That's K A Y S E M O r r I s.com quiz well, welcome back to the CEO Teacher podcast where teachers turn their passion into profit and create classrooms and businesses built on purpose. No longer on Burnout, today's episode is for all of my teachers who have ever asked. I got a list now what exactly do I send them? We're talking about email marketing trends that you cannot afford to ignore in 2025, especially if you want your teacher business to stay personal, profitable and powerful. But first, let me open up with this quote that I just keep coming back to. In a world full of noise, relevance is the new currency. It's not about how many emails you send. It's about how right that email feels when your audience opens it. And the truth, Most teachers, they aren't leveraging email at all. Or if they are, they they're sending blanket messages that barely scratch the surface of what their audience needs. So today I want to share a story where three major trends are really coming in. I want real steps that you can take to help you nurture, convert, and then give you connection driven email strategies without feeling like a spammy salesperson. But before I get started, I kind of wanted to share a little story with you. One that I'll. I'll never forget. I was sitting in my Yukon. I had been at this teacherpreneur thing since leaving the classroom, and I was struggling because my email open rates weren't good. I didn't feel like they were really hitting home. I was just kind of writing what everyone said to write, which felt really salesy and it just felt gross. And then I just felt like I had this entire huge email list that was falling apart. I no longer was in the classroom, so that wasn't enough. My TPT sales were doing okay, but I felt like I was just irrelevant from stepping out of the classroom and trying to just be a teacher. Still, even though I was an entrepreneur trying to sell to teachers, it just didn't feel good. I was. I was scared. And I was thinking, oh, how's this going to work? But I remember thinking to myself, I just want to write something that feels like me. Something honest, something like I've never done before. No sales, no pitch, no polished graphics. Just me, my life. And when I did, that email changed everything. I realized then that email isn't just a tool, it's your lifeline to people. And that email discussed the real and raw version of what my life looks like in that very moment. I shared photos of my kids, I shared dates and wins, and I shared losses. And I didn't ask for a reply. I just had a conversation with about 70,000 people. And I thought of it like Dear Abby, which is a newspaper column from way back in the day. It was more of a monologue. And I almost didn't send it because I wasn't sure how it would resonate. I didn't know if my people would not really want to open my emails anymore. But what it did was that email showed my list what was going on in my life that may or may not have been completely relevant to why they first joined my list in the first place. But what happened was we all became human together again. So let's jump into those 2025 trends, remembering that human connection is always going to carry you further than anything else. So gone are the days where you don't personalize your emails. So I hate to break it you, but if you're still saying, hey, teacher friend. Guys, that's not, that's not It. That's. That's not enough. Your email subscribers are craving emails that feel like you wrote it just for them. So instead of saying, hey teacher friend, here's this month's resource pack. You could say, hey, Lindsay, I put together something I think that you would love for your 4th grade writers, especially with how chaotic February gets before testing season. This one's short, sweet, and printable in just two clicks. Or something like, since you grabbed my lesson plan reflection templates last week, I thought you'd love this 10 minute video walkthrough that I use to plan my Mondays without wanting to cry in my coffee. Teachers also are making sure that you understand their classroom challenges. So instead of saying this resource helps with engagement, they don't connect to that anymore. That's so vague and so out of left field. Try something like if your students start turning into little gremlins after lunch and you're tired of repeating yourself 43 times, just transition to math. This quick classroom management hack is for you. I used it last year with my second graders and I finally got my prep time back. Or middle school behavior got you on edge this week. I get it. This month's resource helps redirect that 2pm chaos into something actually productive without losing your voice or your sanity. Teachers want to make sure that you understand their daily chaos and understand that they still have goals. So instead of saying something like here's a quick checklist to improve your classroom management, you could say something like you're grading during your kids soccer practice. You're googling easy bulletin board ideas at 11pm you're showing up every day exhausted and still giving it your all. So this is not just a checklist, it's a 15 minute sanity saver. So you can leave Friday with all of your copies actually made for Monday. Or you didn't get into teaching to become a content creating robot. You got into teaching to make a difference. And that's why this month's resource is all about simplifying your prep time so you can go home before dark and maybe even cook dinner to eat at the table. These types of lines, they build trust, they stop the scroll and they make your subscribers feel like, wow, she really gets me. And she gets it. So here's some quick wins when it comes to personalization in email. Use first names in the subject line and the body copy. Mention grade level, niche or opt in path and send personalized product recommendations or lesson ideas based on their behavior. Learning