Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
Kelly
Because people are mad at the influencers for, like, getting it or taking it or, like, getting paid for it. And then Tom Brady is in every super bowl at. No one's mad at him.
Liz
No one's mad at him.
Kelly
I guess we are.
Liz
And Liz, I've realized that just because I am 30 years old doesn't mean I. It's too late for me and a mom doesn't mean that it's too late for me to learn a totally new skill. Your mom time off starts now.
Kelly
Welcome back to the Carpal podcast with Kelly and Liz. Liz, I relistened to our episode that came out on Thursday. We're hysterical.
Liz
It was a good one. We were just like. I don't know, we were feeling it. We had good banter. I. From our podcast on last Tuesday when Caroline Detman clipped it and did A Day in the Life. I now have a new dream that I want my audio to go viral and be a viral sound. That's like. That's a dream I never knew I had until I saw it. And now that's a goal of mine.
Kelly
Well, let's give a little context. So Caroline Detman. Is that her?
Liz
It's like that. That.
Kelly
That's her handle. She's a bit. She's a big carpooler and she. I. We. I was talking to her and she's like, do you care if I clip that audio? And I'm like, obviously not like you. Like, I'm.
Liz
Someone has to.
Kelly
Honored.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And to hear my voice as a trending. It's not even trending, but no, it's.
Liz
Someone used it. Yeah.
Kelly
Of being trending. Like. No. Vision board.
Liz
Vision board. It's done. It's been done by Caroline from. By Caroline. And someone else has now copied it. So I think I'm gonna do a day of the life with it. I need it to go viral.
Kelly
I think everyone should make a day in the life.
Liz
Yeah, let's all see.
Kelly
I'll see what you guys are all up to.
Liz
Yeah, I know. And the whole point is that you have to like it, because if someone uses audio, you have to like it.
Kelly
I commit to liking every day in the life that uses that audio. I'm committing. I'm committing.
Liz
I'm committing. I mean, as long as you're public and we can find it.
Kelly
This is my. I'll even comment. This is my public plea.
Liz
Yeah, that's like, it's a new dream. New dream. I mean, thank you, Caroline, for seeing the vision and for clipping it from a business standpoint. It probably would have been better if it came from, like, the carpool, Instagram. And you know what, Caroline? Someone's got to do it.
Kelly
So someone had to choose their shot, and it certainly wasn't us today. So.
Liz
Gosh, no, we never. Never us. But.
Kelly
So anyway, one thing, though. I brought up last week's. Last week's episode because I've been reflecting on Skechers in such, like, a big way.
Liz
Okay.
Kelly
And I'm ready for Skechers to have, like, the New Balance Crocs resurgence.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Like, I'm ready for their moment in the sun, and I honestly think it's coming. I mean, they had a Super Bowl.
Liz
What are sketcher shoes looking? Like?
Kelly
I want people. I'm saying, like, I want people. I think Skechers has the. I think they've got the market share on the comfort on the kids, but, like, I want the gens. I want it to be the new Birkenstock. Like, I want the Gen Z to get a hold of it and just propel it to the moon. And that's my other plea.
Liz
Okay.
Kelly
I just believe in them.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Like, Sabrina Carpenter needs to wear sketchers. Like, I do. I get why they have Martha, but I also feel like if they got a Gen Z to do it, it would be huge. It could be huge for them.
Liz
I agree. I agree. It feels. It feels like it should be done by them by now. Just because of the ugly shoe trends that they've had and the ironic shoe trends that have been in the Gen Z. Gen Z trends. Some kind of surprise. Skechers has yet to make a comeback.
Kelly
I'm searching the site, and it's nothing that a. That a Hoka or that a Brooks isn't or that a new mountain. It's not. There's no reason why it can't be Skechers.
Liz
Totally, totally I wouldn't consider it.
Kelly
So I'm just saying, like, very much how we always, you know, every couple of months there's like a new trending food. I'm ready for it to be a trending sketcher. Speaking of what is like the trending food right now, do you think we're kind of due for one?
