Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Today, new data show less than 14% of those arrested by ICE are violent criminals. Trump's Justice Department is seeking to dismiss Bannon's contempt conviction. Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyer says she will clear Trump's name if he pardons her. ICE Eyes Social Circle, Georgia, for its next massive concentration camp. And in something that I couldn't make up if I tried, attendees of a March for Life rally have been exposed to the measles. I'm Allison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Allison Gill
Dana. I would be kicked straight out of a comedy writer's room if I tried to come in with a story about a March for Life rally that ended up having a measles outbreak. I would thrown the out.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, they'd be like, not too on the nose. We need something more. Yeah, it would. I mean, not surprising, though. I'm. I'm not surprised at all.
Allison Gill
They would say that's a lazy joke, Allison. Yeah, it's just lazy. It's just too obviously ridiculous. But here we are, so we're going to talk about that. First of all, thank you for covering for me yesterday.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my gosh, of course.
Allison Gill
Happy to be back with you today. I am coming to you from Arizona, visiting my mom out here and doing a little birthday celebration for her. Also watching the super bowl. And we're going to talk about that a lot over on the Beans Talk today, a lot of what happened during the super bowl, which I thought was pretty incredible, and I'm really glad that I got a chance to watch it. But yesterday while I was gone on the show, you covered the fact that members of Congress are getting to review the unredacted Epstein files. And there's been more coming out today, including, I think it was Raskin, confirming that some of these victims are as young as nine years old. And that obviously, as we knew, a lot of these are inappropriate redactions and so I think over the coming. First of all, I thought you're going to view all 3 million, which is only half of the Epstein files, and you have to review them in person, like in a SCIF or whatever at the Justice Department. You're not going to be able to see them all. And they in fact said, Raskin said today it would take seven years to review everything that's in here. And this is only half.
Dana Goldberg
Wow.
Allison Gill
Of what's been released.
Dana Goldberg
So.
Allison Gill
But just absolutely abhorrent and horrific behavior, as we knew. Right, Dana? But to have it confirmed, have it. People see it with their own eyes is something else.
Dana Goldberg
There was also an unredacted email that Trump, even though Epstein was never a member of Mar A Lago, he was a very welcome guest and Trump never threw him out, which is obviously in direct opposition to what Trump's been saying over and over and over that he threw him out of his club after he stole Virginia Giuffri from him. So. Mm. You know, all of this stuff, I think the big thing is like, okay, now what. What are the fucking consequences going to be? I think that's what all of us are sitting here going like, we already know. It's very clear the other side doesn't want to believe it. That's fine. This is all the evidence we need. Oh, and we've got the victim's testimony under oath. So how about that? Now what? Like, I want some arrests, I want some court hearings, I want there to be consequences. I'm. It's infuriating. Yeah.
Allison Gill
Well, until we get the House and the Senate back and get the gavel and get the majority in the committees that can investigate and have subpoena power, we're not going to see any accountability from Congress because of Republicans stonewalling. And until we get an attorney general in the Department of Justice that is not Pam Bondi, I mean, literally, probably anybody but Merrick Garland would probably do a better job at going after the people in the Epstein files. He had an open and ongoing investigation that Trump shut down when he got there in January 2020 in the southern District of New York. But, like, until we get that, you know, elections have consequences, man. And we just aren't going to see the consequences of 30 years of this cover up bullshit from different administrations across the board.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, agreed.
Allison Gill
Until we can get people in Congress who vow to do this and not just whatever specific party, but somebody, you know, people who vow to hold these folks accountable and we have to work toward that day. And in the meantime, the consequences have to be political. And that's kind of the best that we can hope for and result in the kind of elections that we need to actually have the power to seek accountability. And you know, I think when we talk about, when we talk about all of the issues that are going on in this administration, it's just so overwhelming that we can barely, barely keep up. And you know, I got a little bit of a piece of that when I interviewed Andrew Bakai, the lawyer for that Tulsi Gabbard whistleblower. She's been covering up a phone call at the nsa. And so thank you everybody who watched that interview is probably one of the most important interviews I've, I think I've, I've done. But it's over on Mueller, she wrote.com if you want to check it out. But there's just so much like Raskin said, we could look at these Epstein files for seven years and not see them all. We could spend the next generation trying to hold this administration accountable for its crimes and never, ever see the end of it.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Allison Gill
But that's not going to stop me from trying.
Dana Goldberg
Nope. None of us.
