Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Today, the Pentagon is pressing manufacturers to hurry up and build bombs because they're running out. Iran has decided to stop negotiating with the Trump administration entirely. A magnitude 7.4 earthquake has struck Colombia, killing over 100 people. Trump has nominated a loyalist to take over the inspector general's job at Interior. Lauren Boebert's son Tyler has been arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a child. And Trump signs an executive order spacing out childhood vaccinations for no scientific reason whatsoever.

I'm Allison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Allison Gill
Hello, my friend. Happy Tuesday. Happy primary day in Wisconsin, Vermont, Minnesota and Connecticut. Woo hoo.
Dana Goldberg
I hope everyone is getting out and voting and doing your due diligence and your civic duty. Yeah. And I hope a lot of these Trumpers lose their ass.
Allison Gill
Yeah, I really would like to see Royce White go down and, you know, or maybe win the primary to get a bigger shellacking in the general. But just what a giant piece of shit that guy is. We talked about him yesterday on Beans Talk. He's trying to get into the WNBA draft to be a bigoted idiot.
Dana Goldberg
Sometimes he's like, sometimes I feel like a transgender woman. Just sometimes, sometimes for the sake of my basketball career is what he said. I'm like, you know what, motherfucker? I'm so tired of these. I hope he realizes that this is gonna spectacularly backfire. The majority of knows that this guy is full of shit. And for the people that are gonna vote for him anyway, they're Trumpers. Nothing you can do about that. They're gonna vote for their guy. What's going on with Max Miller?
Allison Gill
Okay, so the deadline is for to replace him on the ballot is over. You know, Ohio had their primaries a while back. I think it was in May. Yeah, and he won the primary there. And it's just, it's too late to get him off the ballot. The time has passed and we're going to talk about this a little bit more over on Bean's talk. But apparently he was, you know, Ohio Republicans were sort of bullied by the Trump administration not to make a big deal out of trying to replace Max Miller before the deadline. So deadlines passed. He's their candidate. He's running against a guy named Poindexter, the Democrat in Ohio's seventh. It's a pretty ruby red district, but I'll be keeping my eye on it.
Dana Goldberg
Wow. So will I. I mean, I'm going to be disgusted by the results if he still gets elected. But that's sort of what the party stands for at this point.
Allison Gill
It's really almost a requirement to be on your resume to either be abusive towards your wife, your children, or it'll
Dana Goldberg
be interesting to see if his father in law, his ex father in law, comes out and literally Trump, like Trump's, no pun intended against him in this election. He said he's not fit for office. If I was the Democratic challenger, I would take those words. I would go make a commercial immediately and get some donors to get that thing on as much public TV as they possibly can and on the interwebs.
Allison Gill
Yeah. So if you want to donate to Poindexter so he can do an ad buy like that, putting Senator Bernie Moreno's voice out all over the state leading up to the general election might not be the worst idea.
Dana Goldberg
How about it? How about it?
Allison Gill
All right, everybody, we have a lot of news to get to today. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes. First up from the Washington Post, the Pentagon is asking the US Defense industry, private industry, private companies, to rapidly escalate the production and delivery of weapons, including munitions that are in extreme shortage due to the war with Iran. That's according to a Defense Department memo that was obtained by the Washington Post. Now, Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg, who Hegseth is blaming for the munition shortages, by the way, even though Joint Chiefs Chair Dan Kaine has been warning about this since before the war. Feinberg wrote to industry leaders on Wednesday saying that it had no more than 21 days to submit plans to drive significantly faster, more aggressive delivery schedules and or increased production for critical capabilities. That's according to the memo, which has been previously unreported. Quote, years long development cycles are not acceptable. Feinberg wrote. We must dramatically accelerate our program schedules and expand our production capacity. Now Sounds like seizing the means of production anyway.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
The directive comes as the weapons shortage has been a source of tension between Trump and the Department of Defense, according to two people familiar. It's also the latest in a series of actions the Pentagon said and the White House have taken to address an issue that may largely remain unresolved until a gridlocked Congress releases additional defense spending, according to industry experts that still, you know, Even with this 1.15 trillion NDAA, you still have to appropriate it and then you got to get it into the right bags. They call them bags. I don't know why. And then you got to get it, then you got to build it, then you got to, you know, I mean it's, it's, they want it now and you just can't have it now. Especially since the Trump administration is completely crippled now. Completely crippled supply chains with its tariffs and terr the economic policy. It's just, it's bananas. Hey, I have a good idea. Let's go after steelworkers unions and make it real hard to. It's just they're so dumb now. Trump on Thursday said the United States has massive amounts of munitions, posting on Truth Social that large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the US as needed. Oh, so they're being manufactured overseas?
