<p>There is a growing cohort of younger Canadians being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Now, the Canadian Cancer Society is calling for the screening age to be lowered from 50 to 45. </p><p>Dr. Shady Ashamalla is a surgical oncologist at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital, specializing in colorectal cancer and Miranda Fidler-Benaoudia, an epidemiologist at the University of Calgary, on the effects of cancer on young people.</p>