Liz
We are due for. We're due for one. Oh, I. I still think kind of like protein shakes are a thing, you know, like the dirty. The dirty Alani.
Kelly
Oh, no, that's totally a thing.
Liz
It's where you take like an Alani new energy drink and mix it with like a vanilla protein drink.
Kelly
I don't do. I don't do those. I do only do the Clean Simple Eats because I. The Clean Simple Eats energies because I like that. It's only 100, 200 milligrams will give me a heart attack. I don't know how people are drinking one of those.
Liz
I know the. She's talking about the Clean Simple Eats energy and focus drinks. I. I agree. I'm like a very big energy drink person. Like Maddie and I both are. And it's like, actually really bad for us. So we stopped drinking them until we found the Clean Simple Eats ones. Um, and it's like kind of the.
Kelly
Not an ad, but just like clean.
Liz
Some Bleaks actually does have an ad for this episode, so.
Kelly
Oh, well, good for.
Liz
Checks out. Um, but yeah, I like. I like that one the best. But anyway, I think it's like protein maybe protein shakes, energy drinks. That's what. That's what's coming across my desk, I would say. Okay, I haven't even told you about this, but I've realized that just because I am 30 years old doesn't mean I. It's too late for me in a mom. Doesn't mean that it's too late for me to learn a totally new skill. And here is what I'm going to do. No, this is good for you.
Kelly
I think I could guess.
Liz
Okay, what do you think it is? It is business related. Oh, and it's not becoming a cpst. Although I am doing that.
Kelly
Oh, bada bing, bada boom. So this is. Consider me invested. I think we're gonna say something like knitting or something.
Liz
No. Okay.
Kelly
I don't know. Tell me.
Liz
Okay. I am going to take a photography class.
Kelly
I. Continuing education.
Liz
Continuing education.
Kelly
We always speak about continuing education. I think that is an excellent idea.
Liz
Thank you. I don't know anything about. For being a videographer. Use that term so loosely. For knowing how to point and shoot an iPhone and then one editing software. I really know nothing about cameras or post production outside of iPhone and final cut pro. So I thought it would be a good idea for me to take a class. And I'm just gonna take it online so I can do it at my own pace. And they're gonna tell me all about what camera I should get and how to use it and lighting and post production and angles. And I just think it would be really good for the business.
Kelly
Elizabeth, I'm so inspired by you right now.
Liz
Thank you.
Kelly
I want to take a class.
Liz
Right. Like you can just do that, you know, you for forget. So I found this photography class.
Kelly
Kelly never. Yeah. When school was never fun for you. Because school was never fun for me. You forget that some people that. Yeah. So tell me. So tell me about the class.
Liz
Okay. So it's $10 a month and I get all of these courses and videos and like that's not, that's not expensive.
Kelly
It's not expensive. Wow.
Liz
You know, for the other things, I'm spending $10 a month and learning nothing. Getting dumber in some ways. Just a reminder that like, you ability. You can just like take a class on anything you're interested in. And it could be knitting, if that is. Oh, you know, I'm.
Kelly
I'm a big crocheter. Like I taught myself how to crochet on YouTube. Like, I wasn't judging. I just wasn't. I wasn't expecting that. I was, I wasn't expecting any of it. And I'm happy. I'm currently brainstorming what I should do. Yeah, I mean, I'm like pretty much like skilled. You know what I would honestly love to do? Like, I would. You know what I'm gonna say I would like love to do. It's not for the business. What class would I love to take?
Liz
Baking.
Kelly
A cooking class.
Liz
A cooking class? Well, I think, yeah.
Kelly
Especially like, I mean, who's following like ballerina farms and her like fairy tale in Ireland right now. Like in her. Oh. So she moves her whole family to Ireland. They moved for 12 weeks. I think it's like a 12 week class. And her and her husband are like doing this class together every day. And they're like, it's not like cooking. It's like they're jarring. Marmalade.
Liz
Cool.
Kelly
Totally jarring.
Liz
That would be another one that I would like to learn how to do a canning class. It's very. It feels very intimidating for me. And I think it's intimidating because if you get it wrong, like, you know, dire, dire consequences.
