Lauren LaRosa (0:00)
This is an I heart podcast. I'm the homegirl that knows a little bit about everything and everybody. You know, she don't lie about that, right? Lauren came in hot. Hey, y'. All. What's up? It's Lauren LaRosa. And this is the latest with Lauren LaRosa, your daily dig on all things pop culture, entertainment, news, the exclusives, and y' all know we get into those conversations that shake the room, baby. Now, today, we're going to be talking about some things that. So exciting to me. I love talking about fashion. It is one of my favorite things. Like, I was going to say favoriteist. Y' all know I like to make up words. If you don't know, welcome. I love to make up words. I'm horrible at remembering how to pronounce people's names, and I'm a bad speller. But we are here, okay? It's gotten me to 33 years. We are good. If I'm checking in behind the scenes of the grind, I'm feeling great. Back on the grind. I am feeling great. I have no complaints. I am. Yeah, like, I'm. That's it. I'm just feeling good. It feels good to just be like, I have no complaints. I'm good. The family's good. Everything is good. So, low riders, let's get on into the latest, because, listen, we got some fashion things to discuss. Now, first of all, we talked a bit about Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, right? We talked about their amazing wedding that went down in Venice, and we talked about how, you know, because Jeff. Jeff Bezos gets a lot of pushback because people, you know, there's. There's, you know, people who feel like he should be paying more taxes. There's people who feel like. Who feel like he should be paying his employees at Amazon more. There's people that feel a ton of things when it comes to Jeff Bezos. But one of the things that people cannot tell you is that this man is not rich. This man is filthy rich. Loaded. If you. If you had to hear me say that to know that, I don't know where you have been, but I saw a headline and was reading a story the other day, and I'm like, man, this. He is so wealthy. Like, how do you get that wealthy? Like, how. So there's been reports, and I pay attention to Style Caster a lot. Style Caster is one of the fashion outlets that I watch for fashion news and updates and things of that nature. StyleCaster and a few other outlets, including Daily Mail and others, are reporting that Jeff Bezos is reportedly looking into buying Vogue and that he is looking into it as a wedding gift for Lauren Sanchez, his new wife. Let me tell you something, okay? Lauren Sanchez has a background as a journalist. When I first moved to la, I remember she was working for. I don't even remember what the local was. Oh, it was. She was the co host of Fox's Good Day la. And I didn't know her like, you know, like I didn't know a ton about her, but I just used to see her because I would be doing carpets and just different things in la. But she's an Emmy award winning journalist and former news anchor. She actually spent six years as that co host at Fox's Good Day la. And then she and people like to talk about the fact that she also has a pilot's license. According to reports, Daily Mail was actually told by a source that the rumor that Jeff is going to buy Conde Nast, which is the parent company that owns Vogue, is all anyone is talking about in the fashion industry and inside of Vogue. And the source told, added to that while telling Daily Mail that Lauren Sanchez is such an unlikely cover star. And the word is that she landed the July issue of Vogue which is where, you know, she did her, she did a whole wedding spread involved. When we were talking about her wedding on one of the previous episodes that I did here on the latest with Lauren the Rosa. Make sure you go and check out that episode where we talked briefly about Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding. I was actually, I, I used her Vogue feature to develop my report that I did. They did a whole spread on her from the fact that her dress was custom made by Dolce and Gabbana and you know, they went into the. Her love story and story of, you know, her background and there was like a full photo shoot. It was, it was. Listen, okay, and at the time when I'm, I'm reading through this Vogue cover, I didn't think much of it. I didn't think it was unnormal there. Look, the source is telling Daily Mail that she's such an unlikely Vogue cover star. But for me it made sense because Jeff Bezos's wedding was the biggest thing that happened that weekend, the weekend that they got married. I mean every celebrity, Oprah, all of the Kardashian Jenners, Tom Brady or Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, everybody was at the sum of the Trump family, everybody was at this wedding. So to feature the bride of the wedding and it's Jeff Bezos like within his Last, I would say, I feel like this started happening, that this shift started happening in the pandemic where people have