MSW Media. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Friday, April 18, 20, 2025. Today, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected Trump's bid to vacate Judge Sinis's order to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia. Marco Rubio kills the State Department's anti propaganda shop. Palantir's plans to help ICE deport people have been leaked. Musk and Doge are now setting their sights on the gsa. A judge rules that Google is a monopolist in online advertising technology. The Trump administration is suing Maine over participation of transgender athletes in girls sports. The Supreme Court agrees to hear Trump's birthright citizenship case after arguments end for the term. And multiple patients have been hospitalized after an active shooter was reported at Florida State University's campus in Tallahassee. I'm Allison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Allison Gill
Happy Friday, my friend. And. And, you know, I just have to say with the three people standing at the podium during Pam Bondi's press conference about suing Maine over their transgender athletes, the. Those three people on that screen represent more people than there are transgender athletes in Maine.
Dana Goldberg
There's two. Two. And meanwhile, they lost funding for so many things that affect girls and sports and school and protecting people because two. Two kids want to play soccer. It's probably not soccer, but two. Two transgender athletes.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Just despicable. And. And the continued assault on Maine's governor by this administration.
Dana Goldberg
I could not be more impressed and proud of her. I think if more people did it, it would start to set a precedent. If more people said, you know what? Fuck off.
Allison Gill
Yeah, I concur. Today is also Fuglsang Friday, so we'll have our friend John Fugelsang on, and we'll get to the Hot Notes in a minute. But I just wanted to see how you were doing today, my friend, because I'm in my.
Dana Goldberg
Feels a bit. Sorry, I don't mean to start at the beginning of the show. Usually it's in the good news when I start to cry. I lost a friend. A lot of us did. A dear friend yesterday. I found out this morning. And so. And in honor of her, because I know she would do this, I just want to implore everyone who is of age to please go get your colonoscopy. If it's something you're putting off, don't put out. Please don't. Please don't put it off. So she was one of the lucky 2% that lived 10 years with stage 4 colorectal cancer, and she and her wife lived every day to the fullest. And my heart aches for my dear friend who lost the love of her life, but also that entire family. And so, again, just in her memory, please take care of your body and pay close attention to those symptoms. But if my voice sounds a little more flat than normal, just, just going through some feels today, I'm sending you.
Allison Gill
All my love, my friend. And I know everybody listening is as well. Thank you for that. And I just, again, my heart goes out to you and her family and friends as well.
Dana Goldberg
Thank you, sweetheart.
Allison Gill
So thank you for, for telling everybody what she would want everybody to know.
Dana Goldberg
Yes, indeed.
Allison Gill
All right, everybody, it's time for some news. Let's have the hot notes. Hot notes. All right. First up from NBC, two people were killed in today's shooting at Florida State University. According to FSU Chief of Police Jason Trumbauer. The deceased were not named. They were not students. A total of six people were injured, including five who were hospitalized. Trumbauer said that the suspected shooter was also being treated at the hospital. Students and staff at FSU were forced to shelter in place as the campus went into lockdown following reports of an active shooter at the student union. This is a school attended by multiple students that were there for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. The suspect is the 20 year old son of a sheriff's deputy and had access to one of her weapons, according to Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil. So I don't want to hear the bullshit from the right that, you know, kids can't get guns from, you know, people who are good with guns. This is a sheriff's deputies kid, so we'll keep you posted as the story unfolds. Just tragedy, indeed.
Dana Goldberg
That's why I don't, I don't have a lot of discussion around that. So we're just sending love to those affected, for sure. And hopefully people keep fighting for something to change. Something to change. This one's from Rolling Stone. At least two protesters were tased by police officers at Marjorie Taylor Greene's town hall Tuesday in Awkward, Georgia. Several others were removed from the room for interrupting the congresswoman. Videos on social media show one man being electrocuted by a group of police officers as he was dragged out of the room. Another individual was shoved and tased by officers seemingly just outside the doors of the hall where Green was speaking to cheers and applause from her supporters.
Allison Gill
Gross.
Dana Goldberg
Not surprising, police told several news outlets that at least four other people were removed from the town hall for protesting.
Allison Gill
Are you really protesting in a town hall I mean, it's a town hall.
Dana Goldberg
No, you're. They call that speaking up. Yeah, that's exactly what you're doing. As much as Green would like to claim that her main concern was listening and responding to the voters in her district, videos show her openly mocking attendees who questioned her policies and support for Donald Trump. When asked by a constituent what she would do as a representative to, quote, reign in Trump and protect services like Social Security, Green took on a sarcastic tone. And I quote, oh, poor Christina. Poor, poor Christina. Well, I'm sure, Christina, you think you're pretty smart, but the reality is you were completely brainwashed by whatever source of news you listen to. Again, this is one of her constituents.
Allison Gill
What if you listen to what Elon Musk is saying about how he's shutting down Social Security and it's a Ponzi scheme and they're closing the offices. Is he a reliable source of news, Marjorie?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
What a bunch of shit. Gross. It reminds me of that town hall. Remember where that woman got dragged out and.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, awful, awful. And people just sat there and watched. And these ones were cheering violence against people that are speaking out against their legislatures that are not doing what they were voted in to do. And that is protect the people in their best interests. Not your best interest, Marjorie Taylor Greene. Not your bank account, not your insider trading.
Allison Gill
Allegedly. Weird.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
Anyway, reminds me of Sebastian Gorka going on TV yesterday and telling people that anyone standing up for the due process of Abrego Garcia will be prosecuted criminally for abetting a terrorist.
Dana Goldberg
Give me a break.
Allison Gill
Oh, come at me, bro. I'm advocating for due process for Abrego Garcia. Bring it. Speaking of Abrego Garcia, though, a 4th Circuit Court of Appeals panel unanimously denied Trump's bid to vacate Judge Cenis's amended order to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia. This is Judge Wilkinson, a Reagan appointee, a guy who wrote an op ed that there shouldn't be term limits on the Supreme Court. Oh, boy. This is an old guard, I think, actually, like, senior status judge, Reagan appointee. Like, yeah, super left wing activist judge. Right. Upon review, he. He wrote. And by the way, I wrote this up atmuller she wrote dot com. Because this is one of the best opinions I've read in a while. I'm. I'm one of those weirdos who's like, what's your favorite show? I don't care. I want to know what your favorite court ruling is. He said, upon review of the government's motion, Trump's motion. The court denies the motion for an emergency stay pending appeal, and for a writ of mandamus. The relief the government is requesting is both extraordinary and premature. While we fully respect the executive's robust assertion of its Article 2 powers, we shall not micromanage the efforts of a fine district judge attempting to implement the Supreme Court. Supreme Court's recent decision. So, like I said, I have a complete write up on this ruling@mullershireroad.com check it out.