Kelly
I agree. Personally, I'd love to take a canning slash cooking class. Professionally, I would like to take a. What could I get better at? Pretty good at what I do. I think I could take like a. I guess like a management class.
Liz
You know, like a, like a finance. Finance class.
Kelly
No, I feel like that's something I'm comfortable outsourcing for the rest of my life.
Liz
That's true. No, that's true. I just always think back to when we had Trader Joe's five. I don't know, on our podcast. Anna, I believe is her name. I just follow her from her account and we asked her how she takes such beautiful photos of the food that she makes. And she has a cookbook and everything. And she was like, I took a food photography class.
Kelly
Inspiring.
Liz
And it's stuck with me ever since then. So I'm doing it.
Kelly
Okay, well, I cannot wait to hear about this journey. So between this and becoming a cpst, like you're really trying to become indispensable. Yeah, I think you are.
Liz
We'll see how good I am. We'll see how good I am.
Kelly
Well, speaking of careers in the influencing space, are we going to talk about like the Poppy controversy at all? Yeah, I would love, and I would love to get your take on. And I don't even know the latest and greatest about it. I guess I should have done that before. But tell everyone what it is while I'm looking.
Liz
Here's what I understand of, of what it is. So Poppy, the soda brand. They sent these, these poppy vending machines to influencers homes. They're like $25,000 each and they just like sent them to influencers and they're getting a lot of backlash because it's like, why did you send this to people who already have a lot of money or it just like it. I think people just didn't really understand why they sent it to influencers versus like doing a pop up or putting them random places or whatever. Like I just don't think that it totally makes made sense because Poppy before was like such a community brand and for them to just go full blown into the straight to very, very popular influencers. I think people were just confused. Like it was a weird stunt.
Kelly
Well, I think it was a weird stunt also because vending machines aren't for one person. Like, what are you gonna do with it? Like, that's so weird to me.
Liz
It's so weird. It's so weird. It didn't make sense. I think it would have Been so cool if they, like, put them literally any. If I saw up at an airport, at a mall, on the street, Like, I don't know. If I saw a Poppy vending machine, I'd be like, oh, that's sick. Very cool. Good. Good PR move. And because they sent it influencers, I think people were just really confused.
Kelly
Well, and I mean, Poppy's come out and said, like, hey, Poppy owns them. Like, the influencers aren't keeping them. So, like, that's fine. Like, okay, whatever. But it did just. It felt a little Miss Markey and Poppy, I think there's two. Two ways to Two things I want to talk about this one. Poppy's a great brand. Like, and Poppy let's. They have done a great job. Because I was listening to the Skinny Confidential, and they had the founders of Chomps on, and Chomps was like, a really good brand is when people want to wear your logo and they compare it to Red Bull. Like, athletes love having Red Bull on their outfits. Like, Red Bull's just done a good job. And Chomps was like, I think we're kind of on the way where, like. Like, if I got sent chops merch, I would wear chops merch 100. I have gotten sent Poppy merch before, and I do think I re gifted it to Grayson because I just, like, have a lot of sweatshirts, but Grayson wears it. And now Poppy merch is in Target.
Liz
I saw it at Target. Yeah.
Kelly
So, like, people are into the. Like, they are doing a good job. What's crazy is, like, Ollipop came out throwing shade and, like, commented, like, saying that These machines cost $25,000, which, if the influencers don't get to keep them, feels completely irrelevant.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Like, I would expect a vending machine to cost $25,000, but it's not like they spent $25,000 on these influencers. So that's interesting. I agree. This was, like, just not just the campaign itself doesn't make sense because the influencers were not receiving a $25,000 gift because Poppy would never do that. Like, that's crazy. You know what? Spend that much on an influencer just in gifted product. But then I do this. This theory of, like, should influencers get gifted things? And, like, what. What aspect of it is too much? I do find very interesting.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And, you know, I hate to say I think it's like a case by case thing, but I think people have certain tolerances for different influencers and for different brands. But it's not. It is fair. The influencers are getting views like they are doing their job. Yeah.
