MSW Media. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Monday, July 14, 2025. Today, Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have lost control of the Epstein files narrative, and Democrats in Congress are starting to demand answers. The State Department has enacted widespread layoffs. Pam Bondi has dismissed the charges against the doctor that sold fake Covid vaccination cards. FEMA failed to answer thousands of calls during the flooding. In Texas. Republicans erase all mentions of bisexual people from the Stonewall Monument. A Border Patrol agent is facing criminal charges after assaulting a Long beach police officer. A new ICE memo outlines plans to disappear people to third countries. A California farm worker has been killed in a chaotic ICE raid. Democratic lawmakers toured Trump's Florida concentration camp. And a judge blocks profiling tactics by ICE agents in California. I'm Alison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Alison Gill
Hey, everybody. Dana's back. Hey, Dana. I'm back.
Dana Goldberg
Hey, everybody. I missed you all terribly. God, it really feels like a long time. I had a great work trip in Europe and had a wonderful show and I got to meet some new Beans listeners. They're not new listeners, but they're new. They're new to me, that they are Beans listeners, but they're everywhere. Our Leguminati are everywhere. So it was a pleasure to meet those of you who are on the ship. Thank you for coming over and saying hi and giving hugs, giving laughs, all those things, but I'm just. I'm happy to be back. I don't know what time zone I'm in. I don't know what day it is, but. But I am back.
Alison Gill
Are you on the west coast again or.
Dana Goldberg
I am on the West Coast. So I flew back to New York. I was there for about 30 hours and then I flew to LA this morning. So I really don't know. My body has no idea what time it is, so there's a good chance. Allison and I are recording this at about 3:30 Pacific Time. Obviously by 5:30 Pacific Time, there could.
Alison Gill
Be that chance that could happen. Val, we're so glad to have you back.
Dana Goldberg
It is good to be back. I know there was some tea spilled in Texas and. Holy.
Alison Gill
The Epstein files, man, you missed. Well, I'm sure you, you, you weren't here on the beans when the Epstein files stuff went down, exploded in Trump's face this weekend.
Dana Goldberg
So last week, so wonderful to watch.
Alison Gill
It's. And it keeps getting worse for him. Now, last week the Trump administration said there's no Epstein files, no client list, nothing to see here. There just aren't any and then after they. This is like, after. Like, remember, they handed out binders to, like. I don't. People who posed for photos for social media that said Epstein files on them.
Dana Goldberg
And they literally walked out of the White House, and you could see them in a camera. They were very proud that they were walking out with the Epstein files. They made sure that the cameras could see them.
Alison Gill
Yeah. And after Pam Bondi said the files were on her desk, she told reporters, they're on my desk, and I'm going to review them. And this did not. By the way, everything that's blown up has. This is not sitting well with the MAGA base or Dan Bongino, for that matter.
Dana Goldberg
Cash Patel apparently is not happy with it either, which is really interesting, because if you're pissing off and losing Cash Patel, you must be doing something wrong.
Alison Gill
Yeah, well, he's actually kind of trying to backpedal it and support Bondi, which is upsetting his previous fan. This is what happens when you put podcasters in the White House and in jobs, like, big, important jobs at the FBI.
Dana Goldberg
Although, however, you would make a hell of a White House person. So let's. Let's not go too far in this whole story, though. Wired also reported. I almost want to say this, like, we're girls, like, gossiping about people. I want to be like, oh, my God. Allison. And the Wire reported that there's a missing minute from the Epstein jail video. What? Yeah. And according to the metadata, it was modified using Adobe, which fueled all kinds of backlash online. Oh, my God.
Alison Gill
No.
Dana Goldberg
Yes.
Alison Gill
No, we'll get this.
Dana Goldberg
I won't do that the whole time, you guys. I promise. I was about.
Alison Gill
You know, I heard. Oh, my God. So Dan Bongino is actually considering leaving his job after a heated cut. Now, you know, he's the. He's the Deputy Director of the FBI, which is hard for me to say out loud, but he had a heated confrontation with Pam Bondi over his frustration with how the Justice Department had handled the Epstein files because he promised his podcast fans that he'd release the files and that Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in prison. And now all of his fans are mad at him, and that hurts his fifis. So he wants Bondi to take the fall. And they got in a big old fight. I mean, oh, my God, it's out of control.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, yes. And. And I kept my underwear on. Dershowitz, that douchebag. He chimed in, saying that they're definitely Epstein files and he has seen them, which is really interesting. So Elon said the Same thing, by the way, after pointing out that Trump was in the Epstein files when they got into that big old fight last month. But this is weird. Dershowitz is saying he knows that there's a list, and now he's also asking Trump to pardon Epstein's co conspirator, Galene Gay. Will you say her name for me?
Alison Gill
Oh, Ghislaine. Ghislaine.
Dana Goldberg
Ghislaine. Ghislaine Maxwell. I try not to remember these things of horrible people. She's actually in prison. She's in prison because of all of this. And all of a sudden, there's no. There's no list.
Alison Gill
Trump's not.
Dana Goldberg
Blah, blah, blah. I just can't. But Dershowitz is playing both sides of this coin right here.