Dana Goldberg
Thanks, Alison. This one's from 404 Media. Palantir, the surveillance giant. Apparently it's taking an increased role with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, otherwise known as ice, including finding the physical location of people who are marked for deportation. That's according to Palantir slacks and other internal messages obtained by 404 Media. Now, the leak shows that Palantir's work with ICE includes producing leads for law enforcement to find people to deport and keeping track of the logistics of Trump's mass deportation effort. Provides concrete insight into the Trump administration's wish to leverage data to enforce its immigration agenda. The internal communications, those also show Palantir's leadership preparing for a potential backlash from employees or outsiders, with them writing frequently asked questions that can be sent to family or friends that start to ask about Palantir's work with ice. So they know. Big deal. Yeah.
Allison Gill
Yeah. We need to give Palantir the Tesla treatment.
Dana Goldberg
Yep.
Allison Gill
They have a big office in DC. I think somebody should reach out to DC's Indivisible chapter and organize a rally at Palantir. And it's a great idea because fuck these guys.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
So if you want to.
Dana Goldberg
The amount of money. Amount of money people are making off of taking away people's constitutional rights and deporting people that do not have criminal records. The amount of money. Of course, when you put this sort of money in front of someone, the humanity of other people goes right out the fucking window for greed. It's infuriating.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And they want to give these contracts to their buddies who own private prison construction companies and private prison management companies. Shit like that. It's disgusting. And Palantir's partnership with Doge goes even further. We talked about that NPR story yesterday, but from the Associated Press. On the rooftop patio with a General Services Administration headquarters, gsa, an agency staffer recently discovered something strange. A rectangular device attached to a wire that snaked across the roof, over the ledge and into the administrator's window one floor below.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, boy.
Allison Gill
It didn't take long for the employee, an IT specialist, to figure out the device was a transceiver that communicates with Elon Musk's vast and private Starlink satellite network. Concerned that the equipment violated federal laws designed to protect public data, staffers reported the discovery to superiors and the agency's internal watchdog, the Starlink equipment, raises a host of questions about what Musk and his efficiency czars are doing at gsa, an obscure agency that is playing an outsized role in the Trump administration's quest to slash costs and bring the federal government to heel. As we know, GSA manages all the government's real estate transactions, so we're going to be keeping a close eye on this.
Dana Goldberg
But we already know. Yeah, we already know that that information, information of all the DOGE is doing is going right to Russia.
Allison Gill
Yeah, and, and that NPR report, somebody was with a DOGE account, was trying to log in from Russia. And my reporting in January on my substack with that interview that I did with a cybersecurity expert who found publicly facing DNS information for the Office of Personnel Management, that account was trying to be logged into from Russia.
Dana Goldberg
Not even hacked with the actual password and username, like it wasn't even being hacked. They had the information they needed and.
Allison Gill
Somebody at OPM saw somebody come in with a transceiver and attached it to their servers. And this person who I spoke to was like, that's a clear, that's clear evidence that they're trying to upload, exfiltrate these data from OPM to, to the cloud. And now we know they're using Starlink to do it. Yeah, makes me wonder about them elections.
Dana Goldberg
All right, this one's from Wired, the Global Engagement Center. And that's a State Department unit that called out Russia and Chinese propaganda campaigns, became a MAGA boogeyman that's been shut down. Team Trump is promising that. It's just the start of an examination of alleged censorship during the Biden administration and the first Trump administration as well. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the move, quote, a crucial step toward keeping the President's promise to liberate American speech in an op ed for the right wing site the Federalist. Critics say it's part of a larger effort by the Trump administration to withdraw from a decades long contest of ideas and information with America's adversaries. Rubio. Until recently, he was hawkish about fighting foreign influence campaigns. In 2023, a second diplomatic source with direct knowledge said he supported reauthorizing funding the GEC into the 2000 and 30s. And I quote, it's not just Russia. Iran, China, North Korea and even Cuba are pushing disinformation into America. That's what he posted last September. But after being confirmed as Secretary of State, Rubio appeared to do something of a 180, I would say, exactly.
Allison Gill
In total.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, something of a 180. It was a 180. While the Department would continue to counter, quote, enemy propaganda, he wrote in a cable, any State Department programs that, quote, lead to any, in any way, open the door to censorship of the American people will be terminated. What the fuck happened to this guy? What do they have on these people? Like, I can't imagine. It's just the paycheck and the power of having this position. There has to be another reason.
Allison Gill
I know, I know. Because you could just as easily be a hero.
Dana Goldberg
Exactly.
Allison Gill
And he wants to counter enemy propaganda. What does that mean? Like the Daily beans? Like, what the fuck is he talking about?
Dana Goldberg
What's a good question?
Allison Gill
If it's not disinformation and propaganda from Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, what is it? What. What are you trying to. Yeah, it's just Twitter files. We're just gonna have nothing but idiotic Twitter files, copycat face garbage for the next three years. So tired of it. Just tired of it. Oh, we. We have to stop propaganda because it's free speech. They're like, we need to be able to lie with impute without anybody checking on us.
Dana Goldberg
That's exactly what it is.
Allison Gill
Next up from the Associated Press. The Supreme Court on Thursday kept on hold Trump's restriction on birthright citizenship, but agreed to hear arguments on the issue in May. Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of people who are in the US Illegally has been halted nationwide by three district courts around the country. Supreme Court is leaving those halts in place. Appeals courts have declined to disturb those rulings. The Republican administration had sought to narrow those orders to allow for the policy to take effect in parts or most of the country while court challenges play out. That is expected to be the focus of the high court arguments on May 15, again, two weeks past the court's term for hearing arguments. So that frightens me a little bit. Absolutely. I think. I don't think they're going to grant, you know, the overhaul of, or the, you know, the termination of birthright citizenship. But I'm. What I'm afraid they're going to do is to say that district court judges can't issue nationwide injunctions.