Liz
I guess the more we're talking about it, the less like kind of upset I am about it. I was never upset but like I guess I'm like maybe not understanding the controversy as much. I just think that they could have done it in a better way and I think it's blowing up in their face. But I just think, I think people love to hate on an influencer.
Kelly
Well, they love a common any. Everyone loves a common enemy.
Liz
Yeah. Yeah. And it's tough because it's like, well, the influencer is going to get. Is a guaranteed way to get hundreds of thousands of views on what you want them to view. So that's, it's, it's. Yeah, I don't know. It's tricky. I, I am surprised that Poppy of all of all brands did go that route and kind of missed the mark on this because I again I think if they would have done a random pop up somewhere, a Poppy pop up, it would have been really cool and people.
Kelly
I think it would have been. But also I wouldn't have received the views. I mean just the views in general. I don't know.
Liz
I don't know.
Kelly
Not that I think I don't. I'm not like, like rage baiting for views. I don't think that's fair. But I don't know. It's very interesting. I do feel like I also, I like if I'm working with a brand, like I'm fine to get like product but like I'm. And I'm honestly not on a lot of PR lists but there are some PR packages that are like, like I won't even post about it because I'm like, this is excessive. And like this is like this is ridiculous. And I donate. I mean, you know me, I love a dinner auction. Like my dinner auction baskets stacked, stacked. Because I just, I don't, I'm not going to keep everything. But there's a lot that like I won't post because I didn't ask for it. It's way too much. I don't like it.
Liz
I do think it sometimes when you receive so much stuff that like if it's not enough, you're also not going to post about it. So I think that they maybe they were like, if we want influencers to post about it and we don't want to pay them the money to post about it, we have to send them something so insane that they can't not post about it. I don't know.
Kelly
I think if I'm a brand. I would send really, really, really good merch and hope that they wear it.
Liz
Yeah, I will.
Kelly
Like, I mean, the Amazon influencer thing that they send is so cool and like, I felt so uncomfy posting about it because it was like so extravagant. Like, I know.
Liz
That's true.
Kelly
That's true. Like, if I could opt out, I would. Like, I don't. I really. I'm not that. I'm not that person. Like, I don't like that. I don't know. It's just like a weird. It's just like a weird. It's difficult to navigate. But like, I think if I had a brand and I would send the. I would. I think influencer marketing is really successful and I think it's a great way to reach a very niche audience with trustworthy people who can create good content for you.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
But I think I would just like send a kick butt sweatshirt because, like, people, I remember that Poppy merch and like I have an Anastasia a Beverly Hills sweatshirt. And it's like, I mean, it's. It's not a screen printed one. Like, it is the comfiest sweatshirt I own.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And like, I wear it sometimes in stories.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
I have a Culver shirt that I love. I love the stupid Culver shirt they sent me. It's the comfiest shirt in the world.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Wearing it on my stories.
Liz
Yeah. So I. I don't know how I feel about it either. I guess I don't really have an opinion.
Kelly
I'm still going to drink Poppy. Not that I'm not that mad. I'm not that mad about it.
Liz
Oh, no, Definitely not. It's like, I think people are just mad that.
Kelly
Whatever. And where's the hate for Tom Brady? Because people are mad at the influencers for, like getting it or taking it or like getting paid for it. And then Tom Brady is in every super bowl ad. No one's mad at him.
Liz
No one's mad at him.
Kelly
I guess we are.
Liz
And I'm not mad at him. I'm actually not mad at anyone.
Kelly
No, I'm not mad at him.
Liz
I'm.
Kelly
I'm full of love.
Liz
I'm full of love. Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. You guys know Kelly and I are very big fans of Clean Simple Eats over here on the podcast. We've been working with Clean Simple Eats for a while now, and I am so happy we found them because their protein powder and their canned drinks have changed my life. I have a Clean Simple Eats product at least one time daily. Their protein powder is always grass fed with no seed oils or artificial ingredients. Third party tested non GMO and gluten free and each serving has 20 grams of protein. Their canned drinks are also great. They have their clear protein in the can or their energy and focus drinks. They also have a protein powder for kids which I have been mixing. Seen some of it in James's milk which has been a good way for me to get that extra protein for him because he does not eat and any any chicken or meat or anything, he just eats carbs. So Clean Simple Eats has helped me on that front. So we do have a code for you. You can visit cleansimpleats.com and use code CARPOOL10 at checkout for 10 off your order. Anyway, let's move on.