how to segment your list is vital to be able to do this. So for Example, what this would look like would be like, hey Jamie, I saw you downloaded our middle school ela bell ringer. Have you tried our classroom discussion starters yet? It's a way to have a lot of email funnels on autopilot that are selling for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So tools that help us, of course. I think that the best email marketing platform just in itself for teachers is Kit or ConvertKit. And it's so easy to segment your list and to tag people so that you know where they're coming from and all that. Flodesk is actually the easiest email performance tool that you could possibly get in the beginning. It's better than mailchimp and it has a very easy design. But for us, we absolutely always use Kajabi. We recently moved our entire email list back over to Kajabi. It's where we host all of our programs, all of our memberships, where we do our coaching calls. And you can join Kajabi for free for 30 days by going to Casey morris.com kajabi that's K A Y S E M O r r I s.com k a j A B I and kind of see what all the fuss is about. We've been using Kajabi for about eight years and it is my favorite all in one platform. Now it is on the pricier side and it's more for teachers that are looking to build online programs like courses or memberships. But the fact that it has email marketing and segmentation already inside of the product, I think it's worth the 30 day free trial to check it out. If you have any questions, you can DM me on Instagram. I'd love to help. All right, so next up on high impact email marketing trends that teachers must leverage is remembering that segmentation is the shortcut to trust, which is kind of what I was hinting at previously as I was talking. Every subscriber should not get every single email. Let me say that again, every subscriber should not get every email. Segmenting your audience means you only send emails that matter to that person's stage in life, their need in life, and where they are in their teaching career. So some segmentation ideas for teachers include grade levels like K through 2, 3 through 5, middle high school. It could be niche areas like sped science, classroom management. Or you could segment based on where are they in your funnel? Are they a new person, are they warm? Or have they been a paying client before? So some real life application could be you're doing a workshop on classroom transitions for Littles. Don't send that to your ninth grade algebra folks. You want to send that to your K through 2 list and include a lead magnet specific for that age group. When your emails feel relevant, people open them. When they don't open them, then you know that they are irrelevant. And remember when they open them and they click them, that's when they buy. All right, our next step on high impact email marketing trends that teachers must leverage are behavior triggered emails. This means you your 247 assistant. This is the most underused strategy probably in the business world in general, but especially for teachers because it's the most powerful. These are called behavior triggered emails and these are emails that send automatically based on what your subscriber does or doesn't do. So here's an example. Someone signs up, they get a welcome sequence, meaning they get like five emails directly after they give you their email address that are going to help nurture them. If they don't click those emails, they then get a re engagement email. Something to attract their attention to remind them to get them inside of the email directly. After that they visit a sales page and then get a reminder. So then hopefully they buy from you, they get a thank you email and then they get a here's what's next email. You're no longer guessing or sending everyone the same thing. You're letting their behavior drive the conversation. They sign up, they get a welcome sequence. If they don't click in the welcome sequence, they get a re engagement email. Then if they visit your sales page, you send them a reminder to buy, they buy, they get a thank you email and then they get a here's what's next email. Why it works for teachers and really anyone is that people are busy. You can't follow up with every person manually. So we automate everything because automation allows you to keep showing up without burning out. It does take a lot more work on the front end, but the more work you do on the front end, the easier your life will be on the back end. You said it once and it runs while you rest. So let's put it all together and give you a three step action plan to help you with higher impact email marketing trends. I want to simplify everything you Learned today into one easy plan. Step 1 Identify three segments of your audience. Grade level, pain point, content type. Step 2 Set up a welcome sequence with personalizations. Include name, opt in, reference and clear. Next steps. And then step three Build one behavior based automation. So for example, if they click your freebie but they don't buy your product. Send a Want help implementing this email 48 hours later? Start small. Build it over time. Don't let tech stop you. And then remember, there are tons of drag and drop tools that make your life easier than ever. Email marketing is not going away. Podcast Title: The CEO Teacher Podcast
Host: Kayse Morris
Episode Title: High-Impact Email Marketing Trends Teachers Must Leverage
Release Date: July 9, 2025
In the latest episode of The CEO Teacher Podcast, host Kayse Morris delves into the transformative world of email marketing tailored specifically for educators aspiring to expand their online businesses. Titled "High-Impact Email Marketing Trends Teachers Must Leverage," this episode is a treasure trove of strategies aimed at making teacher-run businesses more personal, profitable, and powerful through effective email marketing techniques.