Dana Goldberg
Right.
Allison Gill
That it's going to be state by state. State. Which just fucking is ridiculous to think that if I'm in one state, I am a citizen, and if I travel to another state, I'm not a citizen, and I'm subject to deportation unless I specifically file an individual lawsuit because there's no nationwide injunction to stop it.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, I was on Stephanie Miller this morning, and I, I don't mean to keep just being exacerbated. It's just there's no guardrails right now. And so a lot of us are having a hard time because we're trying to bring you the news. And then, you know, normally we're like, but wait, there's something we can do. And I'm like, there's nothing we can do.
Allison Gill
I know, I know.
Dana Goldberg
Some of this, some of this you just have to see and hope that they overplay their hand and just know that there are still courts out there and judges that are doing the right thing. We're winning in the courts. People are trying to stop this. And that is what we can do before the midterms. That's what we can do. This one is also from the Associated Press. Allison. The Trump administration on Wednesday sued Maine, as we talked about at the top of the hour, for not complying with the government's pushed to ban transgender athletes, all two of them, in girls and women's sports, escalating a dispute over whether the state is abiding by a federal law that bars discrimination in education based on sex. The lawsuit follows weeks of feuding between Republican administration and Democratic Governor Janet Mills that has led to threats to cut off crucial federal funding and a clash of the with the White House when she told the president, and I quote, we'll see you in court now. Trump's departments of Education and Health and Human Services have said Maine's education agency is violating the Federal Title 9 Anti Discrimination. I know, I know.
Allison Gill
It's upholding Federal Title 9 Anti Discrimination.
Dana Goldberg
Thank you for saying that. Yep. They're saying they're violating Title 9 by allowing transgender girls to participate on girls teams. The Justice Department is asking the court to order the state to direct all schools to prohibit the participation of males in athletic competition, competition designated for females.
Allison Gill
They aren't trying to have males having trans girls. They're trying to have women and girls in.
Dana Goldberg
I know. Maine officials have refused to agree with a settlement that would have banned transgender students from sports, arguing that the law does not prevent schools from letting transgender athletes participate. Mills said Wednesday that the lawsuit was expected and as part of a pressure campaign by Washington to force Maine to ignore its own human rights laws.
Allison Gill
Good for government. Own laws Good, good, good. But states rights.
Dana Goldberg
That's right. Keep fighting, keep fighting.
Allison Gill
Love it. Love to see it. All right, next up, some good news for a change. This is from the Times. Google acted illegally to maintain a monopoly in some online advertising technology, according to a federal judge who ruled on Thursday, adding to legal troubles that could reshape the $1.86 trillion company and alter its power over the Internet. You really shouldn't have to put in any evidence into the record other than the fact that they are a 1.86 trillion dollar company. Yep, that should be all you need to show that you are monopoly.
Dana Goldberg
Unbelievable.
Allison Gill
Judge Leonie Brinkima of the U.S. district Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and forgive me if I'm mispronouncing that judge's name, said in a 115 page ruling that Google had broken the law to build its dominance over the largely invisible system of technology that places advertisements on pages across the Web. The Justice Department and a group of states had sued Google, arguing that its monopoly in ad technology allowed the company to charge higher prices and take a bigger portion of each sale. It's called price fixing. When you're a monopoly, you can do that. On Thursday, she gave both sides seven days to propose a schedule for the next phase of the case. In its lawsuit, the DOJ preemptively asked the court to force Google to sell some pieces of the ad technology business it had acquired over the years. The government will now assess the ruling and determine what to ask the court to do to remedy the monopoly. So yay.
Dana Goldberg
I'm actually a little surprised as Justice Department and I'm waiting for a kickback from Google to see if this whole thing just goes away. But right now we've got something happening, so. And we have more things happening because I know a lot of you are like, what can I do? So we're going to get y'all into some good trouble.
Allison Gill
What are you guys doing? Yes, that's what we can do is our little good trouble assignments that we have every day. This is from an anonymous listener. I work in HIV prevention and honestly, we're so close to being able to end the HIV epidemic with the clinical tools we have available to us even without a vaccine. Just the cuts to Ryan White funding in this budget alone added to the other cuts to HIV that have been made previously is going to reverse our ability to end the epidemic. New HIV and other co concurring infections will increase again. Training and research will grind to a halt. People will die. And what's most ridiculous of all is that preventing this disease is so much more cost effective than treatment. But clearly the current administration doesn't care about that or people at all. Please encourage the Leguminati to engage in some good trouble and call their Congress critters to demand that Ryan White Care act funding is maintained for all parts A through F. The Ryan White Care act is the primary source of funding for HIV care and prevention in the United States and keeps over 600,000 people living with HIV in care and virally suppressed every year. There is so much more to address in this budget, but that is one concrete action that will make a massive difference for people living with HIV in this country as well as the people who serve them. Thanks y'all. You're the best of the best and it's a joy to be a part of this community. Thank you. Anonymous so everybody get that. Call your congresspeople and say demand the Ryan White Care act funding is maintained for all parts A through faith.
Dana Goldberg
Well done. I second that.
Allison Gill
I third third that. And everyone else quadruples that tertiary backing from me. Ah, thank you so much. Anonymous all right everybody. Up next we have John Fugle saying for Fugal saying Fridays, followed by the good news. Stick around. We'll be right back after these messages.
Dana Goldberg
We'll be right back.
Allison Gill

John Fugelsang
Oh, Alison Gill, so good to see you. Thanks for having me back. Hello.
Allison Gill
Always good to see you too. And I'm so excited because you are planning some counter programming.
John Fugelsang
We really are.
Allison Gill
To the White House Correspondence Dinner.
