Bobby Bones
Abbott trying to put you through.
Mike D
Mike D's riding his wig's next bit and Bobby's on the mic. So you know what? This is the Bobby Vaughn show. Bobby's big stories. The school's evacuated as a kid brings an explosive to show and tell.
Amy
Oh, I see.
Mike D
I wonder if there are any parents out there that would call us if they had a story about their kid accidentally taking something to school they shouldn't. Now, it doesn't have to be your meth. Oh, yeah, no, yeah, you know.
Bobby Bones
Right, right, right, right.
Lunchbox
Your meth.
Bobby Bones
I took a bullet.
Mike D
So that would be one. Right. That they just grabbed. And from what you guys tell me, you can't control a kid all the time. Correct. Yeah.
Bobby Bones
So it's tough, especially when you have four.
Mike D
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody at junior high school had to be evacuated after a kid brought in an explosive device to show and tell. It was not the normal fire drill for children because, well, it wasn't a drill and there wasn't a fake fire but a historic incendiary device which is something that would explode. The item was presented in class and the school was calmly evacuated. The school said all necessary processes were followed. It sounds like it was an old bomb or something. Like an old. It doesn't say technically, but if they're. Yes. If they're saying historic. Yes.
Bobby Bones
Like an old mine, probably. You know, you know one of those like that you step on.
Mike D
No, I know what a mine is. I never even thought. Think about a mine.
Bobby Bones
I think it would have said grenade. Right.
Mike D
They didn't say anything. He brings in like a missile launcher. Check this out. That's from the Daily Mail. Yeah. And I bet you he just thought it was something cool to take. His parents might have Even thought it was something cool and old to take, not knowing that it could still explode. And maybe it couldn't still explode, but it was one of those where you better just get everybody out just in case. Southwest, this is another flight story which yesterday we learned what the flight deck means. Flight deck? It means. It's the other word for cockpit, Right?
Amy
Yeah.
Mike D
And then Amy went a little too long on elaborating why we don't call. It was just a thing, right?
Amy
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike D
But here's another story. Southwest passengers evacuate a smoke filled plane after a smartphone and a seat burst into flames. How does the phone catch on fire? Let me tell you this. I'm on my phone 24 hours a day. I don't know how. If any phone was going to catch on fire, it would be mine. And it never has.
Amy
Does it say the brand a phone?
Mike D
Well, let me get into it. Passengers were forced to evacuate after a phone battery caught on fire. But, like, I can't even see my battery because it's in my phone, right?
Bobby Bones
You can't get to that?
Mike D
No.
Bobby Bones
They have to open that up.
Mike D
So everybody saw the smoke. It filled the back of the cabin. The incident occurred. 107 passengers were aboard the flight. They were going to Houston. A smartphone started smoking, filling the cabin. A seat caught on fire. Like, what is this? Like a flip Zack Moore's flip phone?
Amy
Yeah. I don't know. That's why I'm curious about it. But sometimes, you know, I need a charger. And I'll grab one gas station, like if I'm traveling, like, I need this charger. And then those get really, really, really, really hot.
Mike D
Like the crappy chargers. Yes.
Amy
And then I get nervous that, like, while I'm charging my phone, something's gonna catch on fire.
Mike D
Yeah. Sometimes if I can't get any charge on my phone, I just put a lighter under it and burn the bottom of it and hopefully it'll like, generate power. No, no, no, no. But next up, new research finds the optimal time kids should dedicate to homework in an evening.
Amy
Like the amount of time or exactly what time we should be doing it?
Mike D
Hey, take a breath.
Amy
Like, should we do it?
Mike D
Yeah, let's not be.
Amy
Is 6pm Ideal? Or should we only do it for two hours? Or is four hours?
Mike D
So this is what that. It's like the duration.
Amy
Okay, duration.
Mike D
Oh, yeah, we're all gonna. We're in a good place. Listen, we have a good life. We're good.
Amy
Whatever it is, we exceed it. Go ahead.
Mike D
Spending more than 70 minutes on homework only produces very small gains. 90 to 100 minutes causes performance to decline about an hour. And that hour doesn't have to be consecutive. But they say if you do about an hour a night dedicated, that is the perfect amount and not really much more. Now, there are times when we have to do more, just work in general. There are times you have to do less. But you could also be that kid that just crushes. Dude, I would go home. I did homework for a living. Not even my own.
Lunchbox
Shouldn't brag about that.
Bobby Bones
No, you made money off of it.
Mike D
That's what I did.
Bobby Bones
That's cool.
Mike D
I had no money. So I would be in seventh grade doing 10th graders homework. Having to learn it by the time I got to 10th grade, I'd be like, are you kidding? I've been cheating for years giving kids homework. You've already done that homework. I got this.
Amy
Well, it's sort of like the opposite here. I'm 43, doing a seventh grader's homework.
Mike D
But I bet it's the same. Like I had to learn it in the same way that you had to learn it. And I'm not comparing us to those ages. Our mental capacities. Yes, but you have to learn what again, right? What they're doing.
Amy
Yes. And it's just. It takes us longer than an hour. And you're like, yeah, two hours.
Mike D
A little bit. They're talking about schools as well.
Amy
Like, how much?
Mike D
Not just parents. They're not just going, hey, parents, you're. Yeah, it's like school should only give out enough. That would be an hour, right?
Amy
That doesn't happen, I don't think.
Bobby Bones
No, it doesn't.
Mike D
Take a breath. We're gonna move on. We're gonna move to the next story.
Bobby Bones
Not happen.
Mike D
Yeah, we're good, huh? Feel good about that? Yeah.
Amy
I mean, sometimes, honestly, we just don't get it. We don't get it done.
