Well, hey there. Welcome to the ChatGPT experiment. This is the podcast to help you better understand what ChatGPT is, how to use it, and how to get a productive nugget for either your personal or professional needs. My name is Kerry Weston. I am your host and I'm glad you're here. How you doing? How are things going for you either at work or balancing your personal life? It's summertime here in Maine, recording this on the first week of July, and much like many of you that have been listening here in the States, we had our, what, 90 degree heat wave there last week, so not used to that in Maine, right? We don't get high 90s very often, so trying to adjust, but summer is definitely, definitely here. So there may be some weeks here where the podcast doesn't exist during summer, you know, when you travel and get away and you live for sunshine and then you try to get outside. So if you don't see a podcast come up for a week or two, that's why. But I'll try to keep it as current as I can. Busy week for me. Exciting week. First thing I want to share with you is my friend Michael Stelzner, who many of you may know from Social Media Examiner, Social Media World, the conference he's had for a number of years out in San Diego has a podcast called AI Explored. And got to have a good conversation with Mike on the podcast. And that episode dropped this week. And we talk about productivity, specifically how ChatGPT can help decrease that busy middle, right? So the, the three steps in most of the projects that I talk about here is the kind of beginning phase, the imagination phase, the what are we doing, why are we doing it? The outline phase. Then there's the busy middle, where a lot of our mental energy, mental bandwidth and time is spent. And then there's a perfection phase, which is once you get a draft or something done, perfecting it, editing it, making it yours, right? That's that last piece of the puzzle. And more often than not, we spend way too much time in that busy middle and we end up doing what's called perfect enough or good enough, right? And we don't put enough of our expertise or our intelligence or our value into that final stage. So we talked about different ways in which chat TPT can help us kind of shrink, expedite that busy middle so you can have more efficiency, more value, and even more fun, right. In the work that we're doing. So if you haven't checked out, AI Explored, the podcast with Michael Stelzner, do it. There's some amazing. Not just ChatGPT, it's, it's a number of AI tools. And it's been really fun to kind of explore past episodes for me because I'm picking up nuggets as I go. And as you know, I'm trying to be as curious as I can. And so anytime I can learn a nugget, it's a value for me. So time well served. So I would say that there are many podcasts out there that say this is an AI kind of focused, right? Training and focused, but not many of them are what I would consider worth your time each and every time. And Michael, getting to know Michael and talking with him, he's obsessed with making sure that everything that he's doing is providing value and a positive takeaway to those that are spending their time listening or being involved. He's got an AI business society that has some tools. So he's obsessed about making sure that whatever he's doing is adding value to the folks that are listening. He's really trying to be true to the audience that he's building. And I respect that very, very much. So the AI explored podcast is well worth your time if you want to go check it out, especially if you're learning or interested in learning, you know, tools beyond, beyond ChatGPT. So, speaking of ChatGPT, the listeners survey is up for one more week. So the next episode that I put up, I will draw a name out of the folks that have participated. Lots of participation, love it. And I'm going to go through some of my topic and themes here that are, that are resonating and share with you how I came to find that and kind of consolidate that too. But plenty of entries. Appreciate that very much. And next week what I'm going to do is draw a name for a hundred dollar gift card. So I just want to say thank you for the information, thank you for the participation, and thank you for what you're giving because it's valuable to me.
A
Right.
B
And so I'll draw a name and $100 gift card out of that and announce it next week. So if you haven't got in, if you haven't done the listener survey, if you haven't participated and given me information, still got a little bit of time to do that. If you're new to the podcast, welcome. The website is chatgpt experiment.com and at the website is a link right at the top to the listener survey, as well as to a couple guides that have gotten their free guides there five tips for curious beginners for ChatGPT, which has some additional resources, and then building custom GPTs, kind of a step by step guide in each one of those. As I've shared before, when you download that guide, you're going to get an email that has bonus tips, bonus prompts, bonus resources. And some of those resources are going to be directly related to what I'm going to share next. And there's a lot there, right? I've put a lot in there and the feedback that I've gotten from you is, is what has guided me as to what to share. So, chatgpt experiment.com okay, so I mentioned there's three guides and I want to share with you an experiment because some of you have data, some of you have information that you need to get insights from. And so I'm going to share with you what I've done here in hopes that you might be able to get some ideas for maybe some of the work you're doing, some of the analysis that you need to do, some of the data that you have. So I just mentioned the three guides or the two guides in the listener survey, right? So I've got the listener survey that stores the entries in the back end. I've got the free guides, the beginners, and the custom GPT. So there's hundreds of entries and all combined, there's hundreds and hundreds of entries in there. And so that's good data. And so what I did is I downloaded three files. I downloaded, it's called a CSV file, but it's just a spreadsheet. And so I downloaded one for each of those forms.