Allison Gill
We have a lot of news to get to today, so let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes. First up from CBS, less than 14% of nearly 400,000 immigrants arrested by ICE in Trump's first year back in the White House have charges or convictions for violent criminal offenses. And that's according to an internal Department of Homeland Security document obtained by CBS News. This is their own audit of themselves. The official statistics contained in a DHS document, which has not been previously reported publicly, provide the most detailed look yet into who ICE has arrested during the Trump administration's far reaching deportation operations across the U.S. the internal DHS figures undermine frequent assertions by the Trump administration that its crackdown on illegal immigration is targeting dangerous and violent criminals living in the US illegally, people Mr. Trump and his lieutenants have regularly referred to as the worst of the worst. Now, the statistics show ICE has dramatically increased arrests since Trump's return. Nearly 60% of ICE arrestees over the past year had criminal charges or convictions, the document indicates. But among that population, the majority of the criminal charges are not violent crimes. For example, when Trump and his aides often talk about immigration officials targeting murderers, rapists and gangsters, the internal data indicates that less than 2% of those arrested by ICE over the past year have homicide or sexual assault charges or convictions. Less than 2%, another 2% of those taken into ICE custody were accused of being gang members. 2%. Nearly 40% of all those arrested in the first year back in office did not have any criminal record at all and were only accused of civil immigration offenses like living in the US Illegally or overstaying their permission to be in the country. Those alleged violations of U.S. immigration law are typically adjudicated by Justice Department immigration judges in civil, not criminal proceedings. So when Republicans say if you come here illegally, you're a criminal, that is untrue. These are civil proceedings, not criminal.
Dana Goldberg
Right.
Allison Gill
While Mr. Trump's deportation program enjoyed majority support during the 2024 campaign and in his early months in office, public opposition to this crackdown has grown significantly because of concerns about agents tactics, especially in cities like Minneapolis and over who is being swept up by the operations. A CBS News poll last month found that Americans support for Trump's deportation efforts had fallen to 46%, down from 59% at the start of his second term. Just over 60% of those surveyed said immigration agents are being too tough. So that's 2% are gang members and less than 2% are murderers and rapists.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, there's more than that probably. And I'd hate to probably an ice. I mean if I had to, if I had to guess.
Allison Gill
There are the actual. The crime rates among CBP officers themselves are higher than that of immigrants, as are the crime rates of Trump's cabinet and the crime rates of January 6th. People who were pardoned. Yeah, all higher.
Dana Goldberg
All right, thanks, Allison. This one's from Politico. The just speaking of just a disgusting human. And this is not Politico, but the Justice Department is seeking to erase the criminal conviction of longtime Trump adviser Steve Bannon for defying a 2021 subpoena from congressional investigators probing his role in the January 6th attack on the Capitol. In a motion signed by US Attorney I still want to call her box of wine even though someone told me she was sober. I don't buy it. Jeanine Pirro and without the signature of any career prosecutors, no career prosecutors would sign this. The Justice Department asked U.S. judge Carl Nichols to dismiss the two count indictment that the DOJ brought against Bannon more than four years ago. Nichols, who is a Trump appointee, presided over a week long jury trial of Bannon in 2022 that resulted in his conviction on criminal contempt charges. Federal prosecutors brought those charges in November of 2021 after the Democratic led House voted to hold Bannon in contempt. The January 6 select committee convened that year by Speaker Nancy Pelosi had subpoenaed Bannon to describe his contacts with key organizers of January 6th rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol that day. They also hope to learn details about his contacts with President Trump in his effort to subvert the results of the 2020 election. The end of the case is in some ways just symbolic. Bannon already served a four month prison sentence in 2024 for his conviction on the charges, but he has appealed his conviction to the Supreme Court, which was awaiting a response from the Justice Department before Monday's move by Piro. If Nichols grants the motion to dismiss, it would likely end the pending Supreme Court case and erase bandage jury conviction. Again, this was a jury conviction. It wasn't just a judge deciding now. Solicitor General John Sauer confirmed this goal in a brief filing to the justices Monday. And I quote, the government has determined in its prosecutorial discretion that dismissal of this criminal case is in the interest of justice. This is from Sauer. This is what he wrote, asking the justices to effectively erase lower court rulings that upheld Bannon's conviction and a conviction by the jury of his fucking peers. How about that? A spokesperson for the Justice Department didn't immediately respond for a request for comment.