Alison Gill
Yeah. Oh, and I'm checking right now, because as we record this on Sunday. No, today, Monday, July 14, the Department of Justice, Pam Bondi's response is due to the Supreme Court in Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal. So, you know, Ghislaine appealed her conviction. Right. And it went up through the courts, and now it's at the Supreme Court. And after two delays, Pam Bondi has delayed this twice. Now it's actually due tomorrow, which is today. As you're listening to this, I mean.
Dana Goldberg
It'D be interesting to see what happens there.
Alison Gill
Yeah. Especially since Dershowitz is seeking a pardon. Right. And then, by the way, Trump, who can't keep his mouth shut about anything, posted on Truth Social, his social media platform, that Pam Bondi is great, and everyone should leave her alone. All the guys and some gals should leave her alone. And that there are actually Epstein files, but that Obama wrote them.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, yeah. Yep.
Alison Gill
And that pissed off Maga, and Trump actually got ratioed on his own site. So if you don't know what a ratio is, what it means is if you post something on, like, Twitter, Truth Social, Blue sky, and you get more or even on Instagram, right? If you get more comments than likes, that's considered ratioed. And because basically it means people are unhappy with what you've said, Right.
Dana Goldberg
They're not liking it, they're talking about it.
Alison Gill
Right. And so he got ratioed on his own post about that. Hey, hey, to my boys and some gals, or whatever he said it was like this crazy long screed about, you know, leave Pam Bondi alone. Some of my boys need to leave Pam Bondi alone. You know, the Epstein files were written by Obama, and this just sent it into overdrive. Like Streisand affected it. Right?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
And it's becoming clear that this now needs to be a talking point. And Democrats in Congress are already on it. They have actually been for a little over a week now. First, Ron Wyden, who sits on the Senate Finance Committee. The Senate Finance Committee has demanded Pam Bondi hand over all evidence and documents that she has that have to do with who funded the Epstein operation.
Dana Goldberg
The other thing that is making Pam Bondi look like a fucking idiot. She had to walk back. And I know this isn't part of this, but she had to walk back and basically be like that missing minute. It happens every single night in every single video. So either they're going to have to edit out a minute from the videos that have existed in its eternity, in eternity in that prison, or. Or they're going to get caught on this bullshit. And it's. There's. It basically was from, like I said, an adobe. Like, it's marked that you can trace that stuff if you edit something.
Alison Gill
The metadata is edited.
Dana Goldberg
Exactly. And by the way, all of the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, they sent a letter demanding that she hand over all of Epstein files that mention Donald Trump specifically. Yeah.
Alison Gill
So they're on it. And John Ossoff talked about it in a rally speech this weekend. Senator Padilla mentioned the Epstein files on the Sunday shows. AOC tweeted about it. It's blown up. And now I feel like the next time I see my Uncle Frank, I can say, hey, we might not agree on stuff, but Trump should really release those Epstein files. Right. Like, they're so mad. Even Benny Johnson, you know, who's paid by Russia.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
Is like, what? They're all mad. Mike. General Flynn. Mike Flynn is calling Trump out on this.
Dana Goldberg
It's bad news, which is interesting. And I. All of these people out there, like Democrats, don't want the Epstein files released because Clinton's going to be on it. You know what? If Bill Clinton hurt a young girl and did anything illegal, I want anyone who was involved with this to go down. I don't care if it was a Republican, a Democrat, independent. If you were involved in trafficking young girls or you did something illegal to hurt someone, I don't care. I want them all to go down. So stop saying Democrats are happy about this, because Bill Clinton might be on it. If he's on it and he did something, I'm. I'm fine with him going to prison.
Alison Gill
Yeah. I want the. If the Epstein files released in their entirety. So now they're scrambling, trying to figure out what to do, because this is a pretty massive crack in their base.
Dana Goldberg
You know, so we need to take advantage of it.
Alison Gill
Yeah, we really do. This is important to them. Their whole cult is sort of steeped in this idea of the Epstein files. So I have been calling my senators and talking to dccc, dscc, and the folks that I know at the DNC and be like, take this and run with it. Keep running with it. Keep hammering it. Keep hitting this hammer, because it really, really bothers them a lot. Absolutely. Everybody, we have a lot of news to get to. I'm so glad you're back, my friend.
Dana Goldberg
Me too. It's great to see you.
