MSW Media. Hello, and welcome to the Daily beans for Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Today, Judge Boasberg has denied Trump's motion to vacate his orders to turn those planes around in the Alien Enemies act case. Top Pentagon and intelligence officials shared Yemeni war plans with a journalist on Signal. Cool. Cool. A Ukrainian man is the third to die in ICE custody in a facility in South Florida. A federal judge in New Jersey has barred the Trump administration from taking steps to separate two decorated transgender members of the military. The Trump administration has petitioned the Supreme Court to allow mass firings of probationary federal workers. And a federal judge in Texas has blocked Texas A and M from canceling a drag show on campus. I'm Allison Gill.
Dana Goldberg
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Allison Gill
Well, hey, Dana. So a couple of great news stories and one absolutely astounding bit of fuckery that happened today. How are you feeling, my friend?
Dana Goldberg
I'm okay. I think I got the little cold everyone else got, so I'm hoping I'm on the tail end. I've got a big trip coming up, so I'm glad to get it out of the way now. But it's so interesting, and you know that for the listeners, I'm gonna be out for a week. I'll be out next Saturday to Saturday, but it's an Olivia Cruise and Alison, you will love this. There's a Facebook page with the group, and every time I post or I see someone's post, someone comes back on and goes, oh, my God. I'm a Daily Beans listener. Like, there's so much Leguminati going on this trip, and I cannot wait to meet you all. So I love that you listen to us. I love that we bring you joy and sanity, and I'm really looking forward to just spending a week in paradise with you all on the ship. So make sure you come say hi at any point. It doesn't have to be after my show. You're not bothering me. If you see me by the pool, you see me walking around, just stop me, please. Just stop me and say hi.
Allison Gill
Oh, my God, that's so cool.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, we got people everywhere.
Allison Gill
I know we had a ton of Leguminati turnout for the town hall. The Darrell Issa empty chair town hall last night. It was awesome. We ended up having seats for about 325. Then they expanded the room to 500. Then they expanded it again to about 700, 750 people. Wow. And we still had flow, so there were about 850, 900 people total there. That Turned out last night for this town hall. We had a really wonderful time. And I just wanted to thank everybody who came up and said hi to me and, you know, gave your words of encouragement. It was just. It was so nice. So I totally get it when you're like, even if I'm at the pool, even if I'm at the bar, if I'm relaxing, you come up and say hi because we love talking to you.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, absolutely. I'm so. I'm so sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully when we do another one, I'll be able to and won't have a conflict. But I'm really proud of you. I love that people are showing up for this. It's makes me feel hopeful that we're not just rolling over and, you know, giving up. I don't want to say taking it, because that sounded horrible, but, yeah. Giving up.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Bending the knee as.
Dana Goldberg
Bending the knee and nothing else.
Allison Gill
Yes, yes. Not two knees, just one. But, yeah. No. Thank you, everyone who turned up. It was so fun. And I look forward to seeing pictures from the cruise that you're going to go on this weekend. It's going to be so nice. And if you haven't seen Dana Goldberg comedy, you need to.
Dana Goldberg
Thank you.
Allison Gill
You're welcome. All right, we have a lot of news to get to today, but first, we have just a couple of quick hits. And to make a long story short.
Dana Goldberg
Too late.
Allison Gill
All right, I have an update on the Alien Enemies act thing that's going on in the courts right now. This all goes back to, you know, last Saturday. Not just this past Saturday, but a week ago Saturday, when Judge Boasberg was like, turn the planes around. You can't deport Venezuelans by saying they're members of a gang without giving them due process. Well, Trump apparently filed a motion with Boasberg to vacate that order, the turn the planes around order and stop deporting people under the Alien Enemies act order. Because there were two restraining or temporary restraining orders. Really? And so Trump said, vacate your motions. They're illegal. And Boasberg said, no, nope, this is good. This is good law. So far. I'm not turning over my temporary restraining order.
Dana Goldberg
Good.
Allison Gill
And then two new declarations were filed by lawyers for the Venezuelans proving that the people on the plane were given no due process. At least some of them were, and given none. And that the Trump administration could have brought them all home. Their big argument was, no, it's too complicated to turn the planes around. What if they need more fuel? And Whatever. Well, there were at least seven women that were on the plane and they had to be taken back to the United States because seacot doesn't take women.
Dana Goldberg
Oh.