Allison Gill
I hope the judge. I know he's a Trump appointed judge, Judge Nichols, but I hope he's like, man, if you want to erase this, you're gonna have to pardon him.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, I hope so, too. Speaking of, this isn't the only fucking case that's pissing me off, Allison. It's the next one you're about to bring us. This one's making me even angrier.
Allison Gill
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the fact that the lawyer. Let me just get into it here. This is Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking minors, sent a clear message to Donald Trump Monday that if you were to grant her clemency, she would clear his name of any wrongdoing as it pertains to Epstein. So she can't.
Dana Goldberg
Otherwise. Yeah, why not do it now? I mean, if you can clear him. Clear him. He's the guy that keeps his promises. Why not just give us what we want?
Allison Gill
I mean, my God. All right. The extraordinary overture stated by Maxwell's lawyer Monday morning during her virtual deposition before House Oversight ensures the Epstein saga will continue to remain a political hotspot. Quote, Ms. Maxwell is prepared to speak fully and honestly of granted clemency by Trump attorney David Oscar Marcus, who I've argued with on Twitter, said in a statement during the deposition, which he later posted on Twitter, only she can provide the complete account. Some may not like what they hear, but the truth matters. For example, both President Trump and President Clinton are innocent of any wrongdoing. Marcus also said that Ms. Maxwell alone can explain why, and the public is entitled to that explanation. But we're not going to tell you the truth unless we get a pardon for the actual crime she committed.
Dana Goldberg
Okay?
Allison Gill
I added that bit to the end. Trump has not ruled out the possibility of pardoning Maxwell or commuting her sentence. Trump and Clinton, who appear throughout the files released by doj, have denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein. House Oversight Chair Jim Comer called Maxwell's decision to plead the Fifth disappointing and said lawmakers had many questions to ask about the crimes she and Epstein committed, as well as questions about potential co conspirators. Democrats on the committee accused Maxwell of trying to buy her clemency by refusing to testify. Quote, we will not allow this silence to stand. That's Rep. Melanie Stansbury. When asked if he would subpoena Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick as part of the probe. Jamie Comer said he was going to focus on five depositions that he has coming up. So, no, we're not going to go after anybody in the Trump cabinet. We're going to drag the Clintons in. The Clintons are expected to appear behind closed doors later this month for depositions. I think the 26th and 27th February, respectively.
Dana Goldberg
I still will be shocked if they don't cancel them. I mean, the Republicans, if they don't post out on this.
Allison Gill
But they're doing it behind closed doors. They don't really have any.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, I thought they were doing it. Cameras, open door. Otherwise the Clintons weren't going to testify.
Allison Gill
No, Clintons are still going to testify behind closed doors, but they are urging a public testimony. They won't get it. Comer won't give it to him.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, jeez.
Allison Gill
They'll drag, they'll drag him.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Okay. Thank you, Allison. This one's from npr. Health officials are warning that confirmed cases of measles may have spread at where this year's national March for Life rally concert in Washington, D.C. now, I'm not laughing at people getting measles, but I am laughing at the, just the hypocrisy and the, you know, I'm laughing at people that might be getting meatballs at a, at a March for Life that don't seem to care about the life of children or people in this country. You know what I mean? Make America healthy again. Thousands of anti abortion demonstrators converged upon the National Mall and other locations in this nation's capital for the annual event at the end of January. The D.C. department of Health says it's working to identify people who are at risk. Quote DC Health was notified of multiple confirmed cases of measles whose carriers visited multiple locations in the District while contagious. This is what the agency said in press release on Sunday. DC Health is informing people who were at these locations that there may have been exposed. Potential exposure sites from January 21 to February 2 include major transit such as Ronald Reagan, Washington National Airport, Union Station, Amtrak, Northeast Regional Train and DC Subway System. That's according to the DC Health and that sounds like a lot of people. The agency says infected individuals also visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. And Catholic University Children's National Hospital issued a public health notice concerning potential exposure in its emergency department. The notice said a Virginia resident who was confirmed to have measles visited the department while contagious on February 2. The US is dealing with its biggest measles outbreak in decades. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 733 confirmed measles cases in 20 states so far this year alone. As of last Thursday. According to CDC, 95% of the cases involve people who are unvaccinated or their vaccination status is unknown. South Carolina's outbreak started in October of 2025 and quickly surpassed an outbreak in Texas. Cases in South Carolina continue to grow. The Department of Public Health reported 44 new confirmed cases on Friday, bringing the total in the state to 920. Earlier last week, officials in the state reported that the rate of new confirmed cases has slowed. They warned that people may have been exposed in this latest round of new cases in several locations, including a Target store in the Taylors of South Carolina and Social Security administration in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The outbreak is centered in Spartanburg. Now DC's health department is advising anyone possibly exposed who is not fully vaccinated or has a compromised immune system to contact the health department or healthcare provider.