Kelly
Yeah. Today's episode's kind of like a meat and potatoes. Just like kind of give it to you and then get out of your life because we have some sick kids at home.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
So we are going to utilize the snap gap effect and we're going to. I think that's all I had to say about things. And I'm ready to get into industry news. But do not. It is juice, juice, juice. On the industry news front today.
Liz
Juice, juice, juice. Let's hear it. Yeah.
Kelly
Now it's time for industry news where I smell the hot tea going on in the auto industry. In our first story, the 2026 Hyundai Palisade will add a 334 horsepower turbocharged hybrid option.
Liz
Whoa.
Kelly
Now the only thing is that's in Korea.
Liz
Oh. But, but it.
Kelly
Car and driver says we expect to see the US Version soon.
Liz
I retract my woe.
Kelly
Yeah. But just a couple of things. One, it's like it's a total. It's an all new redesign. And honestly I think they, I think the girl boss too close to the sun. I don't like how it looks so far. I think I've loved every edit of the Palisade so far. It all felt really tasteful and nice. This one feels like. Let's go back. Like, I think the 2025s Hyundai Palisade are some of the best looking cars out there right now. And I think the 26 looks over designed. Can you look at it?
Liz
I'm looking at it. It is kind of taking that more like QB approach that I think that the Santa Fe has. So I'm not really surprised to see that we're here because I think the Santa Fe kind of brought us to this point.
Kelly
No, but Hyundai needs to chill. I need to think of like some sort of like reel or something. I kind of want to roast them. They just kind of deserve to be roasted for this because every year the palate has come out. It has looked different. And now when I see a 2020 palace on the road, I'm so sorry if you drive them. But like it looks so dated and I think they need to stop doing that to their customers. Like, I'm riled.
Liz
Yes. Because I, I'll be honest. I think this design looks pretty cool. The interior looks super Sick. And I think that I actually like the exterior. It. But similarly to the Santa Fe was like, that doesn't look like a Santa Fe. That doesn't look like a Hyundai. This doesn't look like a Palisade.
Kelly
I just, like, need them to just chill for a second.
Liz
This interior is quite stunning, though.
Kelly
No, I know it's not. I mean, Hyundai to Hyundai does a good job, which is why I've liked every palace that they've come out with. But it's also like, if you guys were two years away from, like, I don't know. I guess I can't really explain it. I'm just. I have fatigue with them because then we have some brands. Volvo is a great example. Volvo doesn't change a freaking thing in all of. And I think that's good for the you. For their used car market. I just don't really understand unless Hyundai's, like, still just so trying to, like, grow their new car audience. Like, they're coming out with new things to, like, make headlines and build, build, build. I don't know. Or maybe they're trying to hold people just, like, lease cars so they get a new one every three years because there's always something new to it. Because I think you could also make the argument, like, Toyota doesn't really change a lot either. Like, why would you lease a Toyota? Like, buy a Toyota? That means it looks the exact same 15 years later.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
I don't know. Hopefully we get a hybrid. Hopefully we get more info. Hopefully we are able to go to that event because that is an event we'd like to go to. And what's very interesting is in the 26, there looks like there's two sets of lower anchors in the third row. So that's innovation that excites. And I'm just saying, I'm just wondering if I'm ever going to get the credit because I don't want to say that I influence that, but it is like. Like I do think, like, I'm the one who called it out for Hunted to do that.
Liz
I. I can't believe they're still trying to claim that they have three seats in that third row, though.
Kelly
I know. It looks even worse than the 26.
Liz
It really does.