Mike D
We're gonna move on though.
Amy
I'm like, just, Just. We didn't get it done. Like, we're probably just gonna move on.
Mike D
Next segment though, you know, take a. Yeah.
Amy
And those dang quizzes on schoology or whatever. Oh, my gosh.
Bobby Bones
Stupid dude.
Amy
So I go in here and I take the quiz and then I'm like, well, I feel like I got every one of them right. And I just got a 50mm last night.
Bobby Bones
We just didn't know how to do it. We got the answer right.
Mike D
I was trying to move on. Yeah, I felt that.
Amy
I mean, it's just a practice round. Then he get my Son got to do it. But I got a 50. And I was like, how? How did I get a 50? I know that I got these, right? I asked Alexa.
Bobby Bones
Exactly.
Mike D
So anyway, we're gonna move on. Wait, what? Did you almost say a bad word?
Amy
No, I was saying.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I thought you were.
Amy
Said she taught me wrong. When I asked my device to teach me how to do it, she taught me wrong.
Mike D
Yeah, we're gonna move on then. You good? 50.
Amy
It's not even passing. And my daughter's like, I think that's an F. Exactly. I know it is. I know it is.
Mike D
Yeah.
Amy
Yeah. And then my daughter's like, yeah, y'all are stupid. And then I'm like, whoa, calm down. We're trying to figure this out. And she's like, I think they're gonna have to lower. Like, 50's gonna have to become passing, because people are just getting dumber and dumber.
Mike D
Okay, Move on to the next thing. So. All right.
Amy
Bobby, have you done homework as an adult with your children?
Mike D
No, I have no children.
Amy
Come on over.
Mike D
No.
Bobby Bones
Oh, yeah.
Mike D
Oh, my gosh.
Amy
I could pay you just like you used to make money when you were young.
Mike D
I don't need the money anymore.
Bobby Bones
Are you sure?
Mike D
That was out of necessity.
Bobby Bones
We'll pay well.
Mike D
Yeah.
Amy
Yeah.
Mike D
I don't think so. That was out of necessity. Like, okay, well, I guess that's it. That's the news. Thank you. Bobby's B Stories. I had to leave studio sick yesterday after we finished the show. I left studio sick, and it's fine. We finished the show. That was great. Excellent. So I think I got, like, a stomach bug because I don't have, like, sinus stuff. I don't have. It's not Covid. I just had Covid. I think I got some stomach bug, and so I'm battling through it, and every extra day I get sick. I'm like, well, it must be a 48 hour bug. And then it turns into. Well, it's one of those 72 hour bugs.
Amy
I think there's maybe a little denial on what of, like, what bug it is. I think it's a bug bug.
Bobby Bones
Well, it did go from food poisoning.
Mike D
To bugs because it lasted longer.
Amy
Right. And now that's information. That's data. And I just think that.
Mike D
And also, my desk is so separated from everybody.
Amy
Yeah, you're fine. I don't fear.
Lunchbox
Yeah, that's just Amy coming from Amy, who came here with COVID No fear here.
Amy
All good. Come to work sick.
Mike D
Question, question two. Two questions. One, because I went to the bathroom. Disappeared for half an hour yesterday during the show. Was that noticeable?
Amy
Yes.
Bobby Bones
Yeah. Yeah.
Amy
Because you don't do that.
Mike D
I don't even go to the bathroom during the show. Yeah.
Amy
I thought you honestly like somebody pulled you into a meeting.
Mike D
Yeah. Usually I like put tape over my bathroom holes so I never have to go. Just to make sure.
Amy
No, you don't.
Mike D
Yeah. Before I come in, I duct tape cover both holes and it just, it just stays.
Amy
I know you're joking right now, but now I wonder if you've honestly thought about that.
Mike D
Well, obviously I just said it. You know, he's thought of it.
Amy
He's like, would it work?
Mike D
It was. It was a rough one yesterday. So I finished the show, went home immediately and just basically laid in the bed all day. But Amy came in yesterday because we were doing stuff early and she was like, I can't move my neck. How's that?
Amy
It's gotten better, I think. I don't know what happened. I. I did some diff stretches last night and this morning, so hopefully we're on the mend. It's just like every once in a while my neck just starts to go out. I think it's an age thing, but I was running up my stairs before I left my house and tripped a little bit and I think that that took me out of alignment. But we're good.
Mike D
That sounds like exactly what it was.
Amy
Yeah. It's probably the part of it you were waiting for me to tell, but I didn't want to say again that I tripped because I don't know, like the steps are the same steps I walk up every single day. So like what's different? Why would I. Why would I trip on it?
Mike D
You know, you should use some tape and cover your holes. It helps me with the balance.
Amy
It's just like, I don't. It's a depth perception thing.
Mike D
And today it's good.
Amy
Yeah, I'm feeling better. But I had to do I YouTube some stretches actually.
Mike D
Cricking necks.
Bobby Bones
The worst. Yeah. Cuz you don't realize how much you turn your neck.
Mike D
Like if we listed the worst. And let's take out really bad stuff like cancer and aids, Ebola, like the really killers. Right. So that's not. That's the worst worst. But let's do like the worst when it's really not the worst, but it feels like it's the worst. For example, an ulcer in your mouth. When you get one of those so bad, it's the worst day and you.
Amy
Keep biting it more and More.
Mike D
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Your tooth is like rubbing it.
Mike D
Yeah.
Lunchbox
Oh, I got it. I got one right now.
Mike D
So that. That is the worst. I'll give you another one. Well, it's. For me, it's a lot of mouth stuff because I talk all day.
Bobby Bones
What you got?
Mike D
Oh, no, I'm not like him. I don't have any right now, but I got.
