Allison Gill
And thank you, MSW Media. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Thursday, January 8, 2026. Today we're going to be covering everything we know so far about what happened in Minneapolis on Portland Avenue between 33rd and 34th Streets where an ICE agent murdered 37 year old Renee Nicole Good when he opened fire into her vehicle as she was driving away. I'm Allison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Allison Gill
Hey Dana. This was a hell of a day of news.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. The story is horrifying. It's being bastardized in the news by our administration and lied about. So we are going to do everything we can to bring you the truth as it stands right now with the information we have about the story. So obviously there is a trigger warning for this whole episode. A woman was murdered today in Minneapolis. That's the truth of it. By an ICE agent.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And anybody who's seen the videos knows that. So if anyone's saying, oh, it's unclear what happened, I disagree.
Dana Goldberg
Personally, I disagree as well. And the administration is lying about the videos that are out. They are lying about what happened. And thank God people were there with cameras. Thank God people were filming. And some reputable news organizations at least are reporting the truth. The truth of it.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And so we're going to do things a little differently today because of the heaviness of this news. I think today is a flash point in history. I think this is a very important day, historically speaking. I think the news out of Minneapolis is going in the coming days and weeks and even years. I think that this news is going to be of incredible historic importance and there's so much to discuss. We want to focus today's show only on this news, this murder of Renee Nicole Goode, the 37 year old ice observer. I think it's that important. So all of the other breaking news that happened today we're going to be discussing on Friday's Daily Beans. So the New York Times, Dana, is reporting that state and local officials demanded an end to the Trump administration's immigration crackdown in Minnesota after a federal officer shot and killed a 37 year old woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Now, the Times says that the details remain in dispute, but I do not see it that way. As I said at the top of the show, Dana, President Trump says the agents acted in self defense, while state and local officials describe federal accounts of the shooting with terms like propaganda and garbage. That's the side I'm on, the side of the truth.
Dana Goldberg
Absolutely.
Allison Gill
Now, Trisha McLaughlin, known liar, department of Homeland Security spokeswoman said in a statement that the agent had opened fire after a woman weaponized her vehicle in an attempt to kill federal officers. While the Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem described the incident as an act of domestic terrorism. She also said the agents were caught in the snow and busy trying to free their vehicle of the snow when this woman drove at them to try to murder them. Now, Mayor Jacob Fry called that account bullshit, describing the shooting instead as, quote, an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, somebody getting killed. Governor Tim Walls of Minnesota posted on social media, don't believe this propaganda machine. In an afternoon news conference, the governor said the shooting was predictable. Quote, we've been warning about this for weeks that the Trump administration's dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to our public safety. He also added that it cost a person her life. He directly addressed The President and Ms. Noem, telling them to go home, you've done enough. Now, three videos of the shooting posted on social media verified by the New York Times show two federal agents trying to get a woman to exit the vehicle. Kind of, they were actually pulling open the door and reaching in to open the door from the inside. The driver reverses, then pulls forward and begins to turn slowly. A third agent pulls out a gun and fired a shot and then continued firing as the vehicle moved past him. Victim has been identified as 37 year old, a white woman named Renee Nicole Goode. And I know that many outlets are adamant about reporting that she's a US Citizen, but I just want to remind everyone that the Constitution protects everyone here.
Dana Goldberg
Absolutely.
Allison Gill
So I don't think her designation as a citizen is relevant now. Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat whose congressional district includes the shooting scene, described the person as a legal observer. The Minneapolis Police chief, Brian o', Hara, said there Was, quote, nothing to indicate that this woman was a target of any law enforcement investigation or activity. Governor Walz asked for people to protest peacefully as about 1,000 people gathered at the scene, chanting for immigration agents to leave and throwing snowballs at the police car. Mr. Walls said the state's National Guard troops are prepared to deploy if protests got out of hand. The shooting was about a mile from where George Floyd was killed by the police in 2020. It's actually 0.4 miles. According to journalists on the ground, about 2,000 federal agents are expected to take part in the immigration enforcement operation, which could last for weeks, according to the Trump administration. Federal officials have framed the crackdown as a response to illegal immigration and widespread fraud in the state social services system. Not sure why you need armed fucking goons to respond to white collar crimes, but okay. Federal agents enforcing immigration laws have been involved in several shootings in recent months. We'll talk about that in a minute. And that includes Chicago and Los Angeles. So, yeah, you know, I want to be clear, this isn't the first shooting.