Dana Goldberg
Mm, sure sounds like it. And Gus, America. Not first, America. Second.
Allison Gill
Feinberg's note comes after efforts by the White House to enlist the defense industry to unlock military funds. In late July, legacy defense contractors and Silicon Valley weapons startups what were summoned to the White House to meet with Trump's Chief of staff Susie Wiles, Defense Secretary Pete Kegseth, OMB Budget Director Russ Vogt and White House Legislative Affairs Director James Braid. According to three people familiar in the meeting, which included firms like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, autonomous weapons firm Anduril and the data analytics company Palantir. Company executives were asked to direct lobby lawmakers to increase defense spending through congressional reconciliation. Fox News earlier reported that meeting, by the way. Now, the Pentagon has in recent months announced several framework agreements with the largest US Defense contractors and emerging startups to increase its supply of both low cost munitions and sophisticated air defense weapons like the terminal High Altitude Area Defense, Thaad and Patriot missile interceptors. These framework arrangements are legal, non binding contracts with the US Government and private sector partners that signal the Defense Department's intent to purchase weapons but rely on congressional funding for it to become final. So Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump are like just make the weapons, spend all the money, make the weapons we'll buy them. We promise we'll get the money from Congress somehow.
Dana Goldberg
Mm.
Allison Gill
Quote, they are agreements to agree, and so they're not contracts. That's what Tom Krakow, director of missile defense project at the think tank center for Strategic and International Studies, said. And he went on to say almost nothing's been contracted. That's the problem. You're just going to take Trump's word for it that you're going to get paid for the work that you're going to do.
Dana Goldberg
No kidding.
Allison Gill
You want to do this on contingency. Working directly with industry leaders to accelerate production is not new. It's been clear intent of the president and this secretary from the start. That's Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell. He added that the Feinberg memo is real and will inform the fiscal year 2028 budget submitted to Congress for funding. And it's entirely consistent with our ongoing push to rebuild the defense industrial base. This is why we have to flip the Senate and the House, preferably both, at least one, so that this can't get pushed through. The Pentagon has brought in former Silicon Valley business leaders like former Uber executive Emil Michael to serve as the Defense Department's undersecretary for research and engineering and overhaul, the defense innovation and procurement process. The Uber guy is in charge. Dear God, help us, of research and engineering and overhaul at the Department of Defense. That's like how they put the Airbnb guy in charge of vote.org, mm. But moving forward with the Pentagon's framework agreements to purchase weaponry crucial to Defense Department strategy to expedite acquisition depend on congressional passage of the $1.15 trillion defense spending bill, which remains deadlocked as Democrats object to massive spending increases. Please do not cave. Please do not cave. Quote, that's because it passed the House, but it has to pass the senate. You need 60 votes to do it. Quote, that's the dilemma. That's the danger. Caraco said this really, really critical thing is in jeopardy because of congressional inability to appropr. No, they don't want you in having this war.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Don't blame it on something else. It's very clear what's happening.
Allison Gill
Jesus. Now, in the memo, Feinberg says the DoD is fundamentally shifting how it develops, produces and fields military capabilities to meet current and future challenges. Feinberg deemed several weapons programs critical and under consideration for acceleration during the 2028 fiscal year budget review. It included next generation interceptor missile defense programs, the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System, a mobile air defense Radar system, an advanced pilot training system, and a space based system for missile tracking. The Feinberg memo tasked industry leaders to plan for accelerated delivery that would provide the fastest production schedule to deliver projected orders and increase capacity. It also asked defense firms to propose specific capital investments and facility expansions to support the department's commitment to higher volume. Now, quote, address how we will collaborate as partners and demonstrate your willingness to put skin in the game. Wow. Caraco said some defense contractors are spending their own money to fund production costs. That you are fucking stupid if you're doing that because you know Congress is gridlocked and framework agreements await approval. But he said that comes with a risk for the industry. You think, quote, it's a little bit of a gamble because they're sticking their neck out. That's what he said. They're publicly traded companies and you're not supposed to really stick your neck out on a promise, especially when Donald Trump is the guy promising to pay you.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, no shit.
Allison Gill
Wow. If you are a defense contractor and you are spending your own money on to fabricate and produce munitions now on the promise that this Congress will appropriate money or the next Congress will appropriate money to pay you back, then you deserve to lose all your money. And I hope your stock goes through the fucking ground floor.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, no kidding. I mean, if they're paying any bit of attention to this next story. This is from the Wall Street Journal. For weeks, Trump has been laying the groundwork to declare victory in the Iran war should Iran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Even floating the idea privately to senior aides that he's willing to walk away without a nuclear deal. Isn't that why we got in this in the fucking first place and to liberate the people of Iran?