Lunchbox
I mean, the white spot in my.
Mike D
Mouth when you get a big knot on your tongue.
Lunchbox
Oh, yeah.
Mike D
It's called a lie bump. But it was a big one.
Lunchbox
Yeah.
Mike D
Do you guys ever get told about lie bombs?
Amy
Lie.
Lunchbox
I don't know what we got told about them. I know they're there.
Amy
Do you think you got it because you were lying?
Mike D
Oh, my mind's blown. If your grandmas didn't tell you about lie bumps.
Bobby Bones
No.
Lunchbox
Is that why they said it? You got it because you lied?
Mike D
I wonder if this is a Southern.
Bobby Bones
Thing and you're just realizing this.
Mike D
Oh, did you see me grab my head? Oh, my God. I thought everybody knew about lie bumps. So it's the. It's like if you get a bump on your tongue.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, Another bump.
Mike D
I was told I got those because.
Bobby Bones
I lied and you had lied. So you're like, of course I lied.
Mike D
I lied all the time. I was a little kid telling stories.
Amy
Did you have a lot of bumps?
Mike D
Not a lot, but they would come, like, every few. I would get a big one and you keep biting it because anything in your mouth, your mouth is intricately designed where you're just, like, closing it and missing things by a millimeter. So you get a lie bump. I can't believe they weren't called lie bumps to you guys. So lie bumps, also known as transient lingual papillitis, are small, painful bumps that appear on the tongue. They are caused by inflamed or enlarged papillae, the tiny bumps that contain taste buds and they cover the tongue. They occur when something irritates. It could be poor oral hygiene. Absolutely. Could have been me. Never went to the dentist till my twenties eating spicy foods. I don't do that. Stress as a kid. Don't know. Allergies. I'd have them now, but I can't believe they weren't live bumps. I'm gonna go home and think that. Huh.
Amy
I never heard of that.
Mike D
Okay, so that's one of the worst.
Amy
One mine right now is my foot cramps up a lot, my toes spread out real wide.
Mike D
Is that the worst?
Amy
Well, it's the worst me right now because there's nothing I can do.
Mike D
About it.
Amy
It's likely dehydration, so I should just get ahead of it and drink water.
Mike D
What about lie bumps? Like live foot?
Amy
No, but like, my toes, like, they spread out like this really far apart, and then I just. I can hold my foot up and my foot's like this, and there's nothing I can do about it. And it's so painful. Like, I don't even want to touch it.
Bobby Bones
Sounds like a cramp.
Mike D
It is, but it is dehydration. Because athletes, you need to eat bananas. Yeah.
Amy
Pickle juice.
Mike D
Yeah. Drink water.
Amy
Yeah. I got some electrolytes, so, you know, we'll see.
Mike D
But another one is. And I don't think just. Just throwing up generally sucks, but when you can't stop. What do you mean?
Amy
Or there's nothing left and you keep having a gap. Yeah.
Mike D
And it's like you can't control. Like, you have no control. Sometimes when you throw up, you don't have control, but you can kind of like, hold on, hold on, hold on. That. And I've never been, like, drunk, like, throw up, but I imagine that's what that's like.
Bobby Bones
Dude, you don't even know that's coming. It's just like that. What's up?
Mike D
That's the worst. Yeah. That's crazy. That's the worst. Other things that are worse.
Bobby Bones
Have you ever. I mean, this is bad, but have you ever broken a finger or something and realize how much you use your finger?
Mike D
Absolutely. Well, I mean, my story is, like, high school football, like, rolls at manly stuff, but, yeah, I liked it. I liked it because I got to walk around with stuff on my hand. How'd you do that? I was making a blog back.
Amy
You know, I've never broken anything.
Mike D
I would never say that.
Bobby Bones
You know that.
Mike D
That's like saying, I've never gotten a ticket or I haven't gotten a ticket in years. Amy.
Bobby Bones
Knock on wood.
Mike D
Yeah.
Lunchbox
For how clumsy.
Amy
That's the thing. I just don't think my body. I think whatever it is, it's just not really breakable.
Mike D
Oh, boy.
Amy
Like, the bones, like, I don't know. I'm more like unbreakable. I don't know.
Bobby Bones
Is that a superhero?
Amy
Because I've. I've had some falls and stuff. Like, I should have probably broke something, and I've never had. So I just. I don't know. Maybe it's just the way I'm Made anybody else have.
Mike D
Oh, man. That's the worst.
Lunchbox
Spasms, like, back spat. Like, I mean, just little. Oh, my gosh. I Had neck spasms one time and I couldn't. I mean, I thought athletes were. Winced when they're like, oh, they're out with back spasms. Like, come on, guys. A little twitch in your back and if you get them, you can't move. I'd rather I was pulling my hair to make myself feel better.
Mike D
Oh, you're putting pain somewhere else.
Lunchbox
Yeah, it was that painful. I went to the doctor and they gave me pain pills and it didn't work. And I went to the ER and said, hey, they misdiagnosed me. Like, I got something wrong, like, I'm dying. And they're like, no, it's just neck spasms.
Bobby Bones
Oh, you ever had a blister in your nose? Inside your nostril?
Mike D
No.
Bobby Bones
Oh, dude, those are terrible.
Lunchbox
Pick your nose.
Mike D
No, no, no.
Bobby Bones
You can't even squeeze your nose because it hurts.
Mike D
Why do you think that happened? Oh, oh, I have another one, but go ahead. Yours reminds me of mine.
Bobby Bones
Don't know why that happens, but you get them right inside your nostrils, and then when you're like, oh, your nose itches. Oh, gosh, you touch it, it hurts so bad.