Kayse opens the episode with a heartfelt anecdote that underscores the essence of authentic communication. At [02:45], she shares,
"I was sitting in my Yukon... my email open rates weren't good. I didn't feel like they were really hitting home... I just wanted to write something that feels like me."
This vulnerability sets the stage for the episode's core message: genuine, personalized emails can bridge the gap between teachers and their audience, fostering trust and engagement.
Kayse outlines three pivotal email marketing trends that educators must adopt to thrive in the digital landscape:
Relevance Over Volume
At [05:30], Kayse emphasizes a paradigm shift in email marketing:
"In a world full of noise, relevance is the new currency."
She argues that the focus should shift from the quantity of emails sent to the quality and relevance of each message. Personalized emails that address the recipient by name and cater to their specific needs stand out in crowded inboxes.
Practical Personalization Strategies
Use First Names: Incorporate the subscriber's name in both the subject line and body of the email.
Reference Specific Interests: For instance, instead of a generic greeting like "Hey teacher friend," tailor it to individual interests, such as:
"Hey Lindsay, I put together something I think that you would love for your 4th-grade writers..." [07:50]
Connect to Classroom Challenges: Address specific pain points, making the content feel directly relevant to the teacher's daily life.
Tools for Personalization
Kayse recommends several email marketing platforms that facilitate easy personalization:
ConvertKit: Ideal for segmenting lists and tagging subscribers based on their interactions.
Flodesk: User-friendly interface with superior design capabilities compared to Mailchimp.
Kajabi: An all-in-one platform that integrates email marketing with program hosting, perfect for teachers looking to build comprehensive online offerings.
Building Trust Through Targeted Messaging
As Kayse notes at [12:15],
"Segmentation is the shortcut to trust."
Effective segmentation ensures that each subscriber receives content tailored to their specific stage in the teaching career, grade level, or niche area. This relevance boosts engagement and fosters a stronger connection between the teacher and their audience.
Segmentation Ideas for Teachers
Grade Levels: K-2, 3-5, Middle School, High School.
Niche Areas: Special Education, Science, Classroom Management.
Funnel Stages: New subscribers, warm leads, returning clients.
Real-Life Application Example
"If you're doing a workshop on classroom transitions for Littles, don't send that to your ninth-grade algebra folks. You want to send that to your K through 2 list..." [13:50]
Proper segmentation ensures that teachers send relevant content to the right audience, increasing the likelihood of engagement and conversions.
Automating Conversations Based on Subscriber Actions
At [18:30], Kayse introduces behavior-triggered emails as a game-changer:
"These are the most underused strategies... but they're the most powerful."
Behavior-triggered emails respond to specific actions or inactions of subscribers, automating personalized conversations without manual intervention.
Examples of Behavior-Triggered Emails
Welcome Sequences: A series of introductory emails sent immediately after a subscriber joins the list.
Re-Engagement Emails: Sent to subscribers who haven't interacted with recent emails, aiming to rekindle their interest.
Sales Reminders: Automated prompts sent to those who visit a sales page but haven't made a purchase.
Thank You Emails: Acknowledgments sent post-purchase, followed by suggestions for next steps.
Benefits for Teachers
"Automation allows you to keep showing up without burning out." [20:10]
By leveraging automation, teachers can maintain consistent communication with their audience, nurturing relationships and driving sales without the constant manual effort.
To encapsulate the strategies discussed, Kayse presents a straightforward action plan:
Identify Three Segments of Your Audience
Set Up a Welcome Sequence with Personalizations
Build One Behavior-Based Automation
Kayse encourages teachers to "start small and build it over time" ([25:00]), reminding them that numerous drag-and-drop tools make the process accessible even for those less tech-savvy.
Kayse wraps up the episode by reiterating the enduring importance of email marketing in building sustainable and impactful teacher businesses:
"Email is where the trust is built, the relationship is nurtured, and the revenue begins." [28:15]
She encourages teachers to embrace honest and simple email strategies, emphasizing that the best is yet to come. Additionally, Kayse hints at upcoming resources for listeners, including a comprehensive guide on building an email engine that sells.
For those eager to implement the discussed strategies, Kayse offers further support through the CEO Teacher membership, which provides plug-and-play email campaign templates and ready-to-go sequences tailored specifically for educators.