Allison Gill
Yeah. So no cognizable benefit to the war. You got nothing that you asked for, and we're out of munitions.
Dana Goldberg
Yep. That scaled back objective became more difficult when Iran insisted Saturday on its highest price yet for permitting the free flow of traffic into the waterway, seeking billions of dollars in US Payments, the removal of American troops from the region and an end to the US Naval blockade. That's among other things. That's not even all they're asking for. The rapid chain of events suggests Trump's options for walking away from the conflict. They've been narrowed again. Trump has repeatedly threatened and then of course backed away because Taco Tuesday and
Allison Gill
we're out of guns.
Dana Goldberg
Yet a massive escalation of its bombing campaign. Now, the recent chaos in negotiations signaled Tehran is prepared for a Long and grinding conflict. And this is a quote. Iran's recent hardline demands of reopening the Strait make it increasingly difficult for the President to manufacture a face saving off ramp from the conflict. This is from Mona Yakobian. She's the director of the Middle East Program at the center for Strategic and International Studies. This is a Washington think tank. Dana. Dana.
Allison Gill
This is how it's gone. Trump's like, I would blow you up if you don't give me all these things. And they're like, nope, we're going to close the Strait of Hormuz and you have to give us $100 million. And then the next week he's like, I'm to blow you up really hard if you don't open the Strait of Hormuz and give me your nuclear stuff. And they go, nope, we're not going to do any of that. The strait is closed and now it's $200 million. All right, I'm going to do. And every time the price goes up, the price goes up, the price goes up. I think it's $300 billion now, not million billion dollars now. And there will be tolls through the Strait of Hormuz. And you got to get Bibi somehow out of Lebanon and Gaza. And you also somehow have to withdraw all your US troops from the region. And they're sitting here now saying, as I would I, we're just gonna wait for the next president. Fuck you. Yep.
Dana Goldberg
Art of the deal, am I right?
Allison Gill
Woohoo. So good at it.
Dana Goldberg
Gregory Brew, an Iran expert at the Eurasia Group consulting firm, said, and I quote, the Iranians fully believe Trump wants out and is focused on opening the Strait, which is why they are playing hardball. Hanging over diplomatic talks since April has been the White House's ultimatum that Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon. Trump sought to include nuclear talks as part of a broader negotiations with Iran, but those have proven too difficult for him. Leading the White House in recent weeks to focus more on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Okay.
Allison Gill
Which was open fine before he started.
Dana Goldberg
Yep. Iran's ability to essentially choke off the waterway through sporadic missile and drone attacks. It's proven to be powerful leverage for the country, stalling commercial traffic in roiling global oil markets, including jet fuel. By the way, Trump has declared repeatedly in recent weeks that the Strait of Hormuz was already fully open. But each of these promises has proven premature. Now, with less than three months until the midterm elections and the price of gasoline still much higher than it was before the war started in late February, Trump has been looking for ways to tell the American public that the war is wonderful. Mission fucking accomplished. And now, according to Iranian state media, Iran has ruled out any future negotiations with the Trump administration, declaring it will wait out Trump's term. And I quote, Iran's conditions remain unchanged. 300 billion in compensation, release of frozen assets, and withdrawal of US Forces. Until then, the strait stays closed.
Allison Gill
Yeah, that's been the deal from the beginning.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Allison Gill
So the fact that corporate media's been falling for. Ooh, we might have a deal. Ooh, there's a Treaty of Versailles 2.0. Ooh, we might have a thing. Ooh, there's gonna be a annihilation. Oh, nope, they're pulling back. Oh, like, it's just, we kind of stopped reporting on it because we're like, there's no deal. There's not gonna be a deal. There's never gonna be a deal. He fucked up. He can't get out of it. Here we are.
Dana Goldberg
And what else is happening during this time? We're losing American soldiers. People are dying in this war over fucking nothing.
Allison Gill
And think about all the civilians that are getting killed because our intel is over 10 years old. And none of our intel partners will give us good intel on actual military targets in Iran.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God, what a disaster. This is a fucking disaster.