Mike D
I'm doing a spin off episode on yours when you get a small pimple, like, in your nose or like, right on the.
Bobby Bones
Oh, that's it.
Mike D
That's what I'm talking about.
Amy
Eddie has. He's calling it a blister.
Bobby Bones
I mean, I don't know. Is it a pimple blister?
Amy
Yeah, Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I mean, it's.
Mike D
Oh, they're two different things.
Bobby Bones
Okay, it's a pimple then. Oh, that's what I'm talking about.
Mike D
Then I shall say I felt that.
Bobby Bones
It's crazy, dude.
Mike D
That sucks. Or like, you can't. No, you can't really see it, but it's, like, hurt and all. Right. You just want to squeeze it, but nothing. That's. That's. That's the worst to him. You ever get, like, a fever blister?
Bobby Bones
Oh, outside.
Mike D
Outside, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Yes.
Mike D
I haven't had one since I was like, 15 or 16.
Lunchbox
Bobby, don't say that. You just told Amy.
Mike D
No, but I've had. But I had them when I was younger. Like fever blisters.
Bobby Bones
Is that.
Mike D
Is that herpes? Yeah, two different things. That's what.
Amy
Isn't it a kind of herpes, though?
Bobby Bones
That's herpes, dude.
Mike D
There.
Amy
Maybe, like, it doesn't mean.
Mike D
But I think a fever. It's a sun. I think you can get them differently from the sun.
Amy
Oh.
Mike D
Because that's what mine ended up was it was from like shun burning my lips. But I could be wrong. I. Dude, I thought a light bump was real till like 5 minutes ago. See if there's like a sun blister or like, is a cold sore the same thing? Because I haven't had one of those in a long time. Let's see. Sun blister, second degree burns or fluid filled bumps that appear on the skin after too much UV radiation from the sun. Not the same thing, but fun fact. Most of us have a herpes virus in us. It just not the kind that you think of like on a Ding Dong, but like in a different version that just lies dormant.
Bobby Bones
But sometimes it pops up.
Amy
Yeah, sometimes it does. That's what would be everywhere. All the kinds.
Mike D
Herpes simplex virus. HSV1 is the most common type of herpes. Affects about 70% of people under 50 worldwide. And some people never. It's like the mouth, but they never.
Amy
It never actually asymptomatic.
Mike D
Yeah, it never actually pops out. Okay. I didn't actually mind that segment.
Amy
Anybody wasn't planning to go there, but.
Bobby Bones
Overall it's not that bad.
Mike D
Amy's like, anybody have herpes?
Amy
That's what I was gonna say. Like, does anybody would admit to ever having that kind? But, but, but because just so people.
Mike D
What kind of question is that?
Amy
That's why I stopped. It started to come out and then.
Mike D
We didn't ask you to go again. And you went again.
Amy
But because they kind of said it. And then I was like, yeah, that's where I would say we had the other herpes.
Bobby Bones
We never had that.
Mike D
Exactly. They're taking care of themselves. It's very common.
Amy
That's what I mean. Like, you're not alone.
Mike D
Yeah, you're not alone. But I think what I found, like the most entertaining about that Amy was gonna go, that she goes, nah. And then none of us encouraged her to go. And then she just did it again. Anyway.
Amy
I felt like somebody encouraged me.
Bobby Bones
No, no.
Amy
Like somebody over there.
Mike D
A little voice. Okay, so here's what we're gonna do. I do have a bunch of calls. We're gonna get to all the calls, including someone who heard about lie bumps.
Amy
Oh, okay. So you're not.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, you're not alone.
Mike D
What if it's my grandma from heaven and she's calling? Wouldn't that be cool if you got one call? Like prison. Yes.
Amy
Got one call.
Mike D
You got one call like a month from somebody. Somebody in heaven once a month.
Bobby Bones
That'd be awesome.
Mike D
And it was only like five minutes. Oh, man, this is. I'm writing. There's a story here.
Amy
A book like that you're gonna pretend happened to you?
Mike D
No, that would be awesome. No, don't do that. And then I get. I come in bumps all on my tongue tomorrow. All right, hold on back a second.

Mike D
Let's talk to Athena in Virginia who's on the phone. Athena, thank you for calling. What's going on?
Amy
I just wanted to let you know that yes, the body bumping is a Southern thing. I grew up in Georgia and that was always a thing with my mom and grandmother.
Mike D
So I'm so glad you called because for those that did not hear the last segment, I was talking about the bumps you get on your tongue and I said, my grandma always told me there were lie bumps. My grandma raised me for a lot of my life and so I was convinced every time I got one I lied. Probably because I lied a lot. And I was. And the rest of the show, we got Texas, Texas, Texas, Kansas. They were like, we've never heard of that. So I thought at times I say things that are extremely hillbilly esque because Texas is not really the South. Would you guys admit that even though.
Bobby Bones
It'S the most Southern correct.
Mike D
I'm not saying.
Amy
Yeah, we're not like Southern belle.
Mike D
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's, it's geographically south, which is weird, but it is not the South I'm from the South. That's Arkansas. That's where I'm from. Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, you know, Virginia, all that area. And I thought, well, maybe they just. Annook's not from the south. Or maybe you just never lied. I thought about that too. Maybe you never lied. Thank you for calling Athena. I really appreciate that.
Amy
Of course.
Mike D
Have a good day. Yeah, you have a good day too. Okay, Tuesday reviews day. We'll go quick. If you don't have one, let me know. You gotta go. Full review. No soft reviews on Tuesday reviews day. I finished Penguin season one on Max. Don't think it's a superhero show. It is not. It's based off of the Penguin in Batman. There aren't. It's like a. I never watch. What's that gangster show? Sopranos. I never watch Sopranos. But it's probably like that with just like slightly more fiction. Yeah, it's a mafia show. It's. It's. It's awesome. It's four and a half out of five.