begun to make the billionaires the new celebrity. Like the Jeff Bezos, the Mark Zuckerbergs. People are interested in their lives and what they're doing and who they're marrying and, you know, all those things. Jeff Bezos, I would say a lot more than like a Mark Zuckerberg and others, but yes. So I didn't think much of it when I was reading this article to prepare for our report here for the Latest with Lauren LaRosa. But basically this source is saying the reason why that happened. Not only was this wedding the hot wedding to talk about, but she may be about to own and be leading Condes, which Vogue is under Condas now. I also talked to you guys here on the podcast about Anna Wintour, you know who, who Editor in chief of Vogue for decades. It's been decades that Anna Wintour has been synonymous with the Vogue brand. Has decided to step down and do some other things at Condes. But you know, StyleCaster is reporting that Anna Wintour is actually said to be directly involved with the possible sale. The source says Anna is said to be the one broke the deal, so that's why Lauren was put on the COVID Anna has equity in the business, so she has a lot to gain from the sale. Now, listen, this might sound strange, but even Jeff Bezos, he is no stranger to the publishing businesses either. In 2013, he bought the Washington Post. And that was a big deal because for a long time there was a. There was this huge family, the Graham family. I think it was like four or five generations in. It was four generations of ownership at the time that Jeff Bezos got in and purchased the Washington Post. So it was such a big deal and people just care about when billionaires do things like that. Look, I don't know. I think it's kind of crazy to receive Vogue and Conde Nas, you know, then the brands under Conde Nas, which are, I mean, are huge media and publishing brands as a wedding present. But baby, when I tell y', all, Lauren Sanchez, if this is true, if this report is true, and again, I wouldn't be, it wouldn't be strange for a Jeff Bezos to purchase a Conde Nasty because it, it's. There's always been something synonymous with billionaires and then wanting to because they understand the power of media and how that controls so much from stocks to culture to business to everything. Right? Listen, I don't not believe it, but I haven't Confirmed it. Lawrence and Chance, I'm telling you right now, sister girl, for all of your fellow journalist girls out here, we need a book, okay? We need the book on how to navigate the sources and. And how to navigate, you know, to the wedding rings. Because when I tell y', all, she. She has her pilot's license and baby girl landed this plane. She did that. And I'm not just talking about the fact that he is rich. I'm just talking about everything, like her wildest dream. I mean, I guess this has to do with him being rich, but any of her wildest dreams have now been able to become true because she met a man, fell in love with a man. And I'm not saying that she's just with him for the money, because that has been a conversation around. I think that conversation isn't loud, and it doesn't last long because if you look at them together, you can tell that they're happy from the outside looking in as much as we can anyway. But Jeff Bezos and her, every time they're together, they seem like they're having a good time. It seems like the people that are with them enjoy them. I remember there was conversations about, like, Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian hanging out with them and doing dinner with them. And, like, they seem like a good time. I'm not going to lie to you guys. It seemed like a great time. And it seems like they have a lot of fun whenever they're on their vacations, even though their vacations get scrutinized because of the amount of money they spend, you know, in this 500. 500 million dollar wedding. Seems like Jeff Bezos is in good hands and that she's actually there for the man and not the money. But the money ain't hurting, as we see now. In other fashion news, there are current reports that Jane Birkin's original Hermes bag is going to sell for $10 million. Now, y' all are probably like, why do I care about this Birkin bag selling for this amount of money? And why is it selling for this amount of money? There are Birkin bags everywhere, even though they do appreciate in value. But this Birkin bag is actually the first ever Birkin to have been created by Hermes. The bag was designed for the British actor and singer Jane Birkin, and it was used by her almost every day from 1985 to 1994, before it became the ultimate symbol of luxury. So this was before, like, when she was wearing the bag. This was before the bag was like, oh, my God, the Birkin bag. So this week, the bag was so sold by auction house Sotheby in an online sale of of notable luxury fashion, including designs by Alexander McQueen and Christian Dior. The auction house