John Fugelsang
Thank you for letting me lead with it. Look like, like you and your listeners, I, we all worry, what kind of world are we leaving for? Elon Musk's thousands of children, some of whom he's met. And I get really scared. You know how it is. I mean, it's, the situation is dire. Corporate media is not helping. But when the White House Correspondents Dinner fired Amber Ruffin, they're firing comedians. We decided it was time to take back the mic and brutally mock them in the process. And so I am very thrilled to announce to your listeners that you can join me and Alison Gill and the Political Voices Network for the not the White House Correspondents Dinner Pay per view Special on Saturday, April 26 at 9pm Eastern, the same time at the White House Correspondence Dinner. And this is gonna be a total takedown of the media hypocrisy, political BS sanitized news cycles. And I'm so thrilled at the lineup. We have over a dozen fearless comedians and influencers who are all doing their own very brief versions of their speech they would give to the correspondence center. So we've got Hal Sparks, Alonzo Bowden of Last comic standing, Trey Crowder, the liberal redneck. Mr. Glenn Kirschner, who's quite funny. Brooklyn dad, defiant. And JoJo from jurors, who you might know from social media. Dean Obadalla, Fragila, Chuck Nice of Neil DeGrasse, Tyson Startalk. TB's frank of mystery Size Theater, Frank Coniff. Many more to announce, including our very special guest, someone who's actually headlined the Correspondence Dinner, Ms. Elaine Boosler. So it's going to be. And those are just the names we've announced so far. And Allison Gill will be one of our performers. So it's Saturday, April 26, not the White House Correspondence Center. Don't watch that other thing. You can see it live or stream it on demand. We're only charging 20, 26 because that's a good number to remember. You can go to meathook.com and, you know, it's, it's for Americans who aren't afraid of comedians or free speech. So I'm really thrilled you're going to be a part of it.
Allison Gill
Meat Hook. M E A T M E E T. Yes. M E E T M E E T. Okay.
John Fugelsang
Yes, Meat Hook.
Allison Gill
Awesome. And this is a. That another Sexy Liberal production.
John Fugelsang
I assume this is going to be through Political Voices Network. So it's done with some of the people who do the Sexy Liberal tour, and Hal Sparks and Fragela who do the Sexy Liberal tour will be a part of it, but it's, it's not a Stephanie Miller show. Although it is done by the guy who's trying to kill her for the insurance money. So. Yeah.
Allison Gill
Oh, I see. I see. All right. I'm so happy to be a part of this. This is going to be so good.
John Fugelsang
It's sexy liberal adjacent, but, you know, the. But a few grizzly, weathered liberals like me are welcome as well. I'm so thrilled you're doing it. You are so funny. And not everyone's going to be funny. I told people you can give a fiery speech if you want, but I'm so glad you're going to be one of the performers for this.
Allison Gill
Yeah, it's going to be fun. I look forward to it, my friend. Again, that's Meathook. M e e tmeathook.com for tickets and information where you can stream that instead of watching this stupid correspondence dinner. That will be very unfunny.
Dana Goldberg
Yes.
John Fugelsang
And I'll be saying it quite a bit.
Allison Gill
So next we should start doing our own Kennedy center stuff.
John Fugelsang
Oh, I love it. I'm going to be making nothing but Kennedy said her jokes. Oh, and it's meathook live, is what I should say. Not meathook live. No, I'm apologizing, too. We just announced this thing. We just kind of slapped it together really quick. And I just thought, let me see if Alison Gill and Trey Crowder, liberal redneck, are free. So listen. And we're going to be throwing everything at the wall. We never know what's going to stick. We wouldn't have known that a Cory Booker filibuster. This is not a filibuster. Would so light the world on fire. I had no idea Chris Van Hollen would be one of the most inspiring Democrats in the Senate this week. So we're all going to keep on trying all different things. And we did a lot of these pay per views during the pandemic for sexy liberal. And, you know, we're going to keep on trying to find new ways to make this fun.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Awesome. Awesome. And let's talk a little bit about some people doing very uninspiring things. I remember when I, when I worked for the federal government, there were a lot of requests that came across my desk. I had a few hundred people at one point who were my direct reports. And I would often get requests for will you lead us in prayer or can we all go to the chapel to pray together? And I would respond saying we can't endorse any specific religion. But, you know, if you'd like to do a moment of silence or go to the chapel for. To pay some respects for perhaps a veteran who's passed away that doesn't have any next of kin. Absolutely, of course. But we can't do this in the name of Christianity, for example.
John Fugelsang
Exactly.
Allison Gill
Now we have.
John Fugelsang
Because you're a responsible conservative, Allison. Now, separation of church and state is the conservative point of view.
Allison Gill
Now we have a State Department head, namely Marco Rubio, who wants people to snitch on others who are demonstrating anti Christian values, whatever that means.
John Fugelsang
Yeah, I mean, well, this goes to the core of what is awful about right wing Christianity, whether you call it fundamentalism or nationalism. You ever notice how the fundamentalists always cast themselves as under threat by secular enemies or liberal enemies or other religious. It's the us against them. Persecution complex. Right. Christian nationalists talk about persecution like it's a hobby, like it's CrossFit for the soul. I'm oppressed. And you hear them talk all the time. Our voices are so repressed. And they say this on, on thousands of podcasts and on Fox News and OAN and newsmax we're being silenced. Thousands and thousands of them. What they say is that Christianity is under attack. They're still the majority, they still have incredible cultural and political significance and influence, but they have the narrative of systemic oppression. So this is how Donald Trump got elected. He didn't say to the Christians, I'll fight for the things Jesus talked about. They can't stand that. He said, I'll fight for Christians. This was the whole thing. You're under attack. You're under siege. Under attack. And that's all it took. So now, under Trump's new regime, the State Department is asking employees to report anti Christian bias, not anti Jewish bias, not anti Muslim bias. They're not being asked to report workplace abuse, not racism, not my boss asked me to send him nudes on Slack. It's hunting witches. Hunting witches again. Only this time it's if you ever made fun of Kirk Cameron in the Slack meeting. And victimhood can be a real core identity for some religious folks. It gives them belonging, it gives them purpose. And early Christians were definitely persecuted. But these modern fundamentalists like to make this cosplay. They'd rather believe, Alison, that they're being hunted to extinction, then just admit that a pluralistic democracy scares them. They're not being persecuted, they're just being told they're not the main character. It's equal treatment. And that burns them like holy water on Dracula. So they've been told under the Biden regime. Give us examples of anti Christian bias under the Biden regime. And we already know under these people that for them, bias means if I'm not in control, I'm being attacked.
Allison Gill
Don't deuce fault.
John Fugelsang
Right V's fault. If you don't let me run the country, you're canceling Jesus.
