Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Monday, March 9, 2026. Today, Kristi Noem is out as Homeland Security secretary and Trump has nominated Republican Senator Mark Wayne Mullen to replace her. Republican Representative Tony Gonzalez has dropped out of his race amid a House ethics probe into his affair with a staffer. Trump is adding anti trans provisions to the SAVE Act. The president has privately shown interest in boots on the ground in Iran. The US economy lost 92,000 jobs in February. A New York Times analysis shows a school was hit amid US Strikes in Iran. A US Appeals court rules that Trump cannot end temporary protected status for 350,000 Haitians. A judge rules that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis can't designate a Muslim group domestic terrorists. And the plaque honoring the Capitol Police for their sacrifice on January 6th has finally been installed at the Capitol. I'm Alison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Alison Gill
So just a few things happening over the weekend.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, not much news. Yeah, that seemed like one of our longer intros as of late. Allison Gill, Dana Goldman. Spending time with you Thursday night at the GLAAD Awards was like a highlight. A highlight of my week. First of all, I mean, it was so, so nice to be there with you. I was so proud of this podcast and you and this community. And it was awesome. It was awesome. Did you have fun? I know that was a different sort of event for you.
Alison Gill
I had an amazing time and I have to thank you for Your red carpet experience, because I was a deer in headlights. That was like. Now you even told me that that was, like, the longest, craziest red carpet you've ever been.
Dana Goldberg
The longest, craziest for sure. But I know you think that, and I've got to send a clip to you. I don't know if you saw it on social media. One of the press outlets put a clip of us on Instagram. I think it's the LGBT Q Hollywood Times. You were fantastic. You don't give yourself enough credit. You were wonderful. You were wonderful. You looked beautiful. Everyone was super complimentary, and we just. I mean. And by the way, for the people listening, there was a. At the beginning of the show, they were like, there's an icon at the end of the program. Please don't leave. And everyone's like, who could it be? Who could it be? And even Alison and I were pontificating. We're like, maybe it's blah, blah, blah. Maybe it's Gaga.
Alison Gill
Someone else. Donna, who is it?
Dana Goldberg
And then this group of people with a black curtain at the end of the program were moving someone through the ballroom very secretively. And then this music and a montage started, and it was. It was fucking Liza Minnelli.
Alison Gill
Oh, my God. It was. I was. I felt like I was at the wedding in Sex and the City, too. All of a sudden. It was. It was just. Oh, my God. Everything about that night was immensely beautiful and insanely representative and just. And I just want to thank glaad. Yeah. Helping to ensure that the LGBTQ community is represented in media. I got to meet Jonathan Capehart.
Dana Goldberg
He's the sweetest. He's just the sweetest. The whole team from the weekend on msnow was fantastic. Yeah.
Alison Gill
And the I've had it podcast.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God.
Alison Gill
Meaning Jennifer and Angie, they won an award. Yeah.
Dana Goldberg
Both of us. I mean, it was definitely a moment for both of us because we respect them so much. Like, we fangirled beyond. And I guess I'm bearing the lead. Alison and I did not win for best podcast. The Daily Beans did not win, but we lost to the handsome podcast. I mean, come on. Fortune, Feimster, Tig, Notaro, Mae Martin. We get it. And we are winners. We all are winners. We have an incredible community. We built an incredible community. We change lives. We give people a home that they can come to, to listen to the news and feel represented, and I'm proud of it. So I don't necessarily need a trophy sitting on my man to prove that I've got this right. Here.
Alison Gill
No.
Dana Goldberg
Also, I don't have a mantel. I live in an apartment, and there's no fireplace.
Alison Gill
I don't have a mantle.
Dana Goldberg
Yes.
Alison Gill
My awards cabinet is very sad that it doesn't have a cloud. No. But just to be nominated alongside Tig Notaro, Fortune Feibster May Martin, all of the other incredible podcasts, I was like, honestly, it is the honor of a lifetime to lose to the handsome podcast.
Dana Goldberg
Totally.