actually declined to provide an estimate of the original Birkin bag to CNN ahead of the sale. So CNN is doing this report, and basically what happens is, normally when an auction house, like, you know, there's a ton of these big auction houses that do, like, big celeb memorabilia, right? And when these auction houses receive these pieces, normally what they'll do is, is they'll seed information out to media. We're about to be selling this, you know, the original Birkin bag. Jane Birkin wore it every single day from this time to this time. And we're going to auction it for a. A starting auction price of this. They might not give you the exact number that they wanted to hit or where to exactly start, but they get you close to, like, a range because they want people to begin to talk about it. So connoisseurs, fashion collectors, archivists of these things can go out and wait for it to hit the auction and then run and come to buy it. But CNN is reporting they didn't even want to drop that. It was going to estimate to sell at ahead of the sale. But there was an advanced bidding that went crazy that was breaking records. And this advanced bidding happened during a live stream of the sale. Now, during the live stream of the sale, from reports, you could literally hear people gasping as the bidding went higher and higher and higher. And it only lasted for 10 minutes. It was between nine collectors and ultimately ended in a victory for a private collector from Japan. Whoo. Man, there is so much money out here to be had, so much good fashion out here to be had, so much good marriages out here to be had. Y' all just pray for me, okay? Pray for your girl. Because I need a mixture of all of the things. I need a mixture of great fashion. You know, I am working really hard every day to acquire my wealth so that my family is good. And I pray that on my husband as well. My husband to be once we get there. Y' all know what I mean? I'll break that story here once that happens, but I don't know. There's just a lot out here to be done and a lot out of here to be accomplished. When I see stories like this where we're talking about Elon's gonna say Elon Musk. Wrong billionaire. When we talk about a Jeff Bezos being able to even be in conversation or Just thought to buy a Conde Nast or, you know, someone buying the original birkin bag for $10 million. 8.6 million pound. 10 million. I'm like, wow, I got a long way to go, but I'm going. I'm on my way. So we'll keep up to date with, you know, if that sale of Conde Nas is a thing, because if it is, first of all, it'll be everywhere. If that happens, the story will be everywhere. But if it does happen, I would be very interested to see what Lauren Sanchez does with the brand. Because like I told you guys, she's worked at some outlets. I even believe she was at one of the, like, entertainment outlets, too, in la. I believe it was like a ET Or Extra. Let me verify that one second. Yes. Lauren Sanchez was that extra as well, too. Yep. So it'll be interesting because she does have the background in. In she has is there. And right now, she is a part of what we are considering, pop culture. We're here talking about her. So we'll keep you guys posted and I will see you in my next episode. I love it when we do these fashion episodes because that is such a passion of mine, if y' all can't hear it in my voice. And you guys love the episode we did about Anna Wintour, and I was surprised. Like, I had people hitting me up about that episode, and I'm like, oh, I didn't even. You know, a lot of times people aren't as invested in things as you think they are, but I think when you talk about legacy names like Anna Wintour or a Vogue or, you know, even Birkin bags, Birkin bags have become such a big thing of the culture. People don't realize. And that's why I love pop culture so much, that fashion, music, all of these things, right? They intertwine so much. It's, like, synonymous. Like, the Birkin bag is such a big thing because everyone's rapping about it right now. Everyone's talking about it. All of the, you know, the music girlies are wearing the Birkin bags and the fashion girlies, right? Vogue is such a big deal because, of course, Vogue talks about and features everybody, but it's been around forever. It's a staple brand, so everything's intertwined. And that's. That's my favorite part of pop culture and getting to do and explore and being enthusiastic of this category because you never know where the news may take us. I appreciate you guys so much. Hello, riders. At the end of the day, there's always so much to talk about, and you guys could be anywhere with me to talk about it. Even $10 million in a Birkin bag. You know, there's so many. There's so. Look, there's only. But so many millions are right here with me when we are talking about them. And y' all could be anywhere. So I appreciate you guys. I will see you in my next episode. This is an iHeart podcast.
