First things first why are we talking about summer sales? Well, I understand because I have been a seller for over a decade that teachers go on summer break and that means that your sales normally from other teachers go down drastically. The good news is, is that there is a big come up for fresh air in August and September.
B
But if you want to travel, go.
A
On vacations, go to a baseball game, go do some fun things with your kids, you probably need a little bit more income this summer to be able to do that. They are looking to invest in themselves and their classrooms for next year. The only problem is, is that you.
B
Have to perfectly set it up the.
A
Right way and this is your opportunity to offer irresistible deals that they just can't pass up. So let's get started on our 10 creative summer sale ideas. Here we go, 10 killer ideas to.
B
Inject cash into your teacher business this summer.
A
Number one, Summer stock up sale. Teachers love a good stockpile. I know so many teachers that coupon and get things for cheap for their classroom. So think about that in a way that you could use it for your teacher business. You could bundle your best selling resources at a discounted price or you could create a mega bundle that that teachers just couldn't resist. You know, you can use UTM codes on teacherspayteachers to track where people are coming from and you can throw your very own sales. You could call it something like Christmas in July or Christmas in June. Number two on 10 creative summer sale ideas for your teacher business are Flash Friday fun every Friday. I actually used to do this whenever I was just selling on TPT before I left the classroom. I used to do a flash sale every single Friday during the summer summer. And I would put different things off of bigger percentages and I would email out my email list and say next week, here's what's on sale. And so people would anticipate what was going to be on sale. And it was some of my bigger best sellers that I normally would never put on sale even for the TPT sale. So what you could do is offer one popular resource for 50% off for 24 hours because urgency sells. So you could actually not sell it on TPT just to upload it to your blog and offer it for 50% off just on a Friday. You could send out a calendar of events so that people know what is on sale and when and kind of do a countdown to back to school. Like, hey, we're having a Flash Friday fun every Friday sale. And here's your countdown for back to school. Make sure you get all of these things before school starts back because here's exactly how much they'll cost when school starts back. Number three on our tenant summer sale ideas for a huge cash injection for your teacher business is similar to what I shared in number one, Christmas in July. Specifically how to do this is you're going to bring holiday cheer early by offering a sneak peek or exclusive discount on any holiday themed products because teachers love to plan ahead. So anything that you know that would sell really well for the holiday season. My seasonal products usually do the best and so I would put them on sale and call it Christmas in July and put everything 50% off. And you could even throw some of your best sellers in there if you wanted to. But it's a really fun promotional time because, you know, Santa Claus looks a little bit different. Oh, and here's a little pro tip. Australia celebrates Christmas this same time that the United States celebrates Christmas. However, we're in totally different climates during that time or totally different seasons. So it's actually summertime. I mean, you probably know this and you're rolling your eyes, but it's summertime during Christmas in Australia. And so there Santa wears swim trunks and has on a Santa hat. And so if you look up clip art for Christmas Santa summer, you can actually find a whole lot of really cute Christmas in July clipart that you could use for your promotional ideas. Okay, you probably already knew that, but anyways, moving on. Number four, bootcamp or mini course launch. So we love something short, actionable, affordable, something like a bootcamp or a mini course focused on something similar to classroom prep or professional growth. We're thinking quick, actionable wins and those are what is golden. So if you have new teachers, you want to put them in a boot camp to learn classroom management before school starts back. Or let's say that you're a kindergarten teacher and you want to teach kindergarten teachers teachers how to set up their classroom. You could have a bootcamp to do that and you could actually charge a pretty significant amount. I'm thinking like $197. Now again, you're going to give them a lot of value, but it's something that you could do with them in the summer months to add some extra cash to your business. Number five, a VIP resource pass. Now you could create a limited time pass giving exclusive access to your best resources at one flat rate. So essentially if you're going to put this on tpt, you're going to want to create a bundle that doesn't already exist. And you're going to call it the VIP Resource Pass. And it'll feel luxurious, it'll feel valuable. Think about like first class plane tickets with your VIP Resource Pass. Now notice I did not say create a Google Drive folder and dump all your resources in there. I think you should be strategic. So for me, if I was going to do this, my historical figures sell really well. And so I would never bundle my two best sellers in the same bundle. I would put those in separate bundles so that people would want both bundles. So try to be strategic about how you do your VIP Resource Pass and come up with a way that you could put some more cash in your bank. Okay, number six on 10 summer ideas for a huge cash injection in your teacher business is a summer challenge sale run. So this is like a fun challenge, like a classroom setup or a lesson planning sprint. Think about what was the name of that show? Supermarket Suite. Okay, think about the idea of whenever. I mean this is telling my age, but I used to love Supermarket Sweep and they give everybody a time. They had to run through