Alison Gill
I think I said that to you on social media, but just to be there and to be among just in that room was really, really special. We got to meet under the desk News. Who you. You've known for a while. They won.
Dana Goldberg
I've been friends with V. Yeah. V1 for their independent journalism and just an incredible human. Yeah, it was just great. It was great. It was a nice palette cleanser for all the nonsense that's going on in the world. It was a really affirming, lovely room.
Alison Gill
Yeah. And I love when Tig walked by us and you were like, oh, and you hug because, you know, I know you've seen her at some other events, and I'm like, congrat. I reached my head out. Congratulations. Tig's like, who are. Who's this? But was very gracious, shook my hand, thanked me. But you see. Yeah. I mean, the whole night, I'm just like, introducing myself as Allison. And then, like, Jess would pop in and be like, Mueller. She wrote. And everyone would go, oh, yeah. So I.
Dana Goldberg
They were like, you had a pseudonym for so long.
Alison Gill
Yeah, because I had to be secret when I was doing that first podcast. But I think I just need to introduce myself as Muller. She wrote from here on out.
Dana Goldberg
There you go. That's what you do. We are.
Alison Gill
But just a fantastic time. Thanks to the Lagunati for we wouldn't be there if it weren't for you. And not at all super happy. We could share that whole night. And you can check out DG Comedy at Instagram or Dana on Facebook or go to danagoldberg.com, see all of our pictures. You can also see some on mine. And also, you're going to talk about this a little bit later. Somebody else finally got their award. The January 6th plaque has finally been installed. Capitol. Three years later, they had to roll it out of the basement. It was in a bunch of plywood and. And affix it to a wall there near the west tunnel where most of the violence happened. So I just was thinking of Harry Dunn today. And Harry and I are going to talk about that on the cleanup podcast. And you're going to talk about it later as well in the news block, which we should get to, but we need to take a quick break first, so everybody stick around. We'll be right back after these messages.
Dana Goldberg
We'll be right back.
Alison Gill

All right, first up from NBC, President Trump fired Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday in the red carpet line. We got to talk to Reuters, and Reuters was like, oh, you guys do the news. What do you think about Kristi Noem? And I think we just sang the Na Na Na hey hey goodbye song to Reuters that up.
Dana Goldberg
It was perfect.
Alison Gill
But that makes her the first cabinet secretary to leave her post. And capping off a tumultuous year in which she oversaw his increasingly unpopular mass deportation agenda. Alongside the announcement of Nome's ouster, Trump said he would tap Senator Mark Wayne Mullen, Republican from Oklahoma, to replace her. Somebody on social media said he can't even secure a border between his first name, which I thought was really funny, but he's elevating this loyal first term senator. Another great observation was this simultaneously makes Trump's Cabinet smarter and the Senate smarter because because Trump's cabinet is so dumb, Mark Wayne Mullins somehow elevates it. But also the Senate just got smarter. Trump added Gnome, who has said Noam has served us well, will take over a new role called Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
Dana Goldberg
That's a made up thing, everybody. That doesn't exist. It's a made up thing.
Alison Gill
It sounds like he just watched Avengers and just came up with it or something.
Dana Goldberg
Envoy for the Shield of the Americas.
Alison Gill
Now, he described the position as one that will lead our security initiative in the Western hemisphere, which is colonial af, by the way, and should scare everyone because Lindsey Graham, and we'll talk about this on Beans Talk, was on the Sunday shows, like, yeah, we're going to do a whole thing. We're going to blow the hell out of the people of Iran. And then Cuba, you're next. And he pulls up a hat with a Cuba thing on it. Like, it's just, it's so dangerous and scary. Corey Lewandowski also out owt yesterday's news.
Dana Goldberg
I like that they're calling him a close aid. Very, very biblically close aid.