Allison Gill
Yeah. This is why we were saying, like, before November of 2024, like, you really, really probably should vote for the lady. Next up from the Associated Press. A very powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, killing at least 111 people. And I'm that's gone up by now, damaging hundreds of buildings and leaving many trapped under debris where their loved ones and rescue workers searched through the rubble. Colombia's President Espira said at least 87 people were injured and declared an emergency to expedite funding for the quake recovery, while saying he would visit the disaster zone. Quote, we aren't going to leave the people alone. They're in our hearts and we're going to tend to people with our full determination. Now, the epicenter was San Jose del Palmar. That's a community of about 4,800 people in the Choco region, about 250 miles west of Bogota. And that's according to the U.S. geological Survey. The quake was also felt in Ecuador and Panama, though minimal damage was reported there. Colombia's Pacific region around the quake's epicenter lies along the Ring of Fire. That's the line of seismic faults encircling the Pacific Ocean, where most of the world's earthquakes occur. The Pacific, particularly the Choco region, is one of the poorest regions in the country. Nestled in the dense jungle, much of Choco is highly rural and only reachable by boat or plane, which may pose a problem for authorities in assessing the wider toll.
Dana Goldberg
So just awful.
Allison Gill
Absolutely terrifying. Awful. I've seen the videos. It's. It's devastating.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. All right, this next one's from the Post, everybody. President Donald Trump's Nominated Project 2025 author and former political appointee Dennis Kirk to lead the Interior Department's inspector general office, raising concerns about the independence of the watchdog that has been asked to review the troubled reflecting pool renovation.
Allison Gill
That's so funny how they word it. Why can't they, instead of raising concerns, why don't they say he's installed a puppet to lie about the reflecting pool? You can say it. You can say it. Media, do it.
Dana Goldberg
Do it.
Allison Gill
I believe in you.
Dana Goldberg
Kirk was nominated Friday. Previously, by the way, he had been working within the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence community while serving as an advisor to then Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard as of last year. At the time, lawmakers and watchdog advocates raised concerns that his dual roles. It blurred the lines between Gabbard and the office investigating the use of signal messaging app to discuss a pending US Military strike. The Interior Department's inspector general's office recently has been receiving inquiries from Democrats to investigate the troubled reflecting pool renovation. Democrats also have sought investigations into senior administration officials, potential conflicts of interest. One of those officials, Interior Associate Deputy Secretary Karen Bud Phelan, acknowledged, by the way, in a video that she was involved in changes to grazing policies that benefited ranching businesses such as her family's business. Yeah. Mark Lee Greenblatt, a former Interior Department inspector general who was fired amid Trump's purge of inspectors general earlier this year, called on the Senate to reject Kirk's nomination. Greenblatt, who was nominated by Trump in his first term, said Kirk's involvement would damage the credibility of the office's investigations amid controversy related to record keeping. And it would chill whistleblowers openness to speaking out. And this is a quote, this is a particularly fraught moment with respect to the Interior Department in light of the very public allegations that are flying around regarding the reflecting pole in the arch, Greenblatt said in an interview, referring to the monument. Now Trump wants to build New Arlington National Cemetery, he said. I would think that the White House and President Trump would want an independent review. Do you think that? Do you think that?
Allison Gill
No.
Dana Goldberg
They'd want an independent actor in that position because otherwise those reports won't have credibility. They don't give a fuck.
Allison Gill
They don't. They don't. And we just, you know, we learned National Park Service, we reported, I think back in May from a New York Times story that Donald Trump was siphoning money out of the National Park Service. So people who paid to get into national parks, he was using that money to do his renovations on the ballroom or whatever. And at that time, it was like 75, $78 million or something like that. Well, Scott McFarlane got some information from a whistleblower that it's now up to 600 million that they've taken out of the Park Service. So that's the kind of thing that this inspector general would turn a blind eye to.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
Next up From Colorado Politics, U.S. rep. Lauren Boebert's kid, Tyler Boebert has been arrested and he's facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child. The case originates out of Garfield county in western Colorado. Tyler Boebert, who's 21, faces five counts in total, three charges of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. All the charges are felonies and are alleged to have happened in 2024. The Denver Gazette has requested the arrest affidavit from the Garfield county courts. He was arrested last week by Garfield County Sheriff's Office. This is not the first time Tyler Boebert has had a run in with the law. He was arrested in 2024 and charged in connection with a string of thefts after he and several friends allegedly broke into cars and stole debit cards, gift cards and cash. Tyler Boebert is scheduled to appear in Garfield County District Court on August 19th and is free right now on $10,000 bond. Now, Boebert, a Republican, was elected to the House in 2020. Her district includes much of the eastern portion of the state, including Douglas county and Loveland. In a statement, Boebert says she takes the allegations very seriously. I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.
Dana Goldberg
That fucking family. I mean, is this the son, by the way, of the dad that likes to expose himself at bowling alleys in front of teenage girls?