Dana Goldberg
Thanks, Allison. And continue the story. Governor Tim Walls of Minnesota understandably has criticized the federal immigration action in his state in stark terms. But he also urged residents to protest peacefully. As you said. He said, do not take the bait. And I agree with him. Do not allow them to deploy federal troops into here. Do not allow them to invoke the Insurrection Act. Do not allow them to declare martial law. Now, Governor Walz said that protesting and speaking out to express, quote, how wrong this is was a patriotic duty. However, he said it needs to be done safely. Walz, as we know, was the Democratic nominee for Vice President 2024, just days ago ended his campaign for a third term. He's been singled out for criticism by the Trump administration for not doing more to prevent large scale fraud in Minnesota social services programs. Governor Walsh twice mentioned the protest that followed the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020 actually sparked a national protest that was mostly peaceful and lessons learned from that experience. The governor was criticized by some for not mobilizing the National Guard more quickly at that time. He also said that the shooting was totally predictable and totally avoidable. He said, we've been warning for weeks that the Trump administration's dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to our public safety, adding that today is a cost a person her life. Walz said that he had activated the state's emergency operations center and issued a warning order to prepare the Minnesota National Guard. He said, we have soldiers in training and prepared to be deployed if necessary. But he and other officials at the press conference repeatedly warned against violence. And here's what he had to say about the Trump administration to Americans who are watching this. If you're in Portland or if you're in LA or if you're in Chicago or you. Wherever they're coming next, stand with us. Stand with us against this. This was so, so preventable, so unnecessary. I don't know, I hope maybe we're at the McCarthy moment. Do you have no decency? Do you have no decency? There's someone dead in their car for no reason whatsoever. And. And I don't. I don't want to be right about this, but I said if they do this, they're gonna create a chaotic situation where someone innocent is going to get killed. And they did it.
Allison Gill
Yeah. I mean, this is just. It's with. With the Guard. Talking about the National Guard as well. Dana, the governor, in his press conference said, you know, if he deploys the National Guard or when he deploys the National Guard. He also reminded Minnesotans that this is our National Guard. These are our folks.
Dana Goldberg
Correct.
Allison Gill
Right. He said these are your community members, teachers in your community, etc. They won't be wearing masks. You know, these aren't basically like, don't treat these people like ICE agents.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
When you see them. So let's talk about the video more specifically, or videos. And this is what I mean when I say cameras out. America. Right. Canada says, elbows up. I say cameras out. I often talk about the importance of citizens taking video. And as we know, that proved instrumental in the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, which, like I said, happened less than a half a mile from the shooting in Minneapolis today. So let's talk about this video or these videos. And remember, none of these ICE agents provided medical aid after shooting this woman. They just milled about her car and touching things. And, I don't know.
Dana Goldberg
The guy who actually pulled the trigger is seen in the video walking the other way, saying, let's go.
Allison Gill
Yep. Yeah, that's against DHS policy, by the way. But here's. Let's talk about the video. These videos, verified by the New York Times, show the shooting of the woman. A maroon Honda Pilot is stopped on Portland Avenue, apparently blocking one lane of the snowy residential street. The driver rolls forward slightly, then stops and waves at approaching vehicles, signaling to go around. She tried to back out of their way. The video shows the driver wave one vehicle by when a truck flashing lights approaches. She waved again for them. To go around. But the truck stopped and federal agents got out. Two step out and move toward the driver's side. The agents tell the driver to get out. One of the agents tries to open the driver's side door and then reaches through the window to try to open it from the inside. Then a third agent crosses in front of the Honda as the driver begins to reverse, turning to drive away from the agents. Immediately after, the Honda shifts from reverse into drive and begins to move ahead slowly. That agent at the front of the vehicle, standing near the driver's side headlight, pulled out a gun and aimed at the driver. The Honda moved forward, turning to the right. The agent aiming the gun fired and continued to shoot as the vehicle moved past him. The Honda then accelerated and collided with two parked vehicles and a light post. Now, this woman was literally putting her body between ICE and her neighbors. She was an ICE observer. She was there to warn the neighborhood about the ICE operation that was happening, which is a First Amendment protected right. And Dana, I'm reading here and we kind of mentioned this at the top, this is actually the ninth ICE shooting in the last four months, is that right?