Alison Gill
Yeah. And there's. And it says here he's expected to leave dhs. He was never technically there. Yeah, he was just there with her on the fuck jet. Which is what I'm calling, is what I'm calling the private equal chat because somebody said that on social media. Hats off, hat tip to whoever that was. Ali Windowski, who was one of the first staff members on Trump's 2016 campaign for president, faced scrutiny from lawmakers over his role at the department, which was fuck buddy. Including over whether he had the power to approve grants and contracts. In congressional hearings this week, Noem, who is married, faced questions about her personal relationship with her husband. Right behind her, by the way. Now, Mullen, a former MMA fighter. I like how that's his first credit. Served for a decade in the House before he won a 2022 special election to the Senate. If he's confirmed as DHS secretary, which I think he will be, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt would be required to choose another Republican to fill the vacancy until the November midterm elections. But because Mullen's Senate term expires this year, state law notes there won't be a special election to replace him. They'll just stit. We'll just shove a Republican in there.
Dana Goldberg
Got it. And there were some requests on social media and I think we should do this. It's not Mark Wayne. We're calling him Marquane.
Alison Gill
Oh, Marquane.
Dana Goldberg
M a R with a Q. Mark Twain. As if it was a great drag name, but that's gonna. I think it's gonna really bother him. What's up? Mark Twain. Yeah, right, Exactly. So it's Mark Twain. Here we go. Yeah. This one's from NBC. Rep. Tony Gonzalez, that Republican from Texas. We've covered this story about this rep for few episodes. Now announced Thursday night he's dropping his bid for reelection, but he's going to serve out the rest of his term in Congress following a tumultuous, is what they're calling it, set of weeks for the congressman. Yeah. Who admitted having an affair with a woman, an aide who later died by suicide. At least they're saying it was suicide. National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Richard Hudson, he's Republican from North Carolina, echoed the statement saying, and I quote, tony should withdraw from the runoff and allow the ethics process to move forward while focusing on his family and serving his constituents for the remainder of his term. The House Ethics Committee announced Wednesday that it would open an investigation that's so interesting that the House Ethics Committee seems to be able to do a job with a Republican in Texas that's just running for Congress but can't do their fucking job when it comes to the President of the United States.
Alison Gill
It's echoes of Matt Gaetz, right?
Dana Goldberg
Yes, indeed. A different body, the Office of Congressional Conduct, led an investigation into Gonzalez, and its results were set to be delivered to the Ethics Committee on Wednesday. The office could not send the results earlier because the investigation was complet within 60 days of Gonzalez's primary in Texas. Now, whether or not the results of the Act 6 committee probe will be published will come down to when it's completed. The committee investigates only sitting lawmakers, so the investigation could come to an abrupt halt if he is still underway when Gonzalez's term ends. Oh, okay, that's obviously very convenient. Then all of a sudden, I think this happened with. Was it Cawthorn, Someone that was under some sort of ethics. Maybe it was actually Matt Gaetz that they, you know, he left Congress and all of a sud. The investigation just disappeared. So that's nice. This guy leaves and we don't get the results of the investigation and then he withdraws from his race so Republicans don't have to go through the expensive runoff election for his seat. But then he stays in Congress the rest of his term so Mike Johnson can keep his razor thin majority. All that sounds like bullshit.
Alison Gill
Very convenient. And can we please get rid of this? 60 days before an election. You can't have any investigation into you both in the Congress and at the Department of Justice. Can we just fucking shit can that. That. Because if. If an investigation shows that somebody running for Congress, you know, did what Gonzalez did or Matt Gaetz did, you know, or anybody. Scott Perry, who, who was being investigated by Merrick Garland back, you know, but it was 60 days within a primary. We should know about it. Especially if it's within 60 days of a primary.
Dana Goldberg
A hundred percent.
Alison Gill
Can we shit can that, please? I know you're like, we don't want to be very political. Fuck that. I'm done with that. Be political.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, no kidding.
Alison Gill
Ugh. It's so stupid. Also from NBC, the US shed 92,000 jobs in February. And previous months of job growth were not as strong as previously reported, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which they announced on Friday in a report that will raise alarms about the state of the economy. By the way, the stock market is tanking. We're well under like 50,000 now. So when Pam Bondi comes before Congress, we should point that out. We're not at 50,000 at the Dow anymore, so you should answer these questions.