Allison Gill
I believe it's. I believe that's his dad.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. All right, next up from the Associated Press, President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order calling for revamped childhood vaccine recommendations that promote his long held belief that Childhood shots should be spaced out into separate medical visits. By the way, an executive order is a wish list. It's not a law. I hope people remember that. The order recommends separating the measles, mumps and rubella, the MMR vaccine, into three different shots administered in separate visits and directs the nation's health department to improve vaccine research. This is from the White House. This is from a fact sheet first reported by the Daily Caller. Separate measles, mumps and rubella vaccines for children. They are not currently available in the United States. They're not available here. Speaking about the order at the Oval Office on Monday, Trump also said that one year olds should have their shots separated out into five separate visits, though it wasn't clear whether he was talking about all the vaccines they receive or just specific ones. Probably because he fell asleep in the middle of this fucking press conference.
Allison Gill
Totally, totally did.
Dana Goldberg
Public health experts have raised concerns that spacing out shots, as Trump suggests, can lead to an increased risk of. That children become infected with a vaccine, preventable disease, before returning for another visit. Childhood vaccines and how and when to give them, in combination, go through rigorous studies and safety tracking continues for years as shots are used. Even as the order calls for revised vaccine recommendations, states, not the federal government, have the authority to require vaccinations for school children. Again, this is a wish list. It's not a law. The order will revise states with school vaccine mandates to consider updating, consider updating their laws to reflect the administration's recommendations. Also, Trump fell asleep, as I said, really fucking hard during this press conference. Follow us on the Beans Talk. We're going to show you the video of this. He's not even trying to hide this shit.
Allison Gill
No, no.
Dana Goldberg
And like I said, we're going to show you a picture of it on today's Beans Talk. I think it's also a video.
Allison Gill
We have a video and a picture,
Dana Goldberg
a collage, if you will.
Allison Gill
I saw the picture and I was like, oh, you know. And then the video came out and it was just, he's fucking out like a lightning.
Dana Goldberg
I mean, we've seen him fall asleep in videos. This. He goes fucking hard in this one.
Allison Gill
Yep, yep. We're gonna talk about it on Beans Talk. So join us there, along with Chuck Grassley's vacuum. Rest in peace, Beth. All right, everybody, we have some good news we have to get to, but we have to take a quick break, so stick around. We'll be right back after these messages.
Dana Goldberg
We'll be right back.
Allison Gill

One of the things nobody really warns you about getting older is how much your hair can change. Maybe it's thinner than it used to be. It won't grow as fast. Maybe more shedding, maybe stress. Hormonal changes have started showing up in places that you weren't expecting. But Oneskin looked at that problem and they've brought longevity science behind their skin care into a new daily scalp serum called OS1 Hair. And I'm in love with it. OS1 Hair is powered by One Skin's proprietary OS1 peptide, and it works directly on the scalp where hair health begins. The goal is not to coat the hair or make it look temporarily fuller. It actually nourishes your scalp at the root so your hair can look and feel healthier over time. The results from their clinical studies are very convincing. After six months, participants saw a 43% increase in hair thickness and a 40% increase in density, along with less visible shedding. I love that so much. And after just three months, 75% of customers saw visible new hair growth. Many hair treatments can leave your scalp irritated or greasy. OS1 hair is drug free and water based, so you can use it every day. It can also be used by itself or alongside other hair treatments. No problem. And for those of you who already know one skin, you know that the science works. The patented OS1 peptide has been extensively studied for its effect on cellular aging. And it's already the foundation of their skincare, which is incredible. But now they're applying that same approach to the scalp and the hair. And it took me no time to incorporate this into my normal hair routine, and I'm completely satisfied with the results. Born from over 10 years of longevity research. 10 years. Dana Goldberg
Let's do it. Let's do it. All right. This one's from Anonymous Pronoun she and her hello Beans queens. Thank you for all you do to keep us both informed and sane. Your efforts, humor and profanity keep me and so many others afloat during these tough times. With much love and respect and I'd like to share feedback with you from the August 10th show. In response to one of the Good News travel submissions describing a region in Italy where people have lived continuously for 9,000 years, AG commented that America we're just wrapping up 250. That is true of the Declaration of Independence.
Allison Gill
Oh, I just mean the white assholes that came. I'm not talking about the continent itself.
