MSW Media. News whispering jelly beans. Jelly beans. Jelly beans. Jelly beans. Daily beans. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Monday, May 4, 2026. Today, a federal appeals court has approved sweeping abortion pill restrictions, teeing up a Supreme Court showdown. Trump has withdrawn thousands or plans to withdraw thousands of troops from Germany just hours after speaking with Vladimir Putin. The administration's border wall expansion just bulldozed an ancient tribal site. Senators have banned themselves from betting on prediction markets. And alleged Epstein Su side note has appeared nearly seven years after his death. And the House Ethics Committee is investigating Republican Representative Chuck Edwards for sexual misconduct. I'm Allison Gill.

That's what the Catholics say.

And Happy MCA Day. Man, that hit me like a ton of bricks when MCA from the Beastie Boys passed away all those years ago.
Dana Goldberg (1:59)
I know. Man, oh man.

So those two things I'll be thinking about today, watching some Star wars, listening to some Beastie Boys. Also, I wanted to just say really quickly before we get into the news, Dana, this weird thing happened over the weekend that the lawyer for the White House Correspondent's Dinner shooter guy filed a motion in court saying that his client was put on suicide watch and suicide precautions in a padded room with 24 hour a day lights, bright lights on, and in sort of a vest that kind of acts like a straight jacket, even though every doctor that assessed him and a nurse eventually after that said that there were no signs of suicidal ideation. And so there was supposed to be a hearing today, but apparently the lawyer was able to hear from his client who has been taken off of those precautions, though he should have never been put on them.