Kelly
Go look up pictures. Okay, next story. Let's. Let's go back to the super bowl for a second. This is from car dealership guy News from dealer revolt to redemption inside the Stellantis comeback play. Now, I found this fascinating. Who saw Rams super bowl commercial? It had. Who did it have in It. Who was the actor? What's his name? He's. He's so cute. Everyone loves him right now. Glen Powell.
Liz
Oh, Glenn Powell.
Kelly
Yeah, it had Glenn Powell, I think.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
And it was like a play on gold locks and the three bears. It was like these three different levels of the Ram. Like, which one's right for you? Okay. It was cute. Like I, I actually enjoyed the trope. It says, according to car Gurus, in the eight minutes before the commercial aired versus the eight minutes after, Ram saw a 375% increase in views on VI vehicle pages for both new and used models.
Liz
Wow.
Kelly
Wow.
Liz
That's. That is an roi.
Kelly
It's giving roi. Okay, that's big. This is big. So here's another one. It says Stellantis is reversing its price hikes, trying to win back buyers. Since 2018's Stellantis, aka Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has lost 630000 sales or just over 3.5% of the market by discontinuing models like the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Jeep Cherokee and the Jeep Renegade. However, the new models introduced like the Dodge Hornet and the Jeep Wagoneer only added 76,000 in sales. So like they lost 630,000 by taking out those models. And the, the Dodge Hornet and the Jeep Wagoneer only added 76,000 in sales, which is like not good.
Liz
Yeah. Okay. So I think that for them, I think Glen Powell was like the perfect get.
Kelly
Totally.
Liz
Because he's like total. He's like hot boy right now. Like everyone likes him. And I think he's like approachable for men too. He was just in Twisters.
Kelly
I know. I think it was a good. I think it was a good get.
Liz
That was a good get. Drives a Ram 1500. We're Ram people.
Kelly
Yeah. We're not. Tyler used to. Now we're Ford people.
Liz
Yeah.
Kelly
Natalia's a Ford guy. But you know, here nor there. I don't know, here nor. They're not really my expertise. I do think people are taking trucks off roading though, more than other. Other activities.
Liz
No joke.
Kelly
More than sixty thousand dollar Nissan Armadas can. Can confirm. Tyler takes his in the cow field quite often.
Liz
Yeah. Is that, is that what off roading means?
Kelly
I don't know.
Liz
We'll never get an answer.
Kelly
Verdict's still out. I think also people are like, I live on gravel. It's like, that's not. I don't think that's what they're intending it for.
Liz
No.
Kelly
Because when we go to these off roading courses, it's crazy. Okay, let's move on.
Liz
We ever just googled where to go off roading?
Kelly
No. And I. I prefer to live in.
Liz
La La Land Creekside off road Ranch in Splendora, Texas.
Kelly
Yeah, but are you bringing your car? Are you driving their cars?
Liz
Moab.
Kelly
Moab Ice. Moab has a Bronco course you can go to, but, like, you drive their Broncos and then it just feels like an amusement park. I don't know.
Liz
Best off roading trails in Missouri. I don't know.
Kelly
We should. We should take, you know, we should do. We should take the next press car there. The next off roading press car we should go. And if I tear it up, I'm gonna be like, I don't know. I was just like, doing what the press kit said.
Liz
Maybe we should take a course on off roading.
Kelly
Because never forget when I literally.
Liz
Missouri off road safety course.
Kelly
We should take a class on off roading.
Liz
They're fully. They're. They're online courses. What? An online driving. Okay.
Kelly
What? An online driving course.
Liz
Okay. No, no, I just think we should consider that. Okay.
Kelly
Liz, are you ready for ditch the drive thru when I share an easy dinner recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner up?
Liz
Sure am.
Kelly
Well, I'm happy to report I haven't grocery shopped yet.
Liz
Okay, what do we have. What do we have left in the.
Kelly
Well, we did the pork chili. And you know what? The thing is, here's. Here's my critique. The problem with pork is it doesn't have a lot of flavor, but it has a lot higher calories than, like, chicken. So it's the pork, the ground pork, at least in. In the way that I made it. So it almost feels like I don't really get it. But I'm going to continue to use it because I have it. I would make again, it was very mild. So I think the kids actually really liked it. And then I judged it up. I added, you know, I added some jalapenos and some hollow. You know, I didn't say jalapenos, just everyone knows. I just prefer to say gelapinos. I'm making pork stir fry tonight.