Dana Goldberg
Exactly. It's not true. I'm just going to But I will get give some credence to this not true of the people inhabiting this land for more than 10,000 years. Native people are here and have been here since time immemorial. As much as the colonizers tried to exterminate us, we have survived and will continue. Thank you Anonymous. Much appreciated. I know Allison, sometimes we get ahead of ourselves with the language. And obviously I think we all can agree that this land was not originally founded in 250 years ago, right? As my pod pet tariff, I am sharing an adorable and yes, this is adorable picture from the Internet of two otters. One's waving.
Allison Gill
Oh my goodness. Oh my gosh. Anonymous thank you so much. Deep, heartfelt apology. I honestly wasn't trying to negate that, but very well pointed out and I appreciate that. Next up from Mindy Pronoun. She and her thank you Lagoon ladies for all your hard work. I rarely miss a day. My local Red Wine and Blue group recently sponsored a free viewing of the documentary Light Workers followed by a zoom Q and a session with the filmmaker Bob Roth. I'd like to encourage other organizations to consider arranging a viewing and we'll have lightworkersdoc.com in the show notes along with a link on how you can host a screening. I'm including a photo of several things you enjoy. Dogs and Pollination Garden. Here's a picture of my dog Rosie, breed unknown, guarding her dad, AKA my husband, as he's tending the bees in the garden. You're beekeepers. This is so cool. Oh my gosh, look at this pupper. Wonderful. Thank you so much, Mindy. And we'll have links those things you mentioned for lightworkers doc.com in the show notes.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my gosh, so cute. All right, from Lili pronouns she and her. Here in Cincinnati, Ohio, we're not afraid to stand up to ICE bullies and stand up for our neighbors. In particular, many Haitian people who came here relying on our government's offer of protection from unlivable conditions in their home country, who contribute greatly to our economic and our communities, who peacefully raise their children like I do, have the rug pulled out from under them by this failed and racist regime. Many have been summoned by ICE for early Sunday mornings at the imposing blue ash Cincinnati suburb ICE office building. They are being pressured to leave our country or to be forced to wear an electronic monitoring unit like a dangerous criminal. This is a shameful time in our country, but A crowd of 550 people in Cincinnati came out early in the morning and even more came out on August 9th. If anyone wants to support local efforts to non violently resist an out of control executive exerting power over our neighbors, your listeners can support, follow and amplify our local nonprofit organization, ignitepeace.org which is leading the way. I have made so many good friends through simply having the opportunity and seizing it to speak up for justice, safety and dignity for all our neighbors. Please see photos of me and friends from Sunday morning outside ICE and my POD pet tariff. Here's three boy rescue kitties, Tuxedo, Dennis and Jerry.
Allison Gill
Oh my gosh, I love them. They're wonderful and this is fantastic. Thank you for organizing all this. I imagine everyone's by now seen the video of the a Haitian man showing his ankle monitor to people and then collapsing onto the ground and just wailing and crying because of the, you know, just the fear and the terror. It's horrible. It's awful. Dana, I don't know. Have you seen that video?
Dana Goldberg
I have not. I have not.
Allison Gill
It's. We can't look away, right? So thank you so much for drawing attention to this and being there and supporting these amazing members of our community. Next up from Anonymous. They them Beans Queens. Longtime listener. I waited to be able to send in the best news. Sorry, it's kind of a long one, but I promise it's worth it. I work at a law firm. We took on a few Venezuelan LGBTQ asylum claims in 2025. Pro bono, no charge because gestures broadly. Despite immigration law not being one of our specialties, we won asylum for our two clients. Making this extra good news are clients with no criminal history got picked up by ICE just for the bad luck of being near a raid in June last year. They were both detained for months in the local ICE jail run by the GEO group Boo Hiss. One of our clients got her order granting asylum in September 2025, but DHS appealed. They and the immigration judge, whose role is basically an extension of DHS now, thought it appropriate to keep her detained while the notoriously months long appeals process proceeded. We disagreed, obviously, and a local nonprofit filed a habeas corpus petition to get our client out of detention. The federal judge ordered her release and even though ICE dragged its feet over the weekend, our client was released in May. So shout out to two nonprofits that made this outcome possible, the Colorado Asylum center and the Immigrant Freedom Fund for podpet Tax A photo of two bracelets the client made for me while she was bored out of her mind in ICE jail out of string made of trash bags and headphone cables dyed with shampoo and soap. Extra happy. Once released, she came out as a trans woman. As a trans person myself, I was psyched to see her stepping into her authenticity and freedom. The good news is that ingenuity of our neighbors from other countries and their advocates prevail yet again. More to come. Keep up the great work. I depend on your reporting and it always brings a smile to my face. Even when the shit is bad. Anonymous what an incredible story and what amazing work this law firm is doing Dana. Two Venezuelan LGBTQ asylum seekers and they won it pro bono.