Dana Goldberg
It is. It is the ninth shooting. Now, the times in the last four months alone, actually immigration officers have fired at least nine people in five states. In Washington, D.C. all of the individuals, by the way, targeted in those shootings were like the woman killed on Wednesday, fired on while they were in their vehicles. Now, in each case, officials have claimed that the agents fired in self defense, fearing that they would be struck by the vehicle. And in several of these cases, video has shown that it was actually the opposite. Now in this case, ICE agent wasn't in another vehicle, but in every angle I've seen of this video, the car doesn't even strike him. He gets out of the way easily. At least one other person, by the way, has died as a result of these shootings. In September, immigration officers pulled over a man driving Subaru on a busy street outside Chicago. That man, who happened to be a Mexican immigrant named Silverio Vallegas Gonzalez, was shot and killed. Less than a minute minute later, Homeland Security officers and those Officials said that Mr. Viegas Gonzalez had hit and dragged one of the officers with his car and that the officer who shot him was acting in self defense. But a Times analysis of the video calls into question a lot of the key aspects of the government's account because they're lying about these. Now, the following month, the Mexican man living in Los Angeles was shot during a traffic stop where the man was targeted for Immigration enforcement. Federal officials said the man. This was Carlitos Ricardo Pereas, had tried to ram officers. This is what they said, tried to ram officers as he fled the scene. And Homeland Security officers fired shots, hitting the man in the elbow. Well, a federal marshal was struck in the hand by a ricocheted bullet. Days later, an American citizen was shot in the shoulder by an immigration agent near a bus stop in a suburb east of Los Angeles. Lawyers for that man, that's Carlos Jimenez, said that he had asked federal agents to move away from the area where school children would soon be gathering. Mr. Jimenez's lawyer said he was later shot as he was driving away. But federal prosecutors accused him of pulling forward and accelerating toward an officer. Wasn't true. Since last January, federal immigration agents have deployed across the country as part of Trump's deportation blitz, often in fast moving enforcement operations targeting individual cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans, Portland. Now, those sweeps have spurred protests that at times they have turned hostile, with protesters throwing objects at law enforcement and officers responding by firing non lethal munitions. Also. Those have also been deployed when there was peaceful protests.
Allison Gill
Right? Exactly. And a lot of times, like Greg Bevino himself was caught lying about having something thrown at him. He said, somebody threw a rock at my head and that's when I deployed tear gas. And Judge Ellis looked at the video and said, there was no rock at your head. And he had to admit that he had lied about it.
Dana Goldberg
Right. In the 12 months through September 2024, ICE's internal Firearms and Use of Force Committee investigated three incidents in which an officer used a firearm. That's according to ICE's actual annual report. And in the year before that, there were five incidents in which ICE officer used a firearm. Now, it's not known on Wednesday what those investigations concluded. ICE and Homeland Security Department's policy, this is very clear that the use of force says that officers are authorized to use deadly force only if the officer and I quot has a reasonable belief that the subject of such force poses an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury. I've watched the video from every fucking angle. That wasn't the case in this. The policy further states that officers should avoid intentionally or unreasonably placing themselves in positions in which they have no alternative other than to use deadly force. Again, this was not the situation.
Allison Gill
Right. And if this officer was trained properly and you are actually in fear of this person accelerating into you, you don't stand at the front of the vehic. No, these guys are untrained. He almost. I don't Know if you noticed, but he almost shot his fellow officer.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, it was very close because the car was turning and the officer still had his hand on the door handle from the inside.
Allison Gill
Right. He was reaching inside.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
We'll show these videos, by the way, over on. On the Beans Talk later. But when he was reaching in and this guy just. He had. The vehicle had cleared him. Right. She was backing up and turning to go around this officer, and that's when he pulled his gun, fired directly into her head. Right?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, he was.
Allison Gill
And then kept firing and he almost shot his fellow officer. And so I'm concerned, you know, when the. When the press conference came on Dana, and they said, FBI is investigating this, and it's also been handed over to. This was the Minneapolis Police Department. Chief o' Hara said that the investigation's been handed over to the FBI, but also the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions, I think is what it's called.
Dana Goldberg
Okay.
Allison Gill
That's the state. And when he said FBI, I was like, great, FBI is going to try to come in here and fuck this whole thing up. But Tim Walls and a lot of the state and local officials were very adamant, saying, we are going to make sure that we have a local investigative aspect here for transparency sake.