Liz
Okay.
Kelly
But my dish, the drive through, is more of a formula that I've created that anyone can do. And it's the pasta protein veggie combination I've talked about in my stories. But I make this all the time. It's any noodle. You have butter and garlic salt. That's your base. You could add parmesan cheese. If you don't live with George. Stumpy. But if not, we're just a garlic salt butter noodle family. And then you find your frozen veg, and then you find your protein and you combine them. So you could do a ham pea combination. You could do a chicken carrot combination. You could do. It doesn't matter. It's whatever. So today we're doing a. I have peas and carrot combo. It's fine. We're gonna use them. Buttered frozen frozen peas and carrots, Buttered neuters, buttered butters noodles, Polish sausage. That's supper. I might add a little heavy cream and Cajun seasoning and try to take, like, a Cajun route.
Liz
Nice.
Kelly
And that's it.
Liz
Okay, perfect. I like that combo. I love a formula.
Kelly
Yeah, I love a formula. Plug, plug and play. Do. Do what you can with what you got, but I have it. I am. We're doing okay. I mean, Tyler was, like, so munchy last night, and I didn't have any, like, sweets. Like, we have no sweets in the house where he just, like, ate my granola raw because he, like, was, like, having, like, a sweet tooth. But now I'm down one bag of granola, so that felt good.
Liz
Okay. All right.
Kelly
We're out of berries, but we're doing smoothies like I suggested.
Liz
Perfect. Okay. So you're doing good.
Kelly
No, we're doing good. I'm. It's. I'm feeling really good about it.
Liz
Well, I have a. I have. Speaking of sweets, I have a hack. I talked about in my stories that I got those miracle milk cookies to try and help my. My breast milk supply. And they came in, and first of all, they are delicious. They're. They're like the best soft cookie you've ever had. Here's the hack. You get them to boost your supply, and then you tell your husband and your kids, oh, well, you know, these are mommy special cookies because, you know, she needs them to boost her supply. And you spent $70 on them, and they're expensive, and so that way you always have a sweet treat and no one else in your house is allowed to eat that. Oh, heck, hack, they're delicious. People are asking if they're helping with my supply. Hard to say so far. I'm also drinking body armor, so I'm not really sure who's helping where, but they. I can't confirm. They are, like, the best cookies ever had.
Kelly
We are going to have such different journeys coming up, and I just want to say that I'm really proud of you.
Liz
Thanks.
Kelly
Because I'm going to, like, start the weaning process, like the cutting down process, and you're gonna keep ramping up.
Liz
My daughter's life literally depends on it, so.
Kelly
No, I know.
Liz
You know, you do what you gotta do.
Kelly
No, of course you do what you gotta do.
Liz
Yeah. Not that. Not what I saw for myself, but you know what people do all the time, and I am always so amazed by women who breastfeed for a year.
Kelly
So, yeah, people choose to do it all the time.
Liz
People choose you all the time. So here I am, joining in and. Yeah, joining your club. But, Kal, that I think is gonna be our episode, because I have to go relief my in laws from watching James.
Kelly
Yeah, I mean, we're doing what we can to get the people in episode.
Liz

In this lively episode of The Carpool Podcast with Kelly and Liz, hosts Kelly Stumpe and Lizz St. John delve into a variety of topics ranging from personal growth and influencer marketing to the latest trends in the auto industry. The sisters maintain their signature blend of humor and sisterly banter, making the conversation both engaging and relatable for listeners.
The episode kicks off with Kelly and Liz reminiscing about their recent podcast episodes and the excitement of seeing their content clipped by others. Liz shares her newfound aspiration to make their audio go viral:
Liz [01:25]: "I now have a new dream that I want my audio to go viral and be a viral sound. That's like a dream I never knew I had until I saw it."
Kelly encourages this ambition, emphasizing the power of shared content:
Kelly [02:14]: "I'm committing to liking every day in the life that uses that audio. I'm committing."