Dana Goldberg
Amazing.
Allison Gill
And got their release. And look at these bracelets that she made in ICE out of headphone cables, trash bags and shampoo for dye.
Dana Goldberg
Fucking wild.
Allison Gill
That's beautiful and incredible.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah it is. I would wear that until that thing fell off my wrist.
Allison Gill
Ah, me too. Oh wow. Thank you so much. Anonymous Great submission.
Dana Goldberg
Yep. Next up from Jill Pronoun. She and her howdy beans Queens. Some good power to the people news from my central Connecticut town. Our city council was set to sign a pilot contract with Flock. That's that surveillance camera and the drones that have been used, among other things, to track a woman crossing state lines seeking abort in by cops to stalk their exes. By the way, they're also filled with silver and gold everybody. Don't forget that after hearing after hearing, person after person testify against the potential attack on privacy. At the last council meeting, our mayor said he was no longer in favor of signing the contract.
Allison Gill
Aha.
Dana Goldberg
Nice. A few days later, our government placed a moratorium on them statewide. When we speak, they listen. Well, sometimes for my pot pet tariff attaches a pic of my calico kitty Franny Lady Frances Kensington, who has recently decided that my work laptop is the most comfortable spot in the house. Thanks for all you do. By the way. We're gonna have a link to this how to fight deployment of Flock and other mass surveillance license plate readers in your community from the American Civil Liberties Union. We're gonna have a link to that in the show notes so you can read up and educate yourself just a little bit more.
Allison Gill
Look at this cute little baby. Tiny calico.
Dana Goldberg
I know.
Allison Gill
And she's decided it's the most comfortable sp because it's very warm. Jill, the laptop is warm. So I tried to do one of those decoy laptops, but they weren't interested unless I actually plugged it in and warmed it up. So that's what you got to do sometimes. But thank you so much for that information and congratulations on your governor placing a moratorium on flat cameras statewide. Next up, Robin pronoun. She and her. Hello, Beans. Queens. When our older dog died in the spring, I looked for a rescue to a dodge. Meet Bean. With that name. I knew even before meeting him that he'd be perfect for our family. And he is, except for his habits of chasing skunks and snoring like a chainsaw. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the fight. Look at this sweet angel baby. And I don't you didn't give us any breeds to guess, but it looks like a Boston terrier. I don't know.
Dana Goldberg
It looks like one to me, too.
Allison Gill
Yeah, it's cutie piece. Yeah.
Dana Goldberg
All right. I guess. It's anonymous. No pronouns. We're just saying hi on a summer Friday evening from Vancouver, British Columbia. I love this hi there. Just popping in to say hello. The gals, Sarah of the green dress and Anna.
Allison Gill
Oh, Anna, Anna, Anna.
Dana Goldberg
Excuse me. Who met at the Chicago gala after one had just toured a flat in the other's Vancouver building, are still hanging out. That's wild. This evening we had old fashioned in disguise cups on Jericho beach and then Indian food. This sounds like a great fucking night. Thanks for so much. Thank you so much for bringing us together. And I can't wait to see you in Charlotte, watch Ted Lasso together. This is a fantastic story. And this picture's beautiful. You guys look great.
Allison Gill
Fantastic. Yeah, that sun looks nice. I need some vitamin D. I really do. And our first episode of Me and Charlotte. It's out. It's already out. It's on MSW media on our YouTube channel. So just go to YouTube or go to Google and search MSW Media Diamond Dames. And you can watch me in Charlotte.
Brian Caram
Yeah.
Allison Gill
All right. Erica pronouns. She and her hello. I have Some travel pictures of Rome. Roma. Buongiorno. Associated Press. Italy and the Pantheon. These were taken the second day of our solar eclipse cruise. Trip.
Charlotte Clymer
Trip.
Allison Gill
It's been so hot here, but it's also less crowded than it would be in. Not as flesh melting weather. We're having such a good time.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, I love it.
Allison Gill
Oh, wow. It's got to be just breathtaking, right?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, I think the Pantheon in, in real life is. It's. It's pretty extraordinary. It's also just right in the middle of a neighborhood which, which is wild.