Dana Goldberg
Good.
Allison Gill
And we're going to do everything that we can to make sure this is locally investigated by us, by Minnesota. So that gives me a little bit of hope that, you know, this just wasn't handed over to the feds.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, absolutely. And what you were saying before about cameras out, it is so important right now. This administration is lying about everything. About everything. They really are, because they're making so many mistakes, because they're moving fast and breaking things and they're not caring about human life. This video that this woman was with her partner and a dog in the truck. She was backing up so that traffic could pass her on a snowy street. Then the truck came up, the ICE vehicle came up. She went to go move forward as they were trying to open her door. She had not even been part of any sort of a conflict with them. They just pulled up on the car. And then it's weird because you can't see the ICE officer that shot her in the picture immediately because he is on the other side of the front of the car. So he steps in front of this automobile that is slowly moving forward. And then of course, he's able to move out of the way because the car isn't going very fast. And while he does this, he leans forward. I think there's eyewitness accounts that his stomach is on the bumper of the car because he leans into it. And I'm sorry, this is a horrible statement. There's a trigger warning here and we love when you watch the beans talk. But if you don't want to see these videos, this may not be the episode for you. But he leans forward and shoots her three times in the face at point blank range.
Allison Gill
A 37 year old woman.
Dana Goldberg
It's just, this is horrifying and I do hope this is some sort of a turning point, but it's not, I hate to say this, it's not going to be. What it may be is a turning point for the people outside of this administration to say enough. Because the administration's not going to care. They started lying about this so quickly to cover their own ass. They're going to dig their heels in and double down on all of this. And telling us what you see with your own eyes is not what you actually see. Trust me, what you are seeing in these videos is what you are seeing.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And they know that if the person that they shoot is dead, then there's not going to be an arrest of that person and that they don't have to, you know, go through discovery and trial that way. Which is why it's so important that Minneapolis and Minnesota and the state and local officials bring charges here. And I'm not really too familiar legally and I'm going to talk to some experts about supremacy here. Like if the FBI tells them no, we're not going to investigate. If they're still allowed to investigate. Yeah, because with the George Floyd murder by Derek Chauvin, the feds did investigate and they took him to federal trial and state took them to state trial. I don't know what happens if the feds tell you you can't bring charges against a federal officer. I'm not too familiar with those laws or local or state law to speak with any kind of authority on that. But I really hope that somehow we get the evidence and the truth of it out there, whether it's through a trial. I think this, I mean this guy should be arrested 100%.
Dana Goldberg
And I hope that this woman's partner who was in the fucking car and my God, my thoughts are out going out to have to witness such a horrifying event if nothing else that there's a civil suit against the son of a bitch.
Allison Gill
Yeah. So as far as peaceful protests go, definitely get in touch with or join your local Indivisible or 50, 51 for protest information. And yeah, my heart, too. My heart goes out. All the love to this community. We stand with Minneapolis. We stand with the family. We stand with the friends of Renee Nicole Goode. We stand with Minneapolis. And this is, I think, you know, I think when Governor Walz said this is a McCarthy moment, this is a have you no decency moment. I think this is a turning point. I think this will serve as a turning point and I think we are going to see massive peaceful protests as a result of what transpired in Minneapolis today.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, I agree. Alison, thank you for reporting that news with me and thank you to the listeners for staying with us through this episode. Obviously, we're going to try and give you a little good news coming up to cleanse the palate and try and get us back, back realigned. But take the breaths that you need and take the moments that you need. This is a lot. It is.
Allison Gill
And we will be right back with the good news. Stick around after these messages.
Dana Goldberg
We'll be right back.

She was. And you know who else was nominated today for a GLAAD Award, which is exceptional reporting in media entertainment representation for the LGBTQ community. That would be the Daily Beans podcast. Thank you. Woke up to it this morning, which was really nice. I had a bit of a bit of a day yesterday. I didn't say anything on the podcast. Allison had to deal with it. I was walking down some stairs in some new shoes and they were slippery, so everyone please be careful with slippery shoes. And I fell and fractured a toe and tore some ligaments and the other two. You did break a toe. I broke a toe and I bruised another one. Anyway, so I dealt with that yesterday and I was dealing with it this morning when I woke up and then I checked the. The nominations for the GLAAD Media Awards and the Daily Beans were on the podcast group. There's a specific category for podcasts and we are with the likes of the Handsome podcast. I know you listen to that. We can do hard things. TJ Madison Podcast. It actually the Burn Rachel Maddows podcast is on this group. So we are with really good company. Allison Gill
I'm just. I don't even know I'm at. I have no words. And it was funny because your friend said it's really interesting when two people who talk for a living have no words.