Allison Gill
And so they got returned to the United States.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, interesting.
Allison Gill
So that totally kills Trump's argument. Like, no, it's too hard to return, people. And then there was a hearing on Monday in the D.C. circuit Court of Appeals because Donald Trump appealed to the appeals court to say vacate the restraining order to turn the planes around. And the oral arguments were today and we'll see how it turns out. Because there's a Trump judge and then there's a, a not, you know, a not Trump judge, a couple of not Trump judges. And Judge Millet was like, what are you even talking about? This is bizarre. And I mean, like she just handed them their asses. And so hopefully on jurisdictional grounds alone, because you can't, you're not supposed to be able to appeal a temporary restraining order, just a preliminary injunction. Hopefully they'll just say no like they did before.
Dana Goldberg
That would be great. This story, it's NBC 6. In South Florida, a Ukrainian woman says she finds herself alone in the United States after her husband fell ill and died in the custody of U.S. customs and Immigration in ICE and in West Miam, Miami, Dade county. The wife of 44 year old Maxime Chernyak, who spoke to NBC 6 on the condition of anonymity, claims her husband did not suffer from any pre existing medical condition. She alleges that he was not properly cared for at the Chrome Detention center when he started to feel sick. Chernyak died on February 20 at HCA Kendall Hospital, Miami, while in ICE custody. That's according to the agency's website, which also notes that he was vomiting and having seizures. A doctor determined that the preliminary cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage. Just outrageous, horrifying, and I'm so sorry to this family and the wife.
Allison Gill
Yeah, me too. My God, I mean, just how terrifying. Which, you know, again is the point.
Dana Goldberg
I think it is, it is. You know, Allison, before we pop into the hot notes, and I know this isn't one of the quick hits, but 23andMe is going bankrupt and they are basically selling the company off at auction. And so I went on immediately when I found this out and I deleted my information because I was one of those people that was cur, you know, I wanted to know. But if you are a 23andMe account holder, I implore you just on my own opinion. Go now. You can download your information and Then delete your entire account, because when that is sold at auction, all your information goes with it.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Thank you. Thank you for that reminder. All right, everybody, we have more news to get to. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes. All right, first up, and this is simply stunning, but not wholly unexpected from the DUI hire, Pete. And the Guardian reports on something that happened to a journalist in the Atlantic. Senior members of Donald Trump's cabinet have been involved in a serious security breach while discussing secret military plans for recent US Attacks on the Houthi armed group in Yemen. In an extraordinary blunder. That's putting it mildly. Key figures in the Trump administration, including Vice President J.D. vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, and Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence, used the commercial chat app Signal to convene and discuss plans, while also including a prominent journalist in the group. Signal, by the way, is not approved by the US Government for sharing sensitive information.
Dana Goldberg
Sure isn't.
Allison Gill
Others in the chat included Trump advisor Stephen Miller, Trump's chief of staff Sue Wiles, and key Trump envoy Steve Witkoff. The breach was revealed in an article published Monday by Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor of the Atlantic magazine, who discovered that he had been included in a Signal chat called Houthi PC Small Group and releasing that 18 other members of the group included Trump Cabinet members. In his account. Goldberg says he removed sensitive material from his account, including the identity of a senior CIA officer and current operational details. The report was confirmed by Brian Hughes, a spokesperson for the National Security Council, who told Atlantic magazine, quote, this appears to be an authentic message, message chain, and we're reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain. You should be reviewing why you're discussing war plans on Signal.
Dana Goldberg
That would be the first thing, yeah.
Allison Gill
Hughes added, the thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials. The ongoing success of the Houthi operation demonstrates that there were no threats to troops or national security. The incident is likely further to raise concerns over the Trump administration's trustworthiness with intelligence shared by erstwhile allies, not least, as Hegseth posts, at one stage of guaranteeing 100% OPSEC, which is operations security. While a celebrated journalist was reading that.
