That's K A Y S E M O r r I s.com quiz so I wanted to take a little bit of time to explain search engine optimization specifically as it relates to teacherpreneurs or teachers that are looking to make money online. Online Again, SEO stands for Search Engine optimization, but I wanted to simplify that for you. It's really your new best friend for getting found online at all. So think of search engine optimization kind of like the teacher's lounge gossip, but only in a good way. It's all about making sure your awesome content is being talked about and found in the vast halls of the Internet. The great news is is that almost every single social media channel also uses Search Engine optimization, with the highest one currently being TikTok. But I want to talk about the best ways for teachers to get found in Search Engine optimization that doesn't necessarily relate to social media. Let's talk about Google SEO versus Pinterest SEO. So Google is like the detailed teacher who loves structure and in depth reports. And everything needs to be super neat, informative and well organized, usually in a very lengthy blog post. Pinterest on the other hand is your creative best friend. It's obsessed with visuals and quick eye catching ideas so you can swipe during your five minute coffee break. And together Google and Pinterest they form this perfect tag team duo that gets your content front and center. So why do teachers need Search Engine Optimization? Have you ever created a fantastic lesson plan or classroom activity that made you say man this is golden? Well the great news is that Search Engine optimization is how you ensure that gold keeps glittering year after year. And you don't have to reinvent it, you just have to share it online by mastering Search Engine optimization. Your lesson plans, your teacher resources and your classroom tips. They keep getting found by new teachers every single year without any extra hustle. So it's like having your own personal assistant who tirelessly promotes your brilliance 24 7. So let's talk about some really good tactics to use for Google in 2025. Google had a huge 2025 update when it came to Search Engine optimization. The good news for you though is that it means that anything that's authentic and high quality content is king and queen. They love fresh user friendly posts. So think about your students. They love fresh pencils. They love fresh clothes. Guess what? Google's the same way. Latest algorithm adores content that is engaging, informative and genuinely helpful. Meaning quality over quantity. Is this rule of the Google classroom now? So take your time. Put out a content map. Maybe it's two blog posts a month that you can put in great quality. I wanted to give you some step by step tips. First is keyword research for teachers. I want you to dive into my two favorite tools. We teach all about these inside of our CEO teacher membership. One is called Answer the Public and the other one is Ubersuggest. These are going to show you in a pretty answer the public's actually in this like really crazy circle web of what people are searching for. And then Ubersuggest is clarified into specific keywords using traffic light colors. So red would be too hard to rank for green would be easy to rank for. You want to choose keywords that you know people are asking about specifically teachers, and you want to make sure they are genuinely searching for practical, actionable terms. Something like Easy classroom management Tips or interactive 4th grade math worksheets or fun activities for middle school science. Then the next step is to optimize your blog post. Your blog post should always hook readers immediately. Hello, if you're an English teacher, you already know this. You know all about grabbing people's attention, but it should also include your keyword. So titles like 5 Secrets for Stress Free Lesson Planning or 10 Quick Tips for an Organized Classroom are absolutely irresistible. Structure your blog clearly, meaning you want to use H2 and H3 headings to break up your content. If you're like Kasey, I have no idea what you're talking about. Again, we go into so many details about this step by step inside of our membership. But when you use H2 and H3 headings, these are just a way to add text features to your blog post. You make things skimmable and visually appealing. And in a world where people want it quick and they want it now, you just have to do this. So don't neglect your meta descriptions as well and make sure they're snappy, engaging and keyword rich to boost click through rates. And then the next step is content freshness. Google loves content that's regularly refreshed. So let's say that you have a blog post. For me, my best performing blog post is from about 10 years ago. It brings 90% of the traffic to Casey morris.com to this day in 2025. And I wrote it, I think I wrote it in 2018. So. So that's eight years ago. Seven years. My math's not good. It's seven. It's eight years ago. Wait, 20. 