Allison Gill
Yeah.
John Fugelsang
And like, Jesus literally died because authoritarian government and right wing religion merged. And that's who they think gave them the green light to take over public schools. They don't care about blessed are the poor. Love your enemies. They hate all of it. Christian nationalism is the revenge of Constantine. It's the triumph of Christian power over Jesus teachings. It starts with this carpenter saying, love your enemies. And it ends with Mike Johnson and his family speaking in tongues over a porn blocker. They don't follow Jesus, they brand with Jesus. It's marketing. So they're not under siege, they're just mad the rest of us are finally reading the fine print and they're not going to do anything to actually further Christianity. In no way has Christianity or Christian worship been limited. It's Christian Conservative dominance that's been limited and that's all they care about. They have no spirituality. It's just power.
Allison Gill
So nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. Bring, bring the comfy chair. Not the comfy chair. And this is evident in something else Marco Rubio did. He completely dismantled the disinformation investigation arm of the State Department, of course, because it limits the free speech of conservatives. Of right wing conservatives. Yes. Of liars. Of fascists. Of Nazis. Yes, yes. So he's basically saying, no, no, no, no, we should be able lie with impunity. And, and he's going to do a whole Twitter files thing about it, which is, I mean, the Twitter files in and of itself was that. And I'm sure they're going to have the IRS go after, you know, more left leaning nonprofits or, or even just rule of law nonprofits. He's going after lawyers, he's going after universities. And, and you know, that's, that's the whole, that's the whole game. That's the whole ball game. Right, Fascinating.
John Fugelsang
Again, it's all about power.
Allison Gill
And, and then muzzle the intellectuals and.
John Fugelsang
Claim made up persecution as an exist to persecute others. So they're doing it with the university.
Allison Gill
That's why you're ripping a comedian out of the White House Correspondents Dinner and why you're taking over the Kennedy center board.
John Fugelsang
Exactly. Since when does Donald Trump care about anti Semitism on campus or anywhere else? Donald Trump had Nick Fuentes and Kanye west over to his house for an all you can Nazi Thanksgiving dinner. I mean, Elon Musk tells two Hitler jokes in one interview after two Nazi salutes. These people don't care. So you got Trump going up to the universities essentially like he's running a mob racket. Right? Like, like he, like. I just picture Trump in a velvet tracksuit going like, it's a nice little federal funding you got there. Harvard. Be ashamed if a little anti Semitism made it disappear. Like they're, they're not finding anti Semitism, they're rebranding fascism as a scholarship program and trying to extort Harvard. Allison. Harvard. These people invented elitism, right? Like, if anyone knows how to crush your soul without breaking a sweat, it's Harvard. I would not declare war on these people. And they're like, whoa, you're too authoritarian for us. I mean, J.D. vance got us feeling sorry for the Catholic bishops, and now Trump's got us feeling sorry for Harvard.
Allison Gill
I know, I know. Yeah. And you know, during January 6th, we're like, we're all pro police and because of the way that the police were attacked that day by a bunch of seditionists who've now been pardoned. But you know, terrorists, they're terrorists. Let's take, yeah, let's take a look at what they're trying to do to people who they claim are terrorists but are not. And I really hope people start seeing the disappearing of our friends and neighbors to a concentration camp in El Salvador as a class issue and not as some distraction. It's part of the oligarchy. It's not separate from it or a distraction from the oligarchy. The fact that the wealthy and well connected get due process and the rest of us do not is a class issue in this country. And I'm hoping we can connect it instead of trying to separate it out as some folks seem to be trying to do these days.
John Fugelsang
Donald Trump is a 34 times convicted felon who pardoned terrorists who beat cops on the Capitol steps for a lie. And they're trying to call innocent people convicted of no crimes terrorists and gang members. I, I, you got to think for a minute about how many millions of dollars we, the taxpayers, will be shelling out for the next few decades to the survivors and families of these people that are being trafficked to a torture hole. I, I, I, I can't say deported anymore because deportations have to be legally approved by a judge.
Allison Gill
It's not a deportation.
John Fugelsang
These are renditions.
Allison Gill
These are kidnappings.
John Fugelsang
This guy's whole sales pitch to the Republicans was that he was different from Bush. And now they're renditioning people just like they did to the Muslims to third party nations to be tortured. It's no different than what the Bushes did.
Allison Gill
It's a black site. It's a black site, except we know about it.
John Fugelsang
I mean, Trump sent a legally protected father to what is essentially this militarized Minecraft server, Versatus. You know, we illegally deport this guy to El Salvador. Kilmar Garcia, admit it. Supreme Court says you gotta fix this. The Trump administration's like, what do you want me to do, buy him a plane ticket? The planes are so expensive. Joe Biden's tariffs. So this week, Judge Boasberg, who I'm liking more and more, drops this 46 page legal diss track on Trump and Pam Bondi. Bride Me Barbie Allison, Florida's most reliable source of hairspray and bad choices. Pam Bondi comes out and calls the man a terrorist with no evidence like the lawsuits against her, the lawsuits against Caroline Levitt. You got John Roberts coming in, stepping in Saying, no, you can't impeach judges you want. I mean, it's like being scolded by the color beige. John Roberts, Stephen Miller comes out there and says, oh, the Supreme Court ruled with us nine nothing. They're only going for the white folks watching Fox News who are incapable of any critical thought. I mean, the Supreme Court ruled nine nothing. You have to bring him back, put these people under oath. Judge Pam Bondi, J.D. vance, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, they've all lied and they're saying we can disappear you even after a judge says you can't. I mean, they're beta testing this. We've talked about this. They unlawfully deport a guy. Federal judge says, fix it, bring it home. They say, no. Supreme Court says, nigh nothing. Clarence Thomas is like, this is too evil for me. Trump's like, no. Bukeni says, nope. And the court said, and the DOJ says, oh, we don't have to listen to courts anymore. And somehow this law abiding dad who escaped the gangs, who a judge said had to stay in this country, that guy's the criminal. That guy's the. So I love what Chris Van Hollen did. He's not the most exciting guy. I thought he was going to have a much more exciting career, but, like.
Allison Gill
Maybe now he will.