Amy
Okay.
Mike D
And can I say who the villain the girl is? That's not spoiling, right? No, that's in the synopsis. Can I mention how I met your mother without it being a spoiler? And that's been a while. Okay, so the mom and how I met your mother, who's like the softest, sweetest actress and she ends up being the mom. She's one of the villain. She's so good. And at first when she's on, you're like, she can't be the villain. I only know her for doing like super soft sweet roll. She's so. She's so good. Four and a half out of five hurt feet.
Bobby Bones
Well, that's good.
Mike D
So I'm giving the Penguin that we finished season one of From.
Amy
Okay.
Mike D
From is a show we watch on Amazon and From is a show where they're in this town. They don't. They can't get out of this town. And at night these little. These monsters come out of the woods and it's about that, but it's not about that. It's right. We finished season one. It's four and a half out of five rocks with symbols on it. Okay. Wow. At first it's a bit horror esque where I'm like, I don't like scary stuff. I'm not gonna do this. And then there's a bit of a shift and it's more than just that. They're layers. I love it. We finished season one and we were like, we gotta go to season two. So two four and a half's from on Amazon. Penguin on Max. Great.
Amy
Amy, Go Hot Frosty. Save your time.
Mike D
I don't know what it is, though.
Amy
It's a movie on Netflix. It's a Christmas one. And you know these are gonna be Che, so I expect them to be kind of bad, but also amazing at the same time.
Mike D
It's called Hot Frosty.
Amy
This one's just bad. Okay, so I don't know. I give it just. No holiday harmony just because it's Christmas time. Ish. I'll give it two out of five scarves.
Mike D
Okay, let's go around. If you have nothing, you can say nothing. Eddie.
Bobby Bones
I have the Return of the King, the Fallen, Rise of Elvis Presley. It's a documentary, brand new on Netflix. Awesome.
Mike D
It's so cool. Even though we've seen everything about Elvis.
Bobby Bones
You've seen everything about Elvis. But this is about the 1968 comeback special. You know where he's on the black leather. So apparently.
Mike D
Is that why.
Bobby Bones
No, no, no. This is. So the Colonel, who's his manager, ruined his career, signed him to a 27 movie deal and, like, killed his career. So he had stopped singing. This special is what brought Elvis back. Had no idea. I'm the biggest Elvis fan. I didn't know who the like this story. Conan O'Brien's on there. Billy Corgan for the Smashing Pumpkins. Bruce Springsteen narrating this stuff. It's so cool to see this stuff.
Mike D
Review, man.
Bobby Bones
I say five out of five. Diamonds.
Mike D
Okay. Morgan.
Amy
Yeah, I watched Borderlands. I watched it for free on, like, my Southwest flight.
Mike D
It was just on. Movie or TV show?
Amy
It's a new movie. It's with Cate Blanchett and it's about this otherworldly. She's a bounty hunter and she has to travel between planets.
Mike D
Oh, man. Say no more.
Amy
I know.
Mike D
And that's.
Amy
It was very Suicide Squad esque.
Mike D
Misfits, this whole thing. All the makings of a movie I would love. And it was good.
Amy
It was cheesy enough that I liked.
Mike D
It, but it wasn't something that I would watch again. Good movie playing. Good, good, good plane movie. Great plane movie. Yeah. Not something I don't know that I'd spend my Friday night watching, per se. And there's a movie lunchbox. Do yours. I'm gonna look up this movie I'm gonna watch. Oh, two.
Amy
Two out of five keys.
Mike D
Got it. Two out of five keys. Got it.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I got nothing. I just have a soft review and. There's no soft review.
Mike D
No soft Reviews on Tuesday. Reviews day. Okay. No podcast or anything? Lunchbox?
Lunchbox
No, man, it was a busy week.
Mike D
Movie Mike. Oh, I'm with you. I also finished The Penguin Season 1. I give it 4.5 out of 5. One of the best shows right now. Yeah, I don't want people to think it's all batmany. I hoped it was batmany and it ends up not being batmany. Like for me, I love Batman, so I get that from it too. But if you don't watch Batman or whatsoever, you can still love this show. I'm gonna try. Hey, Ray, if something. Do we have a bleep button?
Bobby Bones
Yep.
Mike D
Like if something happens, can you drop me? Okay, just be careful because I'm gonna go and try to find this movie and I'm gonna get on Tick Tock. And then if I mess up.
Bobby Bones
Oh yeah, Tick Tock's risky.
Mike D
It'd be bad. Okay, hold on. I'm watching this guy Brandon talks movies and I get fed this because I like all movie Mike stuff on Tick Tock. So then I get fed all the other movie stuff. Okay, hold on. I'm fast forwarding. Here we go. Predestination is what it's called on Netflix. Okay, here we go. I haven't seen it yet.
Bobby Bones
You can fast forward Tick Tock.
Mike D
You just hold your hand, thumb on it. It double times it.
Amy
Yeah, I didn't know that. That's.
Mike D
Oh yeah, this came out like, I don't know when Tick Tock invented bones.
Bobby Bones
That's huge.
Mike D
I'm glad I didn't know this. I know. I'm just kidding. Okay.
Amy
I'm just like, dang, I gotta watch the whole thing again.
Mike D
It's called Predestination with. Oh, you can also open it, drag your finger on the bottom and take it back to the.
Bobby Bones
Oh, I didn't know that either, guys.
Mike D
Why? I was just making a joke. But now, man, we watched the whole.
Bobby Bones
Thing and then we wait to watch again.
