating college. And he kept up with her and went to the graduation.
Amy
That's awesome.
Bobby
That's pretty crazy. 2004, got an emergency call. He went in, helped deliver her at the family's home. The mom, after they got out of the hospital, brought the newborn to the fire station to thank him. They stayed connected. Graduation comes, and he's there.
Amy
That's cool.
Lunchbox
It's amazing.
Bobby
That's all. That's wild. Just getting called in to deliver a baby. And you're not a doctor, but you have the skills because you're a firefighter. Yeah. You go to somebody's house, just how wet it is.
Lunchbox
The birth.
Bobby
Yeah, I saw it. They start pulling out trash bags. You're like, oh, this is a Carrot Top show or something. I was gonna make a Gallagher reference, but nobody was gonna get that. Gallagher.
Neighbor or Guest
No, don't do that. Thank you for not doing that.
Bobby
Yeah. You ever see the guy with the. The big.
Lunchbox
Oh, I know.
Bobby
The watermelons. Sledgehammer. The watermelons.
Neighbor or Guest
That's not Thor.
Bobby
Well, Thor has a hammer, but Gallagher was the comedian that had the sledgehammer, and he hit the watermelon. Entire audience would get soaked by the. No, no. That's why they do that.
Amy
Now we know. Now we know.
Bobby
Scooby, you know Gallagher.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
Oh, my God.
Lunchbox
Yeah. They even even saw specials on tv.
Bobby
Yeah.
Lunchbox
Advertised Sunday nights, like, Gallagher. And, like, all he did was just smash watermelons.
Bobby
It was before us, but they would show it on, like, Nick at night and stuff.
Lunchbox
He had wacky hair. He was, like, bald with, like, the hair along the sides.
Bobby
Yeah. To make a guy.
Lunchbox
Oh, I remember that guy?
Neighbor or Guest
Yeah.
Lunchbox
He wore a suit. Did he wear a suit? Like, wacky 80s, like pink shirts? I do remember that guy.
Bobby
Anyway, the firefighter. Great job, man. Alan Kent. Shout out Alan Kent and Gallagher. I'm not even sure if Gallagher's alive, but shout out Alan Kent, who is alive and Gallagher. That is what it's all about. It's time for the good news with Amy. Tell me something good.
Amy
Now, this just shows that little acts of kindness add up and can be really powerful. This woman, Juliet Burl in Las Vegas, she's a substitute teacher, a mother of 10, a grandmother of eight. So I imagine she doesn't have a lot of free time, but she has launched a campaign called Cards of Kindness. And what she does is she starts just mailing out cards and notes to friends and family. Well, that grew through social media and requests from people across the country. So then she started personalizing message of support and positivity. And now so many people have joined in, and Cards of Kindness is spreading all over.
Bobby
That's when you trademarked that brand, Cards of Kindness. Cards of Kindness.
Amy
Cards of Kindness.
Bobby
You sell packs of Cards of Kindness.
Amy
Not a bad idea.
Bobby
But then you donate the money. Of course.
Lunchbox
Of course.
Amy
Horror. Yeah. To buy more cards.
Bobby
So this is just a nice handwriting hand card campaign, right?
Amy
Yeah, it's just something that she thought of as a way that she could spread kindness across the country. And it's working. It's. It's actually spreading. And so it's just encouragement of writing someone else a thoughtful little note.
Bobby
That's one thing I wish I did more of, is write nice notes or even thank you cards. Really bad at handwriting in general. And I think that's my excuse, because it's not a real excuse.
Amy
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't have to be long, though. I think it's.
Bobby
It's not. I know it's not. It's not a real excuse.
Lunchbox
Can you just write thank you, Bobby? Or does it have to be a
Bobby
little more than, I'd rather not get a note? It's like if somebody gives me a card for something, a birthday card, and they just write, thanks, Mike. Oh, I'm like, I didn't even want the card. Like, you could have just said, thanks for all that.
Amy
My dad used to just find the perfect card at the store, and then he would underline the keywords and then sign his name.
Bobby
That was his love language, though. But you knew that about him.
Amy
I know, but he did. He did it to my sister and I were talking about it the other Day we were like, oh, we could be like dad and just get a card and underline it.