John Fugelsang
He's a great budget nerd. He shows up in El Salvador like Liam Neeson, and he's like, let my people go. And El Salvador is. Vice President's like, no, we were paid by the White House. My pimp says no. And the Trumpers are furious at Van Holland.
Allison Gill
Like, I know. Oh, I know. But what this is just in though Trump appealed that Judge Sini's order to the 4th Circuit. And 4th Circuit just came back. This is a Reagan appointee, okay? And this is the, this is how, if you're a judge, this is how you tell a president to off this guy. This Judge on the 4th Circuit said, We shall not micromanage. The efforts of a fine district judge attempting to implement the Supreme Court's recent decision goes on to say, it is difficult in some cases to get to the very heart of the matter. But in this case, it's not hard at all. The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process. The government claims, in essence, that because it has rid itself of custody, that there's nothing that can be done. This should be shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive senses of liberty that Americans far removed from Courthouses still hold dear. And as Anna Bauer posts the Scorcher, there's two final things here. If today the executive claims the right to deport without due process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home? And the conclusion? We yet cling to the hope that it is not naive to believe our good brethren in the executive branch perceive the rule of law as vital. This case presents their unique chance to vindicate that value and to summon the best that is within us while there is still time.
John Fugelsang
So an unhinged leftist. You're saying it's an unhinged leftist judge?
Allison Gill
Yeah, unhinged leftist judge. Reagan appointee.
John Fugelsang
This is why the goddess of justice wears a blindfold, to not have to watch Donald Trump wagging his tiny, stubby junk at her all day. I mean, they're so angry that, that, like, some people care about human rights more than prison photo ops. Kristi Noem is doing these selfies in front of torture cells like, like, it's the satanic trophy wives Coachella. And they're calling, they're, they're calling the, the, like Chris Van Hollander villain. They're calling. This is what we've got. You're either on the side of the party that wants to get an innocent dad out of prison or the party that wants chat GPT to give it a reason to keep him there. That won't make them look bad. That's it.
Allison Gill
But let's not give the Supreme Court too much credit here. They did leave a lot of wiggle room for the due regard and deference of Trump's foreign affairs policies. And also they just decided to hear outside of terms arguments on birthright citizenship, which are really disguised as arguments on preventing district court judges from issuing nationwide injunctions, basically, again, stripping people of due process by forcing any individual person in any individual jurisdiction or state to file for themselves for a fight for birthright citizenship. And I'm afraid the Supreme Court will probably allow that to happen. And I'm also afraid the Supreme Court will not allow Judge Boasberg, in the case of the rest of the Venezuelans that are stuck in El Salvador that were taken out on those planes, I'm afraid that if he tries to appoint a special prosecutor, as he said he would do, if the DOJ refuses to prosecute criminal contempt for the Trump administration, which she will, that the Supreme Court will not allow it. They will say it's unconstitutional. I know that in 2020, three, they denied cert in a different case, but that was on procedural grounds and not on the merits. And there are five conservative Supreme Court activists who do not want. That's right. Who do not want judges to be able to appoint special counsel to prosecute criminal contempt in their courts. So, you know, this isn't a hand in hand thing with the Supreme Court. I don't think that the Trump is defying the Supreme Court. He's simply taking advantage of the giant loophole they left him. The conservatives on the Supreme Court, yeah.
John Fugelsang
It was a real split the baby.
Allison Gill
Kind of decision in Abrego Garcia. And so I think they're working in concert. I mean, the dark money put them both in their positions. So I think that's where we are.
John Fugelsang
That's the aristocrat class. You're exactly right. They're making the laws. And, you know, it's great that we have three humans there and that now John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett are this little insignificant swing vote together. But this is why it's more important than ever to celebrate the people who are standing up and doing something to praise Harvard for not capitulating to again, Chris Van Holland, like, yeah, he's sort of like Liam Neeson without that many particular sets of skills trying to get him out. But, like, at least he went down there fighting. He wasn't just fighting for his freedom. I thought Van Hollen was there fighting for the whole concept that laws still matter in this country. Democrats should be doing this. If you want to beat fascists, don't be afraid to look them in the face. They've lost on the morality. They've lost in the history books on the morality already. Pam Bondi is never going to be able to change what history says about it, daughter. And we're going to be shelling out millions and millions and millions in reparations to these men we have renditioned for years to come.
Allison Gill
So, like, not to mention shelling out money to pay for the concentration camps that they're being held in.
John Fugelsang
If, if you're mad about a guy trying to bring a father home, you're not on the side. You think you're wrong, right?
Allison Gill
All right, my friend, thank you so much for the, for the candor today. I really appreciate it. Everybody, you have to check out Tell me everything on SiriusXM progress channel 127. You can give a shout out to yourself, a loved one, a small business in your area. The the marshmallow business was fantastic by the way. I love that she woke up to a bunch of orders. That was great.
Dana Goldberg
I mean so many.
Allison Gill
So fantastic. Also, you can send in, you know, corrections like pronunciation corrections or shout outs to government programs that have helped you or a loved one. Anything from Social Security and Medicare all the way to, you know, Section eight great VA health care you've received like from the PACT act or whatever, and also student debt relief. So send them in dailybean spot.com click on contact first up from L pronoun she and her I'm not a religious person, but my siblings and I were raised Catholic. Same my mom, 74 years old, is a staunch Catholic and a Democrat. She recently told me a story about her pastor. She said how incredibly proud she is of what sounds like some good trouble. And now I'm proud of him too. He sent out a letter in the church bulletin asking the parishioners in a slightly purple city in a red state to look at this political moment through the lens of true Christian values and recognize the hypocrisies in the insertion of claims of Christianity into politics of nationalism. He actually equates Christian nationalism directly with white nationalism in a very gentle and very Catholic way. He's fighting for people to seek the truth in a time of lies. I think it's not only brave of him, but great that this suggests leaders at all levels are rallying the troops and keeping eyes focused on the truth and justice, while an attempt at mass intimidation and gaslighting is aimed at us all. Love the podcast. I'm a newer listener who worked backwards to the Beans from Jack, and I'm glad I found my way here as a little pet tariff. Here's a collage of my girl Kessel, like the Kessel Run, Elle, in various poses with an amazing recent gift from a friend.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, it's a giant carrot.
Allison Gill
I want a giant carrot.
