Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of the show. I'm Candy Valentino and thanks for tuning in to today's five minutes of Motivation, the show where we are going to cut through the noise and give you the quick, actionable insights that elevate your mind, your success, and your bank account. So today we're talking about something that will separate the winners from the spectators. It's an important topic that I think, regardless if you are leading a business, negotiating a deal, or just wanting to show up as your best self in your relationships, confidence is not just a nice to have thing, it is a requirement. So I want to talk about how to develop unshakable confidence. It is a question that I get asked often. Candy, how do you have so much confidence? Well, it is not something that comes naturally. It is something that I've had to work at and anyone can do it. So we're going to break it down. Confidence really starts before you ever take action, because it starts with how you talk to yourself, your internal dialogue. If it's full of doubt and questioning. If you're capable enough and telling yourself that you're not good enough and you're not ready, you've already lost the battle. Which is why the very first step to developing it is to rewire your self talk. It's flipping the script. It's understanding that doubt is going to creep in. You are going to question yourself, your worth, your ability, how capable you are. What if this is going to work out? Oh my gosh, what if I fail? But it's really flipping the script intentionally. It is to ask yourself, what if this works out better than I ever imagined? Our brain is wired to answer questions. So if we ask better questions, we're going to get better answers. And so we need to start feeding our mind with better questions, rewiring that self talk. And rather than thinking about all the things that could go wrong, think about how this could work out even better than you imagine. Which brings us to number two. Mastering your body language. Your physiology will control your psychology. Oftentimes, we think that our mind is controlling our body. But our body often controls our mind by standing and having good posture, by making good eye contact, by having open body language. This all triggers confidence at a biological level. It increases testosterone. It reduces cortisol. So we need to leverage our body language to also help rewire that Self talk. So try this before you go into a big meeting or have a big decision, I want you to adjust your posture, put your shoulders back, take a long, slow, deep breath, and just own the space that you're in. Your mind will follow your body's lead. Which brings us to number three. You gotta stack the wins. Look, confidence is not built overnight. It is literally built through momentum, through focusing on doing hard things and actually moving through them, through having a problem, not waiting for the confidence to sink in before you take action, but creating confidence through action, knowing that that problem was there. You got through it. It didn't destroy you, it didn't cripple you, and you are stronger because of it. All of those small goals that you achieve really stack, and it trains your brain to believe in your ability to succeed. It's why I talk. My first book, the proof paper. There are so many things that every single person listening to this has accomplished in their life. There are circumstances that you thought were going to trip you up, that were going to destroy you, that you weren't going to get through that, oh my gosh, I'm going to fail. And you still got through them. You still succeeded, you're still here. And oftentimes we're so focused on the next thing that we forget to acknowledge all the things that we overcame. That gives us the stats in our favor that we're probably to get through this next thing. And even if it's painful, even if it doesn't go the whole way that we think it's going to go, we're going to be okay. On the other side, stacking those small wins, taking out a proof paper, writing down everything that you've been through, everything that you've faced, all of the small wins that you've had throughout your life, so that when you doubt this next thing that you're going to do, you look back at what you've accomplished and you remember who you are. And that brings us to number four, stop seeking external validation, guys. So many people tie their confidence to other people's opinions, and that is dangerous. The moment you need someone else's approval, you have handed them your power. Instead, define success on your own terms. What does it mean to you? You have to believe in your own ability more than you care about the opinions of other people. That is what's going to set you up to succeed in anything. And here's a question you can ask yourself today. What would I do if I wasn't worried about what anyone else thought? And then go do that? That is how confidence is built. You will doubt yourself, you will doubt your ability, you will doubt your worth. Confidence is acting despite the doubt. When you rewire your thoughts, when you command your body language, when you stack wins and remember who you are and stop waiting for the approval of others, you become unstopp and that confidence becomes unshakable. So what's one action you can take today right now that will make you feel more confident? Think about it. Then go do it and watch what happens.
