Every once in a while, a new technology, an old problem, and a big idea turn into an innovation. And that's really the purpose of today's show, is to talk about how you can use what you're doing in the classroom and turn it into a new way of thinking as it pertains to your life as a teacher, one that includes a lot more freedom and a lot less stress. Ralph Martin once said, what you do today can improve all of your tomorrows. I'm in Nashville, Tennessee today and I am here. My boyfriend is a singer and he's here. He's going to be performing tonight. I love, love, love getting to just go out and meet new people. It's my thing. I'm an extrovert and I was chatting with some ladies last night and we had so many similarities between things that we've wanted in our lives and how we're able to do them now because of the Internet and social media. And it really got me thinking about why I started the CEO teacher so long ago. And I was talking to them, just telling them, you know, my purpose on this planet is to make sure that teachers go from undervalued and under to feeling like they can do anything. They can live any life they want. It doesn't matter what your goals are. I mean, whether it's buying a farm and having chickens and goats, or maybe it's to live at the beach, or maybe it's just to be able to pay your bills and not have to stress anymore that now is the time for teachers. You know, it was 2015 and I decided to start helping teachers on my YouTube channel. Some of you may remember those days. I recently shared a old YouTube video clip on my Instagram with the outtakes. Oh man. I was young dom and seemingly desperate for subscribers using things like Chipmunk voices and subscribe now phrasing. But I was hungry to help and I think that's where people find real success. It's a fire. It's an insatiable knowing that you were put on this planet to help other people. My YouTube channel back then gave away free tips and tricks to any teachers that were looking to start maybe a teachers pay teacher store because back then I couldn't find any Tutorials that helped make things easy. And that's what I needed as a busy teacher. I really just like I'm sure many of you wanted it to be easy. And that's how my journey as a teacher coach online began. It was not glamorous. I was working 40 hours a week and also working 40 hours a week on my side job. But it was showing me that I could have the discipline week after week to show up and to help people. I ask myself that question every single day. And I still do. How can I help more people? That's the thing about teachers. Somewhere in our gene pool we were blessed with a gift. I like to think of it as a God given gift, one that lights a fire inside of us and it gives us a calling that is greater than your average human and no offense to average humans for their purpose is just different from ours. And as my YouTube channel began to grow, I felt a strong urge to leave the traditional classroom. But I needed a faster track than what most teachers were using back then, which back then everyone just got started selling their lesson plans online. So I opened up a chance to get coached by me by just sharing on my YouTube channel three packages that I had. And I chatted about it once a week and instantly and I wasn't consistent back then. But instantly, every single after school coaching job that I had available, it filled up. And these calls, they range anywhere from $99 to $500. And within a few days I had enough money in my bank account to replace my monthly teaching salary. And it just involved me showing up and helping a handful of teachers one on one. It was the easiest money I'd ever made a teacher teaching teachers. And that idea has turned into what you know now as the CEO teacher and I get to help the masses. But I am also now doing one on one coaching calls. Again, if you haven't heard, we have a directory. But you know what? That's just my story and an idea of leaving the classroom that turned into a multimillion dollar company. But over the last year we have been training and certifying coaches to do the exact same strategy that I did using our step by step certification program. And the great news is is that any teacher anywhere in the world can do it. All you need is a burning desire to help others. And I'm not just talking about other teachers. I'm talking about you can help parents, students and school districts too. So it's not just my success story. Now some of our coaches have gone from classroom teacher to literacy coach during their nap time hustle. We have a former classroom teacher who is now teaching business tips and tricks and becoming a cheerleader for other teachers, especially new teacher business own as they begin their journey. We have a data specialist who is showing the way toward recording and using data to drive business decisions. We have a retired teacher that has found the flexibility to create her own schedule outside of the classroom so that she can build her dream home. We have another former teacher turned coach that has moved into her dream city and gets to explore the outdoors whenever the mood strikes. We also have many teachers who are teaching full time and building their version of a coaching business so that they can retire early, pay off debt, or just have some extra cash. I believe that teachers need a vision beyond the classroom. However, it's crucial to remember that a fulfilling life can extend beyond the four walls of your classroom. I don't want you to be in the comfort trap, the familiar routine of teaching that can lull us into a sense of comfort, making it easy to overlook our long term goals and dreams. I don't want you to be stuck on the sacrificial mindset where you prioritize the needs of your students, sacrificing your own personal and professional aspirations. I don't want you to be in a limited financial growth mindset where the traditional teaching salary limits your financial freedom and opportunities for significant wealth. I don't want you to feel that illusion of security. While teaching offers a sense of job security, it may not provide the flexibility and control that many educators desire. And then I also don't want you to feel lack of innovation because the rigid structure of your education system, it can really make you feel like you don't get to be creative and it can make you feel stagnant. So I want to encourage you to start thinking about how you could use your experience, your passion, your knowledge to help you as an online coach as well. Whether that's writing a book, maybe becoming a copywriter, maybe helping with website design, leading a team, or using your gifts and talents to teach other teachers reading and writing and math skills. What coaching has allowed me to do is it's allowed me to unlock freedom like I never thought possible. I mentioned at the beginning of the show. I'm in Nashville, Tennessee today. I'm recording this in my car right now and I get to do whatever I want to do, however I want to do it. But I get to do it while helping people and finally earning my worth and saying goodbye to a district set pay scale. I get to be a location independent teacher and so many of my employees and our students get to do the same thing. And for me, that's freedom. Being able to raise my family, take them on any trip that they want, and never ever have to worry about what my schedule looks like. Because I am the creator of my daily schedule. I started back on my workout routine this week. I get up and go to the gym. I take my kids to school, then I go to the gym at 7:30am I went to Athens, Georgia this weekend and ran a half marathon and I had time to train for that during the day while I also worked on my business. And that's what the future of education looks like. That's what teachers are doing today. But I want you to ask yourself these questions. What are you great at? Dr. Stephen Covey says the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. And how could you bottle that into a coaching package, kind of like what I shared on my YouTube channel way back then, and then allow that to be your superhero ability as a teacher, your God given gift. All you have to do is identify what you want to do, create your offers as I chatted about before, and then leverage your network of teachers and friends.