Dana Goldberg
I mean, it looks like a body pillow. I wouldn't mind it.
Allison Gill
Look at this beautiful pupper. That's so cool that. That this. This priest is doing that. Thank you, Elle, for sharing.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, right. This one is from Melanie Pronoun. She and her Dear Beans Queens. I started listening to your podcast recently on the recommendation of a good friend, and it's helped me to survive the onslaught of absurdity and cruelty from the current administration. Thank you for being voices of reason in this bizarre world we're living in. After hearing RFK Jr. S disgusting remarks regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder yesterday. And they were disgusting, I second that. I felt compelled to give a shout out to my daughter, Ray. Pronouns they, them. Ray was born with a rare genetic disorder that has caused them to lose their vision, among other chronic health issues. Ray was diagnosed on the spectrum at 15. They are extremely intelligent, and despite all of the physical and other various obstacles, literal and figurative, that they have been thrown in their path, they have never let those challenges stop them from achieving their goals. Ray will graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point next month with a bachelor's degree in English, emphasis on writing, editing, and publishing, and in 2023 published a book of poems called we who Walked Beneath the Stars.
Allison Gill
Oh, I love that title.
Dana Goldberg
What a great title. Ray's working on the next volume of poetry and also write poetry for Illinois Eagle, an online newspaper covering LGBTQ and social justice in Illinois. We couldn't be more proud of Ray and all their accomplishments now. I couldn't be more proud of Ray and all of their accomplishments.
Allison Gill
I know, I know. Same.
Dana Goldberg
Ray, if you're listening, you fucking rock. Now, for my pod pet tax, here's a picture of my grand cat, Pepper, after hearing someone sneeze. Whenever someone sneezes, she meows. Bless you.
Allison Gill
Oh my goodness, Melanie. Thank you, Ray. You're just incredible. I remember trying my hand at poetry. My first major in college was English Creative Writing. My poems left something to be desired, so I went in a different direction.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God. I used to write poetry all the time. My mom kept a folder of them and I was like, it was always after I got my heart broken by a girl. I wrote the best poetry. Or if I was in love with someone or thought I was in love with someone. Yeah, yeah.
Allison Gill
My very first poem, I was five. It was something like, Bob is neat. He has big feet. Jim is orange. Sorry, Jim. Nothing rhymes with orange.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, boy.
Allison Gill
I wrote that after my dad told me that there were a couple of words in the English language that had nothing that rhymed with them. Silver was one and orange was another. I think there's a third, but I can't remember what it is. Maybe rhythm, but yeah, I was like, oh well, if it doesn't rhyme, I have to write a poem about it. It that makes fun of rhyming poems. I don't know. I was a weird kid.
Dana Goldberg
My co host is very meta sometimes.
Allison Gill
D or just weird.
Dana Goldberg
Either one. We go with meta.
Allison Gill
Look at the cute kitty. Oh, thanks for that, Melanie. And thank you, Ray, for all your amazing work. Next up, Kelsey J. Greetings, beans Queens. I love your sanity giving podcast. I don't know what we do without you. Dana mentioned the fundraiser for Altadena fire victims. I have a self shout out for how I'm helping two kids that had their house burned down. Oh my gosh. I had made both kids grandkids of a friend of mine. Quilts. A couple of years ago, I asked the boy and girl their favorite colors and used those colors in the design.
Dana Goldberg
Nice.
Allison Gill
Fast forward to the fire. They lost everything except a Dutch oven that survived the hellish fire. The kids aged 10 and 12 are traumatized like all the kids are. I'd asked my friend if I could remake the quilts and if so, if the kids would like any changes. The family was thrilled. They asked the kids about the changes, but they would like them the same design with the same fabric. Don't change anything if possible. I dug through my fabric stash and found some fabric from the original quilts and was able to blend them in with some new fabric.
Dana Goldberg
Wow.
Allison Gill
One is done and I'm finishing up the other one. And I want to thank Dana for helping her friend. We need to remember these fire victims and do what we can to help them. We did donate money to the family, but I think these quilts will give these kids something to hang on to this.
Dana Goldberg
These are gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous, Kelsey. And for you being able to remake them and them saying don't change anything, that's huge.
Allison Gill
It's amazing. Thank you for that.
Dana Goldberg
Yep. This one's from Gary. Pronouns he and him. After you talked about pilated woodpeckers the last few days, one came to our feeder this morning.
Allison Gill
Oh, I think it's pileated.
Dana Goldberg
Pileated.
Allison Gill
I could be wrong, though.
Dana Goldberg
No, I think we've gone through this and you're right. I'm sure there was a correction. I just like the pilated.
Allison Gill
The red mohawk reminds me of the blue guy from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Dana Goldberg
There you go. Pileated. And next up, we have from Gary s pronouns, he and him. When filing a complaint with the Florida bar, it would be very useful to review the professional rules, as this must be cited as the reason for the complaint. We are going to give a link to the show notes. Very good point, Gary. It would not do the simple file quote Bondi bad, though prima faci. True. It will get the complaint bounced. This is one time we do not want to clog up the stream, but increase the pressure. Okay. Please enjoy the picture of my mom and dad on their third date in 1947ish.
Allison Gill
Oh, wow.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. And maybe rule 4.8.4 applies, and I quote, a lawyer shall not engage in conduct in connection with the practice of law that is prejudicial to the administration of justice, including to knowingly or through callous indifference, disparage, humiliate, or discriminate against litigants, jurors, witnesses, court personnel or other lawyers on any basis, including but not limited to an account of race and ethnicity, gender, religion, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, employment or physical characteristic. And that is everything that Pam Bondi is doing all the time. All the time.
Allison Gill
Thank you, Gary. That is. That is important. Very useful to review the professional rules. And like you said, Dana, we're going to have a link to those rules in the Florida bar in the show notes. Look at this. This can't be from 1947, can it? I don't know. That seems.
Dana Goldberg
I don't think that's from 1947, but.
Allison Gill
It looks like the 70s. Yeah, I guess it's possible I could be wrong. I could be. I could be very wrong. But it's fantastic. Third date. Thanks, Gary. Note from Kanai.
Dana Goldberg
Kanai is just saying that he feels like most of the lawyers in Trump's DOJ ought to be disbarred based on that criteria.