Dana Goldberg
Message, I could just imagine Trump updating his Facebook being like, totes invading Yemen today. Just like hits putting post. That's what it sounds like.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Yeah. Now, the discussion seen by Goldberg, including comments from Vance, who appeared unconvinced of the urgency to attack Yemen, as well as conversations over what price should be expected of Europeans and other countries for the U.S. removing the threat to a key global shipping route. Security and intelligence commentators in the US described the breach of operational security as unprecedented, both for the use of a commercial chat service and for the inclusion of Goldberg in the US Military. The highest political echelon and intelligence services operate under strict rules for communications of classified material and for the discussion of issues concerning operational security where lives and outcomes could be compromised by disclosure. While Signal is regarded as a secure, encrypted chat service, its weakness is that phones on which it is installed can themselves be vulnerable. Among those aghast at the breach was Democratic Representative Pat Ryan, an Army veteran who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, who described it using the Second World War era epithet fubar, meaning fucked up beyond all recognition. If House Republicans won't hold a hearing on how this happened immediately, I'll do it my damn self, he said. Shane Harris, longtime national security reporter formerly of the Post, the Washington Post now with the Atlantic, wrote on Blue sky, quote, in 25 years of covering national security, I have never seen a story like this.
Dana Goldberg
Jeez.
Allison Gill
Goldberg writes that he was initially dubious about whether the messages might be some kind of foreign disinformation operation, but became convinced they were genuine, both because of the language and positions presented and because the plan discussed coincided with an actual attack on Yemen. One striking exchange involved Vance and Hegseth making disparaging remarks about Europe.
Dana Goldberg
Shocking.
Allison Gill
I know, right? Quote, the account identified as JD Vance addressed a message at 8:45 to Pete Hegseth, quote, if you think we should do it, let's go. I hate bailing Europe out again. That's what Goldberg wrote in his Atlantic article. But that was a message from J.D. vance. And by the way, the administration has argued that America's European allies benefit economically from the US Navy's protection of internal shipping lanes. Goldberg continued, the user identified as Hegseth responded three minutes later, quote, vp, I fully share your loathing of European free reloading. It's pathetic. But Mike is correct. We're the only ones on the planet on our side of the ledger that can do this. No one else is even close. Question is timing. I feel like now is a good time as any. Given the POTUS directive to reopen shipping lanes, I think we should go. But potus still retains 24 hours of decision space. Now, in reality, about 20 countries are involved in the mission to protect shipping from Houthi attacks, including British warships. And as Goldberg became aware of the attack on Yemen taking place, he Recorded how he went back to the signal channel. Quote, Mike Waltz, US National Security Advisor, had provided the group an update. Again, I won't quote from his text, except to note that he described the operation as, quote, an amazing job. A few minutes later, someone else said, a good start. Not long after, Waltz responded with three emojis, a fist, an American flag, and fire.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, my God.
Allison Gill
Others soon joined in, including Marco Rubio, who wrote, good job, Pete, and your team. And Susie Wiles texted, kudos to all, most particularly those in theater and centcom. Really great. God bless. I bet whomever accidentally invited Jeffrey Goldberg into the chat thought JD or JG was jd Like JD Vance, because they're idiots. But like, holy shit.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, that's a really good possibility, actually. Oh, my God.
Allison Gill
He's just sitting there.
Dana Goldberg
Like, could you imagine if they came across your phone? You'd be like, wait, no, no, no, no.
Allison Gill
And they weren't in a skiff. What he pointed out is you can't bring cell phones into a skiff or computers into a skiff. So they weren't in a skiff. Discussing this where they have to be.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, but Alison, her server, her private server.
Allison Gill
I know, I know, I know, I know.
Dana Goldberg
All right, this one's from Chaney and Politico. The Trump administration, they asked the Supreme Court on Monday to allow it to follow through with its attempt to fire thousands of probationary workers across the federal government, even though this seems to be highly unpopular and against the law. The administration filed an emergency appeal of a March 13 ruling from U.S. district Judge William Allsup, who ordered the government to immediately rehire probationary workers who had been terminated at six federal agencies. Allsup's order required the government to offer reinstatements to about 16,000 federal workers. Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris, that's what she wrote in appeal. Alsop's ruling let, quote, third parties hijack the employment relationship between the federal government and its workforce. That's what Harris argued. That is no way to run a government. Correct. Allsup is a San Francisco based appointee of President Bill Clinton ruled that the administration had violated federal law and skirted required procedures when it conducted the mass terminations. A second judge, Baltimore based U.S. judge James Breder. We've talked about James before. An appointee of Barack Obama similarly found that the terminations of probationary workers was illegal, and he issued an even more sweeping order requiring the workers to be rehired at 18 federal agencies. The emergency appeal of Allsup's ruling, that's part of a NASCENT effort by the Trump administration to press the Supreme Court to rein in district court judges who have barred dozens of early actions by federal agencies seeking to implement a wave of executive orders that are unconstitutional and often illegal by the President of the United States. Harris described Allsup's ruling as part of a series of rulings in which district judges had overstepped their authority. They had not. They're actually upholding the rule of law. It's called checks and balances. And they quote, this court should stop the ongoing assault on the constitutional structure before further damage is wrought. And that's Harris. Yep. Harris submitted the appeal to Justice Elena Kagan, who handles emergency matters originating from California. Kagan is likely to refer that appeal to the full court. And that is what they want. They want this to go Supreme Court because they're to push this as far as they can to see what stays.