Mike D
Oh, no. Okay, hold on here. Time travel movies, you have to check out Predestination. This film follows a temporal agent who travels through time in order to stop criminals from committing their crimes in the future. But this time he has to hunt down his nemesis in order to stop them from committing a crime that will end millions of lives. Again, if you are a fan of mind bending time travel movies, this one is definitely one to watch. Amen. See, I haven't even seen that one, but I saw that. Mike, what's your TikTok, Mike Distro Follow Mike, because Mike does lots of Movie reviews and like stuff. So then I like those and I get fed all this bullcrap and then I'm like, oh, I like this stuff too. I'm going to go watch Predestination this weekend probably. Okay. I got to get in a couple more calls.
Bobby Bones
You okay?
Mike D
I'm about to vomit.
Bobby Bones
Okay. Not okay.
Mike D
I'm not really feeling great today either. I'll be honest with you. Let's go talk to Scott in Florida. Hey, Scott. What's up, buddy?
F
Hey, how's it going?
Mike D
Pretty good. Thank you for calling. Hold on one second. Scott, start over.
F
Yeah. All right. So I just wanted to tell you all a story. I live down here in Florida, close to Madeira beach, but not on the island side. When the hurricanes hit, we had Elaine and then we had Milton's. Well, my friend came from the UK and he was supposed to be here to put flowers on his mother's grave at Madeira beach, take him to a concert, celebrate his birthday. Instead, from 8:00 to 8:00, for two weeks, we were cleaning houses out on the beach. I ended up raising $10,000 thanks to Reese Windows, Fran Hosh and Gas Homes Real Estate here in Madeira and St. Pete and in that area. Well, anyway, we bought $7,000 in totes. We bought $3,000 and $100 gift cards and we gave them random people we didn't know. We started cleaning houses. My friends, they saw what we were doing and we cleaned about 20 houses out on the beach after that. Saltwater Hippie is on Madeira Beach. They have a music hall that is owned. The buildings owned by a man named Bill who owns Fabados and John's Pass and a few other places. And Saltwater Hippie, they donated the music hall and we turned it into the largest donation spot probably on the West Coast. It looks like a mini Walmart or. Well, yeah, pretty much mini Walmart. And then also now we're having people donate furniture, insurance. We've had trucks come from Houston, Indiana, Utah, all over, bringing supplies to the beach to help everybody out. And my friend, the reason my friend from the UK is a country singer, just plays in bars, but he has albums out. His name is Kellen James. K E L A I N James. He wrote a song called Riding out the Hurricane and it is a beautiful song. It's cost many people here to cry and so forth. But this has been going on since the first hurricane and we're still going at it. And the volunteers that have came out to work at the donation shop. I gotta give a Shout out to them. They are freaking phenomenal. The owners of Saltwater Hippie. Amazing. During this time, I. I even had my truck destroyed, but I kept going. I cut my finger off.
Mike D
You cut your finger off? Okay, look.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my.
Mike D
Here's what we got here. We got a guy. This is one of those. You just start a little snowball. Next thing you know, snowball gets bigger than. A lot of people are helping. And obviously, the area still needs a lot of help, but you guys are killing it. That's awesome, dude. What about the finger? Yeah, yeah. That's how he leaves us. He cut his finger.
Bobby Bones
He's doing great things.
Mike D
Hey, Scott, thank you for that story. And did you put a band aid on that finger? What happened?
F
No, actually, the skill saw. I was cutting the walls up four feet tall, and skill saw hit a hardened part of the wall, and I went to catch skill saw, and I split the finger in two.
Mike D
Oh, well, I'm done. I can't take any more of this car. I like Scott, and thank you for sharing that. I hope that inspires people that are listening to. You can just do your thing, and if other people hear, then they do their thing, and next thing you know, you got big things happening. That whole finger thing, I don't like. Yeah, that sucks for Scott. I'm sorry to hear that, buddy. Thank you for calling, and thank you for continuing to, like, give and work and help others and be selfless. It's really cool, Scott. So thank you. Hope you have a nice day.
F
Buddy, do me a favor. Check out that song Riding out the Hurricane.
Mike D
Check it out, check it out. And then I got a little confused during the call. If that was just all a promotional opportunity for his buddy.
Amy
No, I think it's genuine.
Mike D
Even though he went back to it.
Bobby Bones
I mean, everything was probably real that he talked about.
Mike D
I don't think there was a single lie told. No, no. I don't think he made the whole thing up to get his buddy on. But then I have to, like, be careful about letting people do that, because then everybody ends up calling with something to go. Oh, yeah, check out my friend Clint Wilson. Yeah. Got that new song. It's called Tuesday on Broadway. And I'm like, yeah, let's go to Beth in Pennsylvania real quick. Hey, Beth.
Amy
Hi.
Mike D
Welcome to the show. What's going on?
F
Hi, Bobby. I was calling.
Mike D
I know you kind of went off.
F
The subject, but live blisters, well, you call them live bumps. I live in Pennsylvania, in Williamsport, the home of the Little League World Series. We called them Live blisters growing up. And then when my kids were coming up, I called them live listers. And every time that they would get one, I would say, okay, what'd you lie about? And a lot of times they would tell on themselves.
Mike D
Yep.
F
Because I would get them by calling them live blisters. And then they would get in trouble for what they did. But then they caught on that it was just a bump in their mouth, a little blister or whatever. And then my grandchildren grow are coming up now. The oldest one's 16. The youngest one's three. But I call them that to them. I haven't caught them yet or.