Alison Gill
We have hot notes, but we're going to take a quick break first, so everybody stick around. We'll be right back after these messages. We'll be right back. Hey, everybody. I used to dread going to sleep. Not because I didn't like sleep. I love sleep. Sleep is my favorite. But because I never felt fully rested. I would have bad dreams or I wake up sweating or my back would be sore. No matter how long I was in bed, I would wake up feeling groggy. I had achy hips. No energy was terrible. I started paying closer attention to my sleep data on my Apple watch, and it confirmed what I suspected. Light sleep, tons of restlessness, and a heart rate that's all over the place. Then a friend mentioned Helix sleep years ago and how much it helped them. So I finally gave it a shot, took their sleep quiz, and the first thing I noticed was how supportive and amazing the mattress was. There was no more waking up in the middle of the night to readjust or cool down. And the numbers didn't lie. My sleep tracking has dramatically improved. I'm getting longer stretches of deep sleep, and now I'm waking up fully rested and ready to go. So now I actually look forward to bed. Even on nights when I don't get a full 8 hours, I still feel better than I used to with my old mattress. Helix has made sleeping something I can count on again. And if you've been dealing with the same issues, then Helix is the choice for you. Go to helixsleep.com dailybeans for 27% off site wide. This is exclusive for daily beans listeners. That's helixsleep.com dailybeans for 20% off site wide. Make sure you enter our show name after checkout so they know we sent you again. That's helixsleep.com dailybeans all right, everybody, welcome back. It's time for the hot notes. Hot notes. All right, first up, the State Department on Friday began laying off more than 1300 staffers as it seeks to cut the size of the US workforce by about 15%. That's part of the Trump administration's sweeping plan to, quote, reorganize the department. This is just horribly sad, Dana. These are people who have been there for nearly some near for, like, four decades. Wow. That got a pink slip on Friday. I have a couple of friends that were given 30 minutes to gather their things. There were massive crowds in the lobby and outside the State Department applauding as people left, crying, hugging each other. And by the way, Dana, PBS got photos of signs that were hung up in the bathrooms at State Department saying, quote, colleagues, if you remain, resist fascism, remember the oath you vowed to uphold.
Dana Goldberg
Wow.
Alison Gill
Yeah. Just decades of patriots serving their country torn apart and thrown away. All Democratic members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee penned a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday denouncing the reduction in force, quote. During a time of increasingly complex and widespread challenges to US national security, this administration should be strengthening our diplomatic core, an irreplaceable instrument of US Power and leadership, not weakening it, however, rifts would severely undermine the department's ability to achieve US Foreign policy interests, putting our nation's security strength and prosperity at risk. It's just so sad.
Dana Goldberg
It is. It is. It really is awful. Allison, thank you. Two days after the catastrophic floods roared through Central Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, it did not answer nearly two thirds of the call to its disaster assistance line. This is according to documents that were reviewed by the New York Times. A lack of responsiveness happened because the agency had fired hundreds of contractors at call centers. That's according to a person that was briefed on the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Now, the agency laid off the contractors on July 5 after their contracts expired and they were not extended. That's according to the documents in the person briefed on the matter. Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary who has instituted a new requirement that she personally approve expenses over $100,000, did not renew the contracts until Thursday. That's five days after the contracts expired. FEMA is a part of the Department of Homeland Security. The details on the unanswered calls on July 6, which had not been previously reported, by the way, came as FEMA faces intense scrutiny over its response to the flood in Texas that has killed more than 120people. The agency, which Trump has called for eliminating has been slow to activate certain teams that coordinate response and search and rescue efforts. When Asked about this on the Sunday shows, Kristi Noem called it fake news. She is a horrible human being.
Alison Gill
We have the documents. Puppy killer. We have them.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Alison Gill
She's awful. She's just horrible. She doesn't care about this. And then of course they're like, why is everybody politicizing this? It's like, because we're trying to find out what happened wrong so it doesn't happen again. Yeah, it's not politics to find out who dropped the ball. But we can't ever expect anyone in this administration to take accountability for anything. Next up from cbs. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Saturday she's dismissing the criminal charges against a Utah plastic surgeon who was currently on trial for allegedly issuing fake CDC COVID 19 vaccine cards. Remember this guy?
Dana Goldberg
I do.
Alison Gill
He was giving out fake vaccine cards to people who sought them. His name is Dr. Michael Kirk Moore, whose criminal trial was currently underway in Utah, was indicted by the Justice Department in 2023. His medical corporation and three CO defendants were accused of allegedly destroying more than $28,000 worth of government provided COVID 19 vaccines and distributing at least 1937 falsely marked COVID 19 doses on vaccine cards in exchange for direct cash payments or donations to a charitable organization. Moore pled not guilty to the charges while one of his co defendants entered a plea agreement for a misdemeanor charge and another co defendant entered into a diversion agreement. One co defendant is currently on trial with Moore. A Justice Department spokesperson did not respond to questions on whether or not the charges charges against them would be dropped as well. The announcement comes after. Can you imagine pleading guilty alongside this doctor that you co conspired with and then he gets a pardon and you're just hung out to dry.
Dana Goldberg
God, that probably happens so much right now.
Alison Gill
I know. Right now. This announcement comes as the department is facing uncertainty after a clash between Bondi and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino over a Justice Department review of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. This Epstein's story is everywhere, Dana. Which led to Bongino not showing up for work on Friday. He was so emotional because, you know, women can't be in leadership positions because we're too emotional. But Bongino was just so distraught that he just stormed out of Washington D.C. and just didn't come to work on Friday.
Dana Goldberg
He's really dramatic. I saw a great post from Pete Souza. I think that's about Pete says his last. Oh my God. He was just, he just skewed him. Just roasted him. Yep. He's missing his, his easy hours and his big Paychecks from his podcast. That's what he's missing.
Alison Gill
Yes. And his fans, right? He had all these cult followers that were like, yeah, Epstein was murdered and we're going to get the real files because our guy Bongo Bongino is at the FBI.
Dana Goldberg
The case y.