A
Okay.
B
And saved them in three different files. And then I went to ChatGPT and I said, I really want to make sure that the topics and the episodes that I put together moving Forward for the ChatGPT experiment podcast is paying respect and being valuable to what folks have shared their goals are they're interested in and you know, what they're looking to get out of it and what they want to learn. Now, when you download the guides, I ask you a question, Pretty simple. Just what are you looking to do? What are some things that you'd like to accomplish with ChatGPT? So I've taken that information as well as your listeners survey that I've gotten and I gave ChatGPT background. You've heard me say this before, but if you haven't, this is important.
A
Okay?
B
Anytime I give a task to ChatGPT, I want to do a few different things. I'm not Going to give you a number because I'm making this up as I go, so I don't know what that actual number is, but let me share with you what I do. I treat it like an intern. Okay? You've heard me say AI before is to me, the amazing intern is a perspective that I like to share because it helps me frame my conversation. Okay? So the first thing I do with any project, and this one in particular, as I said, I have a podcast, as you know, and I want to make sure that the episodes and the topics and the conversations and the guests I have are paying respect to what the listeners have shared with me. They're looking to accomplish what their goals are, what their. What their needs, and what their wish list is.
A
Right?
B
So here's what I have. I have three files, and these files are forms that folks have filled in for various things. In these forms and in these files, you're going to find information about what folks are interested in, what topics they want to know more about, what they look to achieve, what their frustrations and problems and goals are with ChatGPT. Now, just like I would with an intern, I said these forms are different. So the information you look at is in different places. But I want you to do is find the relevant information and put it all together. So my first task is giving background as to what I'm doing and why.
A
Okay?
B
And then I shared with Chad, I'm going to upload these three files. What I want you to do is analyze each one, find the information that pertains to what people are interested in, what they want to achieve.
A
Right.
B
What their goals are, and then let's analyze it and give me back an insight. Let's find the top themes that my audience has shared with me that they want to learn more about. Now, what success looks like is an easy to skim, easy to understand list. And then I'll ask you more for detail if I need it. But right now I'm just looking for a summarized list. Okay, So I shared with ChatGPT what success looks like, and then I said, if you have any questions, please ask me now, because I want you to do your best work. So in this instance, what I've done is I've given it the background, I've given it the context, why I'm doing it. I shared with it what I'm going to give it, and then I shared with it what success looks like in the format that I wanted to receive it, and then I gave it permission to ask me questions. Now, that's exactly what I would do if I was talking to an intern or if I was talking to somebody that I was delegating a task to. I would want to give them the background, I would want to give them the context. I would want to share with them what resources I'm going to provide and how they can be successful.
A
And.
B
But I'd also want them to say, you know, or feel confident if I have a question I want to ask. Right. So that's the amazing intern at work right there. And so I fed it to three. I want to share with you the topics that it came back and it said, great. It said, I'm going to extract the goals, the tasks, the challenges, and the top interests. And I'll turn these into practical themes, top categories, messaging ideas. So here's a list of what it came out with. Podcast topic themes your audience wants. And this is from you. This is from folks who have participated.
A
Right?
B
So the number one. And I had them rank in terms of that. Okay, so let me go back. When I said, would you please ask me any questions that you have in order for you to be most successful? It said, do you want them ranked.
A
In any particular way?
B
I said, yeah, so if you see a more common theme. Right, let's. Let's have that be number one. So the more common first and then go down. Okay, great. I'll rank them in order of volume and frequency as to what people are saying. So number one, getting more done at work. That is the number one goal topic and theme.
A
Right?
B
And the keywords were work and team and help and learning and AI and using. And then it shared with me. Here's some episode ideas. So what it's giving me is here's theme number one, here's some keywords that are resonate, and then here's five episodes or here's three episodes ideas, five ways Chat GPT can save you time at work. Using AI to streamline team communication. ChatGPT for daily task management and project planning. Okay, so I'm sharing this with you because I want you to see what I put into it, the description and benefit that it I have.
A
Right.