Allison Gill
And that's the thing that that pisses me off. Right. Fuck these March for life people who just didn't get vaccinated or whatever. But it's the people who can't get the vaccine or immunocompromised that are put at risk by these idiots that piss me off.
Dana Goldberg
Absolutely, 100% agree.
Allison Gill
Kids like, oh my God, like it should be. I don't know, you don't get to travel.
Dana Goldberg
I, I mean, I know that sounds like a crazy thing to say, but if you want to be a state that says you don't have to get vaccinated for measles. And you've got kids running around measles. You don't get to travel.
Allison Gill
I don't know.
Dana Goldberg
I don't know how to do that.
Allison Gill
Do they even know?
Dana Goldberg
I mean, I don't know. It's just, I, I don't know what the fix is.
Allison Gill
Putin is very happy about this.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, no kidding.
Allison Gill

Anything at all that'll bring a smile to our face. Send it to us dailybeanspod.com and click on contact. First up is your good trou. Today's good Trouble says Minneapolis designer Abby Haticin has made a free font called Times New Resistance. Nice. A Times New Roman impersonator that autocorrects the autocrats. Times New Resistance autocorrects specific words as they're typed. For example, the word ICE autocorrects to the Goon Squad. The word Trump autocorrects to Donald Trump is a felon.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God. This is amazing.
Allison Gill
To the untrained eye, Times New Resistance looks just like Times New Roman. When you install the font, it will appear in your font menu as Times Roman, with an extra space between the words times and new. So maybe that Trump or ICE supporter in your life needs help installing new fonts.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God.
Allison Gill
There's a list of autocorrections. Kristi Noem turns into Kristi Gnome Killed a Puppy Make America Great Again turns into Maga is a Cult.
Dana Goldberg
How do you do this?
Allison Gill
Mar a Lago turns into the fourth Circle of Hell. So if you install Times New Roman on maybe that family member, that special family member's phone, every time they try to type these words using that font, the GOP turns into the kkk.
Dana Goldberg
Times New Resistance. This is brilliant.
Allison Gill
I love it. Thank you for that bit of good trouble. Appreciate it.
Dana Goldberg
Yes, this is from Anonymous Pronuncia and her hello dear ladies of the Beans. I'd like to share a resource that may help others better understand their rights and the bigger picture Legal Questions facing Country about three years ago I decided to enroll in law school in my 40s to pursue a career shift. Nothing like trying to learn the law and rules of professional responsibility while the administration flaunts and ignores them. I enrolled in a part time program at Mitchell Hamlin School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. They've kept our school community wonderfully updated during the ICE surge and have used their resources as a law school to put together a resource page for students, lawyers and the public regarding the laws and individuals rights at issue. I'm sharing it here. We're going to have a link to this in the show. Notes what is going on? Legal analysis and resources related to the federal enforcement surge in Minnesota as a resource for those who want to better understand the legal underpinnings of current issues directly from law professors and links to many resources that can be helpful for those of us looking to get into good trouble and for those concerned about the rights as immigrants in the US My POD Pet tariff I've attached a Picture of my husband and our dog Charlie, who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. Charlie was the bestest boy. So is my husband. They say people look like their pets. And indeed my husband and dog have the same hair. Black, curly hair that over time became more interspersed with gray for both the dog and the man. If you want to guess Charlie's breed, you're welcome to try. He was a rescue, so we have no real clue, but our guess is a blank. Think. Thank you, ladies, for all you do to keep us informed and share good trouble.
Allison Gill
Okay, I. At first I thought that was a top knot on the husband's head. It's a dog.
Dana Goldberg
That's very funny.
Allison Gill
Oh, my goodness. Look at this guy. Looks like part poodle for sure. Right?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. And dachshund.
Allison Gill
I don't know. He looks kind of gentlemanly, like schnauzerly.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, maybe Schnauzer terrier.
Allison Gill
Ish. And he's very long. You're right. Let's see. We have a poodle. Dachshund. Schnauzer mix. Oh, my goodness.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God. We were. Well, I think we were very, very right.
Allison Gill
We were right. Yeah.
Dana Goldberg
There you go.
Allison Gill
We did it. Wonder Twin powers activate. Dana.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Form of a what? The mutt?