Dana Goldberg
It happens. There's a lot of weight in this. So it's really nice to have this recognition, especially the time we're living in right now.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Congrats to all the nominees. Congrats to Erin Reed. Our friend Charlotte Clymer was also nominated for Best Independent Media Source. Used to be best blog under the.
Dana Goldberg

Allison Gill
So I'm just blown away about the company that we're in. So again, thanks everybody for listening and if there's anything we can ever do for you, please let us know. This is your show. So, yeah, thanks also to the whole Beans team and MSW media. Everybody who makes this thing work. Couldn't do it without you. All right, time for some good news. This is from Anonymous Pronoun she and her Bobby here. A listener since the last four year period when the use of F, U, C and K keys increased exponentially, aka Trump 1.0. I want to thank AG&DG for their support of the LGBTQ community during this hellish time. The good news is that I've been cartooning daily as therapy since an August 2024 job loss. For my tariff, I've included a rabbit and a cartoon. Okay, the bun is adorable. Look at this. Look at this.
Dana Goldberg
That cartoon is fantastic.
Allison Gill
I can't. I. Like I wouldn't be able to give it justice by describing it.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my God. UFOs that are taking cows.
Allison Gill
Student driver.
Dana Goldberg
And this is a student driver on the side of one UFOs and the driver and the cows on top of that one. The other UFOs are picking up cows from the bottom, but the cow's on top of the student driver because it doesn't know what he's doing yet. God, that's really funny, Bobby. Oh my gosh. Thank you for that. All right, this is from Carolyn. No pronouns given. Hello, beans Queens. I encourage the Speaking of podcast Leguminati to listen to Rachel Maddow's new podcast, Burn Order. It details a dark chapter in American history when Japanese Americans were rounded up and incarcerated following the attack on Pearl Harbor. One of the camps where Japanese were incarcerated was in my native state of Wyoming. My father's first job out of high school was building the small tar papered barracks to house 14,000 people at heart Mountain. For time, I lived in an adjacent community to the camp, so I learned about its history. The camp is now an interpretive center and its director is one of my husband's former students who had family members incarcerated there. While listening to the final segment of Rachel's podcast, I began bawling my eyes out. After Trump's reelection, I stopped watching the news for months though I continued listening to your podcast to keep me informed and entertained. Let us all continue to protest the unlawful arrests of American citizens and remember just how fragile our democracy is. I attached an image of my new puppy, Zia. I have no doubt you'll figure out her lineage when I tell you that she doesn't shed. She's a ball of fluff. But we'll have to get her groomed before the summer heat, as I now live in Nevada. She's got to be some kind of a doodle.
Allison Gill
Yeah, some sort of doodle. That's the non shedding part. The eyes tell me. Like a husky or an Aussie or something.
Dana Goldberg
I know. Could you imagine if that's a husky doodle, what does that say as an Aussie doodle? Let's see.
Allison Gill
What do we have behind here? It's a mini Aussie doodle. Oh, cute. That's fantastic. What a cool little breed.
Dana Goldberg
I know, right?
Allison Gill
Oh, thank you. Okay, this good news segment today is so important. Thank you all for sending.
Dana Goldberg
You also know how heavy the news is that Allison and I just got a. What the muck? Correct. And we were like, mer, Mer. Let's keep going.
Allison Gill
Oh, look, we got something. Right. All right, next up, from happy to be your future official correspondent to the Netherlands. Question mark, pronoun. She and her. Hello, pronunciation correction. Cheveningen. It's notoriously hard to pronounce Dutch beach town. Yes, they have massively sandy beaches in addition to windmills, bikes, and cheese. To get the sh right, think about how Scottish people say loch and rhyme it with shave. Wow.
Dana Goldberg
I'm so glad you got this.