B
It understands the benefit that it's going to give to me and then the output. So it's giving me not only the answers of here's the topics and the themes in order of popularity, but also, hey, I understand why you're doing this because you want to have episodes that resonate with your audience. So here's some episodes ideas that you could actually use from this topic. Okay, so the second one, this is what you shared with me. So number one, getting more done at work. Number two, better writing and marketing support, episodes, ideas. Let's let ChatGPT help you write better emails, posts and proposals. Using ChatGPT to plan a marketing campaign from scratch, prompting ChatGPT like a creative director. And again, it's taking those episode ideas and it's pulling it from the actual language that you've shared with me. Right. So this is. You can see where we're going. Number three, automating the everyday, building personal assistance and using ChatGPT for outreach and follow up powering a to do list. Number four was AI for personal and professional life, which is really similar to number three. But episode ideas, because of the angle it took was how to use ChatGPT to think through life decisions, creating personal systems from parenting to planning real world personal uses. Right. So it's getting more personal and that number five was time saving strategies. And number six was confidence and clarity using Chat GPT. So it went from most popular to what it called themes, most mentions to least mentions. But it's trying to categorize.
A
Right.
B
And so confidence and clarity is the whole purpose of having this podcast. So how to use it without feeling dumb.
A
Right.
B
Getting over the I don't know what to ask hurdle, these are the episode suggestions that it's giving me. So I thought it was really interesting to share that with you because it's a real life experiment where I had data and that data for you could be emails, it could be numbers, it could be survey information, it could be any kind of thing. Contest entries.
A
Right.
B
And I want you to see how I approach getting something valuable and meaningful out of it. Now, this could have gone a number of different ways, right? I could have given the files to them and I could just say, analyze this and it could have given me a whole bunch of stats and data. But then I got to do something with it. So the power of having this conversation with ChatGPT up front, not only telling it what I want to do, but why I'm doing it, what I'm going to use it for, and how to be successful. Okay, so those are some pretty powerful tips that will help you get more out of this. So why am I sharing this with you? Well, number one, I want to give you behind the curtains on how I actually do this. But number two, I want to share with you what you're telling me and what other listeners are telling me, because this is where I want to go. These are the topics that I want to pay Attention to because you're telling me that. Okay, so I spent some time with ChatGPT and I said, you know, one of the things that folks are telling me is, you know, they want to organize their day. I feel like we have some episodes and we have some replacement, some resources about product management and project management in writing. And by the way, if you were to download one of those guides you would get in the bonus prompts I was talking about is some resources that would guide you in this direction. So I took one of these topics and I said, planning my day, organizing my day, getting through some roadblocks is something that people have shared with me that they really want to use ChatGPT for. So what could we do? How could we do this? And so I said, well, why don't we create a self paced guide, almost a self paced quiz and we can put together some prompts, some fill in the blank prompts that you could give your listeners that would help them create almost a custom conversation built around what's important to them and get some help and guide from ChatGPT. And so that sounds like a great idea. And so I'm going to post this in the show notes and I'm going to put it on the ChatGPT experiment podcast and I'm going to do my best here to describe what it is because this is an audio podcast, you can't see it at the moment. And it's telling me how to use this guide and it says you don't need. It's written, it's written this for me. Because of this conversation, you don't need to go through all the steps. Choose one of the following. Take a three question quiz if you're not sure what kind of help you need. Okay. Or jump to a specific section if you already know that you need help with something specific. And so what's happening now is this quiz that I'm putting up on the website. It's going to ask you, where are you? Okay, so it's almost like a fill in the blank, but it's going to take mad libs. If you're familiar with mad Libs, there's some mad lib prompts that have openings, some variable openings that you can fill in the blank. So there's a quiz and it says, what's your energy level right now? Do you feel low, scattered, tired, foggy? They say medium is. I'm functioning but not really fully focused, high and ready to move. Just need to plan. So there's three questions. What's your energy level? What's your biggest challenge and what kind of support you need right now.
A
Okay.
B
So you'll see as you go there, there's three options that you can pick from to kind of tell chatgpt when we fill in the blank, right, for this mad lib what you're looking for. And then it says here is the type of helpers that we've defined. There's the calm coach, practical planner, the project manager, the clarity partner, the journaling companion, the wellness assistant, the accountability buddy. So it's kind of created these Personas, right that will help you fill in the blank. And here is an example of some of those. Fill in the blanks that I'm telling you about. Okay? So you can come down here and you can say you can copy this page and copy and paste this into ChatGPT. Act like a blank and you'll pull from the list that I've that I'm putting here together that you can look at. Act like a blank. It's the type of helper, right? And you'll choose it from the list. And I'm feeling blank, right? And put in the the energy level again from the list. And my biggest challenge is blank. And that's one of the challenges up above. And I'd like your preferred support. And it's got options to pick from. Please ask me a few questions first to understand what's going on today. Then help me organize a plan that fits my energy and my priorities. Be realistic, encouraging and conversational. So from these options and you can make up your own, right? But from these options to help you, you can fill in the blanks, copy and paste this into ChatGPT and you're off and running. So here's an example if you were to take some and fill it in, right? Act like a calm, encouraging coach. I'm feeling low energy and overwhelmed with too many things to do on my list. I'd like help building a realistic three step plan for today. Please ask me a few questions to first understand what's going on. Then help me create a gentle plan that I can follow. And that is your entry to the ChatGPT conversation that will then interact with you and help you build out this plan to overcome challenge or getting organized or prioritizing what's going on.