The sisters brainstorm ways to increase their podcast's visibility, highlighting the importance of community engagement and consistent content creation.
Shifting gears, Kelly expresses her enthusiasm for Skechers, hoping the brand will experience a resurgence similar to New Balance or Crocs:
Kelly [03:26]: "I think Skechers has the market share on the comfort on the kids, but I want it to be the new Birkenstock. Like, I want the Gen Z to get a hold of it and just propel it to the moon."
Liz agrees, noting the brand's potential despite past challenges:
Liz [04:15]: "It feels like it should be done by them by now. Just because of the ugly shoe trends that they've had and the ironic shoe trends that have been in the Gen Z. Skechers has yet to make a comeback."
The conversation transitions to energy drinks, with both hosts advocating for healthier alternatives. They introduce Clean Simple Eats, a favorite brand, discussing its benefits and sharing a promotional code:
Liz [05:14]: "Their protein powder is always grass-fed with no seed oils or artificial ingredients. Third-party tested, non-GMO, and gluten-free."
Kelly highlights the practical applications of these products in their daily lives, especially for their children’s nutrition.
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to Liz's decision to enhance her skills by taking an online photography class:
Liz [06:57]: "I just thought it would be a good idea for me to take a class. And they're gonna tell me all about what camera I should get and how to use it and lighting and post-production and angles."
Kelly is inspired by Liz's initiative and contemplates her own educational pursuits:
Kelly [07:39]: "I think everyone should make a day in the life."
This segment underscores the hosts' commitment to personal and professional development, encouraging listeners to pursue their own interests and skills.
Kelly and Liz delve into the recent controversy surrounding the soda brand Poppy, which sent expensive vending machines to influencers, sparking backlash:
Liz [10:58]: "Poppy sent these poppy vending machines to influencers' homes. They're like $25,000 each, and they're getting a lot of backlash because it's like, why did you send this to people who already have a lot of money?"
Kelly critiques the marketing strategy, questioning the practicality of gifting such high-value items to influencers:
Kelly [13:15]: "It's a weird stunt because vending machines aren't for one person. Like, what are you gonna do with it?"
The discussion highlights the fine line brands must navigate in influencer partnerships, balancing visibility with authenticity and practicality.
Moving into industry news, Kelly and Liz discuss several hot topics:
Kelly expresses mixed feelings about the upcoming redesign of the Hyundai Palisade, criticizing its aesthetics while acknowledging the introduction of a powerful turbocharged hybrid engine:
Kelly [21:35]: "I think the 2025s Hyundai Palisade are some of the best-looking cars out there right now. And I think the 26 looks overdesigned."
Liz offers a counterpoint, appreciating the interior design despite reservations about the exterior:
Liz [23:16]: "This interior is quite stunning, though."
The hosts analyze Stellantis' recent marketing moves, particularly their Super Bowl commercial featuring actor Glen Powell:
Kelly [25:14]: "According to Car Gurus, in the eight minutes before the commercial aired versus the eight minutes after, Ram saw a 375% increase in views on VI vehicle pages for both new and used models."
Liz points out the effectiveness of leveraging popular figures to boost brand visibility:
Liz [27:08]: "He was just in Twisters. That was a good get. Drives a Ram 1500. We're Ram people."
They also discuss Stellantis' sales challenges and the impact of discontinuing certain models, emphasizing the complexities of maintaining market share in a competitive industry.
In a lighter segment, Kelly shares a simple recipe formula that encourages listeners to create versatile meals with pantry staples:
Kelly [30:08]: "It's the pasta, protein, veggie combination I've talked about in my stories. But I make this all the time. It's any noodle, butter and garlic salt as your base, add parmesan cheese if you like, then your frozen veggies and protein."
Liz appreciates the practicality of the recipe, highlighting its adaptability for busy families.
Towards the end of the episode, Kelly and Liz offer personal updates, discussing their children's antics and their own journeys with breastfeeding and weaning. This heartfelt conversation reinforces the authenticity and relatability that listeners cherish about the podcast.