Allison Gill
Yeah. It'll be interesting given, you know, Justice Roberts push back on the Trump administration calling for them to impeach these judges. Real.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
When it's actually the executive that's being a dick to the judges, not the other way around.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. It's also real hard to keep your, I don't know, reputation as a justice, as a judge if you're allowing the president to just impeach judges that he doesn't agree with.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Geez. All right, some good news. These last two stories are actually pretty good news from the Associated Press. A federal judge in New Jersey has issued a temporary ban on the removal of two transgender men from the Air Force following a similar ruling last week from Judge reyes in Washington. U.S. district Judge Christine O'Hearn, after a hearing on Monday, said the pair have shown that their separation would cause lasting damage to their careers and reputations. She issued a two week ban on enforcement of Trump's executive order banning transgender people from military service. O'Hearn found that Master Sergeant Logan Ireland and Staff Sergeant Nicholas Baer Bade are likely to prevail on equal protection grounds by showing they have been singled out due to their sex. And the defendants cannot justify the differential treatment. Quote, the loss of military service under the stigma of a policy that targets gender identity is not merely a loss of employment. It's a profound disruption of personal dignity, medical continuity and public service. That's from Judge O'Hearn and her order granting the 14 day restraining order. The Pentagon deferred comment on the ruling to the Justice Department, which did not respond. Both men have already been put on administrative leave. Ireland from a training program at Joint Base Maguire Dix Lakehurst in New Jersey and bade from a deployment in Kuwait. Ireland has had more than 14 years of service, with deployments to Afghanistan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates, while Baid has served for more than six years. Both men have won numerous awards and medals, according to court filings. Filings, quote, plaintiffs involuntary laws have decorated military status, military health care, and the ability to serve their country under a policy they have faithfully abided by for years cannot be repaired by monetary damages. That's Judge O'Hearn again, who, by the way, is a Biden appointee. On January 27, Trump signed the executive order that claims that sexual identity or transgender service members, quote, it conflicts with a soldier's commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one's personal life, and is harmful to military readiness. We've already gone over those arguments.
Dana Goldberg
It's just such bullshit.
Allison Gill
Extensively.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, I love this. I love that. This is. We're winning in the courts. Let me just say that everyone. We are winning the courts. It's a long sloth, but we're doing it.
Allison Gill
I wish our Democratic leadership would be as supportive of trans people and their rights as the courts are.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, that would be nice, because it's gonna come up again. And they keep saying this shit on a hot mic. And I'm gonna say this before we get to the last story. Trump and everyone else keep saying, keep the transgender issue until right before the midterms. They are using this. If it wasn't otherwise, they'd be talking about it all the time. And they're not. They do this to them all the time. They're gonna bring. It's the caravans. It's the border crisis. It's what they have found an issue that gets people's emotions and sparks them right before they're about to vote. Do not let them do this. We've got two years to educate, meet the general public more and more, dispel disinformation and actually tell the stories. Have them meet trans people. Show them. I mean, these military men, My God. And. And a lot of these military men, because I've read the stories, are saying, they don't even know I'm transgender. They know I'm transgender until I say something. And that's the thing.
Allison Gill
Yeah, totally. And you're right. Somebody on. Somebody posted, I think, on Blue sky, there are more kids in Texas with measles than there are, like, trans athletes in the ncaa.
Dana Goldberg
There's more rape allegations against the President of the United States than there are trans Athletes in the ncaa.
Allison Gill
Yep.