Podcast Host (Robert Smigel or similar)
What were the words?
Amy
He would do it. He would do it to us as the kids, but also his. We'd find him like to his wife and stuff a card on the counter underlined. And he wouldn't even sign his full name. He just signed C. Oh, dang. For Cliff.
Bobby
Did he have a hard time being vulnerable?
Amy
Yes. Very taught.
Bobby
That was taught to him.
Amy
Not, I guess, model. I mean, I don't know. He lost his dad when he was only a month old, so he never knew his dad. And his mom died when he was 19 and he was the youngest of a lot of kids, so I think
Bobby
he had to be strong.
Amy
He just had to finger quote, strong that way.
Bobby
Dang.
Amy
So like he was only sibling left at the house when he was 18 or 19. And when his mom died, all the other ones were already off. So I think he carried a lot and just like learned to shut off some things so he didn't have to really feel, I guess.
Bobby
But did you ever say, dad, write it along or note?
Amy
No, of course. It's not something I really even thought about until after he was dead. And then my sister and I were like, huh, that's interesting how he used to do that. But that, you're right, that was his way. I mean, we kind of laugh about it now, but gosh, he probably didn't have another way.
Bobby
That's the first thing I thought of when you said that is that's not him avoiding. It's him not knowing how to do it.
Amy
And that was his best way to.
Bobby
I'm sure he showed you in other ways.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby
That he loved you.
Amy
Yeah, I think I know that he loved me. I think I would have just appreciated more time or love.
Bobby
Languages didn't match.
Amy
I know it'd be like well paid for your college.
Bobby
Massive love language from him. Yeah, providing.
Amy
Yeah, no, he provided. Even probably when I didn't. It maybe wasn't the easiest for him. Depending on where we were in the roller coaster of finances, ups and downs.
Bobby
Well, I should write. I should write better notes.
Amy
What are we doing? Tell me something.
Lunchbox
Yeah, this was. Tell me something good.
Neighbor or Guest
What was this?
Bobby
Tell me something good.
Amy
Plus therapy, cards of kindness.
Bobby
There you go. That's what it's all about. That was. Tell me something good.
Amy
This is an I heart podcast.
Bobby
Guaranteed human.

This uplifting and humorous episode of "The Bobby Bones Show" centers on the “Tell Me Something Good” segment: the cast shares personal moments of gratitude and joy, from Amy’s evolving summer vacation ideas to Bobby’s interview with a 90s rock legend, and various little moments of kindness from around the room. The cast dives into relatable conversations about family, personal growth, and the small acts that make life better—all with their signature banter.
A Parade of Small Joys and Heartwarming Tales
Amy, on choosing her trip:
“I think I know where I’m going for vacation ... Arizona. This place called Canyon Ranch, and it’s like they have hiking and yoga and meditation.”
‒ Amy (07:47)
Bobby, on handling free travel:
“If I’m trapped somewhere by boat, water, sea, air—I want to make sure they’re looking out for me, and it’s not a free thing.”
‒ Bobby (04:35)
On Gratitude and Legacy:
“I wish that I hadn’t resisted for so long the need to change … we have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.”
‒ Bobby (18:21)
On studio ‘myth-building’:
“I wasn’t initially the plan, but now ... you can kinda pick your own adventure on what you think I was good at, which I was just kinda medium at a lot of stuff. … the lobby now tells people a story that’s not 100 percent accurate.”
‒ Bobby (26:18/26:36)
The episode is buoyant and spontaneous, filled with genuine laughter, relatable vulnerability, and playful teasing. The cast is loose, jumping from heartfelt stories to light sarcasm, encouraging each other through life transitions, big and small.
This episode’s heart lies in celebrating life’s wins—both big (childhood dreams and career highlights) and small (friendly favors, sentimental traditions). Amy’s “crazy” vacation journey provides the episode’s thread, while Bobby’s brush with a 90s rock legend adds zest. The team’s banter about show titles, social media illusions, and the meaning of gratitude is as funny as it is genuinely touching.
It’s a must-listen for anyone in need of a laughter-laced lift and a reminder that joy is often found in life’s winding detours and little kindnesses.