2017 was eight years ago. Okay. Okay. But what we do is we go in there and we constantly update it. We make it better. And it is a beast of a blog post now. But that's taken years and years to create. So I want you just to think of it as watering your classroom plants. Consistency keeps everything thriving. And if you have a blog post that's driving an insane amount of traffic every single year, you want to make sure you are inside of that blog post going, how can I make this fancier? Update older blog posts frequently by doing things like adding new insights. So we love to add data or put up some kind of analytics and have some cute images. If you're using classroom tested tips, you could insert new pictures for that and you want to make sure that you have teacher specific downloadable resources such as worksheets, checklists and printable guides. So these are free things that you do to get people on your email list. We're going to be going into a complete deep dive on email marketing in the coming weeks, so just think about ways that you can constantly get people into the heart of your business, which is your email list. This not only boosts your ranking, but it also continuously provides value to your readers. So I wanted to give you like a real life inspiration. Imagine a teacher who consistently refreshed her first grade science lesson plans, blog post by regularly adding fresh experiments, printable worksheets and seasonal activities. She soared to the top spot on Google and kept attracting new visitors month after month. All right, next up, let's talk about Pinterest Search engine optimization in 2025. Pinterest. It's no longer just about recipes or DIY anymore. And if you're thinking to yourself, are people even using Pinterest still? Yes, especially teachers. It's a teacher's go to resource hub and search powerhouse. According to Pinterest. Its seriously, Pinterest is basically the staff room bulletin board on steroids, full of inspiration ideas and ready to use resources. So here are some step by step Pinterest strategies that you can start implementing right away. First again is Pinterest keyword research. I know I gave the ideas of Answer the Public and ubersuggest in Google, but with Pinterest the trends are so easy to uncover. What's hot right now? You're going to use the autocomplete feature in Pinterest's search bar to discover exactly what fellow educators are searching for, searching for things like guided reading activities or math games for kindergarteners. So you'll go into Pinterest, you'll look in the search bar and you'll type in whatever your niche is. Maybe it's kindergarten centers. From there, Pinterest will auto populate the most trending topics inside of that area. Now keep in mind that Pinterest works the best if you pin things three months in advance. So if you could be automatically thinking of what's coming up in three months. So it's currently June if you're listening to this podcast in real time. So I would just count July, August, September, and I would think about the special days that happen in September and other things that could happen to search for them in Pinterest's auto search. Next is optimizing pins. You want to create visually irresistible pins that are clear, colorful and click Worthy. Stick to the ideal dimensions 1000 by 1500 pixels and use easy to read fonts, vibrant colors that pop, and compelling images or graphics and then add keyword rich titles and descriptions that don't just tell about it but are a big shout to like hey, click me and thank me later. So don't over fluff it, don't over explain it, just get people excited in your Pinterest description and then next you're going to want to create a board and profile optimization game plan. So treat your Pinterest boards like labeled bins in your dream classroom. Be super specific and clear with board names like second grade writing prompts or interactive science projects. Maintain a consistent brand look across your profile and boards and think of it as organizing your Pinterest like a neatly labeled classroom, making everything easy to find and visually cohesive. So here's a success story. Picture this. A teacher created a single pin on classroom management tips and strategically loaded it with relevant keywords and gave it an eye catching design that pin skyrocketed traffic to their blog, boosting views by 300% and proving just how powerful Pinterest can be. That top blog post that I mentioned earlier that has performed well for us for the last eight years is also very successful on Pinterest. Next is let's talk about a cross platform hand in hand SEO strategy between Google and Pinterest. Cross promotion between Google and Pinterest. It isn't just smart, it is really essential. Imagine if your best classroom resources could simultaneously be on the hallway bulletin board and in the morning announcements. That's exactly how cross platform SEO works. So here's how you master it. Pin your optimized blog content regularly grabbing those images Making sure each pin or image on your blog post directs its traffic straight back to something that people want to look at on Pinterest and vice versa. Include Pinterest optimized graphics directly within the blog post so that it encourages readers to pin directly from your site. This boosts visibility on both platforms. Consistently use matching keywords on your pins and your blog post to strengthen their mutual visibility and relevance. So here's a real life example. A teacherpreneur with a blog post titled Middle School Math Activities created vibrant keyword rich pins that link directly to her blog. By sharing these pins consistently, she doubled her traffic, dramatically increased her followers, and gained a stream of eager subscribers. Talk about winning at the visibility game. So here's your homework for this week. Your CEO teacher homework is to dive into keyword research using the two topics answer the public and ubersuggest or Pinterest trends. For an added bonus, refresh and create an optimized blog post focused on your chosen keywords and then create five dazzling keyword rich Pinterest pins. I'd love for you to share your progress and tag us on Instagram @the CEO Teacher so we can see all of your SEO victories. I cannot wait to see what you got coming up.