Dana Goldberg
Okay, y'all know how I feel about this. More good news from the Associated Press. A drag show scheduled for this week at Texas A and M University. It can go on as scheduled despite a Board of Regents ban on such performances. This is what a federal judge ruled Monday. The ruling From Houston based U.S. district Judge Lee Rosenthal blocked a university ban on drag performances on free speech grounds. Understandably, and I quote, to ban the performance from taking place on campus because it offends some members of the campus community is precisely what the First Amendment prohibits. That's what Rosenthal said. Who was nominated to the bench by. Anyone want to guess? George W. Bush.
Allison Gill
H.W.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, George H.W. bush. She'd been there for a while. Now the ruling blocks the ban while the broader legal case over it moves forward. The decision echoes others in recent years from the US Supreme Court, which refused to let Florida enforce a statewide ban, and district courts in Montana, Tennessee and Texas. Texas A and M has become a flashpoint in most recent chapters of this legal battle. Two years ago, the president of West Texas A and M in Canyon said a drag show schedule for that campus could not move ahead. In response to a legal challenge, U.S. district Judge Matthew Kaczmarek said that the university could block the show, finding it contained in a quote, sexualized content. I'm sorry, is this on a university campus? Sexualized content and could be more regulated than other forms of speech?
Allison Gill
Yeah, but like strip beer pong. Totes.
Dana Goldberg
Totes.
Allison Gill
Cool.
Dana Goldberg
Toad's cool. Yeah. Little ice blocking with your little parts. Freezing your butt off, you know, just to get into that fraternity.
Allison Gill
Now, Cass Kazmark, by the way, that's the guy who they have all the Republicans file with. Remember, he's the one with the mifepristone case.
Dana Goldberg
Yes, yes.
Allison Gill
It goes up to the fifth Circuit. Yeah, that's that guy.
Dana Goldberg
Got it. The Supreme Court, by the way, last year declined to take the case when the student group behind it appealed. But this time around, the backdrop is different. The Board of Regents passed a policy banning drag shows across the University System on February 28 after tickets had already been sold to the Dragieland. I love that show. On the flagship campus in College Station. The show has been an annual event, by the way, since 2020. 2020. It's funny how that wasn't a problem back then. In the first two years, the university supported it financially. Oh. But in recent years, the student group, Texas A and M Queer Empowerment Council has been responsible for all the funding. It's real hard when you put Money into something and all of a sudden be like, nah, not on my watch.
Allison Gill
Yeah. And then to say, well, we don't want to spend the money. Well, you're not anymore.
Dana Goldberg
You're not.
Allison Gill
The Queer Empowerment Council is now.
Dana Goldberg
Yep. The university argued that allowing the show, it could jeopardize federal funding for the university in light of the president's executive order barring federal money to support what he calls gender ideology. It noted how funds were cut off from Columbia University. Now, the judge, what does he.
Allison Gill
Just assuming that all drag queens are trans.
Dana Goldberg
Yes, that is exactly. That's exactly what they think. Which is funny because Donald Trump wears more makeup, more shitty makeup than some drag queens that I know. Because at least they know how to put their foundation and actually blend it. Okay. The judge decided, by the way, that allowing the event does not imply that the university endorses it.
Allison Gill
It.
Dana Goldberg
Okay. By allowing it, she said, the university could comply with the, quote, constitutional obligation to allow different messages and viewpoints, including those viewed as offensive to some, to be expressed at the university that is committed to critical thought about a wide range of conflicting and divergent viewpoints and ideologies. What a great statement. Yeah, yeah. A university spokesperson, of course, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Allison Gill
A bunch of jack offs. Just have the show. It's a.
Dana Goldberg
And I guarantee, I guarantee these fuckers are watching RuPaul if you check their history on their tone. You know what I mean? Like, they're enjoying drag queen somewhere. I know they are. Either that or they're googling stuff. I just. I can't. I can't.
Allison Gill
That no fun. You're not allowed to do this. No drag shows, but you're definitely allowed to, like, sodomize frat pledges with a wooden pattern battle.
Dana Goldberg
Ouch.
Allison Gill
You know, totally, totally cool. Hazing's fine. That's just boys being boys.
Dana Goldberg
Ugh.