Allison Gill
The final N is pronounced more like a Scavian. A. Yeah. You know what? Okay, you're just gonna have to send in a. You're just gonna have to send an audio correction for that. If you get it right, you might participate in the annual scaving and a gay. No, now we ends in gay Scaving New Year's plunge, where thousands of people ring in the new year by running into the North Sea wearing orange beanies sponsored by N National Soup Company. It's a whole ass thing. I've never been myself, but here's a photo from the Internet. What are the odds Jack Smith's participating during his time at the Hague?
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my gosh.
Allison Gill
You know what? The odds are pretty good. He was a, like, a mega marathon runner and, like, a triathlete and stuff, so he could be there in one of those orange beanies.
Dana Goldberg
Also, can we talk about the fact that apparently the North Sea has a pier that looks like the Santa Monica.
Allison Gill
Yeah, they got a Ferris wheel on the North Sea.
Dana Goldberg
Wheel and like restaurants and stuff. That's funny.
Allison Gill
All right.
Dana Goldberg
This is from Susan. Pronouns she and her. Thank you from the Hague for my daily doses of news. Swearing in good news, especially the good news, gives me hope and confidence in good people. This is the request correction. The requested correction. Here we go. Scheveningen. Scheveningen is a neighborhood. Sorry, everyone. It's a neighborhood in the Hague and the location of both the ICC and a large prison. It's also near the beach, so I love to go there. The name is one of the hardest to pronounce. If you are not Dutch, it's how we know whether or not you are a native speaker. This is a link to YouTube page on its pronunciation. I wish you had seen this before.
Allison Gill
I'm going right now. I'm going right now.
Dana Goldberg
All right, I'm going to let you do that. And you're going to report back.
Allison Gill
It says, oh, God.
Dana Goldberg
Ready? Yeah. Oh, that's.
Allison Gill
Wow. Yeah. I can't do that noise. I can't do the ch noise.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my gosh.
Allison Gill
It's great.
Dana Goldberg
Wow.
Allison Gill
Okay.
Dana Goldberg
Susan continues. It's hard to explain, even for a Dutchy like me. My pod pet tariff are my two five year old brothers I got from a local rescue six months ago after I moved to the Hague. And the picture I took is Cheveningen beach last Sunday. Made you say it three times every month. There's an ecstatic dance event in a hall on the boardwalk nearby. It's a great way to let go of your worries.
Allison Gill
I want to go there and learn how to say it properly because it deserves to be said properly. And we're laughing at ourselves, by the way, not the name of this town. Just so we're clear there.
Dana Goldberg
No, not at all. I think Dutch in the Netherlands is one of the most beautiful countries I've ever been to.
Allison Gill
Yeah, I have. I've got Dutch in me. I should be able to do this. But alas, thank you for that. Beautiful, beautiful photos. Lovely kitties. Next up, from Colin in the Council Bluffs pronouns he and him. Hey. The recent quip paraphrasing he's not a pussies have depth and warmth is hilarious. I was delighted to recently happen across this. When one calls someone a pussy, it's not a slur on the nifty bits, but instead short for pusillanimous, meaning lacking courage and resolution, marked by contemptible timidity. I've thought that widespread understanding of this could lead to the word being used a lot more since these scoundrels demonstrate so much. Pusillanimous thank you for today's a pronunciation. Thank you. Thank you for the work you do and for the excellent podcast. Thank you Colin and Council Bluffs.
Dana Goldberg
Oh my gosh. All right, we are continuing with Phyllis pronouns she and her hello Ag and dg. I'd like to give a special shout out to my husband. George has been playing the guitar since he was a teenager. He tried to make a living of it in his 20s, but ended up spending most of his adulthood working as an attorney. George retired from full time legal work four years ago to pursue a gradu degree in music.
Allison Gill
Oh my God. Awesome.
Dana Goldberg
I know, right? I love the reverse here. I'm so proud to say that he has finished his schooling and we'll be receiving a Master's degree in classical guitar performance from Temple University this coming May. At 70 years old, he's living proof that you're never too old to learn the submission rocks literally and classically. For my pod pet tax, I'm attaching a picture of our grandpup Leo, a very energetic 4 year old Hans, 57 dog. Love listening to you too. Keep up the good work.
