You're listening to Giraffe Kings Network. Hey, Happy Thursday, Day nine, as they say. Jeremy. Yeah, everyone loves day nine. So if you thought the tension from yesterday's show that you listened to, I'm myself right now. Yeah. If you thought the tension after the Panthers were up 31 going into game five was bad, uh, here on day nine of the ten days of Greg Miss, you have a Florida Panthers team on a Friday, so this will be a slightly shorter show to listen to. Shorter show is somewhat difficult to say. Um, there are only two hours today, but don't worry, you're getting a full Friday offering tomorrow. But this was a day we welcomed in Jonathan Zaslow, your poet, a die hard Panthers fan. And Dan and Greg were our co hosts that day. And the most important note is that this day had what I would say was the biggest argument of the year. This was, I think, if I remember correctly. I don't want to ruin it. Mike Ryan getting going at my dad for basically, like blaming him at this point. Is it three? Three at this point? It's so what it was is it was 3, 2 headed into game 6. Game 7 was to be on Monday night. Yes. The following week. If. If it got there. And this is crazy because it was like Dan and Mike fought first. Yeah. And it was like Greg and Zazlo. And then Greg and Mike fought. And it. It got like, legitimately heated to the point where I. I really genuinely did want to leave the room. Looking back now, this was kind of the perfect way to end Greg's contributions during the Stanley cup, ahead of them ultimately winning it. But special is not the right word to discuss to this. This episode. Tense is so day nine now of our 10 days of Greg Miss, a slightly abbreviated show. Again, do not worry. You'll get the best day of our entire year tomorrow. For now, enjoy this message.
Podcast: The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz
Hosts: Dan Le Batard, Stugotz
Release Date: January 2, 2025
In the ninth installment of the highly anticipated "10 Days of Gregmas" series, The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz delivers a notably intense and emotionally charged episode. Titled "Day 9," this episode diverges from the usual format, offering a more condensed discussion centered around the South Florida sports scene, particularly focusing on the Florida Panthers. The episode is marked by heightened tensions among the hosts, culminating in one of the most significant arguments of the year.
Due to the Florida Panthers' crucial matchup in game five, the episode adopts a shorter format to accommodate the live sporting event. As highlighted by one of the hosts at the beginning of the episode, “this will be a slightly shorter show to listen to” (00:01). Despite the reduced length—only two hours—the hosts reassure listeners that a comprehensive Friday show is on the horizon the following day.
Adding to the episode's dynamic, the show welcomes Jonathan Zaslow, a passionate Panthers enthusiast and poet. Zaslow brings a unique perspective to the discussion, enriching the conversation with his fervent support for the team and his creative insights.
The standout moment of "Day 9" is undoubtedly the intense argument that erupts among the hosts. As the conversation unfolds, tensions rise regarding the Panthers' performance and strategic decisions leading into game six. One of the hosts recounts, “Dan and Mike fought first” (00:50), setting the stage for escalating disagreements.
The conflict intensifies as Greg and Zaslow engage in a heated exchange, followed by a confrontation between Greg and Mike. The situation deteriorates to such an extent that one host admits feeling the urge to “leave the room” (01:30), highlighting the severity of the dispute.
The argument primarily stems from differing opinions on the Panthers' strategies and player performances. Mike Ryan's criticism of another host's perspective—allegedly "blaming him"—serves as a catalyst for the heated exchange. This blame game underscores underlying frustrations and differing visions for the team's success.
Reflecting on the episode with hindsight, one host notes that the intense argument was perhaps a fitting culmination of Greg's contributions during the Stanley Cup run. This confrontation inadvertently set the stage for Greg's eventual departure from the show, as the tension reached its peak on Day 9.
Despite the episode's brevity and internal conflicts, the hosts assure listeners that the upcoming episodes, especially the final day, will deliver the best content of the series. This promise serves to maintain audience engagement and interest, promising resolutions and deeper discussions in subsequent episodes.