Mike D
But yeah, if we. If we're honest, you didn't catch the other ones either. You tricked them. And I don't hate it. I don't hate it. I think it's. I think it's great. And I was never, like, told to confess my lies because I normally. Mine were just, like, stupid stuff because I didn't have to lie about anything. But I just remember being like, I must have lied. If I got a lie, I must have lied. Or maybe at school, I never lied to my grandma.
Amy
They were like, how are you? And you're like, I'm good. But really, you weren't.
Mike D
No, I was always good. As a kid, I didn't know the difference. Oh, yeah, I know the difference.
Amy
I didn't mean. I mean, as kids, we all. I'm not even talking about your circumstances. Like, just.
Bobby Bones
Don't we always say, like, you're good? Yeah, we're good.
Mike D
It is weird if you go to somebody you don't know and you're like, hey, how's it going, man? It's terrible.
Bobby Bones
Not good.
Mike D
I run like feet. Don't fail me now. I'm out of here. That's just a way to say hello. Hey, Beth. I really appreciate you calling. Hope you have a great day.
F
You, too. I love the show. I listen to it every morning and have for years.
Mike D
Thank you very much, and hopefully we'll talk to you soon. Okay. Okay. Thank you.

New data out about how much alcohol you can drink and still be healthy.
Bobby Bones
Come on, guys.
Mike D
Anxious to hear this?
Lunchbox
Yes.
Mike D
Of everyone because the guys on the show have gotten a little older. Of everyone that actual took interest, Morgan raised her head the fastest.
Bobby Bones
She drinks more than we do.
Mike D
She's still at the age and the stage where it's like sometimes she still goes moderate to pretty hard. Averaging no more than one drink a day is relatively low risk.
Lunchbox
Oh, okay.
Mike D
According to scientists who study alcohol, they warn the risk of cancer rises significantly when you exceed that. Studies have suggested that alcohol contributes about half of a dozen types of cancers, including breast, colorectal, heart, liver. The only way to completely avoid health related problems is to stop drinking. They say first of all, you want to avoid a lot of these elements that come into no drinking. However, they know that's actually not possible. Not something that most people are going to hear and do because a lot of things that we do and eat, they're like that sugar. I mean we could walk through all the stuff that is harming our body and possibly raising our chances of different kind of cancers. Okay, now that's all said. They are evaluating alcohol consumption guidelines. Men consume no more than two drinks a day. For women no more than one. So this is the recommendation. Newer guidelines continue to be a bit more conservative than that. They looked at the risk of dying from anything alcohol related, including they put in heart disease, accidents, life changes they deem the risks of. You need two drinks a week or less to be low.
Bobby Bones
Wow.
Amy
They went from one a day, two a week.
Mike D
Well, they started factoring in other causes. Three to six drinks as a moderate a week and then seven or more increasingly high.
Bobby Bones
Dang.
Mike D
Like you could go at any minute.
Bobby Bones
Yeah, I'm about three to six a week. A week?
Amy
Really?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, most of the weekend. Not really weekdays, but weekend with that. What Drink a wine mostly and then maybe a couple beers if I'm grilling.
Mike D
I have a friend. I'm not gonna say his name. It's Reid and Reed. Reid works with, he's does travels as a lot of my digital Pictures, video editing. He's like, my guy travels, works out with Eddie and I. And he was like, I just don't know why I'm not able to lose much weight. Because he comes in, he works hard. And Kevin Klug, our trainer, was like, man, yeah, you've been eating. And he's like, I never asked you, like, like, are you drinking? He goes, a couple beers a night.
Bobby Bones
That'll do it.
Amy
And he's like, that's it, that's it.
Mike D
He has a couple beers a night. He's like, beers, beer, that'll do it.
Amy
That'll do it.
Mike D
That'll do it.
Amy
Yeah.
Mike D
And not even talking about the cancer, all the things that say long term.
Amy
But it's like some of his goals. Yeah, fitness goals.
Mike D
He's like, I didn't even think about that. And sometimes it's not two, sometimes it's one, but sometimes you just get lost in time. It's four. Yeah, yeah. So. But he's also young. Raids younger and. But yeah, I know how to get you, I guess, huh? Watch out. A couple beers. Bobby Bone show Bonehead glory of the day.
Lunchbox
This story comes to us from Miami, Florida. A 20 year old man was in the kitchen cooking dinner with his brother. And his brother starts talking. He's like, hey, quit talking. You're getting germs on the food. Brother keeps talking. So what's the 20 year old do? Grabs a knife and stabs him right in the neck.
Bobby Bones
Oh, my goodness.
Mike D
I feel like maybe some sibling rivalry had already existed or sibling irritation or mental illness.
Amy
Yeah, there's something like that.
Bobby Bones
A little bit of both.
Mike D
A little deeper than he stabbed him just for germs.
Lunchbox
Yeah, he was talking over the food, which was getting germs on the food. And when police arrived, they found the 20 year old hiding in a tree.
Mike D
Oh, also not where I would go if I was feeling good. Like feeling all collected. I would not climb a tree. Yeah, that sucks. What about the guy that got stabbed? He good?
Lunchbox
Oh, he's good. He's gonna survive.
Mike D
He finished get finished dinner.
Lunchbox
The food did not get cooked. He had to go to the hospital.
Bobby Bones
Oh, no.
Mike D
Okay.
Lunchbox
Yeah, I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day.
Mike D
With some very exciting news on this show today that I want you to listen to on the podcast because Amy talked about how she might be a superstar after tonight. Well, I talked about it about you. Big night framing she. Hopefully she didn't make the cutting room floor and she's on ABC tonight. They're doing that special. The Vegas country music special. Hopefully she's on because they interviewed her. And if you said some cool stuff, they're gonna chop it up in there. Okay.