Allison Gill
Yes. Form of a cute dog. Thank you so much for that and for giving us that dog that we got right now. We feel totally better about ourselves on this Monday afternoon as we record next BD pronoun. She and her. Hi there, ladies. I start every morning with you as a librarian. I love that you cite where you get your stories. A question for you and your other listeners. Does anyone know of an organization that's taking donations to help people get either their passport or real id? This would help people who are being unnecessarily pulled out of their cars, et cetera, to show proof of citizenship, but also looking down the road toward November in case the SAVE act somehow gets passed and people need to prove citizenship in order to vote. Vote. I myself don't have it in me to even contemplate how to begin such an enterprise. I have a full time job teaching little kiddos library science. That's very cool. And then I worked as a children's reference librarian evenings and weekends. I'm turning 65 this year, so I don't have a lot of free time, not a lot of energy, and no brain space left. Do your listeners have any suggestions? As for my pod pet tariff, I've rescued lots of stray and abandoned kitties over the years and at one point had 10 living under my roof with me. Now I'm down to just one dude who's going on 18. My last man standing loves to drink running water. I bought him a large fancy waterfall water dish but he still prefers to just drink out of my bathroom sink and when he's done he just curls up right on in there and goes to sleep. Oh by the way, producers note here one 501c3 organization we found was iDignity.org iDignity assists US citizens and legal residents in obtaining Florida ID cards and licenses, US birth certificates, Social Security security cards and other documents needed to acquire an ID license, including the replacement of citizenship and immigration documents. There's no charge for our services for those in need that's specific to Florida. If any listeners know of similar organizations, please let us know. And dear producers, didn't we have someone on who had a non profit to help get people other ID cards for voting? I'm going to look into that but that's a really great question. And look at this 18 year old boy in the sink.
Dana Goldberg
Sweet baby.
Allison Gill
Oh the last man standing. I love him. Thank you for that.
Dana Goldberg
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is from SSA Resistor. No pronouns given. Thank you ladies for giving me the news without losing hope. I appreciate you both so much. I even listened while resettling my family abroad before ICE crashed into my city. Being back in Minnesota is hard. You get nervous and angry. Every SUV with blacked out windows and there's a lot of there are sad stories everywhere every day. So many friends of ours ripped from their families and so many stuck inside. It's soul crushing. So today I want to share more good news with Minnesota. These stories rejuvenate my soul and hopefully yours. We all have more power than our oppressors want us to believe. We have to keep showing up. I included links for the two news stories. The first one Minneapolis City Council is delaying the renewal of liquor licenses for two hotels that are housing ICE agents, exercising local power and hitting ICE supporters where it hurts. We covered that right here in the beans. Second one Ramsey county is prosecuting January 6th pardoned loser Jake Lang for destroying a Prosecute ice ice sculpture built by veterans in front of Minnesota Capitol. Local government standing up for veterans and art. Hell yeah, we covered that yesterday on the beans talk. And man, what an embarrassing video by the way of that jackass.
Allison Gill
Yep.
Dana Goldberg
And then three Yesterday while I was buying groceries for friends, I noticed an older couple at my local Mexican grocery store store. They both had their phones out at the deli counter reading unfamiliar Items off a list. It seems they were buying groceries for neighbors.
Allison Gill
Oh my.
Dana Goldberg
They did their best to pronounce what they were ordering, and the folks behind the counter did their best to understand. Throughout the store, customers and employees alike helped this couple find all the items on their list. This is community. This is loving your neighbor. This is the Minnesota I love. This is how we survive this message. So stay hopeful, ladies. These small acts are making a difference. For my pod pet tariff, a photo of my blank Ellie on her first birthday, patiently waiting to attack her new toy. She just turned 13 years old. I also attached a photo of the prosecute ice sculpture before it was damaged. Oh my God. Look at this baby.
Allison Gill
A Wheaton terrier is what it looks like to me, but I could be wrong.
Dana Goldberg
No, you might be right. Right?
Allison Gill
It's a Lakeland terrier.
Dana Goldberg
Well, you were very, very close.
Allison Gill
God loves a terrier. Rest in peace, Catherine o'. Hara.
Dana Goldberg
By the way, I don't think this Prosecute ice sculpture got enough credit. I mean, forget this jackass that destroyed it. It is really impressive.
Allison Gill
It really is.
Dana Goldberg
It really is.
Allison Gill
And it's so cold there that it stayed for a while.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Extraordinary picture.