Allison Gill
Right? It's unbelievable. All right, time for some good trouble. What are you guys doing? Yeah, I know. That got real dark at the end there. I've been watching a lot of. Sorry. All right, time for some good trouble. We just learned that Elon Musk is handing out a hundred bucks to anybody who signs his I hate judges petition in Wisconsin in an effort to try to buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court seat for his friend Schimmel. He's already poured $12 million into this race. So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to call or contact the Wisconsin Attorney General. Josh, call and ask him if this violates any Wisconsin election laws. You can call him at 608266-1221 or use the link in the show notes to the contact form that we have provided that the. Well, it's, I mean, it's the. It's the contact form for the Wisconsin Attorney general. Ask him if either the $100 payment or the use of the voter data he collects when people sign this petition violates any Wisconsin state election laws would. Appreciate it. Right Until I was 17 years old, I thought that awry was pronounced owry. That's fair and not arai.
Dana Goldberg
There's a good chance I still would have done that without this explanation. Just kidding. I. I knew that one.
Allison Gill
Anyway, send it to us. All of your good news and your shout outs. Whether it's to a loved one or. Or a government program or a self shout out. Your government program. Shout out can include any government program that's helped you or a loved one from Social Security, Medicare and the ACA all the way to, you know, wic, Snap, Head Start, anything like that at all. Some PACT Act. If you're a veteran and you got some more benefits through the PACT act, or if you've gotten great VA healthcare, we'd love to hear about it. Student debt forgiveness, all of that. All you got to do to get your good news submitted is pay your POD pet tax, which means attach a photo of your pet. And if you don't have a pet pet, you can send us an adoptable pet in your area. We'll see if we can find him a forever home. If you don't have that, any animal photo will do. I think our. I think our thing right now is otters and frogs.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Panda bears. Adam in the bunch.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Red for me, red pandas, black and white pandas for. For data.
Dana Goldberg
I like the red pandas too.
Allison Gill
I know. I like the black and white pandas too, but if I had to pick anyway. Yeah, like because, because there's a people. Every day somebody puts a gun to my head, says red pandas or black and white pandas and I have to choose shoes. No, that doesn't happen. And then if you don't have that, we're doing bird watching right now, which means you can either send in a photo of a bird. I like secretary birds and shoe bills. But if you don't have a bird picture, you can send a photo of you and your friends and family flipping off Trump properties and musk properties. We would love to see that. And of course, if you have none of that baby pictures. Always baby pictures. Send them in. You should just add those regardless. Honestly, you can do all this by going to DailyBeansPod.com and click on Contact. First up, Craig from Colorado Pronouns he and him. My wife and I are loyal listeners and during a recent trip to Vegas, we decided to show off our deep love for Donald Trump. Also, here's a picture of our 14 year old whippet beagle mix. She's side eyeing me for an unknown reason. She's side eyeing you because she's part whippet.
Dana Goldberg
That's.
Allison Gill
That's what? That's what they do. This is a great bird watching photo.
Dana Goldberg
It sure is. And a very cute. Very demure.
Allison Gill
Very demure side eye guy. Adorable.
Dana Goldberg
I love it. All right, this one's from Deanna. Pronouns. She and her hello Allison and Dana. Thank you for your podcast. I listen daily and have shared your podcast with many. I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm a member of River City Mixed Chorus. We are an LGBTQ choir and our membership also includes allies. We're a little more than 160 strong and we have a concert in Omaha at the Holland center on April 5th. This would be a great tie in and and way to end our day of resistance if you live in the area. The first half of the show tells the story of Pauli Murray. Born in 1910, she was a gay civil rights activist in a time that was very unforgiving. Kind of like what we're currently living in. I'll attempt to attach a picture of concert poster. The second half is a collection of 60s and 70s rebel songs. Anyway, I just wanted to share. I'm currently reading her biography called Proud Shoes. First published in 1956, then again in 78 and last in 1984 were it's a fascinating read going back to her family history, to her great grandparents. So many brave and smart people have gone before us and knowing them helps me to find the courage it takes to meet our current challenges. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and insights with us. The first picture I share is the poster. The second is my husband and I at Postal Workers rally in Omaha. My sign is supposed to represent an envelope somewhat Sorry we have no pets due to my husband's allergies and asthma. Rebel with the Cause World Premiere this poster is fantastic. Fantastic.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Wow. That's beautifully designed and I bet that's going to be an amazing show. So if you're out for the hands off In Omaha on April 5, this would be a great way to end the night.
Dana Goldberg
Definitely.