Dana Goldberg
That's right.
Alison Gill
The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4%, little change from January's report. Economists expected to add 50,000 jobs. They lost 92,000. That's insane.
Dana Goldberg
That feels like bad math.
Alison Gill
God. It also revised down January's previously stellar payroll figure from 130. That's stellar. 130,000. That was a bad month for Biden. Yeah, but it Revised down to 126. 126,000. The agency also cut December's figure from 50,000 added jobs to 17,000 jobs lost in December. With those revisions, 2025 was the first year to record five months of labor market contractions. Job loss since 2010. As we were recovering from the global financial crisis. Quote, well, that was ugly, wrote Mark Hamrick, senior economic analyst. Analyzed Mark at the financial publishing company Bankrate. That's what he wrote in a note after Friday's data release. Well, that was ugly. Yeah, you might. You might say that.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, God, what a mess. This next one's from democracy docket. The White House confirmed Friday that Trump is pressing Congress to add new provisions targeting transgender people in the Save America Act. And this is a sweeping anti voting bill that could disenfranchise millions. And I need to say something before I go on with the rest of this story. Laverne Cox gave a speech at the GLAD Awards.
Alison Gill
Oh, man.
Dana Goldberg
There is a genocide building against the trans community. And we're not using that word flippantly. They're dehumanizing the trans non binary community step by step dismantling their humanity. This is not us getting hysterical. This is not us overreacting. This is the time to stop this bullshit. Because they started with sports and they started with bathrooms. And it was a litmus test to see how far they could go to dehumanize a minority group of people to see if there was outrage. And when there was an outrage, they continue to go further. Let's take away their healthcare. Let's take away their driver's licenses. Let's take away their right to vote. Do you all see what's happening? No matter where you stand with the sports issue, I need you to fight for the trans and non binary community like they are one of your own. They will not stop with them. We have seen where this has gone in the past, in history, and this is how everything began before. I know people don't like when we make comparisons to things like the Holocaust, but when you dehumanize a group of people, this is how things like this start. I'm not saying we're there. This is how it starts.
Alison Gill
They began with the LGBTQ community in the 30s in Germany.
Dana Goldberg
They did. They burned the libraries. They burned all of the information that they had done on research. They burned the arts, they burned all of these things. So as we start this story, I'm getting off my soapbox, but I really need this community who believes in supporting and protecting the trans and non binary community to get fucking loud. It is time to get loud. Yeah.
Alison Gill
And vote for candidates who also will protect the community members. Yes.
Dana Goldberg
Yes. Yes. Now, the proposed additions, along with provision banning no excuse mail voting, were not included in legislation in the House narrowly passed last month. Trump appears to be using this cultural War issue, which are very popular among Republican voters, to increase the pressure on Republican lawmakers to back the bill more and more. No, this isn't working. It's not as popular with Republican voters as they think. They're starting to understand that this was a fair tactic and what really matters to them is the cost of groceries and the cost of gas and the fact that they have health insurance.
Alison Gill
We saw this in Montana, led by Zoe Zephyr.
Dana Goldberg
Absolutely. Well, House press secretary Caroline Levitt, who lies every time her lips move, said during a press briefing that Trump recently added new demands to the anti voting legislation, which already faced steep odds in the Senate. And I quote, this is a huge priority for the President. He added on some priorities to Save America act in recent days, namely no transgender transition surgeries for minors. We're not going to tolerate the mutilation of young children in this country. Well then stop doing it on CIS and Intersect kids. How about we start there? Went on to say no men in women's sports. Fuck off. The president putting all of these priorities together speaks on how common sense they are. No, they're not. The comments mark the first time the White House has publicly confirmed that Trump is pushing to attach anti transgender policy to the Save America Act. In recent True Social post earlier this week, which is really interesting, Trump wrote that the legislation includes no mail in ballots except for illness, disability, military or traffic. No men and women's sports, no transgender mutilation surgery for children. That's not what the original post said, by the way. The original post said without parental permission and then everyone lost their fucking mind on his side and he took it down. Now an earlier version, as I said, Trump's post included language regarding parental consent for transition surgeries. But after backlash from far right activists, he deleted the post and republished a version removing the parental consent clause.