Allison Gill
Yeah, which is pretty much exactly what you said. Thanks for that so much, Gary. We appreciate it. Next up from Anonymous. Hi there Beans. Just a shout out to Planned Parenthood. A few years ago I started to have disturbing symptoms and found myself making multiple trips to the error, always with the discharge instructions to follow up with a GYN within 24 hours. I made an appointment but could not get in for weeks and had increasing symptoms but could not be seen. Earlier though I had increasing symptoms, I made an appointment with Planned Parenthood. I was seen the same day. I was treated respectfully and quickly and gave samples for testing. Later I visited my GYN for similar testing. I received differing results from both practices and followed up with with a cancer specialist. The testing I received from Planned Parenthood correctly identified my cancer as an incredibly rare cancer and I had just had the testing from private practice and proceeded with chemo. I have no doubt I would have died as this type of cancer does not respond to chemo. Wow. The doctor from Planned Parenthood called me himself periodically to follow my treatment and guide me through this process and offer advice everyone needs to know. Planned Parenthood saves lives. My tax, my loyal mutt. Jeepers. We rescued her as an adult and she was forever grateful for a little paranormal twist. I sat with her one day while in recovery telling her that my kids were too young and as a single parent I could not leave them. I asked her to take my cancer faithfully. She grew a huge tumor and died within six months and I am still cancer free. Here she is, an unbelievable Jack Russell and boxer mix.
Dana Goldberg
Oh man, that story.
Allison Gill
That gave me chills. Yep, I wow. Thank you for that. Anonymous I remember when I was a kid, when I was born, my dad and mom had a an old English sheepdog named Ollie. And when I was a baby, Ollie lunged at me and my mom and dad went to the vet and said what do we do? And he's like just keep a close eye. But if the dog attacks your daughter again, we'll probably have to put the dog to sleep. Yeah, this is the 70s, right? This is how it was handled. And so again the dog this time bit me and I had to have a couple of stitches on my face. And so my dad was beside himself because this was my dad's dog, you know, that he had when he met my mom. And so they called the vet and the, the, they were like, I can't, I can't bring the dog in. I just physically can't do it. Right. And so the vet said, well, I can come to the house. And my parents were like, okay, we'll be out of town in Florida. And maybe that's better for Ally, me as a, as a baby, as a youngster to not, you know, to go away for a week and come back and maybe not notice that the dog is gone. And so we went out of town and when we got back, the dog wasn't there. And my mom called the vet and asked how everything went. And the doctor was like, you're not going to believe this. I had the. I came and picked up the dog and brought it to my practice and I was going to, to put the dog to sleep the next day. And that night the dog died in, in its sleep of a congenital heart defect. And I don't know to this day if that is a tale that the vet told my parents to maybe, I don't know, alleviate some guilt from them.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
Off of it. But there's good angels.
Dana Goldberg
There's good angels in this world. And little white lies sometimes is not, not such a bad thing when you can save someone from a, a deep amount of pain.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And so when Anonymous told me that story about their Jack Russell and my dad's great Pyrenees, he did the same creative visualizations with his cancer. He was able to live with pancreatic cancer for five years. Four years.
Dana Goldberg
Wow.
Allison Gill
Which is a long time for pancreatic cancer doing those creative visualizations with the dog, taking the cancer away. So we don't, we don't deserve dogs.
Dana Goldberg
Animals over people sometimes, I'll tell you that.
Allison Gill
Thank you so much all for your good news. I really needed that boost after all the news in the Hot notes. Oh my goodness. Hopefully we'll have some a better split of good news and bad news when we talk again on Monday. Do you have any final thoughts? Maybe talk about your show one more time? People need to get out and laugh.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. If anyone still in the LA area has not got tickets to my show, I'm actually opening for Gina Ashore on Saturday at the Regent Theater. You can get tickets on my website, danagoldberg.com hit appearances. First one there and it's going to be a night of laughter and music and probably some healing. You know, Gina lost her house in the Altadena fire and she, she could use some healing too. So if you already have tickets, you're going to be there, hang around, make sure you find me. I I love meeting the Beans listeners and fans and it's part of my gig. So yeah, I'd love to see you. All right.
Allison Gill
And please, my friend, have, you know, take care laugh this weekend. Thank you. And everybody, you do the same. We'll be back in your ears Monday. Until then, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health and take care of your family. The Daily Beans – Episode Summary: Marjorie Taser Greene (feat. John Fugelsang) Release Date: April 18, 2025
Introduction In this episode of The Daily Beans, hosts Allison Gill and Dana Goldberg delve into a myriad of pressing political and social issues, all delivered with their trademark blend of progressive insight and snark. Featuring a special guest appearance by comedian and activist John Fugelsang, this episode unpacks everything from Supreme Court rulings to controversial town halls, providing listeners with a comprehensive overview of the latest developments shaping the political landscape.
1. Judicial Decisions and Political Battles
a. Fourth Circuit Court Rejects Trump’s Bid on Abrego Garcia Case [00:00-08:22] Allison Gill opens the episode with significant legal news: the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has dismissed former President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn Judge Sinis's order concerning the return of Abrego Garcia. Gill highlights the unanimous decision, emphasizing the court's stance against what they describe as the "extraordinary and premature" relief sought by the Trump administration. She praises Judge Wilkinson’s opinion, labeling it as one of the best she's read, and underscores the court's refusal to "micromanage" the district judge’s efforts to implement the Supreme Court’s decisions.
b. Supreme Court to Hear Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Case [14:01-15:57] The hosts discuss the Supreme Court’s agreement to hear Trump’s case on birthright citizenship, following nationwide injunctions that halt the implementation of Trump’s executive order. They express concerns over the potential implications, fearing that the Supreme Court might restrict district courts from issuing nationwide injunctions, thereby forcing individuals to fight for their citizenship state by state.
2. Transgender Athletes and Legal Disputes
a. Trump Administration Sues Maine Over Transgender Athletes [01:12-18:16] Allison and Dana fervently critique the Trump administration’s lawsuit against Maine, arguing that the administration is overreaching by targeting only two transgender athletes in the state. They condemn the lawsuit as a “despicable” act and applaud Maine Governor Janet Mills for standing up against federal pressure, viewing her resistance as a potential precedent for future battles over transgender rights in sports.