Allison Gill
Yeah, thank you so much for that. And thanks for those two great news stories in one. We appreciate you you. Next up, Trish Pronoun. She and her from Richfield. Hi Beans, Queens. I've been a listener for a few years now, but never really wrote in until now. I have some good news and I wanted to share a way for fellow listeners to help those in the Minneapolis area. A month ago I had no desire to download signal but the day Renee Goode was murdered, I downloaded the app and started learning all about the rapid response world that was going on in our city. I live in Richfield, a first ring suburb just south of Minneapolis and we've been hit hard by ice. You've all seen the video of the two boys taken from my local target. And while Belvino is out, we're still seeing ice all around us. That following Monday, I attended my first small group meeting with other community members already working to create a network to help families within our city who've been directly impacted by Metro surge. Since then, I've jumped into a lead role working on connecting volunteers to fulfill families needs. It's been so rewarding and encouraging to see how much support we have within our community to help our neighbors in need. Whether that's school patrol, mutual aid efforts, rides to work. We're all stepping up and helping each other. And while we're all Exhausted, we've grown closer as a community meeting neighbors we never knew we had before and that's one bright spot in this whole clusterfuck. Currently our biggest request to need is to help with rent and utility bills. Check out the good work we do and help if you can@richfieldleadershipnetwork.com we'll have a link in the show notes a podpat tariff is my dog Sprinkles. We got her on my birthday when she was 3 1/2 months old and is my first dog ever. Also including a picture of my vehicle right now filled with activity bags for kids that my work put together thanks to donations from employees. I cannot wait to share these with our families and hope these new games and toys can help bring some joy. Oh my goodness.
Dana Goldberg
Oh that baby. Look at that face.
Allison Gill
Oh my goodness. Just truly incredible. Everyone coming together. As I was reading this, I was wondering if maybe somebody from your groups was at that store from our last submission trying to get that order filled and having everybody in the store help them. Neighbors helping neighbors. That super bowl commercial, by the way, the won't you be my neighbor? Yeah, just. And I. I'd watched that Gaga video before. Like I knew it was coming, but what they did with it was just really I, you know, brought some tears to my eyes. So thanks for all you're doing.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. All right. This is from Anonymous, pronounced She and her AG and dg. You are a light in this world that gives me some joy each day. While the news is bleak, I appreciate the many years of good listening. I remember way back when AG teased that she might do a daily podcast and I couldn't wait. Now I can't live without it. I wanted to share how happy I am to have moved to a beautiful blue state after more than 25 years of being disappointed in deep red Texas. Less than a year ago, I moved back to New Mexico. I really can't believe how life changing that move has proven to be. Instead of being heartbroken time and time again, I'm now able to rejoice as I tell people that we have free child care, college tuition paid if you graduate in state, and we are about to pass legislation that will ban ICE detention centers and it's specifically those ones having a federal government contract. Also, how did I ever live without mountains? I wanted to leave you all with my current mantra, you will not break me. For those of you that have not read Dungeon Crawler Carl yet, do it. It's an amazing series and much deeper than you might think you will not break me is the catchphrase for the main character. And I feel it every day. As pod pet tariff, I give you my dog Poppy and our cats. Poppy was a pandemic pound puppy and is a mix of three breeds. The cat, Mr. Crowley will not leave her alone. While we worry coyotes may get him, he is thriving in New Mexico. The other cat is Kaiser. Kaiser Soze, AKA Fatocado or Kai. Kai. He's hitting the nip in this pic.
Allison Gill
Yeah, he is.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God. That is a high kitty.
Allison Gill
Holy shit. Look at him.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God. It's fucking funny. Poppy is a. What do you think? This sweet dog is a German shepherd healer mix.
Allison Gill

Dana Goldberg
I love that we often disagree on these because I know chow a year.
Allison Gill

Dana Goldberg

Allison Gill
Okay, Britney spaniel is where we get the spots and the.
Dana Goldberg

The episode maintains an engaging back-and-forth as Allison and Dana alternate stories, layering data with skeptical critique. They balance emotional reactions—anger, frustration, dry laughter—with calls to action and spotlights on community resilience.
Their signature tone is irreverent yet earnest, sometimes bordering on gallows humor but always circling back to “the work” and hope.
Despite bleak national stories, Allison and Dana—and their listeners—continue to foster hope through organizing, advocacy, and daily actions. They close with reminders for self-care, mutual support, and continued resistance: “You will not break me.” (listener quote, 34:46)