Alison Gill
Boy, he can just be moved by the wind to genocide a whole group of people, can't he?
Dana Goldberg
Yep. The bill passed in the House last month. It would require people registering to vote in federal elections, to provide documentary proof of US Citizenship and show photo ID in person. It would also mandate routine voter purges if the Senate were to amend the bill to include the mail voting ban and the anti trans provisions, the measure would have to return to the House for another vote, a potentially difficult hurdle giving the narrow margin by which it passed initially. Even without those additions, the bill faces long odds in the Senate, where Most legislation requires 60 votes to pass and where Democrats have vowed to block it. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, the Republican from South Dakota has so far declined to support changing the filibuster rules to pass the Save America Act.
Alison Gill
Yeah, and by the way, it was initially called the SAVE act, and they changed it to Save America so that they can throw these BS provisions into it. All right, next up from The Times, the Feb. 28 strike that hit an elementary school in a southern Iranian town called Manab is the deadliest known episode of civilian casualties since the United States and Israel attacked Iran. And no side has yet taken responsibility. But a body of evidence assembled by the New York Times, including newly released satellite imagery, social media posts, and verified videos, indicates the school building was severely damaged by a precision strong strike that occurred at the same time as attacks on adjacent naval bases operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. So you'll remember when this story came out and we were like, that's. It's. This is a story from Iranian state media. Now the New York Times is saying it is very likely that this was a precision strike by the US Yeah, probably operating off of old maps or maybe because of AI. They got it right. Wrong. The story goes on. And official statements that US Forces were attacking naval targets near the Strait of Hormuz where the IRGC base is located suggest they were most likely to have carried out the strike. To more fully assess the damage inside the base and what might have caused it, the Times ordered new satellite imagery from the provider Planet Labs. An image taken on Wednesday further corroborated the chronology. The imagery shows that multiple precision strikes hit at least six Revolutionary Guards buildings along with the school. Four buildings inside the naval base were completely destroyed, and two other buildings showed impact points at the center of their roofs consistent with such precision hits.
Dana Goldberg
Thank you so much, AG. This one is from NBC. Trump has privately expressed serious interest in deploying U.S. troops on the ground inside Iran, according to two U.S. officials. This is from a former U.S. official and another person who have knowledge of the conversations. Trump has discussed the idea of deploying ground troops with aides and Republican officials outside the White House while outlining his vision for. For a post war Iran. Really? What is your fucking vision for that? In which Iran's uranium is secure and US And a new Iranian regime cooperate on oil production, similar to how the US And Venezuela are. I'm sorry, how the US and Venezuela are cooperating. You went in and kidnapped their president, stole the oil and put it in the money in a fucking offshore account, okay? The President's comments expressing serious interest in deploying ground troops. Troops have not focused on a large scale ground invasion of Iran. But rather the an idea of a small contingent of U.S. troops that would be used for specific strategic purposes. This is from the US Officials. This is what the former US Official and the person known with the discussion said. They said Trump has not made any decisions or given any orders related to any ground troops. Publicly. Trump has not ruled out putting US Boots on the ground in Iran. Though the war has so far consisted only of air campaign, his private discussions about the idea show a president perhaps more willing to consider taking such a step than his. Public comments on the issue so far have suggested. Any deployment of American troops inside of Iran could increase the scale of the scope of the war and escalate the risk to American forces. Since the war began on Saturday, six US service members have been killed and 18 wounded in counterattacks in Iran. And this is according to the Pentagon.
