I copied the 7000 word transcript from a podcast episode into my manuscript and it felt like cheating. Why was I valuing the “hard work” of writing new words above quotes that were far more likely to make it into the final draft? I’ve been sick for three weeks, travelled to Europe for two weeks, and then had on-going sickness for two months. When I thought it was going to take me a year to write the first draft I freaked out because it felt so long. Now I expect it to take longer. And I don’t write every day or even every work day.