Allison Gill
Deanna, thank you so much. Oh, and look at that. Return power to the Constitution. Stomp out musk. Do not privatize. Love it with the Postal Workers Union. Thank you so much for that. That. Next up, Jess. Pronouns they and them. Hi AG and dg. I've been a listener for well over a year now and I wanted to send you some gratitude and a little POD pet tax. Thank you for bringing us all the news every day, every weekday. This podcast is my main source of news now and it's always comforting to hear it from both of you, even when the stories are hard to swallow. And a personal thank you for your unwavering support of the trans community. I've always been a Democrat and even canvas door to door before the election, but I felt alienated and dismayed by the waffling and outright abandonment of trans support by some Democrats. It's had me feel like maybe the Democratic party isn't for me anymore. Our community is under relentless attack and those attacks should be called out for the red herrings that they are. Like Jasmine Crockett said recently, according to them, the Republicans, the trans kids, they want to play sports. That is the biggest issue that we've had since when it's politicians like her and advocates like yourselves that give me some hope. It means so much to have your support. Okay, now for the tax. When my friend brought the cat over to her now forever home with us, I asked what they had been calling her. The answer was sometimes Helene and sometimes fema, but we figured that would traumatize our neighbors. So if we eventually let her out in the yard and called for her with either of those names, we thought Storm would be a better fit. So meet Storm, the seven month old kitty who showed up at my friend's house after Helene. Helene? Yes, Hurricane Helene. I'm in Asheville. She reminds me of three life lessons that I took from the flood. Always be prepared, take nothing for granted and help everyone that you can. Oh, I Love that. My 5 year old kid has been asking for a cat. So while Storm is fairly skittish but very sweet and will make a great first cat, she's also provided us much needed furball distraction and comfort in this current mess of a world. Care to guess her breed? Thanks again and please take care of yourself. Okay, Is this a.
Dana Goldberg
Is that a tortoise or is that a thing? A tortoise cat. A tortoise.
Allison Gill
It's like a tortie tabby.
Dana Goldberg
Look at me, I got half a kitty.
Allison Gill
I don't know. There's no answer. So I guess you're right.
Dana Goldberg
I'm definitely right.
Allison Gill
But thank you for that, Jess. I really appreciate it. And what I'm hoping is that we'll be. Now that the election is over and we have a little breathing room before the next election, we can, we can try to remake, make the Democratic Party so we don't have to leave it.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, I would, I think I would love that, actually. All right, this is CJ pronouncing him. I would like to shout out a great tattoo and piercing studio in Houston, Texas area. Stubborn Anchor is an awesome. Proudly LGBTQ plus woman owned with some of the best artists I've ever seen. Recently had memorial piece for my grandmother done by Ari Angelus. Instagram, by the way, is at Tatarotea. T A T A R O T E A. The whole process was professional, friendly and a great experience. There's a pic attached and it is stunning. I don't have any pop pet tags, but would like to submit a picture of pure joy. Here's a picture of my son, with his and his mom's permission, loving his first ride on a roller coaster with inversions.
Allison Gill
Okay, this ink is incredible.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah. Absolutely amazing. Oh, and that picture is also fantastic.
Allison Gill
He is so happy and scared at the same time. And I love it.
Dana Goldberg
That's me. It describes me every day now.
Allison Gill
Yeah. Internal screaming scream inside your heart. What was that that they said to do on the roller coaster in general?
Dana Goldberg
That's it.
Allison Gill
Thank you so much for that. Next up, anonymous pronoun she and her. My good news is that you, Allison, said yes to my Stab in the dark invite for me on Blue sky to be part of an awesome packed house event our San Diego Indivisible Coalition had yesterday in Escondido, California, the empty chair town hall for our absentee chicken of a Republican congressman Darrell Issa. And you jumped in and ran the whole show, fielding questions and concerns to a panel of local people representing our veterans, the LGBTQ community, our immigrants, students and educators, and those working their tails off to stave off climate change and save our environment. You added your magic to it all, Alison. And truly helped over 800 of us get fired up for our mission to work our butts off to throw out these, in your perfect words, felon, felonious assholes, starting with Daryl Issa, up to the fascist Nazi billionaires at the top of the heap. Thank you for my pet tags. I give you a picture of our three precious soon to be one year old kitties, Max, Gracie and Wally, spending valuable time spotting birds landing in our magnificent pine tree, who showed up one day on our deck and invited themselves into our life. The last one is somewhat of a Find the cat, Wally, or find the husband, having just done laundry together.