Alison Gill
They're so mad. And he's very, very sad about it.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. And speaking of sad about stuff, this just actually makes me angry. This one's from the LGBTQ nation. Now, months after removing all the mentions of transgender people from its website for the Stonewall National Monument, the National Park Service, it has removed all mention of bisexual people too. Now, transgender journalist Aaron Reed, who is fantastic, noted that the Stonewall National Monument page once said, and I quote, before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or Queer, which is LGBTQ + person, was illegal. The newly revised version, it says, before the 1960s, almost everything about living authentically as a gay or lesbian person was illegal.
Alison Gill
Wow.
Dana Goldberg
Just erasure. Monuments, history and culture webpage. The statement declaring that Stonewall was a milestone for LGBTQ civil rights that provided momentum free movement now says Stonewall was a milestone for gay and lesbian civil rights. Additionally, this bullshit. The page said that that living, and I quote, Openly as an LGBTQ + person was a violation of law. Now what does it say? It says that living, quote, openly as a member of the Stonewall community was a violation of law.
Alison Gill
And by the way, they spelled community wrong.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
On the website.
Dana Goldberg
Yep, there's an M missing. Apparently they just take letters away wherever they want to. To be clear, no one, no one in the LGBTQ community has ever used the phrase the Stonewall community. It's a near meaningless phrase that obscures the historical persecution of people for their non heterosexual sexual orientations and their non cisgender gender identities and presentations. In response to these erasures, Reid wrote, and I quote, bisexual, transgender, and queer people were the forefront of the Stonewall movement. Though the language was still evolving, many of the patrons defied conventional categories of gender and sexuality, refusing to be neatly classified. Erasing them from Stonewall is not only historically false, it's a deliberate act of political revisionism. The recent removal of bisexual from official Pride histories is a warning. Attacks on transgender people will never stop with us. That's what Reid added. She went on to say, they are part of a broader effort to narrow the scope of who is allowed to belong, to be seen, and even to be remembered. In February, the NPS removed all mentions of transgender people from its website for the Stonewall national monument in order to comply with the president's executive orders prohibiting any federal recognition of trans people in any aspect of civic life. And I, I just imagine in the next few months, I wouldn't be surprised if these are just honoring the police that actually raided the bar. Like, this is getting ridiculous.
Alison Gill
I mean, just disappearing people one letter at a time.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Alison Gill
Trying to tear apart a community.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Alison Gill
Horrible. All right, next up from cbs, a U. S. Customs and border protection agent allegedly involved in the contentious arrest of a walmart employee in Pico Rivera has been charged with allegedly assaulting a Long beach police officer. On 7 July, the Los Angeles county district attorney's office charged agent isaiah Anthony Hodgson, 29 years old, with three felony counts of resisting an executive officer, one felony count of battery with injury on a peace officer, and he faces various misdemeanor charges involving carrying a loaded firearm. Hodgson has pled not guilty to all the charges. The DA's office further alleges that Hodgson, quote, engaged in violent conduct while committing the above offenses indicating a serious danger to society. So while at a Shoreline Village restaurant on July 7, Hodgson was allegedly off duty, intoxicated and armed with a handgun. To that, that's according to the DA's office. He's accused of going into the women's restroom where he approached a woman who saw his handgun and firearm magazine. He reportedly left the restaurant soon after the woman told the manager that he was armed and inside the woman's bathroom. The Long beach police department responded to the area after security guard outside the restaurant allegedly saw Hodgson holding a firearm magazine along with a firearm on his waistband. The security guard asked Hodgson to leave and told him that firearms are not allowed on the property. That's again according to the DA's office. Now, officers reportedly observed Hodgson intoxicated and said that as he was resisting arrest, he allegedly, quote, became agitated and physical with the officers and injured one of them, quote. When anyone comes to our community to break the law, they should be held accountable no matter who they work for. That's what Long beach mayor Rex Richardson said. This is indicative of a broader culture that should be addressed, that our community should be respected and protected. If convicted is charged, Hodgson faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.
Dana Goldberg
My goodness. This one is next. Up from the post. Federal immigration officers may deport immigrants to countries other than their own with as little as six hours notice. Even officials have not provided any assurances that the new arrivals will be safe from prosecution or torture. This is from a top official. This is what they said in a memo. Todd M. Lyons, the acting director of U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement, wrote in a memo to ICE Workforce Wednesday that a Supreme Court ruling last month had cleared the way for officers to, and I quote, immediately start sending immigrants to alternative countries. Now, people being sent to countries where officials have not provided any diplomatic assurances that immigrants will be safe will be informed 24 hours in advance and in exigent circumstances, just six hours, those being flown to places that have offered those assurances could be deported with no advance notice. If the State Department believes those assurances to be credible, then ICE may deport someone to that country without the need for further procedures. This is what Lyons wrote in the memo. This was obtained by the Washington Post. The United States has rarely deported people to countries where they are not citizens. And lawyers warn that thousands of longtime immigrants with work permits and families in the US could now be uprooted and sent to places where they lack family ties or even common language. This is just so inhumane, what is happening right now.
