Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of the show. I'm Candy Valentino, and thanks for tuning in to today's five minutes of Motivation, where we're going to cut through the noise and give you the insightful strategies to think, act, and win. Today's topic is something I think is critically important, as it is a skill that will separate the elite performers from everyone else. Because here is the truth. If you want to achieve big things, if you want to do big things, if you want to have big dreams, you are going to need to handle pressure. And pressure isn't the enemy. It's a privilege. Pressure means that this moment matters. And the people who master pressure, they don't just survive it, they thrive in it. So if you've ever been feeling overwhelmed or frozen by fear or that you crack under pressure, today I want to give you the exact strategies to remain calm, to stay focused, and be in control when the stakes are high. Let's get into it. All right, here's the first thing. Pressure is not bad. It's not good. It's actually a neutral. It magnifies your own thoughts. It's like money. Money is a neutral. It's not negative, it's not positive. It will amplify whoever you are. Pressure is like that with your thoughts. So if you go into a situation thinking, what if I mess this up? What if I'm embarrassed myself? What if I'm not good enough or capable? Your brain will magnify that in high pressure situations. Why not? Because there's anything wrong with you. It's just that's how our brains are wired to find proof that you are right in whatever you think. And when we break down this psyche, the thought process of those people who thrive in pressure, who enjoy it, who get jazzed up being in it. I'm one of those crazy people. I always say I perform better when the pressure, the stakes are high. It's what juices me up and excites me. The Shift the different thought process between people who typically crumble under pressure to those who thrive in it. It's what they focus on. Most times when people are going into a situation and they are crumbling under pressure, it's because they are thinking about the failure. Where those who thrive in pressure focus on the execution. Instead of them saying, well, what if I fail? What if I embarrass myself? What if I'm not good enough? They're saying, what if this goes better than I've even imagined? What if instead of saying, I'm not ready, you say, I rise to the occasion. Your body follows your mind, so when your thoughts are strong, your actions will be too. And when you shift the way that you view pressure and you think of it as being a privilege, as the price you have to pay to accomplish more, to lead more people, to have a bigger business, to make more money, all of those things come with greater responsibility. And with greater responsibility comes greater pressure. So when you start to view it a different way, your brain will do what it does best, which is help you find proof that you're right. And that brings us to step two, slow down the game. Do you ever notice how the best athletes, the champions, the business leaders that have grown massive companies, all look calm under pressure? It's not because they don't have pressure or that they don't feel stress. It's because they have the ability to slow down the game. How do you do this? The very first thing is to focus your thoughts. Remember, our body, our physiology will control our mind. So when we want to control our thoughts, we have to control our body. We can do this by controlling our breathing. Slowing down your inhale. Holding. Slowing down your exhale. Holding, repeating. This process will slow down your heart rate, calm your nervous system, and it really clears your mind so that you can perform instead of panic in the pressure. And the third thing is to remember that preparation is the key, not emotion. Pressure triggers your emotions, right? Doubt, fear, anxiety. And here's the mistake that most people make. They trust their feelings in the moment instead of their preparation. The most successful people know this, that you don't rise to the occasion. You fall to the level of your preparation. Your feelings in the moment are not facts. So you have to trust and rely on the preparation. Because when there is pressure, you have to stop overthinking. You have to remind yourself, I've done this before. I know what to do. I'm going to get through this. And you need to detach yourself from the outcome, focusing on the execution, not the result, and that is critically hard. But if you want to perform well under pressure consistently, you always want to focus on executing through it, not the result that you're going to get at the end of it. Because when you prepare relentlessly for something, pressure becomes just another part of the game. Because pressure isn't the enemy. It's your edge. It's fuel. So the next time you feel pressure, I want to challenge you to reframe it. Rather than thinking, oh, this is stress, I want you to think that this is just a chance for you to prove yourself. The pressure isn't going to break you, it's going to sharpen you. And this is the moment that you've been training for. The difference between average people in anything, in sports, in business, in money, in life, and the elite all comes down to how they handle pressure. And most people do let it break them, which is heartbreaking. But you, I know you are going to use it to level up. So today's challenge, I want you to find one high pressure situation in your life. And I'm sure you're probably like candy finding one. Come on. I have a bunch. So pick one. Pick the biggest one. And instead of avoiding it, I want you to step into it. Use these tools I just outlined. Breathe. Trust your preparation and execute detaching yourself from the result. Because the, the more you face pressure, the stronger you get.