Dana Goldberg
There's the kitty. There's the kitty. Little three kitties in the window. And yep, is a chicken.
Allison Gill
Yeah, that. That was so amazing. Thank you so much for, for having me. It's truly an honor to even be asked and I'm so glad that I did a good job for you.
Dana Goldberg
Yes. Now, Allison, listen, I am going to acquiesce and Ask if you will please read this last story because you know the tune and I think you would give it justice more than I would.
Allison Gill
Oh, my gosh. It's a whole song. All right.
Dana Goldberg
All right.
Allison Gill
What should we do?
Dana Goldberg
I can pop in if you'd like, but you got to get it started, especially that second verse. I got nothing. I don't know how the tune goes. I know how the first part goes.
Allison Gill
All right, so I'm going to do the first three.
Dana Goldberg
How many are there?
Allison Gill

Dana Goldberg
Thank you for covering me. And there was no way. I mean, you gave me one, almost one verse. I got through one line, and I gave up. I was like, I can't do this today if.
Allison Gill
Let me. I have sang that song on stage. I used to. I had a weekly residence at a place called the Blarney Stone Pub.
Dana Goldberg
Oh, see this? Okay, now your secrets are coming out.
Allison Gill
Yeah, now the secrets are coming out. I was there for almost six years, maybe maybe seven, two nights a week. Week. And that was always on the rep. That was always in the repertoire. It was. It was a cup was Some Irish songs about drinking and falling asleep and. And whatever. That was just always part of the.
Dana Goldberg
Thing because it was an Irish residency.
Allison Gill
It was the Blarney Stone Irish Pub. So. Yeah, and a little bit of a six degrees of Kevin Bacon. Dallas McLaughlin did comedy there. He was on the show a couple times early in Mueller, she wrote at the Kitchen Table days. And he's where I got the phrase, put some beans it. Ah, yeah. He was a comedian, and he had a bit where he was like, okay, so apparently all you need to become a famous comedian is to have a catchphrase like, get her done or you might be a redneck if.
Dana Goldberg
Got it.
Allison Gill
And so he was, as a joke, testing out some catchphrases, and there was like, yo, is this hot salsa? And put some beans on. It was. It was. Which, you know, what the fuck? And I was like, you know what? I don't know what to use as a catchphrase. So I was like, dallas, do you do that bit anymore? Can I have put some beans on? He's like, yeah, sure. So.
Dana Goldberg
And tell the people in the line waiting to get into the White House, who we got to say that out loud, Remember? Oh, put some beans on it.
Allison Gill
Keegan, right?
Dana Goldberg
Yes.
Allison Gill
Yeah. He really loved the hard pants comment that I made.
Dana Goldberg
He did. What a great guy. He's a great comedian. Those of you familiar with Keem Peel. Yeah. Keegan, he's amazing. He's amazing guy.
Allison Gill
So great.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah.
Allison Gill
He was like, hard pants. I love that I'm gonna say hard pants all the time now. Put some beans on. Put some beans on it, I think. Did I. Maybe we got a video. A video of that?
Dana Goldberg
I thought you did.
Allison Gill
I'll have to check. Maybe I've just, like, you know, sometimes you go through your pictures and you just forget what you have.
Dana Goldberg
Yeah, that day was crazy. Pants. Yeah. I mean, also, there was so much going on, and you and I were taking pictures, and I'm sure that at some point we were. Were like, we forgot we took the video all together.
Allison Gill
Oh, my gosh. Okay. I'm gonna look for it now. I hope I have it. And if not, then we'll have to get in touch through Politics girl.
Dana Goldberg
There you go. Yep, Yep.
Allison Gill
With her friend.
Dana Goldberg
Got it, I'm sure.
Allison Gill
So a friend of a friend of a friend and be like, hey, can you do that beans thing again? He'll be like, what? I'd be like, it's me. Hard pants. And he'll be like, oh, hell yeah. All right, you guys. 4. Security Breach: Trump Cabinet Discusses Yemen War Plans on Signal Timestamp: [07:10 – 12:43]

Allison discusses the Trump administration's petition to the Supreme Court aiming to validate the mass termination of probationary federal workers across six agencies. 6. Rulings on Transgender Military Members Timestamp: [16:05 – 18:25]

A federal judge in New Jersey, following a similar precedent set by Judge Reyes in Washington, issued a temporary ban on removing two transgender men from the Air Force.