Alison Gill
Yeah. And all this sort of came to light in an Abrego hearing in the Abrego case last week with Judge Sinise. So we'll be following that for you. All right, next up from NBC, a cannabis farm worker who was critically injured during a chaotic immigration raid by federal authorities in Southern California died on Saturday. That's according to his family. James Alanis Garcia's death came days after he fell roughly 30ft during a raid by federal immigration authorities at Glass House Farms in Camarillo, California, a City about 50 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Garcia's family told NBC Los Angeles that he broke his neck and his skull in the fall and was placed on life support shortly afterward until his wife could travel from Mexico to be by his side before he died. The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately return a request for comment, but Tom Homan said on the Sunday shows that this is sad, but the ICE agents were, quote, just doing their jobs. Does that sound familiar?
Dana Goldberg
Awful. I know these stories go out to.
Alison Gill
This community and the families.
Dana Goldberg
I know, I know. And there's going to be so many more stories like this. We are so sorry. We are just delivering these things, but it is heartbreaking. This next one up is from the Post. Democratic lawmakers condemned an immigrant detention center built in Florida's Everglades as costly and inhumane on Saturday after touring the temporary facility. Now the site is dubbed Alligator Alcatraz. And the fucking governor, he thinks he's so proud of himself. What a douchebag. People are taking selfies in front of the sign. They're also the most horrible people on the planet anyway. The site is dubbed Alligator Alcatraz by Florida Republicans, open on July 3rd and is housing 900 men in South Florida wetlands. More than two dozen state and federal lawmakers took two and a half hour tour of the facility on Saturday arranged by DeSantis. Now, it came weeks after the several is that several Democratic state lawmakers were turned away at the gate. But Democrats said that they were given a sanitized version of the detention center which includes tents for detainees who are held in chain link cells and travel cubicles for staff. They said that they were not permitted to speak to the detainees and I quote, legislators were taken on a dog and pony show that confirmed our concerns about human rights violations and inhumane treatment and answered none of our questions. That's from state senate Democratic leader Laurie Berman said in a statement. Went on to say we certainly saw nothing that justifies the half a billion dollars that this camp is going to cost Floridians. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, she's a Democrat in Florida, said in an interview that the detainees appeared crowded into cages. She said there were eight cages of 32 detainees on either side, crammed in like sardines. The lawmakers were not permitted to take any electronics on the tour, but Wasserman Schultz said she took a thermometer. She said it was 83 degrees at threshold which is as far as they would let us go inside the tents. This is again from Wasserman Schultz. And she said, and I know it has to be even hotter in the middle of the tent. What are. I know what they're hiding and I'm going to say what are they hiding? It is just such.
Alison Gill
Yeah, I mean this is, this is a concentration camp.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
And it's the find it very interesting that they wouldn't let them to speak to any detainees because my understanding is 70 of them haven't committed any crimes and that there are actual U. S. Citizens being wrongfully detained there.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Alison Gill
So I have some better news on ice raids. I say better news because it's not quite good news. It comes from awful news, but it's better than it was, if that makes sense. A federal judge in California blocked the Trump administration on Friday from making indiscriminate immigration arrests in the Los Angeles area and from denying detainees the right to consult with an attorney. The two temporary restraining orders issued by the judge represented a sharp rebuke of tactics that federal agents have employed in and around Los Angeles during waves of Immigration raids that began last month. In the order, the judge, her name is Judge Frimpong of the US District Court for the Central District of California, directed agents to stop racial profiling in the course of seeking out immigrants and mandated that the federal government, which has deployed hundreds of agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other agencies in Los Angeles county, they must ensure detainees have access to legal counsel.
Dana Goldberg
Quote.
Alison Gill
What the federal government would have this court believe in the face of a mountain of evidence presented in this case is that none of this is actually happening. That's what the judge wrote of the tactics that she's barring in her order. She said that the roving patrols without reasonable suspicion violated the fourth Amendment of the Constitution and that denying access to lawyers violates the Fifth Amendment. During a hearing on Thursday, the judge was skeptical, that's putting it lightly, of the government's assertions that it was not violating the constitutional rights of people and that the agents were stopping immigrants based on the totality of circumstances rather than relying on race or language. In her 52 page ruling, Judge Frimpong said the government may not rely solely alone or in combination on race or ethnicity, on a person speaking Spanish or English with an accent, or on a person's presence at a particular location, such as a day laborer on an agricultural site or a type of work performed to establish reasonable suspicion to stop and detain people. And Tom Homan said on the news this weekend that they were racially profiling people and going after people for doing specific work and looking a specific way and speaking a specific language. So this judge has temporarily blocked that.
Dana Goldberg
So disgusting. I'm glad that the courts are doing something.
Alison Gill
Yeah, we'll see what the, this particular Supreme Court has to say about Trump's, you know, King powers when it comes to this shit. I just have no faith left in them.
Dana Goldberg
I'm also worried about the Maxwell case. I'm not going to lie.
Alison Gill
Yeah, me too. I'm interested to see what happens today, Monday. As you're listening to this, what is the Department of Justice going to do with Ghislaine Maxwell? All right, everybody, it's time for some good trouble.
Dana Goldberg
What are you guys doing?