Alison Gill
Yeah, now I have some better news. This is from Reuters. A divided U.S. appeals court 2 to 1 has refused to let the Trump administration revoke legal protections that would allow more than 350,000 Haitians to live and work in the US and avoid being returned to their gang violence stricken country. A 2 to 1 panel, the U.S. court of Appeals for D.C. late on Friday rejected the administration's bid to pause a Feb. 2 ruling that blocked the U.S. department of Homeland Security from ending Haiti's temporary protected status. So this is again, I mean, and it's Good news, but 350,000 people, their lives are up in the air. It's like the daca. It's like our dreamers. Yeah, right. Constantly wondering and worrying. I mean, that stress and that trauma has to be enduring and generational and just really, really, you know, I can't imagine. Yeah.
Dana Goldberg
And I do have a little more Good news from NBC. A federal judge on Wednesday blocked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is ordered to classify a prominent Muslim civil rights group as a terrorist organization, calling the republic, and I quote a political statement at the expense of others constitutional rights. Well said. U.S. district Judge Mark Walker issued a preliminary injunction against the governor's actions related to the Council on American Islamic relations, or CARE. CAIR DeSantis issued an executive order on December 8 calling CAIR a terrorist organization which prevented the organization from receiving any contract, employment funds or other benefit of privilege. Now this is the quote, the First Amendment bars the government from continuing the troubling trend of using an executive office to make a political statement at the expense of others constitutional rights. This is from the judge, Judge Walker. The governor's decree coerces third parties under threats of losing government benefits to disassociate from the Council on American Islamic relations. That's CAIR. Thereby closing avenues of expression and suppressing CAIR's protected speech. The judge cited President George Washington's fame 1790 letter to the Hebrew congregation in Rhode island as the bedrock for American safeguards of religious minorities. And he said, quote, the Constitution protects plaintiff speech just as it protects any other organization's lawful speech from suppression by governmental coercion of third parties. So. Well said, Judge.
Alison Gill
We'll see if that holds up. Right?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Yeah. Because you know. Yeah. What they're going to. What is it called when they're mad and they want a different response?
Alison Gill
It's not judge shopping. Right.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
Well, they'll eventually head up to the Supreme Court, but we'll follow that case as well. All right, everybody, we've got good news to get to, but we have to take another break. Stick around. We'll be right back. So have you heard that Fast Growing Trees is America's largest and most trusted online nursery with thousands of trees and plants and over 2 million happy customers? Thanks for keeping us informed with the right amount of profanity. Humanity. Listening to your podcast makes me feel less alone in this absolutely ridiculous timeline. There is currently a law being proposed where the Department of Justice would be able to interfere with bar Associations investigations into lawyers misconduct. As we all know, it would be complete to have this current DOJ or anyone in this administration police themselves. The comment period is available until April 6th. A shout out to Liz Oyer for putting out the call to action. Liz Oyer is the former pardon attorney attorney under Biden. So we'll have a link in the show notes to the regulations.gov page for you to leave a comment and we'll include a link to a sample objection template that the Leguminati can use or feel free to give them a piece of your own mind. Now for my tariff, here are some baby and mama otters. Look at them doing pleasure. Look at the mama. Look.
Dana Goldberg
Look at my baby. Look at my baby. Look at my baby. Oh, and then just the way the mama otters hold their baby while they're floating in the water for weeks, months, y'. All.
Alison Gill
I cannot explain how much Dana loves otters, especially mama and baby otters. I can't explain it. It's a deep, deep appreciation.
Dana Goldberg
It's a deep appreciation. It is. And speaking of deep appreciation, this is from Rachel Pronounci and her hi again. I'm writing in to answer about the Irish dancer's feet on the podium. Yes, my kiddo in first place spot was standing in first position. Good eye, dg. The other kids were standing in first. Fifth. There are no rules in the boxes, but the teachers always remind the dancers to stand like a dancer, generally in first or fifth because second and fourth positions have their feet apart, which is not great for podium standing. And third is sort of a modified fifth. I don't think they use it much in Irish. Very cool. Thank you so much for that.