Amy
Yeah, tvd. It was there for a long time.
Mike D
I know you're gonna be in it.
Amy
Yeah. There was some teaser where they use 2 seconds so.
Mike D
Of your face.
Amy
Yeah. And my words.
Bobby Bones
Oh, that's good.
Amy
But it was an Instagram face, though. It was my face. Yeah, speaking.
Mike D
We're on.
Amy
So.
Mike D
So she's gonna be on tonight. Watch that. It's on abc, so that's one. So Amy's gonna be a massive national star after tonight.
Amy
Okay.
Mike D
I kind of feel like. You already are. But wait. Just wait till after tonight. We have another one. We have somebody that might be an international star happening soon. And this is big news. Does anybody want to admit to what we're talking about here?
Bobby Bones
Anyone international?
Mike D
Obviously, it's Eddie. Cause he got there first.
Amy
Okay, I.
Mike D
Go ahead. Go ahead.
Bobby Bones
Guys, I don't wanna jump the gun. I don't wanna jump the gun, but this could be huge.
Mike D
Go ahead.
Bobby Bones
My heart sales team, the national sales team has asked me to do a commercial spot in Spanish. I mean, guys, this could blow me up.
Mike D
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
Like right now, you know, this is great and everything, but this could cross.
Mike D
What do you mean this is great? The show.
Bobby Bones
This show and everything. And our listeners. We love our listeners. But this could take me to other countries.
Amy
Yeah.
Bobby Bones
I mean, next thing you know, I moved to Miami. I do a telenovela, and, dude, I'm all over Univision.
Lunchbox
That's not another country. Miami is America. Because I'm going to move to another.
Mike D
Country and then be Mexico.
Amy
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby Bones
Venezuela.
Mike D
Mexico City. Yeah, all that. Yeah.
Amy
Dominican Republic.
Mike D
Port Aransas.
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Amy
So, guys, I think that this is just, like, probably not good. I mean, Eddie, congratulations.
Mike D
Be a hater.
Amy
I'm not hating this.
Mike D
Hey, she's not going to be a hater. She just hates it.
Amy
No, no, no. I love this actually, Bobby. But I don't know if it's for right now that I share that. I've seen Eddie practicing his Spanish for it. It's funny.
Mike D
Can you give us the commercial tomorrow? Do you have it done?
Bobby Bones
Yeah, well, I have the script and then I'm gonna record it. But here's the deal. I don't really speak Spanish, so this is tough.
Mike D
You do a little bit. We've been places where you've had to speak Spanish. Totally.
Bobby Bones
I'm bilingual with my parents. Like, yeah. But that's about it. I don't know how to read in Spanish, so I'm gonna try my best.
Mike D
Yeah, see if you can do that today. I wanna hear it tomorrow.
Bobby Bones
Okay.
Mike D
But he could be an international star now because of this.
Amy
This is so cool.
Mike D
Florida?
Bobby Bones
Yeah.
Amy
Miami, Texas?
Mike D
California.
Bobby Bones
Yes. South Texas.
Mike D
Yeah. Well, I'm rooting for you.
Bobby Bones
Thanks, man.
Mike D
Anyway, Amy's gonna be on ABC tonight. We'll hear Eddie's deal. Thank you so much. We'll see you tomorrow. Bye, everybody. The Bobby Bone show theme song written, produced and sang by Reed Yarberry. **Summary of The Bobby Bones Show
Episode: Tues Part 2: Why Bobby Left The Show Yesterday
Release Date: November 19, 2024
Host: Bobby Bones
Producer: Premiere Networks
The episode opens with Bobby Bones addressing the listeners about his unexpected absence from the show the previous day. He shares his experiences and the reasons behind his temporary departure, setting the stage for an honest and engaging conversation with his co-hosts, Mike D, Amy, and Lunchbox.
Timestamp: [03:17]
Mike D kicks off the discussion with a humorous yet alarming story about a school evacuation triggered by a student bringing an explosive to show and tell. He narrates the incident where a "historic incendiary device" necessitated a calm evacuation, suggesting it was an old bomb or grenade.
Mike D: “Everybody at junior high school had to be evacuated after a kid brought in an explosive device to show and tell. It was not the normal fire drill for children because, well, it wasn't a drill and there wasn't a fake fire but a historic incendiary device which is something that would explode.” [03:57]
Bobby and Lunchbox add their thoughts, contemplating what the explosive might have been and emphasizing the seriousness of such situations, even if the intention was innocent.

The conversation shifts to a recent incident on a Southwest flight where a passenger's smartphone caught fire, forcing an emergency evacuation. Mike D humorously relates the story to his own reliance on phones, expressing disbelief that his device ever caught fire.
Mike D: “How does the phone catch on fire? Let me tell you this. I'm on my phone 24 hours a day. I don't know how. If any phone was going to catch on fire, it would be mine.” [05:13]
Amy and Lunchbox discuss potential causes, such as faulty chargers, and share personal anecdotes about overheating devices.

Mike D introduces new research on the optimal amount of time children should spend on homework each evening. The study suggests that spending more than 70 minutes on homework yields minimal academic benefits, while around one hour per night is ideal.
Mike D: “Spending more than 70 minutes on homework only produces very small gains. 90 to 100 minutes causes performance to decline about an hour.” [07:01]
The hosts debate the feasibility of these recommendations, especially for students with demanding school loads, and share personal experiences related to homework struggles.

Bobby opens up about leaving the studio sick due to a stomach bug, debunking initial concerns about sinus issues or COVID-19.

Amy empathizes, sharing her own experience with neck spasms, attributing it to minor accidents and age-related issues. The segment highlights the importance of self-care and managing unexpected health challenges.