Alison Gill
All right, you're good trouble today, should you choose to accept it. Grab your 5 calls app. Start thanking Dems for hammering on the Epstein files. Start thanking your Democratic representatives. If you have Republican representatives, ask them to do the same thing. I'm not quite sure where the Republicans are on this. I know where MAGA is. They're really mad and I'm hoping their Republican representatives start picking this up. Trump's base may move on from this in a couple of days. It might go away. It might not be anything, but it might not. It might be something. Like I said, their entire cult is based on these Epstein files over here on Earth One we've been asking for 10 years. What could possibly be their red line? This is it. This is it.
Dana Goldberg
I sure hope so.
Alison Gill
This is the thing that they're mad about. Nothing else but this. So additionally, do us one more good trouble today. If you could use that National Parks snitch link, the one that we shared a couple weeks ago for good trouble, we'll have that link in the show notes. Again. Use that National Parks link. Tell the government to restore transgender and bisexual and queer people to the Stonewall Monument.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Alison Gill

Hey everybody, let's be honest. The future of healthcare in this country doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Premiums are rising, deductibles are through the roof, and Big Pharma keeps raking in profits while regular folks struggle to afford the basics. At this point, the only smart strategy is prevention. Taking care of your health now is the best way to protect yourself later. That's why a recent study from the American Heart association caught my attention. They found that about 3 grams of omega 3s a day can help support healthy blood pressure. That made sense to me. But here's what I didn't realize. Not all Omega 3s are created equal that fish oil I'd been taking for years. Turns out it wasn't doing anything. But there's a better way. I made the switch to Native Path Antarctic krill oil. This stuff is different. Your body absorbs it better than regular fish oil, and it comes packaged with an antioxidant called astaxanthin. It helps protect your cells at very small, tiny levels. And the benefits go way beyond just heart health. Since I started taking it, I've noticed less stiffness in the morning in my joints. They feel more comfor comfortable and my focus has actually improved. It's like my body is working a little more smoothly. I don't trust the system to keep me healthy, but I trust Native Path to help me stay ahead of the curve. So why wait? This is a simple, smart way to take care of yourself. Now as a Daily Beans listener, go to nativekrill.com dailybeans to get up to 66% off free shipping and a 365 day money back feel good guarantee. But this special offer is only available@nativekrill.com DailyBeans that's nativekrill.com DailyBeans thanks to Native Path Krill Oil for sponsoring this episode. Everybody, welcome back. It's time for the good news.

If you don't have that, you can send Just grab any random photo of an animal off the Internet. Seriously. Anything. It will work.
Dana Goldberg
Anything counts. Hi. Any baby animals?
Alison Gill
Yes, I love baby animals too. And speaking of babies, send your baby photos if you don't have any any animal photos please. Or your family photos, awkward family photos, your happy place photos, photos of signs or rallies or great, you know, community actions that you've been to. We would love to hear about that and share that enthusiasm. Send it all to us. Oh, we also do bird watching, which can be a bird, or you and your family and friends flipping the bird to trump and musk properties or photos of Trump on the television or anything. Anything like that. Flipping the bird counts as bird watching. Send it to us@dailybeanspot.com and click on Contact. First up from Charlotte Pronouns she and her I love the name Charlotte. Hi Beans, Queens. I'm a fairly new listener. Welcome. I found you not too long ago after the inauguration and you've been a breath of fresh air. Life since the election has been hard. Often I find myself crushed by the weight of what's happening to our country. I've even tried convincing my husband to move to a state that aligns with our political beliefs. So far he's declined for many reasons, but I still persist. Living in Wyoming, it is hard to find like minded people. But they're out there where you least expect it. You will find them. My favorite day of the year is the yearly Hot Air Balloon festival in Casper, Wyoming. Isn't there a big one in New Mexico too, where you're from?
Dana Goldberg
There sure is.
Alison Gill
Saturday morning the last balloon launched to cheering crowds and was off the ground when the pilot stretched out his arms and yelled Viva La Resistance.
Dana Goldberg
Nice.
Alison Gill
It buoyed me in ways I can't describe. Yes. Hell yes. Even in Ruby Red Wyoming. Viva la Resistance. Resistance can be found in many places and in many ways. Thank you for all you do to encourage the resistance, no matter how big or small. I've included a screenshot of the video I was lucky enough to catch. I've watched it exactly 73 times since Saturday morning and I will watch it every time. I feel overwhelmed by what's happening in our country in my state than in my city. For my pod pet tariff, I've included pictures of our dogs Paulie the Terrorist, a Blue Heeler mix, and Brinny the Pooh. Brinny the Pooh, an aging pity. And I can't leave out the Alpha, Timothy the cat who is much too dignified for a silly name. Timothy Fever La Resistance.
Dana Goldberg
Nice.
Alison Gill
Look at this. Amazing.
Dana Goldberg
So sweet.
Alison Gill
Oh, I love that.
Dana Goldberg
I love that.
Alison Gill
Charlotte, check out your Trouble Nation, your Red Wine and blue. See if you have a group out where you are.