Alison Gill
All right, next up, Donna Pronoun. She and her congratulations to Harry Dunn and all of the other officers for finally getting their plaque installed, albeit many years too Too late and done at 4am I guess so there wouldn't be a lot of fanfare. Podpet tariff. River looking so refined as he monitors river is the dog as he monitors the goings on outside the house. Maybe he wants to be like Harry Dunn, defending the house from intruders.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, the plaque's beautiful. And so is this pup.
Alison Gill
The feet, the arms.
Dana Goldberg
I know.
Alison Gill
He presents arms. He's ready to go.
Dana Goldberg
Go.
Alison Gill
Thank you, Donna.
Dana Goldberg
Love it. This is from tj. Pronoun. She and her. With all the chaos in our country and the world, I figured I'll send along something a little lighter. A photo of two St. Patty's Day gnomes I made meet Larry and Jerry. They're technically practice gnomes for a workshop I'm leading next week in our makerspace. I usually describe myself as about as crafty as an empty roll of toilet paper. But when I was asked to help create a workshop to bring our students a little extra joy, I thought, sure, why not? And just like that, Larry and Jerry came to life. Three guests is welcome, but only the flattering ones. In a couple of weeks, I'll be traveling across the country with a group of students for spring break to volunteer at an LGBTQ youth center in Colorado. We're all incredibly excited for the opportunity to support such an amazing organization and to grow from the experience ourselves. I'm truly grateful to work at a higher education institution that continues to actively value and demonstrate its commitment. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in meaningful ways. Thank you both for putting yourselves out there each week. The sanity, laughter, and sense of communities create genuinely make a difference. Alison, I'm so glad you were able to get away for a bit. Dana, you crushed it riding solo, and my wife and I grabbed tickets to your Rochester show the minute they went on sale. So we're really looking forward to seeing you there. I hope Larry and Jerry added a little brightness to your day. They definitely did.
Alison Gill
Oh, my goodness.
Dana Goldberg
These are fantastic. I know you don't think you're crafty, tj, but you can sell these easily. They're adorable.
Alison Gill
Yeah, I would buy these. So. Yeah, absolutely. These are beautiful. Thank you for that, tj and congrats. And it's so great to be able to work at a, you know, at an institution that. That celebrates our diversity instead of tries to stomp it down. So well done. Next up, Crystal Lynn. My 7 year old son was having some extreme behavior issues that we were seeking help from. A counselor recommended a sleep study, and we found out that he has moderate to severe sleep Apnea. Sleep apnea in kids shows up as mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and can mimic adhd. After years of struggling, we finally have an answer and a path forward. He just had his tonsillectomy, and we're in the thick of recovering from that. Tonsils are the number one cause of sleep apnea in kids. I urge any parent who's struggling with finding answers for their kids who are struggling to look into getting a sleep study study done. Shout out to the counselor who recommended we pursue a sleep study. We are so grateful. My pet Tax is a picture of my kids the moment we surprise them with the adoption of our kitty Stripes and another of how big he is now. Okay. The kids are jumping up and down with joy.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God. So cute. Oh, my God.
Alison Gill
Look at the cat. Okay, that cat got big. Crystal Lynn, that's incredible. I mean, sleep is so important, right? And sometimes we think it's other issues, and it's just that we're not getting sleep. So thank you for that.
Dana Goldberg
All right. This is from Tosha. Tosha. Pronouns share. Tosha, possibly. Probably TA no, it could be Tosha.
Alison Gill
Probably Tosha.
Dana Goldberg
He write in a correction. Give me if I'm saying your name incorrectly. We'll go with Tasha. Pronoun. She and her hey, beans queens. My good news is my daughter and her big fat queer ass wedding last Saturday. It was so much fun. Vagenesis, the National Bearded Express blue dress, officiated the nuptials.
Alison Gill
How great is that?
Dana Goldberg
After the ceremony.
Alison Gill
I see. I see. Vagenesis is their name. The National Bearded Empress. I see.
Dana Goldberg
After the ceremony, several of us skied from the ceremony to the reception. Skied. Skied. Dana skied from the ceremony. I was right with you.