the grocery store and collect a bunch of things and then bring them back and check them out maybe to make a recipe or something like that. So think about a way that you could do a fun summer challenge that could be something like, okay, we're going to set up our classroom and you're going to have a countdown of days and you're going to do things from like borders and fonts and clip art, things that teachers can decorate their classrooms with. I think about schoolgirl style. If you don't already follow her. She was one of the first teachers that I ever followed her blog many, many years ago. Then her TPT store took off and now she actually is in Target. Like she sells her Borders, her classroom decor in Target. So look to her for some amazing inspiration of how you could do a fun classroom setup summer challenge because she's the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. But you could offer discounts and prizes along the way to boost engagement. So kind of like Supermarket Sweep, if you make it to the end and you're the first one finish finished, then you could win a gift card or you could win access to all of your resources for the year. Make it fun. People love to gamify everything in life, so the more fun you can make it, the more likely you are to make a significant amount of money. Number seven is a resource remix, refresh and relaunch if you want to. Lots of Rs in there. Your existing products with a fresh summer look and theme. I did this often with my sight word game bundles. I recreated them in a summer fresh way and made the activities to be outdoors rather than inside for parents to do them. And they actually sold really, really well. It wasn't a lot of effort. I just took the current games, took them outside, I taped them to swing sets and put them in a butterfly cage or something like that, wherever you like, create butterflies. And so that actually really helped me sell in the summertime because I was selling a little bit more to parents and people or teachers were buying them and playing them with their kids. So think bright colors, summery vibes and upgrade content. Remember, we're working smarter, not harder. Number A is a digital staycation bundle. So you could put together themed digital bundles like Back to school essentials or or behavior management basics to support teachers wherever they relax this summer. Now remember, this is going to be like a digital product. So it would not be something that they would need to print out. It would be something that they could edit themselves digitally. All right friends, we are wrapping them up. Number nine is the summer subscription sampler. You could offer a short term subscription or a trial to your membership if you already have one or some recurring product if you didn't know. We are in the thick of it for our very first membership builder experience. We're having the most fun ever with our students who are building out their very own memberships. And so this would be an idea of something for them to do next summer. You could hook teachers now for long term growth. For example, you could give a $1 trial which won't bring in a lot of revenue in June, but in July it would. And last but not least is a limited edition merch offer. So a lot of our students sell stickers and shirts and hats and all that kind of stuff. So you could do branded merchandise that teachers could rock, that you could create them based off of like summertime needs. So all kinds of keychains and fun little things that accessories people could put on their beach bags or on their Stanley cups. Think about how you could sell them in the summer, especially your stickers and things like that. So now let's talk about strategy. We Talked about the 10 ways that you could put cash into your business. I want to briefly talk about a sales strategy because just doing the things is not enough. You got to promote smartly. So here is a quick fire summer Marketing strategy. Get ready, buckle up. This is going to be fast. Build urgency and scarcity. So make these deals short term and exclusive. Leverage email and social media. Remind, remind, remind. I've been very, very serious with my students lately and just want to be your little bird in your ear that tells you if you don't have an email list, you don't have a business. And so if you haven't heard that in a while, I hope that this is your kick in the butt to get it started. I want you to get visible. Use live videos, reels and stories to hype up your deals and of course, collaborate. You want to partner with fellow teacherpreneurs to expand your reach. All right, so your summer mindset might need a little pick me up and you might be thinking, kasey, everyone's checked out for summer. Will this even work? Well, yes, it absolutely will because teachers still need solutions and teachers love to plan ahead. Can I get an amen? So embrace your confidence. Believe your products provide immense value because they actually do. So I want to give you some action steps so that you will launch your summer sales strategy asap. And here is your game plan. Pick two to three sale ideas that I mentioned and get started on them right away. Set clear dates and then build some anticipation. Create irresistible bundles or offers. Plan out your promotional content calendar and show up confidently and consistently. Your summer cash injection starts now. Here's your biggest takeaway for today. Summer. It isn't just for rest. It's for strategic action and powerful growth. So give yourself permission to get creative, try new things and watch your business soar, even on the off months. And hey, if you love today's episode, I'd love for you to share it with a teacher friend who's maybe drinking that margarita by the pool so that I can help them too and we can look at boosting our income together. Always remember, your best is yet to come. This is your one stop shop to dive deeper into into building a sustainable, thriving teacher business. Until next time, keep those summer sales hot, your margaritas cold. And always remember, your teacher business doesn't slow down, it just heats up in the summer. I'll see you next week.