Dana Goldberg
Oh yeah, yeah. Great idea. This next one's from David Pronounce he and him Good morning with the beans, especially if they're coffee beans. Honestly, what a great way to start any day at this point. I guess I'm a longtime listener. I never expected this idiocracy to continue. But thank you always for the laughter. Even if you just a really good laughter sandwich with a bunch of shitty ingredients in the middle. Awesome. Well, okay, so this proud American dad, veteran voter, blue naturally, who lives in midtown Tulsa, a blue oasis, mostly in a very red state, would like to send a shout out to my very best friend. We do crosswords, crypto quotes, wordle daily by the way. Always solving from different angles but always sharing our logic with each other when we solve it. Well, my best friend is also my wife. I love her. I swear I loved her brain before. I loved how beautiful she is. And did I mention that she's kind of amazing? Wonderful human. I dropped her off at the airport this morning so that she could visit and help one of her flock of friends who just underwent a very painful knee replacement. She packed her bags, her laptop and a few comfy things and headed off to Minnesota so that she could remotely work while personally doing whatever she could do to help. She's amazing. Lisa has also left me in charge of our fur babies. Some you may have seen from her posts. Here they are for your entertainment and mine. Laughter Calvin the Tuxi Hobbs, the Golden Fluff Nugget, JLo, our crooning mix of sweetness and Lachlan Foster, who sadly and suddenly crossed the bridge last month. We love you. I have 10,000 pictures. Could only download three.
Alison Gill
Oh, look at these beautiful babies.
Dana Goldberg
Very beautiful brood there you got. Got a good crew there.
Alison Gill
Yeah, sorry for your loss too. And shout out to your wonderful wife. What a great person, what a great cup. I love. I love these two. Thank you so much for this. Next up from Anonymous. Oh my God, this cat. No pronouns given confession. I nominated AG for San Diego magazine celebrating women 2025 awards as a pioneer in media. I hope more local San Diegans recognize her contribution to the national conversation. I hope you're okay with the photo I submitted from behind the stage at the no Kings rally in Waterfront Park. I felt it best expressed your combat boots on the ground approach to your work. Thanks for being my local hero. Podpet tax is my Lucy who crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago. This is the only photo I was ever able to capture her of her little tongue hanging out after a thorough bath. She still visits me in that space between wake and dream. What magic. Anonymous. Thank you, San Diego magazine celebrating women. Did you know I've been nominated for that before For San Diego.
Dana Goldberg
That's awesome.
Alison Gill
So this is amazing. I'm really touched.
Dana Goldberg
Well deserved, my friend. This next one's from Katie Pronouns. She and her dearest gentle readers, my bean besties. I did a thing accidentally, but I did it. The local water park Had a sensory friendly splash night once a month and my autistic son lives for it. Last year I laminated some communication boards I made and dropped them off off in the lifeguard office. My kid is mostly non speaking and has learned to use it and loves to use it to talk about the water park. To my bewilderment, there's a large communication board permanently mounted to the fence. This summer, I'm so happy they've gone an additional step toward inclusion. I've included a photo of it here along with my pot pet tariff. She doesn't technically live with us, but my kids named this deer Mabel. She got two babies and they visit us so frequently that my plants are reduced to little nubs. But we love her. And Millie tolerated the overgrown hostess.
Alison Gill
Oh my gosh.
Dana Goldberg
How cool is this?
Alison Gill
Really cool.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God, look at that. Ring, camera, picture. What? Or whatever it is. That's fantastic.
Alison Gill
It's a Bambi and his mom.
Dana Goldberg
So good.
Alison Gill
Oh, I love that they put this communication board up. Katie. That's so very cool. And I love the idea of a sensory friendly splash night once a month at a water park. How awesome. All right, next up from Rick Pronouns, he and him.
Dana Goldberg
Hey, y'. All.
Alison Gill
I'm in Chicago for a designer art toy show. I happen to pass by a certain tower and leave some free stickers for anyone to have and and do what they will with. So these are public urinal stickers. Oh, my God.
Dana Goldberg
That's funny.
Alison Gill
You could put them on the front of Trump Tower.
Dana Goldberg
That's awesome.
Alison Gill
And there's a great bird watching photo as well. Thank you. Thank you for that, Rick. I love it. Thanks for all of your good news. Like I said, please, we need it. Send it to us. Dana, I'm so glad you're back. I missed you so much, my friend.
Dana Goldberg
I am too. I missed you. And I just want to thank everyone for putting up with my flubs and my weird voice. I don't know what's going on today. I think it's just all the travel and the flights and the boat throat is what they call it with the air conditioning and then the heat and my God, it was blazing hot.
Alison Gill
Oh, yeah. Was it?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Oh, it was awful for about. About 6, 7, 8 days of the trip. But, you know, it's Europe. You know, I was thinking about this while I was gone. I have to say. I guess these are my final thoughts for today. But there was a calmness of leaving the United States. And I love my country. I'm grateful I was born here. I'm proud to be an American. I feel like I've done a lot for this country to make it better. And I surround myself with people that do as well. But there was a calmness and a exhalation. And when I left the United States and being in Europe and just like not having to worry about World War Three or him doing something stupid that was going to kill everyone that day. Like, I know I'm. And that sounds like I'm being dramatic, but it was just there was a peace in it. And then walking through the streets of Rome and there's these, you know, not courtyards, but just like literally concrete areas with steps on them where people are playing music and dancing and everyone's just sitting out there talking and enjoying the heat and, you know, everyone's eating outside at the restaurants. The only other place in the United States that I've really experienced that is the Village in New York. And that's what it feels like where they're, you know, Washington Square park and, you know, even the other parks in New York. And I guess that's what I would love to know, like, not to start a new game on here, but tell. I would love to know about community, things that are in your city that you really do see that the, the, the community, the joy and the aliveness that is still there despite all of the bullshit that's going on right now.