Alison Gill
I was, like, skied. Is that like you were there? Virtually.
Dana Goldberg
That's me in the burgundy dress. That's me in the corner. For my pod pet tariff, I present Luna. You can guess the breed. The ring bearer. We were the first wedding party to ski down dressed in formals. After the ceremony, we were the talk of the resort. All good.
Alison Gill
God. Oh, my God.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, the baby.
Alison Gill
All right. Luna's adorable. The dress is fantastic. The skiing informal wear is, like, my favorite thing.
Dana Goldberg
This is so cool. This is so cool. Cool.
Alison Gill
Big fat queer ass wedding. All right, so what do you think about the breeds of this pup?
Dana Goldberg
I think there's a little Jack Russell in there. And again, I don't know in the second one, because I want to say, like, Chihuahua, but.
Alison Gill
Yeah, like a terrier Chihuahua.
Dana Goldberg
I don't know if that's right.
Alison Gill
Let's see Beagle and Jack Russell.
Dana Goldberg
Beagle. 50. 50% will take it.
Alison Gill
Yep, we got half. Good job. All right, next up, Cody pronouns she and they hello and to start. Start. A significant and sincere thank you to AG&DG and all the folks it takes to give us the daily beans. Well, daily, your constant reminders and good news submissions have truly helped me get my mental health addressed and given me my life back. Oh my goodness. I've been listening to you for several years now. Shout out to Aunt Susie for recommending and have gone back to therapy, gotten some diagnoses, found a med combo that allows me to want to get out of bed. So thank you. Now to the good news. I promised myself I would share this if it ever happened. A couple years ago, I was inspired to apply to grad school to pursue an mph. Didn't have much faith about it, but lo and behold, despite a mental health setback, I'm nearly to the finish line. Unfortunately, with the realm of public health being driven by a deranged brain worm, I fear that trying to even look for work. So I thought, why not spend the rest of this administration earning another degree? Degree. Well, holy. With one application to one school intending to get feedback, I got accepted to the Cinderella Doctorate program. I've only dreamed of a psychology doctorate, a psy. D. A clinical degree focusing on health psychology. In another five years, I'll be celebrating my 40th as a mother effing doctor. Hell yeah. That's so cool. To all of my queer sisters, brothers and siblings feelings. It does get better. And to echo a submission from earlier this week, I've only gotten to this point by completing one step at a time. Happy 35th birthday to me. And thank you again for all that you are pics of Agador Spartacus
Dana Goldberg
who
Alison Gill
had to wear jammies to leave his fur alone. But my goodness, it makes such a cute avidago.
Dana Goldberg
Okay, I don't wear shoes because they make me funny down.
Alison Gill
I do not want truth because I will fall down. You can't handle my heat.
Dana Goldberg
You can't. You're what? My heat. My Guatemalanes.
Alison Gill
My Guatemalanes.
Dana Goldberg
For those of you that don't know, we're quoting birdcage.
Alison Gill
That's agador.
Dana Goldberg
And if you've never seen birdcage, I mean, listen, since we're at the end of submission, that's maybe my final thoughts for today. You can skip it later. Go watch the birdcage. It's one of the best movies. It's just fantastic. Fantastic. Yeah, it's. It's wonderful. It's wonderful. It holds up.
Alison Gill
Christine Baranski is fantastic. Of course, Robin Williams. Nathan Lane is a gem close to Flockhart.
Dana Goldberg
I mean, come on. They were all wonderful.
Alison Gill
You pierced the toast.
Dana Goldberg
So what?
Alison Gill
And he tries to walk like John Wayne. Oh, with the schmecken beckons. Oh, my gosh, that's so funny. All right, everyone.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Alison Gill
Go watch the birdcage. Put a smile on your face. Thanks for listening. We'll you see, see you over on Beans Talk, and we'll be back in your ears tomorrow. Until then, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health and take care of your family. I've been ag.
Dana Goldberg
I've been dg.
Alison Gill