A
Okay.
B
And so I have some others in there that are pre made for you.
A
Okay.
B
I need help figuring out what matters today. I have a bunch of stuff in my head and need help sorting it. I'm ready to work but want a simple focused plan. I'm Avoiding something I know I need to do. I want to reflect and reset. I need ideas for meals, breaks, or healthy pauses. Okay, so from the listener survey, let's put all this together as we wrap this episode up. From the listener survey and from the guides and from the information that you've given me, I asked ChatGPT to analyze it. I shared why, because I want to have topics and guides and resources moving forward that is respecting what you're looking for. And then it came back and ranked them for me and organized them for me and gave me some topics. Then I said, let's dig into one of those. And I said, how do we. How do you suggest that we add value? And it says, well, why don't we give them a quiz, right? So it's understanding the context. It's understanding you, it's understanding I have listeners, and you want more resources. And so from there we went to, well, let's make this as easy as possible for folks to get help, right? So I want them to literally be able to copy and paste with some variables to make it theirs. I want to. I want them to copy and paste tools that will help them be successful in some of the things that are on their mind or challenging them today. So here's a. Here's a resource directly from what you've provided that you can find@the chatgpt experiment.com and I'll put a link again in the show notes. So if you're listening on Apple or Spotify, there's a link to the page here. So that's one of the many things that information will help ChatGPT work with you to kind of solve a problem. Okay, so that whole thing that I just shared with you, let's just say it took me two minutes to download the files, and then let's say it took another 30 seconds to talk to ChatGPT to give it context, maybe a minute to give it context and background and whatnot, and answer a couple questions. And then it started giving me the results. So within five minutes, I've been able to take all of this data, make sense of it, put together an organized kind of, I don't know, insight analysis, and then do something with it, and hopefully doing something with it with purpose, because you've shared with me, right, what you're looking for. And so start to finish in under 10 minutes. I've got resources that will help you achieve something that you've told me is very important. Now, my question to you as we wrap this up is what do you have in your day that ChatGPT could help you with, Right. To do something similar. Maybe it's from the prompts that I'm going to give you, or maybe you have a work project, or maybe you have an analysis project that you're stuck.
A
Right?
B
So the key principle here is to feed it the information necessary for the intern to do its best job, to do its best work. And then the tip, I'll remind you again, is give it permission to ask you questions to help understand where you're going.
A
Okay?
B
So again, I'm going to wrap up by saying I really appreciate the information you're giving me. It does matter. I do read it and I do think about it. And we've got another week or so here left for the listener survey. So if there's something that you want to share with me, if there's something that you want to tell me, if there's feedback you want to give me, if there's a guide you want to get, if there's help you want to get, go and take the survey or download the guide and then a hundred bucks to somebody as a thank you from me to you.
A
Okay?
B
And the guest lineup I've got. I'll share this for next time, but I've been playing with tasks, so regularly scheduled tasks in ChatGPT. And I'll share with you the next time what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, what I'm finding and how it's helping me because it's giving me some value and it's giving me value that's going to help you because again, one of the things I'm doing with the tasks is taking into consideration what you've shared with me that you're looking to learn more of. And I'm using those tasks to go and find resources that will help me build episodes to give you value. So thank you.
A
Right.
B
Thanks for the feedback. I hope this is valuable. ChatGPT experiment.com Few there's training there too. Right. So personal training, group training. I know we're in planning season for fall conferences as well, and I've got a number of presentations that I'm making at fall conferences and workshops this year. That September, October period seems to be a pretty popular conference summit workshop season. So if AI ChatGPT is something that you want to have included in your workshop and you think that this would be a good topic, reach out to. I've got a page on the website chatgpt experiment.com specifically for conferences. So reach out and let me know the schedules. It's July, but the October schedule is starting to fill. So reach out, let me know what you're doing, and see if we can figure something out. So I hope that was helpful, both the experiment and the resource and the tips that I gave you forever. For always, though, the number one thing is your curiosity, right? That's the most valuable component here. So until we talk again, do stay curious. Go check out Michael's podcast, Michael Stelzern's podcast. And be good. Enjoy the sun. We'll talk soon.
A
Okay. Bye. Bye.