Alison Gill
Yeah, I love it. And if you want to send that in or if you want to send in any good news, Like I said, DailyBeansPod.com click on Contact. We're going to be back in your ears tomorrow. There's a brand new episode out right now of Unjustified. You need to check out if you haven't. And I really, really appreciate everybody listening. And welcome to all our new listeners. And again, Dana, I'm just so glad you're back. Back, so.
Dana Goldberg
Me too.
Alison Gill
All right, we'll be in in your ears tomorrow. Until then, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health and take care of your family. I've been ag.
Dana Goldberg
I've been dg.

Description: The Daily Beans is a women-owned progressive news podcast delivering social justice and political news with a touch of snark, hosted by Allison Gill and Dana Goldberg.
The episode opens with a deep dive into the escalating crisis surrounding the Epstein files, highlighting the significant blow to former President Donald Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Host Allison Gill discusses how Trump and Bondi have lost control over the narrative surrounding the Epstein files:
“Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have lost control of the Epstein files narrative” (00:00).
Dana Goldberg adds that Bondi initially claimed the files were on her desk but the situation quickly deteriorated:
“After Pam Bondi said the files were on her desk, she told reporters, they're on my desk, and I'm going to review them” (03:07).
Notably, Pam Bondi's handling of the Epstein files has sparked outrage within the MAGA base and led to internal conflicts, including Deputy Director Dan Bongino considering leaving his position after clashing with Bondi.
A significant portion of the episode addresses the Trump administration's decision to lay off over 1,300 State Department employees, aiming to reduce the workforce by approximately 15%.
Democratic senators have condemned this move, emphasizing that reducing the diplomatic corps undermines U.S. foreign policy and national security.
The podcast critiques FEMA's inadequate response to the devastating floods in Central Texas, where over 120 lives were lost.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem dismissed the criticism as “fake news,” further enraging affected communities.
Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the dismissal of criminal charges against Dr. Michael Kirk Moore, accused of distributing fake COVID-19 vaccine cards.
This move has raised concerns about political interference within the Justice Department, especially amid the ongoing Epstein files controversy.
The National Park Service (NPS) has removed mentions of bisexual and transgender individuals from the Stonewall National Monument's official webpage, sparking outrage within the LGBTQ+ community.
This erasure reflects a broader effort to narrow the recognition of LGBTQ+ identities, ignoring the crucial roles bisexual and transgender individuals played in the Stonewall movement.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, Isaiah Anthony Hodgson, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly assaulting a Long Beach police officer during an off-duty incident.
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson condemned the actions, stating, “When anyone comes to our community to break the law, they should be held accountable no matter who they work for” (23:02).
A recent memo from ICE outlines plans to deport immigrants to third countries with as little as six hours' notice, raising serious concerns about human rights and due process.
This policy shift risks uprooting thousands of longtime immigrants, including those with work permits and established family ties in the U.S.
James Alanis Garcia, a cannabis farm worker, tragically died after falling approximately 30 feet during an ICE raid in Camarillo, California.
FEMA's sluggish response to the Texas floods mirrors the broader incompetence critiqued earlier.
Democratic lawmakers toured a new immigrant detention center in Florida's Everglades, dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz," criticizing its inhumane conditions and exorbitant costs.
Lawmakers reported overcrowded conditions and inadequate facilities, questioning the half a billion-dollar expenditure justified by Governor DeSantis.
A federal judge in California issued temporary restraining orders against the Trump administration's ICE practices, halting indiscriminate immigration arrests and denying detainees access to legal counsel.
The judge criticized the use of race, ethnicity, and language as bases for immigration stops, affirming the violations of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments.
The hosts emphasize the need for listener engagement to address these pressing issues:
Allison Gill urges listeners to contact their Democratic representatives to support the demand for transparency regarding the Epstein files.
“Grab your calls app. Start thanking Dems for hammering on the Epstein files” (31:00).
They also call for action to restore bisexual and transgender inclusions in the Stonewall Monument, reflecting ongoing battles for LGBTQ+ recognition and rights.
Allison Gill (00:00):
“Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have lost control of the Epstein files narrative.”
Dana Goldberg (03:07):
“After Pam Bondi said the files were on her desk, she told reporters, they're on my desk, and I'm going to review them.”
Allison Gill (13:56):
“This administration should be strengthening our diplomatic core, an irreplaceable instrument of US Power and leadership, not weakening it.”
Dana Goldberg (18:55):
“Erasing them from Stonewall is not only historically false, it's a deliberate act of political revisionism.”
Allison Gill (28:04):
“The government may not rely solely on race or ethnicity to stop and detain people.”
"Cracks In The Cult" highlights multiple fractures within the current political and social landscape, from the mishandling of sensitive files and humanitarian crises to discriminatory policies and law enforcement misconduct. The episode underscores the importance of accountability, transparency, and active listener participation in advocating for justice and equity.