Allison Gill
Right? I was thinking that too, when I was looking at like Ephesus and some other places in ancient Rome. I know that's in Turkey and not in Italy, but, you know, Rome was big back in the day. All right, that was a short one. I'll do the next one too, if that's cool with you.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
From Victor. He and him ag Dana and the Beans team. I wanted to write back with an update. I started an Instagram page, VictorNature Photos for some accountability to finally learn how to properly use my DSLR camera in manual mode to take better photos for a very special trip. A dream family vacation to South Africa. When I retired from a Major Telecom in 2025, my family and I immediately began planning this bucket list adventure, and it did not disappoint, though it was both deeply moving and eye opening right from day one. We also visited the Apartheid Museum, which was profoundly sobering, seeing how the rise of apartheid was fueled by political figures exploiting the fear and economic anxiety of the white working class. Amplifying a fear of being swamped by the larger African population felt eerily familiar. It sounded identical almost to the rhetoric we hear today from the far right in the US Targeting immigrants and the LGBTQ communities. History rhymes were impossible to ignore. After absorbing all that heavy history, the second part of our trip offered a much needed sanctuary. We stayed at the Umoya Safari Lodge, who far exceeded our high expectations of hospitality, and spent a week taking a complete break from the world, just existing in God's creation and basking in the sheer beauty and excitement of Palanisburg National Park. We went on daily game drives at 6am and 4pm and not a single person in the family complained about the early wake up calls. The thrill of never knowing what you might spot around the next bend made getting out of bed easy. I'm so grateful to my family for making it such an unforgettable trust trip and sharing in the joy for my Pod Pet Tariff wildlife edition. I'm Attaching a couple of photos I snapped of an incredible secretary bird we spotted on safari. I'll be posting plenty more of my favorite shots from the DSLR over my Instagram.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God.
Allison Gill
At Victor Nature photo starting on Friday, you got a secretary bird in the wild. Thank you all for keeping us informed, sane and hopeful every day. Look at, look at.
Dana Goldberg
I do feel like this would be a secretary bird.
Allison Gill
I love secretary birds. This is my favorite bird. They stomp on snakes like kill snake, kill snake. And they're very tall. They look like dinosaurs. They're huge.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God.
Allison Gill
And those little plumes that come up out of their hair and they have full on like eyelashes. Like they look like beautiful, like Jasmine Crockett beautiful eyelashes. But they're.
Dana Goldberg
I love that. That's now a comparison. Jasmine Crockett beautiful, beautiful eyelashes.
Allison Gill
Shit, they're gorgeous, right? And they're called secretary birds because those things coming up out of their heads are like. You know when secretaries used to stick pencils in their hair in their buns like to hold pencils and pens. That's why they're called secretary birds.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God.
Allison Gill
Unless I'm wrong about that. I mean that might just be an old wives tale that I.
Dana Goldberg
Hey, I'm buying it. It looks like it to me.
Allison Gill
But favorite bird. Thank you for sending those in. That's so cool that you got to see them in their natural habitat that.
Dana Goldberg
Love it, love it, love it.
Allison Gill
That's the good news, everybody. Keep sending it to us dailybeanspod.com click on contact. And if, if I say something stupid, man, call me on it. I want to know about it.
Dana Goldberg
Same.
Allison Gill
Always working on getting better and we love the corrections. So thank you so very much for anything that you want to write in about. We truly appreciate it. Dana, you got anything going on?
Dana Goldberg
I mean, I just want to tell if there's any new listeners or people that for some God forsaken reason haven't heard yet. The Southwest Funny Fest In Albuquerque, New Mexico is coming back on October 9th. It's had a six year hiatus. I'm so excited. We've got a lineup of LGBTQ comedians headlining, comics from around the country, and we're going to be helping to raise money for Equality New Mexico. I think there might be an Alison Gill sighting, from what I understand. Possibly, possibly. I don't want that to be your reason for booking, but you never know. And then I will be performing in Chicago on September 23rd. There's still some tickets on available for that. You can get everything on my website danagoldberg.com hit my tour schedule. Go down to the dates that you would like to go to and just click on them and get tickets. It's going to be a fun time.
Allison Gill
Yes, it is going to be a fun time and I'm looking forward to it. There may be an Alison Gill sighting. You never know. You never know with these kinds of things.
Dana Goldberg
You never know. Sometimes she just shows up. She just shows up.
Allison Gill
Yeah, yeah, I just show up where I can. You know what? We'll just leave it at that, everybody. If I seem a little out of it, it's because I went to the dentist again this morning. So I just lost my whole train of thought and I'm like, I could just probably end the show. But then I was like, oh, I forget what my sign off is. But then I remembered it. So we'll do it.
Dana Goldberg
We'll see you all tomorrow.
Allison Gill
And come check us out over on Beans Talk today. There's a lot that we have to go over and I look forward to it every day because I get to work with one of the most amazing people in the whole world, Dana Goldberg.
Dana Goldberg