Allison Gill
Look at this little chonker beagle slash dachshund looking mofo as adorable. And I'm so glad George now has he can fall back on his music if his attorney career. There you go doesn't pan out. Oh that's amazing. 70 masters in music. Man, that is so cool. That is good to hear. Next up from anonymous pronoun she and her hi Beanies. I needed new tires for my 07 Corolla. I love my car. I was sitting in the U tire waiting room listening to cleanup on aisle 45. I tried to have the volume way down so I wouldn't offend anyone because you never know. But the nice young man who was manning the desk could still hear it. He was very positive about it. So we started talking. I told him about my favorite podcast the Daily Beans News was swearing is the bomb. He asked if it was on Spotify and he said he would listen. Yay. So hello sir at U tire. It's cold here in Tucson. So again, hello the gentleman at utire in Tucson, Arizona. It's cold this time of year so we're all snuggling up. This is Keddie on his patio hammock trying to stay warm. Yes, he can come in the house when he wants, but he loves being outside as part of his catio. His Sister Kizzy likes to stay inside. Love your show. Check him out. He's awesome. Oh, oh, and look at the girl. Hello, girl.
Dana Goldberg
Sweetie pie. All right. This is from Karen. Not that Karen. She and her. I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with all that was happening. I walked down to get the mail. The globe mellow bush spoke up. The globe mellow bush spoke up. If I can keep blooming in winter, you can too. Bonus Nora Insurrection PUP we adopted January 6th of 2021. Celebrating her fifth Gotcha Day.
Allison Gill
Oh, I see here. Look at. There's a defend democracy sign in the flowers. And the flowers are blooming. I love it, Karen and I love it.
Dana Goldberg
I love that. In the middle of the winter.
Allison Gill
The doggo photo. Very cute. Thank you. Next up from Anonymous pronoun she and her. This is three years in the making. Thank you for making me laugh. Driving home from my job through our community mental health agency as a family support specialist for families whose loved one is experiencing the first episode of psychosis. Medicaid provides a lifeline for these young adults who never asked for this, this particular mental health challenge and desperately need these medications, which are often quite expensive. My role was intense in both service to these families and the rewards. But the highlight of my day was laughing all the way home from AG and DG's humor on the daily beans. I'd sit at a red light laughing with all of you, which filled my cup with overflowing bubbles of relief. So thank you. You helped me do my job. Including as a pic of our rescued blank, which was once used as a bait dog in fighting rings. She's been the best dog we've ever had and has taken care of our spirits for six years. I'm guessing a pity, but she's beautiful. Let's see. Yeah. Pitbull. Just gorgeous.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, sweet baby.
Allison Gill
Yes. Oh, thank you all so much. Boy, did I need that today. I was so angry.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
And I mean, we all have been. I mean, you know, but just watching those videos and we're going to show them like you said, Dana, on Beans Talk. And if you don't want to see those videos, probably recommend not to watch the Beans Talk today. We might be the only podcast in the world that would recommend you don't watch the show. But I just.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, just this one.
Allison Gill
Want to make sure you know that we are going to show those videos both angles, so. Because I think it's important that they're out there. I was a little upset that Blue sky. They're not taking the videos down, but they're masking them, saying that it's graphic content and you actually have to click show to see the videos. I didn't think that was appropriate, but I guess it does sort of go toward the fact that we're giving a content warning for the beans talk because maybe you need to choose to watch that video. You know what I mean?
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, absolutely. I think people should have a choice. Sometimes if you have your settings, all of a sudden videos just play without you wanting to see them. So you can change the settings on your phone for that, by the way, or just skip this one because we're gonna, we're giving you a heads up.
Allison Gill
Yep. Everybody, thank you so much. Please continue to send in your good news dailybeanspod.com click on contact and thanks for everything. Thanks for listening and we'll be back in your ears tomorrow. Until then, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health, and take care of your family. Hosts: Allison Gill & Dana Goldberg (MSW Media)
This episode delivers a focused, urgent discussion of the events surrounding the killing of Renee Nicole Goode—a 37-year-old woman, legal observer, and community ICE observer—by a federal ICE agent in Minneapolis. The hosts, Allison Gill and Dana Goldberg, dissect the incident, counter misinformation from government officials, share verified accounts, and examine the broader repercussions for civil rights, protest movements, and police accountability. With characteristic candor and palpable outrage, they analyze how this event fits into national patterns of law enforcement violence under the Trump administration, its political context, and the critical role of citizen video documentation.

Allison Gill, 10:06: “I often talk about the importance of citizens taking video. And as we know, that proved instrumental in the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd... none of these ICE agents provided medical aid after shooting this woman. They just milled about her car.”
